I would just like an answer to the following.

If an item of clothing shows in Badyshop does that mean it should be usable in the game.

If I were to download an item of clothing for which I do not have the supporting EP, would that clothing still show in bodyshop

No, because the EP provides you with the mesh. If you dont have the mesh, you cannot use the recolors.
