hopefully somebody can help me out here.

My system has recently been wiped and reinstalled with XP Home. It is a 2.56ghz Dell Dimension 2400 with 512mb ram and a 40 gig hd.

I should note here that this system had been running TS2 since it came out without problem.

The base game shows icons in the build mode in red that are basic game objects. Example. the video game player, some chairs, phones etc

There is no custom content loaded on this game other than CEP v7 and only the base game is installed (freshly)

I have tried both a patched and un-patched setup and get the same.

Any thoughts on this? It's driving me nuts :(

It's a Intel(R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller. The Easy info screen for the games says that it is unknown capability

It's not because you're low on simoleans, is it?

That's not really a video card, but only a chip. Please see HP's post in another thread (http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=253494).

I never thought of the simoleans part. I will check that and the other system particulars

D'oh! Good point Safraan. If you're simmies don't have enough simoleans to buy something, then the item will be 'redded out' and unavailable. But if you are building on an empty lot (where there's no monetary limit) and you still have red items then something is definitely wonky with your game.

Ok, I feel like a dope! The problem was the simoleans. I am so use to motherlode cheat that I forgot some of those things are really pricey...
