I'm totally miffed. xD I played my Sims 2 (Original only; I opted not to install my EPs on this computer because of how much space they take up. ^^') for a few hours today, and it worked wonderfully.

Then, when I got home from work, I wandereda round MtS2 for about two hours shopping for some awesome downloads to play with. I've JUST downloaded 1.1.9 (I think that's it) of the Qexpress installer, and I was already having trouble it it and then it just decided to work so I took advantage.

Now I cannot get my game to start up. It will get to that nonsensical tidbit about 'captive'...something (you'd think after seeing it frozen there thirty times I'd remember)... and then a window will pop up with "The Application has Crashed. The Application will now Terminate" and I have to click Ok...and then it shuts itself off.

This is very frustrating. x.x I'm a techie but I'm really just not all that wonderful at Sims 2 technical stuff so I'm afraid to fiddle with it. xD I have never had this problem with this program before, so I'm not quite sure what it thinks it's pulling. ^^;

I've tried the tutorial about the game not working, but it didn't work -- when I tried renaming the Sims 2 folder to the backup, and then ran the program, I was able to replicate the error exactly so I tried the next step and then it totally just didn't work with me.

I've also tried removing my downloads, thinking that was the problem (and that was depressing, too. That was a lot of downloads. xD) but that did absolutely nothing to help.

I hope my rambling has given enough info. x.x I'm probably missing something, but any help would be very appreciated.

Thank you!
-Faith

Did you try deleting the groups.cache file from the My Docs/EA Games/Sims2 folder?

I did try that. x.x I don't know what the heck happened -- but I tried to start the game today and it worked like a charm.

I love this computer. /sarcasm.

^^; Thanks for your suggestion. Now I feel like a loser for posting this. -le'cough-

It's not your computers fault. Read this FAQ for more info: http://www.modthesims2.com/article.php?t=75565
