downloaded sims and custom content invisible in the catalogs

i just got a new computer with Vista, 8800 GTX card, quad core etc . Now im trying to install the game and not having problems but when i install custom content and custom sims they do download into game but are invisable in the the furniture and sim catalog. When i click on the box i can see the item or sim show up on the cursor etc but the pic in the catalog is blank with just the custom content asterisk. Anybody know what i should do. I have 4gig of ram and all the top stuff and now im having this problem. Im very frustrated with this game at this point. Please Help

In the game ctrl-right click (I think... might be left click) on the thumbnail in the catalog and it's supposed to (doesn't always work for me) refresh the thumbnail. If that doesn't work delete all the files in the thumbnails folder (but not the folder) under the downloads folder. The next time you start up the game it will refresh ALL the thumbnails. Which means everything will load a bit slowly while it's doing that, but once it's done they should all be showing.

EDIT: I found this (http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?p=1082476) thread while searching for something else! It will probably help more and it certainly can't hurt. :)
