You need a recolour as well as a mesh. If you just have the mesh, it will not show up in Body Shop.

If you can't find recolors for them, you'll need to make your own.

1) Read the Unimesh 1 tutorial, in Create, Tutorials, BodyShop, Meshing.
2) Make a recolor of a Maxis mesh.
3) Extract the CRES and SHPE from your "hidden" mesh.
4) Replace the CRES and SHPE in the Maxis recolor file with the ones from your "hidden" mesh.
5) Read the UV map tutorial in tutorials.
6) Get yourself a UV map for recoloring.

Now you have a recolor of the "hidden" mesh and it is no longer hidden. Of course, this recolor probably looks awful on the mesh, since it was made for a different mesh, but that's not the point. The point is, now you can recolor this mesh, using a UV map as a guide. Once you've made some nice recolors of the mesh, you can delete that first one.
