Kith blinked, looking at the place where Calliope had been a few seconds ago. The ones in the crowd who hadn't followed her remained behind to look at him, with their questioning eyes waiting for a reply from Kith to confirm Calliope's innocence.
"Um.." He let out a nervous laugh. He never did well under pressure. "Hi there, I'm Kith!" The crowd looked none too impressed. "Uhm.. Come on, how can you accuse her? She's too cute! Even - even a hobbits more suspicious than she is!" He grinned a little at the thought of a suspicious hobbit, oh what a thought!
He sidled over to a big leafy oak, to get himself out of the centre of attention, hoping that his efforts to stick up for Calliope were good enough. Phew.. some of these people are just.. crazy! he thought. Maybe he should stay away from the crowd for a bit. He looked around for other, more sane people, who weren't so affected by Ring-mania.

OOC Layre would like to talk to someone too but uhhh, she won't approach anyone she's a loner ;) Oh and powerplaying is playing someone else's character for them....you probably should be careful with that, especially at this moment in the contest as personalities haven't really been established....I'm not trying to mod i swear! :D I just know what it's like to be new to all this...i just started rping with the darkness inside.

I have to agree with Devoshka. No one has gotten a chance to establish their characters, and it wouldn't be fair to play them for someone else. If you must use someone else's character, I would suggest using only little things, like maybe a small action or a small comment or question. It's not as big then. Anyways, I'll stop preaching now. ^^

Silas tilted his gaze at Madeline's inquiry. He paused, then said a little louder, "We really do need to destroy the Ring. It's cursing us already." He could hear all of the faint accusations against this girl who stood next to him, and he visibly wilted; his ears lowered, his face melting into a sad, concerned demeanor. He didn't understand how they could think this girl, this shy, quiet little girl, was a traitor. There was a moment of awkward silence between them. Then, slowly, Silas wrapped his arms around Madeline's shoulders in a supportive embrace. "I enjoyed meeting you," he said quietly. He didn't know what else to say; if she had not heard the accusations, he did not want to tell her.

I think I have the technique figured out, and honestly I have Infernal calling me a Godmodder to thank for it. :hmm:
The trick to this type of RPing is to have your character do one thing that draws another character in, but doesn't control the other players character. For example:
Vasquez walked over and sat down next to Orehael, then made a comment to him about how she hoped that we weren't sacrificing an innocent. It was only about a 2 min time frame that was written up. I left it at that, for Alexisaiger to comment on as her character. I never mentioned Orehael's reaction, his movements, or any long extended periods of time between us. Alexis then responded with Orehael's reaction to Vasquez's comment, again only writing about her character, and not mine.
Where I made my mistake the first time (and I sincerely apologize Infernal), was that I created dialogue by Algernon. And I see a lot of that happening here, as well as a longer period of time written up, such as "We sat and talked all night", etc.
So I suggest, because I'm new at this type of RP and I know that several others are too, that we follow the guidelines of writing only short periods of time so we aren't controlling other peoples characters, and never write a response or reaction by another character.
I hope that all makes sense. I think this way, it'll keep it fun and enjoyable for everyone. :)
EDIT: I'm sorry. This sounded very bossy when I re-read it. It's not intended that way. I was just trying to help the other new players figure out the best way to write up their RPing posts. :( Must be the mommy in me...:lol:

Im not suprised this is such a spam fest! there is no need to say you are going to RP later,
And just because you run out of RP-ing posts doesnt mean you should post normal OOC posts just for the sake of it...
this contest is really putting me off RP, I am sorry to say.
MagicBeans, thanks for that post, it really annoys me if people try to play me, especially in the early stages like this..

Aaron loved being surrounded by all these new people, everyone looked so new and fresh from the people back home at Apple Caves.
He decided to approach a young girl, Layre her name was.
Although a bit nervous eventually he pucked up the courage to introduce himself...
...Hey, my names Aaron...

I really don't care if anyone powerplays me as long as neither of these happens:
1. Calliope is made to say/do anything suspicious or incriminating.
2. Calliope acts in a way she normally wouldn't. I described her personality in my application in case anyone RPd with her. It's long, and I suspect that not everyone cares to read it, so the main points are that she is always nice to everyone, she's terribly indecisive and she constantly daydreams about beautiful things (herself included, she's terribly narcissistic and self-consumed).
So yeah, Godmod me to your heart's content. I suggest doing it soon though, as it looks like I won't be here much longer :(

Layre looked up from where she was sitting to see an attractive elf come up and introduce himself. ...Hey, my name's Aaron...
Layre slowly stood up, and looked up at Aaron but not quite in the eye. "Hi, I'm Layre," she said quietly. "I noticed that we're going to be going to the same place." A faint blush rose up Layre's cheeks as she had really not communicated very much with others other than the old healer. She liked the look of Aaron, he didn't seem all that comfortable in this setting either.

Caara sat on the ground with a small book in her hand. Her bright blue eyes quickly scanned the page with ease. She had always been a very quick reader, and she planned on finishing this book today. In the margins, she had written the names of cities, that way, if she should happen upon a map, she could find a way back if things got to be too much.
But she did not expect them to be too much. She was brave, strong. She'd do just fine. She then looked around, closing her book and replacing it into her satchel. Maybe she could try to socialize.

If you're going to take over Kith, I won't mind, as long as you keep him bubbly, extroverted, naive, optimistic and attention-seeking. Just bear that in mind :)
Oh, and don't make him do bad stuff either! And I won't use any of your characters (without permission), other than basic interactions :anime:
EDIT: In fact, please do use Kith, especially when I'm not there, I don't want him to be a boring never-there character just because he's chained to living in GMT. :(

Kith noticed a girl sat on the floor, her head buried in a book. She didn't seem to want to get too involved with the fuss of the crowd. Maybe he should go over and talk to her? He stood as tall as he could, searching the companions for Calliope's fuschia hair, or maybe that other guy whom he'd had a brief, wordless conflict with. Finding neither, he made his way over to the book-girl, who had now returned her small book to her satchel. He crouched down next to her, startling her.
"So, what's that you're reading? I'm Kith, by the way" he offered a hand in greeting.

"A book." Caara said simply in her small voice. "And I'm Caara." She responded to his handshake with a half-smile. She then realized the rudeness of her first two words to this boy. "It's a book about dragons. It's very good. I'm almost through with it. I'll probably read it a few more times if I feel like I should."
She then laughed a little bit. "I'm sorry, I've been speaking too much. I have a small habit of that."

Horrible shrew woman. The man with the cold, empty eyes. And the feet on that woman... so mannish. She ought to have facial hair, that one. Calliope's thoughts ran over her accusors, disecting every one of them and even a few who had simply looked at her at the wrong moment. She washed her face in the cold river water, making sure to keep a fair amount of distance from where Silas was. As much as Calliope loved attention, now was not the time to seek any. But, once her face was washed, she really didn't want attention from any of those horrible creatures she was grouped with. Kith, maybe... but he was busy. So she set off to the local pub.
In the pub, she recognized a man from the group. One who had not accused her.
"Hello. My name is Calliope. Would you like to drink with me? I fear my time is short..."
(meant for Algernon, but really it could be anyone who happened to show up at the pub)

RP: Durin anxiously waited for a reply, unconsciously smiling as he thought of Amethyst's talent with stones. If only she would accept... As she began to speak, Durin felt the urge to look at her bag sweep through him, stronger than ever. If only he could hold off on that... Plenty of time later, if the partnership didn't work out anyway....
Durin chuckled at the thought, but cut off when he saw that Amethyst's reaction to his proposal had turned sour. He hastily snuck his wandering hand back, hoping she had not noticed. Hang on, a sapphire -
"I do happen to know a lot about stones. For example, your face is currently the color of a deep red blood ruby."
Durin winced. He realized that he was indeed blushing furiously, almost as much as he had been when talking to Eleniel. She had, surprising him, not turned out to be the loose an' love struck girl he had expected her to be after he realized he was with her. She was wonderfully forgiving and perhaps the only person who didn't find him repulsive.
Amethyst continued to berate Durin as his mind wandered. How could he have confused common sapphire with the luminous quality of mithril? And how, oh how could he have let himself pick at her bag?
"NOW, if you'll excuse me..." Durin saw Amethyst edge away from him, as if afraid of him. His stomach churned as he thought of her piercing gaze, his inability to notice that common sapphire wasn't his revered mithril, and the fright of a sacrifice.
The next thing he noticed, a loud voice shouted "Leave it!" He felt his arm spring back from Amethyst, whom he had apparently been grasping. He gave the speaker, Haydar, a startled look, and broke away from the two of them. What on earth just came over me? he wondered. "Please, let me get through this alive", he murmured as he slunk away from the women's accusatory stares.

Algernon watched Calliope enter the pub.
"Hello. My name is Calliope. Would you like to drink with me? I fear my time is short..." she said.
“Don’t worry bout it much, and sure, I’d love a drink,” he replied. He knew that many of the group had something against this person.
“Ay you! Send me two rounds of MannAle,” ordered Algernon.
“We ‘ont serve dat here no mowre” said the gaudy man.
Algernon flashed his sword from underneath his cloak intentionally, then eyed the man down.
“Well, we ‘ay ‘ave sum, but I got lot more folk ‘head of you” he said.
Algernon pulled out a gold bag. He felt the eyes of the entire pub on him. He popped out 5 gold pieces, and stacked them neatly on the bar. The gold was only a mere fraction of what Algernon had, yet 5 pieces was nearly 2 day’s pay, even for the higher classes.
“Can we get it a little bit faster?” queried Algernon
The gaudy man took the gold greedily, and returned seconds later with the two drinks. Algernon heard mumbles around the bar, but passed them off. He slid a drink to Calliope.
“Care for this?” he asked.

Calliope slouched into a seat next to Algernon as he passed her a drink. Completely oblivious to the scene that had just happened, as well as to what the drink actually was. Without so much as a glance in his direction, she sipped the drink. The taste of it twisted her face into a bitter scowl. Then she downed half of it. She shut her eyes. The effects were already setting in. She turned to Algernon with a goofy smile spread wide across her face. "Thanks much sir. By what name shall I call you?" She reached out to put her hand on his shoulder. "Oh, my appologies... may I?"

"Oh sorry" Kheelan sighed "Please say" Arion asked soothingly. "If we go to Apple Caves, that is my parents home land as well as my birth place, it would be so nice to be there again" "Does your parents live in Apple Caves?" "No they are with me in Eelvin, this place holds lots of special memories for me" Arion nodded her head as silence filled the air.

Silas wrapped his arms around Madeline's shoulders
This friendly gesture startled Madeline. She had never been truely embraced or hugged. She stood still, waiting for Silas to let go, but after a few minutes passed she relaxed under his arms and leaned against him. He looked as if he was carrying a heavy burden, and this made Madeline sad. So she smiled for him.
"I enjoyed meeting you", Silas said. "I really enjoyed meeting you too..." Her smile grew.

Algernon pulled out two pills; one red, one blue. He handed the blue one to Calliope, who was getting drunker with each swig, and popped the red one.
"What does this blue one do?"
"Keeps you from getting wasted"
"What about your red one?"
"Makes me even more wasted" Algernon said with high ego.
A brawny, noble looking man approached him. He looked weasle like, and his smile was crooked and cruel.
"I saw you flashing quite a bit of your gold" the man said.
"What's it too ya?" Algernon replied
The man talked about a high stakes poker game, and Algernon couldnt resist. He walked up into a private room where four other men sat. Each had a hefty bag of gold, but the crooked smilled man had a full pouch.
Before they started, a poor man walked in, begging the crooked one to be let off.
"I told you, if you didnt pay me back the 20 gold, I will have my guards execute you" he said
"But, I only borrowed 1 gold piece to buy some bread! This is an outrage! I have a family to feed!"
"Not my problem"
The poor man was escorted out. The game started up and played through a few rounds. Finally, the game came to its climax. The crooked man had put his entire bag on the table, ensuring he had the lowest count. Algernon noticed the bag was labled from Lethys, and was obvioulsy stolen Algernon was the only one to take him up on his offer. The man flipped his hands, with two "One Cards", Algernon was lucky enough to have both "Zero" cards. Before he could take his winnings, his hand was grabbed.
"Im afraid I dont take kindly to cheaters, you're mind" the man said, pulling out a knife. Algernon whipped out his bow and two arrows, shot them, and pinned the man by his sleeves against the wall. He smiled, picked up the bag.
"I dont take kindly to assholes who steal from the poor"
Algernon took the bags and headed out the alley very quietly. He saw the poor man digging in the trash. His good side overtook him.
"Come here poor man, take this bag and use it wisely"
"MY GOD! This must be over 200 GOLD!" screamed the man
"Take it, and leave this place. There is a ship leaving next morning to Lethys. Go there with your family and meet up with a woman named Attica, who is in the plaza. She will give you shelter and work" he whispered
"God bless mate, I owe you my life"
Algernon nodded, and walked back into the plaza. Apparently, the scene in the gambling room had already spread.

Sorry Paco, I was just reading through the pages and just saw it. There is one right place out of 28. ANY city can contain the Hidden Palace, so either of them could be right, or either of them could be wrong. Only one city has the Hidden Palace, so you can lose 10 food points either way (If each are wrong).

So that everyone knows, Amethyst is also up for godmodding, just use Magic's magical rules. ;) lol My 1st RP of the day below. :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The look she gave Haydar was a mixture of her leftover anger and a thankfulness she just couldn't express. As soon as her arm was released, she roughly brushed by Durin, tears welling in her eyes. She had never felt so scared and so relieved in her life. She ignored the awkward stares from Eleniel, Lynnia, Haydar, and anyone else who was watching as she ran towards the forest. She stumbled through the low bushes and tree roots and came to the clearing. Finally alone, she allowed herself to collapse into a sobbing heap. She cried herself to a restless sleep, where the only dreams she had were nightmares of herself being sacrificed...
She awoke with a start, as she thought she heard the sharp crack of a snapping twig. Standing up, she proceeded to brush herself off and gather up her bag (making sure the sapphire was still in it's place). Slowly and warily she made her way back to the camp through the hazy forest. As she approached, she heard talking, yelling, laughing which made her sad, in a way, because it dawned upon her that she really had no friends in the group.
Durin watched her stalk past the place he was sitting, turning to follow her movements. "There's something really odd about her," he thought to himself.
Amethyst eventually found Haydar, sitting at a seperate campfire from Durin (thank the Spirits, she said to herself). She sat, almost apprehensively, down on the log by him, her mind searching of a way to thank him. She suddenly came upon a solution. She, as an experienced jewler, could indeed charm stones and caress them into what shapes she pleased. She gently took the black sapphire from her bag, and coaxed it into the shape of one of Haydar's tatoos.
"Hey," was all she could think to start a conversation.
"Oh, hi."
"Um, I wanted to thank you for what you did for me this morning."
"Sure. It wasn't anything, though..."
"Well, nothing or something, I'd like you to have this..." She said, handing him the black gem on which reflected flames danced.
"Wow. Gee... thanks." He said, putting it on. "What do you think?"
"Rather..." She searched for the right word, "Dashing. You look rather dashing." She felt her cheeks flush, and turned away. "Well, good night."
"Night!" Haydar called after her.
As Amethyst quietly strode off, she ignored the gazes of scrutiny from some members of different campfires. Her mind wandered from Haydar to the seperate campfire where many of the suggested sacrifices sat, and their anxious wait to hear who really was the first to die. She tightened up her coat as a brisk breeze blew across the field where the encampment lay and hurried towards her tent. As she fastened the 'door' behind her, she thought to herself, "What if I'm next??"
Ya know, writing "Let's stop spamming before bP comes to the thread" reeeeeally doesnt make me want to go easy on the spam warnings.
Initially I didnt think that these strategy/RP contests were too difficult for members to handle, but if you all keep spamming every time someone hosts a contest like this these types of contests may not be hosted on this site in the future. Its really all up to you guys.
Nelinde accepted Dex's hand and gave it a firm shake.
"The name's Nelinde Eluchil." She said softly as she took a seat on the grass.
The pair fell into silence as they pondered their situation, but Nelinde found her mind kept falling back to the Ring.
"So..." she began, as a means to sidetrack her mind, "...umm... so I guess we should start out learning a bit about each other. I come from Copperstone. I was raised by my mother, but I've been on my own since I was 18. I've been trying to find my father, but that's turned out to be fruitless..."
Before she could finish her babble, she was distracted as people began to wander away from the large group. Is that Algernon? And Calliope? What are they up to? She thought. Where are they going?
It was already nighttime and I was sitting at the fire. My mind wandered around ... "Amethyst ... " I didn't know what to think about her. The gem she gave me was so beautiful, she truly knows her craft! But actually it was too much - I hadn't done enough to deserve this ... But I knew that it was important to her so I took it.
"I think I should talk to her again tomorrow morning ... Maybe we could become friends, she seems to be very nice." "And pretty as well." said a second voice in my head.
When the fire had nearly burnt down I decided that it was finally time to go to bed. The next day would be important!
Korinne walked around the darkening grounds. People were drifting off to sleep now, yet she was firmly awake. She heard a leaf rustle in the distance, and could someone only a few metres off, but with her bad eyesight she could not tell who this person was from where Korinne was standing.
"Yes of course you can" Arion sits besides Kheelan, he smiles, pleased that she had come to talk with him "May I ask your name please" "Arion" "Pleased to meet you, I'm Kheelan" Kheelan heard a giggle from this wonderful person "I love your voice" "Why thankyou" "Your welcome" the two of them sat in silence waiting for their next instructions, Kheelan's face contorted as he hoped so much to be in his birth place, Arion noticed this and dared not to ask first but cursioty had gotten the better of her politeness, "May I ask what your face is about?" "Oh sorry" Kheelan sighed "Please say" Arion asked soothingly. "If we go to Apple Caves, that is my parents home land as well as my birth place, it would be so nice to be there again" "Does your parents live in Apple Caves?" "No they are with me in Eelvin, this place holds lots of special memories for me" Arion nodded her head as silence filled the air.
Kheelan looked as a nice person to Arion maybe she made a mistake when she asked about Aple caves. . . She knew how hard is to be far away from home but eaven to get back . . . It was a hard feeling. that she experienced, but she could manage it. . . time was passing in silece. . . everyone was suspecting everyone 'Is hard to trust some persons . . . even you. . .' wisperd Arion to Kheelean. ' i know that you fell the same . . . everybody is feeling this, you can trust you and only you. . .' continued Arion. 'Yes is true' answerd Kheelan. . . looking up to the sky . . . and start thinking. The time was passing. . . everybody made a friend . . . or they think they did.Arion is just realist . . .then she spotted a lucky trefoil near Kheelean. . she piked it up and gave it to Kheelean . . .' I hope it will keep you luck, because mine it seams that is floating away.' and Arion flown away from the place she was seating and whent at the river, the time was near, they had to move to the next place, and they had to make a sacrifice . . . then a diamond tear fall down from her soft face .
"A book on dragons, Caara? Maybe later I'll have to borrow it. If I may. Oh, and don't worry about it! I'm the worst of the lot for talking, I think." he hopped to his feet.
Everyone now seemed to be busy conversing with someone else. And he still couldn't find Calliope. He tried combing his messy black hair with his fingers. That might make him look a bit more impressive. Or at least a little older, he sighed. He kicked a stone around the ground for a bit, then took a coin from his pocket.
"Hey, Caara. Heads or tails?"
"Um.. Heads. I don't gamble though-"
Kith flipped the coin, and it landed tails-up.
"Looks like I win" he grinned. "Well, while I'm still lucky, I'm off to the tavern!" his hand went subconsciously to his hair. If I can get in, that is... "Catch you later, Caara!" he tapped his right shoulder; this salute was used in the army, but the younger generation had borrowed it and made it into a gesture of greeting.
The tavern was smoke-filled and grimy. Just how they're supposed to be. He felt his pockets for some spare cash. Five coins.. is that it? It was all or nothing. If he bought into a game of poker and lost, he'd be broke for the rest of the trip. But if he won... He already beat Caara in a coin-game. He was on a lucky streak. He banged the five coins down on the wooden table nearby. "I'm buying in, five pieces" he sighed. Oh how he hated his gambling instincts. The four other men around the table eyed him up and down. As best as they can, Kith noted. That guy only has one eye. One or two men let out a guffaw at the sight of Kith. "This in't 'opscotch ere, ya ken!" one growled. "Lasses canna gamble, ya ken!" snorted another. Kith tried to stop himself from answering back. "Mm." he grunted in reply. He hoped it made him sound hard. The men howled with laughter again. Kith just blinked, he didn't know what they found so hilarious. They dealt the cards. Six.. and a seven.. Kith sighed. "C-Check" he stammered, putting one coin down. The other cards came out. Ace.. Seven.. and a Six. Two pairs. He crossed his fingers under the table. "Check". A large, hairy man let out a laugh.
"Raise four pieces!"
Kith couldn't believe it. Did he gamble it? The three others folded their cards. "Check." he confirmed. They both laid their cards. And the other man had... A pair! A pair! "HAH! I WIN!" Kith exclaimed, making a grab for his winnings. The hairy guy had got there first though, scooping the winnings off the table in triumph.
"Oi! They're mine-e! Gerroff!"
"Oh yeah? And you're goin' to stop me?" he laughed, standing up and towering over Kith, who whimpered.
"I won that, though.." he protested. But the other man had strode off to buy more ale.
Demoralised, Kith left the tavern. His ears drooped in disappointment, and he felt his empty pockets. But what was that? He felt another coin.. It was the one he'd tossed earlier with Caara. He glanced back at the tavern. Should I?...
-------
OOC: Someone come save Kith before he squanders all his money on gambling! At least he hasn't had a drink, yet :p They probably didn't serve him at the bar, he's too young looking. And I don't know why we're suddenly in Glasgow, with the accents, but oh well ^_^
As Serenity stood back she couldn't help but notice everything going on, it was one of the things she learned from her mother. There was the ones down by the river, the ones who left toward the tavern, the ones out exploring and the ones who were just staying back; some were relaxing and some were watching everyone else. "I can't believe I made my voice heard to silence another person, and I know I'll have to do it again." Tears started to well up in her eyes, she wiped them with disgust. "There's nothing I can do."
She didn't want to head toward the tavern because the smell in them always made her feel sick. "I don't want to just sit around waiting, waiting for something to happen." She took a deep breath and walked up to the first person she saw "Hello," she was taken aback by the eyes. They were deep, there was a lot of soul; a lot of experience in them. "I'm Serenity, and you are?"...
Algernon had disappeared, leaving Calliope alone in the bar. His blue pill might have worked, if she had taken it... He didn't stay long enough to make sure she used it. That blue pill ended up in the first unattended drink.
She passed out a few minutes later....
Normally, they'd have thrown a passed-out drunk into the alley, but since she was a lady, they moved her into a corner. She awoke to the four men laughing at Kith.
Uhhrmmm... Why must those awful creatures disturb me with their cackling... She stumbled to her feet and waited for her eyes to focus. As well as they would anyway, through the drunk-goggles and cigarette smoke. Aaaah, these men are awful! Not a one of them worth my time she thought as she walked toward the door. Then, she spotted Kith. "Kith! Come with me!" she hooked arms with him and dragged him out the door. "Over here, over here..." When they were away from anyone who might hear them, she pulled out a pack of cards. Leaning in to whisper in his ear, "I stole these Kith! Look at them, they're the best cards in town!" She fanned the cards out for him to see. They were ordinary cards. "Let's go play with my cards Kith!"
(hopefully, I didn't cross any lines by dragging Kith out of the bar...)
I would NayanRose, but Kith is still sulking outside the tavern, wondering whether to go blow his last coin on poker. :D His eyes would likely have a lot of tears in them anyway, rather than soul =D
EDIT: Now he's not, he's playing cards with a drunken Calliope :p
"I'm Serenity, and you are?"...
Her hand extended within inches of my face, almost forcing me to look up and see who was standing before me. I was surprised to see this young girl standing in front of me, tears welling up in her eyes. I rose to my feet, wiped the dirt off of my clothing and shook her hand.
"Vasquez. This is Orehael" He lifted his hand and waved, then went back to staring at seemingly nothing. "He's not much on talking I'm afraid."
I stepped back, opening up a place for her. "It's kind of nice over here. Relaxing and peaceful. There's room, if you want to sit for a while."
OOC: Eek. Maybe I should be writing longer pieces? Mine are always so short...but now I don't know if I can even really do much with anyone else, so I feel pretty limited. *sigh*
"Calli-!" Kith made a feeble protest.
"You- don't want to play with my cards?" her words slurred into each other.
"Of course I do, but," he looked at her eyes, those lilac eyes not unsimilar to his own. Except, of course, dilated and unfocused. "Calliope, are you drunk?"
Silly question, actually. Best get her out of this place he told himself, looking over to the tavern door where drunken men cackled inanely.
"Come on Calli, lets play cards over here!" he led her over to the camp, sitting her down by a tent. "Wow, these are some impressive cards. You deal? I'll be back in a second."
Kith went to his pony, a plain grey thing by the name of Pip. From the bags still strapped to its torso, he took out a silver hipflask. He opened the top and sniffed the contents. Eugh, whiskey. He hated strong spirits. This usually earnt him nicknames such as Lightweight. Nonetheless, he took a swig and cringed as it burnt his throat.
When he got back to Calliope, she was slumped on the floor, cards strewn everywhere. God.. she's dead! Kith cursed. He took another mouthful of whiskey, pulled a face, and rushed over to her, finding that she was not dead but in a drunken slumber. Oh..
At least I don't have to gamble with my last coin, I guess. Kith smiled and sat down, and began to pick up the cards and put them away. Then he realised that Calliope was laid in an awkward way, and wondered whether he should carry her back to a tent. You can't be seen carrying a lady into a tent! his conscience told him. But, Why not? said another part of his mind. He compromised by moving her a bit, so she at least looked more comfortable, then fetching a blanket from Pip. He looked at his efforts, and smiled. That'll have to do, I guess. He drank a bit more Whiskey. Strangely, it seemed to lose its intensity with each mouthful. As did the world, actually. He felt a bit giddy, so sat down and drew in the dirt with a twig. He made up a tally of the votes he'd heard against people so far. Sighing, he looked at Calliope. It doesn't look too good, girl... Maybe if I move a vote to here, or this vote is cast here.. he sketched it out with the twig, trying to come up with a plan, fighting with the alcohol. Oh, screw it. He kicked at the dirt-chart, sending the writing and lines back into disarray.
I waved slightly as Serenity joined me and Vasquez in the shade beneath the trees. I had only looked at her briefly, but that was all I needed--she was a beautiful elf...or was she? No, not an elf. A half-elf. As I stared into the air, I couldn't help but wonder what it had been like for her growing up. Had she been raised with the humans, or with the elves? I wondered if she had faced the same shame I had. Growing up with no control over magic had made me an outcast among my own kind--had she faced similar circumstances?
I shook my head slightly, trying to forget the flashes of memories that were now filling my mind, as well as trying to shake the urge to befriend yet another traveler. First Vasquez, and now Serenity. I knew I could trust no one, so why did I want so badly to hear the stories these two may have to tell, to learn about their lives, and to share my own story? I needed to get back to my solitude before these ridiculous urges got the better of me, and I befriended the wrong person.
"Excuse me," I said quickly as I stood from my spot and wandered over to the stream. After splashing some water on my face, I sat, separated from anyone else who happened to be finding comfort near the water--finally alone again.
When Aaron failed to respond, Layre gave a little shrug, and a shy smile and said goodbye. Layre decided she didn't want to stick around with this big group of people just milling around the place waiting for the sacrifice. Layre turned and walked in the opposite direction of the town as she had no desire to go to the pub. As she walked along the dirt road, thoughts tumbled through her mind. What is this ring that has such great power? For the hold it has over the one who is in possession of it is awesome. It is an evil ring and must be destroyed!
Layre spied a small meadow a little ways off the road. She left the road and when she reached the meadow, she sat down, and closed her eyes, absorbing the sounds and smells of nature. This is peace.
Sacrifice Day 1 Results
"What do you mean Apple Caves doesn't have the Hidden Palace?"
Those words made Madeline cringe. She had no idea how to respond. It was just a suggestion to go to Apple Caves and now that everyone knows there is no Hidden Palace, she looks like a traitor. 20 other people also voted to go to this city! Maybe it was something else though. Was it her young age? She is 19 years old, maybe they think she can't handle this trip.
Calliope thought to herself quietly as everyone was arguing. However, she was literally screaming in her head. She just wanted everyone to shut up, so they could start the journey ahead. It was only day one and already their is conflict. She realized how much power this ring has and that it can turn friendships into bad ones. The arguing continued, but they were arguing for no reason.
Arion floated away from the arguing crowd to a near by river. She wished for peace, but she knew it wouldn't happen anytime soon. She then realized people were voting to kill other people, and it deeply depressed her. She looked high up into the cloudless sky. It was evening and the sun was just about to set. It was somewhat windy out and she felt cold. She felt her arm and the coldness felt even more harsh.
A group of companions ran up to Arion yelling at her. Arion saw that Madeline and Calliope were both tied up. She noticed that Calliope's neck was bleeding from the rope tightly fastened around her neck. Madeline was crying and she was desperate. The other companions looked angry, but many others were sad.
Lessien was very shy and was hiding from the huge scene. Some could hear her tears of sorrow flooding out of her eyes. Others, like Algernon were excited for the journey, but were completely turned off by this fight.
Minutes later Madeline, Calliope, and Arion...
Were spared. The companions decided to let them go, this one time.
------------------
Yes! That is right! Nobody gets eliminated this first round. There is a reason for this though.. None of the companions actually know each other, so they hardly any evidence or clues on who to accurately vote for. This will prepare you for the next sacrifice and you will now have a better idea of what to do and who to vote for.
The first Execution will be posted shortly.
Unexpected Event
Elendil
As night falls, everyone gets ready to go to sleep. You spot a pale looking creature. She stares mysteriously at the large group. She crawls like a spider towards Kith. He walks toward the odd looking thing, trying to see what it is.
Elendil: Where do you come from?
Kith We live not too far from here. Who are you and why do you ask?
Elendil: My name is Elendil and I wish to help you. I am moving in your direction, but I do not want to be alone for I am frail. The Magrodors of Hinith will surely kill me.
Korinne: Why should we let you travel with us?
Algernon: Can we trust her?
Elendil: I'm a great hunter and I can supply you with much food (+ 20 in each city). Please let me travel with you I am very desperate...
Kith Thirlmére/Haylifer, Korinne Deva/Melanie and Algernon/Infernal please make the decision to take Elendil's offer or refuse it. These 3 people are the ONLY ones that get to vote. They are basically like representatives, but EVERYONE can share their views.
Please talk to your companions before you make your final decision. Please post and discuss in this thread. Note: The 3 people chosen for this bonus round thing was random and they can be companions, traitors, from a third force, ect.
I ______ this offer
You have 24 hours to vote. POST YOUR VOTES IN HERE. And only the randomly picked three people that were mentioned can vote.
A Countdown (http://www.timeanddate.com/counters/customcounter.html?month=5&day=5&year=2007&hour=4+pm&min=0&sec=0&p0=234) for the Execution/Unexpected event.
*Raises hand* I have a question!
Will we have the chance to get more food along the way? Or does it only go down?
EDIT: Gahaha.. I didn't read that last post..
Discuss Elendil! (Do we have to do that in RP?)
OOC uh just a quick question....so everyone goes together in the group or does the group ever split up? also sorry but how does magicbeans have +50? ;) shouldn't it be max 45? thanks
Oh and another question to 'clarify' things for everyone here ;) is the 3rd force able to give supplies to themselves? (it's info for everyone that's why i'm posting it here....)
Haylifer: No, you don't have to do it in RP. I suggest just talking about it, so it's less confusing.
devoshka: Thank you! I must've missed her >.< The group can't split up. It will be much to complicated. I'd have to do a separate sacrifice for each group and it just wouldn't work. I did think about splitting the group up, but I think it would be best just to have one.
Yep, the game will end when there is a same number of traitors and companions or 3rd force and companions, etc.
EDIT: Good luck you guys. Remember to talk to Kith Thirlmére/Haylifer, Korinne Deva/Melanie and Algernon/Infernal about Elendil, because those 3 make the final decisions.
Algernon disliked the talk of sacrificing, its the adventure that hooked him...
This pale creature in front of him was very desperate, it showed. But, could they trust just some random huntress to tag along. Algernon treaded lightly, he already stood to some at a loss. His heart and instinct fought, he wished so badly to help this creature, yet, he had a gut wrenching feeling.
"I'm not sure quite yet," he mumbled.
"Please, I do not want to die, take me with you," she pleaded.
"I think you should just go, I don't want you around me," Algernon said, making a haste decision.
Algernon walked away, not even bothering to see their faces. It was the early morning, and the sun was breaking. He walked up to a high place, and looked out over the distance.
Algernon pulled out the instrument, and began playing. It was unlike the first time. This tune was melodic, beautiful, and enchanting. The music was indescribeable, but hypnotic. It felt those who heard it with joy, but left a feeling of sad realization.
Raltz swooped down ten minutes later, the music was a success. Clutched in his talon was a leather pouch.
"Thank you friend," said Algernon, feeding the bird a few more mice. Raltz was about 3 1/2 feet tall, and had over a ten foot wing span. It was a gargantuan bird, but friendly enough.
"You can come along if you wish. Rest for a while," proposed Algernon. The bird complied, and perched on his shoulder. IT was relatively light, and narrow for such a large bird. Needless to say, Algernon got quite some looks when he returned with a large bird and a pouch that slouched around his waist.
-------------
What does everyone think I should do? Algernon is a sucker for doing the moral thing, as could be said with the poor man. But, he is cautious... hmm
Play around with Raltz, he'll be quite a hoot... or a squawk... or whatever bird call they do.
If there is a downside to taking Elendil, I don't see it. I think it's a little suspicious that she might be "a great hunter" but be frail... Well, she's probably about as likely to kill me as anyone else in the group, so my input is ACCEPT.
The weird old creature stared up at the three of them in desperation.
"It's not my place to say." Kith stated. He turned to Korinne and Algernon. "I think we'll have to find out what the rest of them say about her," he lowered his voice, and added "and find out what she knows about us."
"I guess we'll come to a decision later." he sighed. He was terrible at making choices himself, he'd need the help of those back at the camp. "But for now.." he felt his pockets for something to give her. Just that coin, and he didn't really want to part with it... "I can give you some.. some of this! As a promise that we'll get back to you." He ran to Pip and fetched what was left of the amber whiskey. He still was unsure that its effects had completely left him from earlier. "Have this! And begone for now!"
Elendil retreated slightly, but still lurked in the shadows. Kith sighed and returned to the camp, with Algernon and Korinne.
Silas was overcome with emotion when he realized that the ones who were to be sacrificed had been spared. His head lowered and his hands ran through his hair, eyes closed as all of the tension was released. For a minute, he stood at the edge of the group, looking awkward and out of place amongst them. He shifted back and forth on his feet, then turned his gaze upward. Silas moved to the tree he had been watching only a few yards away from the group's camp and climbed it, resting in a fork in the branches about 25 feet above the ground.
He sat there for the rest of the night, listening to the wind rustling the leaves and enjoying the sweet fragrance of the blossoms. Half asleep and preoccupied with himself, Silas did not even see the strange hunter approach them with a proposition as they all tried to sleep after the day's incidents.
Madeline tried to calm herself down but she was failing. She was shaking, trembling, it was hard to breath and everything was dizzy. She slowly moved to the ground, leaning against a rock. She cried, her body shook. Madeline hadn't expected being voted for and tied up.
She pulled her legs close to her chest and let the tears hit her knees.
Myrra breathed a sigh of releif upon realizing that the three meant to be sacrificed were going to be spared. However immediatly she went back on these feelings, nearly certain it would happen again and that it would be her.
Myrra shuddered, the doubt overwhelmed her. Why was she suddenly so pesimistic?
She looked around, trying to find some way to shake the feeling, and her eyes fell on Madeline who was cuddled up near a rock. Making up her mind, she went to comfort her.
Madeline noticed the visitor. Maddie didn't make a sound, kept her eyes to the ground and remained silent.
She didn't know if Madeline could trust this person, let alone anyone at this moment. Madeline scooted......
Sniffled a bit, rubbed her eyes, and faintley said, "Hi."
I don't know how 123 has it planned or imagined in his mind, but I put my own little variation of the sacrifice scene into this post. Hope that is ok. :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amethyst had ventured out of her tent to hear the sacrifice announcement at midnight. Her silk dressing gown flattered in the wind, which was unusually cold for that season. She watched from the background as the torches were lit one by one around the circle of sacrifice. Then all who were voted for were led into the circle. Durin cast Amethyst a withering look, but she merely returned the gaze. Then, the moment came. All who had one vote left the circle, which left Arion, Calliope, and Madeline standing.... And all were lead from the circle. Amethyst stood in shock, as she was sure the rest of the group did. All sacrifices were laid aside... for this time. Amethyst left for her tent when the group dispersed, her mind dwelling on the recent events.
After the sacrifice, Amethyst laid awake in her tent, staring up at the crimson cloth. The sleep she so desired would not come to her, and she tossed and turned in an attempt to find it. But, in her sleepless state, she heard the comotion near the border of the forest. She ran her hand through her hair in her debate with herself on whether to get up or not. She ended up hauling herself out of her bed and over to the trunk, where her robe lay. She hastily tied it on and crept out of the tent...
She saw Kith, Korinne, and Algernon standing by a frail creature, who was obviously in dire need of assistance. She crept closer, trying to catch a small little snippet of the conversation...
Algernon had mumbled something, to which the strange creature replied, "... do not want to die, take me with you..."
"It's not my place to say," was Kith's reply. Korinne had yet to speak.
Amethyst waited no longer to hear the rest of the conversation, and hurriedly went back into her tent. Strange creatures in the middle of the night wasn't exactly the adventure she had planned on having here. She lit a candle and got out a scroll....
After reading what she wanted, Amethyst blew out the candle and the tent was filled with darkness. She had made up her mind... In her opinion, this creature was bad news. Frail as she looked, she could be a very dangerous threat to the group, and couldn't be allowed to stay with them.
"I do not want her here, she is... not safe..." was the thought running through her mind.
Dawn was near. Amethyst quickly dressed and grabbed her satchel. Dawn was the best time to search for gems, after all...

"Hi"
Myrra could tell the girl was in shock. She really didnt blame her, seeing as she was nearly just killed.
She didnt want to force herself on Madeline, maybe she just wanted to be alone. So instead she stood, quite awkwardly, next to the rock, biting her lip thinking of something to say.
Nothing came, and she scooted up to the top on the big rock and sat down, the thing was so big her feet barely touched the ground. She became quiet, absorbed in her own thoughts and staring off into space.

Oniella: Are Madeline and Maddie the same person?

I don't know about Elendil. Why would a great hunter be so afraid to be alone? And how can she be a great hunter and be frail? It doesn't add up to me.

I breathed a sigh of relief as it was announced that none would be sacrificed on this day. After the initial wave of relief, I cursed myself silently. While the three had been tied up, in a rather painful looking way, I had wished only that Madeline be spared. I had voted for her, and if she were sacrificed, her death would be on my head. But was wishing for another's death any better than the initial vote? Would I not be responsible for any sacrifice made, whether it was my vote that contributed to the decision or not? Any way I looked at this mess, it seemed my soul would be held accountable.
Standing from my spot before the river--the spot I had never left even during the dramatic sacrifice scene--I scanned the group, trying to locate any of the three that had nearly been murdered. I saw Madeline curled up against a rock, but I couldn't approach her. I had voted for her! What would I say? Luckily, I saw another approach her to offer her comfort.
Still, I couldn't locate Arion or Calliope immediately, so I moved from the stream closer to the groups of people that had formed. Despite my deepest desire to remain solitude, I would have to walk among the many strangers that were my companions if I hoped to find and offer my ear to one of the women who had been so ruthlessly tied and nearly killed.

I agree with what most have said here. She seems like bad news to me for all the reasons others have mentioned--how does she know she's going our way when we don't even know where we are going? If she's a mighty hunter, why is she afraid of travelling alone? Not to mention she's creepy looking according to the description...
My guess is she's after the ring for one reason or another. And we definitely don't need some outside being/force putting a wrench in the goal to find the Palace and destroy the ring. Just my 2 cents!

An uneasy silence has fallen over the group. Our destination had been chosen, and proven wrong. But I felt the real reason everyone was so quite was because of the sacrifice. I'd had no idea it would be so public, or so brutal. To just tie them up like that. Poor Madeline, poor Calliope, poor Arion. Their only crime, so far as I could tell, was being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I was not the only one shocked by it. Shock, sadness, dismay, those were the emotions I saw mirrored in the eyes around me. What haunts me most though, is that for some of my companions, their hidden emotion was anger that the sacrifice was not carried out. I thanked the gods that, for now at least, my hands and conscious were clean. I felt a sudden burst of nausea and slipped, discretely I hoped, behind a stand of trees. When I emerged it seemed that none had noticed my disappearance. Edgy and wanting to do something to comfort everyone, I grabbed my pack and went to sit somewhere in the middle of our camp. I smiled wanly at Durin as I passed him. As I passed Dex, I stopped and looked at him. I knew I had to say something. "I'm sorry I voted for you Dex," I said then continued on my way. I sat and pulled out a small harp. I hummed softly as I played a soothing lullaby my mother had once played for me when I was in need of comfort. Outwardly I'm sure I appeared calm, but inwardly I was in turmoil. I had survived once, we all had, but for how much longer? Would any of us ever see our homes again?
As I played, I noticed a commotion over at the far end of camp. Kith, Korrine, and Algernon stood surveying a pale creature. I wasn't close enough to hear their discussion, but watched as the three talked. The pale creature walked back into the shadows from which it had emerged. The appearance of the creature put more undue stress into a situation that didn't need anymore, and what the outcome would be was still left to chance.

Actually, now that I think about it, Elendil kinda reminds me of Smigel (Gollum) from Lord of the Rings...
RP 2
Calliope woke up against the tree. "Errhm, Kith... you looked at my cards, didn't you..." But Kith wasn't there. How embarassing. Whuh, what am I doing under this three, I- ... this blanket smells good. It's not soft though and I'm- I'm IN THE DIRT!! Calliope scrambled to her feet. A group was approaching her as she dusted herself off. Dirt... ants live in dirt... and spiders. I hate dirt creatures so much, I- oh wonderful, those horse-faced brutes have come to accuse me again. Two of them stepped forward and took hold of her.
(sacrifice... you know what happened)
Calliope sulked away from the post she was tied to. She yelled over her shoulder "I haven't done ANYTHING wrong and you'd all do well to remember that!!" So much for winning admiration...
She cleaned up her neck, damning everyone who had laid hands on her. It will all come to them, and I wont feel badly when it does. I hope that cursed ring infects the heart of every one of them. Well... not EVERY one... Calliope cringed at the reflection in the mirror. Her neck was red, bruising and scabbed. Her makeup was smudged, her hair a mess... and people had seen her in this state. Feeling her face start to heat up, she put down her mirror and breathed deeply... closed her eyes, and concentrated. It was an illusion spell. One that would last just long enough for her to get to a room and clean up properly.
She walked back to the edge of the group. Like it or not, she was part of them. She heard talk of Elendil, the strange girl who wanted to travel with them. Looking around, she spotted Elendil. Calliope walked up next to her. "I really wouldn't advise joining them. You're worried about getting killed? They will kill you. You see this?" she pointed to her neck, that no longer appeared bruised. "They did that to me. They intended to kill me, but thought better of it... Wonderful decision, but they're obviously bloodthirsty barbarians. The whole lot of them. Well, most, anyway..." It's dark. Surely, they don't expect me to sleep out here... by myself. She went to find someone who might escort her to an Inn in town... and possibly, to share a room.

Algernon put Raltz on the same post Nero was tied to. The two looked at each other, but took no care. Nero continued to eat some grass, and Raltz prodded his feathers before dozing off.
Algernon sat up his kit up on a table near the post. He unrolled the pack, placing the jars, bottles, and assorted items in neat arrangement. He reached for his pack and put more herbs and items around him. He pulled a book out.
The book was written in an ancient, and extinct text. No one could read it but Algernon. He skimmed through some pages before finding the bookmark. It was tattered, and looked highly frail.
He took some herbs out, and a bottle of potion. He poured careful amounts until he got the right color. He swallowed it all quickly, shaking off a freezing sensation.
"What are you doing exactly?" asked a voice.

However a new challenge had arisen as to whether or not to accept Elendil as a new comer or a traitor.
Kheelan thought that this would be a good choice to have her, then again how did he know that he wasn't going to bring harm to the group, Kheelan had asked Kith what to do "I would like to have her in this group, but concerns me if she turns against us, although is having food and water a mere sacrifice to make?"

It was almost sickening how we all stood around, waiting for one of the young women to be sacrificed. My stomach churned with disgust as I watched them tied to the posts, crying for help. Unable to watch, I turned and walked away from the group - heading back to the clearing where I had heard Saxton speak to me. If only he was with me...
Something made me stop in my tracks. The sounds ... they had changed. I spun around just in time to watch Madeline and Calliope fall to their knees - free from their bonds. Calliope struggled to her feet, grasping at her neck as she tried to stand on her wobbly legs. I started to run towards her, but stopped almost as soon as I'd started. What would I say to her? I'm sorry I voted to have you murdered? If someone said that to me...
"I haven't done ANYTHING wrong and you'd all do well to remember that!!" she yelled out to us all as she headed off to clean herself up. She was right. She had done nothing wrong. So why had I chosen her? What was it about her?
I stood still in my spot, unsure what to do. I couldn't trust anyone, but Saxton's warning ran through my head. Keep your enemies close my love. I closed my eyes, trying desperately to hear him again. Without warning, I was nearly knocked off of balance by someone who apparantly hadn't noticed me standing stock still in front of them.
"Hey! Watch where you're..." My voice trailed off as Orehael made his way past me.
"My apologies" was all he muttered. I watched him continue to walk, unable to look away. I lifted my hand to my shoulder and held the area that he had collided with.
"Enough!" I said outloud. I walked into the pub, pulled a gold piece out and tossed it to the man behind the counter.
"Your strongest." When I noticed the smirk on his face, I added a bit more "Don't even try it." I pulled my knife out of it's holster and thrust it into the wooden bar in front of me. "I said your strongest, not your cheapest."

Hi Vasquez, Orehael I'd love to stay. The two of us watched Orehael walk silently away before sitting down. "I don't mind this many people around, where I come from there's people in and out all the time." There was some awkward silence before I spoke again, "I apologize for sticking my hand in your face, I wasn't trying to..." My ears started to twitch; I could hear some of the companion’s voices, they had started to get a mob going. I tried to ignore them and continue "come on that strong. To be honest I hadn’t even planned on saying hi to anyone." The mob of companions was getting hard to ignore even Vasquez had noticed, but I'm sure she noticed right away as well. "I'm sorry Vasquez, I have to," my eyes were welling up again I knew I had to leave her presence, for now anyway "be alone right now."
I saw the three of them; they all had ropes around their necks. I know I had voted for one of them and was horrified at that thought. I couldn't bear it I went the river and swirled my finger around in it, hoping something would happen... nothing did. I sat there listening to what was going on back at camp... they had decided to let the three of them go. I was so relieved, and like most I just wanted to be alone for the rest of the night.

I finished playing, then decided to write a letter home. Tonight's events had left me more than ever aware of my own mortality. At any time I could be next. After writing mt letter, I steeled my courage and went to ask Algernon if his companion falcon could deliver my message for me. As I approached, I saw him mix a potion then drink it. My curiousity overcame me. "What are you doing exactly," I asked him.

Algernon flinched back. He didnt bother to see who it was
"I'm concocting something..." he mumbled
"What exactly?" replied the voice.
"Not much of your business, but its an Extending Elixir"
"Wait, you mean to extend life?" said the voice.
"Yes, exactly, it contains slight amount of Unicorn blood and wolfsbane"
"Isn't unicorn blood cursed?"
"Not when its blessed by an elven priest...friend of mine."
With that, Algernon rolled his kit back together and walked off. He tried his best to keep the potion a secret, but it wouldnt take long for word to spread that he held a very secret, ancient, and desireable art. He did it on purpose though, no one would want such a skilled artisan dead, atleast not yet.
Algernon patted Raltz on the head, and walked over to a fire pit. He grabbed a bag of powder and sprinkled it on the hot coals. Some liquified, and he scooped this glowing, black liquid up in another bottle. Algernon looked around, hopefully someone wouldn't mind a conversation. He was desperate for some socializing.

Converse with him, keep it casual.. and dont change his character ;)

On my way towards the crowd, to find either Arion or Calliope, I bumped into Vasquez. So intent was I to find whom I looked for, I hadn't even noticed her standing in my path. Though I wished I could stop and offer her more than a terse apology, I briskly apologized and kept moving on my way. As I approached the opposite end of the group I saw Calliope walk up to a strange spider-like creature. I walked forward towards them slowly, eavesdropping on their conversation. She thought most of the group were merely bloodthirsty barbarians, and the idea that someone would think so poorly of me stung my heart.
As Calliope walked away from the creature/girl, I approached her. Talking was not my strong suit, but I needed to do something. She had been through a lot--too much--this night and she surely needed a companion to talk to. I flashed the best smile I could, which I couldn't help but think came out looking more like a grimace, but I ignored my own self-consciousness.
"Hello Calliope," I said with a short bow, "May I be of service? Perhaps escort you to town for a pint?"

RP:
Even after they had been untied, Durin stayed where he was, still. How could they have let this happen? They had become a mob, following instincts with no ear for reason. Though the night was cool, Durin felt sweaty and winded.
While each companion acted as though he or she knew what they were doing, did anybody really? After seeing the fear in Madeline, Calliope, and Arion's eyes, Durin doubted it. And yet, while everyone acted innocent, hadn't they all participated in the sacrifice? Even those who had shown to be disgusted by the attempted sacrifice (though he was unable to tell if they were feigning or not) had not done anything to stop it. They were all so weak... And Durin could not say he was any better.
Later, as Durin strolled slowly on the streets, he realized that out of nervousness he had skipped lunch. Fumbling his short fingers in his sack, he noticed that he was not missing quite as much food as the others. Not as much as he should be, anyway. A chill crept up his neck. What on Middle Earth? he wondered. Who's looking out for me? Or- now his neck burn at the thought- who's trying to kill me?
Hours later, Durin was reeking of a pint he had traded with a villager for one of the many pieces of spiced bread he had left. At least, he thought he had traded it. In retrospect, he couldn't remember the conversation leading up to his acquiring the bottle particularly well. But who had time for thinking back, when there still was nearly a third of the bottle left? He droned toneless lyrics of half forgotten songs from his childhood, which he had learned during the long study hours with his tutor.
"Or there maybe 'tis cloudless night and swaying breeches bear," he sang raucously, "The Elven-stars as jewels white amid their branching hair... Ehr, though here at... At.. Ah, eh, I, I will" (here he hiccupped loudly) "will not say the Day is done is done, not bid the Stars farewell!" He ended the greatly butchered song on a rather high off key note, and giggled slightly as it resonated eerily in the cool air. Light was slowly filling the sky, and the edges of trees and houses began to glow slightly with the dawning light.
Durin swayed to a stop, and then abruptly turned at a glimpse of platinum. "Eh?" A memory flashed past his mind, but for some reason the image of Lyddia stuck in his hair. But that was not right, was it? Turning towards the trees, he heard a gentle rummaging, and saw the long hair of Amethyst as she bent over a stone. He vaguely remembered throwing a glare at her earlier, but the memory was too indistinct to bother him in his punchy buzzing state. To say hello or not was the question. Yet this dilemma was quickly answered as he gave yet another loud and echoing hiccup. "Oops," he giggled, swerving as he made his way over to where she was standing bolt upright.
.....
Song from Return of the King, by Bilbo Baggins himself! Perhaps his tutor was a hobbit? ;) Aw, it seems whenever I have a chance to post, everyone's off to bed!

MagicBeans
5th May 2007, 05:16 AM
Dustin: The RPing is optional. It's mainly for fun, and helps to evolve the storyline. The best thing to do is look for an opening. Watch what other people post, and when you see that someone is having a drink, washing their face in the stream, or any number of other things - that gives you an opening to step in and introduce your character to theirs.
Try it out ;)

Well, I already have all the votes for execution and we already know that the offer was rejected, but I will probably results tomorrow or late late tonight. People in other time zones will miss a lot, so I want them to be able to catch up.
For now, you can RP about really anything. Reply to other peoples RP in character, post about how your character feels, or if you think rejecting Elendil was a good/bad idea, etc. Or you can just not RP at all and just sit back and wait.
Tomorrow will be the next sacrifice.

I just stood there and watched Algernon walk away. How rude, I thought to myself then flushed. My question had been just as rude, mayhaps more so. I couldn't recall a time I had made some many social blunders in so short a time. Contritely I followed after him.
"Algernon," I said and waited til he glanced at me. "I am sorry I intruded on your privacy. I had merely wanted to ask a different question of you. As you said, it's really none of my business. Please forgive my rudeness. It will not happen again." Without waiting for a response I turned and left. I went into town and found a runner to carry my letter to Alaranzo. I returned and tried to get some sleep. I had a feeling I would need it.

I've had enough of this badness, I want to drink, dance, laugh, play... Calliope looked around for companions to invite. "Kith! Algernon! Uh, you there! And you too! Come out with us!"
(not sure who wants to be invited... so if you wanna go, just pretend you're "you there". Unless you voted for her to die, she's still sore about that... but she's a sucker for compliments, and flattery will make her forget the whole thing ever happened ;))

After they untight her, Arion felt her body vanished by powers, she felt down on her knees, her eyes were red because of the tears that were falling, she couldn't fell her hands because of the thight grip of the rope. Maybe it was better if she didn't left Kheelan. . . but it was imposible to get the time back. She saw that some of the people were relived. . . that there will be no sacrifice today.But others were mad somewere in they'r mind. . . Arion used her wings to get away from the crowed. . . she was still shoked by what happend, she whent at the river laying her back to a soft spot of moss that grew up a tree. She was looking at the moon. . . it was so big, and so beautifull. . . she grabed her legs and pulled them close to her chest. she wanted someone to be next to her . . . and she rememberd about her parents.

OOC Oooh we might have made a big mistake.....with rejecting the offer.....Ok guys I have a favor to ask, with the wide range of time zones can you give others a chance too that who might not be in your time zone to voice their opinions? Cause the whole other half of the world was most likely sleeping/etc when this round went up and people voiced their opinions.....so could you wait maybe 12 hours at least before decisions as a group or opinions from the group is taken? I think that's only fair... :)

I woke up of some noises. The sacrifice! I joined the crowd and hoped this wouldn't end to badly ...
I was reliefed when I saw that nobody would be sacrificed this night. "Thank god!" I mumbled.
I went into the forest to clear my mind.
When I returned I saw that creature asking to join our group. "Should we take her?! Her offer isn't bad ... We need more food! But could we trust her? I think we should give it a try, we are 28, she's alone ... In the group we are strong, just in case she's up to no good!
Some time later, the sun was already rising, I saw Amethyst, she was collecting gems. I greeted her.
"So what do you think about the creature?" I asked her.

5th May 2007, 10:48 AM
OOC: Well we don't want Elendil.. so I guess we'll leave her to get drunk on Kith's whiskey in the forest and get eaten by beavers. Or Orcs.
Algernon's getting quite a zoo of animals, isn't he? :p
----------
Kith looked out at the forest, where Elendil still dwindled. We've decided now. Nobody wants her, she'll only be trouble. And we don't know anything about her. But he still felt some pity for the poor creature. And it still had that whiskey. The thought of alcohol quite appealed to him right now. But even if he agreed to the creature coming along with them, the other two had said no. Maybe it was safer if Elendil didn't tag along, anyway.
From where he was sat, he saw Orehael and Calliope heading off to the bar. She shouted an invite out to him, Algernon, anyone that wanted to come along. He took the coin out from his pocket and inspected it. It'd get him a few drinks, for sure. But - it was his only coin! Oh, who cares anymore. I could be dead tomorrow. He went down to the river to examine his reflection in the water; fluffy black hair sticking up everywhere. Stupid hair, he tried flattening it with a bit of water. He didn't want a scene like in the tavern in Yopen to happen again. He best try look tough.
When he was satisfied, he ran along after the tavern troupe. Hopefully someone would feel charitable and buy him a drink.
The bar in Apple Caves had a much lighter atmosphere than that in Yopen, albeit rowdy. A fiddler played a merry tune as townfolk danced on the wooden floor, on the tables, all red-faced and drunk and stamping their feet in time to the music. He picked up an abandoned drink and took a gulp from it. Oh.. Strong stuff, he cringed. It felt like it was going straight to his head. He pulled a silly grin and stumbled to his feet, swaying slightly.

The slight sound of movement at the base of his tree was enough to wake Silas from his half-asleep daze. He shook his head and blinked, trying to erase the sleep from his senses, and as soon as his eyes could focus he leaned over to the side and peered down the branches of his tree.
Down below lay Arion, lying in the moss between the tree and the bank, eyes watching the moon. She was one of the ones who had just been saved; immediately he felt the anxiety come back, the lingering feelings of what had almost happened earlier. "Hello," he called down to her, voice gentle as always. "Would you like some company?"

I was so nervous about everyone, and the tension was killing me. I really had no clue who to trust and who not to trust. Here I was, sitting against a tree, my butt on the ground, and my hands clutched together, as I play with my fingers. I looked up to the cloudy sky, and could sense the humidity of the sky threatning to rain. I stood up and ran to the nearest location - the pub. When I got in, I noticed several people were eating and playing card games, and apparantly, by the sound of the door, they all stopped what they were doing to stare at me. The bartender was the first to speak -
"Well, don't just stand there, lad!" he called out, in a strong scottish accent "Come in and shut the door quickly, before you let the cold in!"
And so I respected him and shut the door, the breeze flowing through the room. I was too shy to speak, and slowly walked over to the nearest empty seat at a table. Everyone resumed to their poker games, foods, and drinks. Out of nowhere, right when I was about to relax, someone barged into the pub, and I recognized her right away. It was Vasquez.
I watched as she stormed to the bartender and demanded some sort of drink. I couldn't hear her words clearly, but I could feel the ire.
I was not intimidated - for I am a man, and men do not get intimidated. If they did they would not be men. In fact, I was quite impressed with this woman. I like a strong woman who can defend herself...so I stood up, brushed the lint from my shoulders and my chest, tucked in my chair, and slowly approached her. Every footstep I made would make me more nervous to meet her, since I knew nothing about this woman, except one thing: she was beautiful. But not my type, of course. I kept walking closer until I was almost beside her, and then I tripped over an iron bar that was lying on the ground. *THUMP* I landed solidly onto the ground, startling Vasquez. I rolled over on my back, and while I was still lying down, I looked up to her, and our eyes met. I quickly got onto my feet and took my hat off before here and was first to speak.
"Do you mind if I sit with you?"

The bartender poured the drink, keeping his eye on me and my knife the whole time. Just as he started to pull the bottle away, I grabbed his wrist. "Leave it" I said, tossing another gold piece down on the bar. He grumbled something that I'm sure I wasn't meant to hear, grabbed the coin and shuffled off to the other end of the bar. I had no intention of getting drunk, but that bottle was mine. Who knew when it would come in handy on this trip we're taking.
Just as I was lifting the drink to my lips, a loud THUMP from behind made me jump, almost spilling my drink. I slowly lowered my glass back down to the bar, closing my eyes for a moment. Why is everyone bumping into me? I turned to see a man in a hat, laying on his back and looking up at me. I'd seen him before, standing off by himself, his hat pulled down over his eyes. Before I could decide whether to be mad at him or laugh, he was on his feet and holding his hat in his hands.
"Do you mind if I sit with you?".
I nodded towards the seat next to me, letting him know that I didn't own the seat, and he could sit where he wished. I downed the drink that I had been looking forward to, then wiped my mouth off with the back of my hand. I could feel him watching me...this odd man in the odd hat. He seemed harmless enough...
Just as I was turning to ask him more about himself, a group of people broke through the door. It was Calliope, the girl that I had voted to sacrifice, along with several other people. One of them was Orehael. As he walked in, our eyes met. They stayed latched for only a second, but it felt like much longer. Why did it bother me so, that he pushed me away only to come in here with this group of people? I broke eye contact and turned back to my drink, my knife, and my new friend. "Names Vasquez. And you are?"
"Miles" he said, extending his hand.
I grabbed on, shook it only once, then went back to trying to dig my knife deeper into the bar. We sat next to each other, neither of us quite sure what to say next.
Just as I had decided it was time to collect my things and leave, someone tapped me on the shoulder. I turned to see Orehael standing behind me, a forced smile on his face. He held his hand out in front of him, a necklace with a large gold pendant dangling from his fingers.
"I believe you dropped this"

Cole wandered around the town. He found a nice creek and decided to sit down and enjoy nature at its finest. He leaned back on the soft grass and closed his eyes. He fell into a deep slumber.
“Can you hear me, Cole?”
“No, no. Leave me alone!”
”It’s your entire fault, Cole. I’m gone because of you.”
“No, Mom. No! It was just a mistake, I was young.”
The images of that night raced through his mind and he stirred in his sleep. Beads of sweat formed on his forehead. The horse, the anger, the screams. Was it wrong that he was having fun? A small joke could do so much, but how could he know. His mom was dead and it was his fault.

Cole’s eyes shot open. He looked around. He was back in bed. He stood up in bed and rubbed his head. How come his head hurt so much? What just happened? Did he just connect with the dead?

The companions mocked the disgusting looking creature and told her to leave them alone. "How can we trust someone like her? She's so frail, I bet she can't even hunt!"
Elendil looked upset and a bit angry.
What a poor choice. I hope you all know how you are going to get food. I won't be surprised if you starve to death. The companions looked almost shocked by her remark. Elendil quickly ran back into the deep parts of the forest.
Later that night the companions were quietly sleeping, but some of them were restless and just lying on the grounds. They all slept in a small cave heavily hidden in the deep areas of the forests.
Some companions could hear the noises of animals in the forest, but other than that it was very quiet. Seconds later everyone hears an overpowering scream. All of the companions got up and ran towards the noise.
They were all shocked at what they saw...

The third force stole food from certain people and gave their food to other people. Sorry, you were one of them :(

So everyone used, as it stated, -10 worth of food. Then those with 30 & 35 had some stolen, and it was given to those with 45 correct?
Eek. I think we screwed up by not taking Elendil. Oops.

So... Elendil wasn't bad at all and would've been helpful?
When will the next sacrifice be up? (not that I want to kill anyone, I'm just ready to go to the next town. Calliope feels restless in Apple Caves)

123321 I had a question that might've got lost in the shuffle.....it's from post #312
Oh and another question to 'clarify' things for everyone here is the 3rd force able to give supplies to themselves? (it's info for everyone that's why i'm posting it here....)
and 123321 I had made a suggestion about waiting at least 12 hours before making or getting group decisions...is that ok? just cause it seems like most people are operating on american time, and not all of us are in america......and we would like to participate in making suggestions too :) I hope this is ok to say :)

Yes, I'm really sorry. :( Will definately put your suggestion into effect next time. :) Oh and the answer to your question is- yes they can give food to whoever they want, which includes themselves.

Elendil would have been helpful, she was going to give everyone (20+) for each city, which would solve the food problem. There could have been a chance that she could have done something suspicous, but she could have just been there too help too. It's possible that she may come along again, since she is traveling in the same direction as you.
The next sacrifice will be later tonight :)

Yep. All the people that weren't involved with the TF should have (40), the ones that got some stolen should have 30 - 35 and the ones that were given food should have 45.

You can choose from 5 difference cities :beer:
Clo
Diamo
Lindoronar
Victin
Myonador
MagicBeans

Since it seems ridiculous to go backwards, and Myonadar is pretty far off, I think we should chose Diamo.
Are we supposed to be discussing, or voting? LOL

I suggest Diamo, Myonador or Clo.
If we pick Victin or Lindoronar will we have to go back through Apple Caves to go somewhere else?

Just discussing lol, Vote when I post the next sacrifice, which will be around 5 PM Pacific.
If you pick Victin the companions will travel to Lindoronar. For Lindoronar, you can go straight to Clo. So, nope you don't.
MagicBeans

We could do Victin to Lindoronar to Clo, but that seems like a LOT of back and forth to me. I still suggest Diamo, towards Melani, Death & Hinith.

I would think we should go for Lethys, because that's where I have another plotline in store ;)
----------------------
Algernon thought it shouldnt be a problem to get a drink with some of the other companions, he was somewhat lonesome. He looked back at his pets, they'd be fine.
He really could have cared less about the pale little creature, his gut feeling told him she was trouble, regardless of her help. Algernon also noticed Kith was down to his last gold piece. Algernon had hundreds, if not thousands from all the wars he had been in. His age wouldnt be noticeable, but he outlived some of the group by thousands of years. His ancestory was one he kept to himself, and his longevity was a gift and a curse. He wasn't elfish, just wicked talented.
Algernon took a seat in the bar next to Kith and some of the other companions he didnt have the pleasure of meeting. He pulled out a small coin sack, and slid down 5 or 6 to each one of them, this time, a little more secretive. He got a few eyes from them, but Kith seemed very pleased and appreciative.
"So," he said to Kith, "Tell me a little about your life"

Ok then, I want to go to Death cause I was born there and I miss my Mommy. :lol: C'mon Infernal. With all due respect ... is that your serious opinion? We're trying to pick the best place to go to, without wasting food. You can make your storyline work in whatever city we go to.

Kith managed to stumble across to a bar stool; he pulled himself onto it and let his eyes blur a bit. God, that stuffs strong. Who in their right mind..? He waited till the 'alcohol' started to lose its hold a bit. The effects left him almost as quickly as they came, and soon he was sobered again, examining his lone gold coin miserably.
He heard someone sit down on the stool next to him. Turning to see who it was, he noticed it was Algernon, the guy who he discovered Elendil with. Algernon took out a coin sack, and passed a handful to Kith, who stared down at the 6 gleaming coins in his hand with awe. ".. Thanks, Algernon!" he managed, eventually. His eyes drifted over to the poker table for a few seconds, and he felt another silly grin coming on. Don't be stupid! he scolded himself for the thought.
"So, tell me a little about your life" Algernon said. Kith surveyed the man for a moment, taking in a few details, such as the scar across one amber coloured eye.
"Well.." Kith started. It was hard for him to think of anything to say, his life hadn't been exactly thrilling, up until now. "I'm from Lethys. My parents - ah - adoptive parents, they took me in when I was 6 years old. As for anything before that, I can't say I remember it." he looked upwards, trying to remember at least something from his past. But, like all the other times he'd tried, he failed. "Lethys. Stupid, boring hole of a place." Kith snorted. "My father was a jeweller. A successful one, at that. He wanted me to follow in his path." he laughed a little "That's just not for me, though. I wanted to get out and live, see the world, save the day and get some girls while I'm at it. Not spend my time tied down in Lethys, of all places-" he noticed the expression on Algernons face. Was it close to a laugh? Surprise, maybe? "Oh.. you don't come from Lethys too, do you?"

After havin discussed about the creature with Amethyst our attention was drawn to what happened in the camp.
Poor Isolde had been killed! "Oh my good, who's going to be next?!" I whispered.
We both stood there in silence for a few minutes, having our own thoughts. Than I said "Let's leave this place!" And I asked Amethyst "What do you think is going to happen now? What should we do?"
I realized that Durin was looking at us - or just her? Did he want to say something?

Ok, I see. I thought he meant to store information from the contest, which would be against forum rules. If it's just to house the sims2packs, that's different. It's the whole "subforum" thing that's not allowed here...having a separate forum unobtainable to the mods that we'd have to sign up for in order to retrieve/share information regarding this contest. Amethyst bent over the rock, examining it closely. "Aha!" She said to herself. "Jasper. Just what I needed to complete..." Then she smelled it. Actually, him. Durin was standing more than 15 feet away, yet she could smell him as if she was standing next to him. "Drunk." She said. "Ale will do strange things to a person." She thought to herself as she shook her head.
HIC!! "Oops." Was his rather crude remark at this outburst. He then started to teeter over to Amethyst. She tried to contain her temper at the thought of having to speak with him again.
"Hello Durin. I trust you had a pleasant night..."
He continued to stand there, 3 feet from her, with an obviously drunk grin plastered on his face. Amethyst rolled her eyes, and went back to her work. She looked up about 5 minutes later and Durin was gone. "Good riddance," was her thought.
By now the sun was rising, bathing the forest in a warm, summer's glow. The dew on the grass sparkled and twinkled in this half-light, and the birds made themselves busy with the day's work. Amethyst stopped her work briefly to admire the scene.
"So, what do you think about the creature??" Amethyst whirled around, and brandished her pick like a knife. She lowered it when she saw it was only Haydar.
"It's bad news. She... she.. just doesn't feel right, you know??"
"I agree. Something doesn't seem right about her."
Their conversation went on for about 5 minutes, but they had already agreed that the creature, apparently called Elendil, was up to no good. They wandered back to where the creature was talking with Kith, Korinne, and Algernon. They heard the last snippet of the conversation, "...won't be surprised if you starve to death!!!" Elendil then ran off into the forest.
"I suspect that won't be the last we see of her," Haydar remarked.
"I agree. Do you think she's been following us??"
"Possibly, I..."
Their conversation was interrupted by screams eminating from the camp!!
Amethyst and Haydar rushed through the forest to the camp. Isolde was dead. Many of the people were crying. This is when it finally dawned on Amethyst that this was indeed a matter of life and death. She let the tears fall. No more hiding them behind a front.
"Oh my god, who's going to be next?!" Haydar was understandibly nervous, but his words sounded a little over-dramatized.
"I don't know, I wish I did but..." He interrupted, "What do you thinks going to happen now? What should we do?" Haydar was unusually uncomposed for the situation. Amethyst dried up her tears and put her hand on his shoulder.
"We go on. We can't let something like this stand in our way!! The ring must be..."
She paused as she noticed Durin staring at them through the crowd. Was he giong to finish what he started earlier that morning???....

At Arion's assent, Silas leaned forward and leapt nimbly to the ground, landing with elven grace, then lowered himself to the moss next to her. His ears twitched at the wind, now becoming a little cold, but he ignored them. "Are you okay?"
Arion looked at him and said, "I'll be fine... don't worry too much. It was a shock for me because of the way they treated me and the other two girls, Madeline and Calliope." She paused and lifted her right hand slightly, revealing a ring of raw, blood-crusted skin where the rope had been. The sight made him wince, close his eyes, turn away.
"I'm sorry about what happened." True, he did not vote for her, but he also did nothing to stop it - and it made him feel horrible. He could have sworn that he was a better person than that. They spoke until the companions moved into the cave to rest for the night. Silas slept in a tree just outside the cave entrance, as he could not stand caves - he did not trust the things that crawled on the walls.
He awoke to screaming and nearly fell from the branches supporting him. Joining the crowd rushing through the mouth of the cave, his eyes suddenly fell upon Isolde and he felt physically ill at her appearance. They were all rushing to help her, and as her milky eyes seemed to run over them all, she looked at him - looked right at him - before she fell over dead. No one had been able to help her.
Silas stood back, visibly shaken by what he had just seen, eyes wide with horror. Who could have done such a thing?

Madeline awoke to the screams of agony. Now widely awake, she ran to the scene of the crime. There, Isolde was lying, with what looked like engravings on the back of her neck.
Madeline jumped back. What or who, could have done this?? She brought her hands to her mouth and started to breath heavily. If she was the one executed from the other night, would she be like Isolde? The thought frightend Madeline. She slowly walked backwards, just the thought of Isolde slumped on the ground, and within a second Madeline had passed out, fallen to the ground.

I walked into the tavern apprehensively. I hadn't thought this out well enough when I had asked Calliope if she would like a drink. Why had I not considered the crowd that would surely be gathered in the tavern? I was at the back of group that had formed to travel to the tavern, but as soon as I passed through the doorway I was hit with a feeling of suffocation. There were too many people...laughing and drinking...some gambling their money away. Many of the companions were in the tavern as well.
I had come here hoping to help Calliope through the emotions that were surely running through her after her near-death experience, but honestly it didn't look like she needed me. She seemed pretty well put together--angry of course--but ready to move on. She also had many others surrounding her, offering her their support. She probably wouldn't notice if I slipped out and went back to the camp to find a quiet place to sit...
Just as I had decided to leave, my gaze fell upon Vasquez. She looked at me and I didn't pull my stare away from hers. She looked...what was a good description for what I saw on her face? Pain? Sadness? Confusion? Anger? I wasn't sure. She took her eyes off me and returned her attention to the knife she had on the bar. I was just about to turn around and go back out the door I had entered through when something sparkled on the floor beneath Vasquez's chair. I walked slowly towards Vasquez, crouching to pick up the object, and observed that it was a neckace with a gold pendant. It probably belonged to Vasquez. I would have to return it.
I plastered my best smile upon my face, trying hard to look genuine although I knew my smile never looked true. It hadn't looked true since I was a child...before I was ostracized by my friends and family for not being able to harness my magical abilities. Shaking those thoughts from my head, I tapped Vasquez on her shoulder.
"I believe you dropped this."
Vasquez looked at me for a moment, and I couldn't help but wonder what she was thinking. Was she suspicious of me? Did she think I lifted it from her earlier? Did she realize how hard it was for me to already think of her a friend, while knowing all too well that I really didn't know her--or what role she played on this journey?

Kheelan too had approached Arion whom was already been aided by Silas, Kheelan smiled at her and gave her a blanket and wrapped around her shaking body "I know that I can't soothe you on this words, once we make it to the next city, its one day longer that we have lived, I can't guarantee everything will be alright although I would love it to be" Arion nodded her head in agreement as Kheelan rubbed her shoulders. "What's your chosen city?" Arion asked wanting to change the subject" "I've always wanted to explore Lindoronar or Victin as far as I am concerned with the map Victin looks the closest to us"

I love bars... Giving her money to the bartender, she said, "Surprise me." And what a pleasant surprise it was... As cold as she can be, a drink always loosens her up.
What a good time I'm having... all my friends are here! Kith is here... and Algernon is here... Orehael was here.... where'd he go? I bet he'll be back later... he wants to spend time around me. They are here too... those two that wanted me dead. Why would they do that? I can't believe they wouldn't love me... like everyone else... like Kith loves to play cards with me!
"Kith! Ki-ith! It's time for us to play now," she called. Calliope walked over to a table where one man sat. She whispered loudly to him, "Hey, go sit at that table... over there. I neeed this one." Without waiting for him to get up, she sat down and started dealing cards.
(hopefully, everyone gets it by now... but italics are Calliope's thoughts)

I made it so I can put my frequently used characters up in there, so I just copy and paste em instead of searching around. Im just throwing it out there if anyone wants to do the same. I know some people use the same character more than once.
Whatever then XD
But yes, you can house your sim packages there for download rather than the sims contest sharing thread. I still ask for you to give credit, but atleast mention it isnt your work. IF you cant find something, dont fret, Ill take the blame :)

Im heading home now, but anyone can use Algernon to buy a drink or gamble with :)

Ahh tis' okay! A bit sad, but it's alright. I really loved this contest! Can't wait for the next cycle.
Sorry chestnut! :( I'm glad you liked it while you were still in it though.
EDIT: Question: (This sounds so bad...) Are we doing more sacrifices for tomorrow, or starting tomorrow?
I'm not too sure if I completely understand the question. I think for tomorrow lol

Anyone want me to post the next sacrifice or should I wait a little longer? It's all typed up.

As far as where we should go next, I think we should choose Clo. It's surrounded by a lot of other places and seems like a good start to make a clockwise-type search of the map. Hope that made sense!

Sacrifice Day II
http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/3936/applecavesrt9.jpg
Unfortunately, Apple Caves is not the city that contains the Hidden Palace (as you know). Apple caves is not really a city though, but more of a region between cities. Humans and other races don't live in this area, mostly just creatures. The companions are outraged since they have been searching all day and night and have found nothing. It is clear that someone is lying. Someone is purposely leading the companions in the wrong direction, but who?
After watching Isolde die, many of the companions were in a deep depression. The markings on her neck, the blood flooding out of her mouth, her ghostly eyes, and the foam coming out of her mouth left an image in everyones minds. Why did she die this way? Who would do such a thing? It must've been one of the 29 people left.
Instructions
Everyone post in this thread who they want to sacrifice a.k.a. who they think is a traitor, and the city you want to travel to (which one you think contains the Hidden Palace). Also, RP with your post.

Orehael stood before me - my pendant in his hand. Out of habit, my hand shot up to my neck, finding nothing but my own skin. How did he end up with it anyway? Had I dropped it, or ... or had he taken it? Surely he wasn't returning something he had stolen but...I can't trust anyone here. I have to remember that.
I held my hand out before me as Orehael slowly loosened his grip, letting the pendant and chain fall into my open palm. As his hand retreated, his fingers brushed against mine. The jolt of excitement that shot through me caught me off guard, and I found myself getting pulled into his gaze again...that is, until Miles spoke up.
"What the...". He was sitting in his seat, watching the scene between Orehael and myself.
I snatched my hand away from the light touch of Orehael's fingers, and turned to grab my belongings.
"I...Miles it was very good to meet you". I pushed my tankard in his direction, letting him know that the rest of my ale was his to drink if he so chose to.
He was still watching me. I could feel his eyes following me out of the pub. As I reached the door, I realized that Orehael wasn't the only one looking at me. Calliope was giving me quite the evil look - one that said I had not been, nor probably wouldn't ever be - forgiven for voting to sacrifice her. My knife in my hand, I flipped it over and shoved it back into it's holster as my answer to her came through loud and clear from my own eyes. I still don't trust you. What I couldn't tell her in my eyes was that it wasn't just her. I didn't trust anyone.
"Vasquez..." Orehael's voice echoed as I ran from the pub back to the camp. Once back at camp, I discovered the death of Isolde. The sight was gruesome and horrifying. This was no simple murder...it was a message. While everyone else retreated in horror or cried in the distance, I got to work. It didn't take me long to dig a hole large enough for her to fit. I lowered myself onto one knee beside her, closed her cold eyes with my hand, then crossed her arms over her chest. A few minutes later, I was placing the last of the dirt over Isolde's body. Using the back of my hand, I wiped the traveling bead of sweat from my brow, then headed for the stream to wash up.
The last thing I remembered was stretching out on the soft ground by the stream. I must have fallen asleep, because suddenly there were voices by the stream - voices of other companions. They were discussing where we were headed next, and who they believed the traitor and murderer to be. So we're going to try to kill another one are we? This is sheer insanity...to condemn someone to death simply by the souls we claim to see residing in their eyes.
I dragged myself over to the firepit, ready to cast my vote for both the sacrifice and the next city to travel to. As I walked, I could feel his eyes upon me - watching me as I moved.
I took a deep breath, and cast my vote.

Once Madeline awoke it was dark and people were either huddled or by themselves. She could hear other people whispering names and where they should go next. Madeline knew it was that time again.
It was bad enough voting for someone to be executed the first time, the 2nd time was murder. Madeline knew how it felt to be close to death and she didn't want to put anyone in that position, but she had no choice.
She hated this...."Kheelan..." she said as a single tear rolled down her cheek.

A loud scream woke me from my short sleep that had included several nightmares. I heard a din among some of the other companions and hesitantly went to see what had happened now. My hands flew to my mouth in horror as I beheld Isolde lying dead upon the ground. No. More than dead. She looked like she had been tortured and mutilated. Tears started to run down my cheeks. No one should have to die like this, far away from home, from family, from friends. I watched as someone, Vasquez I believe, buried her. After she went to wash up, I walked over to the freshly dug grave. I placed a single white rose on top of it then said "May the gods speed you on your way home." After that, all there was to do was to wait, and listen to the other companions. Some said it was Elendil who killed Isolde as punishment for hot allowing her to join us. Others said it had to be one of our group. After all, were there not traitors among us? Already there was talk of a different city, and another sacrifice. Again was there mistrust and doubt. I drew my knees up and rested my chin on them. How was I going to make a decision that could cost an innocent person ther lives?
I heard people already giving their votes, but held off. I was amazed to hear Algernon offer himself up as sacrifice. I wondered if it had anything to do with the vial I had seen him drinking the night before. I had not told anyone of what I had witnessed. Another wave of nausea hit me. I figured it was just a reaction to the horror of Isolde's death, but a small nagging fear took root in my mind. I refused to think of it though, instead concentrating on my upcoming vote.

Layre had fallen asleep in the meadow and when she awoke, she slowly made her way back to where the group was. The noise, smell, and dirt from that many people repulsed her. She was used to being on her own in the open air, and it was a shock to the system to be around 29 others. When Layre arrived at the camp she saw it was in an uproar, Isolde had been murdered. Layre ran over to make sure that there was nothing that could be done to save her, but it was too late. If only I had stayed in the camp last night, then perhaps there would have been enough time! I probably could have save her! Although Layre hadn't known Isolde, it was her life to save things that were hurt and the few times when they didn't get better, Layre's heart broke.
Layre walked a short distance away, and sat down on the cold hard ground, wrapping her arms around her knees and burying her head into her arms. I hate it here. People are being killed and we are being asked to kill (sacrifice) others all in the name of this ring. This evil ring!
After some time had passed, Layre began to return to the physical world and started noticing the sounds around her. When she heard that there was to be another sacrifice, she gasped. She lifted her head and started looking at the others. There's no way to know who's a traitor at this point! I can't willing sacrifice an innocent! I just want to get out of this horrible place, Myonador is a nice big place maybe things would be better there.
I don't want to pick someone to die! But I must.....I pick Dimple. Forgive me! Layre was upset that she was made to choose, and she hoped with all her might that either this person wouldn't die, or this person was a traitor.

I had never seen someone die before! Therefore I was really shocked and Amethyst, although nervous herself, tried to calm me down. She also noticed that Durin was watching her and that seemed to cause strange feelings. "What had happened between the two of them?!" I asked myself.
I tried to think of something else. We had choose where to go next! "I think Clo would be a good choice ... Seems like lots of smaller cities surround this place ..." I said. "This would also bring us close to your hometown, right?!" Amethyst was just about to answer but then ...

Silas slept with nightmares that night, legs curled near his chin and his mouth moving feverishly in fear. He awoke several times to hear accusations again, to hear people shouting names and places they should go. Every time he awoke, he hastily tried to fall back to sleep, tried to put it off as long as possible, thinking that if he had more time to think on it, the decision would be made easier and the guilt would leave him. When he finally awoke in the morning, though, he realized that he could not run from the decision for long - he had to offer someone as a traitor. But who could be a traitor? The best actor? The most ruthless? He had suspicious feelings about Algernon, but he did not seem to be a traitor. Simply a man with ulterior motives.
Silas had heard the names from last night repeated again - Madeline, Calliope, Arion. The poor girls, to hear their names twice! Perhaps he was too nice - he would have nothing to do with their accusations again. He did not want to give them any more grief. But then, who could he be sure he was able to trust? In his tree, he curled into a fetal position and thought on it. The decision was so hard. Eventually, though, he knew he had to decide, and eventually whispered a name.
"Kheelan. We should go to.... Clo."
He shuddered and fell silent in his tree's nook, hoping that his guesses had been right.

I watched as Vasquez hurried past me, out of the tavern, and probably back to camp. I sighed slightly and looked at the man (Miles) who had been sitting next to her, offering a weary smile and slight shrug to his accusatory eyes. I turned away from the bar and was about to leave the tavern as well, hoping to find Vasquez and assure her that I was no thief. That must be what caused her to flee so suddenly--she doesn't trust me. As I was about to leave, however, I remembered Calliope. I couldn't just leave without so much as a word to her.
Calliope sat at a table playing cards with Kith. I walked to her and placed my hand lightly on her shoulder before lowering my face near her ear. "Pardon me, my lady, but I'm afraid I must leave. I offer you my apologies." With that I left the crowded tavern and headed toward camp.
When I reached camp, the atmosphere was thick with fear, anger, sadness, and many more emotions. I scanned the crowds for Vasquez, and found her a small distance from the crowd, lowering the body of Isolde into a hole, and covering the poor woman with dirt. It seemed the woman had been murdered. I watched the scene before me as Vasquez headed to the stream to wash the grime from her body. I wanted to approach her, but I dared not. Surely she would not want to see me at this time.
I wandered to the edge of the group and sat once more in the shade of a tree. I heard the whispers of the people near me, and was surprised not to hear a single mention of Isolde's death. Instead they were discussing where to travel to next...and who should be killed as a traitor.

RP: Myrra tossed and turned in her sleep. The hard cave ground wasnt really that comfy, true be told. She was talking with a friend of needing a new bed when her dreams were interupted by a high-pitched scream. She sat up drowsily, confused due to her tired state as everyone else around her all awoke as well and questions instantly started erupted from her fellow companions as everyone stood up and began running to the source of the sound.
Myrra stopped, a loud scream escaped her thought as she saw Isolde lying on the ground. Her hand flew up to her mouth, and then covered her eyes she she turned slightly away.
"Oh my god" Tears started sliding down her cheeks. The image of Isolde was burned into her mind.
She sat down, shaking, not believing what just happened.
The next morning, Myrra was still in shock. She never though it was possible for anyone to die in such a gruesome way. The thought made her shudder.
She wandered to a nearby tree and slid down the the ground, deep in thought. Instead she thought of where to go next.
For her, what city to travel to was very easy, she voted Clo, where she grew up. Of coarse there was no time for a family reunion, there were much more important matters at hand. But she still couldnt resist returning to where she had been raised.
The image of Isolde was still refusing to leave her mind. Even through all her confusion, she managed to sort out one question, which she unknowingly asked outloud.

Dex smiled at Nelinde. "I wish you luck in finding your father, if its what you want." He said. "I'm not bothering to look for mine. he seemed not to care for me or my mother so why should I care for him?" His eyes passed over the many people in their group. He sighed, sadly at fact that Isolde was missing, he'd never really gotten a chance to know her well. Nelinde seemed distracted so Dex got up and walked into the trees, hoping to escape the loud burble of mixed voice rising from their camp. Lying down on the grass he stared absently at the sky. Everything was so different from the sounds and smells of the city he was use to. No street vendors, calling out their wares or entertainers dancing and singing, surrounded by crowds of people cheering and throwing coins. "I haven't been hired to draw anything for weeks." he mumbled. *Crack!* Something or someone was moving in the woods behind him. Dex eased slowly up and turned his head around. "Who's there?" He called.

RP: Durin woke up thoroughly bruised, with a throbbing head, and a stinging arm. He sat up quickly, and then groaned loudly as the morning's light hit his eyes. He shut them and quickly lay back down, but the movement only aggravated his head more. Oh, good god... He had no idea how he had managed to make it back to the cave where the others were sleeping. He realized that he in fact had no idea what he had done last night besides drinking and wandering until dawn. Though, he pondered, thinking hard, he felt as though he had run into... Someone. Oh right. Amethyst. Uh oh. The events of the night before (or had it been that morning?) were filtering through his memory. Cautiously, he sat back up, and squinted around the cave. It was completely empty.
An hour later, Durin was dressed and slowly making his way over to the large gathering near a clump of trees. He squinted at the companions, wishing he knew what was going on. Probably missed some sort of meeting... he mused, trying to think over the throbbing headache. He noticed Amethyst, and wiggled his eyebrows at her. That foxy woman had flirted with him all morning, and only his leaving to crash had stopped her from seducing him. Wait, she wasn't as foxy as he had remembered her to be... As Durin tried to recall this morning's conversation, he swaggered over to where everyone else was standing. Probably arguing about what to eat, he thought ruefully. He had still not figured out what was up with his food portions. Whatever, I'm sure they can manage to find some food themselves. Anyway, as long as I'm doing well, everything's just fin-
Oh no. Oh, Havens...
Durin stumbled as he stepped back, trying not to be sick. Who would do tha- Swerving mid-thought, he doubled over, his knees falling hard on the dry sticks and damp grass underneath...
He stood up shakily a moment later, wiping his mouth weakly on his sleeve. And his eyes... Normally he would be embarrassed, but who wasn't crying?
He scanned the crowd, wondering how they were reacting. Vasquez, he saw, was starting to dig a grave, the hard work clearing her mind. Lyddia was crying freely, and seemed to have a white rose in her hand. Amethyst was crying as well, tears streaming down her face, and Haydar was clearly frightened, nervously chattering to Amethyst. Durin felt very heavy. Gazing in no particular direction, he stood stock still for a while, the image of the bloodied girl quivering in his mind's eye. The grounds were almost becoming warm with sunlight, mocking the events of the morning. This journey is so dangerous. Are you really up for this, Durin? he questioned himself. He gave a startled jerk as he realized he was staring directly at Amethyst, who was giving him a hard stare right back. Liking his lips, he made a slip second decision, and headed over to where Amethyst and Haydar were standing. He gave a quick and nervous nod to Haydar, and smiled nervously at him once he hd raised his head. "Um, good morning," he said huskily. He gave another slight jump when he realized for the first time that morning that his throat was very sore. He must have had quite an adventurous night. He turned to Amethyst and gave another small nod. "Good morning," he said again, his voice strained. He sought to sound mature and thouroughly not hungover, but to his annoyance he found heat rising to his neck, and his cheeks flushing.

Durin came over to us and said good moring. It was obvious that he hadn't had enough sleep but too much alcohol. Also he seemed depressed because of what happend to poor Isolde.
He looked as if he needed somebody to talk to so I decided to be nice. Maybe he isn't as bad as my first impression was?!
"Here, take these herbs, they will make you feel better." He didn't take them immediately and seemed to think about whether he could trust me or not but the he smiled mildly and thanked me.
"Ok, you two, I think I have to spend some time alone, meditating. I hope to see you later!" I said to Durin and Amethyst.
I greeted and then went to the forest.
After walking a little I found a small clearing and sat down.
Breath deep.
For some time I managed to think of nothing. But then my thoughts came back to the adventure. Would we manage to find the palace? I truly hope so, our mission is so important! I have already decided for myself that I would like to go to Clo ... But we also had to sacrifice someone ... Who could be a traitor? I still didn't know my companions very well ... I know that Korinne was one of the people who decided not to let Elendil travel with us ... And I still think she could have been helpful! Apart from this vote I hadn't heard or seen very much of her ... Could be suspiciuos. Or she is just intoverted ... However, I cannot know it so I think I will vote for her. I really hope she is not an innocent!
I tried to find peace of mind again but I couldn't.
So I decided to go for a walk, maybe I'd find some useful herbs ...

Sacrifice: Algernon
Travel to: Diamo
I tried to avoid the eyes that fell on me as I yelled out my vote, especially those coming from underneath the large shade tree. Algernons vote for himself was suspicious to me. Was he saying that he is a traitor? Perhaps a trick to throw us off of his scent?
My hands ached from all the digging I had done not long before, and now we were voting for who would fill the next grave? I reached down and lifted a small rock from the ground then held it firmly in my hand, hoping the coolness of the rock would ease the discomfort. As the rock did it's job, I looked at all the people I was with. Such an odd group we made up. To think that one of us could have...would have...
"Why must we kill someone to discover if they are a traitor or not?" I said to myself, but loudly enough that I was certain others could hear. "Surely there is another way." My thoughts went back to Isolde and the look in her eyes as I closed them for the last time.
I threw the rock back onto the ground and, with my hand resting on my holster, I stormed off for the woods. I was so lost in my thoughts, I hadn't realized that I was headed directly for Orehael, who had jumped to his feet when I had first voiced my objections. My heart was pounding as I came to a stop in front of him, looking him dead in the eye. He didn't have to say anything, for his eyes spoke volumes.
"I don't even know you Orehael". I realized that the comment confused some of the people that were watching me, but he understood me completely. As I expected, he shifted his eyes away from me. Part of me wanted to ask him why he was in so much pain, but I knew better than to get too close to anyone here. I knew I could find solace in the woods...where I could lay still and listen to nothing but the wind. As I moved through the woods, I saw Dex laying on in a grassy area. At the sound of my foot stepping on and breaking a branch, he sat up and yelled out, "Who's there?". I picked up my pace, and started running to find another clearing. I had nothing against Dex, I had only seen him in passing, but I was in no mood for pleasantries.
I continued to run until my legs started burning. As I stood in the woods, holding onto my burning thighs and gasping for breath, I realized that I had gone deeper into the woods than I had intended. I searched for a unique mark on the trees - anything that would help me get my bearings, but found nothing.
It was then that I saw Saxton. He was walking towards me very slowly. "Mi'lady".
"Saxton?" I squinted my eyes, trying to see him in more detail, but there was something about him that seemed...different.
"Mi'lady. Are you lost?" Orehael took a step closer, obviously unsure whether he should approach me or not.
My pride kicked in as I realized who I was really seeing. "No. I'm not lost. I'm...I'm just...looking for uhhh..." My eyes fell upon a stray stick. "Something to carve." I reached down and grabbed the stick, then pulled my knife out and started peeling the bark off.
When Orehael took a step closer, I dropped the stick, but held my knife firm.

RP: Nelinde felt so uncomfortable and out-of-place. There was so much going on around her, and she felt invisible to her companions, which she couldn't decide if it was a good thing or not. She wished and hoped for someone to notice her. As she withdrew into herself even more, she began to think of whom to sacrifice next. She took Algernon's vote for himself to be a sign of weakness. "I don't even know you Orehael." Those words stung me deeper than any words had stung since I had left my home all those years ago. I didn't know why her words had such an effect--would those words from any of these companions have hurt me so, or was it only because they came from her? She was right though. She didn't know me, and I didn't know her. For all she knew it was I that had killed Isolde. For all that I knew it had been her--the scene of her burying the poor woman only an act to convince the rest of her innocence. But would she do such a thing? Was Vasquez capable of such deceit? My heart ached with a resounding answer of no, but my mind was not as easily convinced.
I watched Vasquez as she ran into the forest, obviously compelled by emotions and probably at a loss for logic. She could get lost...she could run in to whoever had taken the life of Isolde. Wait, wasn't I just saying that person could be her? What did I believe...truly? Muttering curses under my breath, I headed into the forest as well, hoping to find Vasquez and escort her back to the safety of camp. Yes, there was some safety in numbers. Perhaps not safety from a sacrifice, but certainly safety from the traitors. They would not strike while in a crowd where their identities would become known to all.
I found Vasquez in a small clearing, seemingly searching the trees for some sign to aid her return back to camp. "Mi'lady," I called, and her answer was a name of someone I knew nothing of. She stood still, watching me with a look in her eye that no woman had ever directed towards me. What was that look? Admiration? Intrigue? Love? Surely she would be disappointed to realize it was only me, and not the person whose name she had called.
I took a step closer, tentatively, not sure what her reaction would be when she realized her error. "Mi'lady. Are you lost?"
When I had stepped closer she had realized it was only me who approached, and I saw the disappointment in her eyes. She began searching the ground...for something. She said a stick to carve, but I thought she was merely making an excuse for having wandered so far, not wanting to admit that she had gotten lost, not only in her emotions, but in the woods as well. I stepped closer to her, wanting so badly to comfort her. She obviously held so much pain, hidden behind her tough exterior. She needed a friend. She needed me. My approaching proximity, however, was not something Vasquez seemed happy about. She dropped the stick she had held up as her excuse, but I noticed the knife she gripped in her opposite hand.
I stopped my movement towards her and held up my hands to show her I meant no harm. I couldn't help the small frown from forming on my lips, nor the pained look I'm sure appeared in my eyes. "My apologies. I only meant to help. I see though that you do not need help from the likes of me. I shall make my way back to camp. They are still awaiting my vote for the sacrifice, though I know not if I will able to bring myself to offer up another whom I scarcely know. If you'd like to join me, I would be happy for the company..." With that I turned my back and began walking slowly back to camp. I was in no hurry to rejoin those who had gathered to discuss the next sacrifice.

OOC: Orehael is pretty open to being used in other people's RPs, so there's no worries there Beans. It's always fun to scramble to think of how to explain actions he takes that others write in...and this goes for everyone and anyone.

All around me names were still being called out. I saw Algernon scowl as several people named him to sacrifice. A cold look settled on his face. He stepped forward, and several people moved away from him.
An unpleasant smile crossed his lips. "I name Mell Coler as traitor," he spat out then turned and walked away without another word. I made a quick decision and followed after him. I didn't know whether now was a good time to approach him, but I needed an answer from him. I didn't think he was a traitor, as I didn't believe a traitor would offer his own life.
"Algernon," I said and waited until he looked at me. His look was still cold and I thanked the gods that I hadn't been the recipient of that scathing coldness. Taking a breath I plunged ahead.
"I think it was very noble of you to try to sacrifice yourself to save others. I want to ask a question of you. Can you die, or will that liquid I saw you drink save you from death?" I've often heard people say that silence is deafening, but until that moment I had no idea what that really meant. The silence seemd to stretch on forever, until I could now longer bear it.
"Please answer me," I implored him.

Moira went to Isolde Romano's grave and laid some wild flowers over the mound of dirt. "I'm so very sorry for what happened to you, even though it wasn't my fault. I never knew that this is what would happen to someone who was sacrificed. I would rather sacrifice myself than to be responsible for killing someone."
Moira wandered off into the forest and found that she was lost. She started to panic, and ran aimlessly through the woods until she came across a handmade bench. She sat down to rest and regain her energy. Then she saw a tree with very bright and vivid colored fruit on it. She couldn't stop looking at it, it look so delicious. It looked like a mix between a peach and an apple. She grabbed one, and was about to bite into it when someone knocked it out of her hand. She turned around and saw that it was Silas LaCriox. "Don't you know we aren’t supposed to eat anything you find in the forest, that fruit could have been poisonous!" He said. "Oh, my, how foolish of me! Thank you for stopping me." Moira replied. "What are you doing way out here, though?" Moira asked. "Oh, it was getting pretty tired of just sitting, and listening to everyone argue, I needed to get up and walk around a bit." said Silas. "Do you mind if I follow you back to the rest area, I seem to have made a wrong turn somewhere." Moira asked Silas. "Sure." Silas replied.

It was a shock to see what happened to Isolde. Linily had never before seen death (except for natural causes). She stayed afar off not to cause to much extra commotion. People were breaking from the death scene and comforting each other. She wasn't quite sure what to do.
After things had settled down, Linily had heard that Algernon had submitted his name for sacrifice. She thought to herself - why did you do that. I know I only see you from a distance but, I do not want your company to go away. It would be a great sadness if I could not travel with you anymore. -
Algernon changed his vote! Thought - Thank goodness. -
Linily looked around to try and hear what people were talking about. She could here a little of what Algernon and Lynnia were saying and heard Mel Coler. She decided that she is going to vote for him.
All Linily could do now was look at the map even harder and bury herself in her studies. Where shall we go next....

Ya know, I sacrifice myself, and get accused for being a traitor, other people sacrifice themselves, and nothing happens... conspiracy FTW?

Algernon looked back at Lynnia, and put his head down.
"No, I can perfectly die...I just can't age," he eased out.
Algernon had lived for thousands of years, even he didnt know his age. He learned the art of alchemy, and soon discovered Elixirs. Some healed his wounds, some made him stronger, and one made him live eternally. He hadn't chosen to live eternally, but if he didnt continue to drink the Elixir, he would perish into dust, and it would be beyond any pain imagineable.
"I'm sorry, but Im not to comfortable telling you all this." he said after telling Lyn all the details. "I like to keep to myself and my training."
Algernon fiddled around with a gold coin. He had this gold from all lands of Middle Earth, but he found no use for it. He loved adventuring, he loved wars, he loved to live.
"I see," she replied.
He took out the bottle of shining black liquid and dumped it on his hands, but it didnt settle, instead it floated above it. He spun his hands in circles, the liquid formed a ball. Then, he murmered a chant, and it glew a bright red. He kept in meditation, and soon, rocks rolled in a circle around him. He seemed to be controlling nature, the leaves, twigs, and sticks gathered at his feet. Then, he stepped out, and finished the enchantment.
The glowing red liquid turned to fire, and spun and wove around him like a scarf. It encirlced him, then rested on the firepit. Immediately, it ignited into a glorious blaze.
Lynnia was speechless...
"Please, don't mention this to many people, Gaiac powers are not to be tampered." he said, "Besides, I think conversations are best done next to a fire, not in a shadow."

Linily was sitting a bit from the main circle tinkering with some of her gadgets when a light hit one of her pieces of glass. It had a strong reflection of a glowing red and bounced off the glass to shine right in her eye. It was annoying her so much she had to see what was going on. As she walked toward the light she her what sounded like whispering so she went in quietly so no one would hear.
Algernon was doing some sort of magic and Lynnia was watching by his side. Linily peaked out form behind a tree with eyes WIDE open and all she could do was just stare. She said to herself "my father never let me touch this kind of stuff. WOW it is sooooo amazing. I would love to learn this. Boy my life was so sheltered."
Linily started to back up when twigs, leaves, and other things started moving. She was getting a little scared to what was happening. After the big blaze of glory had happened they started to walk away and Linily started backing up when she tripped over a root that was sticking out of the ground and gave a scream while falling backwards. Algernon and Lynnia heard the scream and turned around to see who was there.....

"If you'd like to join me, I would be happy for the company..."
I watched as Orehael slowly retreated, his head slightly lowered. I released the grip on my knife and slowly slid it back into it's holster. Perhaps I was too abrupt with him. Perhaps...
Whether or not I could trust him was not the biggest issue at hand. I was lost, whether my pride would admit it or not, and Orehael was my only way back to the camp. I kept my pace equal with his, keeping a safe distance...just in case. Off in the distance, I was certain that I saw a red glow eminating from the woods. We both stopped suddenly, my hand mindlessly shooting to my holster. Orehael took a step towards me, but kept his eyes on the woods. Was he...protecting me? The realization that I could be in the woods with the traitor that killed Isolde hadn't escaped me.
"We'd better hurry back to camp" he said, his hand touching the middle of my back.
"Yes" I said "We'd better hurry."
It didn't take us long to reach camp. As I stepped out from the treeline, I was surprised to see that the camp remained much the same. There were some small groups of people, still discussing who to sacrifice and where to go next. There were also people sitting by themselves, either too scared to approach anyone or trying to fade into the background.
I turned to the man next to me, knowing I needed to say at least this one thing to him. "Orehael I..."
For the first time, I saw what might be interpreted as a sincere grin on his face. "The pleasure was mine Vasquez".
The voices in the group caught my attention. People were voting for themselves. There seemed to be more and more with each handful of votes. Could it be happening? Could they really be finding another way?

bored...yeah
Myrra had needed some time alone. She broke off from the rest of the companions, where everyone was quietly mumbling among eachother, and wandered into the woods, looking for some alone time. It was stupid, she knew, Isolde had been killed as she was alone. She was definatly better off among everyone else.
She wasnt sure how far away she had gone. Eventually she came across a little circle of trees with a large pile of rocks inside it. Myrra walked inside and sat down next to the pile, picking up a rock as she did so. She rolled it around in her hands, deep in thought.
About ten minutes passed, and she was startled out of her daze by footsteps nearby. She started panicing, and immediatly regretting the decision to go off alone. Whoever this was, were they about to kill her?
Myrra inched out of view as quietly as she could, and peered out to see who it was. Her nerves settled somewhat. It was just Vasquez walking through with someone who she had forgotten the name. He seemed to just be helping her for she was lost.
Myrra watched as they slowly vanished before she dared move again. She looked at the rock in her hand. Without thinking, she chucked it as hard as she could at a nearby tree, leaving a big dent as she did so. She settled down more, getting comfortable, and soon she fell asleep right there on the ground.

I watched speechless as Algernon demonstrated his powers, his magic. After the fire was lit he just stood there looking at me. I bowed to him slightly. "You are indeed a gifted master Algernon. Thank you for that display." He nodded. "As for telling anyone, I give you my word that if anyone does find out, it will not be through me. Trust me, I can understand the need for secrecy." I smiled bitterly as I said the last and lowered my head. I missed the slight arching of his eyebrow and the knowing look on his face. I looked back up at him again. "At first I envied you for I thought you were so free, but in your own way you are as much a slave to a higher power as I am. Neither free, but hoping, wishing, yearning for it to be." I placed my hand lightly on his arm. "My master always tells me that I am too naive, and perhaps it is so for I've see naught of the world but my own little part of it. He says I should learn to listen to my mind and not my heart, but I find my heart is often the wiser of the two."
"And," he prompted, perhaps sensing I was not done.
"My heart tells me to trust you Algernon," and then impulsively, I reached up and touched the scar on his face. "It would pain me to see you sacrificed." He looked at me, shocked, and I quickly lowered my hand, unnerved by my own boldness. With a muttered, "I'm sorry," I turned to leave. I was positive my face glowed red, and not from the fire. I heard him start to come after me. We both stopped upon hearing a scream. We turned and ran back towards the scream. Laying on her back on the ground was Linily.
"I was out for a walk, and I tripped on a root," she explained breathlessly. Algernon went to help her up and I used the opportunity to slip away. I went and sat alone under a tree mentally berating myself. What are you doing? You are acting like a giddy chit. Keep this up and you will be dead. You should be thinking about your upcoming vote and what city to try next. And what of Alaranzo? What would he think of this, especially now. "Maybe I just don't care anymore," I whispered quietly.

All three walked over to the fire, Algernon pulled out some meat he had hunted, and put it on a panlike dish. He gathered a few vegetables and threw it into the mix.
"Everyone hungry?" he asked, while making the stew. He glared at Lynnia and wondered if she had a possible attraction to him. Linily was too preoccupied with the magic fire to notice him staring at the two.

Vasquez caught up with me nearly as soon as I had turned from her. I was thankful she had decided to join me on the walk back to camp, for I was uneasy leaving her in the woods alone. I had seen no other option after witnessing her cold welcome to me when I had approached her in the clearing. Now I could feel her warmth beside me, a warmth that seemed to encompass me, and for the first time in years I felt something akin to happiness.
We walked in silence, neither sure what to say to the other. I wanted to talk to her, to tell her everything. I wanted her to confide in me as well, but I knew neither of those things would ever happen...at least not on a journey such as this. That thought emanated sadness in my mind, for I was well aware that either of us could die at any time in this journey. It wasn't safe. There were sacrifices, murders by the traitors, and the ever-present danger of starvation if our food supplies ran low. My happy mood was slowly changing to one of sadness and self-despair, when I saw a red glow emanating from the woods. At that moment I thought of only one thing--protecting the woman that stood by my side. I stepped closer to Vasquez, examining the woods before me, attempting to see the source of the strange glow.
"We'd better hurry back to camp," I said, placing my hand on the middle of her back, attempting to both reassure her and urge her forward.
"Yes," she said, "We'd better hurry."
As we hurried towards camp, I kept my gaze in the direction of the eerie glow, ensuring that we were not being persued. It was strange, these feelings that ran through me at that moment. I felt protective of Vasquez, the adrenaline in my blood flowing freely and quickly, as to give me both the courage and strength to fight any opposing foe and ensure at least her safety, if not my own. Soon we were back at camp, the glow having faded from my sight. When we stepped out from the treeline, I glanced around the camp, quickly taking stock of who I could see and who I couldn't. I did not know all of the names of my companions, but many were there. It was obvious, though, that many were also missing--perhaps in town, or in the forest.
Vasquez turned to me and I was unable to read whatever emotion laid behind her eyes. "Orehael, I..."
I didn't know what she was going to say, but I knew whatever it was, it was difficult for her to say. I wondered if she felt about me as I did about her. The mere possibility sent a smile upon my face, the first smile I hadn't forced in longer than even I could remember. "The pleasure was mine, Vasquez."
Both of our attentions turned back towards the group, as votes were called out. Some voted for themselves, rather than mistakenly vote for someone innocent. At first it seemed almost noble, but in the end their willingness to sacrifice themselves would serve no one. If those who offered themselves were innocents we would lose a companion that was worth something, and the hold the traitors had over us would grow. Perhaps those offering themselves were the traitors, hoping to fool us with their acting. The truth was unknown...it would remain unknown. All I knew was that I would not vote to sacrifice myself.
My eyes scanned the group, hoping to find some sign, some gesture that would tell me who was a traitor among us. I needed to make a vote, but I needed to be confident in my vote. I sighed as I realized that none of those gathered here looked to be traitors. Perhaps the traitors were among the missing companions? I continued to scan the faces though, trying to remember anything I had overheard or seen in the past that would help me in my decision. It was then that I noticed a fair-haired woman, sitting amongst the shadows, doing a wonderful job of blending into the background. I almost laughed as I thought how similar she seemed to myself--at least the person I was when not around Vasquez. I knew all too well the feeling of being an outcast, and the signs that one who feels as such gives.
I turned to Vasquez, who still stood near my side. I bowed to her, "Pardon me, Vasquez. I shall take my leave of you..." I looked up at her, my upper body still bent towards the ground and a true smile playing on my lips, "...for now."
With that, I turned from Vasquez and strode toward the fair-haired woman I had seen earlier. As I approached her, her eyes widened in surprise, and I noticed that they were a beautiful emerald green color. I forced a smile as I approached her, hoping that my nervousness didn't come across. It wasn't often that I approached others...and I truly didn't know what had come over me to make me do so now.
"Good day, mi'lady," I said. "I do not think we've been introduced. I am Orehael. Would you mind if I sit with you a while?"
The girl was silent, still looking at me surprised. I couldn't help but chuckle a little as I took a seat beside her on the grass. "It's hard isn't it? To be among so many strangers and not know who to trust? I know how you feel, though I have always felt like a stranger...even in my own home. So maybe it is easier for me than you. I have come to learn over the past couple of days, however, that life is easier to endure if you have someone you can at least talk to on occassion. So, if I may ask your name, and where you come from?"
That last part is directed towards Nelinde.

Feel free to use Nelinde, too. She's shy and doesn't have a lot of people-skills, so she may come off as being stand-offish, but really she's friendly and funny when she warms up to people.
I suppose Ill add that anyone can use Myrra if they want. Shes a really caring person, and shes normally very warm and friendly, very talkative and happyish, unless shes mad, she has a temper and can really blow up if pissed enough, She has a tendensy to be very sarcastic on occasion.

After our somewhat quiet meal, I excused myself and went to bed. When I awoke the next morning and remembered my actions the previous night, I blushed. Had I really fawned all over Algernon like that? No wonder he'd looked oddly at me. Great something else I'd have to apologize for later on. I sighed and really wished that nobility, or at the very least perceived nobility, did not bring out the romantic in me. I put that thought in the back of my mind and instead thought of my vote. I looked around the group. Who deserved to live? Who deserved to die? I was not a god who knew another's mind and could judge. All I could do was guess and either hope I was right, or hope I was wrong. I waited as long as I could, until finally I was one of the few people who had not yet cast a vote. The city was somewhat easy. Diamo. The sacrificial vote was harder. Much much harder. I looked around my fellow travelers. None acted suspicious, none called attention to themselves, or their agendas. I still had no idea who was a traitor, or who was an innocent. I was still uncertain, but people were looking at me expectantly, and with more than a little impatience. I closed my eyes and ran names through my head. At random I picked one. I opened my eyes and said "Durin, my vote is for Durin.

*ick* Sorry I've not made many RP posts lately. :p Life's been... hectic. For your enjoyment, a semi-long update for Amethyst. :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amethyst returned Durin's hard stare, as if to make him fall weak under it. She heard Haydar vote for Clo in passing, but her mind was not really dwelt on the subject. "...would bring us closer to your hometown, right?!" She turned to answer him when Durin came walking, albeit shakily, over.
"Um, good morning." His voice sounded rough and husky, as if drinking ale wasn't the only thing he had done last night. He turned to Amethyst and gave a slight nod. "Good morning." He blushed at the obvious strain his throat was causing him.
Haydar gave Durin some herbs, advising that they would help his sleep. Durin hesitated, but took them graciously.
"Ok, you two, I think I have to spend some time alone, meditating. I hope to see you later!" He said as he left.
"What?! You can't leave me here! With.. him..." Amethyst thought to herself. She cast a sideways glance at Durin, who was eyeing the herbs suspiciously. "Good morning to you. Well, I suppose it's not really a good morning..."
"Hmm? No, I don't suppose it is."
"I trust you slept well?"
"Not really, I think I had too much to drink." Durin blushed again when he said this.
"Ah. I see." Amethyst chided herself for being so rusty on her small-talk topics. "Well, I guess I'll let you get some sleep. Those herbs will help, you know." She gave him a natural smile and then hurried off.
She went immediatly to her tent, where she started to pack her things. "We must soon leave this place," was a thought constantly revolving through her mind. Everything went into the trunk. Blankets and pillows, clothing, box of candles, extra gems she had found and thought too valuable to keep in her bag. She remembered that she had yet to choose which city to travel to. Their journey to the Apple Caves the day before had been wasted, and she hastily searched the map for another nearby city. "I think we need to go to Diamo. Yes, Diamo." She nodded her head in agreement with herself. She finished packing, then went outdoors. She saw, in happenstance, Moira lay flowers on Isolde's grave then wander off into the forest. This tragedy had affected the group greatly. No longer did they feel safe, even surrounded by skilled fighters. She turned and walked into the cave and sat down by the fire. She happened to take a seat next to Lynnia. She was the girl whom Durin had mistaken for Amethyst, when she was somewhat caught spying in the forest at Yopen.
"Hi. Mind if I sit here?"
"Mmm? Oh, go ahead." Lynnia seemed lost in thought.
Amethyst was somewhat wary in her question, but asked, "So, um, have you chosen anyone for the sacrifice yet?"
"Not yet."
"Do you have any ideas?"
"No, I'm just hoping I make the right decision."
"So am I. So am I..." Amethyst let this phrase fade off, as if she had more to say, but Lynnia was apparently uninterested. Amethyst sighed. It seemed that she was an outsider...
She left the cave shortly thereafter. She had to think alone. Absentmindedly, as if by habit, she returned to her tent and got her bag, and set out. She let herself wander to the edge of the forest, catching Vasquez and Orehael emerging a short distance away. She sighed. Everyone seemed to be in their own little groups already, making alliances and plans...
She startled herself when she stumbled over a rock. Amethyst regained her balance and composure and ventured further into the forest. She was searching, just searching this morning. But she had a general idea of what she was looking for. She came to a large marble outcropping in the hillside. Carefully, she ascended the hill and came to the top of the large stone block. She charmed it into a gravestone. She charmed only the name onto the rock, and the date of death.
She let a tear drop onto the stone. It shimmered in the morning sun. She took a deep breath and carefully descended the hill. She wandered back through the forest, hoping that the journey to camp would take longer than it had before. Her mind dwelled on who to offer for sacrifice. She thought of one name multiple times. Algernon. He was a suspicious character. If she was to trust her gut instinct, she had to vote for him. Her mood took an even farther downward turn. She hated offering up one of their own for sacrifice. She emerged from the forest around the same time that Haydar did. She turned and walked over to him. He noticed her larger bag.
"What's in your bag?"
Amethyst smiled. "A gravestone for Isolde. I thought it was only proper, considering..."
"That's a lovely thought. Maybe we should go put it at the grave?"
"Sure. That would be great."
They strolled over to the grave, almost in a funeral-esque way. The stone was carefully placed, reflecting the sunlight like a mirror. Amethyst whispered a spell onto the stone. It's brilliance doubled. "Now it will stay this way forever, as a reminder to those who venture along the path of the danger here." She let a tear fall, impacting the soft dirt below.
She and Haydar left the grave, more somber than ever. As they walked back to camp, Amethyst wondered, "How much more of this must we endure??"
"Who's there?" Dex called again, panic rising in his chest. A small, fuzzy squirrel scampered out of the underbrush. Dex let the breath hiss out of him an flopped back down, chuckling. "Big, brave Dex is afraid of a freaking squirrel.." He mumbled, rolling his eyes. Easing himself up he sauntered off farther into the wood, staring dreamily at the sky. "Oof!" Dex look hurriedly around to see of anyone had witnessed him walking into a tree. Myrra sat a few feet away with her back against a tree. She didn't seem to hear him. "Uh, hi." He said. "I didn't mean to bother you. Can I sit here?"
Yes Paco, just keep going with Miles. He was last left in the pub after sitting with Vasquez a while. You can pick up from there, or have him be somewhere else now. Use that great imagination that I know you have ;)
You might also want to look over the posts and see if you can get an idea for where people are, and if anyone posted an opening for someone else. If I can get this right: Orehael is talking to Nelinde. Vasquez is standing by herself, probably eyeing Orehael (she's hopeless), Algernon is off in the woods cooking up a stew for Lynnia and Linily, Dex just found Myrra sleeping in the woods, Durin is working off a mean hangover with some herbs, Amethyst and Haydar just placed a gravestone on Isolde's grave. And umm..that's all I have off the top of my head LOL I'm sure if you go over the posts, you'll find more.
Mell heard her Name many times. Will she be sacrificed? She thinks about it, but she is not sad. She even understand the others decision.
She´s still not sure, why she joined this group. She sits down on the earth and looking at the others, while she choose the one she want to sacrifice. Well... if she is the one who will be sacrificed she could choose every Name. So she choose: Algernon
I gazed off in the distance as the girl beside me tentatively spoke. She was soft-spoken, seemingly unsure of whether or not she should answer me. I learned that her name was Nelinde, and that she was from Copperstone, though she offered nothing more than answers to what I had asked. I did not blame her. We could trust no one, no matter how badly we wanted to. We sat in silence for a moment before she spoke again, "And you?"
I was caught by surprise through my own stupidity and lack of communication skills. Of course she would ask the same of me that I had of her. Why had I not anticipated that? I kept my gaze averted from the girl, focusing instead on the trees in the distance.
"I am called Orehael. I was born in Ereh, though I do not know if I would say that is where I am from. I have wandered through many lands over the years...and none have quite been home." A deep sadness filled my heart and I realized that the tone of this conversation was turning too cold for my liking. I finally turned my head to the girl beside me and flashed a smile, hoping it looked genuine. "It's the same old story really. Nothing special. A child whose parents had high hopes for him, becomes a disappointment to his family and friends alike. A story many can relate to I'm afraid."
As I finished my words, I felt someones stare upon me. I turned to look behind me slightly, and noticed Vasquez staring at me. She still stood in the same spot I had left her, and she didn't look too happy. Was she jealous or just concerned over the company I was keeping. It was true that I did not know if Nelinde was an innocent or a traitor. Still, I did not find this quiet girl to be traitorous. I turned my attention back to Nelinde and asked a question I had not yet asked anyone: "So...why did you choose to come on this journey?"
I knew that the question I posed could very well cause the girl to flee, but I thought it a fair question.
Kith noticed a girl stood at the bar, with long brown hair and elfin ears. He ambled over to her and put a hand on her shoulder. "You look familiar, do I know you from somewhere?" He took a seat next to her.
"No, I don't believe so?" she replied.
"I swear I know you. I'd never forget a pretty girls face. Aren't you a Companion? Mell or something, isn't it. Can I get you a drink?"
"Well, I was just about leaving. Goodbye, sir."
Kith frowned. How.. frigid... He decided to try his luck with a pretty blonde elf.
"You owe me a drink" he grinned.
"..Why?" the elf blinked.
"You just made me drop my other one." Kith's sober side groaned. That was far too cheesy.
"Oh.. right. Yeah." she turned back round to chat to her friend.
In a sulk, he strode out of the pub and back towards the caves where they were staying, still carrying a bottle of ale. Nobody wants you, Kith, he said to himself in contempt. He went down to a pond and looked at his reflection. With a snarl that sounded more like a whimper, he dunked his head in the water, trying to get rid of some of the drunk-ness. He looked up through the trees, and spotted two people he recognised - two companions, male and female. He let out a sigh of defeat.
After a few minutes of sitting, taking an occasional drink from the bottle, he heard footsteps nearby. Someone was coming! He couldn't be seen in this sorry, sulking state. He jumped to his feet, and backed off slightly so he was concealed in the shadows of the forest. "Who.. Who's there?"
-----
Can someone come use Kith? He's bored, and I don't know who's busy right now doing something else. I don't wanna steal anyones character if they're in the middle of doing something with them. Just adopt him and make him say stuff. I want to know how other people see him :p
On our way back to the camp Amethyst asked "How much more of this must we endure?" I knew that she did not expect an answer, and couldn't give one because I asked myself the same thing ...
I tried to change the subject. "I would really like to get to know all the people here ... This way it would be easier to see whom to trust!" I said. Like Durin, I really don't know what to think of him ... But he doesn't seem to be a traitor."
We finally reached the camp and decided to eat something.
I made a fire and we sat down.
"I even do not know you very well ... Let's share some stories." I said and asked Amethyst "What was your life like before you decided to be part of this mission?"
I wasn't really sure what to do with myself. Orehael had gone off to meet one of the girls sitting by herself. I didn't even realize I was staring at him until his eyes met mine again. I looked away quickly, a bit embarrassed to have been caught. It was ridiculous really. I know nothing of him and yet, I keep finding myself drawn to him.
The ridiculous thirst that I had built up while getting myself lost in the woods continued to nag at me, so I retrieved a small cup from my belongings and headed to the water. As I approached it, I could see a figure...a man perhaps...jump to his feet and disappear into the trees. I only hesitated slightly before recognizing him as the one they call Kith. He said something that I couldn't quite make out.
I bent before the water, letting my cup fill with the liquid that would finally quench my thirst. "I suppose you think you're well concealed back there" I said to the trees. As I lifted the cup and drank, I could hear his footsteps - slowly retreating from his hiding place.
"Heyyyyy." he said, in an obviously drunken state. "I've seen you before. You're Vakeck."
"Vasquez"
"That's what I said. Vakeck." He lifted a bottle of ale to his lips and took a drink.
I looked him over and determined that he couldn't have been much older than 18 or 19 years old. "And you're drunk Kith." I grabbed the bottle from his hand and tossed it into the woods. "That stuff'll kill you."
Kith was not happy with my decision to dispose of his little bottle friend, and made that well known. "Hey! Hey hey hey! That was my last one!"
"Good thing then." I bent down and took another drink from the water, enjoying the feel of the cool water as it made it's way down my throat.
"You owe me one now Vakeck."
"Vasquez"
"That's what I said."
I stood up and let me gaze fall on his. "What are you doing out here anyway? Besides drinking yourself into oblivion."
Myrra was petting a cute little bunny she found hiding under her bed. He was so fuzzy and cuddly, "What should I name you..." She thought up many names. But couldnt decide, "Which one would you like to have little bunny?"
To her surpise, the bunny was about to speak. How she knew this she did not know, but she listened intently to what he had to say.
He said:
"I didn't mean to bother you. Can I sit here?"
Myrra was startled from her sleep by Dex's question. She looked around groggily, and stood up.
"Huh....Wheres the talking bunny?" She looked around almost franticly, obviously still half asleep. Dex raised a brow.
She leaned against the tree she had been sleeping against, shaking her head laughing at herself.
"Sorry, it was a dream I was having. Oh, and yeah, you can sit there." She smiled.
Dex sat down, Myrra joined, moving down the tree she was leaning against to sit down on the ground.
"Well it's night time, Vakeck. It's time for everyone to enjoy themselves! And I can't! You threw away my drink! How - How can I have fun now?" he slurred. "I only came out here to look impressive, anyways. So I can say to girls back in Lethys, Hey, I'm a hero." Kith stood on a rock, laughing. "All impressive like. They'll write books all about me, and my adventures! I'll be famous, and-" he hiccoughed "Everyone'll love me! That bottle was still half full!" he added.
"Aren't you a bit young to be drinking?" Vasquez asked.
"No! I'm twenty-five." he lied, chewing his lip. Seeing the look of doubt on her face, he added "..in a few years."
He made his way out towards the forest, tripping over tree roots and rocks. "I'm going to find it and get it back!"
"It smashed when I threw it. There'll be none left, anyway"
Kith started to move, then stopped and realised what Vasquez had said. For a few seconds he looked confused, or angry, or upset. Eventually, he decided on the latter, and sat down on the rock near Vasquez with a sigh of resignment. He examined her, carefully. Was she a lot older than him, or was it her persona? She seemed wise and experienced, and quite guarded. This intrigued Kith. "So, why are you coming along with us, Vakeck?"
"So.. why are you coming along with us, Vakeck?"
Kith was sitting on the rock next to me, swaying a bit from side to side. "Oh dear lord" I said, more to myself than to him. I scooped another cup full of water up, then spun around and flung the cold water directly at his face. The water splashed right on target, catching him off guard.
"Hey now!" he answered with a sputter "What was that for?"
"Time for you to sober up young Kith."
Kith shook the water from his hair and wiped at his face with both hands. "That was uncalled for Vakeck!"
"Vasquez"
"And you didn't answer my question! Why are you here? With us?" He was looking me dead on, appearing to be just a touch more sober than he was a moment before...compliments of a face full of cold water.
"Well" I said, pulling myself to a standing position. "If you must know, I was sent here."
Kith gulped hard. I could tell that I was making him nervous as I stood over him. "Sent...sent here? May I ask, who sent you?"
"Saxton" I could almost hear all the questions his eyes had to ask. "He was my lover."
"Lover! Oh boy! Well won't ole Orehael be happy to hear..."
"He's dead" I interrupted him. "He was on this quest when he was killed. I'm here to finish it in his memory." I grabbed onto my pendant, realizing the emotions that I kept bottled up so well were rising quickly. "If you'll excuse me..."
I left my cup beside the pond as I walked back to the camp and to my belongings. I could see Orehael, still talking to Nelinde. Other companions were stirring about, some still talking about the sacrifice and about where to travel. I stood and watched the group, thinking about what was about to happen. One of these people would be dead very soon. I would most certainly be burying another body. I looked down at my hands, still sore from burying Isolde, but they appeared blurry in front of me. Someone would be dead. Killed much in the same way that Saxton was.
Myrra couldnt help but giggle.
"Im not too sure." She looked around, "Probably went to bother someone else." She shrugged and smiled goofily. Dex laughed slightly and shook his head, a reaction she acually got quite frequently.
"So...what are you doing sleeping in the middle of the woods anyway?" Dex asked after a couple seconds of silence. "It just seems a bit..weird. No offense" He added quickly.
Myrra laughed, "Thats alright. I came out here to, you know, be alone. Must have lost track of time and dozed off." She then remembered an earlier thing Dex had said, "I dont mind you having woken me either. Im kind of nervous being alone, you know. After Isolde..." She broke off, hoping she wouldnt have to say more.
"Yeah..." Dex said in understandment.
A couple silent moments passed. Myrra looked up at the sky to see, to her surprise, that the sun was setting. How long had she been sleeping?
"Jeez its getting late." She said, standing up, "Maybe we should head back."
Dex stood up in agreement, and they started walking back to the camp.
I couldn't bear to think it any longer. I closed myself from the rest of the companions... I had to close my eyes and shut them all out.
By the time I opened my eyes again dawn was breaking, I didn't feel much better but I knew I had to cast a vote. “Now” I know there really is a traitor among us, I guess I didn't really believe it before. As I was going through camp I heard names being thrown out... some of the names called I couldn't believe were traitors but others... I heard Algernon being called... by himself... "Why would someone vote themselves to be sacrificed?" As I glanced around, there were a few other people voting for them as well. Why? I too had thought of doing that, but I didn’t want to die by my own doing or any others. I looked at their faces; my attention kept being drawn toward Mell... But she seemed so innocent… Was she the one? How many are there? I couldn’t help saying it, it just came out so fast…I had to be right. “Mell Coler” I said with a sigh as I lowered my head, “we should travel towards Diamo.”
Nelinde stared at me, obviously reluctant to answer my question. I could tell she was feeling uncomfortable, and despite how badly I had wanted an answer to that question, I realized there was no reason for me to ask such a thing from this young girl I had just met.
"Never mind," I said quickly. "I must beg your pardon mi'lady. That question was...uncalled for. We all have our reasons for being here, and you need answer to no one." I sighed as I rose from my spot beside Nelinde, and bowed my head slightly. "I am sorry if I upset you. I'll take my leave now." The girl nodded once and diverted her eyes from me. "I did a wonderful job of helping her feal at ease..." I thought sarcastically.
I turned from Nelinde and walked towards the spot where I had left Vasquez--at least she might be happy to see me. I noticed then that she was no longer where I had left her. Instead she was near her things at the camp, staring at her hands as if she didn't recognize them. She looked sad, as if she were about to cry? No, that couldn't be...could it? Vasquez was not the type to show her grief, but perhaps it was only I that could notice. I had spent much time with her as of late.
My gaze remained on Vasquez as I approached the spot where I had left her. Part of me wanted to go to her, to wrap her in my arms and tell her everything would be okay. I couldn't though. I couldn't assure her of anything, and she surely wouldn't want my comfort anyway--no one ever did. I sat, resting my back upon the cool bark of a great tree, and staring out at the group before me. Some still remained missing...having retreated from the companions after making their vote for the sacrifice. The sacrifice! I still hadn't cast my vote yet...
My mood turned dark, and I closed my eyes trying to regain my composure. I hadn't felt like this since my honor was lost and I left the place of my father. That had been a cold time in my life, one I did not wish to remember, full of emotions that I could not allow to resurface. I opened my eyes quickly, the emotion still not fully gone when I called out, "Algernon. I vote to sacrifice Algernon." My voice came out sounding more like a growl, and I closed my eyes again, my brows forming a scowl and my lips shaped into a frown. "And I vote to travel to Clo." My voice sounded more my own that time, as the storm of my emotions was quieting.
"A talking rabbit?" Moira said. She couldn't help over hearing Myrra and Dex's conversation. "I think I saw it running around in the forest, it was signing 'yayayayaayaaaayaayaya!' and I think it was eating some skittles. "Oh my, that can't be good for it!" Dex replied, running off to find his rabbit.
*crash* *squawk* "What was THAT?!" Moira exclaimed, startled by the noise. "Probably just a bird, or a limb falling." Myrra replied. "What if it was something worse!?" Moira said, obviously alarmed. "It's probably nothing." Myrra said. "Let's go back to the camp, it's getting late."
:lol: I acually took that from something I once did. Except in my case it was a dancing elephant, not a talking bunny. :egg My brother still teases me about it almost a year later
123...question I asked this a few pages ago but it never got answered. Are we gonna get hints though like pictures and stuff like the last hidden palace? Or not?:P. Just curious.
Yep you will :) I won't be mentioning if they are clues or not though.
RP: Durin took the herbs, hesitating slightly. Was Haydar someone to trust? This horrible situation they all had found themselves in resulted in suspicion. But his pounding head and heavy eyes... "Thank you, Haydar," he said quietly giving a nervous smile. I suppose I can get someone to check if they're dangerous for me later, he reasoned. He planned to say more to Haydar - though he wasn't quite sure what he wanted to say, just something to keep Haydar with him - but Haydar made a hasty retreat to meditate. Which left Durin standing uncomfortable alone with Amethyst.
"Good morning to you. Well, I suppose it's not really a good morning..." Durin gave a start, not realizing Amethyst had been planning on talking to him. Not after his behavior last night, anyway.
"No, I don't suppose it is." How surly he sounded! He wished he was having an easier time chatting with her. Perhaps if he had another drink?
"I trust you slept well?" Amethyst fired another question at him. Durin had the uneasy idea that she was trying to get him to admit to his shameful state. He scuffed his boots on the ground, wishing it weren't quite so sunny out. At least his hearing was regular, for Amethyst wasn't talking all too quietly.
"Not really, I think I had too much to drink," he muttered quickly. There. He had said it. But ah, his blush was rising again! Why couldn't he have been like Mother, and never show embarrassment?
"Ah. I see." Amethyst's knowing look made Durin feel his neck flush as well. Why couldn't he ever come out right? "Well, I guess I'll let you get some sleep. Those herbs will help, you know." Amethyst quickly walked off, leaving Durin feeling lonely, slightly humiliated, and wishing he could have another drink.
An hour later, Durin found himself sitting down heavily on a rock next to a man, clearly drunk and had a long rag of scruffy black hair. He eyed the man's pocket instinctively, then inwardly scolded himself. Jeez, Durin, how many times until you learn? Durin slumped forward, the bottle he had managed to find sloshing side to side. No, I am not drunk. I'm merely drinking... Socially. He stared down at his bottle. It was still more than three quarters full - he had drunk more last night, he thought. As he shifted on his rock, to get a better glimpse at the man he had unabashedly sat down next to, he felt the herbs digging into his side. He remembered dimly that he was supposed to be treating his hangover, not feeding it. He turned to the man. "We," he started sloppily. Frowning, he tried again. "We, can'tot, I mean, cannot, drink like this." He smiled, proud that he had managed to only slur a little bit. He looked back to his bottle. Somehow, he had managed to drink it down to half left. His eyebrows furrowed. He dug into his pocket, pulled out the herbs, and offered one to the man. "I don't know you," he said confidentially, slurring the "know", "but I do-" he flourished the herbs - "have stuff to make it stop." When saying stopped, he waved his arms vaguely to indicate all their troubles. However, this movement caused a wave of nausea. I'm not the only guilty one, he thought hazily. Lot's off others voted for her. Poor stupid rotten ol' thing, why'm I voting her dead? The tablet he had clumsily written his vote on half an hour before, roughly 3/5ths of a bottle ago, dug into his hand as he clutched it tightly. "'S not my fault," he mumbled to the man, who still was gazing at him with a confused look, "that I'm doing what they're all doin'. 'S it, now?"
The tablet read:
Sacrifice: Mell Coler
Travel To: Clo
The grubby thumb prints along the edge and stains of beer couldn't hide the tear marks that splattered the tablet.
......
Sorry for the late vote! I wanted to fit it into an RP, but didn't really... Sorry, BlackLips! :( *hug* I felt awful deciding, couldn't think who could possibly be guilty...
Poor Durin's talking to Kith, if it's not clear. I know he was drunk yesterday (in RP world time!), but it's too fun playing him this way to not let him be drunk for a little longer. Anyway, he's not completely drunk. :giggler:
Haylifer - hope Durin walking up to your Kith's OK and fits in with your storyline!
This is the most challenging RP I have ever been in, its not easy trying to spot the traitor, how we do know when clues have been dropped by them? Kheelan's ears are listening keenly and his eyes are watching intently lol.
