View Full Version : Would Hex work?

I was gifted with a copy of Hexagon 2 (http://www.eovia.com/products/hexagon/hexagon.asp) over the weekend and after some tentative poking at it with a stick, started wondering if it would work for meshing.
I will admit to being a total n00b when it comes to anything 3D, so I am not quite sure where to start checking it for Sim compatibility.
Has anyone tried this?

Looks like it'll import the .obj format, so it may be possible to use it for small edits (not removing or adding any vertices) to body meshes, but I can't guarantee it'd work as I've never tried it, or heard of anyone using it. You can try doing the simple Meshtool tutorial with it (remove the dangly from the back of the dress) and see what happens, but it'd be purely experimental. Give it a try. :)

You could use a hex editor to change the numbers in a mesh file (GMDC) and thereby alter the mesh. In fact, you could do that right in SimPE, no external hex editor needed at all.
But it would be like trying to edit a .jpg image by altering the numbers with a hex editor - you would be trying to create something "visual" without any way of seeing the changes...

*giggles* Um, Dr Pixel, I think they meant Hexagon 2, the 3d modeling program they linked to, not hex editing. ;)
