Mod The Sims is one of the largest Sims 2 & Sims 3 sites, and provides premier downloads, custom content creation tutorials, general game help and social discussions on many aspects of the games. We have a friendly atmosphere and pride ourselves on the quality of creations, while being entirely free to use.

We have a great selection of downloadable content, but only members can download, so register now! If you are lost or don't know where to go, try out Site Map for Sims 2 or Sims 3. To navigate around the site, use the menus located in the blue bar at the top of the page - News, Help, Create, Downloads, Community, Site and Search.

It's official! The next expansion for The Sims 3 will be Ambitions, and will center around your sims' careers. Look for its release in June!

If you create custom content, and you are open to taking requests or suggestions from other simmers, we now have an easy way for those simmers to find creators who are willing to make custom content that others request or suggest.
You may post on either (or both) of these two threads, letting people know what you're willing to create:
All requests will be sent by Private Message. Please note that we do NOT have any requests forums and posting requests in any threads or sending unsolicited private messages is against our site rules. Also, do NOT post any requests in those threads, or here - those threads are just for creators to post on, and this thread is just to let you know about them. Any requests posted here, there, or anywhere else will be deleted.
We feel that this method is a good balance of connecting people who want to request something with those willing to do it, and we hope this will be a useful resource for both creators and those wanting something created.

Cleanup of Creator Issues

As part of a cleanup of the site, I have today moved any threads older than 60 days from Creator Issues into a staff only archive. This allows us to see much more clearly which threads are still awaiting replies and as part of an ongoing process we'll be re-thinking some of the procedures based around this forum.
If you had a question that is older than 2 months that never got answered, please feel free to report it in that forum.
As always, questions about the moderation queue, rejections, and so on are welcome in that area.

Site Statistics, 2009

I did some site statistics before, but have been lacking in the past few months. For the end of the year, though, I figured I'd do something special and try to get as many stats as possible out to you all.
For the year 2009 we have had:
* 1.14 million new user registrations
* 71 thousand new threads (that covers uploads both approved and rejected)
* 90+ thousand new posts
* 4.6 million thanks for downloads and articles
We've had a bunch of changes to the site including a new navbar layout, a new New posts screen, trending downloads, the quick menu, social groups, a whole bunch of work on the wiki and obviously a bunch of changes to the backend that about 3 people will understand. 
The big thing is, of course, Sims 3, and adding all the various stuff to the site to support that, but in addition we merged the Sims2Community site into MTS, and of course renamed the site too.
As of now we have 3,512 Sims 3 downloads, which may not seem like much compared to other sites but remember that each and every one of them has gone through our stringent upload moderation queue and is top notch quality.
Let's hope that 2010 is just as good a year for the site and for the games, and I and the rest of the staff would like to wish all of our members and guests a very happy new year, and a great start of 2010!

A Call to Wiki: Sims 3 Content List

With the ever growing amount of custom content for The Sims 3, a new Content List has been started for the game.
The Content List acts as a Table of Contents for custom content - not just from MTS but from all around the community - if you're looking for something in particular in whatever theme, it helps you find it.
The lists can be accessed by anyone, and content can be added by any registered users on the Sims Wiki. We've started adding links to good custom content, but the list so far is only a tiny portion of the excellent content available which is why we need your help! There are several sections that are sparsely populated, and some are lacking content entirely.
Here are few things that need to be worked on:
Need content for...Animal
Crime, Punishment, and Public Service
Decorating Themes
Patterns
School Need a list of good quality clothing sites...
 How to Help:
1. Register a SimsWiki Account, and login to Sims Wiki. This will allow you to edit pages.
2. Visit the Sims 3 Content List on Sims Wiki directly. You can also get to this page on the wiki by going to (Game Select > Sims 3 > Sims 3 Content List).
3. Choose the section/subsection you'd like to add content for.
4. Click the "edit" tab either at the top of the page, or under the section header. Here you can make your additions.
When Linking:
If you would like to help add links to the wiki and/or fix broken links, the links should look similar to this:
:Name of Item by [www.url.com| at (Site Name)] It doesn't *have* to be in alphabetical order or anything, but please be mindful of where you stick an item. A window download, should not just be stuck under Building. It should go in the Building section under the Windows subsection.
When adding pay or adult content:
- Mark adult content with (18+) - please note that listing purely adult content on the Content List is not allowed - the 18+ marker is for items on sites that may also have adult content.
- Mark pay items with ($$$)
Please do NOT:
Delete anything - categories, sub-categories, pages, pictures, links, etc.
Add any new categories or pages - if you feel a new category or page should be created, please post here and staff will add it if need be.
Vandalize or use profanity - do not post any rude comments, put down other people's content, or use vulgar language in any way.
Use the Content List for advertising - posting only your own creations or items solely from a site you post at is not allowed.
Remember, please only add quality items! Pick a section you're interested in and add your favourite links - the more people we have helping out, the more different styles and tastes we'll cover!

Now that folks are getting ahold of the new TS3 expansion, World Adventures, there's a lot of updating that can be done on the Gameplay Guides section of the wiki. These gameplay guides are great for many aspects of the game, so you can get the most out of your play experience: like the Prima guides, only better (and free).
These guides are done by users and staff collaboratively, in a wiki format - sort of like Wikipedia, but for the sims games. Our wiki, Sims Wiki links in with MTS in several places (like the Help and Create sections) making it easier for us to provide updated content, FAQs, tutorials, and info for the community. But these guides are only so good as the information they contain, which is why we need your help!
Anyone can help edit the wiki - it's easy! - and no amount of help is too small! If you've got World Adventures and want to help us get info on the new aspects of the game, please consider chipping in a few minutes and adding what you can.
How to Help:
1. Register a SimsWiki Account, and login to Sims Wiki. This will allow you to edit pages.
2. Visit the Gameplay Guides section on Sims Wiki directly. You can also get to this page by using the Help dropdown on any page on MTS (Help > Sims 3 > Gameplay Guide FAQs > Scroll down and click "Click here to view this page on Sims2Wiki").
3. Choose the guide you would like to edit to add new information.
4. Click the "edit" tab at the top of the page. Here you can make your changes.
Editing Tips:- Make sure to Preview your changes before saving them.
- If you want to do something special with formatting, you can always copy-paste formatting from other pages on Sims Wiki.
- For more advanced formatting, see Wikitext Examples and Wiki Editing Cheat Sheet.
If you have any questions, you can ask in this thread, or in Live Chat - to access the chat, click the Community dropdown, then Live Chat, and enter the #create channel.

Site Suggestions - Creator Style

We've had a general Site Suggestions thread recently, in which a bunch of suggestions were put forward and changes made for general site features, profile stuff, and download browser features; however right now we'd like more suggestions on another important function of the site: Creation.
Modding resources are central to MTS, so if you have suggestions for or issues with the Create forums and tutorials, Creator Feedback Forum, Creator Issues, upload wizard, or moderation process - please do fire away. Anything to make the whole system more intuitive and easier to use, as well as more efficient and more helpful to creators; even simple things like adding an explanation if something is vague, are considered potentially Good Ideas.
There are a few things this thread is not for:
Do not post requests for content here. The staff don't make the uploads.
If your suggestion isn't specifically related to creation and uploading, please use the General Site Suggestions thread.
We know that some parts of the moderation queue can get slow. Please don't comment on this, since we're aware and we're working to speed things up.
Otherwise, all mostly-reasonable ideas are welcome, and we will try to respond to every post.

I've added a new menu to the site, that appears on threads and downloads, in the bottom bar. This is the "Share this" menu, and allows you to share the current download or thread on various services:
Currently the following links are setup:
- Twitter
- Facebook
- MySpace
- Digg
- Delicious
- StumbleUpon
- Google
Obviously most of these require you to have an account on the website in question before you can post a link there. Please let me know if any of the urls are not working properly.
Social Networking
A lot of us now have various social networking pages that we would like to put on our profile. Previously there was no way to do this, however, I have now added the following profile fields to the profiles:
Note that while Facebook and MySpace require the full URL to your page, the Twitter box only needs your Twitter id - the twitter.com is added to the beginning.
These fields appear on your profile, nicely linked, in the "My Profile" section on the left hand side.
