The University Expansion Pack never really applied to me. The thought of going to college was just a big waste of time. I made this thread to simply ask if I should get university purely for the add-ons. Are they are cool hairs, outfits, objects or interactions?
If you have university. Please give your comments/replies and let me know if it's worth getting and installing.
PS - I'll NEVER want to send my sims to college.

There's a few new outfits and hairs, not a whole lot but they're still there. There's the guitar, drums and bass if you want instruments...my Uni instruction booklet tells me that the piano also comes with Uni...as well as the pool table, arcade games, communal showers, fire sprinklers and the gadget (mobile phone, MP3 player and handheld game) kiosk.
There's others but I can't think of them...the new careers (even though you can only unlock them when you complete Uni...but if you use cheats and such you can get the jobs anyways), the new career rewards, a few which are pretty ace such as the famous cow plant and Resurrect-O-Normitron.
The new life stage, if Sims are sent to college. Sims can play kicky-bag, which really boosts their fun levels and relationships. You can combine households too, which beats having to propose moving in.
Personally, I play University a fair bit and I think it's pretty neat. Admittedly, the time Sims spend in college does drag on a bit, but just use that time to build skills and relationships (if you ever do decide to send your Sims to college). I reckon it's worth it, I use the items and such a lot.

What Touchdown said. :D Only problem is, you'll get loads of wants like 'Go to college' or '[...] goes to college', and that might just be annoying for you... personally I really like uni, it's useful for getting sims partners, friends, skills...

There's probably no point if you're not going to send them to uni. You'd get spammed with a bunch of 'go to uni wants' whether or not you had a uni neighbourhood. The worst bit is the 'grow up without going to uni fear' which tends to plummet non-uni sims into the deep red and is really annoying.
The instruments are funky but really not that great unless your sims are rich with lots of room to store them - although again this is a major source of want spam. But they're pretty much a must if you make movies
Most of the new clothes are for young adults but there are a few hairstyles that I quite like personally but others hate with abundance. HOWEVER becauce of hthe introduction of a new life stage some websites recommend you having uni before downloading their hairs (Sims Connection for example). I'm not sure how major this is but I thought I'd throw it out there and be corrected if necessary.

I didn't want University for the longest time either but I'm glad I got it. The life stage gives you time to work on skills and frienships if you want, and it rounds out a Sim's life. I like the hairs and clothing, as well as the careers and their reward items. I do use hacks to speed up the University process. I also have to say that Univeristy added a lot of stuff to build mode, like lovely fences, that I missed out on until I got the expansion.

I only played through uni once, and it was okay but kinda dull. At first when I got Uni I was kinda dissapointed in the new features but now I'm glad I have it. The Zombies are fun, the ressurectonomitron thing is pretty handy, and there are some cute clothes and hair.

There's some great clothes - particularly formal, and some hairs. It's the objects that are useful - everyone wants a drum kit, and the communal showers are great - cheap and simple in starters, as well as the bonfire for parties, which instantly raises fun, the cosmetic surgeon reward, the cow plant and the medieval style furniture.

well... just for the musical instruments! Cannot live without drummers! :lovestruc: !

The ressurrectonomitron is almost a "must have" if you have knowledge sims who want to be saved from death. If something goes wrong and they die, you can get them back with money rather than quit without saving only to discover that the last time you saved was half an hour ago.

I really appreciate the contributions of those who have been posted. Seems like getting it is more pros then cons

Well, I would not spend that money on University just for add ons. You should by Seasons if you want to spend money :D
Just my two cents!

My two cents! :D While University is my least favorite EP, I still think it has a lot of good stuff going for it. Namely...band instruments, the pool table (I'm pretty sure that came with University), AWESOME career reward items such as the camera, resurection phone, and my personal favorite...the cow plant, zombies ( I LOVE the alternate life forms, but I understand that not everyone does ;) ), and the college rock station...I ADORE the college rock station! :D The influence interaction can be useful at times too, though I think it has been added to most other EPs and SPs now for those without University.
When it comes to new clothes though, although there are some great ones...especially the punk ones...they are only availabe to young adult sims in college. So if you are never going to play those, you'll never get access to the new clothes. Though I bet someone, somewhere has converted them for regular adult use.

I like Uni all around, but especially the add-ons. The new careers, the band instruments... the thrill of nerd-watching on the community lots... the random abductions into the Secret Society...
Uni was also the first EP to have Lifetime Wants, mind you. Accomplish a single goal, and your sim spends the rest of their life in platinum!

I STILL haven't ever had a sim get into the Secret Society (I've never tried, because I keep forgetting about it!)! :D Sounds like fun though! I have a sim in college now, I may try that!

I already have seasons :)
The only ones I don't have are Uni, OFB and Fun Stuff, all the others are installed.

I like Uni. The stuff, the hairs, the clothes and the gameplay. It just takes too long (the 4 years of university). But if I were you, I'd buy it. Its price has probably decreased (sp?) and you might like it, even if you think you don't. Though I love OFB as well...

I stopped playing uni a while ago. Then I got Seasons. Now i love uni again.the time Sims spend at uni seems faster to me because of the changing Seasons. (And then I agree that the add-ons are great too, but that has been mentioned)
Just get uni.

I think the add-ons are worth it. Especially the "combine households" feature and the musical instruments! :)

It should be available in a bargain bin somewhere for about 1/3 to 1/2 the original price.

I don't have uni and I can still combine households. I think you can do that with all the expansions past uni (seasons and pets), so it's nothing new that I will get.

It's not neccessary at all to send them to collage, unless you like that sort of thing, of course. Since this is the main theme of University, you may or may not want this.

Can't say what's already been said, but I'm so glad I got it. I actually do like sending my sims to collage(i'm weird) and it is simple and if a good way to build relationships, earn skill points, and get a WAY better career. If you did purchase uni, I would suggest trying out collage at least once ^^

Oh yes, it seems faster to me too ^^ And also in fall, they earn skill points faster.

The downside of not planning on sending sims to University are two-fold:
1. Uni aspirations. Teens will want to go, partentsims will want to see their teens go to Uni. There will also be an uneducated fear for not going to Uni that can happen.
2. Certain careers and aspirational awards are only available to Sims who have gone to University.
Everything else is pretty dealable and there is a lot of good stuff in the expansion.

Question - 1) What does the cowplant do?
2) When my sim teen buys a cellphone and tries to make a call, she moves over a square and the phone disappears from her inventory. Any idea whats causing this?

1. It sits on you lot until it gets hungry. Then it produces a cake from its mouth. Any uncontroled sim will make a beeline to grab the cake and be eaten by the cowplant, which can then be milked (fulfilling any "Drink Sim" wants your sim might have and adding several days to the current lifestage if they are not still in college.)
2. sounds like an incompatible hack?

If all I wanted was new objects I'd pass on it. I wouldn't think it would be worth the space it takes on my hard drive. Having said that though, University is my #1 favorite ep to date.

Nightlife for #1 and then in at #2 Seasons. Totally!

the ressurect-o-nomitron is pretty useful... way faster than exit the lot without saving (imagine if you've played for more than 1 hour without saving!) and then reload it........

Why the fudge is my sim getting bills and uni and two, how am i suppose to make money while in college...currently, am painting and selling them. Getting a GPA of 4.0 and doing the final exam gets my some money luckily.
[I said I wouldn't send a sim to college but I was just curious]

You get bills anywhere you go - in a dorm it will be cheaper then having a house (as you pay a part of the bills). You get money for good grades, by being a tutor, busking, working jobs (like barrista, DJ, cafeteria), painting, writing novels (not recommended as it takes so long). Basically any way a Sim makes money short of having a job but with good grades paying think of that as your (relatively low paying) job. Other than bills you won't have any required expenses unless you move out of a dorm into a house - then you would have to stock the fridge too.
