Part 1

Hi! My name is Lara Day. My family moved to Summerset what seems like years go but was really like only a couple months ago. Anyways, my parents seem to like it here, so I guess we're staying. It's not like Summerset is the worst place to live, but anywhere with my family isn't going to be that good.

Oh, this is me! Oh my gosh, the other day I went to the salon and they told me to cut off all my hair because it was going to be like the new style or something... I was like 'No WAY!' Thankfully, no one talked me into doing anything I would regret, and my hair has never looked so fabulous. Don't you think?

This is my Dad. Yeah, can you say 'computer nerd?' Well, I wouldn't expect much more from him. I mean, he does fix computers for a living. Anyways, he makes my mom happy, so I guess he's alright.

This is my mom. She was never really very pretty, but my dad seems to like her enough to stay with her. She is a businesswoman here in Summerset, and her job is actually the reason why we had to move here.

My little brother Stephen is like the cutest toddler I have ever seen. He must get his looks from me. He is the only one in our family with natural curls, and they just fit him so perfectly! I mean, like any little brother he can get super annoying, but I still love him.

Lucy and I don't really get along that well. I mean, I don't really have a lot of time in my schedule to help her practice her chess strategies or try and solve some... math problem or something lame like that. Anyways, we aren't really that close. Who can blame me for not wanting to hang around with her? Look at her! What a geek.

Just Another Day ... Part 2

I'm getting a little nervous because the spring prom is right around the corner, and I don't even have a date yet! I'm like only the most popular girl in the school, so it would be an utter travesty if I went to the dance date-less! I really had to figure out something because there was no way that I was going to become the laughing-stock of the entire school if i went to the dance without a date.

"Hey Mandi, do you want to come over for a bit? We can talk about the dance," I said into the phone.

"Sure, give me a few minutes. Should I pick up Ashley on my way?"

"For sure. We totally have to plan out what we're wearing for the dance," I said.

"Ok, see ya soon."

I hung up and flipped the phone onto my bed before heading downstairs to wait for Mandi and Ashley. On my way down, I passed Lucy was was talking to her best geek... I mean, best friend... Peter Johnson. I should have known that Lucy would pick the nerdiest person, next to her of course, in the entire school to be her best friend.

Back to the point... I needed a knock-out date and an even better looking dress to this thing. Seriously, the senior prom is like the biggest event in a teenager's life. I mean, only the coolest of the cool even go. Sure there are always a couple of wall-flowers, but all you have to do is avoid them and they'll leave you alone for sure.

"Hey guys!" I exclaimed as I hugged Mandi.

"Ok, so who is everyone bringing to the dance?" I asked as I gave Ashley a hug.

"Oh my gosh you guys, guess who is taking me?" Ashley teased with a smile.

"Who?" Mandi and I both demanded.

"Taylor Hill!" Ashley screamed.

All three of us squealed and nearly jumped for joy when we heard who had asked Ashley to the dance. Taylor Hill was one of the most popular kids in the whole school. Yep, he played football, lifted weights, and was in the coolest rock band in Summerset.

The three of us sat outside underneath my favorite tree and discussed everything from our dates, to our dresses, to make-up and hair. We were trying to coordinate rides for the dance when Mandi's cell phone started to ring. She glanced at it slightly and then whipped her head to look me straight in the eye.

"Oh my gosh," Mandi said in a serious tone.

"What? Who is it?" I asked.

"It's Braydon MacCallister," Mandi spat out.

We all started screaming until Mandi hushed us and opened her phone. She answered calmly and talked to Braydon for a few more seconds befre looking over at me and handing me her phone. I took it slowly and raised it to my ear.

"Hey Braydon," I said quietly.

"Lara, how's about we hang out sometime?"

"S-sure. When did you want to?" I asked.

"Tomorrow after school?"

"That sounds great," I replied.

"Great. I'll see you then. Oh, and Lara?"

"Yes?" I asked hopefully.

"Do you have a date to the prom yet?"

Oh. Sweet. Lord. Was he going to ask me to the prom?

"No," was all I could manage.

"Ok. I'll see you tomorrow."

"Bye," I said quickly and snapped the phone shut.

Another chorus of screams echoed amongst us as we talked about the possibility of Braydon MacCallister taking me to the prom. Braydon MacCallister was the most popular guy in the entire school, and anyone who got to go anywhere with Braydon was the luckiest person on earth. And now there might be a chance that I would be able to go with him to the senior prom!

I said goodbye to my friends, as it was already after 10, and I headed upstairs to get ready for bed. Afterall, I needed my beauty sleep for me and Braydon's little "pre-prom date" tomorrow. Peter must have left because Lucy was lying on her bed - reading of course. What a geek.

"Hey," Lucy said over her book, never breaking her eye contact with the page.

"Guess who is asking me to the prom?" I excitedly asked Lucy.

"Hmm?" She managed to mumble.

"Braydon MacCallister!" I screeched.

"Awesome," Lucy said and turned the page.

"Whatever," I scoffed. "I don't even know why I'm telling you this."

I slipped into my jammies and climbed into bed. Looking over to Lucy's glowing light beside her bed, I squinted my eyes and demanded for her to flip ot off so that I could get to sleep. All I got in return was a mumbled 'no' and another turn of her page.

"Just Another Day"... Part 3

It was only 6am when I woke up, and I noticed right away that Lucy was still sleeping! This was SO unlike her. Ususally Lucy was already downstairs, totally ready for the day, already laready eaten and reading a book! And there she was, still in bed after me. This was wierd.

This morning it smelled liked Mom had made pancakes... my favorite! I sat down to a steaming hot plate of breakfast and proceeded to stuff my face. I was about half-way through my pancakes when I heard someone shuffling up behind me. I barely turned my head to see Lucy.

She was standing there, looking like she literally just rolled out of bed and tossed her hair into a ponytail. I mean, she never really looked that good in the mornings... well anytime for that matter. But today she looked terrible!

"Nice look," I scoffed and turned my head towards my food again.

All Lucy did was sneer in my direction, grab her notebook and headed for the front door. By the time the bus came, Lucy was still sitting under the big tree going over her homework. What a geek.

"Luce, what's going on?" I asked suprisingly sincerely as I took a seat next to my sister.

"What do you mean?" Lucy spat.

"You're like moping around the house. You were still sleeping when I woke up!" I exclaimed.

"What's your point?" Lucy snapped agian.

"You just seem wierd, ok? I don't know it's different than any other time... but whatever."

And with that I slipped off the seat and found another towards the front of the bus. What a brat! I'm like totally concerned about her, and she won't even tell me what's wrong. It's probably something geeky anyways - I don't know why I even bothered.

The school day passed by SO slowly. I think it went so slow because I was hanging out with Braydon after school. Oh my gosh, so Braydon is like the hottest guy in the whole school. Why don't you judge for yourself...

I hopped off the bus and ran into the house. Even though I had like 2 hours until Braydon was coming over, I was too excited to sit still. Lucy came moping into our bedroom and literally like sucked all the enthusiasm out of me. This had to stop. Now.

"What," I demanded.

Lucy looked at me for a moment before speaking.

"Maybe I should go to the prom..." she said uncertainly.

What was I hearing? LUCY wanted to go to the PROM? This was SO unlike her!

"You're going to the prom?" I asked in disbelief.

"What don't you think I could find a date?" She snapped.

"No, it's just not like you to want to go," I replied.

Lucy picked with the sleeve of her school uniform before speaking again.

"Do you think I can get a date?" She asked quietly.

"Well," I started out tenatively, "First things first... Are you seriously going to the prom?"

Lucy nodded her head.

"Ok then. We have to get you a dress," I said as my eyes lit up.

We pulled up to the Summerset Strip shortly thereafter in search of the prefect dress for Lucy to wear to the prom.

Lucy browsed the racks like they were covered in liquid poison while I dug into everything.

I pulled out at least 4 dresses that I thought she would like and shoved her into the dressing room. When she finally found one she liked on her, she came out to show it to me.

It was perfect. Not too flashy, but still a little sexy because it was so short. Lucy loved it, so we wrapped it up and headed back to the house. I could tell the whole way home that Lucy was still a little nervous about something, but I couldn't tell what she was nervous about. Maybe it was about the "date" part.

"Um... Lara?" Lucy asked quietly as we stepped out of the car.

"Yeah," I said as I handed the dress over to her.

"I dont know if I want to go..." she finished.

"What?!" I exclaimed. "You just bought a dress!"

"Well..." she trailed off.

"This is UNbelievable!" I shouted and stomped into the house.

You try and do something nice...

"Lara!" Lucy called after me.

"WHAT?!" I exploded, whipping my body around to look at her.

"I don't know how to dance!" She said with a little smile on her face.

My expression lightened slighty, and I actually found myself giggling a little bit at her outburst. I walked up to her and asked her why she was so nervous about dancing. Dancing was easy. But I quickly understood the second she showed me her lame dance moves...

"Thanks," Lucy called over her shoulder as she dissappeared upstairs.

Right when I was about to gussy up for Braydon, there was a knock at the front door. My heart jumped at the simple sound, and I had to physically stop myself from sprinting to the door. The door opened, and with a small smile, I greeted my guest.

"Hi Braydon."

"Hey Braydon," I said calmly.

"Hey, how's it goin'?" Braydon asked me.

"Oh it's going pretty well. How was your day?" I asked.

"Eh, it was alright. I am a lot better now that I'm here with you," Braydon flirted.

Oh my gosh... Braydon MacCallister was flirting with me! I smiled shyly, and we talked for a few more minutes about our rather boring days at school. Braydon was not in private school like me and Lucy, so I never got to see him at school. Public school seems SO different than private... it's crazy.

"Should we go in and play some cards?" Braydon asked.

I lead the way into my house and prayed to God that my mom had done something useful with herself and cleaned the house. I mean, Braydon MacCallister's mom must keep his house pristine! When we headed into the gameroom, Lucy and her best geek... I mean best friend... Peter were playing chess next to the card table.

I rolled my eyes and lead Braydon over to the card table anyways. When I looked back to see if Braydon was close behind, I couldn't help but scrunch my face as I noticed that Braydon was watching the game slightly as he walked by.

Wierd...

"Do you know how to play poker?" Braydon asked as we took a seat at the card table.

"Ohh yeah," I started. "I'll give you a run for your money."

Braydon laughed, and we started the poker game... just the two of us. Just the two of us? Oh my gosh, I am playing cards alone with Braydon MacCallister! I screamed inside and tried to keep my cool as he dealt me in.

We played for what seemed like hours until Lucy and Peter broke our concentration. They were laughing so hard that I could barely even hear myself think. And when I heard Peter snort? I was fuming! I knew that there was NO WAY that Braydon wanted to be around these geeks. I snapped my eyes to Braydon, but didn't see what I was expecting. He was looking at the pair with the tiniest smile on his face.

"Braydon," I cut his concentration. "Are you going to the Summerset prom?"

"Uh yeah," he started, prying his eyes away from the geeks. "Are you?"

"Well, as long as someone asks me. Yeah, I'm gonna go," I answered.

"Awesome. Um... I need to go to the bathroom. I'll be right back ok?" Braydon asked.

"Sure," was all I said.

Braydon stood from the card table and headed towards the bathroom. I watched him walk: what a cute butt! I heard Lucy saying goodbye to Peter and I was elated that he was leaving finally. Maybe Braydon would ask me to the prom today!

When Braydon came back, we took a dip in the pool out back and talked some more about the prom. I told him who Mandi and Ashley were going with, and he didn't seem suprised at all. All three of them went to public school together, so he knows everyone there. Anywho, Braydon went back inside to change out of his swimming suit, and I told him I would be in shortly. I layed under the sun for a moment more until the sun started to go down. When I rounded the corner of the house, I stopped dead in my tracks.

"Hey since the dance is tomorrow, we should really try and work on your hair," I told her.

I smiled a mischeivous smile and lead her upstairs.

"Why don't you try on your dress so we can see how your hair would look best," I offered.

Lucy complied and proceeded to slip into her new dress. I watched as she stepped in front on the mirror and started my act. I raised my hand to my head and scratched it slightly.

"What do you mean?" Lucy asked.

"Well, look at the fabric around your hips... It's all bunchy," I lied.

My next trick was sure to bring her over the edge. I gripped my stomach and pretended to gag as my eyes raked over her body.

"WHAT?!" Mandi shreiked.

"I KNOW! I was like thinking 'why the heck would Braydon want to go with Lucy?' You think she would have just stayed out of his way..." I yelled over the phone.

I thanked her and hung up the phone. This whole flirting-with-Braydon thing was still really bothering me. She totally screwed up my chance to go to the dance with Braydon! I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself down.

The next morning, I woke up and didn't say one word to Lucy as we got readt for school and ate our breakfast. The entire bus ride to school was in silence, and I just about died when I looked over to see a dreamy smile playing on her lips. Oh, she was very pleased with herself.

I clenched my teeth together and stormed to my first class. That was the last time I saw her until we got on the bus to go home. She took a seat next to me, boxing me between her and the window.

"You know, you haven't even said one thing to me all day," Lucy finally pointed out.

I sat there and looked out the window, saying nothing.

"Hello? What is your problem?" Lucy asked me as we stepped off the bus.

"You're my problem!" I screamed as we walked inside the house.

"He didn't ask me!" Lucy defended herself.

"But he WOULD have asked me yesterday if you wouldn't have stolen him away from me!" I yelled back.

"Hey! I didn't steal him away from you... You never even had him," Lucy snapped.

I took a step back and narrowed my eyes. I had enough of her. Stomping up to my room, all I could think about was getting Braydon and making him my date to the dance. I stormed out of the house past Lucy and towards Braydon's house.

"Hey Braydon," I said in my most sultry voice as I walked up his driveway.

"Lara!" He said with a surprised smile on his face. "What brings you here?"

"Well," I started, "I was thinking about the Summerset prom."

"Are you going?" he asked tenatively.

"Not until the cutest guy in Summerset asks me," I said with a smile.

"Oh yeah?" Braydon asked, lifting an eyebrow.

"And that's exactly what brings me here," I finished.

"Well, can I ask you to the dance then?" Braydon crooned into my ear.

I smiled and gave him a quick peck right on the lips before I flipped my hair, turned around and walked back to my house. The entire walk home, I could not stop smiling at the thought of me and Braydon dancing together this weekend.

Thanks for the feedback, and this is what I have to say... I don't change my stories at all for the sake of the readers. In fact, I already had all the chapters of this particular story written (and associated with the pictures) even before I started posting!

"Just Another Day" ... Part 7

I was going to the senior prom! And with Braydon! All my dreams had officially come true. This was seriously going to be the best senior year anyone could ever have. I couldn't stop smiling as I thought about tonight. Yes the Summerset senior prom was tonight! But there was still one tiny, annoying thing on my mind...

Ok, Lucy isn't like the worst person to have for a sister, but she certainly does put a damper on a lot of things. I mean, like take the prom... She was just fine staying out of my way and doing her own thing with her geeky friend Peter until like a couple days before the prom. And why did she want to go with Braydon? I mean, of all the people in Summerset she should have wanted to go with her fellow geekoid friend Peter.

I shook my head slightly and walked over to my closet, pulling the dress from its bag and setting it on the bed. It seemed like I just spun right into it, and I was totally ready! Tonight was going to be SO much fun.

I walked downstairs and passed through the living room where I got a couple whistles and ogling from my parents. Yeah, they know I'm the cute one of the family. I smiled to myself, grabbed my purse and walked right past Lucy and out of the house. I was meeting Braydon at the dance.

When I got to the dance, everything looked fabulous! My friends were already there with their dates dancing and I caught a couple of eyes as I walked over to the far wall to wait for Braydon. Mandi smiled wide and waved to me, and I even saw Ashley trying to get my attention as she was dancing with her ricker boyfriend. My train of throught was broken when I saw Braydon running up to me.

"Hey!" He said, a little out of breath.

"Hi Braydon," I said right before he kissed my cheek.

What a gentleman.

"I'm so sorry that I'm late. There was a problem with my tux..." He trailed off.

"Hey it's cool," I said.

Braydon stood for a while to catch his breath and then turned towards me and reached out his arm. I took it quickly, and he led me out onto the dance floor. We started to dance, and it felt really good being in his arms.

After quite some time of silence, Braydon started to fidget. He finally spoke up.

"Is Lucy coming?" He asked.

Suddenly, the room seemed to have doubled in size because I felt like the smallest person there. I looked into his shifting eyes, and I couldn't stand it any longer. I mean, not only had I been thinking about what a brat I was to her for the past three days, but now Braydon had brought her up while we were dancing together. I slowly distanced myself from Braydon's hold and looked around the room.

I looked back at Braydon who was looking very confused.

"I'm sorry," I started. "I can't do this."

Then I turned and hoisted my dress off the floor and ran out of the building, leaving a very confused Braydon MacCallister alone on the dance floor.

"Lara? Lara!" Braydon called after me.

But it was too late. I was already away from the dance and running further away from him.

"Just Another Day" ... Part 8

Halfway through the drive home, I began to cry. When had this all happened to me? How had I become so distanced from my own sister. All my life I felt like she was a part of me; she was my twin. I blinked my tears away and pulled up into the driveway.

"Lucy!" I shouted into the house.

No answer.

"LUCY!" I yelled even louder.

"What?!" Lucy snapped, looking down at me from the top of the stairs.

"Come down here," I said, looking to the floor.

Lucy walked down the stairs slowly and stood in front of me. When she saw that I was crying, she laid her hand on my shoulder and asked me quitely what was wrong.

"I'm sorry Lucy," I said through my tears.

"What's going on?" Lucy asked softly.

"I was to mean to you the other day when you tried on your dress for me. Braydon asked me if you were coming, and I know he wants to be there with you. You looked beautiful Lucy," I rambled out of order.

"Braydon..." Lucy started to ask.

"Braydon asked if you were coming to the dance. He wanted to ask you, but I butted in and he asked me before I gave you a chance. Please come to the dance? Please?" I pleaded for her sake.

"Ok," Lucy said, nodding her head, "I'll go."

I smiled through my tears as Lucy reached towards me and gave me a much-needed hug from my twin sister.

"We need to dig out another dress and get you all dolled up!" I said into her ear.

I took her hand in mine and lead her up the stairs and into our room. I rustled through the closet until I came up with the perfect dress. It would look gorgeous on her. I watched as she slipped into it and smiled to myself when I saw her standing there looking almost as beautiful as me.

"Ok, now we'll put just a little bit of make-up on you, and you'll be ready!" I said.

When all was said and done, Lucy looked beautiful.

"C'mon!" I said and ran downstairs to the car.

We both ran up to the door of the dance and straightened out our dresses before Lucy lead the way in. I saw right away that Mandi and Ashley were looking at Lucy like they had never seen her before in their lives. I was beaming.

"Braydon?" Lucy asked quietly as she tapped Braydon on the shoulder.

The look on Braydon's face when he turned around was completely priceless. He stood there looking at her with his mouth open slightly, and his eyes taking in her beauty.

"Lucy... I didn't think... Would you like to dance?" Braydon asked.

I watched for a moment as Braydon lead Lucy out onto the dance floor. They turned a few heads as they started dancing, and I couldn't have felt more proud of her at that moment. Taking a deep breath, I looked around the room to see everyone with a date... Well, everyone except for me.

I turned my head to the chairs in the back and nearly fell over when I saw him. This was by far the most beautiful man I had ever laid eyes on, and I could barely see straight as I tried to take in his beauty.

"Hi," I finally said to him.

"Hi," he said, extending his hand.

"I'm Lara Day," I introduced myself.

"Nice to meet you, Lara. I'm Mitchell MacCallister. I'm Miss Thompkins teacher's aid," he informed me.

"Are you Braydon MacCallister's brother?" I asked, wide-eyed.

"That's me," he said.

I thought for a moment about everything that had happened in the last week, and I looked back to Mitchell.

"Would you like to dance Mitchell?" I asked.

Mitchell smiled and took my hand, leading me to the dance floor. As I passed Lucy and Braydon, we gave each other a quick wink and then relaxed into the arms of our dates.

The dance was indeed the most memorable event of my senior year. But it turned out that it wasn't the actual dance that meant the most to me. It was my new-found relationship that I had found in my twin sister, Lucy.

Its the main reason why my stories take so long to play out (cuz Im always using the TAB key to get all the angles just right). Its awesome to know that youre reading my Poverty Challenge as well. That story is a little different than the other ones I have made (myself but never posted) so it would be nice to hear your thoughts about that one as well. Anywho... Thanks again! :)
