I haven't been able to play Sims 2 since Saturday. I had just gotten Happy Holiday Stuff and ever since I installed that this problem has occured. My families will not load and it could sit for hours and hours and it will not go. Or, it will say the game crashed. Please some one help me! I have alot of CC, but not as much as some people on here, I've used DJS Sims Hack Scanner, removed all my hacks and careers, and I've also used Sims 2 Pack Installer but I dont know what the reds mean. Someone please help me! If there is any program, anything, please please help! I've had to cancel all of my contests because of this.. :(

First backup your entire My Docs/EA Games/Sims2 folder. Then go through all the steps in this faq and please let us know how it goes: http://www.modthesims2.com/article.php?t=139718

Ok, what you did was test to see if you had a problem with your custom content, families or neighborhoods. You need to follow all the steps in that faq, not just the first page. If you have questions about any of the other steps please let us know and we can help you work through the faq to get your game working again.

Yes, that's the idea- what we have just proved is that the problem is caused by a file or files within your user data. Now you need to do as Julianarosalia advises, and follow the rest of the article to find out exactly which file is causing the trouble.

Oh it's no use.
I've used numerous programs and removed all bad things, still no luck. I'm not very technical, so I have no clue to check the dates on my downloads except I did that on Sims 2 Clean Installer, nothing was corrupted.
Is there any other program I'm able to use?
ANYTHING?
I'm very close to deleting all my downloads.
I can't stop thinking about Sims and I really want to play.

You need to remove your entire My Docs/EA Games/Sims2 folder after you backup so that a new one is generated. Then try creating a new family to see if they will load. Try that and let us know if the family loads. We can help you through this step by step, so don't worry. :)

Yes, my families loaded when I backed it up, although it wasnt MY families, it was Maxis Made families, and none of my CC was there, so yes, it's probably a download or something.

Now that we know it was something in your user data, you can put your backed up Sims2 folder back into your My Docs/EA Games folder. After you replace the files, move the Downloads folder out to your desktop and try the game again. Don't save, just see if your families will load. We want to see if it is custom content preventing the lots from loading or if the lots themselves are the problem. If the families do load without your Downloads folder what you'll have to do is figure out which file or files isn't working. Simsample has a very easy method of finding those files: http://www.modthesims2.com/article.php?t=139702 Let us know how it goes :)

Okay. It's nothing with my downloads I dont think. Phew. :giggler:
Whenever I try to load a family, my game just dissapears, meaning exits out when it gets to one point on the loading screen.

If the game does not work with your neighbourhoods in but your downloads out, then this indicates that there is a problem with your savegames (meighbourhoods). Test all neighbourhoods; can you get into the actual neighbourhoods, or is it just the lots you cannot enter? Does the game work if you create a clean sims 2 folder and put all of your old downloads in there?

I can get into the neighborhoods themselves. I cannot enter any lot. What do you mean make a clean installer folder?

I meant like in the link Julianarosalia gave:
http://www.modthesims2.com/article.php?t=139718
Does it work if you try the neighbourhoods with no Downloads at all?

No, they still do not work. :(
It's nothing with my neighborhoods beacuse I tested them all.
I'm just so confused because I dont think its anything wrong with my downloads or hacks.
I have no clue. :(

If the lots won't load without Downloads, then it is something wrong with either the entire Neighborhood (if none of the lots load) or just individual lots (if some lots will load but not others).

We need to see if lots will load if you use a new Sims2 folder (so that only Maxis families and houses are in a neighborhood) but with your Downloads folder. Move your My Docs/EA Games/Sims2 folder to your desktop. Start up the game to generate a new Sims2 folder. Exit the game and copy your Downloads folder into the new Sims2 folder that the game just created. Start the game again. Are you able to get into the lots?

No, my lots do not load.

Now we know that one or more files in your Downloads folder is what's causing the problem. So the next step is to sort the files and test to find that file. Follow the steps in this faq: http://www.modthesims2.com/article.php?t=139702
