View Full Version : Sims2Pack Not Cleaning Correctly

Ok, I looked and couldn't find an answer anywhere to this particular problem. I wanted to upload a residential lot (15 Sagebrush Lane, if that'll help the mods) and got the message that the upload was pending because the lot had custom content and to either remove the cc or post links in the download thread. I did run the lot thru Clean Installer like the creator guidelines said. (Keep in mind that I didn't use any custom content in building the house nor do I have any hacks with the exception of CEP.) So I thought, maybe I accidently archived the wrong (un-cleaned) version. I checked the .rar (from my harddrive) and uncompressed the lot. Opened it up in Sims2Pack and it showed that the only file was the lot itself. I re-cleaned the file, re-archived it with WinRar and uploaded the new archive, deleting the original one. But I did notice that I got the following error message: "System.OutOfMemoryException: Exception of type System.OutOfMemoryException was thrown." Maybe that explains why the mods thought that I hadn't cleaned the lot properly, that the program didn't clean it correctly even though on my machine it shows it as cleaned. Help please.

Sounds like your PC was struggling a bit. If there was anything else running that you could close down, that might let give cleaninstaller more resources to fix the package. Or maybe shutdown restart might solve whatever mess the PC had got itself into. Mine takes a while to recover from playing Sims, so I usually shutdown restart before I do anything big.
You did save it as a different filename didn't you? If you cut the file down in cleaninstaller, you can't save it with the same file name. You end up with an empty file doing that in my experience. Doesn't sound like your problem.
I know it says memory, but are you OK for disk space? If there isn't room to save the file, the PC might get all excited about it.
That's about my limit - good luck - this board is very quiet, so don't be too hopeful of good help.

cwykes, thanks for a reply.
I did have all background tasks closed down. And I did give the file a different name. And there is more than enough HD space/RAM in this machine. What's really perplexing about this is that when I open the file in Clean Installer, the program says that the only thing in the file is 'lotSegmentForUpload'. But the mods said that there was still custom content in the file. I've been hoping that the mod who reviewed my upload request sees this post and can give me more info.

I know that we're not supposed to bump our threads but I was reading another thread in this sub-section: http://modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=140069
And even though it was in reference to errors with an object not a house, it sounded suspicously like the problem that I have. I understand that people are busy but if someone has the time to take a look at the file, I'll post the .rar with the house here (and would appreciate it). Thanks.

Funny, but I came here to describe the same event, as Julia experienced. And I have plenty of space (37 Giga), and RAM (2 Giga) - XP professional. So it's not my computer to blame. Only after I restart the computer, it returns to work correctly.
Furthermore, once in a while, and quite frequently, the CI is stucked, and I got a message that the program doesn't respond. Again I have to restart computer - very annoying.
All this began after I installed NL.
May be the buffer of the CI is too small to contain big amount of downloads? - I have 1.5 Giga in my Downloads folder, and wait quite long for the program to upload all the stuff.
I think it's time to create more advanced version of the Clean Installer.
