View Full Version : sterile female sim / stuck between stages?

I recently came up with a weird bug. After graduating from university, two of my sims became stuck at the beginning of the adult stage after moving in to their house. I didn't notice at first, but after trying to get one of them pregnant, a week went by. "Try for baby" didn't show up anymore, so I checked the pregnancy tab on Sim PE... and none of the stages were checked. This seemed odd, and then I noticed the age progression bar hadn't gone up by so much as a day.

Aging was NOT turned off, and to ensure that, I hit ctrl+shift+c and typed the "aging on" code. Three job promotions and a few weeks of sim-time later, and it's still not budged a bit for either of them. They've both been moved out and in, and I've experimented with turning on and off the various pregnancy flags, and nothing works. It just stays stagnant. What's happened?

The short summary is that there are two issues here: aging is frozen and my married adult female sim can't get pregnant. Is there a way to fix this?

And no, they're not zombies. I've only even had the game installed for a week in real life.

please note before gripeing at me that this: http://www.modthesims2.com/article.php?t=74041 did not help either.

No body is going to gripe at you! For future reference, though, edit your posts with additonal information if no one has responded. This will save space on an already overtaxed server.

Daysies is correct in what she wrote. No one knows better than our Daysies. I always have my Simmies suffer from what I call Chess Elbow. Their arm becomes stiff. The solution is simple enough. Just have them play again until they regain use of the bent arm.

Okay now for your problem. I had the same thing happen to quite a few grads. I discovered that I was using lots that had originally been built in Sim State. I had saved them for use elsewhere before populating them in UNI. Well, any Sim living there in Veronaville simply would not age. I moved out the last two affected Sims and placed them in Veronaville specific lots and they began to age. I had subtracted days using Merola's Painting (didn't help while in the "age-stuck" house). Once placed in the new houses the Simmies aged to the correct age at 6 PM.

I don't remember clearly whether this phenomenon existed in other older Veronaville lots. I think I noticed the problem when I returned grads to their parents' houses. I believe after a day or two they also began to age properly. Maybe putting these problems Sims with ones who do age is also a cure. I am not certain

I am sorry for the rambling. I thought until now that no one else had suffered this anomaly. What I did discover, at least in my game, is that houses built for use in UNI can not be used in a Neighborhood i.e. Veronaville. Vice versa, a house built in Veronaville (or another like neighborhood) can not be used in UNI. I used a Veronaville manse as a Frat House in UNI. Any YA in that Frat who has an OFB job has to go to work or must quit. If a YA with an OFB job lives in a dorm or UNI housing no one hour warning re the carpool exists; they don't have to go to their jobs while college students but they still show up for work if you are playing a Sim owned biz in a neighborhood.

If you are not using a house built specifically for UNI in your neighborhhod then I suggest trying to have the ageless Simmies move into a lot where aging works. Hopefully, that will be the simplest solution.

Well, I don't know about jinyc's anomaly, but as for the aging and the pregnancy, I'd first try cutting and pasting your Downloads folder to your desktop, loading the game again, and seeing if it works without custom content. Either way, exit the game without saving, as it's just to test. If it worked without custom content, then go do this.

Females with stuck pregnancies can also usually be cured by using the "ageSimsCheat on" cheat and aging them down to child and back up. I don't see that you have OfB, but if you do have it, you can use that. Alternately, attempting impregnating/aborting with the inSIMenator can also help.

I don't have open for business.

Secondly, i thought jinyc might have something, because that's what I'd done at first. I'd accidentally lost the "just right" property in a glitch, and moved the bundt way property over to the main neighborhood to replace it, since they looked the same.

There's nothing to abort. The sim isn't pregnant, and when I put up the pregnancy flags, it doesn't progress to birth, even with full pregnancy on. But for some reason, even with all the flags off...

The first time I had them "try for baby" it was in the house i'd ripped from the university. I did hear the lullaby afterwards. Ever since, it's never popped up again, even though the sim isn't pregnant by any visable means in her file.

I moved them into a custom made house after both backing up my neighborhood and exporting the sims.

I can't get rid of everything in my downloads folder. Most of it is clothes, and my sims happen to be wearing those clothes... the male as the everyday wear, in fact. The rest is just recolored furnature and a few walls and floors. Nothing earth shattering, except maybe the restocking fridge mod?

Unfortunately, everything up to reinstalling / repatching the game and then copying just the neighborhood and downloads has not fixed this issue.

I suppose I could try deleting everything but the stuff they need... but I don't want to risk corruption by missing a file... :(

edit: ok, i did remove the downloads folder... guess what? it still doesn't work. so it's not that.

Further edit: I take it all back. jinyc DID have something there. That's precisely what happened. The only problem was, since my sims had even tried to get pregnant there and their ages got confused, I had to re-save their files in SimPE after moving them to their new house. Now it's working perfectly! Thanks for the help, and now at least the issue has a known fix somewhere... I've been googling for weeks with nada.

Burntogold, I am sorry you had this weird problem but comforted that I am not alone here. Most Simmers thought me mad with my theory that houses built for UNI or built specifically for the main neighborhoods could really not be interchangeable.

One thing though, I moved my pregnant unaging Sims out of the UNI houses that I was using in Veronaville and both began aging immediately without any SimPe fiddling. Just moving both families seemed to cure the problem.

I had used the InSimenator to check on the pregnancies constantly while the familes were in their UNI house and, while the InSim verified the pregs, none of the preg options were available to me, i.e. accelerate, abort etc. Once the unaged were housed on a Veronaville specific lot the InSim showed all functions for pregnancy.

The other caveat I found was the use of a neighborhood built lot in UNI. It will play but the YA OFB problem exists.

Looks like jinyc was right- I've seen this problem before... it seems that if you wish to use the houses in the University campuses outside of the Uni sub-neighbourhoods, you need to rebuild them.
