Missing thought bubbles

Just recently I noticed that my sims thought bubbles have gone missing. During a conversation or while sleeping the thought bubbles are incomplete, I see the first two bubbles overhead but the big one which usually contains an image of what it is they are thinking of never appears. I have ofb and lots of custom content but i use the clean installer to check for conflicts, etc. and have found none. I did just add a bunch of new hacks from the insim's site resident hack mastah so i guess i could remove them one by one to see if this is the culprit, sigh. But honestly the thought of all the time I will have to spend exiting and reloading makes me light-headed.

Has anyone else had this happen and if so, what was the problem? Thanks in advance for your help!

Cut and paste your Downloads folder to your desktop. Load the game. Thought bubbles back? That means it's definitely a download. Go into your Downloads folder, sort the files by date, and remove the most recent. Put back everything else. Try again. If that hasn't found it, do this: http://www.modthesims2.com/article.php?t=139702

If it's not a download, it could be an objects.package issue.
