Hey Everybody!

I was wonderin if your Pet could stay alone at home (like when your Sim leaves for work) or if it would be taken away like toddlers and kids? Will there be a Pet-Nanny or something like that?

It would be kind of stupid if they couldn't stay home alone.

Oh that is a good question!!

I would think they could cause in real life they can. Maybe this is where training well comes in so they don't chew and mess up your stuff while you are away from the house.

In one preview they mentioned Kennels...where you can leave your animals. So maybe the animals are picked up by the Kennel persona dnt aken there and then when someone comes home they are dropped back off? It also mentioned that the Kennels had different prices because some were crap and some were nice.

But when would you use the kennel? There's no vacation..Would you have to leave your pet at the kennel when they go to work?
I hope they can stay home alone..

If they can't stay home alone, my sims will NEVER have jobs. I want to be able to watch my pets all the time! :D

Well pets can have jobs and any sim with a job can stay home by themselves. Using game logic it would seem they should be able to stay home alone.

I thought I remember reading somewhere that there will be a pet sitter that works much like the nanny. However, maybe it's possible for a hack to be made where your pets can be home alone?

I think it'll be more like a safeguard rather then a have-one-or-die, in regards to the pet nanny, I reckon you can leave your pets home alone, but if they run out of food/water (this is all just a theory, I don't even know if food bowls will stay good for longer then a meal.) then it's stats might go down far enough to get them taken away, but a pet nanny would refill it and prevent this from happening.

They might have meant the sort of kennel that you have in your back garden, like a little wooden shelter thing for your dog. I'm just guessing...

Mabe they just have to be an adult dog and the puppys have to have someone home?

You could leave them home in the Unleashed Pack, so why not in this one?

Aye, but the unleahsed pack had Great danes that come up to your ankles and growable crops you can harvest daily, so if youre comparing to sims 1 we cant expect much! :P

Maybe you only have to stay with them when they're puppies/kittens, but when they grow up you can leave them alone?
But either way, I really hope they can be left alone..

I will most likely lock my pets outside when i am gone, like in the yard or something. But if I put them in one of my apartments then...my Glamour Life furiniture will suffer!!

Well, since in real life they are able to, the n whyy not? Only the baby pets won'yt able to cuz they need to be looked after, like someone said, you could fill thier bowls up in the morining, and then let it last the whole day (And beside,s if you have a teen, it e like 9-1)

hmmmm but in the game kids arent able to stay at home alone either... but in real life kids stay at home alone all the time... i hope pets will be able to stay home alone after they are not puppies/kittens anymore...

If there's a pet nanny, I hope that the pets can watch TV and go in hot tubs...

i think maybe it could depend on 1 if its a puppy or kitten with no adult dog and 2 if the pet is well trained or if they arent whether or not you care if the pets destroyes your furniture....just a guess though of course

I'd say it's more common for people to leave pets at home alone than it is for them to leave kids home alone. Sure some families leave their kids home alone but I always had my brother (teen) with me until I was about 11. Even at 11 my friends would be like "OMG YOUR PARENTS LET YOU STAY HOME ALONE?!".

Well i thought I had read somewhere you could get like pet-nannies to stay with them

I'm pretty sure that your dog or cat can stay home alone... However, they will probably destroy your house. (scratch up your couch, chew things up, etc)

i think pets should be allowed to stay at home but they need to be able to get out of the house, it's mean to make them stay locked in a house all day

From what I've read - the pet nannies would only help stop the animal from messing up your house, and wouldn't be a necessity. It sounds like you can leave a pet alone at home.

Anyhow will the lock feature you can stick them outside in a fenced area or locked inside a room with all the food/drink they need. Sounds cruel but do you wanna keep your furniture or not?
And besides, we trap sims in rooms WITHOUT food for our enjoyment so it's hardly anything but the norma - haha!

I hope so. I hate that the game yells at me for leaving a kid home for an hour when his parents come home at 4PM.... maybe "It's not a good idea to leave Rufus at home" if the dog chews furnature? lol

well i found this topic interesting, i think im going to leave my pets alone hopefully without a nanny and if they do have to go out i will have to fence in my yard.

I think that 'pets' will be able to stay alone at home. I heard that if you didn't train them good enough, they will destroy your house and/or your garden...

I know how stupid would it be if you get in troublefor leaving your pets at home?

"We are here to collect your pets seeing as you have left them at home for an extended period of time. They had no option but to tear up your furniture. You should be ashamed, what choice did they have?"

:P  that would be funny. Now all of a sudden we are the guily ones.

Pet fences are looking like the go at this stage.

Hey, I hope the little dogs can't climb under fences! XD

That is a thought SimFreak. If dogs can dig holes then they might can dig under the fence to get out or in. I think I will have a pets room with a door to a outside fenced in area. I will lock the adjoining door to the rest of the house when the sims are out. That way they can have the best of both worlds. There should be some kind of atomatic feeders for pet. I have no idea if they are, but I am sure someone will make them. We can also put alot of treats around the house and outside. Wonder if we can put them in our backpacks?

I know this is not the sims online. But on there I would always put my pet in it's pet carrier untill I came back from where ever. It's like they are in a freeze mode. Ofcourse, this is not the same and we will be watching the house while the sims are at work, but not when they are on a community lot. I'll stop my rambling now.:)
