Woo first post.
Searching through my folders, I found some older photos of when I was in the more "modern" housing frame of mind. Basically it was my attempt at a Huf Haus.

Those tall, spiral pine tress come with "season" or other expansion?
By the way, I never thought that kind of wall (white with wood lines, you know) could be used on a modern house. But it works really well!

Uh, they came with BV I think...if its the big ones you're talking about.
As for the wood thing, my inspiration comes from these "flat-pak" houses. http://www.huf-haus.com/gb/intro.html
Thanks for the comment :)

Blake, that row of stores is cute :)
Playing around with some new windows I got from the Booty last night, I decided to build a mountainish type home. A bit more fitting for Denali River than terracotta roofing. Anyway, here it be:

Of course! Your houses look great!
Of course my house is nowhere near as beautiful as yours, but i do like it. It´s easy to play and it´s a starter.
And the door was one that was sitting in my downloads folder for a long time without being used. I think it looks awesome. It´s so Art Deco style.

The first house I built from floor plans of an actual house. It's a New England colonial, and I think it turned out just beautifully. I took pics of all the rooms, but here's the kitchen. It's one of my favorites. I took the pic from the living room archway, and over the half wall you can see the dining area.

For this darling domicile, I created the wooden siding myself. And because in the picture it was so small and so close to the road, I thought "I wonder if I can turn this into a starter home?". And I did everything I could to do so, while still making the outer home look like the painting by this wonderful artist. I am proud to say that I have achieved both! :D
The house is unfurnished, but you do have indoor plumbing which you may keep or sell until you find work to maintain this home.
All work done by me; outer wallpaper done using Word Perfect Suite 8.0 templates and Home Crafter.
Yes! It is a starter :D

Babolat - All of your homes are amazing, but I must admit that the last one has stolen my heart! When can I move in? *big grin*
shery00 - I really love starter homes, personally I have issues staying within the budget! *lol* I just have this thing with kitchen and bathrooms...
Daisie - How cute is that? *smile* I really love the red brick and the blue panel together!
Blake - I think your shops are really nice, and the house looks great with the different roofs! *smile* Sadly, I've never managed to make the individual roof slope cheat to work!
DarkestBlu - I love the kitchen shot, I can really understand if your in love with the house. It's lovely! *smile*
coltraz - Seeing a home like that make me think that maybe, maybe, I'm not the traditional kind? I love it, it's perfect! *hearts*
angel f - Your little starter home is lovely! *smile* And I agree with Babolat, the door looks great with that house!

Being the fanatic of minimal art that I am, I feel kinda ashamed of not being able to make nice minimal houses in the Sims. I have a couple of books about minimal architecture, but all my efforts have been useless.
I've tried doing the "house 2/5" (I think somebody here made it too). Hell, the book has even the blueprints of the house, but I can't read them properly.
So I just made it my own way, basically keeping only the main corridor and the glass walls. It doesn't do justice to the real house, but...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v437/Viki/Sims/snapshot_00000015_b4f6d853.jpg
This is the main wall
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v437/Viki/Sims/snapshot_00000015_94f6da02.jpg
And here is an overview. It's not finished yet. I have to furnish the bedrooms and put the visible ceilings. Sorry about the construction lines. I usually remember to remove them before taking the photos when I'm building, but this time, I didn't.

Here is the place I was working on yesterday. This is the first time I've made a house that basically mapped out in my head, and drew, before going into the Sims and blindly erecting walls.
It's impractical, sure, but I really like it. Plus, it's a beach lot!
I think I'm going to upload this on MTS2 if it's not too much a pain...

I finally got around to working on the ugly blip of my neighbourhood, a beachhouse which I had no idea what to do with, in the end I deleted it all and started again. I'm happy with the results. Not sure who I want to live in it though, as this is my first attempt at a beach house, I'm not sure if I can tolerate them continually flocking to the beach (well, rocks..).
The front is unspectacular as it's unfinished:

Inspired by this little (well, not so) house I found: http://www.dreamhomesource.com/georgian_house-plans_DHSW32078.hwx
I attempted to make it ingame. It was a little tricky at first as the property was fairly hilly, I think it turned out alright.

Seren and Babolat, please keep uploading pictures of your lovely creations!
Ohh Keely! I adore your setup! I really do, you should see my setup of the Waterford's house right here:
It's a 2 family home, I just moved them in last night. They live on the first floor. I'm about to put the pictures of a couple of their rooms in the favorite rooms thread. They live in (front of the woods of) Abney by the way. As well, I moved in one of the prizes of a contest I'm judging; She lives on the second floor. By the way, I changed my mind about shrinking Phinnius...

 you're actually posting here and not on the IRC Blake? :p Haven't seen ya in a while!
Yeah, I was thinking about what I wanted to do with the roof. I didn't want to have a flat one, but it looked a whole lot nicer on the side with more space, also I wanted to give it that this side was old, and this side was added on feel, but it didn't fall though considering how mixing 2 different wall textures do not work unless you know how to wing it. But it isn't incomplete. It actually completes me. :D

I decided to play copycat with this home (copy and existing house and build it in Sims 2) The one I chose is just a great example of the "Gingerbread" style that was available in the 1850's-1900's. The gingerbreads theme is a style that included color, delicate posts and intricate designs around the porch.
Its adorable and well priced.

This is a house I've just finished building for a contest in which you have to build a house for a family of 8 and the exterior dimensions of the house can be no bigger than 6 x 7 tiles.
This house was built on a 3x1 lot and has a living area (in the basement) a kitchen/dining area, 5 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms, plus a roof garden.

TingTong and I.nfectious, I love your tiny houses! That's some crazy building  I haven't mastered the cover-up slope fence yet. In fact I was contemplating using for my newest house but there was so much going on I didn't want to confuse myself anymore
Daisie, I love all your houses! Yours and plasticbox's are about the only ones I use in my game :)
So here's my aspiration-failure-inducing newest house. I named it after the Sim I made it for, Asha Cavanaugh. So it's called Cavanaugh House. I don't usually build modern houses and there were some interesting design elements so I thought I'd give it a go. Turned out pretty decent I think :D

Note to self: work more on pools and gardens. I don't know why, I loved decorating them in the sims 1, but here I feel like I'm missing many things!
Anyways, lately I've been working on some apartment blocks, not inspired by any particular style, jut trying to make them fit in an industrial city downtown. Here is the last one:
Front view
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v437/Viki/Sims/snapshot_00000015_15151736.jpg
Back view, it is very ugly, I'll work more on it (maybe)

Outside view of one of the attics:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v437/Viki/Sims/snapshot_00000015_55151854.jpg
I only made one of the flats habitable. Have you seen Blade Runner? Well, I plan on having sort of a J.F.Sebastian Sim, living alone in an half-abandoned block. He will be living with a servo. I'll post pictures of the flat/attic in the favorite rooms thread.

Babbelsim - Apple Plaza looks just as pretty from the outside. You've done such a fantastic job.

Unfortunately I was too late to enter the Maxis Home Makeover Contest, but I've decided to 'play along' with some of the ideas, and here's the first result: a revamped exterior of the Pleasant's home. Sheryoo: I love the attention you paid to the garden. It’s very realistic
Babolat85: Sooo pretty. I love the snow, but it makes my game run so slow that none of my towns have winters unless I really need it for some reason.
Himawara206: That house has so much character. I'm kind of obsessed with it. I really need to make something like that for my game.
Ting Tong: That house looks like something you’d see on MTV Cribs
Elly001: I love it. I totally looks like the house that my yuppie aunt and uncle live in.
Dosymedia: The porch is really nice. I never can make nice looking porches
Here's mine. I love making log cabins. It's been my obsession since The Sims 1 Vacation came out.

You guys really know how to build amazing lots ;):!:

I built a pier community lot for my custom hood. I thought it came out very cute. This is the welcome center for the settlement, so there's a small office to help new immigrants as well as visitors.

Boardwalk from the pier to the office.
I've been doing a TON of building on flooded lots in this hood, and it's a BLAST, except when I accidentally UN-flood a lot by placing a new lot too close to it, or accidentally make the road go underwater. I don't have FT, so I can only edit my terrain in game by placing more lots. XD

@tingtong: this modern house is really stunning!
@ciaoalora: that's a beautiful makeover - great!
@shery00: I love this house! It has such a great design.
@quinctia: Although it's simple it's very charming. Especially the landscape!
@all: Thank you for your nice comments on my slum lot. :)

I don't post in here often, because I'm not such a great house builder. But I kinda like this one, so I thought I'd share it.
I basically have an obsession for houses with yellow siding and blue shutters.

I have done a shabby old cabin from a picture and did the walls and floors by myself and it looks very spooky, I think :)
