The kitchen didn't used to be so cramped, but when I installed Seasons, the stairs had to cut into the counterspace so I could restructure the attic to be classified as "indoors." Believe it or not, though, it's still way bigger than MY kitchen!

Babolat: it is indeed a round wall (recolor of a cyclonesue mesh to match my walls) It doesn't blend perfectly with the actual wall in game though.
And I love the pile of toys in your pic. I think clutter is what makes sims pics look realistic.

Princessainshu: I love the split level in the last pic. Such a nice idea. Make the sleeping area more intimate.

Fashion victim: great attention to details. Like how the rug is rigged in your 3rd pic, as if someone just moved the trunk.

I love all those rooms. This thread is really inspiring! If I didn't came here from time to time, my own homes would be very monotonous. This thread encourages me to try styles I wouldn't normaly try. Like colourful houses, lol.

Anyways, here's one of plasticbox's little homes. I love them. This one is the house of my first bachelor servo, Victor.
What I tried to achieve here was a subtle masculine look, and a house to celebrate small parties with intimate friends. I don't usually play popularity sims, but I'm fixin that!

I agree! However, you can also make pretty rooms. It's a matter not only of talent, which many of our members have, but also being patient and learning lots of tips and tricks.


If you want to make some fabulous rooms, as opposed to playing the game, you should check out some design websites, some 'home decorating' type sites, and just have fun playing around with the furnitures and so on.

It helps to have a decent graphics card, too!

I love this thread because it is so inspiring. Keep up the lovely work, everyone. I don't have a lot of time to play or decorate rooms now I work but do love to see what you have all done!

Mieley- thanks! i've found (through much trial and error) that if i don't pick a color theme and carry it through-out the house (or at least the open/connected areas) i can't decorate for beans,lol.

The invisible window (http://hideki.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=241705) is just a means to add extra light; it won't show on the wall and you can use the space to hang paintings or whatever. I use it for pretty much every room !

I haven't posted in a while and I realized I haven't taken any pics of my rainbow legacy home, D'OH. I did snap this one when I redecorated a room for the second generation heir, Apricot. Her generation's color is orange but I decided to mix in the other colors on her bedspread and sort of decorated from there. It's quirky and fits her quite well :)

A few pics of a legacy spare's house, if you follow my legacy in my LJ here's where Clementine lives now. She's very, um, passionate (bitchy, grumpy, cranky, etc. :lol:) and actually quite romantic when she wants to be. She's really only nice to her husband. And kids, she's the first mom I've had in awhile who never, ever puts her babies on the floor and always feeds them and changes them right away. Anyway, I wanted a nice, calm house except for the bedroom where her true personality can shine.

No harm to the eyes, and it makes me want to eat candy, for some reason. LOL! The soothing greens in these current pictures are so calming and relaxing, I want to kick up my feet and read a book there..and then just nod off to sleep.

44 Coffees: That kitchen is amazing. The color combination is great. Not too matchy matchy, but defiantly in the same range.
BabbelSim: I love 10 Sim Lane! You really made it look gorgeous! I’m stunned at how nice it turned out. Sometimes Maxis’ wall/floor combos are really wacky and I always used to change them, but you made it work.
