I was wondering if anyone knew how to convert mens pj pants to everyday pants that a shirt can be put on with, and how to put shoes on with them

The existing PJs and pants body mesh would allow for a skin-tight shirt, and one could change the texturing of the feet to look like basic little canvas sneakers. That would just be recolouring, and one heck of a lot easier than making a new mesh.
To make anything other than a skin-tight shirt, or to put other shoes on them that are shaped like something other than bare feet would be a situation where you would create a new body mesh. There are tutorials on it at the top of this forum (three of them, using Unimesh and Milkshape), but you need to be experienced in recolouring existing clothing before you try them.
To do what you describe you'd find an existing Maxis shirt that's the shape you want (or close enough to be adjusted to be the shape you want), and existing Maxis shoes that are the shape you want (or close enough to be adjusted) and combine that with the pants. The Unimesh 3 tutorial explains how to change shoes on a female outfit - the same technique works for "frankensteining" most body parts together... but it assumes you have completed the Unimesh 1 and 2 tutorials, and all three tutorials assume an expert level in recolouring before attempting the first one.
