We all know how much fun making pets is, and now you can share them here too!!!

***We'd like to announce the opening of our Pets upload forum.***

First we'd like you all to read the Pet Upload Guidelines. (http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=197247) These are our basic rules of sharing at the moment. Things will change as the talented modders here figure out how to create custom content for pets. But the guidelines will get you off to a good start for now.


Currently the only pets sharable are Dogs and Cat Breeds. Birds and Womrats are technically objects so they will not have their own forum. Instead (when we are able) they will go into the objects forum.

The other important change is a new thread to explain what common rejection notices mean. We feel this will help some creators have abetter feel for what they need to do to have uploads approved.

Oh I was so dreading this, I can't pick up my new Pets ep until tonight. The price of living in Paradise, just slightly north of civilization. lol. I had to wait until the Futureshop in a neighboring town had it and I can't even call them until 10 a.m. when they open to reserve one. So I just knew I would still have to go into the pets forum to see what else is there so I can drool and pant. As for the rejection notices, that is a marvelous idea. Those of us who are still relatively new to creating really like to know what we have to fix to make our creations worthwhile. I do like that this place has such high standards though, I always know if my uploads are rejected, there is a good reason and when they're accepted, it means I did well. Thanks.

i am pretty sure most other places already have pets like eroupe,brizil and other places but the US dosnt i dont think.But still waiting for pets i bet i sould have it in no time.Today here it is 11:42 on a thusday i did looked at places yesterday to find pets but no sigh of then.PS i hear there have pets in brizil so people in brizl enjoy pets.Cant wait to show you guys my houses from pets =)

If anyone is interested, I preordered the game and EA games gave me a nifty little code for a Zorro-esque cat. Here's the info of how to unlock it in your game. . .At least I think it will, I don't know if the code is specific to my CD-ROM or not. . .Let me know how it goes!

1. Start The Sims 2 Pets.
2. Enter a Neighborhood, click the FAMILIES button, then click
CREATE NEW FAMILY.
3. Click the Options icon (the "...") and then click the Game Options
icon (the cogs).
4. Click the Blue Key icon which opens the Unlocked Sims Gift Code
dialog box.
5. Click the Enter a Code Key icon, enter the code above, and click
the Check Mark icon. If your code is valid, the Bandit Cat will
appear in the Breed Bin.
6. Click the CREATE FAMILY button, click the CREATE A SIM button,
then click the CREATE A CAT button.
7. Click the CHOOSE A BREED (#2) button and you'll find the Bandit

How long should we wait for our uploads to show up on the upload forum before we should be concerned that the thread wasn't actually created? 24 hours is a perfectly acceptable answer, I'm just worried that the dog breed I tried uploading didn't actually get uploaded (the message that came up while it was posting went too fast for me to catch so early in the morning, lol).

I live in the US and I got my game last night at walmart.

I got Pets! It wasn't supposed to be released until Friday, but I saw it in the store today and bought it. So far I have only played it with a dag and a cat, I haven't had the time to visit the petstores for other animals and more stuff. I was also hoping that there would be new Maxis meshes for clothing etc in Body Shop, but I couldn't find any :( Not sure yet, though.

Anyway, seems like a lot of fun! In the cover there is also an add for the next EP (or maybe stuff pack? It doesn't say), it says that the sims will have four seasons with different kinds of weater. The Sims can have outdoor fun like snowballfights, waterpolo, poolgames and fishing in garden pods. :)

I'm very upset, 'cause today (Thursday, 19.10.2006) in Europe the Expansion Pack "Pets" is released only as DVD-Rom. (The covers in the net and on flyers showed always PC CD-Rom!!!!) My friend understood my permantly talking about the "upcoming Add-on with cute pets for my Sims" and bought it for me as a surprise for my birthday in 2 months *I love him a little bit more now...*
I've wasted a lot of time on backing up my files and compressing them... and as the final moment for the installation came... NOTHING HAPPEN!
I know that I know almost nothing about computer stuff, but now I know that CD-Rom and DVD-Rom isn't the same for my computer although for me it is! ;) The Basegame and the other Add-Ons are CD-Roms, so I can't understand why they made Pets on DVD-Rom only! Could you imagine how depressing this is? Getting a present and realising that you can do nothing with it until the shops open their doors and you can spend money (!) to "pimp" your PC?

But, I think it's a great idea to make a(n) own pets upload forum! I'll take a look and try to be a bit happy for the lucky ones who haven't problems with their installation...
Oh, I've wanted to get baby dogs and cats before midnight so bad! (Should have been a little challenge for me...) Can't wait to make my own breed!

Thank you, modders, for your hardwork in supporting the development of Sims2 Pets EP forum. As I said a long time ago, this is probably my favourite EP (like Sim1's Unleashed) and I'm so excited about it. When I see Lyric Lee & HystericalParoxysm's uploads, I'm really happy. I got my Pets yesterday,I was so excited about getting it,even watched the calender for that day to come that I completely forgot that all my old hack downloads werent going to function any more when a new expansion pack was added,I created allot of large families and with out Meroila's Painting to rejuvinate my families I cant take care of them let alone add pets,my preternatual people are dying. So I created a new household with 1 guy and his daughter and Im waiting for a wolf to come along,lol Im anxious to see this werewolf thing happen. Loving the game so far.

I have played the game and have noticed that most of the mods dont work. ie max all espresso machine and wintermuteal painting. Dont know about others yet to scared to play.

Hey does anyone really know how you do this whole warewolf thing? do you have to get bitten like with the vampires? can you go out and find it or does it have to come to you?? lol just wondering how it works, in my games my sims dont get out much i just like to play to make babies lol.

I have several knowledge sims at the moment, and they all have the desire to see a wolf. Clicking on that desire, it says that wolves come around trees. So, I've added trees to the lot and I'm keeping a look-out. I've had several dogs come by, but no wolves yet.

I've created two lovely cats. I want to breed them, but they don't like each other enough yet. Actually - they are going down in their relationship instead of up. So, now I'm busy trying to make my cats like each other enough to accept the command to try for kittens. :)

Oh - and I'm in Texas and got my copy yesterday afternoon - around 2 PM - at Gamestop.

And - Cullisfamily - there is a link here that talks about what to do if your mods don't work. I did the first thing - and they all work again. I have the max all expresso machine, too. You have to change your settings to accept custom items and all should be fine.

Yes, the insiminator has alot of issues with pets as I noticed. I installed Pets about 3 days ago, and I'm really bummed out about the inSIMenator and other mods not working right. We'll have to wait till they upload a new version to inSIMenator.net

I have a question; I have the downloads filtered to only display items that are compatible with the original base game. However, I can also see all the Pets uploads - I'm guessing because there is not yet an option to show that the Pets EP is required when uploading? At least, there's no new little picture icon thingy showing what EP is needed under the title. Will this be added in time?

i just got pets and i must say I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! it adds much more realism to the game and the behaviour of the animals in the game is so LIFE-LIKE! to everyone who hasnt yet gotten pets, i urge you to.
i was skeptical in the beginning as to how much difference it would make, but when i started playing the game i could hardly supress giggles as i watched the cats play about and move around. my favourite EP yet!
i noted a minor problem though, when i went into buy mode, i noticed my custom items were all gone. strange :S but i only loaded and played the game once, so we'll see what happens when i play again later. i just had to enter this forum and post praises of Pets!

it is NOT exclusive to one CD it also available to ANYONE who has their pet accomplish something as a 'bonus' unlock code. As far as I know there are several more as well. So technically you're not getting anything no one else will, just getting it easier and sooner.

Its an error in our upload form. The compatibility is missing when you go to upload a pet. The authors must manually go back in, once approved and edit the thread to set the compatibility.

For the record of course all Pets uploads require the Pets EP.

Ok not sure where to ask this one, but Lyric- sims clean installer doesn't work with pets? Mine just packaged with maxis default, no prob since I have NO custom content right now. Just want to be sure I'm uploading it correctly.

p.s. i backed up my files before installing pets! :)

I had the same thing happen, but I just went back into CAS and remade them and moved them in where they were supposed to be or changed their faces with insimenator, but that doesn't keep the family ties and I'm not sure what happens when they have kids.

I'm downloading the "Pets" Expansion as I'm typing this!! Thankfully, I've never had a problem with installing and having IE open all at once. I have to say though, it's still quite hard to find the game around here (Florida). I found it at Target, advertised for $24.99, and I had a discount so I was able to get it for $20!! :D

I can't wait to start downloading pets on here! The little "lamb" looks sooooooo adorable! :)

Can't install Pets though, 'cuz im waiting for a new computer with better performance, so that I can enjoy The Sims 2 in high resolution ^^ plus exceptional performance !!!

Hi Daniellediesel, I don't know whether you are aware of this but everytime you install a new ep, you have to enable custom content (in the main screen after the game loads) then restart your computer, and the game, I hope it is as simple as this to fix for you :). It is by nature that it defaults as "do not show custom content" Please let us know if this fixes for you. I have not got the pets 2 yet, doesn't come out til this Thursday, so am reading if anyone having problems, helps to know.

I agree with the previous answer, it does restore to default, but even after this I had the problem. The answer is to exist the game after enabling and reload again. This should end the problem. I have also had this problem, game is working now no problems.

ive had help from someone on the sims 2 site and they say the reason for sims turning ugly is:

if you create a family with pretty sims and pets, the game changes the sims faces, making them ugly

if you create your family with pretty faces and go onto live mode, they stay the same BUT you have to add your pets later on and your sims stay pretty :)

Hi All,

Due to the overwhelming number of submissions we have recieved with regards to Cats and Dogs, we have temporarily turned off the abillity to submit such items. Objects and Accessories may still be submitted, however, but anybody found uploading Pets into this category will have thier thread deleted.

Once we have established clearer quality guidelines and a standard for these kind of uploads, we will announce it here.

I hope you understand this decision and continue to submit other quality items to MTS2 :)
