Algernon continued the fight with his sword for a good ten minutes. Luckily, he was able to pick the higher quality arrows off a native. They were covered in a goo, that lit up rather well.
*BOOM* ... *BOOM*... *CHRSSSSSSS*... *BOOM*
Those sounds were undeniable. They were large, and well known to Algernon. As he looked up into the treetops, his thoughts were confirmed. A large forest troll, about 10 feet high, came crashing into the area. Of course, Goblins and Trolls dont always mix well, but it seemed this troll had heard the noise. However, this was the least of their worries.
Algernon heard a roar from behind him. Through the clearing, a mountain troll made its pass through. Great, two trolls, a horde of goblins, and a bunch of panicked natives.
'I'll take the mountain troll by myself, you all focus your shots on the forest troll. If we're lucky, they'll kill off the other goblins," said Algernon, ruffling his bag for a potion bottle.

Do we actually have the Ring with us? And we're carrying it to the Hidden Palace to be destroyed? :blink:
Yep you are exactly right. :)

Okay! It's finally time for Calliope to ask Vasquez why she killed Dex. Here we go...
Calliope woke up late the next day. What a good day this is going to be... I get to leave this hot, sticky rainforest... hopefully, a foul traitor will be exposed and disposed of... Oh... Dex... Why did Vasquez do that? I understand I am not in the company of the brightest individuals, but I had figured Vasquez to be among the better ones. And what could she possibly have wanted with his eyes? It's all rather off-putting... I hope she is not too mortified when I tell her she's made a mistake. Some protector she turned out to be... Dex is gone and my enemies are still out there. I must demand that she fix this!
(some amount of time passes, and when Vasquez is alone and available, Calliope approaches her)
"Vasquez, I greatly appreciate what you've offered to do for me, but I must tell you that you've made a mistake. Dex wasn't out to get me, he was supplying me with food. Now, exactly why did you kill him?"

“I noticed the knife that you put away...it's a pretty big one, have you killed before?”
After Serenity asked me this, she started going on about some rabbit she stepped on that was begging for it's life. I decided at that moment, that whatever herb she was sniffing, I wanted some of. She started laughing at her own joke, which I was grateful for. Now maybe I wouldn't have to answer the question.
"Well?" asked Haydar. "Have you killed before?"
My mind slipped back to a time in my life that I would never forget. "Yes I have." I answered them while avoiding eye contact. I had hoped that revealing this part of my life wouldn't throw suspicion my way, but it's something I am not ashamed of and have never hidden before.
"You...you have?!" It was obvious that this wasn't the answer she was expecting.
"Just once. It was either him or me." I looked at each of them, their faces looking a bit more pale than previously. "Well it's not like I go around chopping people's heads off and staking them in my yard. He killed my parents, and threatened to kill my sister and me. So I grabbed a knife from the kitchen and..." Now they were looking just plain green. "Like I said, it was him or me."
Serenity gulped hard, then forced herself to speak. "Oh. Well. I suppose. Yes. That's uh...understandable?" She shifted a bit and tried to liven up the conversation. "So tell me about your sister. Where is she now?"
I refused to let myself feel it again. It was well hidden deep within me, and that was where it was staying. "I have no family left. Everyone that I've loved is..." My voice trailed off as I saw Orehael, staring solemnly at Dex's grave. "Dead. Everyone is dead."
Serenity looked at Orehael and back at me. "I'm pretty sure that how this works, is that you have to actually go over to him first."
I'm sure the look I shot her wasn't a very nice one, but it was only because I was dreading confronting Orehael about Myrra. I was dreading hearing the words "I don't love you." Before I could say anything, another woman sat down next to Serenity. I had seen her around, but never talked with her. I knew her as Korinne.
"Please, feel free to remain here and talk as long as you like." I said, as I pulled myself to a stand. "I need to walk." I never was a very inactive person, and all this recouperating time was making me very anxious and edgy. A walk through camp, or perhaps following a trail through the forest, would do me a lot of good.
I walked the length of the camp, where I came across a path I hadn't seen before. I looked back over my shoulder - just enough to see Orehael watching me. As my body stepped into the forest, my mind was back in the woods of Clo - back to our kiss in the woods.
I reached a clearing in the forest, much smaller than our camp was, but much more beautiful. The sun burst through the trees, illuminating the ground before me. It was a breathtaking and peaceful spot...the perfect spot for me to practice in.
In each hand, I held a dagger. I looked to the ground and slowed my breathing down. With my breathing slowed and my senses heightened, I stood very still...waiting.
The faint fluttering sound echoed through my head. I spun around, releasing my daggers into the air, one immediately after the other. They sliced through the air, hitting their mark dead on. I walked over to the tree to retreive my daggers from the trunk - the lifeless bodies of the butterflies I'd just impaled still stuck to the tree.
As I reclaimed my spot, preparing to throw again, I saw a figure walking towards me.

OOC: Nayan I hope it's okay that I put so much dialogue by Serenity in there. If not, let me know and I'll change it.

You could be carrying it to protect it from traitors who would steal it and run off to do nasty things to it..?
It's only for RP anyway, so it's a bit more.. material. Rather than the spirit of the ring following us around. :eviltongu

Haylifer I edited the first post, so now you are holding it. Remember though, you were warned not to wear it- but nobody can really stop you if you want to.
You will carry it until you decide to give it to someone else.

LOL don't let anyone talk you out of it- just because you are holding the ring doesn't mean you want to use it for evil or you're a traitor. You are simply carrying it, someone has to carry it, right? It can't walk by itself..

I stared at the Goblin. I was not going to cower before him. He raised his arm to cast the fatal blow. He never got the chance. An arrow imbedded itself in his head. He fell forward and I hastened to get out of his way. I was not entirely successful. As a result the tip of his sword opened a gash on my arm. I muttered a totally unladylike curse at the dead Goblin at my feet and added a swift kick to punctuate it. I then turned in time to see my rescuer, Myrra, being knocked down. Unmindful of the blood running down my arm, I picked up the fallen sword and went to her aid, as she'd come to mine.
The goblin hefted his club, and I struck. I swiped the back of his leg, and when he fell I swung the sword with all my strength and buried it it the creature's neck. I quickly scanned the area. For the moment we appeared to be safe. I dropped down beside her, fearing that she was already gone. Luckily she was just unconscious. I wasn't sure what to do. I couldn't just leave her there. In the end, I dragged her to the coverage of some bushes. I tore a piece of cloth off my cloak and quickly wrapped it around my wounded arm. As I finished I heard:
*BOOM* ... *BOOM*... *CHRSSSSSSS*... *BOOM*
I gasped as two trolls entered the battle.
"I'll take the mountain troll by myself, you all focus your shots on the forest troll. If we're lucky, they'll kill off the other goblins," I heard Algernon cry out.
Uttering a quick prayer, I gripped my sword tightly with my uninjured arm and ran towards the forest troll.

-----
Curse you fool midgets!! Elroen cried out as he kicked one goblin to the side, skewered another, elbowed a third, kick a forth, decapitated a fith and then grabbed another by the collar and threw the filthy greenskin into a fireplace, the goblin instantly catched fire like if he was covered in oil.
The battle was grim and confusing, desperate and bloody.
Neither side would expect quarter, and none was given.
Four goblins burs into the tent of Madeline.
As the horrible greenskins entered, she screamed with fear.
Elroen saw what happened, and he ran toward the tent. The goblins attacked, screaming curses in their own guttural tongue.
Elroen shouted back at them hacked and slashed with his blade, two of the goblins fell dead before him but one managed to dodge his way passed the deadly blade.
In mere seconds a dozen goblins where on top of him, but Elroen could thank his lucky star as Madeline came to his rescue, slashing the goblins. Madeline landed yet another well placed strike, crushing a goblin's chest and killing him instantly.

Her hair was up and a strand of hair was in her face, she blew it away from her face. Elroen was lying on the ground looking up at Madeline......... who apparently was in her undies.
Madeline squealed, "Oh my God, out!". She pushed Elroen out... but was still laughing and smiling.

Algernon darted off to the troll. It was a good 15-20 feet tall, and cycloptic. It held a fashioned club deep in its greasy palms, smashing huts and goblins on its way.
Algernon ducked out of the way and opened his bag. He pulled out a nasty looking liquid. It was blackish, and had a foul odor. It had taken him nearly 250 Years to culture, and he was reluctant to use it. But desperate times took desperate measures, and he gulped it down.
Outside again, the troll was bashing away. Further off, the jungle troll was having a lot of trouble with Algernon's other companions. However, when the mountain troll flipped around, even he was frightened.
There stood Algernon, over 25 feet tall, grosly deformed, and swollen looking. It was a growing potion, but it made him uglier than the troll itself. He uprooted one of the trees and bashed it across the troll's head. It collapsed with an earthshattering kaboom (hehe.. marvin the martian)!
Algernon wobbled, and slowly blanked out. He did what he had too, and he had payed the price. As he reduced down to normal size and appearance, one of the last goblins jumped out. The goblin took a spear and drove it deep into Algernon/s stomach. He clinched, and beheaded the fiend. He felt life seeping out of his gut, pain unlike any other he had had before. He gasped as blood rushed out of his mouth. The last thing he could do was grab ahold of his pouch, and a bottle that someone would hopefully use.
And there Algernon lay, wounded, naked, and draining of life... hopefully, someone would come.

Still I stood by the graveside of Dex. I knew that whoever had killed him had harmed Vasquez, and when I found out who the traitor was, I would kill him myself. It was then that I noticed Vasquez rise from her spot and start into the woods. I watched her intently as she disappeared into the trees, and I cursed under my breath. She had nearly been killed once, and I wouldn't let her go wandering into the forest alone where she could be the victim of yet another attack. I wouldn't approach her, of course. She probably wanted to be alone. But I would stay in the shadows of the trees, keeping watch over her.
I followed silently behind Vasquez, careful not to step on any twigs. She came to an opening in the trees--a beautiful spot where the sunlight burst through the canopy of trees and seemed to make the ground below shine. It was breathtaking...and if things were as they were in Clo, I would have loved to hold Vasquez in this magical setting. Alas, things were not the same...
I stood behind a tree, invisible to the human eye. Elves had a way of blending in to their surroundings. As that thought flew through my mind I wondered if that was how the traitor had surprised Vasquez. She was not one to easily be snuck up upon...but perhaps one of the other elves in our group was the traitor? I felt the rage within me begin to boil as I remembered Haydar's interest in her, and wondered if he were the one to have harmed her. But that made little sense. Haydar did not seem traitorous...Algernon, though. He cared little for my love.
My train of thoughts was suddenly interrupted by the familiar sound of weapons flying through the air, and heard as two blades embedded themselves in the trunk of the tree I was hidden behind. I held my breath as I heard Vasquez's footsteps approaching, and heard her pull the knives from the bark. She returned to her previous spot, probably to get another throw at the tree. I gazed around the trunk, still hidden in the shadows, but able to see Vasquez. It was then that I saw someone approaching her--it was Calliope.
I watched as the girl I had accompanied to a bar nights before approached Vasquez. She began to speak and I had to concentrate hard on hearing what was being said, tuning my elvish ears to the conversation at hand.
"Vasquez, I greatly appreciate what you've offered to do for me, but I must tell you that you've made a mistake. Dex wasn't out to get me, he was supplying me with food. Now, exactly why did you kill him?"
Was she mad?! Accusing Vasquez of killing someone? Of killing Dex...for Calliope? That was insane! I had to fight against myself to stay where I was, but I wanted so badly to go to Calliope and pull her away from Vasquez, putting that girl in her place.

The troll was a fierce fighter, but slowly, oh so slowly, we were starting to wear it down. It was covered with slashmarks, and had at least a dozen arrows sticking out of it. From the other side of the village I could hear Algernon fighting with his troll. Finally, the troll we were battling fell to the ground and lay there, motionless. I looked around. The remaining Goblins the trolls had not killed had run off. It appeared the battle was over. Sickly I looked at the bodies that lay strewn about what had once been a peaceful village. I realized that I could not hear anymore fighting.
Algernon must have killed the troll he was battling, I thought. I looked, and with fresh horror recognized the still form of Algernon lying next to the dead troll. I dropped my bloody sword and ran over to him. I blanched as I saw the gaping wound in his stomach. I took of my cloak, wadded it up and pressed it against the wound. I didn't know what to do. I was no healer. I looked up at Elroen. Madeline stood beside him. I hadn't even realized she had joined the battle.
"He needs help," I said. My eyes caught sight of a vial clasped in his hand. I pried it out and opened it. I wish he was conscious so he could tell me what to do, I thought. Just because he had grabbed it didn't mean he wanted us to use it. I was about to pour it down his throat, when I stopped. It seemed awfully thick. To thick to drink.
"What are you doing," Elroen asked me.
"Saving him," I said aloud then mentally added I hope. I removed my bloody cloak and poured the contents over his wound, then waited to see if I had saved him or killed him.

"Vasquez, I greatly appreciate what you've offered to do for me, but I must tell you that you've made a mistake. Dex wasn't out to get me, he was supplying me with food. Now, exactly why did you kill him?"
Calliope stood before me, fixing her hair as she spoke.
I was dumbfounded. She couldn't be serious...could she? I knew she'd never believe anything I said anyway, so I said the first thing that came to my mind. "Gee I don't know. PMS?" My sarcastic tone should have clued her in, but if she picked up on it at all, she was ignoring it.
"Make sure you get it right next time okay? It's my enemies you're going to kill. Not my friends. Thanks Vasquez!" She spun on her heel, and headed out of the woods. I stood in my spot, staring at her retreating back. As an afterthought, I yelled out to her, "And I want my food back!".
Getting my mind back on practicing was tough. Maybe I shouldn't have answered her that way. I don't want her skipping back to camp, announcing that I admitted to killing Dex. I shook my head, confident that nobody would listen to her anyway.
I took my place back in the clearing, then lowered my head and slowed my breathing down. The sounds of the forest came alive - the distant water rushing downstream, various animals scurrying through the forest, a butterflies wings and...breathing? It was very faint, but it was there.
Someone was watching me.
I spun around, releasing my daggers into the air. They landed in the tree trunk less than an inch from my first throw. I slowly walked towards the tree and removed my daggers.
"You can come out from behind the tree now." I said to the small piece of black cloth sticking out from behind the tree. "I promise not to use your head as a target." I snickered to myself, thinking a little bit of a scare would be good for my stalker. Daggers in hand, I watched as he emerged.
"Orehael?"
He stepped towards me, his eyes avoiding mine.
"What are you doing watching me?"
"My apologies Mi'Lady." he said, still avoiding my eyes.
"Mi'Lady?" My anger was building up quickly. First, he drops me for...her...and now I'm back to being Mi'Lady? Before I could stop myself, the question that I truly did not want to hear to answer to, came out.
"Shouldn't you be getting back to Myrra?"

"Shouldn't you be getting back to Myrra?"
I flinched at Vasquez's words. She thought I should be with...Myrra? Or she thought I wanted to be with Myrra...instead of her? I brought my eyes to hers and blinked twice, trying to figure out what she meant and how I should respond. Seeing the anger in her eyes, I knew what she meant with those words. She actually thought that it was Myrra I wanted! How could she think that? Then I remembered meeting Vasquez's gaze as I had helped Myrra bury Dex...and I remembered her sitting with Haydar while he played her caring companion. I felt the anger build up within me that I had felt upon first seeing them together.
"And shouldn't Haydar be the one out here ensuring your safety?" I growled, my eyes narrowing to slits as I glared at the woman before me...the woman I loved.
I saw the surprise in her eyes at my words. She seemed to be feeling just as I had when she had suggested I would rather be with Myrra than with her. She opened her mouth to speak but before a single word could escape her lips, I took three strides towards her and had her in my arms. My lips found hers and I kissed her deeply...as we had kissed in the woods in Clo. Breathless I pulled away from her, the passion evident in my eyes. "You drive me mad woman. And you make me bold." My voice was deep with lust. I released her body from my arms and turned back towards the camp. "It's not safe out here alone. I'll be heading back to camp...and I suggest you do the same."

Dang Ive had like no time at all to rp in like 6 hours>.<. Anyway, heres one..
Myrra was unbelievably weak. She could feel herself slowly swimming back into consciousness. The cold ground beneath her was all she felt, she wanted to spend an eternity lying here...
With a groan, Myrra rolled over slowly, her whole body was terrably achey. She reached her hand up to her cheek, the entire right side of her face was filled with pain. She could feel a nasty gash cut thing where she was hit by the goblins club. It stung as she touched it, and she quickly drew her hand away.
She rolled over again, surveying her surroundings through foggy vision. She wasnt sure were she was, but I didnt seem to be the village anymore. At least, if it was, the fighting had stopped.
Her vision cleared a bit as she struggled more to focus her surroundings, she managed the strength to sit up a little. Myrra squinted her eyes, she seemed to be back at the campsite.
Satisfied, she let herself lie back down, clutching her cheek as it was very painful. She also noticed her ankle was swollen and there was a painful throbbing that spread from her foot up to just above her knee. I must have injured it when I was knocked down, she figured. She got as comfortable as possible, and she just lay there on the ground.

I will leave her on the list until she gets sacrificed or executed. This is the second time she's been temp. banned while in one of my contests lol. Last time she got banned in the middle and came back and finished to the end, so I think she will still be able to play. Hopefully it will only be a couple of days, so she won't miss too much.
The mods will consider anything that isn't an RP/vote/question or logical comment spam, so watch out!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was because of the welcome thread. But the spam has been increasing a little, so I just want to warn everyone. I think maybe because it's the beginning of the weekend so everyone has time to post something. :)

As much as I am loving reading this, I feel like I should warn you guys about your 3 RPG limit. Nobody's been warned in here for a whole what...3 days? We're on a roll. ;)
You jinxed it!! hehe:lol:
Curious question 123.....You know how we have only three rpg posts in 24 hours? Is that by an chance going to increase a little as more and more people are killed and stuff, since there will be less people posting rpgs in the first place? Wondering lol.

Feeling very much ignored, Kith jumped back in his time machine and travelled back to normal time.
-----------
(OOC: There we go. Now I can actually RP again, yey.)
-----------
Kith marched along, holding the thing out at arms length. Why did I volunteer for this? To see how long it'd take me to lose the damn thing? He sat down under a tree to inspect the damned thing in proper light. Holding it up, he noticed it was a pretty pale yellowy gold colour, glinting happily in the Clo sunlight. My old man makes a dozen of these a day. What makes this so special, eh? It was just a hoop of regular metal. Probably fake, too. He bit it, the agonising crunch confirming that it was indeed metal. After a few seconds of nursing his poor mouth, he decided that it must be the wedding ring of some elvish celebrity. Yes, that's why everyone seemed so infatuated with it! Just a silly little novel thing.
He tossed it in the air and caught it a couple of times, and another thought came to mind. Maybe it has magic powers! He'd read books describing boring old oil lamps or books that had phenomenal cosmic powers thanks to some genie or witch-spell. Setting the thing down on the ground in front of him, he leant towards it.
"Ring! I order you to make me rich!" he put on a deep, commanding voice. But no avalanches of cash came flowing from the mountains, to Kith's disappointment. His three coins made a clanking sound in his pocket, mocking him, and he realised he was on all fours, his face inches from the ring on the floor. He frowned at the ring, composing himself. Maybe he had to say some magic words to make it work.
"Abracadabra!" Nothing. "Alakazam! Hocus pocus! Open sesame!" He picked the ring up and rubbed it furiously. It worked for Aladdin, he reasoned. Having no luck, he found some elvish writing circling the ring. Fortunately, he could read the elvish characters (He stroked his ear tips affectionately). He began to read the verse;
Ash nazg durbatulûk, ash nazg gimbatul, ash nazg thrakatulûk, agh burzum-ishi krimpatul.
For some reason, as he spoke, the world seemed to get a little darker. A cloud passed over the sun, and all birds stopped their chatter as if on command. Kith was left realising he felt quite depressed.
But what does it mean? He asked himself. He racked his brain for the translation to the verse, but he could only pick out one or two words. "Ash" meant One, he was sure of that. All that time in school counting up to twenty in all five tongues of Middle Earth had paid off. But the rest was just a foreign mess.
He couldn't help his curiosity. What did the words mean? What had he just said? Then, he remembered someone who might be able to help.
"Si-laaas?" he called out to the silence of the camp.

Layre got up to the sound of people rushing around and Elroen screaming at Madeline for help. Layre hurried over to see what was the matter and if she could be of service, and peeked into Madeline's tent. When she saw that Algernon was injured she rushed over to take a look at him. She held Algernon's head in her hands, slowly moving it from side to side, then she lifted his shirt to look at the wound. "He will be fine, he just needs plenty of rest and to relax. I will make a tea, that should help with the pain while I do what I have to do." Layre then noticed Algernon clutching his pouch, she pried it out of his fingers and gave it to Madeline for safe keeping. Elroen, I'm going to need your help in holding Algernon down while I remove the spear head from his stomache. Madeline, I'll need your help at keeping the area clean of blood while I work." Layre normally spoke in a soft voice, but when she had a task at hand she could be very forthright and clearly explain what she needs.
Layre made a tea from some of the herbs that she carried around with her at all times and handed it to Madeline. "Make sure he drinks all of this, it's very important.[/b]
Meanwhile Layre took out other herbs, carefully selecting them using only a specific amount, and finally placing them into a mortar and pulverized them into a paste. Walking back over to where Algernon laid, she looked at both Madeline and Elroen and gave them a nod to indicate she was ready to begin. Elroen placed his knees on either side of Algernon's head, pressing them down onto his shoulders while holding Algernon's arms with his hands. Madeline sat to the side of Algernon and was carefully wiping blood from around the wound.
Using a knife Layre carefully cut around the spearhead to make it easier to remove. "On the count of 3, I'm going to pull." Without waiting for a response Layre began counting, and on the count of 3 pulled out the spearhead. Algernon gave a roar and bucked at the restraints but Elroen held him fast. Blood started pouring out the hole that was left behind, with Madeline using rag after rag to soak it up. Layre looked at the wound and sighed thankfully. "It's not a serious wound, he will be fine in 2 days, he just will need to take it easy tomorrow."
Layre then proceeded to the wound with the paste she had made, and wrapping fresh linen tightly around him to hold it all in place. Layre sighed contentedly at a job well done.

OOC sorry I power-played here a bit, I hope you don't mind :D Also Infernal I know that you had something in that pouch, but Layre has her own methods of healing and they are very good too, NOT involving magic ;) And yes he'll be fine, just a bit sore tomorrow and shouldn't exert himself...but Layre had made the paste extra potent to work quickly ;)

But I suppose Silas is quiet, not the type to butt in. He's an elf, right? I could edit my last RP so that Kith has to go ask Silas for a translation of the elvish. Yep, I'm going to do that, watch that space ^^

Silas snapped awake at the sound of his name. "H-wha?" He blinked rapidly, trying to hide the fact that he had just fallen asleep, rubbed the blurriness from his eyes.
"Silas, come here!"
He stretched, yawned, and stood, leaning his violin up against the trunk as he moved over to Kith. "What do you need?"
Kith beckoned him closer. "Do you know what this means?" He held out a ring, and Silas leaned in to look at it.
"It just looks like a regular ring to-" Halfway through the sentence, he saw writing. His brow furrowed and he took it from Kith's hands, holding it with two fingers and bringing it close to his eyes. Ash nazg durbatulûk, ash nazg gimbatul, ash nazg thrakatulûk, agh burzum-ishi krimpatul. The words sent a shiver up his spine, and he took in a small breath. "One ring to rule them all, one ring to find them, one ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them."
He gave it back quickly; this ring was not normal, and he did not want to touch it. It made his skin crawl.

Myrra sat up, and looked around. Layre Elroen and Melanie were in Melanie's tent taking care of Algernon. Myrra stood up slowly, and limped over to the stream on the edge of camp. She glanced quickly at her reflection, not nearly as bad as she thought. She expected half her face to be swollen and deformed, it sure felt that way. But it was just a little red, though the gash stood out very prominently.
She soaked her bad leg in the water and held a wet rag up to her cheek. With a jolt, Myrra suddenly turned and looked around camp. She never found out whether or not she acually managed to save Lynnia. Her hoped fell as she realized she couldnt find her anywhere. She turned back to the stream, shaking her head. Just because you cant see her from where your sitting doesnt mean shes dead. After all, she could be in a tent or wandering the woods...
Myrra picked up a rock and skipped it across the stream. She did the same with a second, and third, and forth, and was picking up the fifth when she heard footsteps approaching from behind.

-------
http://magicbeanssims.com/contest/hp/VOWoods2.jpg
"It's not safe out here alone. I'll be heading back to camp...and I suggest you do the same."
I stood still, numb from the kiss, my daggers having dropped to the ground. The way that he spoke...I hadn't felt anything like this in so long. Not since..Saxton.
"Stop." I said, my eyes on the ground. Orehael stopped and turned his attention back to me. My eyes met his, and hopefully said everything I was struggling to say. "Please stop." We stood looking at each other for a moment before I finally decided that there were no words for what I was feeling. I simply...sat down.
Orehael was immediately by my side. "Are you okay my love? Is it your head?" He started to inspect my injury, but I stopped him by grabbing his hands.
"No, my head is fine." We sat facing each other, our hands held tightly together. I couldn't look at him, knowing that doing so would raise emotions that I had worked hard at suppressing. "We're all being killed off one by one Orehael. One of us...we might..."
He put his finger under my chin, forcing me to make eye contact with him. "No harm will come to you. I will protect you."
"And I will protect you Orehael."
A little voice nagged at me, telling me to be careful...to slow down. I had only known this man for a short time, yet I knew that I loved him. But that voice kept reminding me that he could be the murderous traitor. I closed my eyes tightly, trying to push the thought from my head. Not Orehael. It just couldn't be.
My eyes and his locked together, I reached up with my hand and pulled the lace from my shirt free.
(Keeping it PG13...) Some time later...
I could hear his heart racing as I lay my head on his chest. In his arms, everything else seemed to fade away. The sacrifices. The murders. This infernal (sorry Infernal) ring that we carried with us and the powers it seemed to have over us. Even Saxton, faded from my mind. All that my world held at this moment, was the feel of his skin and the sound of his gentle breathing.

Algernon lay in the tent, naked, and continuously bleeding. His healing potions couldn't handle this stress as it was. Slowly, his soul slipped away, drifting, floating, out of the tent.
As he body began to limp over, Raltz flew in, squalling the heavens out. In his hands, clutched a piece of parchment.
My dear friends,
Should I die, Ive ordered my falcon to send you this message. Please, I ask for you to leave me in rest, but do me one last favor. I ask for my body to be carried back to Lethys, where I may be put to rest among the flower fields. Life's journey, though thousands of years, and eons ago, must end at one point. I leave hearby all my weapons, including the enchanted bow and the various healing and magical potions, to my friend Lynnia, and any of those who've helped me. She will give out what she finds necessary, I have faith.
~Algernon
Lynnia finished reading the parchment, and looked at Elroen. He'd helped Algernon in his need, and deserved it as so.
-------
The Spirit of Algernon approached the front of the great tree, in the valley of the grand battle he fought in. He saw his ten thousand soldiers, he saw his friends, he saw his assistants, his officers, his entire family, and he saw the higher beings.
Algernon could see the entire world at once. From the firey pits of Magrador, to to flower fields of Lethys.
"We've been waiting for you, Son of Lethys," spoke the higher beings, "We have much work for you to accomplish, even in your death, you will live eternally."
Algernon looked at his body. It was clad in a glorious, shining cloak, and he held a golden bow, with endless arrows. He approached the tree, and clung onto the sword he placed there. It glew with the light of a thousand suns, and gave off a glorious sound. Algernon looked up at the thousands of faces looking onto him, and felt himself floating.
He would live once again, amongst the higher planes of existance...

There was that uncomfortable silence that always follows an answer like that.
This girl sat down next to us. Still thinking of what Vasquez had said I tried to crack a smile as I looked over to her… “Hi… Kor… Korinne right?” Vasquez had gotten up to stretch her legs. She had invited us to stay at her site while she went for a walk.
“We’re just passing time” I said to Korinne. I know I hadn’t really gotten to know her so I figured now was as good a time as any.
“Where are you from?” I asked her.
“I’m from Noral and…” Just as I was finishing my sentence Nelinde sat down by us. She had such a gentle, genuine smile it made the mood over us lighten. "My, I feel so overwhelmed!" Nelinde had said. “I know,” I started to get excited… “This is fun… well not all of it,” I thought back to the ones who were killed and started to get sad... Quickly regaining my composure I finished “but the adventure. I’ve been to so many places and done so many different things from which I normally do.” “I love doing all of this but I understand the need to be you too.”
“How about you two?”
“Have you found any of this journey exhilarating… maybe a chance to be or act like someone else, out of character from the normal you?” “You see, I’m not usually this outgoing, normally I’d be sitting out in the forest somewhere… but there is the fear of being by myself lately.”

:jaw: Vasquez's last RP...wow! Ahem...so where to pick up, what to do...
-----
"Stop." That single word stopped me in my tracks, made me turn to face Vasquez. I had been heading back to camp knowing that if I were to stay, I may not be able to control myself. It was true--she drove me mad--and now she was asking me to stop, to stay. I looked at her and saw everything I was feeling reflected in her eyes. "Please stop." She said nothing more, and simply sat upon the ground.
Was she hurt? Was it her head? Could she not make it back to camp unaided? Panic rushed over me as I began to inspect her injury, hoping with all my heart that she was not gravely injured...and then she grabbed my hand. "No, my head is fine." I looked at her, her hand still tightly holding mine. I didn't understand what I saw in her eyes, was not sure what it meant. All I knew was that I wanted her...completely. She looked away before speaking again, voicing the worry both of us felt. One of us could die here...but I would not let it be her.
I told her I would protect her, and she vowed the same. I smiled faintly, wondering if it came across as forced as it was. She would try to protect me, but I feared that even she could not save me. Not if the others decided that it was I who would serve as a sacrifice. What could she do against the numbers of the companions? For that matter, what could I do? I knew I could do no more than she, but I would die trying. That was not something I wished for her to do if it were I to be sacrificed. I wanted only for her to live, for her to be happy..with or without me.
My eyes widened as I watched her pull the tie of her shirt loose. I sat, frozen, unsure of what to do next. My breathing was heavy as she reached towards me, pulling the mask from my face, exposing the skin beneath. It had been years since another had seen me...the whole me, the true me, the me beneath the mask. I had worn it since leaving Ereh...though actually I had not left. I had been cast out. One without control of magic is no Elf of Ereh, and so I had been banished in shame. It was that day that I first dawned my mask, hiding from who I was. And now...now I was hiding no more. Now I was loved and wanted...just as I was with nothing to prove. As she dropped the mask to the ground beside us I wrapped her in my arms and kissed her, long and deep.

OOC: Ahem, okay. I think that's okay for a PG-13 forum--nothing explicit. By the way Beans, love the picture and the avatar! I might update this with a picture in a few hours...or maybe just include one in my next RP. And next time these two will probably be leaving the forest--they really shouldn't be alone in the trees. Heh.
Also, wanted to say that I love the love story between Arion and Kheelan...and loved the Ariel music too...the sim in the video pic was gorgeous as well--very well made.

You guys everyone hasn't even voted yet, and they all have about 7 more hours left to vote. Don't be too convinced on who is going to be sacrificed. Infernal you can send me the way you want him to die and I will paste it in the sacrifice results if you even die.

well, 123, should, by some ungodly measure, people change their votes, and I actually live... I have an RP planned out for this, where he is dragged from the grave by one of the members (like via CPR, or other real ways, not magic). I'll still be able to work off it, and consider my Post an RP.
So, as of now, just consider it an RP post, and not "The End" :)

---- RP ----
As much as I hated the thought of leaving this tiny paradise we'd found, we both knew we couldn't stay there forever. We gathered our belongings and headed back out of the forest, hand in hand.
I didn't hear Madeline yelling until we had reached the dge of the forest.
"Help! Someone please help!"
I let go of Orehael's hand as I ran to her. Grabbing her shoulders, I tried to get her to focus enough to tell me what was happening.
"Please Vasquez...he's dying!" she said while pointing towards her tent. I ran to the tent and burst through the opening. My eyes quickly scanned the room for the dying person. Elrohen was standing to the side while Layre was knelt over a body. I stepped forward only to recognize the body that lay before me.
Algernon.
For a fleeting moment, I considered turning around and walking away. This man wished to see me dead, and there was no love loss between us. The thought quickly vanished as I rushed to his side. "Move!" I said to Layre.
She jumped to her feet, certainly shocked to see me there. "But...I've already healed him. There is nothing more to do."
"Hogwash." I grabbed the nearest bit of clothing and threw it over him. I may be saving his life, but I didn't wish to see more of him than his dignity would allow. Standing over him with one leg on each side, I reached down and lifted him by the pelvis, making sure he was in the proper position for what I was about to do. Having him settled back in place, I lowered myself to my knees, making sure he was still covered. I formed a ball with my hands and lifted them over my head.
"STOP!" Layre yelled, finding a voice that I wasn't sure she had. "What are you doing?!"
"Breaking a rib or two." I said as I slammed my fist down to his chest. I lowered my ear to his mouth, waiting for the sign of a breath. Nothing. Resting my right hand on top of my left, I began pushing on his chest - his ribs cracking underneath the pressure.
Just as I was lifting my fists up to pound him again, his eyelids twitched. Putting my ear back down to his mouth, I listened again for the signs of life.
Breath. He was alive.
I stood up and looked at Algernon. He was severely injured, and now suffered some broken ribs. But he was alive.
A voice yelled at me inside my head. What had I just done? Saved him only to sacrifice him again? I was angry at myself for saving this man. Before they could say anything to me, I left the tent.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amethyst cautiously ventured forward to the fountain, her eyes shut in the preparedness of something awful. When she opened them..... she saw nightmarish creatures, slashing swords and battle axes, swinging ferocious looking weapons that probably didn't have a translation. She closed her eyes but the visions wouldn't go away. Amethyst didn't realize it, but she was going into a state of shock, causing her to pass out on the cracked cobblestone beneath her feet.
As she opened her eyes some time later, Amethyst found that she is in the same spot she was when she fell. She rubbed her temples, trying to remove the hammering sensation coming from them. She heard voices, murky at first but getting clearer every second.
"Do you know what she saw?" Calliope asked Idril.
"She saw the Magrodors of Hinith. They are coming closer and closer. You cannot run forever. They will find you. They are hunting for The Ring and they know that you have it. In two days, the Magrodors will find you and your companions." Amethyst shuddered at the thought of Magrodors.
"How do you know this? What can we do?"
Amethyst was still a little disoriented from her collapse. "Who is that? Who.... oh, Durin." She suddenly remembered and stopped the thought process in that respect. Amethyst closed her eyes again and drifted off into a half-sleep, barely hearing Idril mention that a strange pebble needed to be found in order to prevent the Magrodors from finding them. She opened her eyes when Calliope began to prod her awake. Idril was nowhere to be found.
"Come on, we need to get back to camp!"
"Oh, right..." Amethyst followed Durin and Calliope as best she could, stumbling over roots and odd rocks in the process. When they arrived at camp, Dex was dead. Amethyst shut her eyes and turned away. Those cold, lifeless eyes... or rather, the darkness that replaced them, pierced a hole in her. She had to turn away. A tear dropped from her eye and landed in the soft earth below.
Calliope wasted no time broadcasting about the fountain, making all aware of the danger that the approaching Magrodors posed. Immediately, a fierce search was ensued to find the pebble. It turns out that Madeline, one who had barely escaped with her life in the first sacrifice, had found the stone after bathing. It was, needless to say, embarassing to see her run into the camp holding the stone, half naked. Amethyst let a wry smile cross her lips. She felt like an outsider here.
After the stone had been placed in the fountain, security for those next few days had been partially assured. Amethyst was confused. How could people so hateful and so full of wrath turn and love a person whom they had just as assumed was the enemy? She sighed and turned to go to her tent.
Once inside, she pulled out a bottle containing a strage, red liquid, which she poured into a cup. She then took a bottle of the Atlantian spirits, and poured some of the clear-blue liquid into the cup. Amethyst drank the mixture, allowing the cooling sensation to spread across her body and up into her temples, which relieved her of her dreadful headache. Amethyst went out to the stream that was a few yards away from the camp and washed out her cup. She saw Algernon ride away on his horse, and Vasquez avidly chatting with other members of the camp. Sighing yet again, she turned and headed back toward her tent.
Amethyst took a towel and slowly dried out the crystal goblet, her mind racing. "What should I do know? I could go back... no, NO! That would be a mistake. Leaving these people here, not like I'm much help but.... I should still try... your family needs you... I should go back, I should go back..." The sound of the goblet falling to the ground and shattering into a million pieces brought Amethyst into the real world. Cursing under her breath, she coaxed the shards back into their shape of the goblet. She wrapped it in the towel and set it into her trunk, closing the lid.
Amethyst set out, most importantly to find a suitable piece of granite to use as a headstone for Dex's grave, but also to find some piece and quiet. It had been about 3 in the morning when Vasquez had refused to dig his grave. As it turns out, Dex was a member of the Third Force, that small group who had been stealing food and giving it to others. Small quarrels had escelated into arguements about who killed Dex and whatnot, which was distracting to say the least. Leaving all of that beind, Amethyst wandered in the forest. She suddenly came to the bottom of a huge waterfall, perhaps 400 feet high. She shuddered as the cold, night breeze blew through her fine silk gown. She found a suitable ledge of flat granite and climbed up. Charming the green-gold granite, she released a piece suitable for a headstone. 'Dex' she wrote with her finger, tracing an elegant pattern beneath the word. "No one will ever forget you now..."
Abruptly, Amethyst got up. She put the large stone in her bag, making her lean ungangly to one side. She heard the faint music of a violin and a soft voice, and nearer the sound of a harp being stroked to life, bringing its heavenly chorus to float across the forest. She walked downstream from the campsite, listening to the music of the birds, even in night they were active! She followed a tributary until it curved around back by the campsite. She found a log and sat down, pulling her knees to her chest. She let the tears fall now, as no one was there to see her cry....
Or, so she thought. A rustling sound behind her cause her to whirl around.
"How are you feeling?"
"Oh, um, hi Haydar." Amethyst muttered, embarassed at her fear. "I guess I'm fine..."
"No, you're not. I can see it all over your face."
Amethyst began to cry again. "It's just that... everytime we stop somewhere... someone gets killed! And I don't want to be next.."
Haydar took her in his arms and hugged her close. Amethyst cried into his shoulder, thankful that someone was there for her, finally, since all of this had begun.
"Everything's going to be all-" Haydar was cut off by screams coming from a nearby village.
"Oh my God..." Amethyst let her jaw drop at the sheer amount of fire and screams eminating from the village.
"Let's get back to the camp!" Haydar ushered Amethyst along. She grabbed her bag and ran with him back to the village. They arrived in time to see Lynnia, Algernon, and Elroen dash into the woods.
"Haydar, I.. . um, would you care to lay this plaque with me?"
"Amethyst, this really isn't the time for..."
"It may not be, but Dex deserves it... we ow it to him to give him one last ounce of dignity."
"Well... ok." Together, for a third time (assuming they were together when Mell's plaque was laid), they laid down a gravestone. Amethyst again charmed this one to reflect the sunlight and never get dull. Firey explosions from the small Clo village hastened Amethyst to a decision, one that could change the battle... if she timed it right. Haydar hesitated in the camp, stopping Vasquez from rushing off to battle like a fool. Amethyst grabbed his arm.
"Haydar, come quickly"
"What? Where to?"
"Just come on!" Amethyst quickly dragged him to her tent.
"Wait, don't you think that we need to know each other better before..."
"Oh shut up!!" Amethyst rolled her eyes and began to rummage through her trunk. She carefully came up with a large blue gem/mirror, a vial of clear liquid, the empty crystal goblet, and a large, tattered book.
"What are those for?"
"To help the battle. Come on." She led Haydar by the sleeve out to the stream, where she took the goblet and dunked it in the slowly flowing water. She took it out seconds later, dripping and full of slightly blue water.
"Don't you have water already?" Haydar asked, motioning toward the vial.
"That's not water, it's a spell."
"Huh?"
"Just watch and learn." Amethyst, as an apprentice jewler, had to learn healing to help herself, but also an advanced form of Atlantian sorcery. The Atlantians had mastered the art of charmed gems, and also the art of controlling water. She set up her mirror on a large, flat rock, setting the mirror on a stone to produce an angle. She rotated the mirror so that it would broadcast the spell over the small village. "Hand me the book." Haydar proceeded to gingerly hand Amethyst the large tattered book. "It's a relic. From Atlantis."
"Wow. Really old then, huh? I mean the book..."
"Yes, the book. Thousands of years, if not more." She smiled before quickly returning to her work. The screams eminating from the camp compelled her to hurry on with her work. She read the page, then proceeded to follow it's instructions. Haydar leaned over her shoulder.
"Is that written in Atlantian?"
"Naturally. It took me years but I finally learned how to read the language."
"Wow."
"Yeah. I could teach you if you like..."
"Um, well..."
Amethyst didn't give him a chance to respond. She charmed the large stone to have a basin just in front of the mirror. She then poured the stream water into bowl, and added the clear liquid. Faint words escaped from the bottle when the cork was pulled. Amethyst then closed her eyes and placed her fingertips in the water, and recited a spell. With every word spoken in the dead language, clouds gathered over the village. She suddenly opened her eyes and splashed the water onto the mirror. It didn't drain off, but was rather soaked into the reflection of the clouds. A bright blue light flashed in the mirror. Then the whole area of the forest was lit with the same un-natural blue light, indicating that the spell had worked. Amethyst smiled as she heard the sound of rain and smelled the scent of life being given back in the village.
"What did you do?"
"I saved our fighters."
Amethyst quickly packed up her things and ran back to her tent. Haydar followed on his own accord this time, but was still keeping pace with Amethyst. Upon arriving, she placed all of the items back into their respective spots in the trunk. She sighed with contentment at the fact that the village had been saved, and no one but Haydar knew she had done it. Her momentarily happy mood was disrupted when the familiar sound of a troll approaching reached her ears.
"Haydar, get down!"
"Wha-?"
"Just get down!!" Amethyst pulled him down and quickly recited a spell in latin, protecting her tent. She heard the troll pass by and goblins come crashing into another tent. Madeline screamed. "Oh, good Lord!" Amethyst hastily got up and rushed outside. Madeline had already slain the few goblins who attacked her. Vile, filthy creatures. Amethyst waved a finger and said a few undiscernable words and the bodies disappeared.
Haydar emerged from the tent. "What happened?"
"Goblins. And a troll. I have no idea where they came from."
Madeline grabbed a dagger or sword -Amethyst couldn't tell which- and ran off to join the fight.
Amethyst turned back to her tent. She felt an emptiness, a coldness. It was creeping from the camp to the battlefield in a grotesque way, smothering all in it's path with an inky shadow.
"Uh... Amethyst? What was that?"
"I'm not sure...." She bit her lip. The presence had only confirmend her fears; that another member of their small group had -or soon would- perish.
"Are you ok?"
"I'll be fine." She smiled, "I suggest you get some sleep. Tomorrow we travel again."
"Where do you suggest we go?"
"Liff. Nice, cooler climate down there and lots of mountains. Pleasant place for hiding a palace, wouldn't you say?"
Haydar grinned slightly and ventured back to his tent. Amethyst was just about to go back into her tent when Algernon was being carried back by Elroen. Amethyst started to cry again, wishing her pain would end. This adventure had put such a strain on her.... She turned and went back into her tent so that no-one would see her cry....
She awoke the next morning, of which the night's adventures had robbed her 4 hours of sleep, to find a general depression had set over the encampment. Algernon had been slipping away ever so slowly, and while his wound was not deep, it was his soul that had let go of this present time. Amethyst hugged herself, if only to keep the morning chill from reaching her bones. Food pack in hand, she sat down by the re-built fire, and began to contemplate the future... her future... her own time. This wasn't her time... not to die, not to live. She belonged where she had come from.... a time when this time was ancient history.
"Mind if I join you?" A young girl, who was called Miora, had asked.
"Oh, no, that's fine." Amethyst smiled and motioned the girl to sit. As she stared at the few people at the campfire and the larger group huddled around Algernon's tent, she thought to herself "Why do any of us deserve this? Why?..."
Then in the blurriness, he saw faces... familiar, and recent... his chest stung with pain... with a bloody finger he pointed to what he thought was his bag..
When we came to the opening where our camp was, Vasquez was hurried away to a nearby tent. It seemed someone was dieing. I followed after her, pulling back the flap of the tent and glancing inside. I wanted to make sure this wasn't some sort of trap. I raised my brows at the sight before me--a naked Algernon laid dieing. I watched as Vasquez covered the poor man and tried to make him breathe. Satisfied that she was in no danger, I turned from the tent and looked around the camp, trying to see who was and who was not present.
I saw Silas and Kith huddled together talking of something. I had never formally met either them, though Silas seemed much like myself. Quiet and mostly lonely. Kith seemed like a carefree boy, and I thought they may be an interesting pair to speak with a while. I walked towards them, and a frown overtook my face as I saw the ring in Kith's hand. Silas looked concerned, perhaps frightened, as he should be. Surely Silas had read the lettering on the ring, and being an Elf he would know the message the ring bore.
"That's a dangerous piece of jewelry you have there Kith. I would suggest you keep it out of sight. There is at least one traitor among us, and I fear he desires that ring. Better not to make yourself a target by flashing it around."
Kith looked at me, his eyes wide. Silas just nodded and replied, "Something is not right about that ring."
He could not get the feeling the ring had left him with out of his head - he was shivering slightly, his skin crawled, his heart beat faster. Silas shuddered and rubbed his arms. He never wanted to touch the thing again. "It needs to be destroyed," he breathed. "As soon as possible... Lord knows what the traitors will do with it." He paused, licked his lips, leaned in closer so that only Orehael and Kith could hear. "Who knows you have it? Do they all know?" He could not vouch for the others - until Kith had shown him, he did not know who was in possession of it. If they were the only ones, then he decided that they needed to keep it between them - he had a feeling he could trust them.
I had stormed out of Madeline's tent just after bringing Algernon back from the brink of death. Why had I done that? Why couldn't I just leave him as he was? To kill someone is one thing. To bring them back just so we can sacrifice him is another.
As I walked across the camp, I noticed Kith, Silas and Orehael all huddled together. Whatever they were talking about, it looked serious. As I walked over to the tree, I got a closer look at Silas. Why did he look so scared?
"Hey. What are you all doing over here?" My eyes caught a glimpse of something gold as they all jumped from being startled. "What is that?"
I was at a loss. I had just reread Algernon's note for perhaps the 50th time and it still wasn't sinking in. I couldn't, wouldn't believe that Algernon would die. I'd stayed far enough away not to hinder Layre, or later on Vasquez, as they did their best to save him.
Please don't let him die, I prayed to whomever I thought would listen.
A soft voice broke into my prayers.
"Are you injured also?" I looked up into Layre's concerned and sympathetic face.
"It's just a scratch," I said.
"I'd still like to look at it." I glanced back at the tent in which Algernon fought for his life.
"Live please," I whispered then allowed Layre to treat my wound.
Sacrifice Day 3 Results
Death is one of the deadliest cities to travel to, hence the name. This was a very poor choice and the companions regret it. This city is not large, but it is pretty modernized compared to previous cities. It has brick homes, castles, dirt roads, and shoppes. Over 80% of the population is homeless, while the royal family and other rich families live comfortably in their large estates. The streets are filled with beggars and violent citizens.
Does Death contain the Hidden Palace??
Death does not contain the Hidden Palace. The companions decided to kill the dead weight….
Lessien Oronra, Eleniel Aelorothi, and Dimple Ricks were all slaughtered to death by every single companion. ALL THREE of them were innocent companions though.
Execution Day 3
Traitors are the ONLY ones to vote for executions. They will do this secretly so you will not know who is going to die. Traitors please PM me your vote on who to die/execute. Do not post your vote in here, because you will reveal your role.
The Companions
Execute:
In 24 hours you will need to make a decision. I will post the results of who has been executed afterwards.
As the companions make their way into the city an ugly old thing walks up to them. She has a disgusting looking rash all over her face. She seems to have 2 black-eyes, or maybe they are just bags from old age? One of her eyes is a deep onyx color, while the other is a lighter hazel. Myrra notices that she is wearing a beautiful diamond necklace around her neck. She probably either stole it or it's fake.
Old Woman: Do you have any food I can have?
Nobody knows what to say to her. So far it seems that Death is not a good area.
Myrra/XsnowdropX, Orehael Ahlius/alexisaiger and Lynnia Renauld/zeldap please make the decision to either give the old woman food or to walk away. Please talk to your companions before you make your final decision. Note: People chosen for the bonus round are picked at random
Please copy and paste one of the following when you are ready to make your decision:
Give Her food or Walk away:
You have 24 hours to vote. And only the randomly picked three people that were mentioned can vote.
I'm inclined to give her food. Poor old lady. Plus I'm reminded of "Beauty and the Beast"...and we all know he turned her away and got turned into a beast. Perhaps it's a test and if we help her, she'll help us.
123321, do we know how much food she will take? And will that come from each of us or only those of us who are voting?
Kheelan was at peace when he heard Arion's song "That was so beautiful, never forget to be happy Arion" Another intense emotion was building up inside Kheelan it was a wave of complete happiness aswell as a glow inside as Arion responded to his kiss "she loves me" he thought to himself his thought being noticed a smile spread from cheek to cheek on Arion's face "I too love you Kheelan" "You do?" Arion nodded as Kheelan gave her yet another very passionate but yet tender kiss "We will make it through somehow or another, even if someone does betray us we will have each other my love, even in spirit I will be here beside you" " "Please don't talk like that" "Hush now, remember what I said and I thankyou from the bottom of my heart for loving me" as he whispered to her as their newly found love had lead to another yet more extended flaming kiss.
"It needs to be destroyed," Silas said, "As soon as possible...Lord knows what the traitors will do with it." My brows furrowed and I nodded slowly as Silas continued, "Who knows you have it? Do they all know?"
Kith's eyes widened, and I wondered if he were fearful or merely surprised by the gravity of the situation he had found himself in. He hurriedly thrust his hand into the pocket of his pants, hiding the ring from view. Quickly then he took his hand back out of his pocket, empty now of the golden ring. He opened his mouth to speak, but was interrupted by Vasquez.
"Hey. What are you all doing over here?" Her words startled us all. "What is that?"
The color drained from my face and I shot Silas and Kith a look of warning before turning to face Vasquez, a smile upon my lips. I knew she could be trusted, of that there was no doubt, but I did not wish to involve her in this. Any knowledge of the rings whereabouts put one in danger, a target for a traitor looking for information. I did not care to risk that.
"It is nothing Mi'Lady. A mere trinket Kith found while in the woods. It looks gold, but Kith says it is only metal." I was disturbed at how easily the lie flowed from my mouth. I was not one to be dishonest, but I saw no other way to protect her, and it seemed anything was easy if it meant protecting my love. "Now, I believe the others are readying to move on to our next destination. May I help you pack your things?" With that I went to Vasquez and put my hand on the small of her back, leading her away from Silas and Kith. I looked over my shoulder at them as I walked away, nodding my goodbye. A look of understanding passed between us--possession of the ring needed to be kept quiet.
We set out for Death, a foreboding name to be sure. When we reached the modernized town it was immediately apparent that we had made the wrong choice. Most of the city's inhabitants were homeless and poor, struggling to feed themselves. I was towards the back of the group, walking with Lynnia and Myrra when a beggar approached us. She looked terrible--a rash covered her face and her eyes were sunken in with heavy black bags beneath them. She asked for food, yet around her neck she wore a diamond necklace. A fake perhaps? Or stolen? Either way I could not see refusing this woman her request. She was obviously in need of food much more than we...
XsnowdropX
13th May 2007, 06:46 AM
Myrra turned to see who was approaching her, it was Kith. "Yes?" She asked.
After a moment of staring at her, possibly questioning why she was sitting waist deep in the stream, Kith said, "Uhh..well...we're about to leave. Just thought I'd let you know since, you didnt seem to know." He shrugged, and turned to walk away. Myrra sighed irratibly, she can barely walk right now and they choose now to begin the journey to another city? How much worse can her luck get...
Groaning, Myrra latched onto a nearby tree branch dangling just above the stream and hoisted herself back to her feet. Her clothing from her waist down was all soaking wet. Sighing, Myrra figured they would dry quickly in the hot weather and went to pack her stuff.
The city of Death seemed to be just as horrible as it sounded. The poor and homeless littered the streets, crime seemed to rage everywhere. How that palace can be in a place like this is beyond me, Myrra mused, she knew from the start not to even bother with this place. She was walking near the back with Orehael and Lynnia, her hand on Orehael's shoulder for support for her leg was still paining her, since shes been to stubborn too admit to herself that she needed help and to ask for it.
The three of them saw the begger at the same time. She had a horribly rashed face, and seemed very poor except....Myrra's eyes narrowed as they fell on the expensive looking necklace she wore. She nudged Orehael, and gestured toward it with her eyes.
"Do you have any food I can have?" She asked. They stood there, not sure what to say. The woman did seem to need food, but still Myrra wasnt sure what to do.
Yeah I dunno yet. Ill decide later though. Its like 2 here I should probably get to bed.
Well. I can't RP til morning, but...Amethyst and Myrra have not managed to get themselves on Vasquez's good side. She's already cranky enough to be back in Death again (where she was born and her family was slaughtered). I'd sleep with one eye open for a while. :giggler:
Infernal: Congrats. You're invincible, aren't you? :lol:
My opinon on the food is to give it to the old woman, for much the same reason as Alexis mentioned. This is too reminiscent of Beauty and the Beast. Maybe that necklace will be a gift to us, and we can buy more food? Or it'll have a hint as to the palaces location or something?
-----------------------------------------------------------------
As Layre finished cleansing and binding my wound it was decided that we would sacrifice the ones who wouldn't vote. The dead weight, so to speak. Barbaric, admittedly, but our recent battle with the Goblins had changed my outlook. This was a serious undertaking. Choices, right or wrong had to be made. Sacrifices also had to be made. It was unfortunate that Lessien, Eleniel, and Dimple were the ones who went this time, and even more unfortunate that they were innocent, but I forced away my guilty feelings. Later, if I lived through this mission, I would cry and weep and beg forgivess of the ghosts that would haunt me forever. All I could do now was survive.
After the deed was done, I went to see Algernon. I entered the tent and sat next to him. He looked pale and not too far away from death. I brushed a stray lock of hair off his forehead. His skin was clammy and cool to the touch. As I sat there, he gave a shuddering breath, then his chest failed to rise.
Oh Gods, no. I shook his shoulder.
"Algernon," I cried. "Wake up, please. Don't leave us now. We need you. I need you." My pleas fell on deaf ears. He was gone. I lowered my head and wept for him as I could not weep for the others.
The Spirit of Algernon approached the front of the great tree, in the valley of the grand battle he fought in. He saw his ten thousand soldiers, he saw his friends, he saw his assistants, his officers, his entire family, and he saw the higher beings.
Algernon could see the entire world at once. From the firey pits of Magrador, to to flower fields of Lethys. A voice called out, "It is not yet your time Son of Lethys."
As he slowly opened his eyes, Algernon heard weeping. He saw Lynnia sitting there. Is she crying for me, he thought and in the deepest, lonliest part of him, he was touched. It had been a long time since anyone had cared about him like that, and even longer since he'd let anyone in. He reached out a hand and touched her gently.
I was preparing myself to go out and tell the others that Algernon was dead when I felt a light touch on my hair. I looked up.
"Don't cry Lynnia, I'm not worth your tears." I stared at him, wanting to believe, but scared to.
"Algernon," I whispered. "Are you really alive, or simply a dead man's shade come to haunt me?"
"I live still."
"But how? You weren't breathing. You were dead. Is this more of your magic?"
"I can't explain what has happened, but the power to return from the dead is not a magic I possess. Only a higher being could have returned me." He frowned. Could her grief over my passing have pulled me back, he wondered.
"Where's my bag?" I rummaged around til I found it. I handed it to him and watched as he removed a bottle. He struggled to sit up. I helped him and he uncorked the bottle and drank the contents.
'Will that help you heal faster," I asked. He nodded then yawned. I gently helped him lay back down and covered him with a blanket.
"Will you stay," he asked.
"Of course, if you want me to." There was silence for a moment.
"What of the sacrifice. Was I brought back on to be killed again?" I shook my head no. I didn't know a hard look had entered my eyes. Algernon frowned again.
I know that look. It's one I've often worn. The one that says you've accepted killing, accepted that your choices will take lives guilty and innocent alike. I understand that look, but I would never have wished you to wear it Lynnia, or understand the pain and guilt it brings.
"You were spared in order to take care of some more pressing business. Lessien, Eleniel, and Dimple were the vitims this time. They were innocent and we slaughtered them anyway."
"Lynnia," he started.
"No, not now Algernon. Later perhaps, when you are fully healed we can talk of it, but for now I won't"
Algernon didn't press the point. She was right. Later on they could talk, and maybe he could help her accept the new part of her. Feeling safe for the moment, he closed his eyes and drifted off into a healing sleep.
Kith has more food than any of us even started with! And Vasquez has the same amount that we all started with. Those numbers are MUCH higher. This certainly may help us out if we choose to help the beggar. Of course, not everyone's food levels are so high so we need to think of them too. Caara, for example, only has +5. If the beggar takes more than that from each of us if we accept, we run the risk of losing someone to starvation... :blink:
Silas left Kith with a reassuring nod in his direction, returning to his violin and packing it away gently. They were moving soon - he was relieved of it, as he was not comfortable in high humidity environments. He had grown up in a colder region, after all. Perhaps Death would be better?
He opened his pack to find that, even though he had eaten some earlier, he had the same amount of food as he had had when they had arrived at Clo. The companions were moving; he had no time to think on it now. He grabbed a piece fo bread from his pack and closed it, slung it over his shoulder and walked with the bread in one hand and his violin case in the other, nibbling on the food as they walked.
Perhaps he shouldn't have had higher hopes for Death... from what they saw as they passed through the streets, two things ran through Silas's head: first, he would not be shopping through the streets without a weapon of some sort in his hand, and second, he had a feeling he would not be able to sleep that night out of fear of robbers. It seemed that Death was NOT a good choice after all...
They were in the streets when an old beggar came up to them, asking for food. Silas immediately felt pity for the hag, despite her deformed appearance - he immediately set his violin on the ground in front of his feet and pulled out his bag. "How much do you need, old woman?" He turned to Orehael, the only of the three she had approached that he had come into contact with. "Please tell me we are giving her something," he said.
"I will," Orehael told him. "But I think she will be getting it from us all, and Caara is almost out."
Silas turned to look at the woman and shrugged. "The positives could outweigh the negatives here. What would have happened if we had taken in Elendil?"
123321 - Yeah, I was wondering about food too... Durin has a nice amount, not a whole lot but more than most (People either really like him, or want him to look suspicious! :lol:!), so if he could donate to pople like Caara and Korinne, that would be nice!
People doing the 'Old Creepy Woman' task (Heh heh) - It would be nice to give her food, as I think it would look terribly on us if we didn't give. But then again, if she takes most of our food... And who knows if we'll ever meet up with Elendil again? I don't know - I live in Brooklyn and travel through Manhatten every day, so I see people who are homeless on a regular basis. And you always want to help, but you can't always give. :( I don't know. I'm just glad I'm not in this decision...
EDIT: Oh my gish, how could I have forgotten to mention this - Oh my word, three dead! Eek, this is scary... I know it was for innactivity, but still... Yeesh! Aw, Durin's going to be heartbroken about Eleniel... (He's a sleeze with a capital Z, and he feels awful!)
"May I help you pack your things?" I couldn't help but think that Orehael was hiding something as he ushered me away from Kith and Silas. As we gathered my belongings and packed them away, he spoke not a word. What was weighing on his mind so heavily tonight?
The trip to Death was grueling. I couldn't help but wonder, as we dragged ourselves to yet another city, if anyone here knew what Death was really like...knew what they were getting themselves into. Why had I voted to head here? What part of me wanted to come back to this?
Orehael and I had agreed that we would split up for the journey - me at the front, and him falling back. It was the best way to assure that we didn't lose another companion during our trip. As I looked back over my shoulder, more to catch a glimpse of him than anything else, I noticed Myrra, leaning on Orehael's shoulder. Why did it anger me so to see him with her? I'm confident that he loves me. He proved that to me in the forest.
We continued to walk along, passing abandoned dwellings on the way. My eyes locked onto a small tan dwelling at the end of the strip. As we passed it by, my mind fell back to that day...the day that I first felt a knife in my hand. Before my eyes, a young girl escaped the abandoned house, her sister in tow.
The voice of the beggar snapped me from my thoughts. Silas and Orehael stood talking to her, possibly considering giving this woman some food. I looked around at the other companions - considering whether or not helping this woman would be wise. I had earlier found my food bag to be overflowing. I wondered, did Calliope really return my food - and more? I knew I could certainly afford to help the poor woman out, but what of the others? I had noticed Caara digging through her bag, obviously very low on food.
I should have known that it would come to this, but even I was surprised when the eyes all fell on me for an answer. "I...I don't know."
"But you're from here" someone yelled out. "Do we help her, or not?"
I took a step back, not wanting to be the one to decide if Caara, or the beggar woman for that matter, lives or dies.
I looked over at Orehael, who also waited on my answer. I knew what it was like to be homeless and starving, and I know that I would not still be alive if not for the generosity of others. Helping her is the right thing to do, but at what cost to others?
I reached into my bag and pulled out a loaf of bread and an apple, then walked over to Caara. "Eat something...before you pass out. I'm not in the mood to have to carry anyone around today."
I looked up at the eyes of my fellow companions, and answered them. "Give the beggar woman some food."
OOC: Okay, according to my clock it is past the 12 hour requirement for my vote, so here goes. I do hope some food can be shared amongst ourselves to help with Caara's situation though...
-------
"The positives could outweigh the negatives here. What would have happened if we had taken in Elendil?" Silas spoke. I knew he was right, but still it seemed wrong to risk the life of one of our own. On the other hand, I didn't know much about Caara, about whether or not she were traitor. I sighed and looked to Vasquez. She had told me she had been born in Death and I didn't get the feeling that this place held happy memories for her. Perhaps she was once one of these beggars that filled the streets.
"Give the beggar woman some food." Vasquez said after handing some bread and an apple to Caara. Perhaps we could spare Caara from whatever fate may befall her if we shared our food with her. Then we could also make the right decision in regards to the beggar. I nodded at Vasquez, my eyes searching hers trying to figure out the cause of the pain I saw in them.
Turning back to the beggar woman I smiled softly. "I am certain that among us we have enough food to help quell your hunger."
I saw a look of approval on the faces of Silas and Vasquez, but there were others who did not seem happy about my decision--Algernon and Layre among them.
Calliope mentioned that Dex was giving her food, but Vasquez had some food stolen. So naturally, she assumes that Dex stole hers and gave it to Calliope. ;)
For everyone: I'll be at the showing today, and the funeral tomorrow. I'll do my best to keep the list updated in between, but please be patient if I fall a little behind (like now, as I really should be in the shower lol).
"That's a dangerous piece of jewelry you have there Kith. I would suggest you keep it out of sight. There is at least one traitor among us, and I fear he desires that ring. Better not to make yourself a target by flashing it around."
It took a few moments for Orehael's words to impact Kith. Dangerous jewellery...? His eyes glanced back at the ring. It looked just like an ordinary ring. It certainly wasn't magic, he knew that much. But, as for the traitor who was after it? And how far would they go to get it? He shuddered. He was in deep water, and he wasn't sure if he could swim. Silas and Orehael were still talking, but Kith was too lost in thought. He picked up the word "destroy". Sounds like a good idea, he told himself.
"Who knows you have it? Do they all know?" The question brought Kith back to reality. Had anyone else seen him with it? He couldn't remember. Anyone could have been watching him. They could even be right now. He hastily slipped the ring back into his pocket, and as he was doing so, heard a new voice come into the conversation. His eyes shot up to identify the newcomer. Thankfully, it was only Vasquez. He let out a sigh of relief, but chose to remain silent in case he let something stupid slip out.
He was thankful when the group broke apart to collect their belongings, preparing for the journey to Death. Normally, he would have complained that they weren't going to Diamo, or remarked on how silly it was to call a place Death. But he felt unusually nervous right now. The ring in his pocket felt as if it was burning into his leg, but maybe it was just his mind playing tricks. Anyway, it was time to get going. There wasn't time to waste on illogical thoughts like that. He grabbed Pip's reins, and led him down to the river to drink.
Down by the river, he found Myrra, sitting in the river. Why'd she wanna go do that? Travelling in wet clothes is hell! He guessed that Myrra didn't know about the rest of the companions leaving. "Uhh... We're about to leave. Just thought I'd let you know, since you didnt seem to know." She nodded an acknowledgement, so Kith walked back to camp.
----------
A few hours later...
----------
Kith was amazed by the City of Death. As soon as they arrived, he was off tapping his feet on the stone roads. "Look! No dirt paths!" he called to the other companions. "Isn't this amazing? They have real roads and stonework and a Castle!" He noticed that Vasquez wasn't overly impressed. He also noticed that the streets were littered with rags. Dirty Death-ians. Do they not clean up after thems- Ah. The rags were not in fact rags. They were people, starving and emaciated, some of them only tiny children. A little boy reached out to him with a claw-like hand, his dark eyes wide with fear of death. So this is why they call it Death.. Kith was sure he could spare some food for this wee skeleton. He looked into his bag, and then nearly dropped it. He had such an abundace, it was more than he'd even started with. His mind flashed to the ring in his pocket, and back to his little magickery episode he'd had with it earlier. Had it really...?
The dead peoples' food are taken by the third force. The third force then decides who to distribute the food to. But remember, everyone got - 30 so far because you all picked 3 wrong cities, so it lowers the food amounts.
Our diminished group entered Death. What an apt name, I thought as I looked around in pity.
All around us are the wails of the those who have the misfortune to call this place home. The streets are filled with beggars in tattered clothing. Children followed us, crying out of hunger. I saw things that made me want to retch. In an alley a man knifed another then went through his pockets and left the body to rot where it fell. A woman, looking down at the infant in her arms, wrapping it tightly in rags and setting it gently on the ground, then walking away. I went over to the poor abandoned babe, only to discover it was already dead. I turned away in horror. I heard a growl and when I turned back, a starving cur had already claimed its prize. With tears running down my cheeks, I returned to my fellow travelers.
"Lynnia, what is wrong," Algernon asked.
"This place is what's wrong. We should never have come here." He nodded.
We traveled further into the city. I was with a small group that included Myrra and Orehael. We made small talk which ended as we were approached by an old woman. She was covered with an ugly rash and looked as if life had never been particularly kind to her.
"Do you have any food I can have," she asked the three of us. We looked at one another. I wanted to immediately give her food from my bag but held bag as Myrra said, "we should discuss this wth everyone first." That soundeed smart. To the old woman I said, "we'll be right with you." She gave no sign she'd heard or even understood me.
We rejoined the main group and explained the situation. Almost immediately the consenus was to give her food. Only Algernon and Layre seemed to feel it was a mistake.
"I don't trust her," he said then added, "but the choice belongs to the three of you as she only apporached you."
I knew that my stores were low, and I'd heard others saying they were even worse off than I was.
If there's going to be redemption for me somewhere for all the innocent blood that stains my hands, maybe this is it, I thought.
"I say we give her food," I stated. Algernon looked at me with an unfathomable look.
'Do you vote with your head, or your heart? Is guilt enough reason to risk all our lives," he asked me quietly. I stared at him in shock. It was as if he'd read my thoughts. But that was crazy, wasn't it?
"I've made my choice. If I'm wrong, I'll give you the rest of my food and will pay whatever price is demanded of me."
RP: The sky, Durin thought, reflected his mood. The vast gray sky, patched with some streaks of gray clouds, looked as if it was about to fall on top all of them. Brick buildings that were smudged with dirt lined the long streets. Beggars of all ages lined the buildings. Pedestrians walked with stiff shoulders and hunched backs. So, this is our fate. Helpless and alone in this sad city. Helplessly led by our grim instincts. Durin remembered the long and tiring trip from Clo to death. Randomly flirting with the unsuspecting to push away the dark mood that had kept him in his tent for days, he had felt a warm spirit in Eleniel, one that had not quite hated him. perhaps even liked him. She certainly had been kind to his moody come-ons. "Man, if I ever have seen hair as beautiful as yours..." And she wasn't even repulsed by me. How could I have been so stupid? I never learn. Maybe I don't want to. Have I got to?
Durin had hardly paid attention to the brutal murders of the night before. Was it he who had wrung their necks? Had he listened to their pleas? He remembered washing blood stained hands in the middle of the night, fervently trying to wash of its evil presence, but could not for his life remember what he had done to who to get it there. Who else feels this way? Are the slaughters we all committed on their minds as well? Durin leaned against a cool wall, breathing hard. Random flirting and several mishaps where a few Cloians had accepted his misguided attempts to make himself feels better, caused Durin to find himself in a situation where had needed to slip away. Before I lost something Mum told me is supposed to be kept until- (Durin blushed, and inwardly pulled himself away from the topic and the memories of the quite talk he had listened to, mortified, that his mother had given him on his 16th birthday, a year before he was run out of Mitheldor.) But along with all that, he also found his pick pocketing habits coming back, and the longing for the alluring mithril creeping back. One of these blasted ricchies, (Durin slipped back into the slang of his young teens) is bound to have some with them. Or maybe there’re some dwarves...
Durin reached into his bag for an apple in an attempt to keep his hands occupied. But he turned scarlet as he felt the weight of the bag. Was it possible that rather than losing food from their mistaken choice, he had been given more food? Peering in, he discovered that he had in fact almost as much food as he had started out with. What're they playing at? he though angrily. Gits, I don't want their suspicion. Durin realized what he was thinking. I mean, he reasoned, it's not that I'm not grateful. I don't want to starve. It's nice to know they're looking out for me. But please, thieves, I would rather starve then be murdered by my companions. Durin twirled the apple in his hand, wondering what to do with it. He saw Caara walking slowly away from Vasquez, the bread and apple clutched in her hand, dazedly. He slipped forward. "Here, love. I had an extra..." He looked into his back, and grabbed a pear. "I've got extra stuff. Come to me if you're hungry." He winked, and turned away quickly, striding toward Kith, who had a look on his face similar to the one he was sure he himself had had moments before. "I see I'm not the only one," he muttered.
Algernon appreciated how sweet Lynnia was to him. He leaned up, his torso bandaged, but not stinging. He felt a bit drugged out, but enough to stand up. He looked out of the window, and knew immediately his location.
Death was a horrid place, and one where Algernon was a wanted man. They aided the Cloians, and to this day, he is still wanted for war crimes. He backed away from the foul air, and the dreaded local. The building seemed empty, and only full of companions. He looked around, hoping to find someone.
"I see I'm not the only one" Kith heard a familiar voice. He looked up from his bulging bag of food, and saw Durin.
"It happened to you, too?" Kith asked, confused. But.. this is all the rings doing.. I asked it to make me rich, and it worked. Why has it affected you too? Kith nearly said this aloud, but remembered his earlier talk with Orehael and Silas. He wasn't to tell anyone, even if they were trusted. "I.. I think maybe.. This can't be real. It's not, there's no way.. absolutely no way." he frowned, his eyes shut. One hand went into his pocket. The ring was still there. This wasn't some crazy dream.
He realised the skeleton-boy was still clawing at the air for food, so took out some bread and handed it to the boy. Within seconds, the loaf had disappeared down the kid's throat.
And now, we are in Death.... Waaa, why did they bring me here? There's no Palace here. This is a total waste of my time and if I see a rat I am going to scream.
Calliope spots a rat ten feet away. She shrieks and jumps back, bumping Durin. He looks a bit annoyed as he looks to see who bumped him. Embarassed, she lowered her head and walked away. She walked to the edge of the crowd and surveyed the town. Hot, dirty, ugly place... I want to go back to the cave now. All those beggars eyeing me. I don't have any money! And my food... well, I need that. I need to get out of here. I need... someone to protect me. Calliope's eyes fell on Vasquez. No, not her. She doesn't seem to know who the traitors are. Dex wasn't a traitor, but she still decided to kill him. Unless... could Vasquez be a traitor?! She might be! But I don't know... She's always off doing something in the woods. Mighty suspicious if you ask me... I ought to keep my eye on her. But until then... who will protect me from her?
ooc: Calliope will share food if everyone else is doing it, but only with people who are very nice to her and give her compliments. That's just the kind of girl she is.
The scream was ear piercing. I watched as Calliope jumped backwards, knocking into Durin in the process. As she regained her footing, she also straightened her hair and smoothed her clothes out. Yeah Calliope, maybe nobody noticed. I looked down at the ground, trying to figure out what she was so scared of.
I couldn't help myself. While she was staring at me, my dagger pierced through the body of the rodent. Lifting it up, still impaled by the blade, I held it so that she could see it. "You're not scared of this, are you?"
Calliope screamed again, this time choosing to hide behind Durin. Why did I find so much pleasure in that? She seems harmless enough. Having discarded the rodent, I wiped my blade clean as I continued to watch Calliope. She doesn't seem the type to be out here - braving all of this. Why is she even here? Something about her is...
I shook the thought out of my head. I hate trying to figure out who the traitors are in our group. I hate thinking that one of us, is trying to kill us all off ... and succeeding.
I was so deep in thought - about the murders, about this journey we're on, about Calliope, about this city, and mostly about my family - that I didn't hear him come up behind me. When he touched my shoulder, I let out a loud gasp. I turned to see Orehael standing behind me.
He lowered his mouth to my ear, then softly spoke. "Stay with me tonight. In my tent."
Amethyst looked up at the large castles and semi-modern buildings that hovered over the streets of Death. She chided her companions privately for choosing the wrong city. Every time she had chosen a different one.... the Traitors were definately doing a good job of keeping everyone from the real city where the palace was hidden. The large groups' footsteps echoed through the deserted alley ways and passages, creating an eerie feeling.
Amethyst had chosen to walk by Miora and Haydar, with Durin not far ahead of them. Or sometimes behind them. As small as this group was, compared to other sizes and of course their size when they began, it was quite easy to lose people.
"I don't like this place." Miora took a slight step toward the middle of the group, so that there would be a large shield of people around her.
"I don't think anyone does..." Haydar commented.
"What I can't get is why so many chose to come here. The name should have been a clue to the fact that the city was dangerous."
"Maybe they thought it was a cover, perhaps a beautiful city with a deadly name?" Miora observed.
"Well, possibly, but Vasquez had advised many not to come here. After all, she did grow up surrounded by these walls..." Amethyst gazed up at the towering walls of the large stone manor homes that dwarfed the small almost-huts on the other side of the road. "It's just sooo... different.." Amethyst found herself saying out loud. She stopped herself and bit her lip.
"Different? What do you mean? It's been the same ever since it was built." Haydar had quickly pointed this out, causing Amethyst's fair complextion to turn red.
"Well... um..." Just as Amethyst was about to explain, an old woman approached the front of the group and asked for food. There was a hushed whisper going across the crowd shortly after this.
"What do you think her motive is?" Haydar asked.
"Well, obviously, she's hungry. And that's not really surprising, considering I haven't seen a market since we arrived." Miora pointed out.
"I recognize her." Amethyst said to herself, but Miora and Haydar overheard.
"You've been here before?"
"Well, not exactly....." A number of the other people in the group had started to lean in and listen to their conversation. Amethyst quieted her voice and whispered, "I'll tell you both later. Now is not the right time..." But then she thought to herself, "When is it really the time to tell anyone...."
Ive got a question
From Lethys, where can we go? There seems to be some land between Noral and Lethys.. I also seriously doubt the HP is in the larger lands
If you go to Lethys, you will be able to go to Tyra, Hinith, or Noral.
Algernon dodged his way back to camp. He hated Death.. he hated Death more than Death... then again, He didnt have a problem with Death... Death would set him free. But Death in Death was deathly enough to make Algernon Die.
He shook the thought off, and miandered around... hoping someone would talk to him, regardless of his hoarse voice.
Bonus Round
As the companions make their way through the streets of Death, they run into a province filled with violence, and one will end up being challenged to duel. Please everyone nominate one person to fight and one competitor to fight against that person (Umi, Jia or Lei).
If the nominated person wins the duel, then he or she will be given a prize. If he or she loses, then the ultimate sacrifice will be made. You can nominate yourself if you really want to compete, but make sure you're making the right choice.
Here are the competitors' bios:
http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/7007/hp2ut0.jpg
Watch out for typos lol
Basically, you will win if you make the right choice. Two competitors are very diffucult to fight, while one is very easy to fight. Do not base your vote on looks, study their profiles.
Vote for one Companion:
Vote for one Competitor:
:alarm: REMEMBER: Talk with others before you actually vote. If you vote right away, then you might just help back your fellow companion into a dead end. Everyone you have about a day to vote- maybe two, depending on how many people vote/ if some people need more time. However, you must vote AFTER 12 hours.
Jeez Infernal...your rp made me laugh for some reason:rofl:
Myrra groaned, looking at the stairs leading up to what will be her room in the inn. Hours straight of walking out of Clo and around Death did nothing to help her injured leg. And now.....stairs? Maybe I should ask Layre for help after all....She thought.
It was a bit slower than everyone else, but she made it to her room. Myrra simply dropped all her stuff on the floor, not even bothering to get herself organized, and cast a look around her room.
Myrra limped over to her bed. She was exhausted, it was sunset. The bed was musty and not too comfy, but it was a bed. After days of sleeping on the ground Myrra finally had a matress under her. She never thought she would miss furniter so much. She fell asleep in no time and didnt wake up until the following morning.
Somebody was shaking her. She smacked the hand away and rolled over. "Beat it Sarai", she moaned, half asleep. The shaking continued, "Umm....this is Moira...."
Myrra's eyes snapped open. Having just mistaken Moira for her sister, a wave of sadness overcame over. She rolled over and sat up. Moira stood before her, visibly worried. "You havent seen Arion have you. Nobody's seen her all day...we think...." Her voice trailed off, but Myrra knew what she meant. She became even more upset, is it possible for another person to be dead?
"No, Im sorry. Ive been sleeping pretty much since the moment we got here yesterday so..."
Moira nodded and left, and Myrra laid back down, staring at the ceiling. She's probably just wandering the city, she thought hopefully, before drifting back to sleep.
Last one for today. Its like 11 and Ive got school tomorrow. Oopsey:P
I was relieved when the majority of my companions agreed that sharing our food with the beggar woman was the best choice. Even those who were reluctant offered some of their bread or water, and the beggar was extremely happy for our generosity. She had been to the Kingdom that we sought, though she could no longer remember its exact location. Our generosity did help us to eliminate where the palace was not, however, and we now knew to mark Coron off our list of possible locations.
The beggar had taken a little food from each of us, but thanks to the thieves among us (who had taken the food from the dead and redistributed it among each of us), none starved. Even Caara, with very little food was spared thanks to their thievery--thieves like Dex who had been killed and nearly refused a burial. Ironic really, that it had been thieves that saved her for the time being. Still, her food was dangerously low and she would soon consume all she had...unless the generosity of others saved her again.
I frowned at the memory of Dex. I had known him very little, but I remembered vividly his lifeless body as I helped to bury him. I remembered Vasquez refusing to bury him, and realized that I had a lot to discuss with her...a lot to find out about her....but our time seemed so little. I wasn't sure how long either of us would last, as no one seemed safe from the suspicions of our companions. The beggar woman hobbled off, and I turned to Silas who still stood next me. "I thank you for your advice and support in that decision, Silas. You are an honorable elf." I clapped my hand on his shoulder as I passed him, making my way towards Vasquez.
As I neared her I heard Calliope scream. My muscles immediately tensed as I surveyed our surroundings, looking for the danger she must have seen...but I saw nothing unusual or immediately dangerous. I looked back to Vasquez and noticed she had impaled a rat on one of her daggers. She was stepping towards Calliope, the rat, still on the dagger, held in front of her. "You're not afraid of this, are you?" The question from Vasquez illicited another scream from Calliope and I saw Vasquez smirk as she discarded the rodent and wiped her blade clean.
I frowned and approached Vasquez, coming up behind her. My hand rested on her shoulder, and she turned to see who dared touch her. My frown turned into a smile as her eyes met mine. I leaned towards her ear, my lips mere millimeters from her skin. "Stay with me tonight. In my tent." She merely nodded.
That night, however, the group decided to stay in an inn. The consensus was that we would be safer in a place of business than sleeping outside of the city, in the open. Death was not a kind place, and who knows who might follow us and attempt to do us harm if we did not have doors we could lock. When the others had all reatreated to their respective rooms, I took Vasquez's hand in mine and led her to my room. It had been a long day...something seemed off about Vasquez's actions and mood on this day. There would be no more than sleep for either of us tonight. Together we lay, my arms wrapped tightly around her. As she began to drift off I realized I may not have another chance to ask her the things I wanted, and so I spoke.
"My love, will you tell me why this place pains you so?" I spoke softly, hoping to not disturb her if she was already sleeping.
"It's a long story Orehael," Vasquez sighed, turning in my arms so she faced me, her face and mine only inches apart.
"I have all night," I responded, gently stroking her hair.
I listened as Vasquez told me of her childhood, of growing up in Death. I listened as she told me of her family, of her parents and her sister. I listened as she told me that her parents were slaughtered before her eyes, and that she had to kill their attacker to save herself and her sister. I listened as the tears glistened in her eyes, and she recalled hiding her sister away only for her to be found later and slaughtered. Vasquez, herself, had barely escaped this place with her life...and now she was here again. In this place where all those painful memories were, and she knew not why had she had voted to come here.
While she talked I did nothing but hold her and listen, softly stroking her skin and catching her tears on my finger before they could fall upon her cheeks. And when she finished her story I knew not what to say, for I knew no words could comfort her. So I did the only thing I knew to. I kissed her lightly on her forehead and looked into her eyes. "I love you Vasquez. More than I have ever loved anything." With that I wrapped her in my arms and let her bury her face in my shoulder. I held her until her breathing was slow and rhythmic and I knew she slept. Then, I too, drifted into my dreams.
Beans, let me know if you want me to change anything in there. :D
Bonus Round Discussion:
I would say to fight against the guy, Lei. He uses ice magic, but that should be relatively simple to counter with the decision our fighter has to make. The flying could be a problem. He doesn't attack quickly and his physical attacks aren't all that strong. Also, he hasn't mastered his technique yet. He usually spares his opponents as well, which could be viewed as a weakness. He isn't going to be as cutthroat as the girls.
I'm not so sure about that... I feel like it might be Umi. She looks tough, but really all she does is fight with a sword. Not really strong or fast, no special abilities...
Well, who wants to fight?
It seems our travels to Death were not in vain. Our generosity, our compassion was not for naught. The old woman gave us an important tip. Now we can knock one more city off our list. But, was the price too high? For here in this festering half-dead city we again lost one of our own. Arion was taken sometime in the night. We found no trace of her. In some ways, that was harder than finding a body, for you can bury a body and grieve for what was lost. With a body there's closure. With a disappearance all you have left are questions.
People are edgy. Suspicious looks are thrown. Words like traitor and guilty float through the air. Small groups stay together as we seem loathe to give up the ones we've chosen to trust.
So we wander through this city of Death.
Something is coming though. I can feel it. Something big, something important, something that will cause more dissension among us. The world is once again changing before us. Death is stalking us on shadowed wing.
As I look at my companions I wonder who is next. Vasquez? Algernon? Durin? Myself?
Oft since joining this quest I have thought of my death. Will I have the courage to face it unafraid? Will I be strong? Will I stay true?
I shudder at my thoughts and wait.
Moira looked at herself in the bathroom mirror, then gasp at what she saw. A few minutes later, Myrra walked in. Moira shrieked. "Oh, I'm sorry, to have startled you...is that hair dye!?" Myrra asked. "Please don't tell anyone." Moira said. Myrra giggled, "Okay, I won't tell anyone. What IS your real hair color?" "A hideous shade of bright orangey red." Moira replied. "Okkaaay." Myrra said.
Kheelan weeped and wailed at the top of his lungs when the gossip finally reached him, he barely had any courage to continue, he wanted so badly to be with Arion and now she was missing and possibly killed, there was no one to lean upon, he now envied the love that Vasquez and Orahael had as he hung his head in sorrow and fell into a heap onto the hard ground below.
Kheelan however seeked revenge and was determined to find the traitor and continue on this quest for the sake of his love, he chose Umi would be the to help us all, his strength was at the weakest and found it no use to fight.
While I was still thinking about what it could be that Amethyst could not tell us now, the others had already decided to give food to the old woman. She was thankful and told us which city does not contain the Hidden Palace. "Well, at least something" I mumbled.
We all decided not to sleep in the so called nature but in the local Inn.
When we woke up the next morning, Arion was missing. "I wonder where she has gone? Had she been killed by the traitors?"
We walked around the streets of Death, and suddenly there were three people in front of us, wanting a duel. "We have to nominate somebody!" someone said. "Ok, that is not a job for me", I said, "I am not a good fighter! Better let Vasquez do that, she has weapons and seems to be a fighter. I think we should fight Lei, he's neither very rapid nor very strong - but his magical powers could be a problem though." The group was debating and I walked a bit off, together with Amethyst. Earlier I hadn't had the opportunity to talk to her alone but I really wanted to know what she was about to tell us the day before.
"So did you really see this old lady before?" I asked. "Is she really trustworthy or could her hint about Coron be a trap?"
Jia is so KAWAII! -squeals- I want her clothes. And Lei is hot too! Oh I like this random event bonus thing :D
I think we should fight Umi cause she's wearing Yuna's songstress outfit and really, that was the WORST dress sphere for me in-game, it was so pointless -_- If it gives her the sort of badness-at-fighting Yuna had with it.. Black Mage all the way! Yuna's flower one just looked silly. I didn't like Yuna anyway, psssh. Off topic!
Anyway, looks can be decieving. So I think although Lei looks hot and oh my, them eyes are gorgeous, and Umi looks weak, I think Lei's the one. We're being thrown off track by them eyes :(
Wait.. look at them statistics for Lei! Quite low. I think theres some reverse psychology going on. Like I said, Mage was better than Songstress. Lei = Mage. Ohh can we not just abduct them and take them with us? They're prettyful.
Aw, Andymy, I'm sorry to see you go! *hug* Poor Kheelan, too! I was really liking the romance unfolding between you two... :( I can't believe there's already a whole third dead... *shiver*
Ooh, bonus round! I say Lei sounds like the best bet. Pretty weak, not a master yet, and spares components. What a dear. But who to go against them? I guess, who said they were a warrior in their profiles? Durin's a weakling, but I know some of you aren't!
I'll RP later - I've got to go to school. Bleh!
Although they were in a place that reminded everyone what hell on earth could be like, Layre felt like she finally had a purpose on this quest. She had used the skills for which she was trained to help Vasquez, Algernon and Lynnia, and that filled her with a sense of peace and self-worth. I just hope that I won't have to use them again, as that would mean someone else is hurt.
When it was noticed that Arion was missing, Layre gave a sigh and wondered when this quest would end. We have to find the palace! Some of us are starting to run low on supplies, even with the sharing of food....Our strength is weakening and there are those among us out to sabotage the quest.
As the companions were leaving death they came upon a province and were challenged to a duel. One of them had to fight. But who? I know that I'm not a fighter. I'm very weak, and I have been trained to heal not harm. Among us are great fighters, Algernon being one of them, but he was recently injured and would not make the best choice....Who then? Although Vasquez hadn't fought since joining, I have a feeling that she is tough and would know what to in a situation. She seems very resourceful.
Looking over the 3 potential opponents Layre thought that Umi would be good to fight although she was very fast and the companion would see her coming. Whereas Lei was unskilled in his gifts and his moves should be slow enough to deflect them.
Layre recommends fighting Lei
--- RP ---
I was glad that we had chosen to stay at the inn instead of camping again. It felt good to lay on the soft mattress, wrapped up in the arms of my lover.
Orehael had a way of talking to me...like noone has ever spoken to me before. He's so gentle and patient, yet I can see that his eyes burn with a thousand questions. I hadn't planned on ever reliving that day, but it seemed so easy and natural with him - as if he were already a part of it with me.
As I headed down the stairs towards the front door, I noticed Kith, fiddling with something in his pocket. As I neared him, his eyes caught mine. He pulled his hand from his pocket and grinned at me. He's up to something...I just don't know what. I looked him over, wondering to myself if he was the traitor. Perhaps that's why he looked so guilty. My mood being less than pleasant, I broke eye contact and moved on.
The day was like every other day in Death - gray and full of sadness. I knew that our stay here wouldn't go unnoticed. Here I am, obviously a Deathonian, arriving in town with a group of elves. I wonder - how will I be received here? How will they be received? I reached my hand up to touch my ears. They're a dead giveaway as to my place of birth. Deathonians are known for their small ears.
Later that day, and must to my displeasure, we found ourselves in an area known for violence. It was a province that I dared not enter, but that the rest of the group felt it worth checking out. Deaf to my warnings, they entered. It wasn't long after we entered, that I saw them.
"Oh tell me it is not who I believe to see" hissed Jia. "Could it be? After all these years?"
My whole body cringed at the sound of her voice. "Hello Jia...Lei...Umi." I stepped in front of Kith, pushing him behind me. "No harm done here Jia. My friends don't know their way around here yet. They weren't aware..."
"Your friends? They are elves Vasquez!" The words spat out through a clenched jaw. "You're traveling with elves now?"
I looked over the group, seeing how this would appear to the trio. "Well then Vasquez, since you chose to find yourself in our province, then you will play by our rules. Name your fighter & chose who they are to fight."
"And if I were to refuse Jia?"
She took one step towards me, her eyes burning right through me. "Then we will simply kill these elves that you travel with."
Oh boy.
Is it just guess work then? Or is it more an educated guess? Do we know something that might point us in the right direction?
EDIT: Lei scares me. I feel like I'm being lured into a false sense of security. He usually spares his competitors, but what if he decides not to? And have none of you played Pokémon? Psychic is not fought with Strength (us lot, mostly). Use Ghost/Dark. But we don't have any Ghost/Dark people! Eep! Unless you count Algernon, I'm pretty sure he's undead at the moment. :blink:
Ahem. I did not just give away that I was a pokemon fan at all :umm:
I still think Lei is the one to choose to fight against. I don't know who to have fight him though. Is there anyone who WANTS to fight?
The only person Orehael would definitely not agree to is Vasquez--he would rather fight than have her fight. He's a skilled fighter, trained by the Elves of Ereh...but he only fights to protect things/others that he cares about, not because some humans challenge him to a duel.
lol Lei is a bad choice if you ask me. Magic is a powerful foe and if the companion chosen to fight doesn't at least have a little knowledge of magic, they'll be killed and we'll be short another member, most likely an innocent. XP I'm still unsure of who to vote for this, though..... :|
Ahem :) Well, I might make a list of everyone, and add one reason why they should fight to each. The one with the most convincing reason will be my nominee :D Unless of course, they state explicitly that they refuse to fight.
And then lets to the same for the person who we have to fight. Reasons!
I decided I don't like this. It's almost another Sacrifice round :(
14th May 2007, 06:15 PM
Lei may not be strong or fast, but he's magic and he flies. He's got no weapons, so we can probably guess that he's not gonna just stay on the ground where a non-magical opponent can reach him. He'll fly away and kick your *** with distance attacks. He can freeze you, blind you and create spheres of ice. Lei may not have mastered his magic, but none of us have magical attacks at all. Really, who would be prepared to go up agains that?
Umi on the other hand... she's just good with a sword. That's the only thing she's good at. Aside from making intimidating faces.
alexisaiger
14th May 2007, 06:20 PM
It's almost like another sacrifice round, but not quite. If our fighter wins they'll get a prize...maybe that no one can vote to sacrifice them or execute them next round? That would be a cool prize!
Anyway, I talked to my husband about this--he's the fighter game guy--and he seems to think we should fight Jia. She's quick in her attacks, but another quick person could dodge. Plus, she uses blunt objects and isn't very strong so our person would stand a better chance of surviving a few blows.
He says Lei shouldn't be messed with, because if we assume that none of the magic our characters know will be able to be used, then there is no defense against his magic attacks. Plus if he flies, he could, in theory just fly above us and throw magic attacks at us.
Umi isn't a good choice, because her attacks will do the most damage and she's pretty quick. It would only take an attack or two for her to kill one of us.
So, now I'm thinking we should fight Jia.
I like your thinking, Alexis. ;) (Or your husbands thinking)
It's definitely a toss-up between the two girls for me.
But Umi isn't particularly fast or strong. She just has a big sword. But it does say she's one of the best people around for sword fighting.
Jia may be the quickest in this area, but if someone was able to match her for speed/dodge attacks.
And about Lei flying, it wouldn't be such a big issue if we used bows & arrows. I still think that magic/psychicness is a bad choice though. Physical attacks are always weak against it, whatever game you play.
14th May 2007, 06:28 PM
Umi isn't particularly strong, but I do think she's pretty fast. It says 8/10. That's not slow! *LOL* And although she isn't super strong, she's the strongest of the 3 by 1 point...
lol Amethyst knows a bit of magic, namely an expertise in water magic and stone charming, along with a bit of earth and fire magic. But seriously, don't take this as a volunteer. If you do end up fighting Lei, use earth magic to ground his flight and take a few swings at him with fire or electric magic. Block blindness (or darkness) by using light spells and a potion or two. :p That should set him right... if you fight him. ;)
I vote we fight Jai. :p
The day passed slowly, and Vasquez seemed no less upset about being in Death. We needed to leave this place as soon as possible. There was no reason to stay--the palace was not here, and the depressing atmosphere was doing none of us good. To add to the problems we had, when we had awoken we found one of our companions missing. Arion had simply vanished. It seemed she and Kheelan had developed a love during our journey, and he was noticably upset, mourning her disappearance. I also saw something else in his eyes--the desire for revenge. There was no doubt in my mind that Kheelan would kill the traitor if he found him.
Later in the day we walked through the city, and as we walked Vasquez warned us not to stray far from the main roads. Most seemed not to heed her warnings though, and I frowned as I followed the group along, staying behind Vasquez so I could watch her back. Suddenly I saw a woman approach Vasquez--she did not look friendly and when she spoke she seemed to hiss her words. "You're friends? They are elves Vasquez! You're travelling with elves now?" She paused before continuing, "Well then Vasquez, since you chose to find yourself in our province, then you will play by our rules. Name your fighter & chose who they are to fight."
When Vasquez spoke she asked what I thought we were all thinking. "And if I were to refuse Jia?" Why would we fight these humans? Simply because they challenged us? They were not worth my time...they were not worth the time of any of us.
The girl stepped nearer to Vasquez so that she was within reach of her, and responded, "Then we will simply kill these elves that you travel with."
My eyes narrowed to slits as I strode towards the women, stepping between our challenger and Vasquez. No one would threaten Vasquez, and no one would speak of my people as this human had. I was not entirely fond of the Elves of Ereh, but they were my people, and I travelled now with elves who were much more honorable than any of the elves I grew up with...and who were much more honorable than these humans we now faced.
My eyes burned with rage and I felt the anger inside of me boiling. Vasquez was behind me now, and the girl in front of me glared, the hate apparent in her eyes. "They stand not alone. You would die before your stroke fell."
----
OOC: Beans, if you want me to change anything, just holler. I couldn't let Orehael do nothing though as these three threatened the group. The last thing Orehael says is a direct rip off of Legolas defending Gimli to the Riders of Rohan in the movie "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers".
It doesn't matter how we intend to fight. There is one easy opponent and we have to figure out which it is. I'm nearly sure it isn't Lei, for the reasons I already mentioned.
I think it could be Jia, but I don't think so. She's ridiculously fast, and even though she doesn't hit that hard, it's still being bashed with a hammer faster than you could dodge, block or counterattack. She has two fighting styles, which sounds tricky to me. Plus she looks cute, and it seems a bit too obvious that the easy one would be the one that looks easy.
Umi is not as fast, and only slightly stronger. So she might hit a little harder, but there's a higher change of being able to dodge, block and attack her. She only knows swordfighting, and swordfighers are a dime a dozen in LOTR. Serioulsy, I'd even volunteer Calliope to fight Umi. I feel that safe about it. (but don't pick me to fight, it's just not realistic to think that Calliope should be our group's "Champion")
It doesn't make sense to pick Jia over Umi based on the strength/speed difference. Jia: (speed:10/strength:4), Umi: (speed:8/strength:5). Assuming that you'd be able to dodge Jia's attacks but not Umi's is not logical.
Has anyone voted or volunteered for someone to fight against these people? Orehael doesn't want Vasquez fighting, so he's inclined to nominate himself if it means saving Vasquez from the battle.
EDIT: Really I think both girls are pretty evenly matched. It's hard to choose between them. Jia is faster than Umi, but her attacks are slightly lower. Umi is stronger than Jia but her speed is slightly slower. People keep saying Umi isn't particularly fast...but her speed is 8/10! That's not a big difference from Jia.
I'd say definately one of the girls... 123 did basically say looks can be decieving.
Another thing is, we've got a few people who in their application bio's claimed to be fighters, warriors and or handy with a weapon of some sort.
Orehael is a skilled swordsman and archer
Myrra is an extremely skilled archer and can fight quite well with a pair of daggers or a sword as well, though she prefers daggers.
Kheelan Aelfdene Ezary (Elf Warrior)
Vasquez: nothing can stop me from doing what I want...or getting what I want
Algernon: I toned my archery skills to perfection, able to shoot a twig off an Ent, plus ruthlessly slaughtered many innocents in my path.
Moria: My parents taught me at a young age how to use a sword.
I think there's a lot of talent within our companions that we're overlooking. Algernon is still recovering from the last battle so I'm not sure I want to stick him in another situation but there is Orehael, Myrra, Kheelan, Vasquez and Moria yet who we could use.
Edit: Magic, we have that many votes in already... wow... who's being voted to do the fighting? Nevermind... you already answered that. :lol:
I glared at the human before me, my hand gripping the bow in my hand so tightly my knuckles turned white. I was fighting hard to remain in control, to not take an arrow from my quiver and pierce the head of this pathetic human. As I stood, my eyes locked with the woman I began to hear the voices of my companions behind me.
"Vasquez can fight." I heard someone say. "Yes, and we should fight her...the one who challenged us." I heard others saying. This was ridiculous! The others actually thought we should fight these humans? They thought we should give them what they desired and risk the life of someone? We were stronger in numbers than these three. Why did we not simply kill them all now instead of playing their game? "Vasquez...she should fight." I heard yet another voice cry out.
Angrily, I turned away from the woman before me, certain that she would not take this opportunity to harm me. I scanned my group of companions, my eyes narrow slits, daring someone to speak the name of my love again. There was mostly silence, though I heard some whispers speaking of choosing one of the three humans to fight against. I knew that so far the only name I had heard spoken to fight these humans was Vasquez's...I would not let that happen. I would not let them risk her life. No one would choose her to possibly die in a pointless battle against these wretches.
"I will fight!" my voice boomed. "I will fight. Do not nominate Vasquez. Do not. I have fought before...many times...too many to remember. I fought for my people...in Ereh. We fought many battles, and my sword and arrows have claimed the lives of many warriors. I ask of you, if you are inclined to speak Vasquez's name, speak mine instead." My eyes looked over the group again, my eyes pleading with them.
The black-haired trio stood before them, oozing energy of practised martial arts. Kith looked to each of them, trying to make some judgement on the new-found enemies.
The first one was talking to Vasquez. Jia was dressed head to toe in pink, with her black hair in pigtails. Maybe she'd have been cute, if it hadn't been for the words she was speaking, and the two dangerous-looking weapons in each hand. She let out a raucous laugh, it was obvious she wasn't going to let the companions get away with trespassing on their territory.
The one called Umi stood quietly to one side, casting the group an intimidating glare and making a silent reference to the blade in one hand. And the guy, he was Lai. Kith was sure he could see sparks cracking playfully around his fingertips and in his eyes.
He was fairly certain that these guys could wipe their hands of him in a second. Best option? He ran a couple of different strategies by in his head, the best of which was pretty simple. Run for it. Easier said than done, of course. He'd have to make sure he slipped away without being noticed by the terrible trio. Speaking of which, Kith was pretty sure that they were heavily outnumbered by the companions. Surely if everyone got stuck in, they could be done with these three in no time? But it wasn't Kith's place to ponder that, and he was happy of it. Priority was getting out of here.
He slid round a few people, making his way across to the building on the left. Maybe if he could make it to the alleyway... He crept past a few people intently focusing on Jia, Lei and Umi. As he passed Calliope, he tapped her. "Psst! This way!" He wasn't sure, but she didn't look like the best street-fighter either. Better if they kept out of the way. Although, of course, if the trio wanted a fight with Kith, hiding from them would be pointless.
-----------
I guess everyone is now stood before them three fighter people? If Calliope wants to stay at the scene, WooHoo, just don't notice Kith. :p
I asked my husband about this as soon as it came up. He's into D&D (yeah, I married a dungeon master), and video games based on it (pretty much all Forgotten Realms games). We play fighting games together sometimes, and my faster, weaker girls usually beat his guys. I'm not even good at fighting games, since I kinda think they're boring. Anyway, he thinks we should fight Umi.
I'm starting to have second thoughts about Jia, maybe we should go for Umi. She only uses a sword, and isn't as swift as Jia. Her strength is ONLY ONE point more than Jia, which shouldn't make much of a difference. And her speed is 2 less than Jia. But then again, Jia's description said that she ALMOST always crushes her enemies. Meaning there's a chance that she can be beaten. But she is very young and fast, so trying to hurt her could be hard. Umi seems like the type that could look intimidating but isn't as good as she seems. Thinking from my point of view, if I where fighting against one of them, Jia would be too fast, Umi would be very hard to beat but could end up losing. It's so hard to decide.
Lei practises xing yi, a martial art that features aggressive shocking attacks and direct footwork, plus he can use magic, which makes him a difficult opponent.
Jia is way too fast and she has an expertise in 2 martial arts, kuntao (which is for defense) and changquan (for attack), plus she has those huge iron hammers.
I think that Umi is the easyiest one, she practises kenjutsu, this martial art isn't as aggresive as xing yi or changquan, she isn't as quick as Jia and she doesn't have magic powers like Lei. If you take off her sword she is nothing.
RP:"It happened to you, too?” Durin blinked. Kith sounded much more confused than he had expected him to be. Sure, Kith was expected to be a little confused, maybe thankful or fearful. But completely confused? Durin studied Kith’s face, brows furrowing as Kith stuttered “I... I think maybe... This can't be real. It's not, there's no way... Absolutely no way." Not real? Durin wondered. Now what’s that all about? Durin scratched his head, a stared quizzically as Kith frantically felt for his pocket. Now what could possibly be there?
Durin, deciding on a course of action, laughed off Kith’s curious words, and said, “Must be real. Thing is, why us?” He laughed, though the words held a forbidding and morbid sense for himself. But his laugh truly cut off as he saw Kith’s bread vanish in the skeletal boy’s mouth. Oh, Havens. This truly is worse than Coron… Durin nodded a quick goodbye to Kith, and strolled away to ponder his words. Minutes later, he bumped into Calliope. Durin felt his face contort into a hard and ominous look, which he fought to stop. If only she hadn’t bumped into him just as he was remembering a bit of lore his tutor had taught him in his teen years…! He blushed as she walked away quickly, ducking her head but not successfully hiding her own crimson visage. Durin stared after her retrating figure for a few moments, then returned to his walk.
It was then when he saw the group gathered around the old woman. Everyone offered her their bags, and she luckily did not take very much. Durin felt his heart speed up slightly as she said she had been to Mithëndar's palace. Could she possibly save them their long and brutal journey?
In only half an hour later, Durin was nursing a cup of ale he had nicked from an unfortunate vendor. He was disappointed to see that Deathian drinks clearly lacked the alcohol content he was used to. Course she wouldn’t remember, He thought bitterly. Rotton woman, getting our hopes up. he barely paid attention as the companions stumbled to a small inn nearby, and he was placed in a small dank room. Cozy, but the constant sound of dripping and vague dampness that clogged the bed sheets was off-putting. The next morning, Arion’s disappearance was discovered. Durin fervently hoped that she was gone after finding a loved one in the large city, and not for some sinister reason. Yet she had left her loved one, Kheelan… Durin, making sure to nick Kheelan his own cup of ale in the morning after giving him a gruff greeting and standing around awkwardly for a moment before making a quick retreat from the grieving man, could see the pain in Kheelan’s eyes. Perhaps he and Arion would be reunited after this terribly journey?
His slight headache that morning was greeted with the appearance of the vicious Deathians.
.......
I'll RP about them later, and give my vote. Mmm, I'm still undecided. I now feel like Kheelan would be a good fighter, what with the pain he's just been through to fuel him... But that would be cruel!
Jia stikes me as innocent looking. If we're not supposed to pay attention to looks, might she be one of the vicious ones? I dunno... I'm still making up my mind... Maybe Umi? She's kind of the odd one out, sort of in between the others...
*throwing hands up in the air* I'm completely confused. I don't play RP games, so I'm a total n00b at this kind of stuff. And out of complete selfishness I don't want Vasquez or Orehael to fight. But I really don't want anyone to fight cause if you lose, you're eliminated. *sigh* Maybe I should look over the stupid fighters again...
EDIT: Ok, looking at this logically...
We have 3 fighters, Lei, Jia and Umi.
Lei is the most gifted of the three. He has magic on his side, so he can definitely just fly in the air, blind us and freeze us to death. A big risk.
Jia may be fast, but she's not strong. She has no special powers and uses iron hammers to fight with. This means more hand to hand combat, which is a bonus for us.
Umi is almost as fast, but is stronger. It clearly says she has no problem slicing you in half. So this feels like a big risk as well.
So logically, anyone with any sword, dagger or fighting skills could beat Jia. Vasquez said she could take her LOL
14th May 2007, 11:20 PM
I'd say Lei is out because even though he's slower and weaker than the girls he has his supernatural abilities that make up the balanace. After all how fast or strong do you have to be if your opponent is frozen or blind?
Jia is out because even though she is weaker than Umi, she is faster. I looked up her fighting style and the one, changquan, means that she can flip and turn and twirl like a dervish. With her twin weapons and speed, I don't think you'd ever be able to land a blow on her.
That leaves Umi. She might be stronger, but with her slower speed she'll probably give you an opening for your attack.
Yeah, but unlike Jia, Umi's bio doesn't say anything about how often she'll slice you in half.
Jia's says that she almost always crushes her enemies.
Umi's just says she has no problem doing it, not that she can do it. Semantics I know, but...
But Jia crushes her enemies. And being crushed with a hammer sounds painful, especially as she's quick with her hammers too. Ouch.
I think swordfighting would be easier to block, especially if it was hand-to-hand combat, both with a sword. Evenly matched.
EDIT:
Whilst Jia is one point weaker in strength than Umi,
Umi is two points weaker in speed than Jia.
Jia's points total 14, Umi's total 13. :blink:
Hmmm. Very good points. Very very good.
Algernon was rustling through his bag, when Lynnia walked in the tent, seeing both him active.. and rather naked.
*blushing*"Ohh... Im sorry, but what exactly are you doing?" she asked.
"I'm looking for my growth bottles."
"Why? You can't fight them, you know it!"
"Bull, Im going to finish this off.. I am not weak"
With that, Algernon found what he was looking for. Three bottles, all blackish silver colored. One by one, he swallowed them. He unrapped his bandages, to Lynnia's horror. Slowly, the gaping hole in his stomach tightened shut, the broken rips pulled back and realigned, and the bruising went away. All the while, Algernon was screaming on the floor in unmeasurable pain.
"WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?" came Elroen barging in.
Algernon stood up, naked, and seemingly much larger in build and in heigth. His voice was deeper, and his eyes glared.
"Only bad part is, its irreversable, and causes memory loss... which doesnt bother me," he said. Algernon picked up his gear, and a new cloak brought to him. His veings bulged out of his hands and palms, and his face looked grim.
"You can't go out there and fight, not yet," pleaded Lynnia
Algernon looked deep into her eyes, and could nearly see her care, he conceeded, reluctantly.
Algernon Nominates Orehael to fight Lei
----
Now, theoretically, Algernon's character could pwn Lei due to the fact that Algernon has fire powers and can pwn the ice shards. Anyone whose played pokemon knows that ;) Flying shouldnt be an issue, I have bows and arrows. He also isnt skilled enough, and could easily fail..
But, I'm not sure.... technically, even if Lei wasnt the right person, Algernon could kick his ass, purely because I can counter his magic, and flying can be brought down by a well placed arrow, which we know Algernon can do... hmm
He is also weakest in points (9 points) and being only 19, probably innexperienced when it comes to magic, since it takes a long time to master. He also sometimes spares his enemies, while the others dont.
Hmmmm...after reading these newest opinions, Orehael's vote may change. I also went and looked up Jia's martial art styles and it is worrisome. If she specializes in both defensive and offensive martial arts, it may be difficult to do any damage to her even if one is able to dodge her attacks and counter.
Umi's strength is just her sword...
Like I said, Orehael's vote for which of the three to vote may change. His self-nomination remains though.
----
@ Infernal: The fact that Lei uses ice magic was why I at first thought he should be the one to fight. To counter we would simply use fire magic. The problem is, I'm not sure any of these made up magical powers any of the characters possess will be taken into account...
Yeah. Is it just like putting your hand into one of three holes in the wall? And for two of them having your hand bitten off, but one you pull out a gold nugget?
Yes, but normally a swordsman would know close quaters combat, especially with that rapid speed.
BTW, Algernon can't be blinded by magic... he has one eye, and even that glass eye is enchanted! Really... If he's wrong, and Algernon fights him, their isnt a way for Algernon, a 2500 year old man, to be killed off by a 19 year old punk who isnt that fast, strong, or skilled. I demand justice!
and 12331, you have to take in account all my abilities ;) No playing games now! If he can use ice, I can use my fire ;)
Well really 123321 doesn't have to take into account anything. Even if he did take it into account, he could easily write that whoever fights is defeated. It sounded like there are 2 choices that will result in our fighter losing, and one choice that will result in a win--regardless of the powers our fighter does or does not posess.
Yep, exactly like that. Only one is right and their bios have the clues. And yep, Infernal you can use whatever powers/magic you want, but you can still make the wrong choice and lose. But you can also make the right choice and win.
Good luck though to everyone..You're all looking really deep into it lol Voting will end tomorrow.
That is correct- You all have a 1/3 chance of picking the right person.
Orehael changed his vote in his RP 2/3 found here (http://forums.sims2community.com/showpost.php?p=877492&postcount=973), but still nominates himself.
Which of the three to fight: Umi
Which companion fights: Orehael
I'm still not sure who to have fight, that's a hard choice... it does make sense to go with Umi though.
