Bodyshop is not working for a month or so, and I read everything to fix it.
I deleted the groups.cache and cigen.package. I didn't remove my download folder yet because I think something strange is going on.
I deleted the cigen.package, and now it's not there anymore, it's gone. And there are loads of .txt and .mdmp, I don't think those things are supposed to be there.
How can I get the cigen.package back? I just did what the article on MTS2 told me..

The cigen package will be regenerated the next time Bodyshop is run; it is a cache of information designed to speed up loading time. Not sure what the txt and mdmp files are- can you open a text file and see what it contains?

Will it be regenerated when Bodyshop is actually working? Because bodyshop loads for a while and then there's an error: The Sims 2 Bodyshop have got bogged down. The programme is now concluded. (I got the translation from the internet, in Dutch it is: De Sims 2 Bodyshop is vastgelopen. Het programma wordt nu afgesloten.)

Sorry for the long post..

Ahh, I understand now- these are error reports, and most likely the other files are dump files of some type. What I would suggest to do now is to cut and paste your Saved Sims and Downloads folders to the desktop (and your projects folder, if you create your own content) and try Bodyshop again. Also delete the groups.cache and content registry files, if they are present in the sims2 folder where you found cigen.

Ok, the problem is located in the SavedSims folder. I'll go to the help function to search the corrupted file.
Can I delete the txt and mdmp files?
Thank you for helping me :)

Yup, you can safely delete those files. You could use this method to find the corrupted file:

This is what I did: I have 80 files in the SavedSims folder, I splitted it up in 2 folders en removed one of them. It worked, so I also put the other folder in SavedSims. It works, but when I don't put them in a folder, BS didn't work. When I put them in a folder, some of them didn't show up in Bodyshop.

I used SimPE to save some sims I made in CAS! and I didn't name them N003blahblah, I used their own names. And afterwards, I saved the same sims with the name N003blahblah. Could this cause the problem?

If the items will not show up when they are in a subfolder then you'll need to follow my guide but just put 50% directly into the saved sims folder each time. The fact that it worked when you removed some files shows that something in there is causing the problem- you could remove the files you suspect first to see if that helps.

If I delete one of the N003_Userblahblah files, will these sims be in game? Or will they be deleted?

simsample
23rd Aug 2006, 09:47 PM
If the sims are just sims you created in CAS then they are just 'template' sims and can be safely deleted. Any characters that are in the game will be in Neighbourhoods/ N00x/ Characters and are best deleted in game.

I have an idea, but I don't know if it works. If I delete all the N004_User00... and then open SimPE to save the sims from my neighbourhood so I have them listed in BS and CAS again. Will that help, cause now some of the N004_User00... files are causing an error while loading BS. And I'm using your 50% method but it takes so long loading BS over and over again. It wouldn't be a problem if only one file was causing the error.

simsample

When you talk about files called 'N00x_User....', are these files that are in your Saved Sims folder, or files from your neighbourhood folder? I'm slightly confused at what you are attempting to do- any character files (the ones beginning N00x_User....) should not be read by bodyshop as they are savegame files- and also these files should not be in the Saved Sims folder. If you use SimPE to extract your sims from game using sim surgery, then you just need to give them a file name such as the sim's name- you do not need to call it 'N00x_User....'. But you definitely need to remove the files from the Saved Sims folder that are causing the crash- but they are only 'sim templates' anyway, not actual characters.

I used Sim surgery so the sims I made in CAS, were listed in BS and CAS. They were called N00x_User... and were saved in SavedSims folder. If I remove the files from the SavedSims folder, will they be in BS?

If you remove them from the Saved Sims folder, they will not appear in Bodyshop or CAS.

Ok, I'll try something out and if that doesn't work, I'll continue your 50% method.
Thanks :)
