Durin peeked over others' shoulders at the three warriors. All wore bright colorful clothing, long dark hair, and fierce expressions. Woah.
Vote for one Companion: Kheelan
Vote for one Competitor: Umi
....
Not really an RP. Just votes. I might change 'em (as in my person). I hope auroraspirit doesn't mind! I just think Kheelan would be incredibly ready to be KILLER LIKE and revenge Arion's death. :lol: But he didn't say if he was a warrior. Does auroraspirit have an opinion on this?
EDIT: Final choice here.

I did a bit of research on the fighting techniques
Leis techniques regard mostly to mind, and spirit
Jia's techniques are both defensive, one more agressive
Umis technique is Japanese, and is a form of sword mastery. Trust me, she wont drop her sword if thats what you were thanking... swift and deadly.. i don't think she is the best option
Also, why would you choose the person with the highest points? Also, Umi has a typo.. it says "Sworswoman" in stead of "Swordsworman" or "Swordstress" ;)
Pandrito
15th May 2007, 12:23 AM
Infernal I also googled their techniques... some posts ago

I still think, with all things being equal, Lei is the worst to pick. After all I'm sure 123321 had this planned out before people started bringing up magical powers of their own.
An ordinary fighter would have a severe disadvantage over an opponent who has special abilities or powers.
So if you eliminate Lei, that still leaves Umi as the logical choice as she has the least points
Infernal

I see, but something is off about her.. I get a bad feeling for some reason...
I changed my vote away from myself XD, Im just going with Alexis

15th May 2007, 12:26 AM
@ Infernal:
After Pandrito looked up their styles, I did as well. It's my understanding that Jia has both defensive and offensive styles. Kuntao is defensive, but I do not think Changquan is. This is what I found about Changquan:
"Also known as the WaiJiaQuan means external or long fist. ChangQuan is a style of kung fu filled with energetic, fully-extended movements of kicks, punches, rises and falls which are particularly suitable for young practitioners. A lot of agility, stamina, and leg strength are needed to do this style. The basic Wushu movements were derived from ChangQuan movements."
and
"The Chang Quan (long fist) was founded in the southern part of China, and is one of the fastest and most energetic styles of Kung Fu, combining explosive kicks, punches, locks, throws & jumps in flashy movements. The course focuses mainly on fists with lower stances. After mastering Changquan, you will gain more power & strength."
That doesn't sound defensive to me. *LOL* The fact that she has offensive and defensive styles makes me think we couldn't get a hit in on her even if we managed to avoid her quick attacks. So Umi it is.
EDIT: And thanks for voting for Orehael! He appreciates you choosing him and not Vasquez. :D

15th May 2007, 12:44 AM
The voting ends tomorrow- and results will be posted then also. I will probably post the next sacrifice too. I'm trying to pace out the contest, because I always end up having around 2 more weeks left.
XsnowdropX
15th May 2007, 12:46 AM
I really dont think it depends on what companion fights. We can send Silas up against the person (sorry derange, but you did say hes a wimp:P) and as long as we pick the right opponent we will win.
alexisaiger
15th May 2007, 12:48 AM
That's the way I understand it too XsnowdropX. Even a companion who has never fought in their life would win if the correct opponent is chosen.
EDIT: I'm headed to my son's baseball game so I'll be gone for a few hours. Have fun all!
MagicBeans
15th May 2007, 12:49 AM
I agree Snowdrop. It sounds like this is all about picking the right fighter. (err - person to fight against, not companion).
123321_SC

You all are right! :) It's about picking the right fighter. The companion you pick will be the only one rewarded- or cursed, etc.

Okay, here's my FINAL, and official vote.
Vote for one Companion: Orehael
Vote for one Competitor: Umi
123321_SC
15th May 2007, 01:00 AM
The person that fights may not be killed, even if he or she loses- so it's not sacrifice. Basically, if one person in your group had to fight someone, who would it be? Their personal strength and endurance would not matter, because you are trying to pick the weakest competitor. And to find the weakest competitor- you have to study their profiles and find the one clue.
MagicBeans
15th May 2007, 01:02 AM
You guys are killing Vasquez by voting for Orehael. She's keeping track of the names too LOL
So wait. They don't necessarily die then? :cry: I'm so confused! LOL

So the person doesn't matter? This is more of a sacrifice? I that case, do we not want to pick our stronger people? Or will it really make no difference throughout the contest how strong a character is?
I need to need through the profiles again too. I wish I didn't have a math test! Grrr!
123321 (on below): Phttt, I'm glad I didn't have anything in my mouth! Hee hee! Aw, I hope we won't all die!

If they were, you'd know Id kick all their asses ;)
But, I looked over at Jia... she has some heavy ass iron hammers. She isnt even strong, and look at how frail she is XD She may be fast, but not with hammers. I dont think shed make a good fight against a sword. I dont like Umi.... and shes the only one with japanese influence.
MagicBeans
15th May 2007, 01:55 AM
See that's where my original train of thought was. Someone that's not very strong with iron hammers, no matter how fast they are, couldn't be much of a match against a pair of daggers. She wouldn't even have to get close for someone with sword/dagger training to kill her. But could that be the actual clue? :confused:
zeldap
15th May 2007, 02:25 AM
It could, but 123321's post said don't base our votes on looks, but to study the profiles.
Unless that's a bit of misdirection on his part.
If this isn't the proverbial rock and a hard place I don't know what is. LOL!

"I ask of you, if you are inclined to speak Vasquez's name, speak mine instead."
I stood in disbelief. Was he really volunteering to fight one of these three? I was sure that Orehael didn't know what he was truly getting himself into. I grabbed him by the arm and spun him around.
"No! You can't do this! They'll kill you Orehael!"
His eyes were burning with anger. I knew that the comments they made against elves was hurting him, even though he surely wouldn't admit it. He said nothing to me as he touched my cheek with his hand. "Orehael please. I've fought them before. I know their tricks - how they fight. I won't sit by and watch you do this!"
I could hear the others talking...
"If he wants to fight them, have him fight!"
"Orehael could fight them!"
I turned to them, looking each that volunteered him in their eyes. "NO! He cannot and will not fight them!" I walked over to Algernon. "Your fight is with me Algernon. Not Orehael." He said nothing, but instead turned his eyes from me.
Orehael rested his hand on my shoulder, trying to get my attention off of those that would dare vote for him. He rested his head on mine and spoke softly. "I made a vow to you."
I turned around to face him, part of me wanting to hold on and never let go while another part wanted to beat him stupid. "But what of my vow to you Orehael?" I forced the tears back, knowing this wasn't the time or place. "I thought it would be different with you. I wanted...different things. Things I never wanted before."
He put his hands on the sides of my face and kissed my forehead. "I am confident my love. I can do this. If I should fall, I will always be with you."
I couldn't stop the tears as they raced over my cheeks. "But I love you Orehael."
As we stood together, I listened as names were still called out. Unless something changed, it appeared as if one of us may be ending our journey very soon.

OOC: I'm exhausted, so I'm off for the night. Hopefully someone will find a clue in those pictures?

Silas had left the group momentarily to visit a merchant's stand on the side of the street, and by the time he had finished browsing (and subsequently bought himself a pretty red scarf) the group had disappeared. Immediately he began to worry - he didn't like being separated from his companions to begin with (unless he went off on his own), but in the city of Death he feared being mugged, raped, and then left hanging from a lightpost. He ran off in the direction they had gone, and after passing three streets (were those skeletons following him, or was this scarf tied a little too tight?) he finally found them, sprinting straight into the group and shivering in relief at the safety he felt amongst them.
It took him a few minutes to realize that something was going on. Moving up to the front, he went to Kith and motioned to the three individuals standing in front of them. "What's going on here?"
"They're trying to get us to fight. We need to decide who's fighting who."
"One person each?"
Kith nodded - Silas thought. "Orehael could beat them, and I'd say he'd have a good chance against Umi..."

Ok, so what if we look at the letters instead? There was an N left out of one, and a D left out of the other. Does that mean anything to anyone? What if D stands for Die, meaning you'll die if you fight her? LOL Yes - grasping at straws...:rolleyes: N could stand for...nincompoop? *throwing hands up in air*
123: You're killing me here lol At this point I really hope that either Umi is right, or Orehael won't die from the fight :(

I feel like I owe you all an apology. I've been really pushing this thing to turn from Orehael to someone else, and I couldn't figure out why it was upsetting me so much. Someone pointed out to me that it's not Orehael - that it wouldn't matter who it was really. It's the whole death thing. This is just a bad time for me and death. :shrug: Normal, I suppose.
So I'm going to just fade out of the rest of this discussion and let everyone else decide who fights and hope it's the right one so that nobody dies. Hopefully we'll hear soon? I can't remember when you said you were posting the results 123.

Sorry Beans. (((hugs)))
On another note, Orehael is pleased that his name has come up so much and he's confident. :D I can't wait to find out the results of everything--if Orehael fights, and if he wins or loses, and what will happen.
WooHoo
15th May 2007, 05:37 PM
If he wins, he gets some kind of prize. But it's a surprise what it will be. If he loses, he might die, or maybe some other bad thing will happen. I'm under the impression that only the companion who is picked to fight will be affected by this. But yeah, we don't know exactly what will happen, just that it's good if you win and bad if you lose.

I stood at the front of the group of companions, my arms wrapped tightly around Vasquez. My chin rested on the top of her head as she buried her face into my chest, not wanting the others to see the tears that flowed down her cheeks. Every time my name was spoken I felt her body go rigid momentarily before her breathing went ragged again from the sobs that she was stifling against the cloth of my shirt. I knew she loved me, and that was all I needed to know. That one simple fact made this whole ordeal worth any fate that I was handed.
I listened as the number of companions agreeing that I should be the one to fight increased. I smiled softly, my eyes thanking each who spoke my name. If it were I to fight, at least Vasquez would be spared. If I lost and my life was claimed then I had no right with her in the first place. If I could not defend her from even these three humans, how could I expect to protect her from the dangers that lie ahead? From the traitors? From the ring? From whatever lay within the palace that we sought? I needed to do this...not only for Vasquez but for myself. For my people, and as a first step towards reclaiming the honor I had lost years ago.
Most of the companions had spoken, and it seemed my name had been called more than any others. Unless things changed it seemed I would be fighting.

Umi – 12
Lei - 3
Jia - 2
_____
Myrra - 1
Orehael – 5
Kheelan – 6
Vasquez - 2
Algernon - 1
......
This is what I've counted so far. I'm pretty sure I got all of the votes so far (and not ones where people posted two votes...). I don't know how many people still have to vote, though... Several people have chosen their competitor but not the companion...
I updated my vote, with Kheelan (I have a good feeling about him being able to do well, with losing Arion...), and Umi.
EDIT: Yay, MagicBeans, you got all the votes together! *hug* You are dedicated! This is a little redundant, but I'll fix this tally with the nice and proper numbers MagicBeans got together, in case some of you are too lazy to count. :P

All of the companions were asked to pick one companion to fight. They all eventually decided that Kheelan, the elf warrior, would be the perfect fit. It was a difficult desicion choosing who he would fight though. All three looked like amazing fighters, but who was the least threatening out of them?
The companions decided to have Kheelan fight Umi, the Kenjutsu master. The fight begins..
Umi flipped up into the air, literally doing a kart-wheel in the air. She flew over to Kheelan and cut his shoulder. Kheelan quickly backed off, but Umi kept walking closer and closer to him. She whispered, "Did you really think it was a good idea to challenge ME?
Kheelan threw punches back, but he missed each time. Umi seemed to be brilliant in Kenjutsu, strikingly fast, with the strength of a regular fighter. She was balanced in all areas, which helped her. The companions watched in despair as they saw Kheelan slowly getting beaten.
http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/4869/pktl1.jpg
The other two fighters laughed as Kheelan fell to the ground, tired and out of breath. Umi walked away, sparing the elf. She took a mystical onyx rock from her pocket and forced it down Kheelan's mouth, almost choking him. The rock is a curse of bad luck. Kheelan will now have have two extra votes for the next sacrifice.
Jia is the youngest and has the least experience fighting, although she is a great fighter. She has a below average strength and can barely lift the heavy iron hammers and can only crush very unexperienced fighters when using steriods (Explains her happy/slightly crazy expression when fighting). The small group of fighters is within a larger group called the Yuddahs. You never know, they may return.

Amethyst quickly made her vote as of who to fight and who was to fight, but her vote was passed over in favor of Umi vs Kheelan. Now, Kheelan was a strong fighter, but Umi had the upper edge on him from the beginning. She beat him easily and cursed him by stuffing an onyx stone down his throat.
"Perfect. Just perfect!!" Amethyst muttered to herself as the haughty fighters walked away.
The companions turned away to set up camp. The previous night's stay at the inn had lost them Arion, but as her body was never found they assumed she was dead. The group had then collectively decided that inns were no longer an option, or at least a safe one. Amethyst was no longer afraid of excersising her magical powers and set up her tent with ease, and a few words in Elvish Latin. A few of the other companions stared, including Durin, but she shook it off -whatever it was- and went inside. She had thought up a new shortcut on a previously long spell and hastened to write it down. Parchement and ink were laid on the table, although when she came from she would have used much more modern implements; quick-dry silver ink laced with evervescent properties, paper that was designed in such a way as to preserve it as time went on, chic, glass cases where they were stored. She sighed. "Best not wish for what one cannot have."
She had just dipped her pen in the ink when the curtain was slightly pulled away, letting the late afternoon sunlight in. "May I come in?" Haydar asked with some caution.
"Oh, of course!" Amethyst put down the pen; a single drop of the jet black ink dropped to the table. "So. What is it you wish to speak about?"
"You're one to cut to the chase."
"Well, if you like to put it that way, yes."
"I just wanted to ask you about something you said earlier. You said you had seen this old lady before? Is she trustworthy, or is her hint about Coron a trap?"
"Well, I didn't exactly meet her... per say. I've heard and read about her, though."
"She's just a peasant!!" Haydar exclaimed. "I mean, why would there be books on her?"
Amethyst bit her lip. Had she gone too far? Had the mention of reading about this lady perhaps started something that couldn't be stopped until it was fully revealed? "Well, um.... what I meant was..."
"Go on."
"I'm not exactly from around here..."
"Well, no one is. Except for Vasquez, but that's beside the point."
"I don't mean here here, I mean here when."
"Huh?"
"It's like this-" Amethyst's explanation was interrupted by Miora. "Amethyst. Haydar." She gasped between breaths, as if she had been running. (which she probably had) "Another sacrifice is about to begin." She ran back towards the campfire. Amethyst felt relieved to have her conversation interrupted, although she was careful not to show it on her face.
"I guess we should go. Maybe we could finish talking later?"
"Sure. That'd be fine." Amethyst cast a brief locking spell on the tent and strode out into the dusk with Haydar. Her insides were churning, dreading the decision yet to be made. "How many more must die before we reach where we are going??"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ok, I thought I should just mention this, but all of Amethyst's thoughts are in Italics. Her speach is left un-altered. Gerbera, this should leave you room to come in after the sacrifice post. :)
Moira was shocked, and disappointed that everyone made the wrong choice. When she saw the three warriors for the first time her eyes were instantly drawn to Umi. Moira is usually good when it comes to guessing things, but maybe her eyes were drawn to Umi, meaning she would be a bad choice. She was angry at her self for always making the wrong decision when it came to challeges and picking locations, and angry at that little witch, Umi. She picked up a large stone, and out of anger she threw it as hard as she could at Umi. Before she even realized what a horrible mistake she made, Umi pulled out her sword and pressed it against Moira's neck. "You want a piece of me, b***!? I'll slice your pretty little neck, and maybe I'll cut some fingers off while I'm at it!" "Oh my gosh, I'm sorry, it was an accident, I'm sorry, it won't happen again!" Moira said quickly, as scared as she's ever been in her life. "Yeah it better not happen!" Umi walked off.
Moira ran to a private place, she was shaking horribly. Moira always appears strong and brave, but she never lets anyone see the real person she really is.
She breathed slowly to relax. She then ran back to the camp to look for the rest of the companions. She ran to where Amethyst and Haydar was. "Amethyst. Haydar." She gasped between breaths, "Another sacrifice is about to begin." She ran back towards the campfire.
"Is something wrong?" Algernon asked, noticing Moira wasn't quite herself. "Nothing,ABearTriedToEatMeThere'sNothingWrong,Okay,There'sNothingWrong, Kay,GotIt,Kay?" Moira said very quickly. "Riiight..." Algernon said. "I can't believe Umi was the wrong choice, I feel bad for Kheelan." "Yeah, me too, are you hungry, I'm hungry, how about you!?" Moira said. "Are you SURE there's nothing wrong, you don't seem too well." Algernon said, obviously concerned. "I'm fine! Will you please excuse me!?" Moira said, running off to her tent.
Orehael was still alive, and I owed it all to Kheelan. I found it hard to take my eyes off of him as we packed our belongings and prepared to leave the Inn. Much to my dismay, the group had decided to leave the inn and camp out. I found the decision to be foolhardy. Leaving the security of a solid locked door, for the insecurity of canvas tents? We'd be lucky to survive the night.
As we made our way to the campgrounds, I couldn't help but wonder - why was I so angry? Orehael was alive. Kheelan was alive. All was well, outside of the fact that we were spending another night in this hell hole of a city. Perhaps it's the effects of the ring. Not being the dumbest in the bunch, I reminded myself that someone here carried the ring. It certainly wasn't making this journey on it's own. I had a good idea on which of us carried it as well. I'd have to keep my eye on him. Carrying that ring makes him a target for the traitors.
Collecting enough wood to last all night, I started a fire. The camp was already starting to buzz with the news. There would be another sacrifice. We would once again, vote for who we thought the traitor to be. Was Arion's death not enough? Must we kill someone else? My eyes fell on Kheelan, who I couldn't help but feel sorry for. He had loved her, I could tell. It seemed as if part of him wanted to die back there during his fight against Umi. I walked over to Kheelan, an apple in hand.
"Here." I said, extending the apple towards him. "You'll need to keep your strength up." I lay the apple in his lap, touched him on the shoulder, and went back to the fire. I sat down next to the blaze, and waited. As desperately as I wanted to sleep in Orehael's arms again, I knew that my night would be spent keeping watch instead.
On there way out they see three hooded figures moving in the shadows near a building. The companions run away as fast as they can , but the figures magically vanish and reappear in front of them. These anonymous spirits want the ring, but everyone refuses to give it to them.
THREE? Does that mean all three die???
16th May 2007, 04:02 AM
Journal Entry:
Once again I, we, have chosen wrongly, thankfully though Kheelan still lives. The trio who accosted us, who challeneged us, have emerged triumphant, while we, or more correctly, Kheelan, tasted defeat. His physical wounds have been tended to, but his mental ones, those are not as easy to heal. Can love really affect people that way?
I put down my journal. What was it about love that made you want to live, or die? Kheelan hardly spoke, and was quite willing to die now that Arion was gone. I glanced at Vasquez and Orehael. That had each been willing to sacrifice themselves instead of seeing the other do it. I sighed. These questionings of mine did no good at all. For people such as I, love plays no part in our lives.
My thoughts turned to our most recent challenge. I had accepted that tough
decisions would have to be made, and that people would be injured or killed based in part on my decisions, but once, just once I'd like to be able to say I had made the right decision.
I watched as Vasquez approached Kheelan and hand him something, then return to her place by the fire. I stood and walked over to where she sat.
"Vasquez," I said and waited til she looked up.
"I have no wish to be alone this evening. May I join you?"
It can happen. But you are just naming the people you are suspicious of; You'll have to find out which ones die in the results.
"I have no wish to be alone this evening. May I join you?"
Lynnia stood over me, a look of sadness on her face. I motioned to her, letting her know that she could sit with me. Reaching in my bag, I grabbed a small loaf of bread and broke it in half. "Want some?"
"Oh. Yes I would. Thank you." She ate the bread as if she hadn't eaten in days. I suppose we were all feeling the same way. Tired. Hungry. Sick of being in this city. "There's only 20 of us left", she continued "and at least one more will be killed off this evening."
I nodded my head. "Yes, and I've heard rumor that there may be up to 4 sacrifices tonight."
Lynnia's face turned a bit pale at the comment. "Vasquez, I don't want to..."
I chose to not hear the rest of her sentence. Death had been on my mind too much lately. It was too close a call with Orehael. I had lost one lover on a journey such as this one - I did not wish to lose another. "Neither do I Lynnia."
My eyes fell upon Orehael, watching him as he moved about. I felt a duty to remain here - to keep watch during the night. I wonder if he knew that one mention - one request for me to stay with him again - would change my mind?
Sorry all those who I named--this is nothing personal, but the characters come across as traitors to me...with Amethyst being the most suspicious.
RP:
I was shocked to hear Kheelan's name called more than my own to fight these humans. I was sure he knew to fight and he was full of rage due to the loss of Arion...but it seemed so cruel to force someone who had recently lost a love into the battle. What if his grief overcame him and he simply let the human kill him? I could do nothing though--the group had spoken. Instead I stood to the side and watched as Umi defeated Kheelan and shoved a cursed stone down his throat. "I am so sorry Kheelan," I thought, "if only I had been the one chosen, you would have been spared this curse."
The group was wary of returning to an inn after Arion disappeared. Instead they decided to stay again in tents on the outskirts of the city. It seemed madness to me, to stay in the open when any number of violent criminals or desperate beggars could easily follow us. I shook my head angrily and followed along, feeling as if I were sailing on a boat not of my own making...following someone else's path. I kept Vasquez in my sight, following behind her as was my usual place, guarding her back where an enemy could try to harm her without her notice.
The group stopped and began putting up their tents. I watched as Amethyst spoke some Elvish words, casting a spell to aid her in putting up her tent. My eyes narrowed and the suspicion chilled my bones. She had been a quiet one in the beginning, seeming to blend into the crowd with no outstanding feature to draw attention. Suddenly though it was apparent that she had been hiding much--a fact that I was not comfortable with. It seemed now that she may be capable of many things, of being a traitor. I knew then who I would vote for at the sacrifice. "Heaven help me if I am wrong," I whispered.
I continued about my business, checking my supplies to ensure that I had enough to last me and Vasquez if necessary. I did not have as much as some, but I had enough if I kept careful rations...and if Vasquez ran low for any reason I would be able to provide for her as well. I glanced over to her now, ensuring that she was okay. She sat with Lynnia, and I sighed, thankful that she was not with Amethyst or Algernon. I could trust neither of them...but Lynnia did not seem dangerous. After having checked and double checked my food supply as well as my arrow count, and having erected my tent, I relaxed onto a log that lay near my tent. There I sat, watching Vasquez, wondering if she knew that I would be keeping watch over her all night if she intended to keep watch over everyone else.
When Amethyst and I arrived at the place where the group was standing the fight was just about to begin. Most people had voted for Kheelan to fight Umi. "No, not Umi, this is wrong!" I thought but it was too late. As I had feared it, Kheelan got beaten. Luckily he was spared but he got an unluck curse ... Layre took care of his wounds.
I was still wondering what Amethyst wanted to say to me before but this was not the right place and time to discuss that issue. I must have stared at her because she gave me a strange look. "Man, that woman surely is a mystery!" I thought.
Suddenly three hooded creatures appeared in front of us - they wanted the ring! I said to myself "I hope Kith is strong enough to not give it to them ... I hope we all can work together and protect it"
Everybody refused to give the ring to them.
We had to leave Death finally, this place was horrible to all of us. People had started to discuss where to go next.
Durin, to whom I hadn't talked for quite a long time, was standing next to me, thinking about the city he'd vote for. I said to him "I think we should go to Hinith. I know that this place is even more horrible than Death, but that could be a reason for it to be the place of the Hidden Palace. What do you think?" He didn't answer immideately and Amethyst, who was also standing near, replied instead.
After the fight, Layre quickly walked over to Kheelan to check if he was alright. He wasn't able to give much of an answer as his throat was raw from the "curse" that was forced down his throat. Layre made a soothing drink for his throat, and gave him a balm to rub into his muscles where it hurt. "It won't take the pain completely away, but it will help. Look at it this way, pain is a reminder that you are alive and have survived." she said, trying to draw Kheelan's attention away from the fact that he was now cursed.
Layre searched for a quiet place a short distance from the others to rest. I'm beginning to despise this trip. Too many innocents are dying, or being hurt! That ring NEEDS to be destroyed! Layre laid down, and fell into a fitful sleep replaying the events that have happened over the course of the quest.
When Layre awoke it was to a bleak morning with the announcement that there was to be another sacrifice along with 3 other "chosen" ones. Layre recalled her dreams from the night before and the faces that were featured prominently in them. I have chosen, but I'm not sure about any of them. May my choices be right.
More than anything Layre wanted to get out of Death as fast as they could, and on to somewhere more hospitable preferably with the palace. She reached into her knapsack and pulled out an apple, noticing that her food was getting low. We HAVE to find the palace soon because if we don't aren't killed first, we'll die of hunger next.
Grabbing her things, Layre walked over to a spot by a scraggly tree, that was more dead than alive, and sat beneath it, eating her apple.
ooc: Last I remember, Kith and Calliope were going away from the fight scene in Death. So that's where I'm starting...
Kith tapped Calliope on the shoulder, "Psst! This way!" With a worried look, she said, "Are there rats that way? I don't want to see any more rats." She followed him anyway.
They walked to the outside of the city. It seemed a bit nicer there, but Calliope still didn't feel particularly safe. "Kith, I hate these places they keep bringing us to! You'd think at least one person would know where the palace is." They do know where it is... they're just doing this to make me suffer. They knew I wouldn't like it in Death. Well, I'll show them... Kith and I are gonna have a good time tonight! "Kith! Do you have any money? I don't... but it's completely necessary that we go drinking tonight."
"Kith! Do you have any money? I don't... but it's completely necessary that we go drinking tonight." said Calliope.
Quite agreeing, Kith felt his pocket for money. The Ring clinked against a couple of coins, making a peculiar bell-like noise that didn't sound too much like metal. Kith coughed to cover it up. "Ahem! Of course. I'm loaded. Yep, definitely got money. Wow, listen to all that!" he knocked a few coins against each other, making the proper money-clinking noise. "Well, I hope they have a tavern or two round here. Not like Clo, rotten old place. God knows that they do there to have a good time." He looked to the ragged people in the street, wondering the same for this place too. "Well, Calli. We'll go find somewhere to drink tonight, yeah? And maybe we should go find out what happened to Kheelan right now." he added nervously, hearing the gasping and shouting from over at the fight scene.
Later that day, the companions were packing their tents and belongings away, preparing to move to the next province. From the corner of his eye, Kith was certain he spotted some dark figures gliding past a shoppe. But when he turned, they had vanished. He cast it off as a trick of the light, some shadow being cast by the setting sun.
Some gossip was buzzing round the camp. Kith approached Caara, to find out more. "Hey Caara, long time no see. So, whats the dope?" Caara blinked for a few seconds, confused. "I mean news. What's this talk going round all about?"
"Oh. It's the vote for the next sacrifice. We choose our sacrifice, but also three more people you suspect are traitors." Three people? This was going to be hard. Kith cursed his trust of people.
"Right. Thanks, Caara!" he hopped off to think for a little while.
He sat himself down on the floor by Pip and his tent, putting his hand in his pocket to check the Ring hadn't disappeared. That was becoming something of a habit now, as was referring to it as Ring, as if it were its name, not just ring. Kith shook his head, as if trying to dislodge the thoughts from his brain. I should give it to someone else. Like Orehael or Silas. He quickly crossed the latter of his list, remembering the expression on the elf's face when he saw the Ring. To distract himself, he took a stick out and began to write in the mud. He needed to make some tough decisions for this sacrifice. And where to travel to? He certainly opposed going back to Lethys. "Boring old country-folk, that's all you'll find in Lethys. Certainly no Palace, believe me. Just hills, and sheep. And Mom and Dad, probably still making pointless pretty things." he said it out loud by accident, he felt quite strongly about it. The setting sun suddenly reminded him of something. About time to get looking for a grog shop, I need to let myself go a bit. All this crap about the Ring, it's not good for ya, Kith. Now, where's Calliope?
Yoink. I'm so sorry, people mentioned. I'll try explain myself :p
Korinne - I haven't seen much of you so you are still shrouded in mystery for me.
Algernon - I think generally everyone thinks Algernon has some hidden secrets :p Plus, I don't know, maybe its the semi-immortality to me. Why would someone spend so much time alive if they didn't have something, other than simply live, to do (or get) first?
Amethyst - Don't know what it is, maybe because Amethyst hasn't spoken to Kith yet, but she has an unusual aura. Not necessarily bad, but it's unexplainable.
Kheelan - Kith still suspects you from voting him in the first round! Other than that, he has no experience with you, so you're still a slightly fishy character to him.
It's hard, at least for me, to pull other people in because I don't want to be accused of Godmodding. *eyes Infernal* That's why I made the list. You can see where everyone is, and have your character just step into the RP. I'm very comfortable with Orehael, because of Alexis. I'm somewhere comfortable with a few others, but not like I am with his character. I don't think I'd ever pull Algernon in, just cause I know Infernal has very specific rules about that stuff.
I don't mind doing it at all. Just be aware that I don't know your character very well, and I might have her say or do something that you can't see her saying/doing. If that happens tho, just send me a PM and let me know what to change and I'll gladly fix it.
Silas stood to the side, trying to get someone's attention. "Hey, guys--" His voice was drowned out by the crowd. He glanced at the piece of paper in his hand, with a list of four names, and tried again. "I think it's--" No one paid him the slightest bit of attention. Completely flustered by the number of people ignoring him, he retreated back to his bag, retrieved his violin and a bag of silverish powder. He blew it over the strings with an elvish whisper, read the paper once more, set it on the ground underneath his toe, and began playing, his notes loud and fast. Above his head, as he played, the following names were spelled.
Haydar
Algernon
Orehael
Once they had materialized, he stopped playing, looking mildly irritated. Looking around to see if people were looking at him, he pointed up to the names above him. "They are who you should be paying attention to," he said bitterly. "Haydar should be your sacrifice."
I caught a glimpse of them wandering off just as they disappeared around the corner. Where were those morons off to? Didn't they realize how dangerous Death is? I asked Lynnia to keep the fire going, checked to make sure my daggers were in place, then headed out after them. Something told me to inform Orehael of my whereabouts, but I decided against it. He'd only insist I stay while he follows them and I refuse to let anything happen to him. He's better off watching over the camp.
I was shocked to find them entering a bar in town. It was a place I knew well....a place I thought I'd never return. This was not how I wanted to spend my last evening in this horrid city. I pulled a bit of cloth out of my back pocket and tied it around my head, covering my ears. Perhaps if they think we merely stumbled in, they'd not give us a hard time. Deathians do love to cheat any passersby out of as much money as possible.
There they were - at the bar, drinking and having a good time. It appeared as if Myrra was already rather intoxicated. As she lifted her drink to her mouth, nearly missing in the process, my hand caught the tankard and pushed it back down to the bar. "My apologies" I said to the bartender, who seemed to be already suspicious of me. "Is this not the Red Wolf Inn?" He grumbled something unintelligable, although I knew exactly what he meant. Get out. I nodded to Layre and then to the door. It was the closest I could get to yelling "GET OUT!". Kith sat on a stool, bottle to his lips - staring at me. That fool. He came here with the ring? I mouthed the words "Get out now" to him and watched him as he excitedly shook his head to me.
"Thank you Sir. I'm forever grateful for your hospitality." I said to the bartender, laying a gold piece on the bar. "I hope they didn't cause too much trouble."
"Nay" he grumbled, still eyeing me.
I turned around with widened eyes, shooing them towards the door. I got only one step away before someone yanked the cloth from my head. "I thought I recognized you. Vasquez."
Oh crap.
The room fell silent as that one name caused everyone in the bar to stop what they were doing and turn towards me. My companions halted before leaving, even though I wished they had simply run for their lives. I scanned the room with my eyes, surveying what I knew was about to be a lot of damage. I couldn't walk out due to the man now standing to my right. Turning my back on him would be foolhardy. There was no more time for talking, since these were not the talking kind. I had 4 daggers on me, that needed to kill 10 men. Odds I didn't favor, but that didn't frighten me either.
The first dagger was in the man to my right before anyone had even realized I was throwing. I wheeled around, throwing my second dagger at the bartender, who landed with such force it made the floor rumble.
"Go go go!" I yelled to the foursome, but they didn't move. As a larger man came at me, I ducked, retrieving my last two daggers from my boot. Thrusting them upwards, he landed dead on, then leaned and fell to the ground. 3 down, 7 to go. 2 daggers left.
"Oh lookie! Vasquez is killing people!" Myrra said with a hiccup. She pulled a dagger out and held it up to her face "Maybe I should *hic* help." I spun around, pulling the dagger from her hand.
"Thank you." I said, a quick smirk sent in her direction. The dagger was quickly sent flying towards the next fool that tried to catch me with his hands. His eyes crossed as he looked at Myrra's dagger, now lodged in between his eyes.
I held my last 2 daggers in my hands, watching the remaining 6 men carefully. Somehow I'd ended up surrounded - odds I wasn't fond of at all. I kept my eyes on them, watching to see who would throw first. The tall dark haired one was first. He came at me with murder in his eyes - his sword drawn. I raised my daggers up to block the blow, but ended up laying on my back - my daggers sliding across the floor. As he swung the blade, I rolled to the left - his blade missing my head by inches. I kicked him in the groin, taking him down long enough for me to be met by another man's sword.
"A little help here Myrra!"
Before I could react, an arrow flew through the air, piercing the man's skull and killing him instantly. Finally! Some help! I swung around to see who had this gift of perfect aim...
"Whooo, bar fight!" Moira yelled. Moira, still drunk, grabbed a bottle and smashed it on the bar. "Oopies, too many pieces, won't work." Moira said. Moira then broke a leg off the bar stool and started hitting one of the men that was attacking Vasquez. He turned around and tried to punch Moira but she, surprisingly, was able to duck out of the way. She grabbed one of the daggers that had slid accross the floor, and stabbed him right through his stomach. She grabbed the rest of the daggers and threw some to Vasquez. "Hey, be careful with those, you almost hit me with one!" Vasquez said. "Oops, sorry." Moira said.
I watched as Vasquez rose from her spot beside the fire and headed out of the camp, following others who dared to leave the safety of camp in favor of the dangers of Death. I cursed under my breath and followed after her, staying far enough behind that she would not know I was following--she obviously did not think she needed my protection. "Foolish woman," I muttered under my breath. I appreciated the fact that she was a strong woman, but it was not a sign of weakness to lean on another who you knew would risk their lives for you. We had already ran into three Deathonians who obviously did not care for her, and now she was following others back to that horrid place where she was likely to run into more enemies.
I followed Vasquez to a tavern. She headed in, wrapping a cloth around her head to hide her small ears. Obviously she hoped she would not be recognized as a Deathonian travelling with outsiders. Something did not seem right with the entire situation. I watched through the window as Vasquez approached the group of our companions, speaking with the bartender and motioning for our friends to leave. Kith did not look as if he wanted to go--he was too fond of his drink.
Suddenly the cloth was yanked from Vasquez's head and she was surrounded. These people were not friendly, it seemed, and soon Vasquez was forced to dispatch some of the men who surrounded her, threatening her life. Cursing loudly I barged into the tavern, pushing through three large men who had been blocking the door, trying to prevent Vasquez and the others from leaving. My eyes were focused on Vasquez when the first blow hit me. One of the men I had shoved past--a tall one, his body pure muscle--had yanked me back towards him by my shoulder and punched me in my jaw. I hadn't fought like this in years, but I felt the familiar rage build within my body, yearning to escape. It was a rage I had held in, that I had tried hard to stifle. It could be stifled no more.
Everything seemed tinted with red as my left fist met the jaw of the man who had struck me first. He staggered back and came at me again, but I grabbed him by his shoulders and threw him headfirst into the bar behind me. He crumpled to the floor and I spit the blood that had seeped into my mouth onto his broken body. His companion then came for me, seeking revenge for his friend. With one fluid moment I had unsheathed my sword and cut his leg off at the knee. He fell to the floor groping the stump that remained and screaming in agony. I glared at the one remaining man and took one step towards him before he turned and ran from the tavern.
With those three taken care of, I turned my attention back to Vasquez. She was on the floor, kicking a man in the groin and forcing him down just as the blade of another man came towards her. Faster than a man's eye could follow I had pulled my bow from my back, taken an arrow from my quiver, and aimed it at the head of the man who dared threaten my love. Before I could release my string though, Myrra had dispatched the man with an arrow of her own. I reached Vasquez just after the arrow Myrra had shot had pierced the head of the man and he fell to the floor. PUtting my arrow back in my quiver and swinging the bow back around my back, I pulled out my sword once more, putting my body between Vasquez and the men who still lingered near her. They circled slowly and I met their steps in turn, keeping myself between them and Vasquez, giving her time to recuperate. We needed to get out of here, and I would stay until I was sure she was safe.
"Get up Vasquez. Stay behind me and we will make our way for the door. When we reach the door I expect you to leave and head back to camp. Keep Kith and the others safe. I will follow after you shortly." My words were barked like the orders I had given to others years ago, and I immediately regretted my tone. I could not chance an argument with her now though. I needed her to get to safety, and none of these men who had threatened her would live to tell of what happened here.
RPG: Myrra was thankful that Kheelan wasnt killed, however, she felt bad for the curse he was given.
The rest of the companions decided to stay out in the wilderness once again. Myrra though it was stupid. Just because Arion went missing....What the hell......we all established it has to be one of us. We're no safer from eachother in the wilderness than we are in an inn.
Feeling bored, Myrra decided to head to a bar in Death with a few other companions. She usually wasnt one to drink, but right now she was too stressed to care.
"What do you want". Kith laughed, already downing an ale. Myrra searched through her small money bag.
In no time she was completley intoxicated. No doubt making a fool of herself. She was lifting her drink, how many was it now? And totally missed.
A hand took the tankard and pushed back. She looked up at a stranger with her head wrapped in a scarf, and waved drunkingly before taking another sip, walking toward the door where the stranger was pushing her.
"I thought I recognized you. Vasquez." Hearing the name of someone she knew, Myrra turned. There was Vasquez, with an unreconizable awww crap look on her face. About ten people got up and surrounded her. In any normal state, Myrra would have rushed in to her side. However, it was safe to say that wasnt the case right now.
Vasquez immediatly started attacking them. Myrra laughed. "Oh lookie! Vasquez is killing people!" She pulled out one of her own daggers. "Maybe I should help" She said, holding the dagger about two inched from Vasquez's face while hiccupping. She took the dagger, and threw it at another person. However, in just a couple more minutes Vasquez was left in a hopeless situation, knocked to the ground and unarmed.
"A little help here Myrra!" She yelled. Myrra's drunken state realized that Vasquez was in danger. She pulled out her bow and shot the man who was about to slash Vasquez.
"Whoooo I hit him!!" She screamed, jumping up and down. She grabbed another arrow and shot at another person who began charging at her. Now.....this is fun!! She thought. Apparently fighting for your life was fun when drunk, who wouldve thought?
Suddenly, Myrra felt someone grab her hair. Before she could react, she was slammed into a wall. Dazed, she she looked up at one of the biggest people she had ever seen, who still had her pinned against the wall. He pulled out a sword and swung at her.
Myrra screamed, panicking. Realizing screaming wont do any good, she kneed him in....not quite a happy place. Her hair was let go, and she quickly dodged the blade. However not quite fast enough, as the sword still glazed her neck.
She scrambled away. However the man began swinging at her again. Myrra dodged, whipped out a dagger, and plundged it into the man's stomach. He dropped his sword, clutching his stomach. Myrra picked up his fallen blade and sliced his throat. She stood, holding the side of her neck. Great now Im gonna have a scar on my cheek and neck.
Myrra turned to the rest of the fighting. What should she do now?
"What makes that S'lass so good, anyway? I'm worth.. I'm hotter than him. Most girls throw themselves at me. I'm - just like that. Aren't I? Moira?"
Kith perched on the bar stool, as a dagger suddenly lodged itself right next to his ale. He tried to organise the information going into his brain, but after a few bottles it was getting a little fuzzy. Vakeck had just walked in, with a silly towel on her head or something of the sort. Yes, that was right. And now all of a sudden there was a huge brawl going on with bits of men and daggers everywhere.
Kith took another swig of his ale and stood up. No sooner had he got to his feet, two men smashed into the bar where he'd been sat. He moved quickly away from the men, catching his foot on a loose floorboard and falling flat on his face. The bottle in his hand smashed over a brawny-looking giant of a man, who stomped in outrage and swung round to find whoever had just drenched him with ale. Something gold and shiny bounced from his pocket, and across the uneven floor with a gentle ting sound.
The Ring! Panic filled Kith's thoughts, as he started crawling on all fours to retrieve it, with feet stomping around his head, and one or two people tripping over him, yelling, but the ring got kicked even further away! Kith cursed heavily under his breath. "Ring! Come heree.. Come to Kithy.." he chased after it; a severed and bloody hand landed in front of him, shortly followed by its owner, writhing in agony. Kith crawled over him, advancing on the little gold circle.
"GOTCHA!" he shouted triumphantly, grabbing the ring and returning it to his pocket. He grinned at his own genius, stood up, and drank heavily in victory from an abandoned bottle of ale. You deserve it, Kith ole boy.. Expert Ring-catcher.. He laughed to himself for a few moments. This was interrupted, however, by someone rudely grabbing him by the collar. He smelt a sudden overpowering ale, before he was turned to face the huge, ale-marinated muscle man. And he wasn't happy.
"I will follow after you shortly."
Did he really think I would leave? It seemed like everytime we killed a man, another took his place. I knew this bar, and there was only one other way in. With my daggers back in hand (courtesy of Moira), I charged at the man blocking my path to the bar. Despite his objections, my dagger pierced his neck, causing blood to spurt through the gaping wound. I pushed him over, practically running over the body in the process. I sailed over the bar, nearly tripping over the body of the bartender as I landed. With one flick of my wrist, the bar that bolted the door behind the bar was in place, keeping the remaining men locked in the back room. The door strained against the weight that was being thrust upon it from the other side.
"Vasquez!" Kith yelled. "Look out!"
I stood still, catching my breath - hands on hips. "Oh don't worry. That door is impossible to..." My words were interrupted by the sound of the door breaking down. "Crap!"
Three more men blocked my way out from behind the bar. I glanced over at Orehael, who was busy with his own group. I smiled sweetly as I tried to distract them. "Heh. Hey guys. Just one big misunderstanding here..." I stepped backwards and they stepped towards me. As fast as I was, I'd never get my daggers in them before they struck me down. I needed...something else.
That is when my eye caught it - hiding under the bar. I held my hands out to both sides, as if I were giving up. "See guys? Not even going for my daggers. Let's just call a truce here. Whaddya say?" I took another step backwards. "See? Both daggers, safely in my boot..."
The distraction worked. Their eyes were on my boot and not my hands. I reached under the counter, took out the sword and mustering up all the strength I had in me, I lopped the fools head off. My remaining daggers followed behind the fatal injury, taking down the two on either side. I ran to their bodies, pulling the daggers from their chests and wiping them off on their clothes.
I looked up just in time to see Kith being lifted off his feet by a very large, and somewhat smelly man.
Kheelan had used the healing properties from a couple of plants that he pounded together, as he rubbed them on the wound as he winced he watched the cut on his shoulder magically disappear, however a striking pain remained in his heart.
He felt honoured that he was chosen, but his adrenaline mustn't've been enough, he thought to himself that the other companions would think him a weakling, he knew for the sake of Arion that he must fight on even if that mean that everyone was turned against him, he would still fight on, proudly and boldly.
As a dull ache throbbed in his shoulder his hands shaking violently from the scare and the rush, he started pondering on the 3 chosen one's.
He remembered the chosen places, in one conversation that he and Arion had while the other's were sleeping it was always Arion's love to go and visit Lethys he smiled and definitely chose this as his location.
"Hopefully your location will bring us some luck my love"
He also looked around as he began choosing the people whom to sacrifice, he felt terrible as he was thankful for the one's that helped him.
He was not as strong as he thought he was as he questioned himself, he felt not like he let down his love, but himself and his campanions.
There was a lonely silence throughout camp even with the sound of Silas’s violin… quite a few of our companions had gone into the tavern to get drunk. I was looking around to see who was still here; I wanted to close my eyes and take it the soft music; then I saw Lynnia at the fire poking it with a stick. I walked up to her rubbing my arms “it’s a cold night,” I said still trying to keep warm. “This silence is piercing through the night air… nothing good will come.” I could hear a lot of shouting off in the distance… I knew instantly… trouble was brewing.
She didn't listen. Why did I think she would? The woman was impossible. Instead, Vasquez had jumped over the bar and bolted a door locked, straining to keep it closed with her own weight. There were obviously men on the other side and I heard the cracking of wood coming from behind her. I could not aid her though, as I was being circled by the group of men that had at one time been focused on Vasquez. I was waiting for one to make their move, but I couldn't stay and play with these dolts any longer than necessary. Vasquez would surely be in trouble as soon as that door broke.
I took one step towards a man in front of me, plunging my sword into his stomach and pulling it down and out. He fell to his knees yelling in pain as his insides fell into his hands. I heard boots behind me quicky approaching and spun to see a giant of man running at me full force, his shoulder dropped, intending to knock me to the ground. As I spun, I brought my sword up over my head and sidestepped the rushing giant, bringing my sword down cleanly across his kneck. His head rolled to the wall while his body fell, twitching and convulsing.
Another man came out me, his arm outstretched for some reason I could not fathom, and I couldn't help but laugh at how ridiculous he looked. I easily stepped to the side and brought my sword down upon his wrist. As I saw the hand fall from its arm, I noticed Kith scrambling about on the ground. He was crawling after something...the ring! I saw the glint of gold as Kith rushed towards it. "Fool!" I shouted just as Kith grabbed the ring, shoved it into his pocket and stood up with a triumphant smile on his face. The boy actually stood and took a drink of his ale--as if he were not in a dire circumstance at the moment! Suddenly a burly man had grabbed him by his collar and lifted him from the ground.
I moved towards Kith quickly, my feet stepping upon a few men who laid on the floor, the life either gone from their body or their consciousness escaped from the pain. I ran towards Kith, hoping to save his life. Before I could reach him, however, someone else's blade pierced the man who held him and Kith fell to the floor with a thump.
You have to be kidding me, how many people can there be?
Myrra was still drunk, and still fighting. Surrounded by ten people, she raised the two swords she had picked up off some recent victims. Kith slumped by, muttering something about good rings coming to Kithy.
Seven of her attackers lunged at once. Myrra went to the only place there seemed left to go to avoid the blades. On the ground.
She spun around quickly, slicing at the ankled of all of them, cutting off two feet entirely. When Myrra stood up, only two of her attackers were left standing, as the other eight were on the floor in agony. In one swift motion, she stabbed one through the throat the the other in his stomach.
Myrra turned to see Kith being lifted up off the ground. She ran in, raising her blades, and stabbed the man who held him. Kith fell to the ground, and Myrra felt someone else grab her from behind.
RP: Durin winced with the rest of the companions, cowering and covering their gaping mouths as Kheelan honorably fought Umi. All his hits missed her laughing face, but he fought ferociously until he simply could no longer, and fell to the ground, gasping for air and weak for his pain. Durin cried out in fear, only to drop to his knees when Umi walked over to Kheelan, shoved a small rock into his mouth, yet thankfully left the choking Kheelan. He’s alive. Oh, thank you.
Durin spent a fretful night pacing the part of the city the companions had confined themselves to. He felt the next sacrifice was coming soon, and the anticipation was gnawing at his insides. One third dead. Just can’t believe it, he thought hazily. He was holding yet another mild ale in his hands, but had yet to let the liquor touch his lips. I think I’d like to have my wits about me tonight. Something feels wrong.
He continued to walk about the area for the rest of the night. He was shocked to see how some of the companions were affected as well. Amethyst, who he noted was looking just as lovely as ever with her fierce face and entrancing eyes, startled him by setting up her tent with no visible physical movements. So here is another magic user among us, he mused. He left hastily however, running from the blush that began creeping up his neck after he saw the hard look Amethyst threw at him and the other gaping companions. Apparently she feels she cannot hide her powers tonight. Durin also noticed Moria, who always appeared rather calm and strong, running around the area nervously. Could she too feel the anticipation in the air?
Yet the night passed with little event, and soon Durin was gathering his sack of food and personal belongings (noting how little he had gotten to use the cologne he had bought specially for this adventure – not at all) from his tent, and joining the rest of the companions as they tried to make their way to the boarders of death, arguing as they debated which city they should travel to next, and (Durin noted with a shiver), furtively scribbling down who they felt should be sacrificed. However, as the companions were passing a lonely stone building, Durin noted with surprise three hooded figures. Durin edged toward Kith, who was white in the face, and clearly sweaty. He seemed to have especially sweaty hands, for he kept grabbing at his pocket and from what Durin could tell was wiping his hands furiously. He stood nervously between Kith and the hooded ones. He had no idea what they were looking for, and not sure why he felt so strongly that Kith was hiding something, but felt compelled to act upon his intuition.
Later that day, as the company rested beneath shady trees and complacently munching on their provisions, Durin sat down on the grass to try and guess which neighboring city could possibly contain the palace. I hardly even understand this mission. But… I feel if we don’t get there soon, we can only continue to be hurt… He gave a slight jump as he noticed Haydar standing next to him. “Hello, Haydar,” Durin said quietly, giving Haydar a grin, and patting the ground next to him, indicating Haydar a seat. Haydar gave him a nod, and pounced into the speech he had clearly been preparing.
"I think we should go to Hinith. I know that this place is even more horrible than Death, but that could be a reason for it to be the place of the Hidden Palace. What do you think?" Durin stared at Haydar. He clearly was a perceptive man, perhaps a little older than Durin himself, with a strong lean body, and a clear and direct mind. Durin paused, feeling he owed Haydar a well thought out answer, when he felt a rush of cool air, and saw Amethyst, who had been sitting near them peacefully, had walked over to answer the question herself. Durin turned away from the mature perceiving woman. Feeling he wanted a drink, and fast, he tapped Haydar on the shoulder, who was listening to Amethyst attentively. “Bye,” he nodded, licking his lips. He gave Amethyst a bow of his head, and walked off.
Durin strolled about the camp the companions had made. The light was quickly waning, and he still felt unsure of who to sacrifice, or which place to go. There was so much to be lost if he chose wrong… Giving up after several hours of contemplation and drawing in the muddy riverbank (he remembered his strong talent in art that he had when being tutored – how long ago it felt!), he stood up shakily, and walked over to a small brightly lit building a while’s walk away from their set camp.
Well, my dear liver that has served me well over the years, ready or not, here I go! Durin launched himself into the bar, whistling out of tune to a half remembered song. He was astounded at what he found.
Several bodies lay in a several small pools and splatters of blood. Several companions had their blades out, and Kith was lying on the ground, gasping for air. A large man, swaying with ale, stood above him, panting at a pain in his arm. Myrra, her long vibrant red hair falling over her face, was doubled over in a pair of large and hairy arms. Durin stopped dead. “What on Middle Earth?”
Kith fell to the ground with a thump. He felt his throat; it was tight, and hard to force air down. He practised breathing for a few seconds, just to test everything was okay. Looking up to see what had happened to his would-be muderer, he saw the huge smelly man was swaying slightly, looking dazed. A few moments later, he'd collapsed on the floor, his face blank. Kith looked up to see who had saved him, but all he saw was Myrra, struggling with some guy who'd just grabbed her from behind.
He acted surprisingly quickly for one so drunk (and oxygen deprived). Snatching the empty bottle off the table, he smashed it over the head of Myrra's attacker. With a snarl, the guy made to turn round. In doing so, he lost his balanace and his consciousness, and dropped to the floor. Kith grinned, holding the broken bottle still and slightly amazed by his own strength. "Kith Thirlmére, expert ring-catcher and regular hero at your service" he slurred.
It can end before June 1st. :) If you don't find the palace by June 1st, I will post the results regardless.
But this contest can also end if the is the same number of traitors as companions+fairy+third force+everlasting companions.
So say there are 9 traitors and 9 companions. Traitors would win and kill all of the companions.
Andymy- That is fine; I don't see anything wrong with it. :) Incase anyone is wondering, you are allowed to make one last post after you die, but it must be a letter and you cannot accuse/hint who is a traitor or say bad things about characters.
SpacemanHPSpiff that was just an example lol. But it's possible I guess lol. Actually everyone is a traitor j/k lol.
MagicBeans, well not everyone will die in the end. Only a specific group will stay alive though.
I turned to Kith, who had pulled himself off of the floor and aided Myrra with the last attacker. He stood by Myrra's side still, broken bottle in hand. "You need to keep a better hold on that trinket, young Kith," I said softly, offering a faint smile to him. Then, turning to the others I spoke, "If any of these men remain alive, and they have seen what Kith carries, we will be in danger. I leave it to you to decide if you wish to leave any that remain alive, or dispatch of them."
Vasquez emerged from behind the bar just as Durin came through the door. He was understandably shocked at the scene before him. "What on Middle Earth?"
Kith, who had sat down on a bar stool again, looked at Durin and laughed. "I guess the ale's free now."
I shook my head slowly, not believing the boy could make light of such a situation. He carried the ring. He was in more danger than us all...yet he remarked of free ale! I turned my attention from Durin and Kith to Vasquez, taking her by the elbow and ushering her to the door.
"Hey!" Vasquez's objection was probably due to the tight grip I had on her, but I needed to get her alone. Some words needed to be said. I ignored her objection and pushed through the door, waiting for it to close behind us before releasing her. She turned to me, her eyes angry and confused as she rubbed the spot that I had been grasping.
"Are you mad woman?! What on Middle Earth is the matter with you?!" I could not hold back, and wondered not if my yells could be heard by the others within the tavern.
Vasquez opened her mouth to speak but I did not let her. "You could have been killed in there! And for what? For nothing! They would have been fine if not for you! If you had not entered that tavern, none would have been put in danger! But you didn't think, did you?!" I paused but only for effect. As soon as Vasquez looked as if she would speak I interrupted again, "You didn't think what would happen if you were recognized! You didn't think what would happen if you were killed! You didn't think of me! You didn't think once about me, did you?! I could have went to fetch them if you so desired and no harm would have come! But you...you marched right into danger not caring! Not caring enough to tell me of where you went! Not caring enough to think of what would become of me without you! Do you even care at all or am I merely something to pass your time?!"
My eyes were narrow as my words ended. My yells, my train of thought had brought everything to light. She didn't care...not truly. If she had she would not have put herself in danger with the chance of leaving me forever. I saw in her eyes raw emotion, but I knew not what emotion it was. Anger? Hate?
Myrra cursed herself for foolishly dropping her two swords out of surprise. The large man lifted her clear off the ground. She struggled, kicking him in the calfs.
"Let go of me!" She screamed, "I can kick your a** you have no idea who your dealing with put me down now!!"
Before she could yell anymore, the unmistakable sound of shattering glass was heard just above her head, and the man dropped her. Myrra immediatly scooped up one of her dropped swords for defense. However, by the time she turned around, the man had fallen to the floor unconscious.
"Kith Thirlmére, expert ring-catcher and regular hero at your service"
Myrra looked up at Kith, and went to cut the man's throat. She knew now that Kith had the ring, both from what he just said and she witnessed him chasing it across the ground during the struggle, and it was only common sense that nobody could live after knowing that information.
Kith made his way back to the bar and sat down, eyeing all the bodies that littered the room. "I guess the ale's free now." He laughed, before immediatly downing a whole mug. Myrra threw her blade to the side and watched, slightly awestuck that the recent seriousness of the situation still hasnt gotten through to him. She turned to see Orehael drag a protesting Vasquez from the bar. Only a moment passed before she heard him yelling.
Myrra turned, sounds like someones a bit overprotective, the thought, meandering over to the bar where Kith sat, not wanting to walk in on such a situation between the couple.
She stood up one of the only stools that wasnt completley shattered and sat on it. She took up a napkin and held it to her bleeding neck, resting her elbow on the surface beside her. The fighting, she noticed, had reirritated her leg injury and once again Myrra felt she was going to be limping everywhere. Other than that, the cut on her neck, and the blood splattered randomly over her, which was quickly being added to due to her rapidly bleeding neck, she seemed fine, something that really amazed her seeing as she was, and still is, quite drunk.
At least Im not as bad as Kith. Her eyes fell on her fellow companion, who was gulping down yet another drink.
Vasquez was yelling back now. After a couple more moments of yelling, all was silent.
Myrra waited a couple more moments before deciding she wanted to head back. She turned to Duran, who also seemed to be listening to the fight, and motioned toward Kith.
"Hes gonna drink himself dead if we dont stop him." She said, taking the latest tankard from his hands. "Lets get him back, come on."
They walked outside, neither Orehael nor Vasquez was anywhere to be seen. Myrra noticed she was beginning to feel a bit lightheaded, like she was about to pass out. She shook it off, Its nothing, she told herself, and they set off in the direction of the woods.
Each holding one of his arms, Duran and Myrra dragged an incredibally drunk Kith back to the campsite.
My last one for today:(. In the meantime, feel free to godmod Myrra all you want:D
"Do you even care at all or am I merely something to pass your time?!"
His words cut me deeper than any injuries I'd sustained in the fight. Unfortunately, my anger was building as well. "You do not own me Orehael! I came here because I know that they would not have been fine in here. They would have, most likely, been kidnapped, tortured and killed...after those men took everything from them, including the ring!"
He stared down at me as his left eye twitched. "Yes, I know that Kith has the ring because you, my love, are a horrible liar." I was on a roll and wouldn't stop until I was done. "You are mad at me for coming here and trying to save Kith? For trying to save the ring from getting in their hands? Do you realize what would happen should they get their hands on that little bit of 'worthless metal'?" I choked on the words that were in my throat. "And I couldn't tell you Orehael. I already almost lost you once. You seem to think that you are the only one that took a vow back in Clo. Did you forget my vow to you?"
His eyes softened slightly, but his anger was firm. I lowered my voice slightly as my anger was fading. "I didn't tell you that I was coming here because I love you...because I'd be lost without you. Because...I don't want to go through what Kheelan is going through. Yes, I was selfish, but you must admit Orehael that your need to protect me is selfish as well."
I paused, giving him a chance to say something but he stayed quiet. "I do love you Orehael...more than I've loved anyone before. But I won't change for anyone. Either love me as I am, or take your leave."
I turned away, my heart breaking. The walk back to camp was a somber one. I thought over my actions, wondering if anything Orehael said was true. Had I put them in danger? Would they have been fine without me butting in? Perhaps....but no. Kith held the ring, and they would have gotten from him quite easily, as he proved by fumbling all over the bar for it. Orehael was wrong. I had saved their lives, not caused the fight.
I stopped to look behind me, certain I'd find him lurking in the shadows, keeping an eye on me. For the first time since I'd met him, Orehael was nowhere to be seen.
I'd lost him. Just like everyone else that I'd loved, he would be gone from me. No one could ever accept me as I am...even Saxton had tried to change me. I got back to camp and approached Lynnia & Serenity who sat at the campfire. "I need..." I tried getting my words out, but the ground was suddenly swaying around me. "I need a healer." I stumbled into my tent, where I fell onto my bedroll, the blood from a gash in my thigh oozing through my clothing and onto the ground.
OOC- I go away to work for ten hours and when I get home I find I missed the bestest bar fight ever. I feel a little like Charlie Brown on Halloween. Instead of "I got a rock," it's "I poked a fire." LOL!!!!!! That'll teach me to go to work instead of staying home to monitor this game.
Magic- if you don't like this let me know and I'll change it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
As I sat tending the fire I heard from above, "it’s a cold night." I looked up at Serenity.
"This silence is piercing through the night air… nothing good will come," she continued. I nodded.
"Already our trip to Death has cost us. I fear those sounds we hear will add more misery," I said. "Would you care to join me? It will be a long night and I don't think any will get much sleep." As she gracefuly sat down, I looked around camp to try to get a sense of who all was embroiled in the fighting we heard.
Kith, Myrra, Vasquez, Orehael, Layre, Moira, and Durin, I thought to myself.
Serenity and I talked quietly of trivial things for a while. I watched Vasquez reenter the camp and walk over to us.
"I need," she started then stopped as she swayed. "I need a healer," she mumbled then stumbled to her tent.
"Serenity, try to find Layre, or Kheelan, or Algernon or somebody." She nodded and took off. I entered Vasquez's tent and knelt beside her. There was already a pool of blood on the ground. Through a rip in her clothing I saw the nasty gash on her thigh. I ripped the clothing further, and grabbing a rag I found, pressed it against the gash. Vasquez moaned. I'd done all I could do for her, as I was no healer.
"Lost Orehael. Doesn't love," she muttered. Where was Orehael? I'd never seen them apart.
"He does love you Vasquez," I tried to reassure her. "I'm not an expert in love, but he does love you. You can see it in his eyes when he looks at you."
Hurry Serenity, I thought. I didn't know if she was injured enough to die, but if she did, it would kill Orehael as well.
OHMG!! lol Amethyst is dead.... unfortunately. *cries* Oh, well. Here goes an RP.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amethyst sat down by the fire, oblivious to the pain that hearing her name called every time inflicted upon her. She had thought that they might approach her first instead of making these wild accusations towards her, but to no avail. Her careless display of magical powers had sealed her fate. Amethyst slowly let a tear fall to the warm soil, making a tiny crater in front of a startled ant.
It alas came to be her turn to suggest a sacrifice, or in this case, four. "I nominate...."

Sacrifice: Vasquez
Person #1: Myrra
Person #2: Orahael

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amethyst hurried back to her tent shortly after the sacrifice session had been finished. Many members chose to give their votes in private this time, but Amethyst had that gut feeling that her time was soon up. It was time for her to depart... back to where she belonged. She hastily packed up most of her belongings with magic, sealing them from the elements of time as her return soon approached. Amidst the bar fight down the road, Amethyst sought the comfort of meditation in her tent. "This is the last of this refreshingly clean air I'll be breathing... at least for a while."
Suddenly the tent flap opened. Amethyst ended her meditation, bearing her arms in a traditional magic-battle pose. Haydar poked his head in.
"Amethyst. Are you ok?"
"Oh, I'm sorry Haydar I didn't know it was you," she replied at the startled look on his face at her pose. She stood up and brushed herself off. "I suppose I'll have to deal. It must be my time to go..." She let her voice trail off.
"Um, I just came back to finish our conversation earlier."
"Oh, yea... about that." Amethyst bit her lip, "Look. I'll tell you if I survive this sacrifice. But if I don't, you'll find out anyway."
A puzzled look clouded Haydar's fair features, as if he was searching for a reply...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
lol Ok. :p That was enough to keep you hooked. Since Amethyst *looks at votes* is going to die this round, you won't have long to wait what she is really up to. :nod:

After Vasquez stumbled into her tent I took off to find Layre… I glanced around and couldn’t see her. I saw Kheelan… he looked like a crumbled mess on the ground. I surveyed the area again looking for anyone else but couldn’t find anyone. I hastened toward him; I know I heard a very faint "Help me.”
As I stood over Kheelan he slowly glanced toward me; I tried to avoid his gaze but couldn’t. I could tell he didn’t like me and I wanted to cry… “I’m sorry;” I started “I’m so sorry for all the pain I had caused… I’m sorry I voted you as the traitor… you looked suspicious to me with Arion gone missing after you and her…” I heard the noise from Vasquez’s tent. “I know you don’t owe me anything and I wouldn’t ask but it’s not for me… Vasquez is hurt bad… I know you know a great deal of healing… she’s in her tent... can you help?” I didn’t give him time to answer; I think I was more afraid of what I knew he could do to me than what was going on with Vasquez. I turned to leave saw Layre… “Layre,” I yelled startling even myself. As I ran toward her she knew the urgency in my manor. “Vasquez is hurt badly… she needs a healer. I tried to find you right away… come.”

Elroen walked slowly out of Madeline's tent.
As he walked out he heard someone screaming: “Vasquez is hurt badly… she needs a healer. I tried to find you right away… come.”
Suddenly Serenity passed next to him runnig.
"What's going on?" shouted Elroen
"Something's wrong with Vasquez." replied Serenity
"Maybe I could help you."
Both of them ran towards Vasquez' tent.

No problem Magic, the thing is that I already got 4 votes against me, and it makes me angry that people vote against others just because someone else did it or said something.
Snowdrop that does look like pn! Maybe you're right! *Travels to pn*
Sorry Pandrito. Just so you know though, I didn't vote for you because MagicBeans did. I named you because you replaced Dell and the role that Dell had. I was suspicious of Dell...which means I'm suspicious of you. Sorry.
EDIT: Looking at Isolde's neck again. I think the last letter is m. I think it says Pncm. The Pn looks just like the name of the place on the map, but the last thing (that I think is 'm') does not look like that. In the Pn there is a line that touches the downstroke. Not so in the last letter on Isolde's neck. That one looks like the beginning of the letter 'm' on the map.
EDIT: snipped out my suspicions of usernames so people can make their own assumptions without undue influence. Sorry all that I had listed here before.

@ Derange: I would pay attention to Silas but I've used my 3 RPs...and Orehael probably wouldn't be too happy to see his name on Silas's list...

"Yes Serenity, I will help Vasquez and there is no need to apologise about chosing me to fight, I thankyou for doing so as you helped me to release the anger that I have been feeling about Arion's passing, well actually there's something she left for me at our secret place and its greatly healed my heart, I am at peace, but its something I will l tell you later when I have healed Vasquez" "Thankyou" she whispered "Your welcomed Serenity" he smiled curteously.
Kheelan had carefully peered into their tent as he carefully studied the injuries on Vasquez's body, Orehael was kneeling beside her holding her hand tightly, he went deep into the forest to gather the required berries and plants, he knew that he needed some seaweed which was hidden in the lake as he dived into it retrieving one of the essential healing properties.
Kheelan had carefully pounded the berries together, but had mixed the seaweed and a variety of other plant extracts together in a clockwise and anti-clockwise, he could hear voices coming from her tent especially Orehael's as he soothed her, he paused for a moment and actually smiled for the couple remembering the short but well lived moments with Arion, the letter had rejubilated him and in a long tell he felt happy.
Finally a couple of hours later the healing medicine was complete, a nice soothing purple liquid had formed, Vasquez gritted her teeth and her eyes bored into his as she resented needing the help but somehow she knew to reject such would be ridiculous and in desperation she took the cup from Kheelan which contained the soothing purple liquid.
"It won't taste like pumpkin soup sorry Vasquez, but it will help you lull into a deep sleep and hopefully by tomorrow morning the pain should be gone"
Orehael was staring at Kheelan in a cussing way, Kheelan excused himself from the tent and gave them some time together. Outside the tent he removed the letter from his vine bag that he made himself and read Arion's letter carefully.
"I will do everything right by you my love and I will make sure you rest well, I feel somewhere in my heart that you are still alive whether in spirit or not, but I pray that I am not getting my hopes up Arion as I so want to be in your arms again, where ever please be safe and do remember that I love you too Arion, very much as much as our tale was short lived, you mean so much more to me than the very beings of our moon"
Serenity had broken his chance as she thanked him for what he did, he shrugged and said it was nothing.
"I do have one to confess, I believe from a letter that I found at our secret spot that Arion is still alive waiting by the Hidden Palace, somehow some way, I've got to get there with the campanions, all I want to do is help everyone and especially Arion, I don't bring harm to no one unless they somehow have hurt the one's I want" "I pray for your heart that Arion is still alive" "I pray I haven't read this letter wrong Serenity, it would be so nice even if it meant myself discovering her body and resting it at the palace, I will do so to bring her soul to rest" Kheelan solemnly made his way back to where he loved being is by the river where most of his memories with Arion were created.

When Serenity had returned with Kheelan, I quickly left the tent so he'd have room to treat Vasquez. Once outside though, I was restless. I wasn't really tired and I had no desire for music or reading.
A walk that's what I want, I thought to myself. Just a nice evening stroll. I went to the fire and lit a small torch then headed out of camp. I told no one where I was going for I didn't think I'd be gone long, plus I really didn't think anyone would miss me.
I walked in the night, enjoying the warm breeze as it rustled through the trees. All around me the nocturnal creatures sang their harmonious song. I discovered a small waterfall and sat beside it. It was peaceful and I finally felt myself starting to unwind. I had been gone perhaps an hour when I decided to head back to camp. I was happy to have found one decent thing about Death. Lost in thought I didn't notice I wasn't alone until a hand grabbed my upper arm and a gruff voice growled, "where you running off to missy? I'm in the mood for some company."
I turned slightly and looked into a leering face. He was unshaven and unkempt and looked like he'd last had a bath about 20 years ago. His body odor mixed with the liquor on his breath was enough to make my gorge rise. He was not tall, but was muscular, and his hand grasped me so tightly that I knew I'd have a bruise. He had been drinking, but was not drunk, and his eyes gleamed with a madness that frightened me. I knew I couldn't let him see or sense my fear.
In the strongest voice I could muster I coldly said, "Let go of my arm, or I will scream and my companions will come to my aid."
He laughed. "Your camp is about a mile and a half down the road. Even if you did scream, how fast do you think they'd be able to get here?"
Oh uh, this was rapidly getting worse. He was right of course. Even if someone did hear me by the time they reached me it would be too late.
I don't want to die in Death, ran crazily through my head.
"C'mon honey, you look friendly." He leered at me.
I still held my torch and I realized that was the only defense I had. I leaned closer to him and felt his grasp loosen a bit. That was the opportunity I was waiting for and I brought up the smouldering torch and shoved it into his face. Momentarily blinded, and in pain, he screamed and released my arm. Without a look back I ran towards camp. My heart was beating wildly in my chest, but I didn't slow down until I saw the fire of camp. Only when I was close enough to see people moving around did I stop and risk a look back. The path was clear. I caught my breath then walked back into camp, berating myself the whole time for my stubborness and stupidity. I knew I had been lucky this time. I tried to slip back in unobtrusively, but failed. For the second time that night I failed to notice I was not alone.
"Serenity mentioned that she saw you leave camp. You should really tell someone next time you leave." I whirled in fear, sure I'd been followed. Instead of my would-be attacker I saw Algernon. He took in my disheveled look and his eyes narrowed.
"You startled me. I, I didn't see you sitting there," I stammered.
"Are you alright? You seem troubled."
I'm fine," I told him.
"Um humm. And you are a terrible liar. What's happened." The last was asked in such a concerned voice, it was my undoing. I sat down and dully told him what had happened.
"Show me," he demanded when I said how the man had grabbed me. I raised my sleeve and there was the bruise already forming. He swore under his breath, and motioned me to continue.
"Go to bed Lynnia. You need rest," he said after I had finished.
"Where are you going," I asked as he stood. He smiled the hard smile that make people wary of him.
"I'm restless myself. I think I'll take a walk." Before I could say another word, he had turned and quickly disappeared into the night.

"You are mad at me for coming here and trying to save Kith? For trying to save the ring from getting in their hands? Do you realize what would happen should they get their hands on that little bit of 'worthless metal'?" Vasquez's words made perfect sense. She was ensuring that the ring would not fall into the hands of enemies. What she did not know was that if I had to choose between losing her or losing the ring, I would rather lose the latter. I cared not for the ring, nor for its destruction if it meant I would lose her in the process. She began speaking again, interrupting my train of thought. "And I couldn't tell you Orehael. I already almost lost you once. You seem to think that you are the only one that took a vow back in Clo. Did you forget my vow to you?"
I remembered our vow to one another. I know that she vowed to protect me, but I did not follow her reasoning. She had not been protecting me by following after the others without telling me--she had been hurting me. Did she not trust me enough to at least accompany her? Did she not think me capable of fetching the others back to camp? Did she think that if she were to die and I had no chance to save her or even any way to know of her death, that somehow that would protect me? That would kill me just as surely, and probably quicker, than falling to another's blade.
Her voice lowered, but I still did not look at her. The anger inside me was still there, partially the rage from the battle that had overflowed within me, and partially my own selfish need to protect her. "I didn't tell you that I was coming here because I love you...because I'd be lost without you. Because...I don't want to go through what Kheelan is going through. Yes, I was selfish, but you must admit Orehael that your need to protect me is selfish as well."
She paused, but I said nothing. Selfish...yes, I was selfish. I needed her. I could not live without her, I would not want to live without her. What did she expect me to say? "Okay then, no problem...go ahead and risk your life whenever you see fit. I'll just stand over here and watch as you rush into danger and I'll hope you don't die." Absurd!
"I do love you Orehael...more than I've loved anyone before. But I won't change for anyone. Either love me as I am, or take your leave."
She thought I wanted to change her? No. Never would I wish to change her. I want only to protect her, but how am I to protect her from herself? How was I to convince her to not rush into danger? How was I to convince her that I could be trusted enough to protect her and that I needed only her love, not her protection? I watched as she walked away from me. My heart screamed to follow her, to wrap her in my arms, apologize and assure her that I wanted nothing more than her, just as she was. But my pride would not allow it.
My pride...I thought I had lost that long ago. Yet here I stood, my curse of pride rooting me firmly to the ground. I stood there a while, not sure what to do next or where to go. For the first time since I began this journey, I felt like walking away. This was too...complicated. I wanted nothing more at that moment than to take Vasquez and run...far away from this place...far away from this journey. Then we could be happy...alone and happy. I sighed heavily, realizing that those thoughts were nothing more than fantasy. We were on this journey and neither one of us could turn back now. We had come too far, lost too many to simply turn and walk away. I could only hope that we would survive long enough to see this journey's end.
I looked towards camp and noticed that Vasquez had disappeared quickly into the trees. Finally my body moved and I walked briskly towards camp. When I arrived, however, she was nowhere to be seen. Oh heavens, please tell me she did not get into more trouble on the walk back here...
I walked up to the first person I saw, "Have you seen Vasquez? She left me in town and now I cannot find her." The worry in my voice was apparent, but when I saw the worry in the eyes of the person before me, my heart stopped. She was wounded, lieing in a tent and no one was sure how bad her injury was. Serenity had gone to find a healer. I rushed into the tent where I was told I would find Vasquez, and I found her lieing upon some blankets, her eyes closed and a wound in her leg seeping blood. I rushed to her side and took her hand in mine, bringing her fingers to my lips.
"Oh Vasquez. Please, please don't leave me. Never did I think I would meet a creature such as you--so full of courage and strength, and unending love. You are perfect. You cannot leave me, my love. Please. Without you I would be lost. Without you I would no longer have a will to live. I would cease my very existence to join you in the Hall of Madros. Please, do not leave me." I felt the tears stinging my eyes as they rolled freely down my cheeks. "If you live I vow to always protect you, to always fight by your side. Never again shall I ask of you to deny your heart. Protect whomever or whatever you wish, my love, and I will aid you...if only you live."
I sat crying next to the woman I had come to love, squeezing her hand and kissing her fingers. I looked at her face once more and found her eyes to be open, looking at me. "Orehael?" she asked.
"Yes! Yes, my love it is I. I am..." I choked on tears and could not finish my words, hoping that my eyes said everything I was feeling...or that she had somehow heard my earlier plea for her to live.
Suddenly the flap of the tent was pulled back and Kheelan approached us. He had a liquid in his hands...something to heal Vasquez's wounds. I eyed him suspiciously, though in my heart I knew he was helping. I would thank him later. Now though I could focus on only Vasquez. She downed the liquid quickly and Kheelan smiled reassuringly before leaving the tent. I held Vasquez's hand, waiting for her to sleep and recover as Kheelan claimed she would...wondering if she had any words for me. How I longed to hear her voice, to hear her say I was forgiven.

Finally I reached Amethyst's tent and thought I should try to finish our conversation.
She was surprised when I entered and looked as if she was about to hit me until she realized that it was just me.
I asked her again about the woman but she just said "Look. I'll tell you if I survive this sacrifice. But if I don't, you'll find out anyway." I wanted to shake her. She was worrying about being nominated for the sacrifice and the same time she was so mysterious! I had decided to trust her but nobody really knew her ... I could partially understand the others ... "Please, Amethyst ... You need to show that you are trustworthy ... That you are innocent!" I said. "I cannot protect you if they really want to kill you, I am not a fighter, you know?!" I was a little desperate. She was saying nothing, but looked very sad. We just sat there, silent. After some time she took a deep breathe. Then ...

Algernon was very concerned about the incident with Lynnia. He walked down the path she came from, knowing something had gone wrong. His thoughts pondered until he came across a man, bent over, moaning.
"Damn Bitch......ing torch in the face c....." he rambled on.
"Sir? Can I help you?" Algernon asked.
The man rambled on, talking about how some cruel woman had blinded him with a torch and ran off. Algernon knew immediately this man had assaulted Lynnia. He beckoned for the man to rise. The man's face was burnt and scarred, his eyes swollen.
"Can I........" he stopped
Algernon swung his sword around, BEHEADING the villain. Algernon remarked about the scum, and spit on the mans head. When he returned, Lynnia was relieved to see him, but noticed the large bloodstain across his cloak. Algernon told her everything, in cold detail.

Vasquez was right when she told me we had to give four names instead of one. Very well, if that's the game chance wanted to play with us, then so be it. As I walked around the camp, I was not quite over my experience so would not leave camp alone, names ran through my mind. All around me I heard people saying the cities we should go to and what clues were leading them there. Every reason sounded plausible and correct, but as I looked at the map I saw the suggested cities were all at the furtherest corner from us.
Might as well start in Lethys and work our way down, I thought. The names were a little harder to come up with. Finally, after much soul searching I wrote my suggestions down.

I think I've figured it out.
There are 4 darker stones in this circle, more likely than not, to represent 4 traitors.
Now, look at the top darker stone. The northern one. IF you look in the pool below it, and to the right a bit, you see what looks like a pointing finger, pointing at it. From this, I gather, is number one.
Now there are 20 stones, and 19 of us. Im guessing this was the closest 123 found. Now, if we take that the top dark stone is number one, and go around, we get the numbers.
1
4
8
12
Essentially, each 4 away. I think this has to do with how our roles were selected. Now, if we take those numbers, and compare them to the contestants sheet we get:
1.Silas LaCroix/Derange
4.Vasquez/MagicBeans
8.Serenity Bryce/NayanRose
12.Durin Fulcwine/SpacemanHPSpiff
And those 4 could be traitors!
What do you think?

I think it's a nice try Infernal. :lol: Those are the only rocks facing in the other direction so they would naturally have a shadow on them. I think this is a hint as to where the palace is. The water and sand must mean something. Or the way the glints in the water line up. The water was obviously photoshopped in. The shadowing looks very natural to me.
Plus, true there are 19 people left and 20 rocks, but there are also 23 cities. We know it's not in Yopen, Apple Caves, Clo, Death and - the one the old lady said. Coron? That's 5, which could account for 5 of the 8 empty ones on the left hand side. Then we decoded the symbol on Eleniel's neck, pn, so there's #6 and Woohoo found Doof (food) and Eid (Die) so there's 7 & 8. I think it's a clue to the place.

--- RP ---
The potion that Kheelan gave me made me gag as I drank it. It was the worst stuff I'd ever tasted. Before I could protest, I was asleep.
I was floating off to another land - somewhere far from here. Although I could see no colors, I could tell the land was the most beautiful my eyes had ever held. I stood alone in the middle of a forest, dressed in a gown made of white linen and gold thread. The light burst through the trees, illuminating the ground below. Although it was a bright light, it covered me in warmth and was not blinding to my eyes. The trees surrounded me, trapping me in my spot.
From a distance, I could see two figures. It appeared to be two men. As they approached, I recognized them as Saxton and Orehael. They said nothing and instead simply stood amongst the trees, beckoning to me with their souls. I stood frozen in my spot, trapped by the trees, as Saxton faded from view.
http://magicbeanssims.com/contest/hp/OVWedding3.jpg
Orehael took me in his arms, pledging his undying love to me. As he spoke, the trees opened up - providing a path for us. Hand in hand, we started down the path together.
"Are you okay my love?" Why was he asking if I was okay? The path is beautiful. Of course I'm okay.
"Vasquez?" My eyes shot opened as I tried to get my bearings. Where was I? We were headed on our journey together and...
I was dreaming. It was only a dream. I was still in this hellhole of a city. Still on this blasted journey. "How is your leg? Are you in any pain?" Orehael sat next to me, holding my hand and making far too much of a fuss over me. The burning pain still shot up my leg, but I was glad to see that the bleeding had stopped.
"Doesn't hurt at all. It's just a simple scratch." I shot him a forced smile, wondering if he'd buy it or not.
'Vasquez, I..." I shook my head, letting him know that I refused to listen. Then, like the stubborn woman I am, I interrupted him.
"Don't. I was wrong Orehael. I should have at least given you the chance to come with me. I acted out of fear instead of acting as I knew I should have." I pushed up on the bed, pulling my body to a seating position and hoping that I hid the pain well enough. "You're right. I didn't think about you at all. I only wanted to save Kith and that stupid..." I stopped myself, having only realized at that point that we weren't alone. Elroen, Layre and Serenity stood behind Orehael, trying to act like they weren't listening.
I pulled Orehael closer to me - close enough for me to whisper in his ear. "I only wanted to save that stupid ring. Really Orehael, someone else should be carrying it. Someone that can at least hold on to it." I started to pull away but instead leaned back in, adding one more thing. "I could never stay mad at you." I kissed him on the side of his mouth, flashed a smile, then released my grip on him and swung my legs out towards him on the bed.
"We need to pack and move out immediately." I said, putting some authority in my voice. "They'll come looking for us."
I motioned for Elroen to come closer, then said in a low voice. "What can you do for pain?"

OOC Today! :D it's killing me the wait ;)....I've now taken a nap so will wrap my head around an rp now :P
Oh and infernal that shadowing doesn't look natural to me ;) sooo you could be right
----------------------------------
Layre was a bit embarrassed to be caught in such an intimate moment between Vasquez and Orehael. Red started to slowly creep up her milky neck and stain her cheeks a soft rose. Layre walked over to the entrance of the tent, and looked out, trying to get as far from them as possible to give them some privacy without leaving, knowing that Vasquez needed help.
Suddenly she heard a rustle of Vasquez swinging her legs around in the motion to get up, saying "We need to pack and move out immediately." Vasquez said. "They'll come looking for us." At that Layre swung around just in time to see Vasquez motion to Elroen and ask him something quietly.
"NO!" rushing quickly over to Vasquez, Layre laid a hand on her shoulder. "You are in no shape to travel without getting some form of treatment! It's just stupidity to not do something about it, because later it can become infected and it looks like we are stuck here another night anyway. Rushing around to wait isn't going to help you, but it definitely could make things worse!"
Layre was livid at the level of idiocy Vasquez was showing. Layre had always believed Vasquez to be a pretty sharp thinker, but at this moment in time, was being bullheaded and Layre wanted to knock some sense into her head.
Why is this bothering me so much? Granted I'm a healer and want to help as much as I can but why do I want to do someone HARM? That's not me..... Layre was horrified to have these feelings of rage building inside of her, and tried taking deep breaths to calm her racing heart and emotions. It's the damn RING! It's causing us to be more aggressive and intensifying all our negative emotions!

:laugh: Did anyone catch my typo in the first bar fight entry?
"Before I could react, a bow flew through the air, piercing the man's skull and killing him instantly. "
Someone threw a BOW? LOL!!! I fixed it of course, but boy do I feel dumb. :doh:
Regarding the clue:
I'm inclined to stomp my feet and protest my innocence, although I know that does no good. Of course I know that's not right, but me saying that certainly won't hold any ground. However, I will point out that NONE of 123's clues have been so easy to decipher. None of them. I'd like to think there's a little more to it then "count the applications". lol I still say it's a hint to the location of the palace.

EDIT: I found it :D
But didn't we start off with 30 people, not 20? :p
I think I subconsciously noticed that, Magic :D I didn't even spot it properly, I just thought "Oh ouch, hit with a bow between the eyes, painful"

I'll also take a shot at an RP. Probably my last. :( *grumbles*
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Please, Amethyst ... You need to show that you are trustworthy ... That you are innocent!" I said. "I cannot protect you if they really want to kill you, I am not a fighter, you know?!" Amethyst stood silent for a moment, although it seemed to stretch onward towards eternity. She had no idea if she could completely trust him, but Amethyst felt that he meant well, and wanted to protect her. After the long, awkward silence, she took a deep breath and began her tale. "Well, I suppose it wouldn't hurt if one person knew." She told herself. She turned to Haydar.
"Are you sure you want to know?"
"I'm sure!! I need to know what's going on with you so I can protect you!"
"Well, you might as well have a seat. This, although it won't take long to explain, is quite shocking nontheless." She motioned Haydar toward the stool with a purple tufted cushion on it.
"Well?..."
"Well, um, you probably know I'm from Lethys, but you think I'm from this time. I'm not. I'm from....."
"From where?"
"No no no. Not where. When. I'm a traveler from the..." Amethyst didn't know if she could bring herself to say the words, but she had to anyway. If she was to live a little longer, then she would have to tell someone. "I'm from the future."
Haydar just stared blankly for a moment, as if he heard this type of thing all the time, but finally mustered up the courage to speak, "But why didn't you just come outright and tell us?"
"Because something exactly like this would have happened."
"The sacrifice?"
"Yes! The people in this time are unusually skittish and untrusting, which, considering the place at which we currently camp, is no spurprise."
"Aren't the people in your... time, the same way?"
"No, we aren't. After the ring was destroyed, all evil forces fell and made way for good forces to come and take back their respective lands and posessions. That will be about 100 years from now when all evil -or at least the major ruling evil- will be taken out of the picture completely."
Haydar had a strange, faraway dreamy look on his face. "A time ruled by good instead of evil. Hope instead of fear... must be nice to live then."
"You have no idea how many times I've wanted to go back, but I'm from a time further away than 100 years."
"How much farther is your time from ours?"
Amethyst bit her lip; did she dare go further? "Try 500 years."
"500?!" Haydar very nearly fell off of his stool with surprise. Regaining his composure, he asked, "But why come so far back in time?"
"All history from this period of time is currently lost to my time. Any written evidence was preserved for as long as humanly or magicaly possible, but to no avail. Whatever documents hadn't been destroyed in fires simply crumbled, despite our best efforts."
"So that's why you came back? To record the events just prior to the ring being destroyed?"
"Yes. I was to stay as long as possible, but if the situation became too grave, as it has now, I was to leave, depart by ways I can't really describe."
"More secrets?!"
"No no!! It's not that, it's just a complicated process of... well, spellcasting."
"That's another thing I've been meaning to ask."
Amethyst had started to pack up some of her things under spell protection. "Hmm? What else is there?" She took her seat again.
"Your magical abilities."
"Oh! Well, that simply comes from lots of training and having scorcerors for ancestors. I actually met one in Lethys, but didn't realize it until I went back."
"Well, practice makes perfect." He started to laugh nervously, but stopped as something Amethyst had said caught his attention. "What do you mean 'back'? You've been here before?"
"Well, no, at least not this particular time. I had attempted this mission, if you want to call it that, several years ago. However, the spell I used hadn't been refined to lead you to a specific point back in time. So, I ended up in a time oh... probably about 10 years ago." She said as she added up the complex equasions in her head.
"Wow. This sounds like a complicated business."
"It is. I was lucky to even get the job of TTH."
"TTH??"
"Oh, Time Travel Historian."
"Ah. So you've come here to do research only?"
"Yes, research only. Unfortunately, someone else will have to return later and fill my position, as the rest of the companions have made their vote; I will die." Amethyst let a tear drop onto the rug beneath her feet.
"But that would mean everyone's suspicions were wrong! They're voting for the wrong person!" Haydar stood up exclaiming.
"Haydar! It doesn't matter now. Unless they are convinced that I'm not an evil presence, then their votes will stand. 1/3 of the companions are gone, and only Dex was something other than a companion! Do you really think that the traitors are going to allow me to live?!" She was half-filled with rage and sorrow at the same time.
Haydar thought for a moment, as if taken aback by her words, but he suddenly thought of something. "You're from the future, so why can't you go forward in time and find out who the traitors are, then come back?"
Amethyst shook her head, wiping tears from her eyes. "Much as I would like to do that, my profession doesn't work that way. Once back, we have to undergo a week's worth of medical, physical, and psychological evaluations before we're allowed to see the archives again. And, as I said before, all of the documents having anything to do with this journey and anything else in this time have long since disintegrated."
"Amethyst... I'm so sorry."
Amethyst regained some of her composure, "Thank you, Haydar. I may have failed, but in a sense I won."
"Oh, in what way?"
"The opportunity of a lifetime: to spend a few weeks with some of the most interesting people I've ever met." She hugged Haydar tightly, as if afraid to let go. Which she was. Deep down Amethyst knew that by the time she got back to her own time, full of modern conveniences and the like, that the real people she had met on this journey would be dead, and the only evidence of thier existance would be ink on parchment...
She suddenly let go, as if embarassed by this outburst of affection. "Oh, I'm sorry..."
"That's ok." The funny thing was that Haydar didn't seem to mind at all. "What do you say to telling the rest of the camp what you just told me? Hmmm?"
"Well, I suppose it won't be too bad. You took it all in stride."
"Yes.. I suppose I did." He smiled as they left the tent to go to the main campfire, where almost all of the group was sitting. "Fellow companions," began Haydar, sounding much more antiqued than he needed to be, or at least that's what Amethyst thought. "Amethyst has something to tell you. About her mysterious actions in these past few days." "Go on!" He whispered to her as he pushed her in front of him. Amethyst took a deep breath, tears welling in her eyes. Deep down she knew that these people wouldn't believe her, for what reason did they have to? But before she could begin, she was interrupted by...
Fine. lol Now you know what Amethyst has been up to. I -she- beg you to change your votes. You're voting for the wrong person!!! :p I suppose this is as good a place for Gerbera to take over, or anyone else that wants to confront Amethyst. *nudges Magic* Also, when Amethyst refers to the people of this time as 'real', she's referring to the life experiences and physical and emotion hardship these people have gone through. Her time is full of modern conveniences much like ours, so that they're alive [her people], but in a sense not living at all.
ps. Gerbera, if you have a problem with anythin I did with Haydar, then please say so in order for me to correct it. :nod:
Hmm. So Amethyst was on this mission before? And so was Vasquez's lover, Saxton - who was killed during the journey. Interesting. :hmm: I can't think of a way to get Vasquez out of bed to confront her tho, since Layre was just so mean to her. :P LOL But give me some time to think it through. I can come up with something. The connection is too good to pass up. ;)
I know isn't it. :p She sorta went on the mission before, but the spell defunked and she was sent to a time ten years before the quest began. ;) So, she had to go back to her time and try again. :p
ps. If you write a long eoungh RP you can span a lot of time. :D
K. Let me give Alexis a chance to catch up (she's here now), then I'll have Vasquez very defiantely get out of bed. Cause she's good at that. ;)
I'm confused (yeah, shocking lol). Was she on the mission before, or aimed wrong and ended up missing the mission the first time? Cause if she was there, I can bring the "You knew Saxton" thing in (given that Vasquez still feels the need to honor him). If not, then she can't mention that.
lol Yes, shocking!! :p Ok, Amethyst had tried to go on the mission before, but the spell she used was flawed, and it sent her back ten years before this quest began. She did, however, take the initiative to record events from that time before she went back. In doing so she traveled all over the country, so it's entirely possible she knew Saxton, or at least briefly chatted with him. :shrug: You can write what you want, and I'll let you know if anything contradicts my post or not. :)
She didn't think of me at all. She probably never had. All she was concerened with was that cursed ring. All she really cared about was protecting the ring until it could be destroyed. Would she ever think of me? Would she ever care for me?
But...she said she loved me. She said she did outside the tavern. If that were true, that was all that should matter. So why was a I so crushed to find that our journey was so important to her? I sighed as I knew the answer. Nothing would ever be more important to me than her. I would never think of anyone or anything before her. This was my love for her...and it was not something returned.
She loved me...or thought she did...but it was not the same love I felt. Would it ever be? I knew that if I wanted her I would have to take her as she is, and take whatever amount of love I could. There was something she loved more...I could sense it. Something that drove her on this journey and that I would never compare to. I would always be second. If I wanted her though, I would have to settle for second.
Feeling her lips on mine and seeing her smile brought me out of my thoughts. When she touched me, when she kissed me, it felt as if I were the only one, the only thing in her heart. I knew better though. No one had ever truly held me in their hearts, and it seemed no one ever would. I smiled back at her faintly, hiding the pain within my chest as my heart crushed. She swung her legs off of the bed as if she were going to stand. "We need to pack and move out immediately. They'll come looking for us. Elroen, what can you do for pain?"
"You are in no shape to travel without getting some form of treatment! It's just stupidity to not do something about it, because later it can become infected and it looksl ike we are stuck here another night anyway." It was Layre that spoke. I raised my eyebrows and couldn't stop the smirk from appearing on my lips. Layre was a good woman, a good healer. She didn't know Vasquez very well though, did she? There was no way she was going to lie around feeling useless. She would pretend she was fine until she could no longer stand, and no one would tell her otherwise.
Vasquez ignored Layre's protests and rose slowly from the bed, her hand upon my shoulder for support. I stood with her, my arm around her waist, supporting most of her weight in an attempt to keep her off her leg as much as possible. "I am fine, Layre. I thank you for your concern, but it is just a scratch. Elroen, if you know of anything to help with pain, please bring it to me. I will be outside in the open air."
Together we walked from the tent, my mind made up. I would settle for being in her heart at all. I would not be first--that much was clear to me--but at least I was present there. We stopped just outside the tent as we heard Haydar's raised voice. "Fellow companions! Amethyst has something to tell you. About her mysterious actions in these past few days." Amethyst stood in front of Haydar, her eyes searching the group as she readied herself to speak.
OOC: I'm terribly impatient and couldn't wait. Heh. Beans, I did notice your typo about the bow, but I knew what you meant. ;) If anyone wants me to change anything, just holler. Also, it's only 9:30 and I've already used 2 of my RPs so the next one won't come for at least six more hours. Until then, anyone feel free to use Orehael.
"I guess the ale's free now", Kith pointed out. Only logical, seeing as the barman was unable to serve them as he was lacking a head. Smiling with glee, he filled his tankard with ale from a barrel and sat back down. God, this place is a mess. Looks like there's been a fight or something. Kith struggled with his memory for a few seconds, but decided to give up.
He stood, swaying from side to side. "Wheresh Calli go? Sure-" he covered his mouth to hiccup. "Am shure she was round here somewhere. Oh look! Vakeck's leaving with Orrie!" He giggled to himself, noticing that nobody was paying attention. A few seconds later, he found two arms either side of him, hoisting him to his feet. "Gerroff!" he protested, squirming a bit as he remembered the huge, smelly man from earlier. "Gerroff or I'll - I'll set Mirr' on you!" His two porters paid no attention to his threats, as fearsome as they may be, so he resigned himself to being frogmarched from the inn.
The next thing he was aware of was lying face-down in dirt, yet again. Dirt, he grumbled to himself. Why's it always have to be dirt? Makes me - He sneezed, just as he thought about it. Pro'lly have a dirt allergy. Always end up in it. Stupid people, stupid dirt. He rolled over to avoid sneezing again, and attempted standing up. Still wobbling on his feet, he ambled over to the centre of the camp and sat down by the fire.
Kith took the Ring from his pocket, inspecting it. Recalling the incidents of earlier, he realised that he'd lose it pretty soon if he wasn't careful with it. Orehael had warned him, Silas had warned him; and now everyone from the inn knew that he had it, and he was completely unsure of who that included. It could have been anyone. They also knew that he was a weakling. How am I supposed to protect it? Talk my way out of it? He sighed.
Suddenly, something occured to him. The Ring needed to be destroyed... Well, why not get it out with and destroy it? It couldn't be that hard. From his father, he knew that most softer metals used in jewellery were not fire-resistant; often, a simple flame could melt a ring out of shape.
He rolled the Ring between his fingers for a few seconds, then cast it into the white-hot centre of the fire with a casual flick. "Bye, Ringy. It's been nice knowing ya."
--------
I know most people are busy right now, but Kith's open for stumbling-across. :D The Ring isn't gone, mwahaha. As Gandalf so kindly demonstrates, by throwing the Ring in Frodo's fire, all a normal fire does is make the writing glow.. o0o.
I'm pretty sure there are more than four traitors... It just doesn't seem like enough.
As for pn... It seems like there has to be a reason for not capitalizing P. pn upside down is ud, but that's as far as I got with that one. Ya know, I bet the palace is in Winniesville. None of us seem to want to go there. I don't think anyone even picked it as their place of birth. It's the perfect place to hide a palace.
I'll rp in a little bit... I'm not sure where I think Calliope is right now. If she was drunk, she wouldn't have left the bar even if there was a fight going on.
I sat on my bed, blinking my eyes in disbelief. Did Layre just call me stupid? I shook my head, determined to stand up. The injury wasn't very serious and I was having a hard time trying to figure out why everyone looked so concerned.
I managed to stand up, albeit a bit wobbly. Orehael put his arm around me, probably as a way to steady me. I grinned slightly as I thought to myself that pretending to need his assistance could be fun if it meant having his arm around me all day. We walked outside to find a number of companions sitting around the campfire. Among them was Kith, our ever trusty ring bearer. He looked up at me, his eyes rolling in his head as his body swayed back and forth. I shook my head as I tried to figure out where the pleasure in being so drunk came from. He certainly wouldn't be enjoying himself in a few hours when he'd certainly be suffering the consequences.
As we approached, I heard Amethyst begin to speak. She stopped and looked at us, as we were obviously interrupting her speech. Orehael and I stood still, our eyes fixed on her. She cleared her throat and gave a long speech about being from 500 yrs in the future, and how her job here was to document the journey to destroy the ring. And then she said it. She had been here before. My heart raced as I listened to her. Had I heard her right? She had been here at the same time Saxton was on this journey? No. That can't be. That would mean she...knew him? My arm started to drop from around Orehael's waist as I prepared to question Amethyst, but stopped suddenly. The wind had shifted...the leaves were starting to dance on the ground. The wind enveloped me like a cocoon, causing me to close my eyes and breathe in deeply. He was here.
A slight tickle ran across my cheek as I heard the words. His deep voice echoed through my head. "I release you." As I opened my eyes a leaf lifted off the ground, dancing it's way in front of me and across to Orehael, landing in his opened palm. I laid my hand on his, holding the leaf between our hands while I lowered my head onto his shoulder. The wind died down as the leaves settled once more. For the first time since Saxtons death, I could no longer feel him. I was free. Finally free.
"Did you wish to ask me something Vasquez?" Amethyst asked, probably picking up on my dazed look.
I held his hand tighter as the leaf started to buckle from the pressure. "Yes Amethyst. I do have one question. If you are from the future, and you're at risk to die during this sacrifice, why don't you just...whip up a potion and go home?"
I didn't wait for answer, for she could answer the remaining companions. For now, I knew I needed to be back in my tent, waiting for the pain treatment from Elroen . As I started to turn, my eye caught something in the fire. Something...gold? No. No he couldn't. He wouldn't. I nudged Orehael and nodded towards the fire. He looked at me as if he didn't know what I was trying to say, so I whispered what I was thinking in his ear.
"It appears as if we're all free, my love."
