View Full Version : Help on Virtul Memory problem
27th Nov 2006, 4:28 PM
I don't know much about computers and earlier today, after quitting my sims 2, my pc stated that my virtual memory was too low. I have spoken to a technician regarding this matter, but all he could tell me was that it was caused by my game and that he can't help me any more for he is not familiar with how sims 2 works. Can anyone tell me how to solve this problem?

The virtual memory (sometimes known as page file or swap file) is easily altered; it is essentially an area of the hard drive which is allotted for the computer to use when it runs out of memory (RAM). Think of it like virtual post-it notes; when you have so much going on you can't remember everything, you jot it down on a piece of paper. This is what the computer is doing when it uses virtual memory (okay, I know my analogy is a little shaky!). The reason your computer has run out of memory is because the Sims 2 is a very RAM- hungry application; if you have a lot of custom content this will also use up memory. This explains a little more about virtual memory:
And this will explain how to optimise the page file:
This may also help if you want to make your computer run the game better:
