Hehe, MMO = Massively Multiplayer Online
Yes, there are a few RP boards running around here relating to the sims 2, but nothin beats sitting at a table or in a chatroom, thinking on your feet :)

Until recently, when I entered Hidden Palace III, the only RPing I'd ever done was D&D. My husband keeps trying to get me to play Star Wars online, but I've never done a MMO, besides which I'm not much into Star Wars. I have to admit though, it might be tempting because RPing is fun.

I love RPing, but the things I manage to spew out lately are cringeworthy. I miss the days when I could RP like this...
It was night out, the sky relatively clear with an exception of the small pockets of smoke that still lingered from the muskets and cannons that had torn each other apart only hours earlier. He was lying on his back, unable to move as whatever was left of his life's blood drained slowly from the bullet holes in his neck and stomach, rendering him unable to walk or even to move. He heard screams, a four-legged animal moving, and even though he was only half-conscious he clutched his rifle closer to his chest, bayonet gleaming by the moonlight at the end. Soon after, other sounds drifted to his ears; he heard cries of his fellow soldiers.
"Help me, please, help me."
Another, off to his right, was closer. "Water, I need water."
"Oh God, I'm dying!"
And then there was someone right next to him. "No... no... Get away from me! Get away!" His cries were soon replaced with cries of agony that made him cringe and shiver. Wild hogs, now so close. Please, please, don't let them get to me. Please.. The cries continued, much fainter now than before, he witnessed a hog moving through the field of wheat cut down by bullets towards him...
Owen woke with a startled gasp; his eyes flared open and he stared up at the dark purplish blue sky, panting, terrified. The wheat was gone; there were no longer cries of the wounded and dying, no one calling out for water, or help, and no screams of those being eaten alive. He reached up and felt his neck; a bandage covered the hole. He let out a bittersweet sigh. I'm still dead.
He pushed himself into a sitting position with shaking hands, rubbed his bloodshot eyes. Again. That dream, again. Again and again. Why is it still there? I don't want to keep reliving it. He took a glance around at the featureless landscape, stood up, and started walking. The direction wasn't important. It was the same everywhere he went. This would classify as... day 321, I think?
Even he had begun to lose track of the nonexistant time.
Or like this (http://www.zipclaw.de/aerus/viewtopic.php?t=220). (the FastClaw post)

LOL Me too. For some odd reason, I just think Star Wars are for uber-geeks. (No offense to anyone who likes Star Wars! :))
I've recently found this site, X-men: A New Generation (http://z6.invisionfree.com/X_Men_New_Generation/index.php?) Although I've just applied (my character's Dormir), it seems like a very fun and active site. And if you don't like that site, they have affiliates at the bottom who are also interesting. :)

I RP regularly, like every Thursday at 7 we have D&D night at my place. Well, at the moment we're actually playing Iron Heroes, but most of the time it's D&D. And I have another group that sometimes manages to gather on Saturdays for D&D (current DM bowed out at the last minute this week, or we'd be playing now), I used to DM that group but got burnt out. I've had a few characters that I was very sorry to see go when the end of the campaign came, especially my second rogue, she really drove the party nuts, but in a good way, unlike one friend whose rogues tend to gain hatred from the rest of the party.
I LARPed for a few years as a member of the Camarilla, and even spent a year as VST Changeling. But I got tired of all the OOC politics and couldn't be bothered to renew my membership after White Wolf ended the old WoD.
My sister kept trying to drag me into RP chat rooms, but I always got frustrated because I don't understand the internet shorthand, and have no intention of learning it, so I was rather handicapped. And the only MMORPG that I've been able to get a handle on the controls for is iRO, but nobody was really RPing on any server I've been on. So I really haven't had good experiences with online RP.

I play D&D on the rare occasions when I get a chance. My group can't always make it, though I'm willing to run a session even if there is only one player there. My group runs two campaigns, one of which I DM. Both of our campaigns are populated by... interesting characters. How to describe Mazmerod? African-American Hermaphrodite Elf Sorceress. Jebeddo "Stumbleduck" Newport? He's a gnome bard with green skin and orange eyes, and the lead guitarist and singer of the thrash metal band "The Stumblef*cks". In our other campaign, Sylvia is a Mimic prostitute and Matrik is a barbarian with a huge Oedipus complex.
I once played in an online Dragonball Z-based RPG complete with a chat-based combat system. I was the strongest player on there for a while but then I stopped going for a while... by the time I went back the administrator had changed things around to the point that I no longer wanted to play.
I played a bit on Gaia, but that kinda sucked...
There is a roleplaying forum on my website, but unfortunately it is empty.

Name: Khoshu
Race: Human
Class: Mage
Weapon: Vorpal Longbow (Just kidding! Shortspear) (4 ATT Points)
Armor: Light Armor (4 DP)
Health: 20/20 HP
Magic: 15 Manna
Spells: Mage = Fireball (3 manna, 4 ATT)
Level: 1 (100 XP to next level)
Items: 1 Loaf of Bread (+3 Health), 1 Blue Manna Bottle
Bio: Hailing from the swamp-filled lands of Panthoia, Khoshu grew up with dreams of greatness. The best way to attain this, he decided, was to become a powerful sorcerer. He spent his teen years developing his mystical abilities, drawing power from the swamps to cast minor curses and invocations. He rarely slept at night, prefering to spend the dark hours in his bedroom studying vigorously the art of arcane spellcasting. Now at age 20, he feels the time has come to leave his homeland and travel into the outside world in search of foes to defeat, power to attain and rewards to be gained.
I tried to keep my character fairly simple, just giving a very basic background story. I hope I'm not stepping on the DM's toes by naming my home town and describing how I cast spells...

I would really love an RP section on this site, for on-going stories with sub threads for applications and that, man that would be awesome.
BUT I'm about to join the X-Men A New generation site (it has taken me ages to think up a convincing character!) so I wouldn't use this site as much. TOo many RP forums would be too overwhelming for me.
So, I bid thee farewell as I'm off to discover new destinations for RP'ing <3

Thanks Delphy, I made this the place where you can open suggestions for RPs and talk about the ones you'd like to see.
BTW, when do you believe we'll be able to actively start an RP?

I'm more of an RP noob. I keep it sims related. Has anyone seen this (http://z14.invisionfree.com/glamorous_sims/index.php?)?

Thanks Delphy ^^
No, I hadn't seen it. I'll take a look around, but i've already joined enough forums, I hate to add another one to the list! this is the only place i visit on a regular basis.
I'd like to see a DnD/Fantasy type RP
I'd also like to see a this day and age but with a twist... maybe a Hero's type RP?

Okay guys. (As has been mentioned), we now have a shiny new forum for roleplaying. It will be a little shaky on its feet as we get started, but I've laid down some basic ground rules based on my experience in roleplaying and set up a stickied thread so folks can get together and coordinate and plan and all that fun stuff.
In light of that (and the fact that Delphy went and moved this thread into the new forum as I was setting up a sticky for suggestions!) I'm going to go ahead and close this thread as an archive of previous ideas and stuff so it's still accessible for existing ideas, but so our new thread isn't clogged up with stuffs that may no longer apply now that we have a shiny new forum.
Also, Infernal, regarding your question about when we can start doing new RPs - I'd say there's nothing stopping people from going ahead and doing so. May want to try the new coordination/planning thread first just to see that there are players interested in whatever ideas you've got, and then post up a new thread detailing your setting, GM'd or freeform, etc.
Also also, bear in mind that it's okay to have sim-related RPs here. This Sims 2 Community, after all. The difference between a sim RP and a sim contest will be the amount of simming involved - do you have to provide in-game pictures for every round/turn, and whether or not there's an actual competition happening. As stated in the rules there is a grey area in there so if you have a question over whether it's a sim contest with RP elements or a RP with sim elements, feel free to ask. :)
