Hello,
Just wondering if there was a limit to how many downloads you can put in your downloads folder before it starts to affect your game?

I remember in the Sims 1, that if you had too many items, staircases turned into doors and windows, amongst other things that happened.

I currently have 3,108 files in my downloads folder, I have noticed when in "buy" mode the game runs a little slow and also during "makeovers" it does slow down a bit and it does take a long time to load, but apart from that it does run ok.

How many downloads have you in your folder and have you encountered any problems yet if you have more downloads than me? Cheers!

Mine contains 3,136 and I don't have a problem.I think it depends on your system specs, esp your RAM.

It's generally going to be loading time that will be most affected by sheer quantity of downloads. You may experience some lag on screen 4 in Create a Sim if you have a lot of that content (makeup, accessories, etc.) and on 3 under the eyes chooser, but I have more than 14,000 individual .package files (almost 4 gigs) and my game hasn't exploded yet. You will likely reach the limits of your patience with loading time before you reach any actual physical limit to download quantity.

In terms of actual on-the-lot performance in camera movement, framerate, and graphical quality, that's going to be greatly influenced by your processor, RAM, and video card more than anything... and of course, the amount of polygons you're trying to render.

15,446.. initial load time is getting a bit long, takes a few minutes for change appearance and buy mode can be slow sometimes. Like G.O.C. said, it depends on your system specs.

The main trouble you will have is if you have all of the files in a single folder and not subfoldered- Windows has a limit to the number of individual files in a folder it will read. So subfolder them for best results, unless you want to edit the registry to change this limit.
