View Full Version : Super-specific CC not showing up, works for everyone else, no obv fixes working!

I am at my wit's end. I finally got WooHoo working, and Bodyshop too, and now my game rebels in a new and confusing way! A small, almost random-seeming amount of CC isn't showing up in my game. Specifically, Gelydh's tunic tops at Club Crimsyn, liegen's Ballroom on Mars Lunar Eclipse retextures (yay, they randomly worked! But that doesn't fix the issue with the others), some walls (Bosie's eye-searing walls, the Candy Floss walls from GoS), and now a random dining chair from chinafansims. It's not that new CC won't show up, because I'm currently enjoying all the new WNF aspiration clothes I got tonight, as well as some delish new clutter.
I feel like I've tried everything. I've deleted all four of the cache files, several times, I've rebooted my game until I don't even remember what it feels like to play the game anymore, I've deleted the files and replaced them with freshly-downloaded copies, and I check and check and check to make sure I have every file necessary, even when I know I do. I've asked other simmers, including Mac users, if they've had problems with these bits of CC showing up, and nary a one had a complaint.
Please, please please please, someone, help me! :C I want my gotdamn CC!

How many files do you have in your Downloads folder? Do you have files in the Saved Sims folder too? Are they subfoldered? Are you patched? Have you raised your file limit?

I'm fully patched, and I've subfoldered my brains out--less than 800 files remain free range in my DL folder. Sims (and therefore, SavedSims) are no longer an issue, but I assure you there are only sims in that folder. I have checked over and over again to make sure I have every file needed for the missing items to show up, and that I have them in the correct place. As for file limit, I don't think that's it--besides subfoldering, new CC, such as the WNF aspiration items, shows up without problems, and I'm further baffled by the sudden appearance of the Ballroom on Mars hairs and AG/Gelydh's alpha tunic tops.

But how many (total) files in there? The file total is concerning the maximum number of files that any one application can have open. Subfoldering has no effect upon this. Refresh my memory- which EPs do you have?

Seasons, NL. I have 5337 .package files total. I still don't understand, though; if there's a limit, then why are other, more recent CC files showing up without issue in-game? Have I not hit the ceiling, here, meaning it's another problem?

If you are exceeding the file limit, then the newest files will not necessarily be the first loaded. So the order that you install the items will have no influence over whether the game can use them or not. On an unmodified system I think the file limit- with EPs and the patches- is about 12,000 files. Bear in mind that this includes ALL files used by the game- so the actual game data files count, too. Take a look at this thread for more info:

If removing some files causes the rest to show up, or if adding CC causes other files to not show, then I would guess that this is likely the issue. Also check the CC wiki article again:

It's worth checking all points to make sure you don't have content subfoldered in Saved Sims, and that you restarted after enabling CC/ disabling the CC dialog. Check your Documents/EA Games/ The Sims 2/ Config/ userprops.xml file for these values:
<AnyBoolean key="allowCustomContent" type="0xcba908e1">true</AnyBoolean>
<AnyBoolean key="disableCustomObjects" type="0xcba908e1">false</AnyBoolean>

I'm having the same problem as the OP, and I don't think the file number limit is the problem. Sometimes CC shows up that I know I've removed, and it stays in my CC lists in game even if I exit, clear the cache and ContentRegistry files, and re-enter. I'm hoping someone will eventually have an answer for this, because it seems that removing CC doesn't help the problem as it still continues to show up.
There must be a file in Sims somewhere that's holding CC information, and it needs to be cleared. The question is, where is it, and how do we clear that file?

All of the cache files are located in the user data folder (Documents/ EA Games/ The Sims 2- I think the path is that for Mac) and they are entitled groups.cache, cigen.package, accessories.cache and content registry.package. The custom content and hardware settings are stored in userprops.xml in the config folder, so you could try refreshing that (but you'll have to reenable custom content afterwards).
