View Full Version : Notification of MTS2 downtime

Delphy
1st Feb 2006, 06:11 PM
Hi All,

Due to great donations and ad revenue last month and this month, we have decided to upgrade some of the MTS2 servers, thus giving us faster processors and faster hard drives, all of which means that the site should be much quicker to load all round.

To that end, MTS2 will be offline probably for at least 4-6 hours, possibly more, as I have to configure up two brand new Opteron 246 boxes, one of which is replacing the database server, as well as move the old db server to become an image/avatar server and re-configure the DNS pool too.

This work is due to take place either tommorow (Thursday) the 2nd Feb, or Friday the 3rd, depending on when the servers are actually installed.

During this time I will also be moving Sims 2 Community, Sapphire Sims 2 and Helaene.com to another, faster server.

Regards,
Delphy

This will definitely help the site when there are loads of people online. I'm glad to see so many people have donated. I myself would, but I have other things to pay for right now. I guess I'll just have to actually play the game when the server's down. Thanks for the upgrade, Delphy! (By the way, I'm lucky # 7!)

Why waste perfectly good door stops? Or things you can throw at the cats that get near my garbage cans? Or give them a proper burial, (That one came out of nowhere). And just for the helluvitall, the new names could be, uh, I dunno, Jay & Silent Bob.
And just to keep this train agoing, Holy Penquin, Im #12. Im gonna torch a Taco Bell, and smell that greasy goodness burn. :jest: :jest:

Is it done yet?

I am guessing yes.
I had backup all my old and new files onto a dvd of all things, my husbands idea.
After deleteing it all off my hard drive to save room I find that half the files was currupted, errg.
so I was downing my little heart out last night when I got booted out lol.

Well, the site's up, so at least I still have something to do. I am being patient, as the message says, because one of my new houses is in the moderation queue. I hope I can start uploading again soon. But I would rather wait now then have to wait five minutes for a page to load every day, so it's for the best! :)

DELPHY, you have done a great job, as always. I've seen you online, yesterday, late in the night, still trying to fix everything, and I've appreciated your hard work even more...
You've found the time to improve the look of the Downloads box, too: it's extremely neat, now! I like the new layout very much, and the new servers are greatly faster!

'It was only acting the clown' Sorry I just could not resist it

Now being serious
I can't log on to Sapphire Sims, not even using the link from here. So I presume that it is still off line for the time being. Or is it just me.

Yay! Congrats on the upgrade Delphy. Once again I'll say it: You have the best website on the WWW!!! Faster load times = more downloads per day for me, woohooo. I love downtimes when it means better uptimes.

HI! This is by far the biggest and best sims site out there. It is even better than the pay sites. Iv'e seen them and they don't even hold a candle up to this wonderful website. Kudos for your efforts for making the best site even better. By the way, nobody cares who posted when the me first and wow, look at when I posted lines are getting out of hand. You waste server space when you add them. It may only be an extra kilobyte or so, but it adds up quickly. When you post is not important, but what is important is what you say in that post so your opinion is heard. Sorry, RANT OVER. Great job and congratulations!
