How can I make my sims get sunburnt? I can easily make my sims freeze but I just don't get how to make them sunburn.

Have your sims stand outside while wearing outerwear in the middle of summer. They should heat up soon enough. The hot tub is also good at warming sims up insanely fast.

Erm.....doesn't that make them set on fire, not get sunburn?

Yeah. They burst into flames! Not a good idea unless you want to kill them horribly.

Make them drink chocolate from teh chocolate machine. They will heat up in no time. The downside is that they might burst into flames soom after if you don't change the wheather or lower their temperatures otherwise. I never would have thought it to be possible, but one of my sims died of heatstroke in the middle of the night because of a cup of chocolate. It was quite funny. I wish maxis made it possible for them to enter the fridge to cool off. I mean they need some emergency cooling options.

So drinking hot chocolate makes your sim get a sunburn?? Weird.

Oh yeah you've got to be careful with the hot tub, as I said, its heats sims up insanely fast. Keep your eye on the temperature thingy and their skin should go sunburnt. It won't stay like that for long though.

I forgot a sim in the hot tub. I was lucky, I got him out in enough time that he did not burst into flames but he had heat stroke. I also froze that sim, I was too busy watching his kids build a snowman and forgot about him.

Haha. Poor thing.

I know he almost ended up dying, his wife came running with the hair dryer when I froze him. He was so cold I could not get him to the cocoa machine.

lol where is the hair dryer? I can get my sims to freeze easily I just make it winter then change into their swim suits make it snow and then play snowball fight.
But I also did the hot tub thing (I changed it to summer) poor sim was in there for sim hours till she finally caught the tub and her on fire but I can't seem to get them sunburned does that only happen with custom skins?

This reminds me of a sad yet funny thing that happened in my game once.

Dina Caliente visited Don Lothario and she went into his hot tub. I forgot about her, and awhile later I saw the grim reaper! She must have burst into flames. xDDDD

All the previous posts seem to have got sunburn and heatstroke mixed up :S .Sunburn just have your sim sit outside in the middle of summer in bikini's/shorts(whatever you have them wear) and eventually they should get a reddish tinge to their skin. That's sunburn.
Heatstroke is what everyone else has been talking about.

I know the difference between heatstroke and sunburn. My sim ended up with it after being in the hot tub in the summer. He may have gotten sunburned also because he was red for a few days.

I had a pregnant sim that I had outside gardening in the summer and I kind of forgot about her (she has a big garden) the next thing I knew she was sunburnt all over and suffering from heatstroke, her daughter had to come over and toss a glass of cold water on her face to get her going again, see here (http://www.forums.sims2community.com/showpost.php?p=855103&postcount=492) when she came inside to take a shower the sunburn was also on her shoulders, back and upper chest

also, I use custom skintones, not the maxis ones

That is exactly how my sim looked the day I forgot about him.

It doesn't matter if you have custom skins, the sunburn is an overlay much like the blueish one for vampires.

Aw, it's kinda cute Bettebob. And people say that maxis never makes anyting realistic...

thanks Sizza, the funny thing is, that's the only sim I've ever managed to sunburn and it happend to her again when she was an elder (for different reasons, she wasn't pregnant that time)

Does the skintone effect the sunburn? Like when you have a darker skintone, the Sim won't get red easily ...

Since it's an overlay, it won't show as much on dark skintones. But no, it doesn't work like "dark people don't get sunburned". Just think about it, how would it categorize custom skins? ;)

And with it being an overlay, it can look odd indeed on strange colored skins -- my one sim to get sunburned as of yet is an alien and thus looked outright injured when she got sunburned...

:doh That's true .. I should have thought about that ^^
