View Full Version : Altering Pie Menu?

I'm trying to put together a baby bath for my simmies to use :) I wanted to modify it so that only the option to "Bathe..." was available from the object since being able to get a drink from a baby bath seems a little odd.
Anyway, I manged to get rid of all the other functions I didn't need (I wanted to keep the option for the bath to break and get dirty and be cleaned by my sims) but the only problem is that:
1) The package overrides the semi-globals of the game.
2) My sims can't carry out the interaction. I can click the "Bathe..." option and my sims pick their infants up.... But that's it. They don't carry them over to the bath; they simply stand there and I have to cancel the interaction from the queue.
Please help, I have no idea what I did to make this happen... :wtf:

Hi!
The reason it's overriding the semi-globals in the game is that when you imported the "Pie Menu Strings" and "Pie Menu Functions", you didn't change the group ID to 0xFFFFFFFF, it's still 0x7F7638B3. If you open those files, go to the "Resource" tab and make the changes there, it should stop overriding. :)
As for the other problem, try starting your game in debug mode and see if you get an error message. If you do, post a copy of it here along with any logs it produces and we'll take a look. :D

Hi Echo :) Thankyou for replying so quickly ^^
I couldn't seem to find any way to change the files using the resource tab, so I performed a "Fix Integrity". Does that have the same effect, since the group ID changed to 0xFFFFFFFF? :D
I'm going to sound like a total newbie here, but how do I start the game in debug mode? *blush*
Is it okay to use the "boolprop testingcheatsenabled true" in the neighbourhood view and then enter a lot? Or will that not have the same effect? :)
Thanks for your help ^^

Fix Integrity should be fine, yes. Just make sure that both Pie Menu files have the right group and you'll be okay. :)
As for testing cheats, there's a nice article by Numenor on how to get them and what to do with them here:

Well that's one problem fixed ;)
The package no longer overrides the semi-globals, so thankyou for that ^^
I ran the game in debug mode and generated several errors using the bath. The one enclosed is from trying to bathe an infant, but trying to clean the bath also generated an error, and the "Set Maintenance Level" did nothing at all... :S
All errors were the same, I think... Something about trying to run from a tree table that does not exist... I can get a screenshot of the exact error if you need :)

The log you posted doesn't look like it has anything to do with your object - it's an error with a visiting pet. Are you sure it's the right one?

Yup, definately... *scratches head* It was the only error log saved on that day, and from the right time... I noted down the filename too and it matches the one generated and saved when I clicked the pie menu option... =/
