View Full Version : Can't select sims

Hello!

I'm asking on behalf of a friend - she's on dialup and has just started playing sims2, so I'm trying to help. However, she has quickly run into a major issue. When she enters a house, the sims behave properly /autonomously but are not selectable. They will not take any commands to interact with objects or other sims - the pie menu appears but then drops out without selecting any option.

My friend has basegame and Family Fun Stuff. She has already uninstalled the game and re-installed it with no CC whatever. The game worked fine before any CC was installed, then stopped. The problem is now persisting in a clean game.

I've been searching for a clue, but can't find her problem reported. Thanks for any assistance.

Have you patched your game yet? I'd apply the patch for both the base game and stuff pack.

Hi Ratwren! (wouldn't have known that was you, thanks for introducing yourself.)

I'll leave you to collect your own advice now, then. Good luck!

I have installed the two patches, and it still hasn't worked.

Has anyone any other ideas?

Help would be greatly appreciated

I thought of searching for 'unclickable', but no luck. Mostly problems with people trying to create new objects, plus some BV-specific issues.

If you haven't already, you should go through the motions for cleaning up your game files - there's more to it than just taking out the downloads, and it may be something else has been messed up. Look here (http://hideki.modthesims2.com/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Game_Problem).

That is correct aelflaed. In fact, doing that tutorial is mandatory before posting here with glitchy game problems. Give it a whirl ratwren and let us know how you get on. :)

It's looking like it might be a trojan that I'm having problems getting rid of I had done virus scans but it wasn't picked up when I first had the problem, so I'm not sure whether it's the problem or not at the minute as I can't get rid of it

thanks for all those who have looked at this thread

Have you tried AVG Free (anti-virus) and Spybot (also free and for spyware)? They are both excellent programs and I highly recommend them.
