Anytime I am using the clean installer and get a message like the one above, whether I OK or CANCEL, I am stuck with a file that the system no longer will acknowledge to delete, move, copy etc. As far as my computer is concerned the file no longer exists. I have to move everything else that may be in the same folder as the bad file, rename the folder, and then move that into a holding place I called GARBAGE. So far I have two lots, and one SIM file that no longer exist for purposes of deletion but still have a file name on my harddrive. Eventually I will have to reformat this drive and that will finally remove them, short of that do you know what steps I might take when the above error happens to stop accumulating GARBAGE? Thanks, K

Have you tried deleting them after a reboot?

We need some more information please. Is this when you are installing a Sims2 pack? What filetype is the 'undeletable' file- is it a .package? How often does this occur? As GeneralOperationsDirector said, can you delete the files after rebooting the PC?

If the file is undeletable, you need the Unlocker Program (http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/). This program will let you delete anything the hell you want, regardless of the pathetic mewlings of it being in use! DAMN THOSE TORPEDOES! FULL SPEED AHEAD!

Hello all, Sorry to be so long in responding. Life interferes something awful. OK! The stuck files aren't but the folder the Sims2Pack was in. The folder is "empty" but cannot be deleted or moved, although it can be copied and become once again not deletable. Pescado, it doesn't say it is in use, it says it doesn't exist. Of course, I tried a reboot, also tried scanning the disk. It has something to do with the request for the debugger, which I don't have so can't start. First I am told that the Sims2Pack needs the debugger, then no matter whether I say cancel or quit, that Sims2Pack can be deleted, but the folder where it was cannot be. Further suggestions? Why would the debugger request lock the folder up that way? I am also told that the folder cannot be deleted because there are files in it, even though I don't see them. ???
