Adding movies to FT

I am wondering how to add some movies to FT, and by movies, I mean custom movies and that is in the movie section(broadcast/tvmovie_name). How can I add, lets say, a TF2 trailer to FT?

You can create a custom TV channel quite easily- there is a tutorial here:

If you'd just like to add a commercial you can just put a movie file into My documents/ Movies/ Broadcast/ Commercials. From the basegame readme:
TV channels: To have your own movies played on the in-game TV channels, just go to My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Movies\ and place .avi files in the appropriate folder. Ideally, the files should have stereo sound, and be in a 128x128 pixel format, otherwise they will be stretched to fit.

From memory I think 15 FPS was the right framerate.

So, there is no way to make a custom movie station with movies I downloaded(TF2 movies)?

I haven't looked into making a custom movie station- not sure what the differences would be to the TV stations; from what I gather the only difference is that the ini file has a line put in to stop the movie channels from looping. So you'd have to try it- experiment a bit- or else be content with a TV station. The downloaded movies will be fine as long as you convert them to the right format.

Yeah, for movies, it is in a .MOVIE format, so I need a converter that does that, and maybe find the ini file to do it, or have someone who knows how to add movies to FT to help me(not tv channels).

I think you'll be able to override these by just putting an avi into the appropriate movie folder in your documents folder. I'm not near my Sims PC at the moment but maybe you could try it!

Any idea to find a free wmv to avi converter, that doesn't show a logo that it is unregistered?

Well, surprise surprise, it said it can't convert it, fuck.

Well, since I can't convert it because of the audio, I guess there is no way to have the custom video in FT until someone converts the video, or I finally convert it.

You can put avi files in the movies folders (Documents> EA Games> The Sims 2> Broadcast) to override them. I put some from my custom TV channel into the werewolf horror movie and could watch them okay, so you just need something to convert WMV files. I'm sure I've done that before using Any Video Converter!
