hello, everyone, this is my first post, Im Mexican and I dont have a perfect english. This issue has bothered me a lot since I played TS2 for the ffirst time. I have already searched lots of forums and I get the same: Lame graphics card. But, how could that be? I have all the settings to the max (Incluiding reflections ON, I can see reflections on mirrors and neighborhood sea) Theres no lag, everything works completely smooothly. I can't see fishes on the lakes, neither.

What I have tried to do:
Reinstalling the Sims 2 three times (twice without custom content, reinstalled also after restored my computer to factory settings)
Using "boolprop useshaders true"
Turning on an off reflections thousands of times
Installing all the patches

---Specs:
Windows Vista Home Premium
Intel Core 2 CPU 4300 @ 1.80ghZ (2 cPUS) ~1.8GHz
1022MB RAM
DirectX 10

---Video
256MB ATI Radeon X1300PRO
Total aprox memory: 509MB
Presentation mode: 1280 x 1024 (32bit) (75Hz)

I have all EP and SP except Kitchen&Bath

When I activate boolprop useshaders true the only thing that happens is that the sun effect in the bottom of the pool moves and water looks clearlier, nothing happens in the lakes. I can sometimes also see some little blue waves almost impossible to see.

Your computer specifications don't meet the minimum requirements for playing the game on a Vista computer. So reinstalling the game isn't going to help. http://thesims2.ea.com/help/detail.php?help_id=342

Well I just installed the FreeTime patch (haven't noticed it, sorry) and now reflections and effects are showing perfectly, but I can't still see fishes in lakes. I have another question: Why does Vista require more power? If I turn Aero off, is TS2 going to run better, for example?

Vista has problems with utilizing a lot more system resources than any of the previous Windows operating systems. The glassy effects in the Aero interface use more graphics processing than non-transparent interfaces because it's more difficult to render. I'm not sure if turning Aero off will make a difference since your specs don't meet the minimum requirements but it's worth a shot. Plus if you make sure that there aren't any other programs running in the background, like anti-virus software then you'll have more RAM and processing power available for the game. You can also try turning the graphics down to medium settings because that will improve performance.
