View Full Version : Fed Up With This Dissappearing Neighborhood Problem

Although I back the neighborhoods up it gets annoying how the neighborhoods randomly disappear. The file automatically gets corrupted and freezes SimPE when I try to open the neighborhood that has been disappeared. I'm not sure what is causing this but I'm beginning to wonder if Boolprop has an effect on it. Anyway I learned that it wasn't the case because it still did it yesterday. So now that I used the backup the everything remains in tact but all the sims that were in the lot bin with the old corrupt neighborhood are not there in this neighborhood. So they are gone. The game has been a hastle for me lately and I'm still wondering whether or not I should buy that new expansion pack. Well anyway, I may discontinue using this neighborhood since its been nothing but trouble. Guess I lost all my hard work. But I'm tired of doing things over with this problem. So I'm gonna start a new neighborhood. And I've checked every forum doesn't look like there is a solution to this problem and its the game's fault. Also some people claim that the Holiday Party Pack is what is causing the problem and I do have the party pack installed. And come to think of it, I don't want to start a new neighborhood untill I'm sure that this random neighborhood disappearance problem is solved.

That should only affect new neighborhoods, not existing ones. Try running some virus/spyware scans.

I'm not sure if that may be the problem, but yeah it is but everytime I click on it, it keeps saying read only although I disable it, but I doubt that is what is causing the problems because I haven't had that problem at all. The problems began after I installed The Sims 2 Nightlife. And There aren't any viruses. I'm sure if hacks can cause the problem, but I do have quite a few of them installed.

if you've been heavily developing one neighborhood I can't but think of this post Simsample just mentioned in another thread. I hadn't even heard of this issue before  so no idea if it could be the cause.

Well, we've had a number of people with this problem lately. The only time anyone managed to solve it was by uninstalling and then doing a clean install without the patch- but this hasn't worked for everyone. It definitely seems to be linked to the fact that the documents folder is marked read-only.

ah, i guess new bugs keep coming out of the woodwork as we play this game for longer and longer. I remember when the memory bug first emerged and was driving us nuts. looks like this is one of the the new ones
now to find a solution :banghead:
