Two sims dissappeared!

Hello, I was playing a family in Stragetown last night. A man and a woman had twins. Last night, they became toddlers. I saved the game. I came back to the same family today and the twins are missing! They appeared to have dissapeared from the entire game. I can't find them on the Tombstone of L&D, relationships, family tree, or even SimPE! And in the memories of the man and the woman, it says "Had $Subject." This is the second time this has happened in my game and I belive it has to do with custom content (I deleted it all) or not being careful on SimPE. I would really like to know whats causing this because I'm worried my good sims that are really successful will dissapear! Thank you for your attention to this matter.

If you are editing files with SimPE without making a backup, then you are inviting trouble! If you value your files always back them up- especially before making modifications of any kind:

This way you will never lose a sim again, as you'll always have a (recent, hopefully!) backup.
If you cannot summon the sims using the testing cheats, then the character data has most probably been damaged, so that the sims are 'unlinked'. You may be able to repair them in SimPE but it could be a long shot- if the genetic info is gone you'll be improvising.

That's my problem! I forgot to backup my files before doing some stuff in SimPE. Even though I didn't back up (silly me), I can get the twins back by making them have another baby and just type in forcetwins. Thank you. I don't think I'll use simPE for a long time. I think I should give it a rest for three or four months.
