This isnt really a question, just something I have discovered with the new SP Teen Style Stuff that I thought I would share, I didnt know where else to put this, so don't shout, I am just trying to :help:

The manual says that after installation, you need to launch the game with the latest EP released/installed. In my case Bon Voyage.

If you have custom content installed, DONT DO THIS!

ALL of your custom content, placed or otherwise, will default back to their orginal meshes and show the flashing blue 'missing textures' effect.

Instead, exit without saving, and launch the game from the Teen Style Stuff icon. In my case, the game still launched and loaded saying Bon Voyage, but the custom content remains in place and functioning correctly.

As for what causes this, I don't have a clue, I am guessing the SP changes the way the game access the download folder or something like that...

Note to Mods: Please move this to the relevent section ;)

I don't think that's a problem with Teen Style Stuff - it's pretty common upon installing any new expansion or stuff pack. Usually quitting without saving and simply reloading the game using the proper shortcut (which is, in your case, BV - the latest EP icon is the one to use, not latest SP) and making sure that custom content is enabled is enough to resolve this - which it appears to have in your case.

You should do this. Other short cuts won't work. Just load up the game and quit without saving. Voilą! No more flashing blue custom content.

You cannot load the game from any other shortcut then the one of the latest EP. All other shortcuts will tell you to "insert the correct cd".

So, no problems with Teen style guys!

This is the passage in the manual that states:

"Note: You may need to use a previously installed version of The Sims 2 to launch your game. If you have TS2 University, TS2 Nightlife, TS2 Open for Business, TS2 Family Fun Stuff, TS2 Glamour Life Stuff, TS2 Celebration! Stuff and/orTS2 H&M Fashion Stuff (or any combination of these titles), you will use TS2 Teen Style Stuff to start the game, using that disc."

If you have installed TS2 Pets or any EP released after that, you will use the most recently released EP to start the game.

This is why my fiancee launched the game using TS2 Bon Voyage, and encountered the problem, launching the game with TS2 Teen Style Stuff appears to still run the game using Bon Voyage, but the custom content works ok.

I have done this several times now, launching the game using BV, and the same thing happens, CC doesnt show properly, but launching with TS2 Teen Style Stuff solves it

I don't know if my two cents count, but every time I install a EP/Pack I notice this, but I just close the game, un-install CEP, reinstall it and re-run the game. Blue content gone :) It's become automatic after installing one of the Ep's/packs.

It could be a problem with the CEP, I hadnt considored that.

Either way, the solution I found in this case is to launch the game with the Teen Style Stuff SP, despite popular belief and Maxis saying NOT to do this.
It still uses/launches BV, but it doesnt have a problem with CC.

Again, I can go back now, and launch using BV instead, and voila! Flashing Blue mode returns

Have you reinstalled CEP?

I didnt need to, I just double-click on teen style stuff, and it launches BV anyway.

So you have your teen style cd in your drive and when you cliskc on that it starts the game? To what path does the teen style icon link? Because i tried what you said a couple of times and it just tells me to put in the BV cd instead. Your story is very weird, or are you using a no-cd crack or anything?

I am using a no-cd crack, but only because I hate having to change cd's every five minutes.

Rest Assured, I have bought EVERY game I own.

Well, then this thread ends here.

We do not support the use of no-cd cracks for a number of reasons:

- They are most often used by people downloading the game and not paying for it legitimately (you have stated this is not the case with you and I do understand not wanting to flip through a stack of CDs... but the association of it with illegitimate use is something we would like to avoid)
- They are often found on dodgy sites and you never know what kind of trojan or virus or spyware or whatever you can pick up in trying to find them
- They often cause problems with the game - a known issue with certain no-cd cracks is nothing working at all in build mode. It's possible the bug you're experiencing is related as well. However, as stated above, we do not support (or further troubleshoot) games with no-cd cracks installed.

Therefore, thread locked.
