Execution Day IV Results

All of the companions knew that the Magrodors were coming for them. Ever since Algernon put on the ring, everyone has been acting different. Over one third of them were gone, and all except one are companions. It was pitch black 24/7 in the caves and it was frightening for some of the companions. The only thing they could hear were the sounds of the volcanoes making small eruptions.

The cave was humongous and expanded almost a mile into the mountain. All of the companions were sleeping, but one was still awake. Myrra was quietly thinking to herself. "I must leave this place... I need to escape this petrifying city and go back to Clo." Myrra is the adventurous type and she loves to go on journeys, but this? Anything but this. People are dying everyday and soon she will die too. She knows that if the Magrodors find the campsite, they ALL will die.

Myrra gently gets up and walks towards an empty section of the cave. She looked down into a puddle of water and saw her reflection. Why was she here so caught up in this mess. It's the ring. She has to destroy it, to save Middle Earth. She strolls over deeper and deeper into the cave, but then she sees something and then she feels a cold rush through her body....

I laid on my bed roll, my arms wrapped around Vasquez and my fingers tracing gentle circles upon her stomach. She was feeling ill and it was all the fault of the ring, but when I stroked her stomach she seemed calmer, happier. And so I laid beside her and I comforted her as much as I could. I did not sleep, and I was fairly certain she did not either. Both of us laid instead in silence, quietly watching the entrance of the cave. We were aware that there were traitors among us still, but the dangers that lurked outside the cave seemed more threatening at this time. We needed to leave. We needed to leave soon. As I watched I found myself willing the sun to rise, to end this horrid night and allow us to move on...to leave Hinith.

I did not know for how long I had fallen asleep, but I was suddenly awakened by an earpiercing scream coming from the depths of the cave. My thoughts interrupted, I stood quickly upright and tried to see. It was too dark though...nothing could be seen except something right in front of one's eyes. I looked to my left and saw that Vasquez had risen too, obviously in response to the scream. I grabbed her hand, my fingers twined in hers and squeezed. Together we headed deep into the cave, feeling our way along the walls until finally our eyes adjusted a bit.

We saw Myrra standing in shock, her mouth agape. She stared at the body-less head of Kith, a pool of blood forming around it. Shocked, I stood and stared at the image before me. Kith? Kith had been killed? That boy had driven me nuts at times, but I had liked him. Why did they kill him? He was the only one who had proven his ability to overcome the ring...

That's when it occurred to me. They had killed him because the ring could not overpower him. To them, he was a danger--someone who could destroy the ring, someone who had tried to destroy the ring. That was obviously the last thing the traitors wanted. They wanted the ring for themselves, and Kith was capable of destroying their goal...

This was obviously not the first severed head I'd seen in my life, but it was different this time. Kith of all people. Harmless quirkly little Kith.

Myrra stood just a foot away from his head, obviously in a state of shock. She said nothing and stood perfectly still. The only sign that she was aware of what had happened, was her gaping mouth and watering eyes. I looked around, sure that someone else would come running, but saw nobody (which didn't mean much in this blasted dark cave). I never was good at consolation and I had grown to regret the thought of even trying anymore. I walked towards her slowly, laying my hand on her shoulder. "Myrra" I said softly. "Myrra, perhaps some water..."

She turned towards me and muttered something that sounded like "He was my friend." I looked over at Orehael, my eyes almost begging for him to tell me what to say to her. Not finding the answer in his eyes, I put my arm around her shoulders. "Come on Myrra. This isn't the place for you to be. I still have some rum from our first night in Apple Caves. Would you like a little bit of it?" She nodded her head, still obviously trying to process what she'd discovered.

We walked her over to where our belongings where, then I started digging for my bottle of rum. Finally I found it, buried under all of my clothing. I pulled the stopper out, wiped the rim and handed her the bottle. "Just a sip Myrra. It's strong stuff." She took a much larger swig than I'd intended to give her, coughing a bit after swallowing. "Smooth." she said with a rough voice.

"Haha. Yeah. Smooth." I raised the bottle to my lips, but was stopped by Orehael. He took the bottle from me, placed the stopper back in the bottle and put it back in my bag. I wasn't sure whether to fight with him or thank him, so of course I did neither.

I wasn't sure if Myrra was really okay or not, but I knew that the rum relaxed her a little bit. I also knew that Kith needed to be buried. No glass coffin would work for him, since he wasn't...completely there.

I got Orehael's attention, whispering softly. "We'll need rocks to cover him up with. But we need to collect them quietly. Perhaps you could recruit another elf to help?"

Kith was dead. Myrra was in shock and drinking to calm her nerves. Vasquez was about to take a drink of the rum when I stopped her. We all needed to be as clear-minded as possible. We needed to stay on alert. I had been so worried about the dangers outside our cave that I had failed to keep watch for the dangers inside. And now Kith was dead...murdered. "Not Kith," I thought. I didn't want to admit that he was gone. I didn't know him well, and when I did interact with him things never seemed to go calmly...but still, I thought of him as a friend.

Vasquez got my attention, whispering softly, "We'll need rocks to cover him up with. But we need to collect them quietly. Perhaps you could recruit another elf to help?"

I nodded slowly and went to find Silas. My first reaction had been to find Kheelan--he had not accused me of being a traitor--but I did not think he should have to face the body of Kith after losing Arion. So I walked carefully through the cave, walking around the sleeping bodies of the companions until I found Silas. He was sleeping on his bed roll near Layre. I gently touched his shoulder and shook him slightly, hoping to awaken him without causing alarm from anyone nearby.

"Silas, wake up. Something has happened and I need your help." I spoke the words softly as he opened his eyes and stared at me.

I knew not if he would help me. He thought me a traitor...perhaps he would think I was trying to trick him. I could only hope he would dare to accompany me. We needed to find rocks to cover what we could find of Kith's body, and only elves could move quietly enough to do so without waking the others.

OOC: Derange, I didn't know how Silas would react to being awakened by Orehael so I didn't write any response for him. You can decide how he would respond to being woke up and asked to help someone who he thinks is a traitor. :D

The question Layre asked him caught him by surprise. Him, the Ring? If he knew he could trust the others, he would not have hesitated to decline; the thing made his skin crawl, made him feel strange at it's very presence. He did not like to touch it. But... he gazed around the cave again, looking. Who else could he know was trustworthy enough? He would have chosen Orehael if he did not suspect him to be a traitor. After much thought, he turned back to Layre. "I would. For the sake of everyone else." He turned his eyes to Algernon and his ears perked slightly. "But it seems we were too late." He motioned in Lynnia's hand, where he saw the ring dangle from the chain.

They went to sleep soon after, and in the morning Silas was awoken by Orehael's hand shaking his shoulder. He blinked a few times and squinted in a half-asleep daze, and for a moment he was suddenly filled with fear. Please, for the love of God, don't say it was his time...

"Silas, wake up. Something has happened and I need your help."

He stared at Orehael with wide eyes. Was this how they lured the others out? Telling them they needed help? He threw a wild gaze around the caves, counting heads - Myrra, Vasquez, and Kith were gone. "Where are the others?" he whispered back.

Orehael motioned to an empty section of the cave. "They're..." he stopped. "Kith is dead." Silas stared at him in shock. Kith? Dead? But... "We need your help covering him. Can you?"

There was still distrust in his eyes, but he needed to see this for himself. Lifting his body from his bed roll, he moved to the empty section, past Myrra and Vasquez, until he saw Kith's amputated head with his own eyes. He felt physically ill at the sight of it, his hands over his mouth, he immediately turned away. He stared at the three others, then silently nodded his head. He would help as soon as the scene could register in his brain - apart from Layre, Kith was the only other he felt he could trust.

Like if someone holds the ring and then gives it to someone else can s/he get it back? Yes, he or she can carry the ring again, but it has to be given to him/her by ring-carrier or I guess someone can just steal it lol.

Moira woke up and went streight to eating breakfast. Vasquez walked up to Moira. "Kith was murdered." she said. A look of shock and saddness came upon Moira. "Wh-where?" she asked. "In the cave, that way." Vasquez pointed out. Before she could stop her, Moira ran into that part of the cave, and saw Kith's severed head. She screamed, and turned around. Oreheal and Silas had walked up behind her. "The traitors killed him, he must have been a threat to them, because he didn't let the Ring overpower him." Oreheal said. "I bearly knew him, but I was really starting to like him" Moira said. Moira went back to the camp, feeling sick to her stomach.

While Layre was sleeping, some whispering not far from her disturbed her sleep. Not moving, she opened her eyes and peeked out of her bedroll. Orehael was asking Silas for help. Help doing what? Then she heard the dreaded words...Kith had been killed. No, not another one!

Layre waited some time after they left before she moved. Pushing back the covers, she sat up with her back to the wall. She was not anxious to see another innocent companion murdered and there being no way that she could do anything to help. Drawing her knees up to her chest, she wrapped her arms around them. Who are these beasts that are picking us off like flies? Is it Algernon with his taste for war, drugs and power? Or is it Vasquez avenging herself for things in the past? And what about Haydar or ANY OF THEM for that matter?! I just DON'T know!!! Layre let out a sigh. And the ring...the cursed ring...Lynnia now has it, is she strong enough to withstand it's pull?

Not being able to make any sense of her thoughts, Layre got up and gathered her things. Walking over to where the others had gathered, she asked, "We are leaving here soon, right?" desperation tainting her voice.

Algernon knew Lynnia had taken the ring. It was better off in her hands, rather than his unstable minded ones. They chatted lightly, keeping mostly quiet after the previous events.

"I'm so sorry to everyone about this... I can't repay any of you enough," he said. He took out his bag of gold coins, and threw it to the companions. He didn't want it anymore, he didnt deserve it.

Algernon took a bag of diamonds out of his hidden pocket. He slipped it to Lynnia pleading her too not take notice until later. He knew her past history, and what she was obligated to. Hopefully, should he die, she could buy her freedom.

"Algernon... I.." she said.

He couldn't resist it anymore. He leaned for, and kissed her, with more passion, more heart, and more feeling than anyoe ever before.

"We are leaving here soon, right?"

Layre looked scared to death. She was expressing what we were all feeling. Intense fear for our lives. I stood up and checked my daggers. "Yes. We're leaving here soon."

Orehael and Silas were collecting rocks to cover the remnants of Kith's body. I knew it was now or never.

As I approached the entrance to the cave, Elroen rose to his feet. "You can't go out there!" I stopped, turning to face him.

"Someone has to go out there and make sure we can safely leave. We can't sit here, waiting for the Magrodors to catch up with us!"

"But..." he finished "What if they kill you?"

The thought of never seeing Orehael again briefly entered my mind, but I quickly pushed it back out again. I lowered my voice and said, my eyes showing the anger I was feeling towards the Magrodors, "I'd like to see them try."

I exited the cave, keeping as close to the wall as possible. The rocks were slippery and difficult to maneuver. I took the same path we had used to enter the cave until I reached a small plateau in the rock wall. Carefully I climbed the wall, attempting to get above the cave. I needed to get a good view of Hinith...needed to see the best way out and if we were blocked off.

I dug my toe into the rocks, trying to get my footing. Damn boots. One by one, I grabbed ahold of a rock and pulled myself up - using my feet to push as I pulled with my hands. It seemed to be taking forever to get to the top, perhaps because I knew I only had about an hour before Orehael would return from burying Kith. This would surely make him madder than he'd ever been, but I couldn't stop myself. If anyone was going to do this, it would be me.

As I climbed I thought about why I couldn't do what the other women were doing. Why couldn't I just sit and wait for one of the men to rescue me? The Elven men would have been better to climb these rocks, but a much easier target for the Magrodors than a lost Deathian who happened to stumble across city lines. Eying a rather large rock, I reached for it and grabbed ahold. As I lifted my leg to step into a new spot of the wall, the rock gave way, falling below me. My feet slipped from their positions as my left hand grasped the remaining rock desperately. Although one would think that my life was flashing before my eyes, all I could really do was curse under my breath repeatedly. I pulled my largest dagger out of my holster, jamming it into the wall. Holding on tight, I feverishly worked at controlling my body from swinging as I held on tight. My hands were sweating, which is never good when you're clinging on for dear life.

Finally under control, I was able to make it up the rest of the rock wall. I stood up on top and looked over the side at my dagger. It sat alone, permanently stuck in the wall. "Goodbye dear friend."

From up here, I could see all of Hinith. It was even darker and more depressing than Death, if that were at all possible. Why people chose to live here was beyond me. From where I stood, I could see two ways out of Hinith. They were both blocked by guards.

And then I turned around. Behind me, heading south, lay one lone road out of Hinith. Untouched and unguarded. This would be the way we would go. Oh but how to get there - that's another question. Some of the companions would never make that climb. I dropped to my knees and started crawling around, not wanting to be seen by the guards. I had gone no more than 200 feet when I felt it. A hidden opening.

I pulled the brush away to reveal another cave. I stepped in, wondering if there was any way that it could connect with the cave we hid in.

I dropped down from the top of the opening, landing on the dirt below. The only light was that which came through the opening I'd just created. I had to squeeze to get through the narrow tunnel created by nature. About halfway down I heard it - people. Someone was talking.

I turned the corner to see Orehael and Silas putting the final touches on Kiths grave. Realizing I was on the wrong side of him to have been coming from the main part of the cave, Orehael shot me a very curious look.

I smiled and walked past him, my hand on my stomach - his eyes following me as I went. Just as I passed poor Kith, my eyes spotted something on the floor of the cave. Was this ... a letter?

Hey guys.
If you're reading this, I guess that's bad news for me. That means already I'll have begun my journey to the Halls of Mandos, probably sat around bored out of my skull waiting to be reincarnated. Sometimes, you've just gotta envy the Gift of Man.

I've had a great time with you all. Sure, I wished it had went on a little longer, but it certainly beats life back in Lethys. Speaking of Lethys, if you're passing, tell my folks that I won't be coming home for a long time.

Remember me as the courageous, tough, cool guy who nearly killed the ring for you all. Or, y'know, the guy who spent most of his time drunk. Try not to miss me too much, I'm sure I'll be having a riot of a time in the afterlife.

A few words to you lot. Calliope, we should've had a rematch of that card game. Silas, you're a talented musician. I bet you'd do well in Diamo. Orehael, I'll forgive you for almost knocking half my teeth out. Myrra, you smell better than a Magrodor (I now know from experience). Vasquez still owes me a bottle of ale. Speaking of ale, Durin, thanks for the herbs. Sober is the way to go. Usually. You hear that, Algernon?

To those of you who didn't get the chance to meet me, you don't know what you've gone and missed! To the rest of you, until we meet again I'll say so long, and good luck. Those Magrodors are gonna pay for what they're doing.

The night passed slowly. Around me I could hear the soft breaths and quiet snores of my companions. I was unable to sleep, tired as I was. My heart, and head, were too full. Too much had happened. Algernon coming back to himself, our murder of Caara, my taking of the ring, Algernon kissing me.

I was not untouched before this, but there is quite a difference between a kiss given out of lust, and one out of purer feeling. I stopped short of calling it love.

It's not love, its convenience. You were simply the closest one at hand," a voice that sounded oddly like my brother told me.

I felt once again the small bag that Algernon had given me. I knew what he wanted me to do, but I turned away from it, because to do it would mean he was dead.

He's not going to die, I told myself fiercely. I was going to do everything I could to prevent that. In the morning I would make sure everyone knew I had the ring, and that Algernon was back to normal. Hopefully that would allay their fears, their suspicions, their doubts about him. I smiled down at the sleeping man laying beside me. Like all men, he was innocent in his sleep.

My smile soon faded though as a more ominous feeling overcame me. It was the ring. It was heavy and continually whispered to me. It called out to be worn.

I will never wear it, I vowed. For to do so will not only condemn me, but Algernon as well.

I must have eventually fallen asleep for the next thing I remember looking up and seeing Vasquez holding something in her hands. Her posture spoke words.

Someone else had died. Carefully, so as not to disturb Algernon, I stood and walked over to her.

"What has happened?" She looked at me.

"Kith was killed sometime in the night," she replied to my question. I buried my head in my hands. It seemed to me that I could hear the ring laughing.

"Will this never end," I whispered.

"Only with the destruction of the ring that Algernon carries will it end," she said.

I looked at her.

"Algernon no longer carries the ring. I do."

Suddenly, Durin hears a roar coming from outside of the cave. He warns everyone, but they are all too scared to see if it's the Magrodors or not. The companions quietly run as far back into the cave as possible. Some of them spot Kith's head as they run farther and farther back into the cave.

The ground beneath the companions makes a loud rumble. Is it the Magrodors or a volcano erupting? What's happening? Serenity runs as fast as she can, but falls to the ground since she can barely see in the pitch black cave. Elroen helps her up and they continue their way farther and farther into the cave.

The companions reach a dead end and there is no other way out of the cave. They wait to see what will happen.

Algernon awoke, Lynnia gone. With her gone, he began searching. He ripped the sheets off the bed, he pulled the bed up. Ripped open bags and crates. Searching.. searching for his bag.

He needed that bag, it had his life in it. It was worth more than anything he ever owned... without it, he was useless.... searching searching

I stood still, holding Kith's letter and listening to Lynnia speak. " You....you what?"

"I have the ring. It is very safe with me."

My eyebrow raised as I looked her in the eye. It was good that Algernon no longer held the ring, but could Lynnia truly handle it's power? "And how are you feeling Lynnia?"

"Oh fine" she said, looking at Algernon. "Just fine."

The queasiness in my stomach was picking back up again as I stood so close to the ring. "I uhh...have to go Lynnia. If you start having problems, please pass the ring to someone else - an elf perhaps. Maybe that's why Kith was so strong against it."

I didn't give her time to answer. I turned and went straight back to my bedroll again, desperate for some something to settle my stomach. As I was digging through my food bag, Durin came running through the cave. He had heard a loud rumble and was sure the Magrodors were just outside the cave. I dropped my bag and started motioning for everyone to quietly make their way to the back of the cave. Keeping one eye on the entrance, I felt the panic rising inside of me. Why were they moving so slowly? Please go faster!

As we reached the area where Kith's head was, the ground rumbled horribly. Everyone stopped walking, looking at their feet below. I could see it in their eyes. Fear. Pure fear. Even I was more scared then I'd ever been in my life. Could the Magrodors really come straight through the floor? I had underestimated their power! In a loud whisper, I urged everyone to keep moving.

Orehael dropped the rock he held in his hand and in no time was at my side, holding me in his arms as we quickly moved through the cave. We ended up at a dead end - trapped in the cave like the sitting ducks we all knew we were.

As we stood there, waiting for certain death - waiting to be attacked, a part of me wanted to hold my daggers in hand, prepared to go down fighting. But the part of me that wanted to cling to Orehael won me over.

Silas had been shocked to see Kith's...head. I think all of us who had seen had been shocked. He agreed to help collect the rocks though, and so together we began searching. It was dark in the cave, but our eyes had slightly adjusted. Most of the rocks were either too big or too small for our task, so it took us quite a while longer than I had been hoping. We worked together in silence, my mind screaming at me to say something...anything...to Silas. I couldn't find the words though. What good would it do?

I sighed heavily, drawing the attention of Silas. He stopped working and looked at me curiously. I just shook my head and continued my work and he followed suit. Soon I could take the silence no longer and so I stood, my foot upon a large rock (too large for our task) and my eyes looking at the ground.

"I know you think me a traitor Silas, and I do not blame you. More than once I have considered the same of you...and I am not one that other elves seem to take kindly to." I spat the last part of my words bitterly and then looked up at Silas. I saw that he too had stopped working, watching me intently and listening carefully to my words. I diverted my eyes and spoke again, "But I promise you that I did not do this to Kith. I could not do this to Kith." Looking at Silas again I continued, keeping my eyes fixed on his. "If I had wanted Kith dead why would I not have simply left him outside this cave for the Magrodors to find? I took his unwilling self back here...back to where I thought he would be safe. He was our only chance as far as I could see. The one person so far who had proven his will strong enough to destroy the ring. I didn't want him dead..."

Just as I finished my words, I saw Vasquez coming towards us from the opposite side of where the camp was. How did she get there? I looked at her strangely but said nothing, letting her pass by undisturbed. I watched her walk past before beginning my work again...searching for rocks to properly cover what we had found of Kith...

Suddenly the ground started rumbling. Was the mountain erupting? Were the Magrodors attacking? I had never been told of Magrodors attacking from below the Earth...but could it be a new tactic of theirs? I didn't think so...more likely it was as I first thought--the mountain was erupting. We needed to move! I looked up and saw the others--all of our group huddled together needs Kith's head, a look of fear in the eyes of every one of them.

Seeing Vasquez trying to keep her composure, though the fear was evident in her eyes, I dropped the rock I held and rushed to her side. My arms were around her as I urged her through the cave, hoping to find an escape. When the cave ended in solid rock though, I worried. There was nowhere to go, nowhere to run. How would we escape this mountain or the lava that would flow from its depths? Vasquez clung to me and I held her tightly, searching with my eyes for a way out. There had to be something we could do...I would not die like this, nor would I let Vasquez die like this.

RPG: The cave was unbearably stil and quiet. Myrra sat intently, almost in a daze. Hours passed, and a movement beside her made her jump. She looked down, it was only Kith, he finally came to.
"You're awake then?" Kith opened his eyes and looked up at her. She looked back, questioning whether he was better than yesterday.
He was, they talked for a bit, before Kith got up, saying he was gonna go for a walk. Myrra nestled back down, trying to get a comfortable as possble on the stoney cave floor.
Imersed in her own thoughts, Myrra found herslef questioning everything. Soon it was too much to bear to just sit. She got up, intent on finding some way to occupy herself..
She strolled deeper and deeper into the cave. Lost in her own thoughts. She stared at the floor, occasionally bumping into overhangs like a moron, but still refusing to look up.
Something came into view. Myrra breathed in deeply, quickly, before letting out a piercing scream.
She shrunk back, and collapsed to the floor, to shocked to move. She put her head in her arms, not wanting to look at Kith's amputated head.
Only a couple moments passed before she heard hurried footsteps behind her. It was Vasquez and Orehael, she could tell by their voices as they spoke, shocked, about what they saw. Myrra felt a hand on her shoulder.
"Myrra....perhaps some water." Vasquez's voice was full of concern.
Back in the main cave, she got Myrra some rum.
"Just a sip Myrra, its strong stuff."
She didnt even hear, her mind was still back in the little cave, Kith's amputated head...she took way more than a little sip, and found herself choking on it.
The night passed, Myrra barely noticed. It seemed like forever yet only a few moments when she heard Duran come in yelling. Magrodors? They found us?
Myrra got up as everyone else also jumped up and started running. Not wanting to risk everything to see if the noise was magrodors or an erupting volcano.
They came to a dead end. The ground was shaking violently. Myrra stood with everyone else, in uncertain suspense.

Okay, I got a little more catching up to do before I can RP... I'm a little confused about the whole "trapped in the cave" thing. I'm sure I'll get it eventually.

How long had we been standing back here? We were each too afraid to move - to head back out to the main part of the cave, but we knew we'd have to eventually.

"Orehael" I said, my voice shaking slightly "there is another way out." I pointed down the narrow passageway that would lead us above the cave. "I discovered it while you were burying Kith"

I could tell he was angry by the way he looked at me. He held on tight, but avoided looking at me. "Only a fool would leave the safety of the cave." I said nothing in return, choosing instead to lay my head on his shoulder.

From the darkness I heard someone yell out "There's another passageway here!". It seemed to be coming from a different direction than the one that I'd discovered earlier. Upon inspection, the passageway seemed to lead to another larger area. We moved into the new area and settled in as best as we could. Just before we sat down, my fingers fell across the letter I still had tucked in my pocket. I still had to pass this along to someone - someone that I knew would take good care of Pip for Kith. But who?

My eyes scanned the room and finally landed on Calliope. I grinned to myself laughing at the image of her and Pip together and yet, they seemed the perfect pair. She'd always complained about the long walks. I walked over to her, put the paper in her hand and smiled slightly. "I believe Kith would have wanted you to have this"

I found a spot next to Orehael and settled in, wishing I could have had enough time to grab my food bag. He rubbed my stomach gently as we hid in the small room, waiting for the rumbling below us to stop.

After a few minutes, it all got to me. I couldn't lay there anymore. After assuring Orehael that I wasn't going far, I got up and crossed to the other side of the room, where I had just enough space to move my muscles a bit.

I moved my arms, fighting slowly against an imaginary opponent until I was interrupted.

"Can you show me how to do that?"

After my revelation to Vasquez, I walked back to Algernon. I was surprised, to put it mildly, to see him tearing apart his bedding.

"What are you doing?"

He whirled, and looked at me so wild-eyed, I thought the madness was back upon him. He was spared from answering me as the ground beneath our feet began to rumble and shake. He grabbed my hand and we followed everyone else to the back of the cave.

I saw Serenity fall, and Elroen help her back up. We reached the back of the cave, only to discover a dead end. Time lost all meaning as we stood there, waiting. Someone found a slighter larger room and we all moved there, and once again we waited to learn our fate.

At least, if I'm to die now, I won't be alone, I thought as I looked at Algernon. He gave me a little smile, but his eyes were as haunted as I knew mine to be.

I looked around me. Every face I saw wore the same look of fearful dread. I saw Vasquez move away to a clear area and I watched fascinated as she began moving. Her movements flowed together gracefully and she looked like she was dancing. I went over to her.

"Can you show me how to do that?"

RP: Korinne was scared. As the minutes went by, Korinne became terrified.
Korinne could hear and feel rumbling. Korinne was so terrified, and so horrified of what had become of there friend Kith, not to mention what happened to the other companions who had perished. Either good or bad people sat and stood around her. Mostly it was silence. There was the occasional whisper every now and then, but nobody knew what quite to do. The rumbling wasing growing frequent, and Korinne could only wish it wasn't an earthquake, volcano or the dreaded Magrodors.
Korinne was eternally grateful for the food that Silas, Durin and Vasquez had given her. Then she remembered poor Kith had given her food, as well.
At that moment, Korinne broke down in tears. She leaned against the cave wall before falling to the damp, hard ground, sobbing.

"Can you show me how to do that?" Lynnia stood before me, watching me move. I stopped my practice, laid my hands on my hips and looked her over.

"I suppose since you carry the ring you should learn a few defense moves". I positioned myself in front of her, then put my hand on her abdomen. "Feel that there? That's your center. Always stand from your center."

"My...center?"

I nodded. "It's where you get your best balance." I straightened up, and took my position. "Feet slightly apart, stand from your center, shoulders slightly back, knees slightly bent." I put my fingers to my eyes. "See your attacker in front of you, got it?"

She nodded, the look on her face one that made me chuckle. "Don't worry. He can't attack you." We moved slowly as she learned the basics in Rujin, a Deathian fighting style. Her face came alive as she learned each move, and I could see that she was feeling more powerful then she had in a while. She was a fast learner, and before long she was keeping up with me as I quickened the pace slightly.

We stood in our corner of this dark cold cave, moving together in a way that felt almost natural. "Vasquez? Why are you doing this? I mean - going through all this to destroy the ring?"

I glanced at her while I picked the pace up a little more. "Because it's evil, and I hate evil. And..." For a moment I considered not answering - that is until I saw Orehael watching me and smiling. "And because I won't be free until I do"

The look of sadness in Lynnia's eyes told me that wanting your freedom was something she understood well.

I was sound asleep when I heard a little commotion… everyone started to stir and there was talk of… Who? Kith?… No not Kith, he had been so kind in sharing his food with me… Where? How can this have happened? I never got to know him but he was always a good laugh.

Just as I had sat down on my bedding Durin started to tell everyone that he heard something, frightened we all headed to the back of the cave, almost sure the Magradors would be coming through the front entrance. With all the commotion and running I lost my footing… fell down onto the ground in a most ungraceful manor. Still in a panic I couldn’t seem to bring myself up… I felt someone grabbing my arm… I thought I was a goner for a second then I realized it was Eloren. I felt a brief rush of relief as we continued to the back of the cave. I saw something on the ground… Kith’s head… I couldn’t bear to look. More fear and hatred rushed through me… poor Kith.

I was still trembling as we moved into the larger room. I couldn't believe what was happening; we seemed to be waiting there to die. Part of me wanted to run from the cave, but I knew I couldn't. I just had to do something though, then I saw Eloren...I went up to him and said, “Eloren, I wanted to thank you… I don’t know what would have happened if you hadn’t helped me back there. I guess I lost my senses for a moment.” Without even thinking I wrapped my arms around him and gave him a hug, I almost didn’t let go until I realized what I was doing. “Oh! I’m sorry," I said blushing. "I don’t usually...that is I...uh...thank you." I was so embarrassed that I turned to walk away. I mean, what he must have thought of me...

Calliope had been keeping her distance from the rest of the group since Kith's death. Strange how she could be so broken up over Kith but not the slightest bit guilty over killing Caara and the other innocent companions. Kith was different... That damn Vasquez!! She's doing this to me on purpose. First, she killed Dex because he was giving me food. Now, she's killed Kith because he made me happy. Kith was wonderful... hilarious... good looking... always smelled nice... and he was fun too... I miss Kith! Calliope felt a drop of cold water splash on the back of her neck. That is the fourteenth time the ceiling has dripped on me! Dark, dirty, stinky cave... I do NOT like dark, wet caves. All this walking in caves is wrecking my shoes. Whose falult is it that I have to be here? Probably Vasquez again... damn woman is determined to destroy me. Or maybe it's Algernon's fault. That seems likely. We have to hide in the cave because he wanted to wear the ring! After everyone tells him not to wear it, what does he do? He puts it on! Well, I've got some advice for Algernon... Don't run with scissors, don't stick your tongue to ice and by all means, NEVER put salt in your eye!
This exhausts me. I need a drink...
Vasquez led Pip toward Calliope. Just about the last person Calliope wanted to see... She faked a smile and looked away. What could she possibly want? Awful savage woman... I bet she intends to eat that pony. I hope he tastes terrible. Vasquez hands Calliope a letter and says, "I believe Kith would've wanted you to have this." Then she was walking away, and Calliope didn't know what to think. She looked at Vasquez, then at Pip, then at the letter in her hand.
"Calliope, we should've had a rematch of that card game." Calliope sniffled softly to herself as her eyes welled up with tears. She let out a cry that echoed hollowly through the cave and sobbed, "I'll never play cards again!"

The new bigger cave was no better than the first. In fact, it was worse, now that Myrra had the trembling ground beneath her feet. She made her way to a corner, and sat down.
Everyone else was eventually settled down, trying their best to go on with their business and ignore the shaking floor and uncertainty of what was happening.
Bored, Myrra settled to watching Vasquez teach Lynnia some fighting moves, since they werent far from her. Lynnia was catching on quickly.
Myrra reached down and wrapped her fingers around the necklace around her neck. Normally she kept it inside her clothes, since it was quite valuable. However in the panic of the trembling ground it must have slipped out. It once belonged to her sister, the reason she always has it with her now. Myrra sighed, she felt a tear slide down her cheek.
Vasquez and Lynnia continued talking. Myrra stretched out more, putting her hand on the ground, the other still hanging on to her necklace. Her mind traveled everywhere.
The feeling of something fuzzy on her hand snapped her out of her trance. She looked down, her stomach dropped as she saw a giant harry spider crawling up her arm.
She screamed, shaking it off, and scrambled up the small pile of rocks she had been leaning against. Vasquez and Lynnia were staring up at her.
"I hate spiders" She said simply, slipping back down and watching it crawl toward them.

I held Vasquez in my arms--the rumbling beneath us continued. We were trapped with seemingly no way out. That was when she told me about an exit. She had found it while I was collecting rocks with Silas. My grip on her tightened, but I didn't look at her. She had been foolish enough to leave the cave? That was why she had approached us from the end of the cave earlier. I cursed myself silently--why hadn't I run to her then and insist she tell me what she was doing? Then at least I could have at least told her what I thought of her leaving the cave.

"Only a fool would leave the safety of the cave." Those words were all I could manage, and I hoped she understood that I did not approve of her actions. I did not approve of her putting her life in danger without reason...

I watched as Vasquez left my arms and approached Calliope, handing her something before returning to my side. I held her and rubbed her stomach gently, reminding myself that she was still ill. I needed to be gentle with her, despite my anger towards her carelessness. She did not sit long though, probably growing with unease as we all simply sat and awaited our fate.

I watched as Vasquez fought her imaginary opponent, and continued to watch as she taught Lynnia some defensive moves. It was important that Lynnia learn some fighting now that she carried the ring. I only hoped the Magrodors were not after her now...and that they thought Algernon still carried the cursed ring. I smiled softly as I watched the women--Vasquez drove me quite mad at times, but Gods help me, I loved her. I even loved the bravery and courage she possessed that made her act unwisely at times. I found myself wondering if love was always quite so madenning. Was it normal for someone to be so deeply in love to fluctuate between anger and undieing devotion? Or was the anger merely a side effect of my proximity to the ring. I didn't know for sure...

Silas listened intently to Orehael's speech with very little change of emotion. Inside, two thoughts were battling in his head - a part of him really wanted to trust him, but the other kept pushing it back, saying there was too much evidence against him to be able to trust his words. As the man fell silent, he opened his mouth to speak - as if on cue, the floor began to shake and any words he might have said were instantly drowned out by the thunderous roar of an erupting volcano. The other companions were soon running into the cavern, a few screaming at the sight of Kith's decapitated head, and soon they were all huddled in a corner. Silas stayed near them, near enough to see Layre, but didn't join them. Instead, he shifted through his pockets and pulled out the piece of paper he had been writing on all trip, now crumpled and torn, and read the names again. He grabbed a paper, added some and scratched out others. Soon his list read:

He read them all, stared at the names, utterly lost at which one he should choose. He bit his lip, then, finally making a decision, circled Myrra's name.

At first, I thught Vasquez was gong to ignore me, but she stopped and looked me over.

"I suppose since you carry the ring you should learn a few defense moves," she said, and we began.

At first, I was horrible, but she was too polite to remark on it, but eventually, I think I got the hang of it. At any rate, I seemed to be able to keep up with her, although I'm sure she slowed her normal pace to match mine.

Somehow, just the simple fact I was doing something made me feel better. The ring didn't seem as heavy, nor the future so bleak. If I had to put a name to it, I'd almost say I was having fun.

I looked over at Algernon, even occupied with what I was doing, he was never far from mind. I smiled at him warmly, and was rewarded with one of his own.

As we moved I asked, "Vasquez? Why are you doing this? I mean - going through all this to destroy the ring?"

She looked at me.

"Because it's evil, and I hate evil. And..." She paused and I waited to hear her finish. She looked over at Orehael, then contiued, "And because I won't be free until I do."

Freedom, I thought to myself sadly. I knew what she had meant, because, now more than ever, I desired mine.

Layre looked on as Vasquez taught Lynnia some basic defensive moves. Is that really for defense or is there a deeper meaning to all this? Suddenly the ground began to rumble, Layre's eyes grew round. She had never heard or felt anything like it before. Oh my gods, it's the Magrodors coming for the ring!

Although inside she was terrified, Layre had long ago learned the lesson of keeping fear from showing on her face. The old healer had reveled when she saw fear upon Layre's face and would beat her with her walking stick screaming, "NOW YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO FEAR!!" The only thing that ever betrayed Layre's feelings was her voice, and as a result withdrew into herself, rarely speaking. This trip through Silas had taught her what it could mean to communicate freely with someone without fear of trying to hide something. But others of us are not so. Some of us have plenty to hide, even using words as their mask.

Layre made her way to the back of the cave, slumping down against the wall, palming a knife she had secreted away in preparation to defend her life. Dear gods I beseech you now, do not let this be an attack.

Algernon kept close to Lynnia still desperate for her. He longed for her like no other. She had always been kind to him, and always had cared. He fpllowed her through, wondering how she felt for him.

There had been others before her, and she wasn't the most beautiful of them all physically, but she stood above the others. She cared and felt like no other... and she made him feel warm, in the cold shell of a man he was.

The cave was vast, and dark... which was the perfect setting, to make his move.

He placed one hand on her back, closed his eyes, and gripped her other hand. He pulled her around, until they were eye to eye.

I sat and watched Lynnia learning from Vasquez. Lynnia was a quick learner, though I still doubted whether she would be able to protect the ring if need be. I wished I could feel better knowing that Algernon was nearby her...but I didn't. Algernon couldn't be trusted. He was either a traitor or an idiot--after all, he had worn the ring. Either way, he could not be trusted to protect the ring from his own hands, let alone the hands of pure evil.

I was growing uneasy in this cave, my back against its sharp stones. It was still dark and I could feel my senses dulling as I sat and did nothing. It was maddening, not knowing ones fate, not knowing if the mountain was erupting or if we were under attack. All I knew was that I could sit still no longer. I stood from my spot and began to wander. This room was not all that big and I wanted to get away from these people...from these people I could not trust.

Quietly I walked along the edges of the room, my back staying close to the walls as I skirted around the others. Finally I reached the opening that we had went through, headed back into the cave where we had spent the night. I would get Vasquez's food bag for her and any other supplies I could carry. It gave me a purpose, and therefore made me feel better with our situation.

I continued my walk quietly and carefully, my eyes searching the dark as much as possible, on the alert for any Magrodors that may be near. I saw no evil, but the rumbling of the floor continued. It was ridiculous, I thought, for us to stay penned up in this cave. Yes, there could be Magrodors outside, waiting for us to leave the safety of the caves walls so they could kill us...but that wouldn't be logical. If there were Magrodors outside this cave just waiting for our move, why did they not flood into the cave and kill us all? Why would they be coming from below? No, it made more sense to think the mountain was erupting. If that was so then we should be fleeing! I knew the others would not listen though--many of them were too scared to even stand and some did not trust me.

I finally reached the spots where we had slept and gathered up Vasquez's things. I turned and headed back to her, to tell her I had retrieved her food and her bread was again available. It was the only thing to settle her stomach, after all. Making my way back to where the others were, I walked slowly. I wanted to rush to Vasquez, but the others were not company that I was eager to return to. I found myself stopped outside the opening to where they all stayed, and I backed against a wall, dropping to a sitting position.

Vasquez's bag was in my hand and I stared at it blankly. I looked through the opening towards where I knew they all awaited their fate, and suddenly my mind wandered. I no longer saw the cave in which I sat.

Instead I saw the small stream that ran behind my childhood home...and I saw myself standing in the trees looking at the water. A young girl approached the stream, and though I hadn't seen her in years, I recognized her immediately as my sister. I emerged from the trees and my sister ran to me, throwing her arms around my neck. I hugged her tightly, lifting her body from the ground and spinning her gently around. Her laughter was music to my ears and I relished in the happiness its sound evoked.

Her laughter was cut short though as my father stormed from the house and ripped her from my arms. He threw her casually to the side and I heard her head impact with a nearby stone. She laid still...so still. And there were screams of my mother as she rushed to my sister's side...and then the impact from my father's blow upon my head. I had not fallen, though I had taken a few steps back. When I looked at him I saw the hatred and shame in his eyes and I knew those same things reflected back at him from my own eyes. My vision tinted red as my fist swung through the air, landing on his flesh again and again...and again...and again...

A single tear slid down my cheek as my memories faded and the cave once again came into view. Realizing where I was, I buried my face in my hands and cried as I had never cried before.

I felt Algernon come up behind me. I'd been concentrating on what Vasquez was showing me, that I'd not realized he moved. I stopped what I was doing as he placed his hand on my back. I shivered. I felt him reach for my hand and turn me around. Our eyes met, then I turned back to Vasquez. She was watching us with a knowing smile playing on her lips.

"Thank you Vasquez. That was very, exhilirating. I'd like to learn more,later if you'll teach me?" She nodded and I turned my full attention back to Algernon.

He led me to a secluded spot, and my heart sang. For now, at least, he wanted me. We sat, his arms around me, with my head on his chest. I listened to his heart beat, and was comforted.

"The other night I had the most wonderful dream. I was standing on a balcony overlooking the ocean. The sun was shining, the gulls cried as tey circled overhead, and the salty, clean smell of the ocean wafted through the air. Best of all, you were there beside me, and you loved me. There was no mroe ring, no more evil, just us. Then I woke up. Instead of sunlight, there was darkness. Instead of birds and salt air, erupting volcanoes and sulphur. And instead of love," I trailed off. I sat up and away from the comfort his arms promised.

"I don't expect you to love me Algernon. After all look at you compared to me. You've lived so long and done so many wonderous things, while I'm just me. I bet you've heard the names they call girls like me, and mayhaps even used them yourself. I'm not worthy of someone like you. It's like a peasant wanting a king. And I do want you."

I turned so I was looking directly at him. The darkness hid his eyes from me and gave me the courage to go on.

"I love you Algernon. I didn't start this quest looking for love, but it happened. All I ask is that if this is a game for you, please don't let me know. I'd rather have my fantasy that you could actually care for someone like me."

Trembling, I turned away. Now would come the derision, the scorn, the laughter.

No matter what, you will not cry, I told myself. I was totally unprepared for what happened next.

I turned to head back towards Orehael but was surprised to see that he was gone. Panic arose within me quickly as my eyes strained to see all the corners of the room we were trapped in. He was nowhere. I ran out of the room and towards the larger part of the cave where our belongings remained. I didn't see him sitting there and almost tripped right over him.

I wanted to yell, until I saw the shape he was in. There he sat, gripping my food bag and crying. I lowered myself to the floor and put my hand on his shoulder. "Orehael? Are you okay?"

When he first looked up at me, I wasn't sure if he knew where he really was. "Orehael? Are you hurt?" I started checking him over with my hands, searching for an injury. "Tell me! Are you hurt?" The panic was back, and was rising quickly.

He grabbed my hands as he shook his head, but still didn't say a word. Whatever it was, it had taken him over...and I could do nothing but wrap my arms around him and hold on tightly.

As we sat there, our heads resting together and my arms wrapped around him, he lifted his hand up and rested it on my stomach.

It hadn't been said, nor would it probably be said during this journey, but we both knew we needed to survive this journey. Together.

Algernon watched as his love walked away. He was moved by her, and indeed, he was a king, and she was a simple handmaiden. But he didn't care, he loved her. He leaped up the second she turned away.

Algernon ran towards Lynnia, and as she turned around, he pulled her in by the waist, and kissed her with all his heart, his soul, and his love. They kissed for a seemingly endless span of time.

"I love you too, Lynnia" he replied, kissing her again.

That night, the two slept together, in a passionate embrace that caught both in a sea of endless joy. Lynnia was the first woman he truly loved, and the feeling was shared.

That night, Algernon dreamed of a time in the future... and a time in hope...

Durr, I had an RP going and my dad "X"ed out of it. Grr. I'm going tohave to get it up tommorow, it's so late in NY (stupid stupid homework). Just letting you all know that I'm not innactive! But I might not be able to get a proper RP up until 4:00 PM tommorow for NY, and right now it's 10:00 PM... I'll try and get a small one up tommorow morning, though, with my votes. Bleghhh.

I sat and cried, losing myself completely. I felt someone run into my legs, nearly falling on the hard ground. Then there was someone before me, a hand on my shoulder, and a voice spoke. "Orehael? Are you okay?"

I looked at the person in front of me, my eyes unfocused. I couldn't see her, but that voice...it evoked happiness deep within me. Could it be? Eruanna? But how? How was she here...in this cave? Why? Why was she not resting at home with mother tending to her?

"Orehael? Are you hurt?" Her hands roamed my body, feeling for wounds, "Tell me! Are you hurt?" No, this was not Eruanna. Eruanna would know with one touch and her hands would heal even the gravest of injuries. This was not Eruanna...then who? Who else made the darkness in my soul disappear, the weight lift off my shoulders, and happiness warm the depths of my heart? I looked again at the woman before me, my eyes struggling to see in the dark and my mind racing for answers.

Vasquez. It was Vasquez. We were in Hinith, she was on a journey to destroy the ring, as was I. I grabbed her hands and shook my head. I was not injured...not anymore. Those wounds had healed...they had healed them after...after I had been punished.

Vasquez wrapped me in her arms, her head and mine resting together. We sat in silence for a while as I slowly regained what little composure I could manage. Slowly I lifted my hand and rested it on her stomach, willing the tears to not fall again. She needed to live. I needed her...I would do anything for her.

I lifted my eyes to look at Vasquez now, and I saw the concern as she looked back at me. I offered a smile, though I knew it weak. "Do not worry over me, my love. I am but a simple elf unfit for your concern. It is I who should be worrying over you..." I held up her bag, "I fetched your bread." And this time the smile I gave was true as I handed the bag to her. She sat, staring at me. Her eyes held a thousand questions that I knew I could not answer. Not now...

Korinne awoke from her long sleep. In the cave it was as dark as ever, so she had no hope of telling the time of day. Perhaps it was about noon. No, probably later then that, she thought.

She decided to get up and walk around. Korinne saw, in the distance, Orehael and Vasquez. The two seemed to be together alot, Korinne thought. Taking a deep breath, she decided to walk up to them. She hadn't talked too much at all, Korinne thought, but it takes two to tango. Korinne wasn't going to talk to herself, and as much as she tried to introduce herselves to others, she wasn't getting much of a reply back.

From a distance, Korinne decided to speak, as to not look as though she was eavesdropping if she walked up towards them, as they were facing the other direction. 'Hello, I'm Korinne. I have heard you're called Vasquez, and you're Orehael. Just want to say hi, as it's getting a little lonely back in 'my part' of the cave.'

I had seen her before, and knew she was named Korinne, but I hadn't heard much of her. She is one that several of us had shared our food with in an attempt to keep her from starving. I slowly put a small piece of bread in my mouth while I looked her over. She seemed harmless, but then again so did almost everyone else here.

"Nice to meet you Korinne. Sit a while." I nodded to the space next to me and watched as she sat down. At first nothing was said, but then she spoke.

"The rumbling...what do you think it is?"

Starting a panic would do no good, so I opted to lie through my teeth. "Oh I'm sure it's just the ground settling. These old mountains do that you know." I flashed her a grin. "Nothing to worry about, I'm sure."

The look on her face told me that she didn't buy what I was saying. "So, if that's true, why are we all hiding in the back of the cave?"

I looked at Orehael who returned the glance. I knew not to let him try to come up with something, although I was proving to be just as poor a liar as my sweet Orehael. "Well. What do you think we should do Korinne?"

"I am so sick of this... I don't want your damn ring! I could have it if I wanted, but I don't. It's not even that pretty! These rings I foun- uh, received as a gift are much nicer. I just want to be rid of that ring. I want it to all go away so I can go home. I hated Clo, I hated Death and I hate this awful cave! You think I like being out here with all of you? This is not my idea of a good time!!" Calliope stopped as her words began to register in her mind. Oh my, I did not just say that... She cleared her throat, "Ahem! Well, I'm sure you're all delightful... I need a drink."


ooc: It's a little out of character for her to act like that, but she hasn't got much attention lately and she's acting out. She doesn't know what drove her to say those things and she's pretty ashamed of it now. Calliope would hope that someone would be nice and help her to drink away the memory of her embarassing outburst.

Vasquez looked at the girl a bit before nodding to a space on the floor beside us. Korinne sat and began to speak, asking what we thought the rumbling was. I was tempted to speak and tell her the mountain was erupting and soon this cave would be filled with lava...but I decided against it. I was in a sour mood and my words, obviously, could not be trusted at the time. Vasquez, however, chose to lie. And she did so very poorly. The girl was not ignorant to the situation and she quickly caught on, turning the conversation back on Vasquez. Vasquez cast me a glance, one which I returned, not knowing what to say.

"Well, what do you think we should do, Korinne?" Vasquez questioned the girl, and I wondered if it were a rhetorical question or one that Vasquez truly wanted an answer for.

Korinne smiled although she was obviously nervous, and replied, "Lay low? Ha, I don't know really. I suppose the best thing to do would to be not panic. But I mean, how can we do that, when people are dying like.. every day. I suppose getting your mind off the sadness ought to help. So, tell me about yourself."

My entire life had been full of sadness, and although I knew not the entire story of Vasquez's life, I knew that hers was not much of a happy tale either.

'Well, overall.. I suppose yes, better then most. Better then most Melanians, I mean. Most of the population lived in poverty. Being born into one of Melanians most historic, and heroic familes, however, guaranteed me wealth, and success. If I failed a test; I passed, if I was insulted or bullied, that person was severly punished. It eclipsed me, really. I was not strong Korinne, the descendent of fairless Melanorzt Deva. Instead, I had somebody to fight for me. Even the subtle of things, my bodyguard stepped in for me for anything' Korinne sighed. She had never told anyone how much this effected her. "It has devastated me, and I don't know how to handle it."

This was something I wasn't sure how to react to. In my life, I'd never thought about whether or not I could handle something. I just did. "I don't think we have any other option Korinne. To not handle this would be to admit defeat. Look around you Korinne. We're not in Melani. Your bodyguard is not here." I scooted a little closer to her, hoping she would truly listen to what I had to say. "Everyone has the power inside of them to do something - to change something. It's why we're all here. We don't want the Magrodors to get that ring. It would mean the end of life as we know it. Evil would consume us all. If we were all strong enough - all willing to fight like we never had before, then maybe we wouldn't be hiding out in this dark gloomy cave. Maybe we'd be out of here by now, and on to another city."

I could tell my words had effected her deeply. I picked her hands up and looked her in the eye. "The best advice I can give you Korinne, is to always go for the throat. If they can't breathe, they can't fight. It's better then hitting them below the belt." I winked at her, causing a bit of a smile to emerge on her face.

As I moved back over next to Orehael, she asked the dreaded words again. "So, you never told me about yourself Vasquez."

"Oh well...there's not much to tell I guess." Oreahel squeezed my hand, a way of telling me that he felt it safe to tell Korinne what she asked for. "I'm from Death. My parents were slaves." I paused, realizing how long it had been since I'd really thought about my parents. "I had a younger sister too, Isil. We were the best of friends. Even though we lived in such a desolate city, we were happy. Then one day the Magrodors came to Death, looking for their next victory. That day they would rob and pillage almost every home in town. My father liked to think he was handy with a sword, when in truth he was not. He was only trying to protect my mother." Orehael's arm went around me as I finished. "My sister and I hid underneath the table, a kitchen knife in my hand. It was the first time I'd ever held one, and the first time I'd killed a man with one. We ran and hid for days before I had to leave her to find food. I came back to her lifeless body - a message to me that they would find me too."

I sighed heavily as I considered how much Korinne really wanted to hear. "I spent years on the street, begging for food just like the beggar we helped in Death. Evetually I would meet Saxton. He took me in, gave me a home and taught me how to fight. He would be the one that taught me about the ring, about it's powers and about how necessary it is to destroy it before the Magrodors get it. But...Saxton was killed during the original journey to destroy the ring. He was their third sacrifice. I vowed to finish the journey - something that I almost regret, since that simple vow has stripped me of my freedom. He will not let me rest until I see his mission completed."

Korinne blinked her eyes a few times as she stared at me. "So...you're not afraid of those guys that you killed in the bar. You're not afraid of the Magrodors. You're not afraid of being killed. But you are afraid of a ghost?"

I don't think she could hear me as my answer was a mere whisper. "Terrified." It must not have fallen on deaf ears though as Orehael held me tighter.

As we sat together, a voice startled me. "You're Korinne right?"

Myrra still sat quietly and alone, not sure what to do. She looked around at the other companions spread throughout the cave. She sighed.
I hate sitting. Sitting and waiting is boring. Especially when its in the situation we're in right now.
She looked around again, and spotted Duran. He was sitting alone on the other side of the cave.
Why not. Im bored. He looks bored. Go talk. You need something to occupy yourself.
Myrra got up, and strolled over to where Duran was sitting.
"Hi.." She said, settling down a couple feet away from him.

Ack!!!! I'm so sorry, Gerb. :bombface: Below is a long RP. I'm not gonna even speculate at how long, but it's just long. :p

"Amethyst? Are you okay? What is going on?"
Amethyst suddenly snapped out of her daze, her eyes no longer drawn to the intense gold glow coming from the hidden room. "Haydar!! Get in here quick!" She released the magic holding the door shut, allowing all who wanted in to come in.
"What's going on here?"
"Look!! Look, in the room!!"
"What room?...." Haydar's voice trailed off as he gazed in awe at what the secret room held. "Oh my God......."

Several others entered the room, following Amethyst's and Haydar's gaze to the hole in the wall.
"Amethyst? Do you really think?..."
"I'm not sure, Haydar. I think..."
"Could it really be true?"
"I suppose... the legend did say something about being hidden inside a cave."
"I just really didn't connect it to this cave, I mean, what are the odds that it would be in Hinith of all places?"
"Very... very slim. But there's a chance nontheless."

The small group behind them had begun murmering and grumbling among themselves. Amethyst turned and explained. "What we've found is a gold stockpile! A treasure trove from a lost civilization. I hadn't dare dream to wish that we'd find it... ever."

The small group now crowded to get a glimpse of the 'Gold Room'. Inside they saw, illuminated by the gold orb, a real treasure trove. Wall to wall of gold coins, two feet deep. Irregular boxes inlaid with rare woods, precious metals and gems. Goblets, crowns, jewelry of all sorts, loose gems even. And this is just what they saw. What they didn't see was the bend in the cave that went to a much, much larger chamber.... containing the Gold Palace. Not the Hidden Palace, ((lol)), but the Gold Palace. But this secret would be lost for further centuries, as the events in the next hour would prevent any further exploration.

Durin ran toward the back of the cave screaming, but above his screams were heard the roars of something ferocious, mighty, and most likely quite fearsome. The small group in Amethyst's room quickly abandoned the prospect of being quite rich in fear for their lives. Haydar was about to leave when Amethyst grabbed his arm.
"Wait a minute, ok? I have a feeling..."
The ground trembled beneath their feet. Amethyst quickly forgot about her feeling and hurried Haydar out of the room. In her haste, she was only manage to grab a few spells, her spellbook, and her satchel with her gem charming equipment. At the last moment, she shot out an incantation to the hole in the wall, and it sealed up instantly. "At least I'll be able to find it again," she thought.
"Amethyst, let's go!!" Haydar was pulling on her arm. Another resounding rumble and a sharp boom came from the entrance of the cave, and the ground began to heave. Amethyst said a quick anti-entrance spell and sealed her little room off of the rest of the cave. When she returned to her own time, she would be able to find the cavern again, locked up inside this mountain... or volcano, but Amethyst didn't want to dwell on that possibility.

The pair hurried along to catch up with the rest of the group. They stopped at a dead end of the one other passage that branched out of the cave. Some of the other companions looked up in surprise. Amethyst noticed that the rumbling had indeed stopped, but that did nothing to reassure her worries. She and Haydar found a small stone 'bench', formed by nature, and sat down. Far off in a corner, a stream trickled, which in turn fed a lake out in the cavern. Amethyst heard murmurings about Kith's decapitated head being found floating in the water. She sighed. Her fears were confirmed. No longer were the quiet ones prey. Even the noticable ones had to go some time or another. Amethyst just hoped that she would be able to last a little while longer. And it was in this moment that Amethyst realized a mistake she had made, and she had to rectify it. Now.
"Um.. Haydar, I'll be right back."
"Ok."

Amethyst turned and walked over to where Vasquez was sitting. Their arguement that morning had left, Amethyst at least, feeling uneasy. Vasquez was speaking with Korinne, and Amethyst didn't really want to disturb them, but felt she had to, in a way.

"Um.. excuse me, Vasquez?"
Vasquez shot Amethyst a hateful look. Amethystwinced in spite of herself. "What do you want?" Orehael's protective grip on Vasquez tightened somewhat, but this escaped Amethyst's attention.
"I just wanted to... apologize.. for this morning."
"What about it?"
"Well... it's just that... well, I suppose I blamed myself more than anyone for Caara dying. I deserved to die there... I was supposed to.. and then what I did-"
"Was awful and selfish and downright rude! You really need to think about what you say before you say it."
"I'm really sorry... it's just a way of venting my anger.. to-"
"Take it out on someone else?! Well, I'll tell you something. Before you go taking your anger out on me again, you'd better have a very good reason for it. Otherwise I might not be so understanding." She said this last part while fingering her knife. Amethyst gulped, and quickly left.

Haydar had opened his food sack and started eating.
"Well, I'm assuming that went well."
Amethsyt sat down wearily. Loosing her temper always took a lot out of her. "Not as well as I had hoped it would. She's one tough cookie, that Vasquez. She won't give an inch."
"True, but you did push her to that point, if you remember correctly. You started screaming in her face about Caara, when you were just as much to blame for her death as she was."
"I know. It's just hard to admit you're wrong, even when you know you are. I guess I'm just a little .... defensive and quick-tempered at times."
"Hey, it's happened to the best of us," Haydar said between bites.
"Yea. I just wish..., oh." She sighed. Haydar's arguement had proved to her that apologizing to Vasquez was the best thing, even if she didn't accept it right away.

"Wish what?" Amethyst and Haydar whirled around to see....

BTW, it looks like Durin's is the only vote we're waiting on. If anyone's wondering, Algernon has the most votes to be sacrificed with 5 against him--the next person is Calliope with 3. There are 8 votes to go to Mitheldor, 6 for Lethys and 2 for Melani. Soooo, as of now it looks like Algernon's gone and we're headed for Mitheldor. Sorry, Infernal...

RP: BANG. Durin cursed loudly. Though they had been in the caves for several days, he was still not used to the unsettling, impenetrable darkness that was swathed over all the companions. Rubbing his head with his sweaty right hand (which also clutched his food sack; he had needed to carry with him everywhere since they had arrived in Hinith and entered the caves), he felt for the wall with his left hand. He gave another “Ooof!” of pain – his bleeding hand was testimony for the unfortunately sharp spot he had happened to bump both his head and hand into. Durin cursed again.

He staggered back to the small part of the cave he had stationed himself at and claimed his own. Sitting down, he carefully transferred his precious sack of provisions onto his crossed legs, and then on a second thought, stuffed it hastily down his shirt. Can’t trust anyone here. Still haven’t found any stupid traitors yet, he thought darkly. It had been a while since his last day in the sun, the hazy exhausting morning after the brutal murder of Caara. He shook the thought out of his mind. He knew it would only lead to…
He returned to his work. Picking up the long stick he had found, and sticking the tip of his tongue ever so slightly out of his mouth, Durin painstakingly continued drawing scales on the figure. Soon, horns appeared out of its head, and a wide cavernous mouth appeared. It stood over a circular object which was so small there was only enough detail to make out the wide eyes and the mess of long hair that covered the head. And for the thirtieth time, he began to etch a name into the dirt. K… I… T….. To Durin’s great displeasure, he was interrupted. A peculiarly loud sound was coming from somewhere near the front of the cave.

Durin grabbed his sack and crept toward the entrance. Though he had spoken with few companions the last few days, he was aware they were making an effort to stay away from the entrance. Magrodors, he thought with a shiver. How could Algernon be so… Durin broke that train of thought. The dull environment the companions had been cooped up in was getting to him, and he had been searing much too much lately. He was nearing the bright entrance now. And the sound was much more noticeable now. ’S’not my imagination. Oh shoot. “Hey guys? Uh… I don’t think this could possibly be just me…” He broke off. From what he could see, the majority of the companions were away from the entrance, a few gathered in Amethyst’s room. He wished to know what was going on there, but as he saw an inkling of fear in another companion’s eye… Durin ran from the entrance, arms beating wildly. “Move away! Listen, will you?” He yelled out as he dashed back, hoping the others would follow his lead. Let me save these people from others, though we can’t save us from ourselves. “Run, morons! It could be Magrodors!” Others started running as well. Durin fought the urge to shut his eyes tight. The rapid, frantic motion around his told him that running through the dark cave was dangerous in its own way. Several tripped or fell – Durin saw Serenity fall, only to have Elroen help her back up, as the companions fled down the cave.
CRASH. Durin felt himself collide head first with what appeared to be the end of the cave after what felt like hours of running. “Aw, havens,” he moaned, clutching his head. The other companions slowed down, and it seemed as if he had been the first to reach the end, and the only to hurt himself. Clutching his head in his shaking hands, Durin looked up from the ground to see what he had crushed into. “Havens,” he breathed. “It’s a dead end.”

The companions had settled about the end of the cave, none having the slightest clue of how to escape. After around half an hour of fruitless attempts to claw the wall apart, Durin collapsed on the ground on side of the dead end, breathing heavily.
“Hi...” Durin looked up to see a figure looming over him. The vibrant red hair that swung as the figure sat down reminded him of the identity of the figure. He squinted in the dark. The amazing hair was the only thing he could see clearly.
“M-Myrra? That you?” He squinted again. A small smile answered his inquiry. “How’re you doing, love?” He grinned, and turned to face her. A blush crept up his neck, and he said quickly, “Begging your pardon. Habit, you know.” Rubbing his head, he said quietly, “Seriously though, how have you been doing? You took quite an injury at that pub… And then had to lug…Him… back from…” Durin trailed off. “Man, Myrra, ‘m sorry. You were closer to him than I was…” Do I really feel like talking about this? I’ve been avoiding the subject for days now. “Dunno,” Durin mumbled, “Just didn’t think he’d… y’know.” No longer feeling up to looking at her, he turned his head to the side. Don’t cry in front of her, he thought fiercely.

Yep, but giving away all your food will result in a starvation death. The third force can still steal food from everyone though, including the person that was given food.

hehe I miss haylifer too. Kith was a fun character.....and his letter made me laugh lol

Durin seemed truely upset about Kith. Myrra bit her lip, trying to keep from crying.
"Yeah....it was uh....I really didnt think it would happen.....either..."
Her voice was shaking from trying to hold back the tears. Myrra cleared her throat quietly. She continued, answering his question.
"Ive been fine. Elroen had some healing things for me so....I was ok. Thanks for helping me, by the way, dragging him back....you know......I never said thanks"
Durin looked up at the ceiling, sighing. "Its alright."
Myrra looked around, then turned back, "What do you think that rumbling was? I mean....I really hope its not too bad.." She had by now, thankfully, managed to stop herself from bawling, and could now talking normally.
"I really dont know." Durin broke off, seeming to be thinking. "I hope its not anything we wouldnt like. But it really does seem like it, I mean, the whole cave shakes, how can it not mean bad news?"
There was a moment of silence. The longest moment ever, as Myrra found herself unwillingly thinking over having found Kith dead in the cave, or what was left of him anyway. All her efforts to keep from crying were wasted, as she suddenly wasnt able to hold back any tears. She buried her head in her hands, not even caring of Durin knew she was crying.

Sacrifice Day 5 Results

The companions were still grieving over the death of Kith. His death seemed to put a toll on the entire group, but there was no time for mourning Kith. Something was chasing the companions and nobody knows what it is. The roaring coming from outside the cave made it's wave inside the cave. Was it the Magrodors? It had to be. They've found their campsite and the companions knew they couldn't hide for ever. Now they are stuck in the darkness.

How did the Magrodors find out where their campsite was? Who's fault is it? Everyone waited quietly for death to arrive and nobody said a word. An anonymous companion pointed out that Algrenon had word the ring and he helped lead the Magrodors to them. Everyone was getting more and more suspicious of Algernon and the fear of dieing suddenly turned into rage. "He has to die! He's a traitor!" one companion screamed.

The roaring and footsteps were getting closer and louder. All of the companions could hear the Magrodors. I was an entire pack of them and they ALL knew they were going to die in the next minutes.

Around 8 companions took out their weapons and surrounded Algernon. One particular companions took out their sword and swiftly jabbed it into Algernon's heart. Algernon collapsed to his knees and his soul eventually died.

Algernon was a Companion. Thank you for playing Infernal.
After his Death- Written by Infernal

Algernon's body was sent off to Lethys, away from the group. Lynnia looked as his coffin was sealed, and cried deeper and with great mourning. She clinched the bag of diamonds in her pocket, and knew that they would one day, buy her freedom.

When Algneron's body reached Lethys, the streets lined with those who knew of his quests. He had lived for 1,672 years, and in that, had saved Lethys many a times. Agatha watched as her timeless grandfather, from high above her in the tree, made his way down the street. She put a single flower, from the fields of Lethys in his hands, and helped seal him in.

The body was paraded to the fields, and up to a great tree that Algernon had planted when he was only a child. Underneath, he was layed to rest in a tomb, and sealed away for all of time.

However, while his adventures as a mortal had ended, his journey in the Higher Planes had just begun...





Despite the death of Algernon there is still a problem.The Magrodors are still coming and they are trapped. There is only a very small opening, but even the smallest companions couldn't fit through the hole. All of the companions take out their weapons and prepare to fight their enemies.

A few minutes later the companions see a small but swift creature running towards them. It was Elendil and she looked very desperate and scared.

Elendil: Give me the ring! I know you have it and I can protect it. The Magrodors can smell the scent of the ring and if I can take it away then you will be safe. I am much faster than any of you.

Lynnia has the ring. So, with the help of your companions decide what to do. Either accept or decline the offer.

Moments later, the companions hear a horrific scream coming from another side of the cave. All of the companions run to see what has happened.

It was Layre soaked in a bath of blood. It was most likely the Traitors that did this. The companions all noticed her eyes were a ghost white and something was carved into her forehead. Someone notices a dirty cloth wrapped in between her fingers. It had a message on it:

Silas sank to his knees next to Layre's body and lifted her head gently, cradling it in his lap. He was beyond words, a fine mist coating his eyes. He was fighting it, closed his eyes, his head drooped. Not here, not here, please not now, not in front of them, I won't show them weakness...

A tear rolled down his cheek, and he remained deathly silent. Silas needed to get away. Lowering Layre's head back to the floor, he stood and wiped the blood on his hands on the stone, then stood and returned to his pack, silent all the way. He pulled out food - five in each hand, giving one to both Amethyst and Serenity. "Here," he breathed softly, trying so hard not to break into tears. "It's all I can spare."

Madeline sat in the cave awaiting the Magrodors. By now, many have died... too many, and all of them, Companions. The pitch black cave expressed perfectly how she felt for the last couple days... or weeks? She felt engulfed in sadness, death, and was numb. She hadn't uttered a sound since she helped Algernon and now he too was dead.

What could she say?

RP: Durin watched Myrra carefully, fearing he had upset her. Well, it wasn't as if either of them wasn't upset already, but you never knew. Myrra had responded, but Durin was paying more attention to Myrra's face than to her words. Poor Myrra... She looked as if she might cry.

However, Myrra was obviously strong. "I've been fine. Elroen had some healing things for me so.... I was ok. Thanks for helping me, by the way, dragging him back.... you know...... I never said thanks."

Durin stifled a grin. Kith's end was sad, but he had lived so well. Durin could almost smell the booze reeking off of the passed out Kith. We'll have to go drinking aga- Oh. Durin turned up his face to keep the tears in his eyes from dropping. "'s alright."

"What do you think that rumbling was? I mean.... I really hope its not too bad." Myrra seemed to have pulled herself together again, and seemed to have put the matter aside for the moment.

"I really don't know." Durin broke off, thinking. There was always the threat of volcanoes, but this had sounded closer. Almost... alive. Durin pushed that thought away, blithely responding "I hope its not anything we wouldn't like. But it really does seem like it, I mean, the whole cave shakes, how can it not mean bad news?" He hoped she would laugh; she had seemed so sad recently, he just wanted to see her toss back that red hair and be happy again.

Oops. So much for that, Durin thought nervously. Myrra had buerried her face in her hands, crying softly. "Oh, erm..." Durin started, at a loss as how to cheer her up. "Oh, come on Myrra, don't cry! Kith lived well, he really did!" Now Durin was tearing up too, but he turned from Myrra to hide his tears. "Honestly, just relax a bit. Listen to the birds, erm" (there were no birds in Hinth), "to the quiet mumbling of the volcanoes" (Myrra was wiping her eyes, smiling slightly), "to the rumbling of the..." Durin paled as he realized what was making that muffled roar in the distance.

"Myrra, love?" She looked slightly surprised, but he plowed on, wishing he had someone's pockets to pick besides his own. "Let's, er, get back into the cave a bit more." I didn't know I had some Longbottom weed in there... Algernon'll like that. "Really, I have a feeling it's a bad time to be out here..."

Durin tugged her arm, and lead them into the center of the cave. Unsurprisingly, most of the other companions were there. Oh, havens. "Well," Durin said nervously, "I think we'd better, er-"

Nobody was listening. Durin doubted that anyone was listening to anything but the slowly increasing decibel of the rumble of the Magrodors. His voice echoed around the cave. Then, he heard the name. Algernon. "Oh no," Durin muttered, thinking of him. It all seemed to fit.

Durin felt terrified. This is it. We've finally got a... a traitor. One of them. If only there was some way to insure that they got even one Magrodor before they... before they died.

Durin shivered as he watched Algernon struggling, staring in horror at the sword running through Algernon’s chest. Durin supposed he should pick up his knife to prepare for the Magrodors, but he didn’t have the heart to. Durin felt decidedly odd. Algernon should have been a Traitor. It had made so much sense, and yet – he was just another companion. Forgive me. Oh please, please pleasepleaseohheavensplease-

Another loud BOOM came from outside of the cave. Durin jumped, and slowly, watching Algernon and the mantra repeating in his mind, he picked up the knife. He would grieve later. Now he had to – Well, not exactly fight, not my strong suit, but… Do the best I can. Another spasm of pain flashed as he realized they could really use Algernon’s skills right now.

Durin half-heartedly attempted to thrust the knife in the direction of the sound. I should have paid more attention to my defense classes. He was in no way prepared for whatever onslaught the Magrodors would bring… Durin whipped around, knife flashing, as he heard a distinctive running sound. Not a Magrodor, but the strange creature they had met earlier in the journey. Elendil.

Durin listened numbly to her offering, not able to concentrate. He watched Lynnia look at the Elendil anxiously. He had no advice to offer, at least, not now.

Durin tried to think of something to say, anything to redeem himself, when he heard a scream. Good, anything to distract me from this. Probably Amethyst found the holy jewel of Hinth or something. Durin stumbled to follow the sound of the scream. As the other companions pushed against his back, trying to hurry him up, Durin looked around for Amethyst. But no, Amethyst was breathing harshly on his neck right behind him. He looked down slowly, a feeling of dread creeping up his spine.

Layre. She looked like a dead swan Durin had once seen in Mitheldor. So graceful, so sad… Dead. The cave was completely silent, only the loud snarls of the Magrodors. Durin watched mutely as someone opened a dirty cloth, and read aloud “You will not find the Palace in Mitheldor.” Durin felt a wave of relief as he realized they would not have to go to his hometown. He was still on the run, as it was… But neither Algernon nor Layre would ever see his home.

Oh my gosh. This is getting really... intense. Poor Algernon and Layre. I was so sure Algernon was something bad. (Hah, it would have been funny if he was the fairy.) I just can't believe this is going so fast. :(

I really have no clue what to do about the Elendil. On one hand, we could really use the Magrodors to be drawn away, seeing as if we fight it's likely some of us will die. But she might take it. Just because she would have given us food doesn't mean anything to this... Or does it?

EDIT: Oh, I didn't even look at the food, I was so busy trying to get my RP up! Durin would love to give five to Serenity, and ten each to Amethyst and Korinne. That way you all have fifteen, with the food Derange gave.

I awoke to find Algernon looking down at me solemnly. I reached up and caressed his cheek.

"Tell me I'm awake and this is not but a dream. Tell me."

"This is not a dream, and I love you more than any woman I've ever know." He bent down and kissed me.

"Why so grave then," I teased, a smile on my face. Immediately I knew, and I lost my smile. I'd tried everything I could and I still hadn't been able to save him. The knowledge of his death burned in his eyes.

"No please. There has to be something more I can do. I can't have failed you. I," He put his fingers to my lips.

"Shhh beloved. You did not fail me. You've cared and offered more for me than anyone ever has. The mistakes made were mine and no other. I've always known there is a price to be paid for arrogance, but it is my price to pay not yours." He laughed bitterly.

"And the fact that the price must be paid right after I've discovered a reason, a desire to live does not escape me. If there are gods, they are surely laughing at me now."

I sat up and drew my knees to my chest.

"So it's all for nothing," I said bleakly. "I find the happiness I've always wanted, only to have it yanked away cruelly. I can't lose you now. I can't just stand by and watch you die. There's got to be a way. Please. Tell me how I can save you." He looked at me sadly, and shook his head. I took him into my arms, and my tears rained down upon him. I couldn't save him, all I could do was love him, and lose him.

How much time passed, I can not say. We heard the roaring from outside coming closer, and we went and joined the others. As we stood there, I think everyone knew death was close to us. They began to say it was Algernon who led them to us. My blood ran cold as someone, I do not know who, yelled "He has to die! He's a traitor!"

"No," I screamed as they approached him. "He's no traitor, please, don't do this." No one listened. I was shoved out of the way and could only watch in numb horror as a blade was raised and plunged into his heart.

"Algernon," I yelled and pushed my way to him. I fell to my knees beside him. There was so much blood. He lived still, but the light was fading from his eyes.

"Please don't leave me. Don't go where I can't follow," I begged him. His eyes went to the people surrounding us. "Et Tu", he whispered, then died. I kissed his lips one last time then closed his eyes forever. My eyes were dry, but my heart cried for him.

I stood and looked at the others. None could meet my stare for long.

"You fools. He was innocent and yet you were so afraid of him you killed him." I laughed derisively. "Listen. You can hear them getting closer. And you just killed the one man who could've saved you. Now we're all d**ned." I turned my back on them.

No one spoke. We stood and waited to meet our fate. A sound, different than the approaching hoard, caught my ears. I turned in time to see a small figure rush to us. Elendil.

"Give me the ring! I know you have it and I can protect it. The Magrodors can smell the scent of the ring and if I can take it away then you will be safe. I am much faster than any of you."

All eyes focused on me. I was saved from a decision by a horrifc scream from the other side of the cave. We raced over, only to find Layre, dead. She was covered in blood and had something carved into her forehead. Someone discoverd a piece of cloth in her hand. On it were the words You will not find the palace in Mitheldor

My eyes went to where Elendil crouched, waiting for an answer. Algernon hadn't trusted her before, should I do so now?

I stood still and watched as Algernon was sacrificed. I could feel the anger within the group as they took his life. He had worn the ring and put us all at risk. Because of him, we were trapped in this cave while the Magrodors closed in on us - while we stayed, too scared to attempt to flee.

My heart broke as I watched Lynnia hold him one last time. This was a place that I had been in once before...and a place I hoped to never revisit. I looked away, not wanting to watch the pain on her face as she said goodbye to the man she loved.

It was maddening - being trapped in here while the rumbling persisted. Never being one to sit and wait for something to happen, I decided to use the time while Orehael was occupied with his thoughts, and check out the second exit again. I was surprised at what I had found. The opening that I had managed to squeeze through, was now smaller. No matter how I tried, I couldn't fit. I looked around, making sure I had the right corridor. This was impossible! How does an entire passageway shift?! I had just gotten back to the group, feeling a bit more defeated than usual, when I heard the discussion that was starting.

Elendil was back, and was trying to convince Lynnia to give her the ring for safe keeping. My eyes narrowed as I listened to her reasoning. How did she know that Lynnia held the ring?

My plan to tell her my opinion was interrupted by the sound of an ear piercing scream. We ran to the back of the cave, horrified to find that Layre had been murdered. She lay in her own blood, with strange writing carved into her head. How had they done this? How ... when we all stood in the same area ... had they managed to murder her?

I looked around at the people that stood with me. Someone was killing us all off one by one. I looked over at Orehael as I thought about who the traitors could be. I was only able to come to a single conclusion - that there was only one person here that I could trust. Everyone else, would be watched.

Madeline sat in the cave awaiting the Magrodors. By now, many have died... too many, and all of them, Companions. The pitch black cave expressed perfectly how she felt for the last couple days... or weeks? She felt engulfed in sadness, death, and was numb. She hadn't uttered a sound since she helped Algernon and now he too was dead.

What could she say?

I've been reading watching, it's really only the rping that i'm not caught up with.

The rumbling of the ground beneath us had changed--the sound now came from outside the cave instead of from below. I had thought it was an eruption, but it seemed now that my assumption was incorrect. The Magrodors were nearly upon us. As we huddled in the back of the cave I caught Algernon's eye.

This was his fault. He wore the ring and he had cursed us all to die a terrible death, to be tortured at the hands of the Magrodors. I had been tortured before, though I knew that what I had faced in the past was nothing compared to what would be done to me if those vile, evil creatures got a hold of me. My eyes narrowed as my glare fell upon the one responsible for this mess--Algernon. Lynnia pleaded for his life, she tried to convince us that he was not a traitor. I did not believe her, and I do not think any others did either. It all happened so quickly, and soon Algernon was dead.

We had made another mistake, had sacrificed yet another innocent. I looked around me and wondered who the traitors could be, and how they managed to hide themselves so easily. It seemed all who acted suspiciously were innocent...so perhaps those who acted innocent were not? My mind raced as I thought of those who seemed the most unlikely, and wondered if they simply played the part of companion...

My thoughts were interrupted by a scream. We found another dead...Layre. A traitor among us had killed her with us all so near. How were they doing that? How were they capable of killing another right before our very eyes, yet remaining hidden? It made no sense and I silently cursed myself for getting too lost in my thoughts to even notice that another innocent was being slaughtered.

I looked to Vasquez, the thoughts and memories filling my head. She made me happy. She loved me. She was the only one I could trust. But did I deserve her? My entire life I had failed, unfit to protect my people, unable to protect my sister. Would I be able to protect Vasquez if need be? Or would I fail her too? I shook the thought from my head. I would not fail her. I could not fail her. I only had a future if with her...

Korinne and Vasquez were from opposite backgrounds, really. Here was Korinne - complaining that everything was given to her on a plate, and there was Vasquez, deseperatly needing food.

Korinne felt closer to Vasquez now. Vasquez had a difficult life like Korinne did. They had something in common; for the first time on this journey Korinne had felt like she had a friend, some to watch her back.

We whirled around to see one of our companions running in our direction. "They are coming!" he screamed. Then we too heard the load roaring. "Oh no, it's the Magrodors ..." I said to Amethyst. We all thought they were coming for Algernon. Eight of us took out their knives and swords and killed him. It turned out that we all had been wrong - he was innocent and did not mean to harm anyone. We had no time to regret our mistakes as we had to run again. But there was another scream. "Who was that?!" someone said and then we all saw that Layre was also dead. "The traitors ..." I said under my breath. Poor Layre, she had been an innocent companion as well.
Suddenly Elendil, whom we had met earlier, appeared. She said that she could take the ring to bring it to a secure place outside the cave - she was the only one to fit through a tiny hole in the wall. "But would that stop the Magrodors from attacking us?" I said to Amethyst and added "problably not - they already know where we are. And who tells us that Elendil won't use it for her own purposes? We haven't been good to her last time, maybe she is seeking revenge ..."

XXV is 25, which on the list is the city Eid. So maybe it's saying the palace isn't there either.

You guys, this is the very last season that doesn't require pictures- and I'm pretty sure it's the last contest in here that doesn't require pictures. Don't about having to take pictures each round, just do your rpg each round. I PMed boolpropped before the contest and it was decided that contestants had to do at least one rpg per a round and no pictures.

If you want, you can post pictures of your sims with your rpg(s), but it will just be for fun.

I looked around at those around me, my eyes stopping on Vasquez. She stood alone, looking at the others just as I was. I knew the only ones we could trust were each other. I was safe with her, and she with me. I could not say the same about anyone else.

I crossed the distance between us quietly, but quickly. The Magrodors were still searching for us, their growls and rumblings growing stronger. I needed to feel her skin against my hand, I needed to reassure myself that she was real, that she was here, that she was safe. Reaching her I offered a smile and brushed the back of my hand against the soft skin of her cheek. Her eyes closed momentarily as my skin touched hers and she smiled slightly. I sighed and took her hand in mine, leading her to the edge of the group.

Sitting with my back against the stone of the cave, I pulled her to a sitting position in front of me and wrapped my arm around her. We could still hear the discussion of the group, and could quickly stand to offer our opinion. I wanted to be able to hear any decision made by the others, but even more I wanted to hold Vasquez.

"My love...what do you think of Elendil? I am not sure we should trust her with the ring...but I fear if we do not we will die at the hands of the Magrodors..." I spoke softly in her ear, awaiting her reply. Her opinion was the only that mattered to me, for she was the only one I could trust.

"I'm not sure Orehael. I still don't trust her. I think it will be a mistake to give her the ring."

"But my love, the Magrodors..."

"We can fight the Magrodors! For the life of me Orehael I can't figure out why we are even still here - hiding away in this cave as they get nearer and nearer. We are missing our chance to escape with every second that we sit here in fear!"

He put his hand on my shoulder, turning me towards him. Looking me directly in the eyes, he said what I never wanted to hear or believe. "You are not invincible my love. They can, and will, kill you."

I shook my head defiantely. "If they haven't killed me yet, they won't. And it is utter madness to send the ring away with her! What if she gives it to them?"

He was speaking so softly that it was hard to stay mad. "It's a chance I fear we must take. If it means sparing your life, then I shall risk her taking the ring."

I turned myself back around, leaned back against him and folded my arms. With a scowl on my face, I repeated what I believed - this time loud enough for everyone to hear. "We'd be fools to let her have that ring!"

Orehael wrapped his arms around me, laying his hands across my stomach. "You are impossible woman."

I sat in shock... I was almost sure Algernon was a traitor although I didn’t think so…until he put the ring on and placed us in so much danger… but now he was gone.

I heard it… someone screamed and it wasn’t from the front of the cave. It came from within. Layre was… right here… we were all here and no one saw a thing. How many people have we lost in this cave? too many... I say lets give Elendil the ring and get out of here. I don’t want anything to do with this place anymore. Not that I ever did but it’s getting so hard to just sit here. I want out.

Silas cradled Layre’s head in his lap and he tried very hard not to show his emotion but I could see in his eyes. I haven’t gotten to know either Silas or Layre very well but he was hurt by her death. He left her side and returned with some food and offered five to both Amethyst and me "Here, it’s all I can spare” he said. “Thank you Silas,” I said quietly as I took the food from his hand.

"Oh, come on Myrra, don't cry! Kith lived well, he really did!" Durin turned his head away. "Honestly, just relax a bit. Listen to the birds, erm" He paused, Myrra ran the statement over in her head. What birds? We're in a damn cave. "to the quiet mumbling of the volcanoes"
Myrra let out a small giggle, wiping her eyes. Durin continued still, "to the rumbling of the..." He stopped suddenly. "Myrra, love?" Myrra was startled by the statement. Durin continued. "Let's, er, get back into the cave a bit more. Really, I have a feeling it's a bad time to be out here..."
Before she sould speak, Durin grabbed her arm and lead her to the middle of the cave, where they found some companions surrounding Algernon. Myrra's blood turned to ice, not another sacrifice! One companions stabbed Algernon through the chest. Myrra looked away, shaking. There was no reason at all in this. We have a stampede of magrodors after us and we are still killing those we think are guilty, thinking its going to help us somehow.
Indeed, Algernon had been just another simple companion, he was innocent, and they had killed another helpful person. Making themselves even more vulnerable.
The magrodors were coming closer, Myrra could hear, and so could everyone else. They will find us.
She ran to her stuff, getting out her weapons, and ran back to Durin, who had gotten a knife of his own. She knew the chances of surviving were slim, they were obviously insanely outnumbered but, if she were to die, she would die fighting.
Myrra spotted a small creature running toward them. She squinted through the darkness, is that....Elendil?
It was.
"Give me the ring! I know you have it and I can protect it. The Magrodors can smell the scent of the ring and if I can take it away then you will be safe. I am much faster than any of you."
At first, the idea was out of the question to Myrra. Shes obviously bad news, she thought to herself, scowling.
However, the sound of the magrodors was drawing ever nearer. Myrra knew, deep down, that whatever Elendil would do with the ring, even if its bad, would most definatly be better than all of them getting ruthlessly slaughtered by the magrodors. If they give it to Elendil, at least then theres a chance of everything coming out ok.
"I think we should give it to her." She added. She wasnt alone, many others also agreed. However, she knew it was up to Lynnia, who held the ring.
Myrra stood, waiting for Lynnia to make her choice, when a scream pierced through the cave. She turned in the direstion it came from, her heart already hammering. That cant be good.
She ran, along with everyone else, to see what happened. On the other side of the cave was Layre. She was in a pool of her own blood, and already dead. Myrra couldnt believe it, a wave of anger rushed over her. How could this happen! It was right there, she was killed right there and they were so near. It was in plain sight.
Silas was holdiong Layre's head in his lap. Myrra looked around in disgust. One of the very people hovering over Layre, feigning surprise and sadness, was the very person who did this. Who else was there besides just the companions?
Myrra turned and walked along the wall until she was far enough for her liking. She stood for a moment, before kicking a rock out of the way as hard as she could, and sitting down in its place.

I sat there listening to them give their opinions to each other and the air in general, but not to me directly. In fact no one had spoken to me since... my mind shied away from saying it.

How I wish you were still here with me, I thought as I looked at the body lying in front of me.

Or that I was with you. I can hear their thought. How dare you not be the traitor they created in you? My love I think you would be able to appreciate the humor in that. I see them glance furtively at me. Do they think me mad with grief? Do they think I picture revenge upon them for your murder? Do they think of my death?
I know the choices for us are bad. We either keep the ring and have to face what is rapidly approcahing us, or run the risk of giving up the ring and having it fall into the very hands we're trying to keep it from.
I can't bring myself to just blindly accept Elendil's prescence here. It feels too contrived. How did she manage to get by what is approaching? And for that matter, has anyone actually seen any of these things? I'm not willing to go on blind faith. Blind faith is what got you killed.

I looked at Elendil again. I didn't trust her. I stood and walked over to her. She looked up fawningly. I could feel the eyes of the other companions on my back. I took a deep breath. Wish me luck, my love.

"I don't trust you, and I'm not giving you the ring."

Bp said pictures are not required for THIS contest. However, for contests posted AFTER this one, they ARE required. So if I wanted to post the Hidden Palace 4 in the contests forum, it would be required to have pictures per a round.

The Cave Situation

Elendil: Give me the ring! I know you have it and I can protect it. The Magrodors can smell the scent of the ring and if I can take it away then you will be safe. I am much faster than any of you.
Lynnia: I don't trust you, and I'm not giving you the ring.
Elendil: What a foolish decision. I could have helped you trick the Magrodors and help you escape from this cave. Now you are all by yourselves. How do you expect to get out of here?

Elendil hears the roaring coming closer and she quickly runs away, through the small opening of the cave.

Calliope looked up inside the cave, searching for a way out. Suddenly, a drop of water splashed onto her head and drizzled down her cheek. "Ahh not another one!!" she accidentally screamed out. Then, two more dropped onto her head. Out of anger, Calliope picked up a good sized rock and threw it hard towards the ceiling of the cave. Once the rock hit the ceiling a large splash of water dropped onto her head. Almost like a small pond. "What the hell? Why is there so much water falling from this damn cave?"

Korinne picked up a large rock and threw it up at the cave's ceiling in the same spot Calliope threw it at. Water started to come out, but this time the water didn't stop.

The Magrodors were now in sight. They were a distance, but they can now see them.


Korinne: You guys! Start throwing rocks at the ceiling! I think there's a river above this cave!

Suddenly, the companions worked as a team and started to throw rocks at the ceiling. Haydar and Orehael both found a huge stone and threw it up at the ceiling. Water was now flooding the cave, but barely. The Magrodors were just about to reach Durin until suddenly

Moira picked up a rock and threw it up at the ceiling. This last throw unleased a huge wave rushing up from the cave. The wave flooded the entire cave and even the magrodors could not fight this giagantic flood of water. The water rushed everyone out of the cave and into a white river. This river was rough and some of the companions had a hard time swimming, but at least they are safe from the Magrodors.

This river will eventually lead the companions to their next destination.

Sacrifice Day VI

Mitheldor is divided into two areas. Land and water. Most of the creatures of Mitheldor are aquatic and live in the waters. Mitheldor's land is very vacant, and the other cities are a huge threat, because they will most likely take over Mitheldor's land. But these creatures do not care that much, for being on land is much more dangerous that living in the waters.

The waters of Mitheldor contains one of the most prosperous and richest cities of Middle Earth. This kingdom is large, especially for underwater. A large white castle is built up into the sky, where the royal family lives. The rulers of underwater Mitheldor are very kind and are loved by their people.

Mitheldor's land is a different story. The creatures that live on land live in a horrible area and they are always being threatened by the cities that are amongst them. Their land is very vacant, with very little buildings. However, there are still many creatures that live in large communities on land. Many creatures try to escape the land to live in the waters, which is a better life.

As you know, this city does not contain the Hidden Palace, but the companions decide to stay for a day until they decide which city to travel to next. Fortunately, all of the companions can breathe underwater for long periods of time. Their food magically floats inside a bubble, so it does not deteriorate.

It is morning and the companions are very weary. It is the same morning when the companions were stuck in the cave. The companions all dive in the waters and form gills to breathe. A teller invites you to stay in her house, and you all accept.

The chain of events leading up to our arrival in Mitheldor were...interesting, to say the least. I had been so sure that we were all going to die at the hands of the Magrodors. We saw them coming for us and visions of our fate flashed before my eyes--unending torture never satisfied by death. It was luck that a river happened to flow above us, and that the rock ceiling was fragile under the weight of the water. Pure luck...or was it? Could it have been fate that saved us all? A higher power aiding us on our quest to destroy the ring? I do not know. All I know is that we are all safe...all of us who survived the sacrifice and the traitors anyway.

As we rushed through the cave, carried by the water with a force greater than any of us could control, I held tightly to Vasquez's hand. I needed to make sure to stay near her, to ensure that her head did not fall beneath the water line. Of course, I am sure she stayed close to ensure the same thing of me. It was an odd sensation to be swept away by that water. A mix of emotion had filled me--happiness and relief that the Magrodors would not reach us, and fear that we would have escaped only to die in the waters. I knew only that I would not allow Vasquez to drown while I still had breath in my body.

Amazingly, we all seemed to be alive and well when the river finally calmed. We had climbed out upon the land of Mitheldor, quite disappointed with our choice of locations to travel to. The palace was not here, and we already knew it...yet here we were. We all decided to stay a single day to decide where to go next...and the question had been asked of who we thought to be a traitor. I sighed as I realized this meant another sacrifice. This time I prayed that I chose correctly.

"Serenity," I said, my eyes not meeting the eyes of any others. It seemed from the beginning we had been picking incorrectly--we had focused on those who seemed the most obvious. It seemed that perhaps the opposite tactic would produce the results we desired. The traitors were probably the quiet ones, the ones who seemed the least likely. Serenity was at the top of that list...

Our belongings still floated in the waters of Mitheldor, surrounded by a seemingly magical bubble. We all jumped in to retrieve our food, only to find that our bodies somehow grew gills, allowing us to breathe under the water. "Strange magic," I thought with a frown, and was about to swim back to the surface when a teller approached us. She invited us to seek refuge in her home...and we all agreed. "So we finally have made it out of this cave ..." I thought "but it was a lucky escape, the Magrodors would have nearly gotten us". This thought was still making me shiver, I had really feared for my life when they were coming. I took a look around and saw that all the remaining companions looked exhausted and weary. "We will all be happy when this ends ..."
Thinking abot the ending ... "Who could be the traitors?! We already had accused so many people and always had been wrong ... I once nominated Silas, and I still think he could be one ... But I have also previously thought Korinne could be a traitor and this feeling is stronger at the moment!"
We also had to decide where to go next. I took a look at the map and realized that I had never been this far away from home. I missed my parents and friends and was hoping to survive the adventure to see them again.
"It looks as if Myonador would be a good place to go ..." I said to the person sitting next to me.

RPG: As the water swept the companions into Mitheldor, Moira had trouble keeping her head above the water. When everyone was finally able to get to dry land, Moira saw that all the bags of food where in bubbles. "Wierd..." She said to herself. Then she noticed she had gills. "This is getting even weirder!" She said. A teller then introduced herself to the companions and invited everyone to stay in her house. Everyone accepted.

Myrra heard the exchange from where she sat against the wall, still fuming.
"What a foolish decision. I could have helped you trick the Magrodors and help you escape from this cave. Now you are all by yourselves. How do you expect to get out of here?" Elendil ran away, through the small opening nobody else could fit through. Myrra couldnt believe it. They were all going to die now, die!
The roars of the magrodors were even closer than before. Myrra jumped to her feet and ran to look out the opening, in the direction they were coming from. She took a step back, they seriously sounded like they were right around the corner. She continued to watch until she saw movement. She squinted her eyes, gazing down the cave. It was the magrodors, they found them.
Myrra turned away, This is not going to end well, she thought solomnly. She left the opening, not wishing to be the first victim. A large glob of water fell on her head. Myrra ducked, looking at the ceiling, "What the...." Another large splash hit her right in the face.
"You guys! Start throwing rocks at the ceiling! I think there's a river above this cave!"
It was Korinne. Myrra turned to look in the direction of the magrodors, they were much closer now. Trembling, she picked up a rock and threw it up.
Some rocks later, water was still pouring from the ceiling, but it was still not enough. She turned to see the magrodors now very close. We wont be able to do this on time, She thought desperatly. They weren't far from Duran.
Before Myrra had anytime to do anything, she felt a giant wave of water sweep her up from behind. She struggled, holding her breath, as the water cascaded through the cave.
The water swept everyone out into a river. The rapids were overbearing. Myrra struggled to keep her head above the water, hoping not to drown. She managed to get her head up enough to gasp for air, only to have another wave crash over her. Cant believe it, she though, annoyed. They had very luckily managed to escape the magrodors, and now she feared they wouldnt make it through this river.
However, the waters calmed eventually, and everyone was unharmed more or less. Myrra dragged herself up onto the river bank, totally spent. They were in Mithledor now, and already knew the palace wasnt here.
Myrra jumped into the water, along with everyone else, to retrieve her belongings. She realized, much to her surprise, that she had grown gills.
This is so weird....I must be on something. Myrra felt the side of her neck where the gills were.
A teller approached them, asking if they wanted to stay with her. Everybody agreed it sounded like a good idea.

Silas drifted down the river on his back in dead silence, watching the clouds roll by overhead, lost in his own thoughts. In fact, it was not until they reached the teller's house that he seemed to break from his trance. Glancing around at the others, he took in a deep breath. He had been watching them all, keeping track of who they had voted to sacrifice, and had come to his decision on who he believed the traitor was. Orehael had voted with the majority four times - Haydar, Vasquez, and Myrra followed with three. He heard his name called and furrowed his brow in frustration, stood tall, and said quietly, bitterly, "At least I have not killed an innocent person and tried to condemn two more to death, Haydar. And at least I am following a logic pattern to try and find the people who killed Layre." He turned and walked from the teller's home, opting to sit as far away from the others as he possibly could.

Ha! That's actually really good logic Silas has there. The only problem I can see is that he insinuated (sp?) that Haydar was responsible for the death of 3 innocent people...but only 1 of his votes resulted in a death. The last one for Algernon. Same with Orehael in fact.

EDIT: Just in case anyone cares, Orehael voted for Algernon 3/5 times. The first time he voted for Madeline (and yes, he was just going along with the majority), and the fourth time he voted for Amethyst (and was the second to do so--Infernal changed his vote to her later).

Suddenly Silas said "At least I have not killed an innocent person and tried to condemn two more to death, Haydar. And at least I am following a logic pattern to try and find the people who killed Layre." I was surprised that he was acting that way. Was I right with my suspect and did he just try to convince people of his innocence? "We all voted and we all have made wrong decisions that we regret as I am sure"! I replied. "I have not based my voting on what others said, I tried to find it out for myself. It seems as if I am not very good at finding out things but I try to make the right decisions." I closed my eyes and a single tear was running down my face.
I was looking forward to the end of all of this, all I wanted was the ring to be destroyed. My usual optimism had gone and I just felt ... wrong.
"Amethyst ..." I thought. "The only good in this whole thing ..."

Ok. Not like the pressure is on or anything here :rolleyes:, but I have to pick someone and try to be okay with it. And I'm starting to think that 123 has made this whole "traitor" thing up just to fool us all. So here goes - nothing personal to who I list here, but this is who Vasquez picked.

The last time I held on to anyone this tightly was when I was escaping with my sister. There were times when the water rushed over us that I couldn't tell which way I was facing in the water. Orehael was slightly ahead of me in the water, holding my hand tightly. Perhaps he didn't see me go under, something I was thankful for as he certainly would have panicked. Perhaps it was good that he was not aware of my fear of the water and of the fact that I couldn't swim. I clung to him for dear life while I met my match - the water. Everything else in life I could fight, but here I was at the mercy of the raging water - unable to control my destiny.

After what felt like forever, the river calmed down and we all started climbing out of the water. I coughed a few times to clean the water out of my lungs, assuring Orehael that I was fine as I forced a grin on my face.

I stood up straight as I enjoyed the feeling of my feet on firm controllable land again. We would be spending the night here while we all decided where to go next. I checked my leg holsters and boots, making sure my daggers were still in place. Amazingly all I missed was the one still lodged in the side of the mountain in Hinith. I'll be needing to replace that if we can ever find a shoppe around here somewhere.

Just as I was pouring the water out of my second boot, our belongings came floating down river, encased in a protective bubble of some sort. "Oh for cryin' out loud" I muttered to myself as I pulled my boot back on. "I am not fond of squishy socks at all." I said as I stepped back into the river to grab my belongings. Orehael was a few steps ahead of me, grabbing our food bags. The water felt as if it were pulling me in and trying to claim me. I could feel my throat closing up as the panic started to rise. I turned to exit the water but was pushed back in by the remaining companions who were entering to claim their own belongings. "Ore..." The fear took over as I realized that I was trapped in the water. It was happening...I was going to die. Right here, during the one time that Orehael had his back to me.

I tried to grab my belongings but couldn't reach them. Before I knew it, I was underwater and waiting for my death sentence - my eyes squeezed shut.

"Open your eyes"

I opened one eye and looked around me. Amazingly enough everything was clear. A beautiful woman stood in front of me, her hand on my shoulder. "It's okay. You can breathe now."

I gasped loudly, expecting to inhale water but found that I could breathe just fine. Before I could thank her, she surfaced to the water, pulling me up with her.

Everyone still stood in the water collecting their belongings, Orehael included. Just as I was wondering if he even noticed I was gone, he turned towards me. "Do you need help with your belongings my love?"

The woman who gave me the gift of breath apparently gave it to everyone. Seeing that we had no place to go, she opened her home to us for the night. We followed her back underwater, my hand gripped on to Orehael's arm, still scared at the thought of being stuck underneath the water.

I was still clinging to Orehael that night as we sat together and talked about the upcoming sacrifice. He told me who he had voted for and why. It did seem to make sense. There were several who lay quiet during the trip. Of all of them, there was one that I had been suspecting for a while. It would be him that I would name. I buried my head in Orehael's shoulder as I softly prayed that I would be right, and that this time we would kill a traitor.

Madeline watched as Silas told the others what he thought of them. She definitely respected Silas, he had enough courage to tell his feelings.... unlike someone. She wanted to confront him, but noticed how long it had been since she chatted with him. Would he still remember her?

As we were floating down the river I was terrified. I had no one to hold onto… no one to assure me that things were going to be ok. I’ve never been a great swimmer so I had a hard time keeping afloat.

The river slowed down and we managed to get to land. It was Mitheldor. I never believed the Palace was here. Someone is influencing us to choose the wrong places; we should have found the Palace by now.

We were all tired from the ordeal we just went through… the Magradors in the cave and the rushing of the river. I want to stay and rest, just for a day. As we sat the discussion came up… where to travel to next, along with that there would be another sacrifice… I grow more and more weary of these… we haven’t been right yet. I turned as I heard my name be called… by Orehael. Choosing me because I’ve been quiet, hadn’t Carra been quiet and she was innocent. “I say Orehael is our traitor,” I said with a bit of spite in my voice. Maybe I choose him because he choose me or maybe it’s something more. I know I had suspected him before and he’s always been in the forefront of my mind as the traitor but why? As I sat there thinking about it I had my reasons… now he’s almost like a leader in our group. Stepping out and making decisions with definiteness of purpose, like he knows what he’s trying to do… he knows where he’s trying to lead us. I said it again, “Orehael is our traitor and I say we travel to Eelvin.”

RPG: Kheelan had enjoyed the slippery dip feeling as he and his campanions all were cascaded from the cave, it was so nice to enjoy some fresh air for a change even his silence was unusual, his head was now often empty as the pain was unbearable, his eyes could only produce so much water as he was bone dry, he thought what Arion would be doing as he imagined them being stuck into the cave together him holding her hands as they were catapulted from the cave and laughing together for the blessing they have been given to escape the Magrodors.

Kheelan sighed and knew he had made it so far, he touched his heart and felt a warm glow shroud him closing his eyes firmly shut, I've made it halfway I'm just a few steps away before I can finally put your soul to rest as he thought to himself.

Another drop of cold water splashed on Calliope's neck, making her skin crawl. This is disgusting! I can't wait until Lynnia hands over the ring so we can get out of this cave. Then she heard Lynnia say to Elendil, "I don't trust you and I'm not giving you the ring." Calliope's jaw hung open. What did she just do?!? She's doomed us all! How does she think we will survive against the Magrodors? Or... somehow, she's not concerned about that. Maybe because she is one?
Calliope's train of thought was interrupted. The other companions were getting anxious about something... Then a drop of water fell onto Calliope's head. I have had it with these m*****f****** drops of water in this m*****f****** cave!! In a fit of weak, completely non-threatening rage, Calliope threw a stone at the ceiling.

(floating down the magic river....)

"Help! I can't swim! I'm sinking! I can't breathe underwater! I'm drowning!! I'm suffocating, I-" Calliope stopped. She was talking underwater. Drowning feels good... I like it!

They ended up staying in the home of one of the water creatures. All 15 of them. Calliope looked over the companions. Who could be a traitor? Her eyes fell on Korinne.

RP: “No!” Durin swung around and hit the cave wall as hard as he could in response to Elendil’s abrupt departure and lack of help. And yet another wrong decision. Shoot. His hand stung as the perpetual drips of water stung his broken skin. He cursed, and crossly turned to look at Calliope, who was hysterically complaining about the drips of water. We’ve been cooped up in here for far too long…Durin averted his eyes from her, yet was stunned at what he saw at the far off cave’s entrance. The Magrodors were now in vision.

Durin dimly heard Korinne call out “You guys! Start throwing rocks at the ceiling! I think there's a river above this cave!” He noticed that several others started throwing rocks at the ceiling. Durin bent down, eyes still frozen on the approaching Magrodors, and felt around for a small rock. He took a moment to stare at it. Why’m I picking this up, again? he wondered vaguely. He looked around his slowly. Ah. Right. Durin half-heartedly through the small stone at the ceiling, and with displeasure realized to what effect their rock throwing was having when a blast of water fell down onto his face,. He hardly had time to register the event, and found his dazedly opened mouth filled with water, and his eyes slapped with the downfall. Spluttering, he wiped his eyes furiously. Though he was momentarily blinded, it ultimately did him good. Durin finally began to realize the seriousness of the situation.

Water was now gushing from the ceiling, cracks widening every second as the companions continued to throw rocks at it. The Magrodors were slowly making their way to the party, and again Durin felt himself freeze up again as he stared at the shadowy figures. Havens help us. For Middle Earth’s sake, let this water– He didn’t finish the thought. A Magrodor was slowly reaching a hand out to him. He was muttering a stream of curses and prayers, barely aware of the action around him.

It was then that the water broke through the ceiling.

The wave that ensued was, to say the least, Durin reflected later as all the companions were swiftly carried by the resulting river, monstrous. He had nearly fainted with relief as he was flung away from the approaching Magrodor, and was now clutching a large log, tightly packed next to the several other companions who couldn’t swim either, and were clutching the log with pallid faces. It was lucky, in fact, that they were being carried by the water – his legs felt so weak that he doubted he could have walked if he had wished to. He put a shaky hand to his mouth, worried that he was about to lose the precious remains of his last meal.

Durin was relieved to see that after what may have been hours or even days of swimming (or attempting to swim, in his case), that the companions ultimately decided to remain in the water, and take the teller’s kind offer. Thank Tolkien that we’re not going on land. It’s lucky that mom and dad steered me clear of the water, otherwise I might be recognized… From what he saw in passing, however, stunned him. The city seemed to have become even poorer and on worse terms with its neighboring cities that before. Hope they’re all all right. After the long journey, Durin was barely conscious as the decision to stay underwater was made, and only felt a muted version of the spearing pain that sliced through the sides of his chest and neck as the teller ran her long fingernails down his body, her kind face yet deviously lit eyes making Durin’s head ache with confusion. His nearly unconscious body crumpled as she passed over well worn scars, but he was surprised to find that after the experience was over, he could curiously enough breathe underwater.

Durin spent the time in the teller’s blue underwater sanctuary ignoring the after effects of the formation of his gills, blocking out the sacrifice looming above the weary companions, blotting his painful conversation with Myrra away, and wishing he could forget the memories that were constantly flooding his mind. And then, the time for his decision sprung upon him.
None of us are making this out alive. He grinned blearily. What difference is this going to make? And hour later, he stuffed a large scrap of paper with many cross outs and sketches in his pocket.

Calliope went outside Dreama's (I'm assuming that's her name) home and played in her "front yard". Weeee! I'm floating! I don't stink anymore! Oh, it's so pretty down here... The way the light shines down through the water... I bet I look amazing...
Calliope's thoughts went on like that as she propelled herself around underwater. Then she got to thinking about the Hidden Palace again. They had been searching for weeks and still found nothing. Calliope didn't have a clue where it was. Someone must know where it is... She thought for a bit. I wonder if these sea creatures know. That sea woman was nice enough to offer her home to us, I bet she'll share information with me. If she has any, that is...

Calliope waited until the other companions were away from Dreama before she approached her. "Excuse me, but... we are looking for a Hidden Palace. Would you happen to know where it is?"

It seems that I mae both a wise and unwise choice in denying Elendil a second time. Wise in that we, the collective, still possess the ring, and unwise in maybe alienating a potential ally. What's done is done though and by fate, or by luck, we all still live.
Mitheldor. I wish I could appreciate the beauty of the underwater world, or be awed by the magic that is allowing our visit, but I can not. My mind is too full and my heart is too broken. The ring also seems especially heavy, and I would swear it's taunting me. Even now it whispers.

One of the underwater inhabitants invites us to stay with her fo the evening. All agree it would be a good idea. Perhaps they think to regain some semblance of normality to their lives. Perhaps they think to cleanse some of the blood that's on their hands. I know that is impossible. I look down and it seems I can see the blood that stains my own, for I have also taken innocent life.

As a whole, we are a silent group, but that is changing as once again a sacrifical vote is called for. Does it really matter who we vote for next? Who will kill? For we are doing a better job than any Magrodor could do in defeating our cause. I looked around our diminished group. Half gone. And of that half, how many traitors are gone? How many innocents have been killed? How many more have to die? I am weary of death and sacrifice. All I want is what I now can no longer have.

I am restless and can not stay in one place. As I move around, I pass Silas. He has been mostly silent except for one bitter outburst. From somewhere, I don't know where, I summon a small feeling of sympathy for him.

"Silas." I wait for him to look at me. "I am sorry about Layre." Is my voice really that flat and emotionless? I can offer no more and go on. What have I become?

I hear Calliope ask Dreama if she knows where the Palace is. All Dreama says is that it is near. I wish I could laugh at that. It is really rather funny. I wander farther,

I come face to face with Dreama. Something in her eyes stops me. She would offer pity, condolences, anything. I open my mouth, and ask the one question that burns my soul.

"Whose hand gave my love the deadly strike?"

Her answer, when it comes, is no more, no less what I expected.

It is probably for the best, that I do not know for sure. If I was sure, then the gods help whomever was responsible. Still I wander and I know that for me there will be no rest, no comfort, no trust.

It was a strange sensation--being underwater, weightless, and carrying on as if on land. I was not sure how long I could stand this though. I was not a water creature such as these people we now swam among. Vasquez seemed a bit more relaxed in the environment, but I couldn't help but wonder why she did not tell me of her fear of water. Had I known, I would have been sure to keep a closer eye on her when the river had rushed at us...I would have done more to reassure her of her safety when we first realized our day would be spent in this water.

I was lost in my thoughts--a habit I had often--when I heard Calliope approach the teller. I could not hear what she asked, but then it hit me. Dreama was a sort of fortune-teller, more wise than even the elvish psychics. Perhaps...just perhaps she would have some answers for us.

When it was clear that Calliope's question had been answered, I approached Dreama. I cared not who heard my question so I did not hush my voice or wait for the others to leave.

"Dreama. There are traitors among us--someone is killing innocents off one by one and we are all turning on each other in desperate attempts to discover who the traitor is. Dreama, with your wisdom, can you tell us who the traitors are? Or at least who is definitely not a traitor? Please, I beg of you. My name has been called twice..."

I want to ask first of all, if there is anyone in Mitheldor who might have information for us. Secondly, would they be willing to talk to us and if so, where do I find them... but I don't want to use up a bunch of RPs for that... It's quite a predicament I'm facing.

Here's a question that's not for Dreama... Is there a specific question (questions?) we could ask that would give us clues or at least point us in the right direction? I feel like all the questions I would think to ask would give away too much information... Maybe if the questions are specific we'll get more of an answer. You know, something along the lines of "Is the palace in Pn?" Probably she'll just say she doesn't know for sure, but that's all I can really think of. To be specific.

edit: I have just realized that there's a "pn" written on the neck of Dreama, like it was before on Elendil's (?!) ... Maybe we really should go there *lol*
