okay! I would love to join. I'm assuming that the maxis-made home would be an uninhabited one?

Introducing: 200 Strawberry Hill - From the 'hood that came w/ Seasons.

Pricing: $31,649
Size Lot: 1x3
Beds: 2
Baths: 1
Other: Combined Kitchen and Living Space , Driveway , Yard

Though She isn't big, this renovated trailer is all any elderly couple, single parent w/ child, or roomies would need.
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/snapshot_00000007_56ea9a14.jpg
As you see, this lot come with a wonderful white rocked driveway and a duel swingset. Lets not bypass the shade tree, or the freshly mowed grass - all tied together in an ultra cute small package!
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/snapshot_00000007_96ea9a51.jpg
The inside is plenty big enough for light travel via the 3 tile wide hallway, and has just enough room for a miniture library and den area.
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/snapshot_00000007_f6ea9aa7.jpg
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/snapshot_00000007_b6ea9a9d.jpg
The Kitchen isn't the largest of areas, but offers a cheerfully bright environment for even the most unskilled cooks, with plenty enough counter space for multiple preparing.
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/snapshot_00000007_16ea9a87.jpg
The bedroom at the end of the hall is the largest of the two. Decked out in a more warm feel, this would definately be the perfect room for the eldest of the inhabitants, or for the woman of the house.
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/snapshot_00000007_16ea9abf.jpg
Never fear - The smaller bedroom is still keepin it comfy, with a mix of warm and cool colors for that bubbly environment you seek.
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/snapshot_00000007_56ea9acf.jpg
The bathroom is tiny, however it does supply one with the bare basics, which, is all that is needed really....

^-^ Definitely interested in joining (and it'll be my first contest!). I'll post my Maxis make-over here soon! Only question is: does the home have to be inhibited, like the Goth mansion, or can it just be any Maxis-made home?

Edit: Never mind, saw my question had been asked and answered already.
Good luck everyone! =)

Hi there Spiffy!

No, the house doesn't have to be inhabited, as long as it isn't a house in the lots and houses bin, or in a custom neighbourhood. I will add you to the contestants list! :D

clw8: Great application! I especially love what you've done with the terrain. :)

Norikoann: There is no real rush just yet, take as much time as you need, and PM me if you need any extensions. I'll add you to the list. :)

Liz, one question. May we use walls simply as a decorational purpose? Such as just a wall built in a line and not made into a full room?

tree4me
10th Apr 2009, 05:12 AM
Afraid not, Dozo.

You see, the shape of the house (that includes all walls.) is to stay the same, so unfortunately, no. If you have half walls, however, then you may, as it doesn't impact on the original shape.

Ended up staying up late to do the application. It was fun :). Well without further ado....
Here is 115 Riverbend Road from Riverblossom Hills.
This little house on a spacious yard cost's 26,535.
With
1 bedroom
1 bathroom
Kitchen
Livingroom
Study
This is a great house for those who are still single and dedicated to their craft of art.
The house itself is set on a beautiful lot. It contains a pond, a hillock, and a small garden. The house itself is wonderful with it's crawling ivy and flowers.
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u147/eternity_magicians/sim%20houses/snapshot_00000007_16eaa85e.jpg

The front room doubles as a livingroom/study. It's small but has just the right room for those of us single.

http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u147/eternity_magicians/sim%20houses/snapshot_00000007_36eaa667.jpg

The bathroom has the accouterments you need.
*no picture*
The kitchen is quite suitable with a lovely fridge and cabinets.
*no picture*

The study is where you'll really spend your time. It has an easel ready to be used, and a table where you can set all your supplies. There is also a wonderful mural painted on the wall to help inspire you. And if that isn't enough the study has a door that leads you straight to the pond.
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u147/eternity_magicians/sim%20houses/snapshot_00000007_96eaa5b4.jpg

The bedroom has the basics but all are lovely. A purple floor bed and an open dresser.

Here is an overview picture to give you the full spectrum of this lovely little house.

Tired of the hustle and bustle of Sim City? Time to get out into the fresh air? Sick of being surrounded by annoying neighbors? Rather be surrounded by trees? Then, this little cabin at 10 Oak Street in Pleasant Wood is the home for you!

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sism%202%20Next%20Top%20Architect/TA-AP-4.jpg

This little A-Frame is the perfect getaway home for you, the single Sim, looking for a carefree living.

Top View Close-Up (http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sism%202%20Next%20Top%20Architect/TA-AP-3B.jpg)
No muss, no fuss -- just the basics.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sism%202%20Next%20Top%20Architect/TA-AP-6.jpg

The back wall features a small kitchen area overlooking the back deck. You can eat outside or in . . .

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sism%202%20Next%20Top%20Architect/TA-AP-7.jpg

Small dining area gives you a view of the front wood. Tucked in the corner is the necessary room.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sism%202%20Next%20Top%20Architect/TA-AP-8.jpg

The house is open all the way: window walls front and back, open space to the roof. You'll never feel cramped despite the small size of this cabin. Plenty of light coming in from above and below, too.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sism%202%20Next%20Top%20Architect/TA-AP-5.jpg

Come on out back to enjoy an outdoor meal, or after dusk, you can become one with the universe gazing stars.

*** Sorry about the dark flicker-y wallpaper on the edges of the roof at the ground. They were just fine until I put foundation blocks in front of them to extend the porches-- that's when they started acting funny. I haven't stuck a Sim on the lot, yet, to see if that cures the problem.

Maxis Makeovers can be hard to do... You guys are doing a great job!

clw8- The little trailer is so cosy- it looks like my grandmothers house in her retirement village!

norikoann- I love the outside of your house- it looks like an abandoned/overgrown shack in the middle of the woods.

deatherella- What an interesting house (makes me wonder what Maxis was thinking!). Looks like it would have been a challenge to make over, but I like what you did to it. Well done.

I can't wait to see the rest of the entries. =)

When I first got TS2, I was checking out all the lots, when I loaded that one, I thought, "What the heck?!!!! How's a Sim supposed to live happily in this joint?
I saved a remake somewhere I made with the front extended out more with a loft for a bedroom instead of a sofa to sleep on, but that one didn't fit the ap rules.
I hope the roof walls don't count as adding walls.

Good, because I'm done with my application.

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/house1view5.jpg

This is 190 Main Street. Though technically in Pleasantview, I picture this luxury condo, priced at $120,518 (two bedrooms, 1.5 baths), in a very desirable area of Miami. It was built with a specific client in mind, a highly successful, recently divorced writer named Ellie Egan, who has twin toddler girls. I tried to make extensive use of the lawn, but felt it was unwise to leave a pool unfenced. Notice the little nook in the bamboo, which contains a table and three chairs for relaxing with cocktails on a cool summer evening. (Having recently reinstalled my game, I haven't used any custom content here, though there are some things from The Sims 2 Store.)

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/house1view1.jpg

Let's start at the top. The second floor contains the nursery, Ellie's bedroom, the full bathroom, a common area that's been set up as an office, and a balcony. The nursery is the least heavily decorated room. The twins, while they've got very distinct personalities, haven't developed much taste other than clashing favorite colors. The balcony is sparsely furnished, which should be a pleasant contrast to the small, tightly packed spaces of the interior. The office area, while pleasantly large, has little functional space. The lack of visual distraction is actually something very useful to a writer, though I have spiced it up a bit with a poster from the release of Ellie's latest book. The main bathroom features sleek and classic fixtures in white, neutral tiling, and several red accents. Not visible in this picture are the butterflies at the foot of the bathtub.

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/house1view4.jpg

Though she's not currently sharing it with anyone, Ellie has a double bed to spread out in. The colors in the sheets are echoed throughout the room. Mirrors are used throughout to create the illusion of space.

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/house1view2.jpg

The bottom floor contains a half bath, pleasantly furnished in neutral colors, and a combined living/dining/kitchen area, also known as a great room, which has been divided into sections.

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/house1view3.jpg

Again, neutral colors predominate, here with cool accents. Shoji screens close off a cozy living area, which has no TV, but rather a full book case. Ellie doesn't believe in television, and gets her news mainly online. The dining area seats four, and is situated right next to the door leading to the patio, which contains a barbecue and seating for three additional people. The kitchen area is delineated by its blue tile floor, and contains the stairs to the upper level. A coffee table with a small bamboo plant and a lovely white vase has been placed in view of the stairs. The kitchen itself contains top of the line equipment, a wine storage lattice, and marble topped cabinetry. An inlaid medallion adds interest to the floor.

Though small, this condo is worth every penny.

Welcome to 10 Oak Street. This house came in the corner of Pleasantview, and it was a derelict, easily broken into shack of a house.
Since those days, 10 Oak Street has been updated for modern life and times. Step right this way, and we'll begin the tour.

http://i40.tinypic.com/ndx34z.jpg
As you can see, this cute pumpkin of a house is situated on a comfortable, affordable lot not fifteen minutes from the city. However, the whole house is on its own street, so it's quiet the whole day long! Even better, the whole house is only $19,484. That leaves plenty of money left over for buying more furniture or outdoor accessories, even if you are a single sim starting fresh from college. The township even paid for a pool to be installed, so you get double your money!

http://i41.tinypic.com/14l36fr.jpg
As well as being adorable, those wooden linings serve a double purpose - they are DNA scanners. Any sim who comes onto your lot uninvited will be scanned (the whole process takes less than half a second, so they won't even notice!) and the system will check their DNA with known criminals and sims who have ever set off a burglar alarm. The police will catch them before they set foot inside the house, no worries.

http://i39.tinypic.com/9pqslg.jpg
The whole house is sweet and modern at the same time, something you hardly ever see nowadays. Convenience just fills the rooms. For example, do you see that bar sitting on the counter? It scans your counters, deciphers what ingredients you have, and displays ten meals you can make from those ingredients. Don't like the choices? Press the "next" button and it will display ten more. Find one you like? Tap it, and the recipe you chose will pop up!

http://i42.tinypic.com/4i0lr4.jpg
Now this is what makes the house really unique. See the room above the house? This is the bedroom, accessible by outside staircase or inside teleport. While it may appear that the bed is open to the wind, it is really surrounded on all sides by pure glass walls. Right now, the setting is on "open", which leaves the glass as-is. "closed" turns the glass black, which is completely opaque. "one sided" tints the glass so you can see out, but they can't see in. All in all, this is definitely the ultimate bedroom.

As you can see, 10 Oak Street is the perfect house for all of your needs. It is sweet and comfy, inexpensive and worth every cent. Meant for a single sim or a young couple, the open lot leaves lots of room for extensions of the house, home and family.

Thanks! :D I was actually nervous about my photo skills, but you just made me feel so much better.

For pictures, HP's Wiki page is a good help, here (http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title=Tutorials:Taking_Totally_Bitchin_Pics).
It's really helpful with figuring out settings. For my personal picture taking, I use the settings shown there, and then open into Tab and arrange my picture in the window. I do Print Screen, paste the image into Paint, cut out the red lines and upload =D
My graphics card isn't that great but the mods. and tutorials that MTS2 offers are really helpful.

Also, I just remembered that if you ever want a floorplan shot type of picture, since to get "looking down" angle you have to go into Buy or Build Mode and use the T button, I do this: Since I don't like the boxes that appear in Build and Buy Mode, I go into Terrain Paints and then click Tab and take my picture, because in Terrain Paint Mode it gets rid of the boxes. :D
And feel free to call me Spiffy or Spiff, doesn't matter ^-^ My real name is Kelly, in case you prefer to use that, as well.

It's that time of the contest! Here we are! Round 1!:

Round 1: My Perfect Starter Home

A newlywed Sim couple have decided to move out of their parents basement and to find a starter home. You, as a
builder/architect, have been hired to build a new home for these two Sims.

Here's the twist. Believe it or not, these Sims have personalities! *gasp* You are going to build this house to suit
their personalities.

Sim A
Name: (This part is up to you.)
Sex: Female
Main Aspiration: Family
Secondary Aspiration: (Up to you.)

Sim B
Name: (Up to you.)
Sex: Male
Main Aspiration: Fortune
Secondary Aspiration (Up to you.)

Bonus points will be rewarded if:

You use modding tools to your advantage. This is only achievable if you are picked as a favourite contestant of the
round. This can only be won once throughout the entire contest.

If you are picked as a favourite of the round. (5 points are added to your total score, an additional 5 if you used
modding tools to your advantage.)

YOU MAY NOT:
Choose your own Sim profiles. Stick to the one given, please.
Have tons of one tile corridors. Try to keep the house playable.
Have broken portals. (mailbox, rubbish can)
Use any more cheats other than the ones listed below.
Depreciate the house by playing it for days on end until you upload the pictures and give the description.
Edit your post after submission unless you PM me first. We don't want cheating, now do we?
Plagiarise other peoples work. Though Plasticbox's houses are fantastic, they aren't yours, now are they? You must
build your home from scratch.
Exceed 20.000 simoleons when building.

CHEATS YOU MAY USE:
boolProp allow45DegreeAngleofRotation true/false
move_objects on/off
boolProp snapObjectsToGrid true/false
RoofSlopeAngle and individualRoofSlopeAngle
boolProp constrainFloorElevation true/false

You may add pictures of your clients if you wish, but it will add to your total picture count.

PICTURES:
A minimum of four: That's one for the exterior, one for the top-down picture, a picture of your fave room and a
spare to use at your disposal. Please, no more than 8 pictures in your Round 1.

Good luck to all of you!

I have a question... what does it mean by "having broken portals"??

Does this mean - don't delete the mail/trash?

Oh, and are we suppose to furnish / decorate the house?

tree4me
12th Apr 2009, 02:12 AM
Broken portals: The portals are the mail and the trashcan, yes. It means if the mailbox and trashcan aren't accessible. So yes, if they are deleted or blocked off.

As for decorating, it's up to you, but I'd rather you did, as it needs to suit personalities.

HyghTyme_SC

Whoops :P. In any case, here's my entry.

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/house2view2.jpg

Priced at $18,901 this modern home was designed for Oscar and Esperanza Cruz, seen here enjoying the stone patio's barbecue and seating. The landscaping is simple but effective, featuring day liliies, box-shaped hedges, and a sculptural piece.

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/house2view3.jpg

Oscar is a fortune/popularity sim, and entertaining is very important to him. To that end, a bar has been included in the brightly decorated kitchen/dining area. The kitchen nook itself is very small, but serviceable. It also features a higher quality stove than many starter homes.

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/house2view4.jpg

Family-oriented Esperanza enjoys music, and the vintage record player and the synthesizer are her two favorite objects in the house. She also picked out the cool but bright color palate for the great room.

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/house2view5.jpg

In contrast, Oscar's preference for warm colors dominates the bedroom. Esperanza's influence is felt here in the softening touches such as the end tables and sheets, as well as a sleek vase containing several flower stalks. Notice that the theme of spherical Chinese lanterns is continued throughout the house.

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/house2view1.jpg

A look at the floor plan reveals the final room, a simple bathroom done in neutral colors. The mirror over the sink is decorated with photos of the couple's honeymoon.

Over all, the house attempts to strike a balance between masculine and feminine styles, and to do so without dividing into separate spaces for each. I believe it succeeds.

I went ahead and completed my round 1, so that I can focus on my need-to-do school projects. There is so much more that I would have liked to have done with this house, such as keep the beautiful white privacy fence that was surrounding the pool area, however, since all my junk costs so much, I didn't have any money left, and the fence had to go. Now, I suppose that the pool will be a hot view for all the neighboring peeping-toms! Oh well, I think that my fortune loving sim can fix that!
------
Meet Matthew & Kierra Princeton. Matthew is a 27 year old fortune & family loving guy. He hopes to start a home business and strike it rich. While he isn't being sued for embesslement, he hopes to hopes to have a kid or two, and hey - maybe a dog would be nice also! Kierra is 25 and aspires to have a wonderful family & be knowledgable too. While her main goal is to have kids with Matthew, she is also considering being a teacher or such.

This lovely, small and private home belongs to Jennifer and Koorah Buckville. Squares and simplistic shapes are Jen & Koorah's main style. Though they may be expecting a baby on the way soon, there is pleanty of room to build an ad-on to the house and can be done easily.

Minimalistic views and preferances are reflected throughout the house with square shapes and minimal furniture-saving for the baby is always a good idea.

Hey mom, it's Melena! I'm sorry it's taken me forever to respond, but the new house has just been... well, a handful! I can't even imagine how you and dad raised three kids and managed to keep every room spotless. But then again, it was always us you were ordering to do the cleaning, hehe. I wonder if I'll be the same when the twins come around, or if things will only get messier?

Anyway, I know you were worried about me and Michael because we're so young but, really, we're doing great!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v601/CouncilBabyBubble/start1.jpg
Our house (do you know how exhilarating it is to say 'our' house?) didn't cost that much--only $19,500! So you really, really have to stop worrying about if we're just eating pizza for dinner, and stuff like that.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v601/CouncilBabyBubble/start3.jpg
I mean, for the first time in my life, I can't -stop- cooking! We haven't had pizza since before the Honeymoon.
I love it when Michael comes home from work and I get to tell him about my day with my students over a nice plate of home-cooked chili con carne. He always has some new toy for the babies, even though I still have five months to go. Actually, the toys are everywhere!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v601/CouncilBabyBubble/start6.jpg
If we can't keep the house clean before the babies come, what will it be like afterwards? I know I'll love spending time with the kids, but I hate cleaning. Sometimes I just look around our family room and sigh. If there's one thing you're welcome to help out with, it's picking up the toys, mom!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v601/CouncilBabyBubble/start2.jpg
Of course, I try to make the house look nice, but who has the time? I mean, Michael and I are still unpacking our boxes, finding places to cram our books and clothes.

But we're happy, and healthy. The twins are great and... enormous--I'm only four months along, and I look, easily, six. But Michael's recently gotten a raise at work, and we've managed to work out a morning bathroom schedule since there's only one. But we've got our bedroom furniture assembled and we're working on setting everything up from the Baby Shower you gave us before the move.

Thanks so much for everything, mom! I can't wait 'till you come out next week to see our new home!

Love, Melana & Michael McCartney

xD It's the first one I've ever made, I was actually really proud of myself. But the fact that CC makers tend to price their deco. objects cheaply/weirdly helped a lot. And I wouldn't allow myself to use flooring or wallpaper that was over certain prices--for flooring I think it was six dollars? I can't even remember wallpaper, even though I just did it.

And the Nursery ended up being really bare 'cause I just didn't want to spend more cash on it.

Thanks for the kind words, Liz!

Thanks Dozo :) I was really afraid, since I finally decided to post on the boards and it's my first contest, that everybody would hate my work but I'm glad if I even get one compliment.
Your homes have been amazing, and your pictures are awesome. I really admire people who use Maxis stuff, especially people who can make it look good like you do in every single photo. Plus, your house designs are so unique!

The House of Fallen Trees (and Skinned Knees)

I decided to do the House of Fallen Trees because I thought it would be a challenge but right down my alley as to my aesthetic right now. I hope it worked well!

As you can see, I didn't alter any walls, but fences and roofs. I took away the roof in one portion and made it a balcony, which made it much nicer.

Interiors (I was unsure what 'That is one for the exterior, at least one for the interior, and two of the rooms of your choice.' meant, so I just took three interior pictures, hope that's okay. :x)

Creepy little shrine to the anorexic as I like to call it. :3

And a very curtained area for TV watching, I think the inhabitants would hate the sunlight, because they're vampires. :D

A third floor bedroom, it's average looking. :\

HyghTyme: I really like the colors used in the bedroom!
Extensa5420: Great exterior! I love the whole beachy feel of the lot.
clw8: Lovely decorating. I love the tiny pool!
Dozo: Great Job! I love the modern look, and the backyard is absolutely fantastic!

The Montague - A Starter for $19,453 on a 1x2 Lot!

Here's the family!

Emily Jenson
Main Aspiration: Family
Secondary Aspiration: Fortune

Brett Jenson
Main Aspiration: Fortune
Secondary Aspiration: Popularity

And now for the house!

http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i312/poplers/clp1-2.jpg
A nice little house, kind of small, but it works for a starter. It's fully furnished with two bathrooms and 1-2 bedrooms, an entry hallway, curved staircase, large kitchen (with room for expansion) and eat-in dining area. It also has a small backyard.

For Brett's Fortune aspiration I implemented the lavish palm trees, splurged on the $85 fencing on the two porches and also added the regency privacy windows (by Leesester@mts2) to satiate his hunger for showing off his money.

For Emily's Family aspiration I added ... a nursery! Brett wasn't too happy about that, but whatever, you have to compromise to have a good marriage.

More pictures!

Hi there. This is me, Eliza, and my husband Jacob. We just moved into 100 Rasberry Lane. It was created by the Ann Construction company. We just love it so much. So when we were asked to do a promotional for Ann on our house I just jumped at the chance.
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u147/eternity_magicians/sim%20houses/snapshot_f6ee297b_56ee3939.jpg
Here's the outside of the house. Nothing too fancy but the dark stone is just right for me.
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u147/eternity_magicians/sim%20houses/snapshot_00000007_56ee372a.jpg
Here's the back yard. It's not much yet but it will be one day. I especially love the tree and the little bench. It's a perfect place for me to sit and watch my kids play, when I have them of course.
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u147/eternity_magicians/sim%20houses/snapshot_00000007_56ee36f2.jpg
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u147/eternity_magicians/sim%20houses/snapshot_00000007_76ee36dd.jpg
Our living room is just great. There's enough room for my art and a t.v. for Jacob. As well as the expensive "things" that he likes to have around.
And the eating area is just right off of the living room.
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u147/eternity_magicians/sim%20houses/snapshot_00000007_b6ee36b7.jpg
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u147/eternity_magicians/sim%20houses/snapshot_00000007_f6ee3680.jpg
Our bedroom is just fantastic. It has room for us and the baby. Yes! I'm pregnant! And of course we could have had the second room a nursery but I wanted baby close by. And then later we can make the second room into a bedroom for baby when he grows up. There's already a bathroom off of it.
And then we have the kitchen which is small but perfect for us just starting out. And later we can always build up if we need to. There is room where we can put stairs in the living room. We'll here's an overhead view for you.
http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u147/eternity_magicians/sim%20houses/snapshot_00000007_76ee374c.jpg
We got all this for a mere 17,740 simoleans.

Yes, jewaukeela, you need your sleep and time to do your homework. My poor teenage son has to do all his chores before he can touch the net or Xbox and he has a time limit as well. You got it better than him, though, he can't touch his toys until late afternoon during the week and must get offline by nine p.m. during the week. On the weekends, after all his chores are done (taking out trash, dishes -- he's so overworked) he can plop his bum in front of the tv and go on a killing spree until someone dreams up something else for him to do. Like go outside and get some fresh air. We're so mean.

LOL Deatherella. You all make me feel spoiled and such..... My computer's internet isn't blocked by anything - I manage everything, and no one else touches it. I get on ( on weekends ) when I get up, and then don't get off till 1am or later that night .... On school days I have to get off at 10:30pm, only because I have a bed time ..... who ever heard of giving a 17 y/o one of those. :) But, I have an ipod touch, so, I lay in bed for an additional .5 or 1 hr on the internet ..... Thus, you all make me feel horrible for thinkin' it unfair to have to get off at 10:30pm on school nights ....Of all things!!!

Although your description was excellant (though a bit wacky!), the main thing I look for in a house is playability. For the most part, the house is fine, but the TV you placed in the counters in the kitchen would make them unusable. Also, although the bedroom with the 'glass' walls was very creative, there are actually no walls in place (which would be breaking the rules anyway), so would not necessarilly be a comfortable bedroom.

For the most part, I really like your makeover. It looks like somewhere my Grandmother would live. I feel there is a bit too much white-on-white and pale colours, which makes it seem a little washed out.

You did a great job with the condo (I find them really hard to makeover!). I love the shape of the pool in the backyard, but I deducted points because the double bed is against the wall, and one side of it would be unusable.

-Great makeover! I loved your photos. Your description score was bumped down a little because you only had two sentences of description.

*Contestant #5 - Spiffy

Rules: 5/5
Description: 5/5

Creativity: 5/5
Total: 20/20

-Wonderful application, Spiffy! I love your photos, as they are nice, clear and bright. Nice job on the landscaping, as well.

Contestant #6 - Norikoann

Rules: 5/5
Description: 5/5
Aesthetics: 4/5
Creativity: 5/5
Total: 19/20

-Nice app! I love the landscaping and the wall mural. You also had a very nice description. & Just a suggestion: When taking overview shots of your house, put the game in the options mode so that the gridlines don't show.

Contestant #7- HyghTyme

Rules: 5/5
Description: 5/5
Aesthetics: 4/5
Creativity: 5/5
Total: 19/20

-I love what you've done with the pool area. I'm going to suggest to you the same thing as Norikoann, and that is to put the game in options mode when taking an overview shot so that the gridlines don't show. In another contest I'm judging, we are supposed to count off for that. Just a heads up

Contestant #8 - Extensa5420

Rules: 4/5
Description: 3/5
Aesthetics: 5/5
Creativity: 3/5
Total: 15/20

-For your photos, you were required to put photos of rooms of your choice, which you did not do. You only had one picture of the interior, which was an overview. Also, next time, try not to let the gridlines show in your pictures. As for the description, it did not flow as well as it could. You brought the way you like to play sims into it, not the description of the house itself. An example of this is when you said "I want it to be cheap, because I want a lot of cheap houses in my neighborhood." I do like the simplicity of the home and how you made it look good without loads of cc.

Contestant #9 - Blake

Rules: 5/5
Description: 4/5
Aesthetics: 5/5
Creativity: 5/5
Total: 19/20

-Love the balcony! You did a very good job on that makeover. You could have been a bit more descriptive, however.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So the total scores are as follows:
(Please forgive my maths. This is my weak point. Correct me if I'm wrong. :P)
Jewaukeela - 46/60
clw8 - 52/60
Deatherella - 55/60
Dozo - 60/60 - 2nd place
Spiffy - 61/60 - 1st place
Norikoann - 49/60
HyghTyme - 53/60
Extensa5420 - 37/60
Blake - 56/60 - 3rd place

If you're just working on a lot with no Sims living on it, the pics you take will most likely be in the "Storytelling" folder in the main section of your TS2 file. So, click that one instead of the Neighborhoods one next time you open up the game files.

=D Jees, I wish I had that attitude. I tend to give up and just mope for a few days, then regret that I didn't try harder. You are obviously far more mature than I, Jewaukeela. xD And I like the dancing Elephants most, yes, yes.

Thanks for all the kind and helpful comments, Judges! Blah, I do have to work on my Sharpening skills--I wasn't going to in the first place, but I hate how blurry my Graphics Card makes pictures (actually, I think what I have doesn't even count as a Graphics Card--I got one of those integrated things o_o;). :D But at least this helps me work on a lot of skills for Storytelling, building, furnishing, editing, etc.

I keep going over my First Round now, and I've actually drawn up some ideas that I could make for the 'Secondary Home' Second Round. I'm flippin' out over this contest. xD

yeah, me too! And I have - had - the same problem with my graphics. Using Printscreen makes ah-mazing picture quality, even better than the game's. :elephant:
If you're on a mac, put the game in a window (just figured out how to do that today, lol) and use ctrl+apple+4 to take pics.

KSpiffy
16th Apr 2009, 12:42 AM
Yes, Printscreen is my friend, too! I've heard people talk about programs like Fraps, but... eh. I'm okay without it; my brother downloaded it on his computer to make WoW (World of Warcraft) movies and to me it was just confusing. And, generally, I'm usually program-savvy. But then again, I think the version he had was a little funked up. And I've had my Sims running in Windows for quite a bit, now--I always mean to take it off when I'm not taking photos, but I just forget. XD; It just doesn't bother me that much, having it on.

Blake_SC
16th Apr 2009, 02:19 AM
I use a small program called 'clipper,' and it just copies the print screen and sends it to the folder that you want (I think it makes its own folder, I'm not sure). Either way, it gets good quality.

Also, to make my picture posting easier, I made a Photoshop action that resizes my pictures down to 600x450 and puts a 5px border around it, all you have to do is save! It really helps the process along, especially when doing a legacy. :D

clw8
16th Apr 2009, 02:32 AM
I must be one in a million ..... I played in window mode for like 2 min - long enough to turn my game on and back off ..... I didn't like it!

Anywho, I use 'screen hunter' for taking pics ... well, I don't usually, but I've started using it for these new contests. It also saves pics to a folder labeled 'screen hunter' in my documents, with a simple hit of the print screen key. I take pictures with sims running full screen (or what ever you say.... it's not windowed) with no problems...
And then I just upload to photobucket, using there resize uption, and ta-da.... :)

jewaukeela
16th Apr 2009, 03:28 AM
yeah, i agree. full size is much better, but i'm on mac osx and therefore no printscreen. :(
So I put it in a window when I have to take photos for a contest or my story.

I have a question for our great host: How come the rules say Round 1 is due on April 20 and your title bar for the contest says on Friday? I, for one, really needed until the 20th since my house is a half-baked shell that I keep changing.

Round Schedule
Application Round: Maxis Makeover, Contest Edition: 9th April - 13th April
Round 1: My Perfect Starter House: 14th - 20th April
Round 2: Secondary Lane: Starting Anew: 22th - 27th April

Lola: Mrs. Roo, Mr. Roo, I'm so glad you could come!
Zach: Please, call me Zach.
Sara: Yes, please call me Sara. And who is this?
Katya: I'm me!
Sara: I'm sure you are.
Lola: Katya, my daughter. If it's alright with you, she wants to come along with us today.
Sara: No school?
Katya: Nope!
Sara: Well then, you're very lucky. (to Lola) Of course she can come!
Zach: Can we get started?
Lola: Of course, let me just give you this... (hands paper to Zach)
Katya: What does it say?
Sara: It's the overviews of the house. See?

Katya: Oh. It's boring stuff.
Lola: (laughing) Come on, Katya. Sara? Zach? Are you ready to go?
Sara: Sure thing!
Zach: Yep!
Lola: Okay, good. Up these steps...

Lola: Welcome to 818 Woodbine Avenue! Have a look around.
Zach: Hey, check out this bar! It'll be perfect for entertaining!
Katya: And the seats are so comfy, I could sleep here!
Sara: These picture frames come with the house?
Lola: Yes, I thought you might like to have some space for photos.
Sara: Of our family...
Zach: Sara! Look at this!
Sara: What?
Zach: A fully stocked bar, ready to go!
Sara: Looks like an opening night party to me!
Katya: Can I come? I love parties!
Lola: They mean for their adult friends.
Zach: Okay, lets see the kitchen.
Lola: Right this way.

http://i43.tinypic.com/cl16t.gifBigger (http://i39.tinypic.com/c6d6e.png)
Lola: As you can see, the kitchen comes fully stocked.
Zach: What do you mean?
Lola: Well, the kitchen comes with three fully functional appliances, plus a mini bookshelf stocked with cookbooks and other kitchen literature. We also provide a six-person dish setting. The silverware is in the drawer next to the fridge, the dishes are just below them, and the cups are stored above the fridge.
Sara: Woah! When you say "fully stocked", you really mean it!
Katya: It looks like there's a hundred days of food in there!
Lola: Actually, it's more like five.
Zach: Still, that's pretty good. And the decorations were a nice touch. The spice rack above the door, the fruit in the bowl, the model on top of the bookcase...
Lola: Thanks. The spice rack is my favorite.
Katya: I gotta go! Mom, where's the bathroom?
Lola: Just past the TV in the den, there's a door. It leads to the bathroom.
Katya: Thanks!
Zach: The bathroom comes with all installed?
Lola: Yep! A sink, mirror, toilet, bath rug, and shower.
Sara: What about a bath?
Lola: Well, a shower comes with the house, but there's room for a bath in there later.
Zach: What's this circle?
Lola: A pressure-sensitive teleporter.
Zach: Woah!
Sara: Pressure sensitive? What do you mean?
Lola: It only activates if there's 50 pounds or more on it, so babies or toddlers that wander on won't go upstairs, only if someone is holding them.
Sara: So safe! Wonderful!
Zach: Yes, a great idea. Can we try it out?
Lola: Sure. Just step on, and up you go!
Katya: I'm back!
Sara: Okay, time to go upstairs.

http://i42.tinypic.com/svkn41.gifExtra Pic (http://i40.tinypic.com/2n0ovi0.png)
Lola:And here's the master bedroom.
Zach: Shiny...
Sara: Zach, come look. Come away from the vase!
Zach: But it's ancient Egyptian!
Sara: No. You know what the doctor said about staring at ancient artifacts for too long.
Zach: Oh, alright. What?
Sara: Come feel the woodwork of the bed, honey.
Zach: Smooth...
Sara: And the blankets, too. (to Lola) do the sheets come with the house?
Lola: Yes, the whole set,
Sara: Great!
Zach: Where does this door lead?
Lola: That's to the porch.
Katya: Can we go out? Pleeeeeeeeese?
Lola: Only if Sara and Zach are done.
Katya: (to Zach) Pleeeeeeeeese?
Zach: (with one last glance at the vase) Oh, alright.

Katya: Lookee! I'm sitting on the highchair tray!
Lola: Get off! You'll break it!
Katya: Okay, okay.
Lola: What do you think of the loungers?
Sara: They are so comfy!
Zach: Agreed. And the highchair means little Shay can be out here with us.
Sara: Emma.
Zach: Daniel.
Sara: Hannah!
Zach: Andrei!
Sara: Hailey!
Zach:Tyler!
Katya: Katya!
Sara: (laughing) Always knows how to break the tension.
Zach: (also laughing) Yes, i can't wait until we have one of our own.
Lola: Shall we go back outside?
Sara: Sure.

http://i42.tinypic.com/ip2zyh.gif

Lola: So what did you think?
Zach: The tour was very unique, and I thought it really brought out the best in the house. (checks with Sara)
Sara: We'll take it.
Katya: Nooooooo!
Lola: What? Katya, why don't you want them to have the house?
Katya: I want to live here! No fair!
(everyone laughs)

It's round 2 time, guys! Remember, tomorrow is the 19th, so Round 1s are due in by the 20th, 4PM. (I start school again then, so. . .)

ROUND 2: Secondary Lane.

A family of Sims are ready to move from "10 Oak Lane" to a new house, and they have hired you to build it to
suit their personalities. The only
issues are:

This family is on a budget: They have $60,000 at their disposal. This family also has four members. They are:

Mother:
Name: Up to you.
Gender: Female
Aspiration: Knowledge
Secondary Aspriation: Is up to you.
Age: Adult
Special: Alien

Father:
Name: Up to you
Gender: Male
Aspiration: Popularity
Secondary Aspiration: Up to you
Age: Adult

Child A:
Name: Up to you.
Gender: Up to you.
Aspiration: Fortune
Secondary Aspiration: Up to you
Age: Teen
Special: Full blown alien. Green skin, black eyes, the lot!

Child B
Name: Up to you.
Gender: Up to you.
Aspiration: Grow Up
Secondary Aspiration: N/A
Age: Child

YOU MAY NOT:
Exceed $60,000 in building.
Play the lot until you upload the picture and details are up, then by all means, do whatever the heck you want.
Upload pictures and descriptions of lots that you haven't made.
Have the children share a bedroom.
Use a lot size other than 3x3.

YOU MUST:
Furnish the lot. Deck it out with furnishings, not just starter furnishings. Include decorative items.
Remain under the budget.
Avoid all alcoholic drinks whilst building.

YOU MAY:
Use custom content.
Use debug CAS to create your aliens. (boolProp TestingCheatsEnabled true, then Shift+N to open Debug mode in CAS.)

Good luck to you all. If you have any questions, post them here or PM me. :)

jewaukeela

Aaaah so excited :D And this will be the first time I get to see an Alien in my game since I downloaded new default eyes/skin for them--gonna look so prettttty.

Also, Liz, just wanted to ask--since for this round you said any lot that wasn't/wasn't smaller than 1x1 would be okay, but on the front page it said 3x3? And what sort/amount of pictures do we need for this round? ^-^

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/Sims%20Contests/house3view1.jpg

Joseph and Miranda Norton and their two daughters, Europa and Callista (as well as their cat Jupiter) have commissioned a three bedroom, two and a half bathroom home, fully furnished. Let's see what they think of the final result.

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/Sims%20Contests/house3view2.jpg

The girls' bedrooms and bathroom are upstairs, along with my least favorite room, the landing o' boring.

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/Sims%20Contests/house3view3.jpg

Downstairs we have the master suite, the greatroom, and the public bathroom, as well as a pleasant patio set up for barbecuing and featuring overflow seating.

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/Sims%20Contests/house3view4.jpg

The living and dining area is done in light wood and black and white, and features all of Jupiter's accommodations, including the cat bed visible here.

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/Sims%20Contests/house3view5.jpg

The masculine-styled airy kitchen is Joseph's domain. Miranda, despite her thurough knowledge of biochemistry both terrestrial and other, is ... well, let's just say that the reason they had to move out of their last house involved exploding dumplings.

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/Sims%20Contests/house3view6.jpg

The front of the house has a rather unusual feature, two fountains above the door. Miranda has already expressed her plans modify them to recycle water from the girl's bathroom. While Europa is disgusted by this prospect, Callista thinks it's pretty neat.

http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn175/Hyperion_Rising/Sims%20Contests/house3view7.jpg

Europa doesn't have a computer yet, but she's expecting a delivery of one from a mysterious stranger any day now *cough* Mr. Humble *cough*. Even without one, she's very pleased with the economical use of space in her room, and the emphasis on neutral colors.

The Nortons were very pleased with their new home, except for Jupiter, who felt it didn't come with enough complimentary mice. The price of the house, including the purchase of land, comes to $59,976.

Will do. Hopefully the scorecard is the same as last time, otherwise it'll be pointless. But if it's okay with Liz, I can score what's there so far--it's not like I have anything else to do.

yep! in fact, it functions as both a stove and counter, meaning your sim can place anything they would normally put on a counter. they can put dirty dishes there, serving dishes, they can even prepare food on it. I don't think you can put appliances on it, though.

P.S. The cookbook case in the kitchen is playable too.

Judges, why don't you start drawing up scores? I think if all of us agree to post if we change our entry, its a worthwhile trade for scores in in a timely fashion. Agreed?

Jewaukeela- I'm pretty sure all of the judges were timely with submitting the scores in the last round?

Sorry it's taking me so long, everyone. I'm trying to get three contests done at once.

Dick and Jane finally hit the jackpot and moved out from Ma & Pa's basement into their own starter house. It's not furnished very well since after the kitchen and bathrooms were completed, they only had about 1500 simoleans left. But, no worries, Dick just bought a lottery ticket that should win him a "motherlode" to fill that house with all those fortunistic thrills and Jane plans on pulling him away from his Nieman Marcus catalog long enough to get a little help on starting the family.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sism%202%20Next%20Top%20Architect/snapshot_0000001b_d6f7ab40.jpg

Front, back and side views of Dick and Jane's new home. It's a "one-story" with a large basement opening onto a patio area. The basement is divided inot room sections. The large section on the left can be closed off and used as a bedroom in the future since it has a full bathroom in its corner. Behind the stairway is a study nook so Dick and Jane can get to work on their skills and get all the goodies they dream about.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sism%202%20Next%20Top%20Architect/snapshot_0000001b_f6f7a92a.jpg

The kitchen is modern and spacious. The attached dining area is open with windows overlooking the ocean in the distance.

http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii217/deb666/Sism%202%20Next%20Top%20Architect/snapshot_0000001b_76f7aade.jpg

My favorite room is the livingroom, which you may wonder why since it's a big empty room at the moment. But, as soon as Dick cashes in that lottery ticket, I'm going to have a ton of fun decorating it. It's so nice and big that I can make it into a great space for them to enjoy guests or quiet evenings at home in front of new super sized expensive television.

The bathroom has both a tub and shower so Dick and Jane can share use of the room at once. Their room is done in brown and gold tones -- note how they got all they need in there at the moment; wardrobe and that all important family starter, a bed.

In the front right corner of the home is a room set up to become a nursery. Jane likes to go in there and dream about all the future little Dicky and Janies to come. There should even be room for two cribs if she has twins any time soon.

****FORGOT -- THIS LOT COSTS 19, 949*****

Miss Jenna's Room
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/ScreenHunter_06Apr201843.jpg
Offering the finest furniture her parents could afford, this cozy pink paradise is perfect for a spoiled - fortune/money - loving teenaged girl.

Mr. Timmy's Room
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/ScreenHunter_07Apr201844.jpg
With a grown up bed and shelving units, this blue room is still perfect for a growing boy. There is plenty of room for playing with toys, but, when that stage is past, it will still look sharp for a teen, with minimal effort.

Lynoll & Kyra's Room
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/ScreenHunter_08Apr201844.jpg
Cool blues great you one last time, as you seek refuge in this master suite. Although it is on the same floor as the children's bedrooms, it is still very private and offers a loving environment.

Upstairs
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/ScreenHunter_04Apr201841.jpg
Besides the three bedrooms upstairs, there is also 2 bathrooms - one shared by the kids, one in the master suite - and a roomy hallway.

Entry To Home
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/ScreenHunter_09Apr201845.jpg
Warm yellows and browns greet you as you step through the front door. If this doesn't make you want to purchase this home, then maybe the following picture will sell you over . . .

Downstairs
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/depposbournefan/ScreenHunter_05Apr201842.jpg
A roomy, large kitchen; seperate dining room; large den; bathroom and garage are all perfectly arranged downstairs and joined with a single hall area. The entire downstairs , minus the garage, create a warm, nurturing atmosphere where your sims will probably spend a great deal of their time. Whether they cook, polish their skills, surf the internet for new ways to make cash, or entertain friends, you are sure to find a comfy spot to do this at.

All in all, this is again, THE house to have. How could you ever find anything better!!

So excited to see the Round One scores 8D Everyone's Round Two homes have been very pretty, too, and I hope I'll finish mine tonight. I keep having to find random bits of time to choose wallpaper and place furnishings because of school, and my brother came home for three days (he graduated from Navy Boot Camp and is going off to South Carolina for a few months, so it was important for me to see him. He's a Nuclear Engineer, which means he'll help find new resources for power when he's done with college... obviously I am way too proud and must stop this ramble).

Anyway, just wanted to tell everyone their homes looked awesome!

The house suited their personality well:
- the bar and sofas for entertaining (popularity)
- the vase, floorings, the statues in the kitchen, the rugs (money)
- the kid's room, the crib, the teleporter, the baby chair for future kids(family)

The teleporter was a better idea than a staircase for many reasons:
- takes up less space
- a toddler can't go downstairs/upstairs without the parents knowing, since it is weight-activated
- it's prettier

About the pictures needing to be larger, those pictures are the biggest my computer can handle. That's why next to each picture there is a link saying "bigger". If you had clicked it, you would have need much better photos. The photo in-post was just a smaller piece of the larger picture meant to draw you in.

I did ask if you had any questions, could you please post. see here (http://forums.sims-community.com/showpost.php?p=1344770&postcount=187) Then Allie asked if the stove was playable. I said yes (http://forums.sims-community.com/showpost.php?p=1345509&postcount=197) , and the cookbookcase in the kitchen is too. Try to read the posts.

I hope I addressed all the questions, and I wish scores can be changed. Oh, well. I should get to work on my round II.

Jewa, don't worry about it too much. I understand the frustration scores can cause, but not everyone has the same taste and that will reflect in their scores. All you can really do is just take the comments and use them to make your Round II the best you can. Just try not to be rude to the judges, they are taking time out of their day to send in their scores and are getting them in very quickly. I don't know about myself, but hale and Tenielle are doing a very good job, and trust me, they could be a lot more harsh.

:)

Jewaukeela- You scored quite reasonably in this Round. Try to see the judges comments as constructive criticism, and use the scores to see what you can improve on next time. Every contest is a learning curve, and the more you enter and the more you learn, the better you will do. I find it useful to look at the other contestants comments, to see what the judges said about their entrys and where they scored well, and also use that to help improve my entrys. As allie said, all the judges could be a lot harsher, but are being quite fair both in scores and comments, and in submitting our scores extremely quickly.

Seeing as my internet has been very shaky until we got it upgraded recently, I haven't been able to maintain connection long enough to apply. Tree4me, if there is anyway I am able to become a late application, with the approval of an application and a late first round, I would love to enter the competition, I would love to be a part of the competition. As a real life architecture student and sim designer for fun, I promise to not let you down.
While I do understand the implications of applying late, I would be very grateful to be admitted into such a competition!

I understand completely, it would be pretty unfair to let me in, but it was worth a try. ;)

I'll keep an eye out for cycle 2!

April 22

So, I guess today, the first day we opened the store, wasn't all bad. The new house is looking great. I don't like that my parents feel the need to hide us and our uniqueness inside it, but whatever, it's a nice place. Big, two floors, I get my own bedroom. But really--when we lived in Strangetown a month ago, we used to go on vacations to alien colonies! Why are my parents trying to fit in now that we've moved here?

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v601/CouncilBabyBubble/home1.jpg
I mean, they keep insisting that they just like the house because of all the large windows and the big yard. My mom keeps playing around in the flowerbeds, trying to make the landscaping look perfect, but then she'll start reading a Gardening book and becomes more entrenched in her search for Knowledge than in her quest for a decent-looking home....

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v601/CouncilBabyBubble/homestore1.jpg
But the inside isn't too bad, apart from the bakery and cooking goods shop section. I like that my mom and dad started a home business, yeah, it's cool--but since it's the place that most people see, they did it in all these dull hues. But they told me I could work as the Cashier--and they'll pay me! I'll be making the big bucks, baby! Not to mention, both my parents are happy with it, which is nice: dad gets to meet new people and customers, like he loves doing; mom gets to do research into sales and the cookware market, and she'd rather be doing that kinda stuff than anything else.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v601/CouncilBabyBubble/homeliving1.jpg
And once you get past the exterior and the shop, my dad set up his 'Enterainment Nook' really nicely. Comfy couches for guests to relax on, pictures of his friends on the walls, drinks for his frequent parties. Of course, he added in a couple bookcases since my mom would rather spend her time with her nose in a book than hanging out with our family friends. Plus, it's a great place to play with Millenia.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v601/CouncilBabyBubble/homebed1.jpg
Yeah: Millenia, the perfect child, who has just the IDEAL bedroom. I remember when we first saw the house my mom actually said that there was no way I'd get 'the nice bedroom with white carpet' because I'd just make a mess of it. I have to admit, Millenia does have it looking well--her toys are nicely put away, she's got gorgeous paintings she created on the walls, and her furniture is nice and bright; the only hint of her Alien heritage is a space ship bed. My mom even let her bring her easel and paints upstairs now! Mom and dad would never let me use paint over a white carpet!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v601/CouncilBabyBubble/homebed2.jpg
Not that I can blame 'em. I guess it doesn't matter, though, 'cause I got the nicer bedroom anyway. Mom and dad let me show my true self and replace the boring wallpaper and flooring with some awesome zebra-stripe carpet and I got a hot blue paint job on the walls! Plus, I've been experimenting in Art Class and have made some really cool, bright pottery, so that the room just fits me really well. Not to mention, my room opens right into the Green House--mom said she wanted to plant some fruits and vegetables there that we could sell in the store, but I have a feeling I'll have a nice crop of Money Tree's coming up soon....

So, I guess it isn't all bad. It's just frustrating how we have to present this picture-perfect, ordinary-as-Pleasentview idea, when on the inside we're all pulsing with ideas and creativity. I mean, my mom tries to hide the fact that she's an Alien, even though the fact that she--and one of her daughter's!--has green skin is hint enough to the neighbours. But I like the inside of the house, and maybe one day I'll convince my mom to replace the blue siding with some lime green, just to make it interesting, like we used to be. Jees.

Thanks Liz! I was nervous about this house and all the different personalities within it (plus, I wasn't sure how some would feel about the home business).

At the least, it inspired me to make a cuter avatar--I completely fell in love with the Jones's and Alien sims, in general xD

23 Sandlock Avenue - Pinewood Ends
Farm house brings Beach house

Price:60,000
Current Residents:The Moonstone's

The Moonestone Family

The Moonstones have always been looking for a chance to get away from the social rejection of a city life in an apartment building. The family always
enjoyed their holiday's at Twikii island and always felt as though they weren't judged when they were staying there. The beach has always meant calm and peace to them so I felt they needed a home where they could feel accepted, calm and a bit like they fit in. 23 Sandlock Avenue offers all of these needs for the Moonstone Family, they've got a large backyard for the kids to play and a small shed for the father (Chuckie) to do his paintings to sell at a local art museum. The mother (Stella) loves to cook and fish, and a nice spacial kitchen with a view straight to the sea gives Stella a lot of room - and a place to fish. The youngest son Damien is a musician at heart and a large house with silence (apart from the sea of course) provides him a lot of artistic freedom and more space to write music with his violin. Their oldest son Jack, doesn't quite fit in the family and would rather play sports than do something creative with his time. The large backyard provides a playground (he can be a bit childish at times) and lots of room to toss football and play with his father or brother.

Clearly this house is perfect for the family, it meets all of their needs and comforts and will become a home for the Moonestone's for many years to come.

:(
I did ask if you had any questions, could you please post. see here (http://forums.sims-community.com/showpost.php?p=1344770&postcount=187) Then Allie asked if the stove was playable.

Sorry, just now getting to read this.
Jewaukeela: I do read the posts. Please keep in mind that I'm taking time out of my busy day, (I am a college student meaning finals right now, I've been sick with bronchitus, and I have family matters to take care of), to vote on this contest. Don't take my comments personally. This is a contest meant to have fun with. As long as you are having fun, you're good! Those were just my opinions. & I for one feel like Allie and Tenielle are doing fantastic jobs.
You do seem to be a bit rude to the judges in a few posts, so I'd appreciate if you could be a little nicer to us. The Sims is all about having fun. :) Am looking forward to your future rounds!

Jewaukeela, I think I can explain some of this:

The reason things like your teleporter may cause a problem is that they don't fit into the unified environment you've created. Sticking a cool looking teleporter in a normal house is kind of like sticking a really cool fantasy sword in a great sitcom: they're both awesome, but they don't work together. At least, that's my theory.

xD Dozo, looks like we used the same blue beach siding in our houses. Kinda ironic, I thought, considering how much CC there is in the Sims community. I actually looked it up specifically for this home and fell in love--it's really beautiful and detailed, isn't it?

Dozo - I tried to respond to your PM, but you have no space left. I can give you an extension if necessary. :) Thanks for letting me know.

jewaukeela - I know that you aren't too happy with the scores, but the judges are taking time out of their busy schedules to do this, and you are starting to sound a little bit nicky toward them. I'm sorry, but it is kinda true. Remember the Sims is for fun.

Liz, I will be away for a week so I might need an extension for round 3. I come back on the ninth of May (In NZ)

I hope it's not too much trouble, I'd really hate to drop out.

I might allow an extension, but they NEED to be in. Thanks.

My house is hopelessly over budget and only half furnished so it looks like I'm going to be knocking some walls out or something before posting.

If people don't get their rounds in before the deadline, I will allow a 24 hour extension. That's it. I will start eliminating people for tardiness. :p We do only get 4 weeks for a contest, after all.

If I didn't have to furnish and decorate it, it'd be hunkydory. It's the decorating that drove it up and over 60k.
