View Full Version : My graphics settings keep resetting

I hope I put this under the right topic, but I recently installed University (this is my only expansion) and I have integrated graphics, so I can't really keep my graphics settings on high or the whole game will bog down. Every time I enter the CAS screen, I have reflections (poor ones, often with missing arms or flaoting heads) despite the fact that the last time I was at the CAS I reset it to off for reflections. No, I have not uninstalled the expansion or the game, but this is only a problem when played on my account on the computer. I don't know why, but sims and files don't seem to be shared between accounts. Thankfully this problem also is not shared, but I digress. Forgive my loquatiousness, but I would apreciate help.

The first thing I'd try is updating the graphics drivers- this often forces the game to re-recognise your chip, and settings. Otherwise, you could try cutting and pasting the entire sims2 folder from your my documents to the desktop, and run the game- this causes the game to generate a complately new sims2 folder. Then, cut and paste all of the folders from your old sims2 folder into the new one- except for the config folder. If you are using a userstartup cheat file you can cut and paste that into the new config folder, though. What you are effectively doing is to regenerate the user game settings, and hopefully making the game recognise your graphics chip. Now you just need to enter the game and reset your graphics options- hopefully this will work.
