View Full Version : A bunch of my custom and original hair/clothes are white with black, red, and blue writing

I just recently uninstalled all of my Sims2 eps and the game itself. I reinstalled and started putting downloads back in in groups of 100. I checked in the game after every group to make sure everything worked and that my game didn't shut off during the loading screen, which is what it was doing before. I got rid of all of the problematic items when I found them, but then I had another problem; After I put something in the downloads folder, it turned a bunch of my hair and clothes, both custom and original, white with black, red and blue "writing". I put writing in quotes because it's mostly just Xs and Os. I had a few game overrides (Chinese takeout, vampire sunblock, and dive in anything) that I deleted, but that didn't seem to solve the problem. I also deleted the files that I last added before I had the problem.

Here's a screenshot from the create a family mode:

It happened with hair that I hadn't yet gotten the chance to put the mesh into my downloads folder, but there are others without a mesh that DON'T do that. It seems to be happening to random hair/clothes because I can't seem to find a pattern or any similarities between the items.

Any ideas?

It looks like the objects.package file got borked. Please go through this faq and let us know it goes. http://www.modthesims2.com/article.php?t=134921

It's also possible that is due to custom content - take out your Downloads folder and see if it's okay that way:

It's a quick test... because the faces are still working it's entirely possible it's due to a set of dependent defaults (default replacement skintones which require the original, non-default custom skins to work) and you don't have the non-defaults. Looks very similar to what happens in that case... there's a picture (and further info) on that particular issue here:
