Is there a way to stop an objects shadow from showing up on the catalog icon? It's not a big deal but I don't like the way it looks.
Thanks

I don't think so, unless you remove the shadows completely, in which case they won't show up at all.

Scarred, all the object thumbnails show the shadow; problem is, sometimes the shadow is just too visible. If this is the case, you are in good company: even some Maxis items suffer for this problem
You should make the shadow a bit less dark, and renew the thumbnails by deleting the packages in (documents)\EA Games\The Sims 2\Thumbnails.

There isn't much to be done about sucky thumbnails in general - for what its worth people will forgive a ickky thumbnail if the object looks good so its probably more important to worry about whether the shadow is doing it for your object in game more than it is to bother about the thumbnail imo :)

I think part of the problem was that I used build instead of import so all my shadows weren't in the correct format. It looked really bad with the dark black square under them. I went back and reimported the shadow texture in the right format and now they look fine.
Thanks guys

Oh, you are perfectly right! You must use the "Import" function, and choose the right image format (usually ExtRaw8bit); and don't forget to "Update all sizes" when you have imported the image.
