I can't fish

Okay, so I just got seasons and was very excited about fishing. So, I built a huge, very deep pond so I could fish. I know there were fish in the pond because I saw them leaping from the water several times. When I hovered over the pond I get the cursor that indicated I can interact with the pond, but when I clicked, no menu poppped up (trust me, I clicked LOTS of times). I even tried making the pond bigger and deeper! :help: I took out all of my hacks when I installed Seasons and I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling my entire game and ave downloaded the Maxis patch, but to no avail.. Why can't I fish? :cry:

Are you 'sure' you took out all of your hacks? Just asking, because this is indicative of an incompatible hack. Try the clean installer to see if any are still hiding out in your downloads folder. :)

Yup, I only had three hacks AND I double-checked with clean installer (sometimes I download stuff without knowing! :P).

I guess, the next step is to go through this tutorial to see whether it's user or game files borking your ability to fish.

that i know for a fact you can fish on perhaps you might like to try it and see what happens if you cant fish on it then uh oh. Back to what canoodle said.

:cry: I have had the same problem with this game since I bought Seasons. I thought I was doing something wrong. I even CALLED MAXIS today and they told me I had to go to a business lot and BUY fish to STOCK the POND! Why do I think that is BS? :report: Maybe because I have been playing this silly game for years now and have never seen an object to BUY fish from? :wtf: Help me please! I too have taken all my hacks out and feel like it is going to to be a forehead slapper when I figure out what I am doing wrong. :rolleyes:

Fish will not be in a pond that is too shallow.
They will be fish in the pond but you will not be able to see them if your video card doesn't support shaders (check a fishtank, do you see fish in it?) You CAN fish them, even if you can't see them swimming in the pond.
You cannot fish if the land around the pond is too steep/bumpy

Of course, briefly move your downloads to the desktop just to double check for a conflict. Test in your game, then don't save. A bit time consuming but fairly painless way to eliminate that as a potential issue.
