Do all of your devices have updated drivers? I know that Seasons is one of the more graphically taxing EPs- it changes a lot with pool reflections and rendering effects such as snow. That game engine caused the demise of one of my old graphics cards, which I since know will work on Freetime and AL.

First, I run on a laptop and have before on my old laptop with these games in the past with no problem up to the Free Time Expansion Pack
operating system: Windows Vista Ultimate
processor's type and speed: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T7400 @ 2.16GHz
RAM: 2.00 GB
graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 8700M GT, 512MB RAM, version 7.15.11.5672
Recently I bought a new laptop and wanted to start fresh and install the sims2 onto it. I installed all the games, installing one with its patch, restarting, and installing the next expansion until I got through all 11 of them. No custom content, no custom user data, hacks, or anything, my downloads folder is empty.
What is happening is that I get the error message 'The game has crashed. The program will now terminate.' Halfway through the startup menu - before I can even get to any neighborhoods. The game then crashes and exits out to my desktop.
The first time this happened I uninstalled everything - I used the faqs and uninstalled/reg cleaned everything and did the same process of installing, restart, install again, checking to see what discs worked. Everything loads up and works fine up to the seasons expansion. Pets is the last expansion pack that I have no problems with. I tried installing Seasons, Bon Voyage, and Free time each seperately after that - Having up to Pets and then trying each one individually to see if it was compatible, none of those three are.
The funny thing is I can skip Seasons, Bon Voyage, and Free Time and install Apartment Life and have the game run with no problem.
I read the Install, the Uninstall, Help, and the system specification Faq's and a few others that I can't remember the names of. I followed the directions for all of them and am still having the same problem on these 3 discs. I have tried clearing out and installing them again after I installed Apartment Life and before I attempted to install Apartment Life again. Since I have No Custom Content what-so-ever I'm sure that it is not that.
The only conflict that I could find was in the system requirements with my graphics card - it's not listed, but is one of the highest ones for laptops commercially availiable. And I know its at least compatible with the ones I have installed because everything was automatilly set to optimum performance when I loaded Apartment Life.

Yes, all the drivers are up to date, I even went through each of them by hand - sound, webcam, etc. and made sure they were all updated. Sorry, I forgot to put that in my post.
I'm really puzzled as to why its just these 3 when I can run everything else at max capacity. And I disabled my SLI also, as I'm pretty sure the SIms isn't compatible with that.

Make sure that everything in your NVidia panel is set to 'Application controlled' where the option is available.

ok, I restarted my computer again, and now Apartment Life doesn't work eithier. I get the 'Application has crashed. Application will now terminate' message with that too now.
I didn't have to change any of the settings on my NVidia panel, as they were all already set to application controlled thankfully.
Does it matter that I have DirectX 10 installed and not 9?
