View Full Version : family pets not able to eat out of bowls

I have all three kinds of filled bowls strewn about the lot, but the family pets cannot eat out of them. One of my dogs did manage to eat out of a bowl for a few seconds, but that has been it. Visiting/stray animals will eat, but my animals don't even recognize the bowl is there. They are able to eat everything else though--people food, scraps, treats, flowers. I've had my sims clean and refill the bowls too, and still nothing.

Have you tried with your Downloads folder removed? http://www.modthesims2.com/article.php?t=139718

Also, can you take control of the pets and instruct them to eat?

I'm having the same issue with a clean install... I'll try taking control of them and get back to you.

Yep, I can control them and figured out later that you can make them prefer thier food by praising them when they eat it and scolding over sim food... still don't know why they wouldn't eat in the first place even though food was in the bowl and they were "starving".

If the pet is finicky, then they want to eat from the more expensive pet bowls. Or if the bowl is dirty, they (finicky pets) won't eat from it either.

Yeah that wasn't my issue... they had expensive and clean bowls... and neither of the dogs were finicky either. :) Still not sure what was causing it but after I took control of them and got them to eat out of it the first time... I haven't had a problem since.

Some people have reported that pets will not eat if the bowls are pointing toward the wall... Can't say I've had this problem as the bowls seem to auto rotate in my game but it may be worth checking too.

lol yup I checked that too and it wasn't my original issue... but I do recoment taking control of them if you can since it solved my issue when nothing else had. :)
