View Full Version : SimPE - freshly installed but not launchable "programm couldn't be initialized properly (oxc0000135)"

Hello,

I have a new computer and tried to install SimPE. Installation seems to be fine but when launching SimPe a warning box tells me "programm couldn't be initialized properly (oxc0000135). Click ok to shut down the programm" (it's a translation into English... English original message could sound slightly different).

I tried 3 Installations, all clean and the last one even with German help files disabled... I read something about there has been an issue with the German version.

And still... it's not starting.

I have 40 GB free space... this shouldn't be the problem.

Something was strange about the first installation... I used my old SimPe download from 2 month ago... it worked perfect on my old computer... with the first installation it said "file is corrupt"... I couldn't really believe it but well... downloaded it new today and tried 3 more installations.

Can anyone else install the today downloadable SimPE version?

Another thing is the garden and mansion upgrade (I have this EP on the new computer installed, haven't had it on the old one)...
I did as I was told here: http://www.simlogical.info/SimPE/SimpeMGUpdate/SimpeMGUpdate.htm
but I can't fullfill step 8 because there is no folders.xreg in my data folder. Maybe there's the problem?

Oh boy... I'd love to finish some recolours and am totally disappointed about SimPE not working. Hope you can help me here.

Greetings

It doesn't matter about folders.xreg if you don't have one, it's as good as deleted :)

Run NetTest.exe in the SimPE folder to see if there is a problem it can tell you about, and also if you are using Vista SimPE must be installed and run as Administrator.

As a last resort, it is ok to use an old simpe to make recolours.

Hello Inge Jones,

thank you for your answer. I am on WinXP (though it's a new computer, but I thought this is the better choice) and have admin rights.

Seems it is this NetTest giving me the described error message:
http://simension.de/tmp/SimPE_error.jpg
Meaning:
"programm couldn't be initialized properly (oxc0000135). Click ok to shut down the programm"

With sourceforge I found a SimPe_0_71_23-QA.7z and a SimPE-Setup-0.68.exe.

I've never had problems with installing SimPE so far... I hope you might have the missing idea. Gonna give it another try tomorrow.

Good night

Perhaps you could join the QA testers group and get the very latest. It might just do the trick.

Hello Inge Jones,

I am really ashamed... this morning I woke up and I instantly know what the problem is: Always installing new versions of SimPE with every new EP on my old computer I just didn't have to spend attention on all those "what else is needed" hints and links... uhm and that's it... got the dotnet framework, the cep the nvidias... now SimPE is running as fast as never before :-).

I know I haven't exactly covered myself with glory. The reason I post it here nevertheless is that others might have the same problem. It's kind of "my television is not working" - "is it plugged?"

I am so sorry for taking your time Inge Jones! And still it might have something good in it... If you need ppl in the QA testers group I'd like to give it a try if I can be helpful.
edit: uhm... Where do I have to "sign up"?

Greetings

Go into the Forums section of the SimPE site, and then Groups from the top menu. You will be offered a pull-down of all the groups, click on QA then there will be an Apply link.
