I recently bought a new computer with Vista. I installed the Sims 2 successfully but when I went back to play received the "unspecified error" and was not able to play. Uninstalled Sims 2, reinstalled and played as soon as installation was complete with no problems. Went to replay the game and again received "unspecified error" and was unable to play. I have no custom content and no extra packs. My computer has over 200 GB of free memory.
I have tried clicking on the shortcut, the game icon, and ejecting/reinserting the dvd. When I eject/reinsert the dvd it asks if I want to install the game. Ack! its already installed. :cry:
