"I'm going to die Gavin, I can feel it" she said. "They had to bring me to life with those pedal things." she sighed. "I crashed into the railing... and my car got filled with water, I woke up on this island, I had too much blood loss."

"Don't be stupid Cecilia," Gavin said softly, "you aren't going to die. You're young and healthy and you're going to live a great life. You're alive now! If you were going to die you'd have done it already. The doctors won't let you die. Don't worry"

"I hope so, I mean, look at this." she slowly moved away the blankets so the big deep cut was visible. "They still don't know how I got it." she coughed.
"I feel terrible about what happened." she said. "Please, sit"

Gavin winced at the large cut in Cecilia's arm

"That thing looks painful! I'm glad they found you ok."

He looked at the chair that Cecilia had signalled and raised his eyebrows. He wanted to get back to Delilah and give her the glasses and look after her; but Cecilia was his friend and was all alone. She was always alone. Eventually, after a long hesitation he took a seat on the chair

"I'll stay for a minute," Gavin said, "I'm sorry but I have to go look after Delilah."

"I know" she sighed. "I guess she needs you."
She took a deep breath. "I started drinking last night, and I decieded to go home with my own car. Suddenly my head started spinning and my car drove all ways, when I got my sight back I crashed into the railing."

Gavin looked shocked and widened his eyes

"Cecilia if they give you a blood test you'll get arrested for DUI!" he said, inhaling deeply, "why were you drinking? Had you had an argument with...a boyfriend? An ex?"

She looked at him. It was you, how can't you remember that.
"No..." she said. "If they do a bloodtest now, they can kill me. I've lost too many blood already."

Delilah sat in her room, waiting. She looked over at the clock.

"Where is he?" she whispered.

Maybe Gavin had decided to leave her there. Alone.

"No," she muttered, brushing the thought away. "He wouldn't do that. Would he?"


((Sorry it took so long. The wireless in the UC sucked, and I had to trek across campus to get back to the dorm just to get some kind of internet access!))

Gavin nodded again

"I'll come back later to see how you're doing," he said to Cecilia with a small smile.

He stood up and left the room, glancing at his watch nervously. He knocked twice on Delilah's door and walked in

"Sorry hunni," he said, sitting down beside her bed, "the stupid EMT wouldn't give them back. And then I stopped to see Cecilia."

He handed her the glasses and kissed her forehead

Delilah smiled and carefully inspected the glasses, making sure nothing had been removed from them. They were in the same condition they had been in the last time she'd seen them. Good.

She smiled up at Gavin and said sweetly, "My hero."

Gavin laughed and shook his hand

"With a bleeding fist!" he replied with a smile.

"I love you Delilah. You know that right?" he asked, wanting to hug her but knowing he'd hurt her, "anything else I can do?"

She hated hospitals. To be honest, they had always scared her. They were too sterile and cold.

She shivered a little. "I'm cold," she said quietly. "Can you find me a blanket or hug me or something?"

My little Idea for Amber xD

Gavin smiled and stood up, searching the cupboards for a blanket. He picked one up and walked back over to Delilah's bed, laying it gently over her. He then gently moved her forward on the bed and slid in behind her, his legs bent awkwardly to the side, and put his arms around her from behind

"That better?" Gavin asked, running his hands up and down her arms to warm her up, "you can always kiss me to warm you up."

[[ bah! Gavin is waaay hotter slytherin-girl lol ]]

"That'll work," Delilah replied, smiling. She gave him a soft, tender kiss and whispered, "Love you."

Then she closed her eyes and said, "I think I'll take a nap now..."

She snuggled against Gavin and dozed off.

Chris walked into the large building and laughed, he would we working here now. He walked in and started talking to the recptionist, who was kind off surprised by how he was on his first workday.

Cecilia wanted to turn and stop staring at the same spot, but she couldn't she couldn't look away from the ceiling without hurting herself.

Gavin smiled and gently stroked her cheek as she closed her eyes

"I love you too babe," he whispered to Delilah, "I'm so pleased you're ok. I promise I'll always appreciate you from now on. There's no way I'm going to forget what I've got."

He tightened his arms around Delilah and held her lovingly as she slept

"Can't you drive any faster Xander" said Amber, glaring from the passenger's seat "Delilah and Cecilia are both in the hospital".

"Not unless you want to be a roadside pancake Amber" he said, pulling into the parking lot "We're here anyway".

They both quickly hopped out of the car, and Amber grabbed onto his arm and hauled him inside. She ran up to the receptionist and said 'Hello, I'm looking for my friend and my boss, friend's name is Delilah and my boss is Cecilia Queen".

The receptionist pointed down the hallway and told her they were both down there. Amber nodded gratefully, shouting her thanks as she dragged Alexander with her down the hallway.

Cecilia pressed the button she kept in her hand all the time, it would call a nurse. A minute later, a nurse came in.
"I'm thirsty."
-"Right, I'll be right back" the woman left and came back with some pink coloured liquid. Cecilia didn't even want to know what it was.

Chris walked over to his office and sat down on the comfy brown chair. he stood up and put the radio on. He laughed and started playbacking agressively. Using the computer mouse as a microphone.

Walking into the brick exterior building, the automatic door opened with a gust of air biting into his freshly shaved face. The office was a ghost town, half the office was in the hospital, and he had work to do. The only thing to keep him from thinking.

Up the elevator, he stepped off on the third floor, and entered his office. Grabbing bolts of fabric, he went to work cutting and pinning the fabric. Taking out a old Singer 1930's sewing machine, he went to town putting together the sample for Jeisa.

"Here it is, Delilah's room" said Amber, tugging on Alexander's sleeve "Let's go, I have to see if she's okay". Alexander gently pried his sister's arm off his sweater and said "Okay Amber, just calm down. And just so you know if anyone else did this to me I'd shoot them".

"I love you too" she said, sticking her tongue out and opening the door. "Delilah" she said quietly "How are you doing, it's Amber".

Gavin looked up and, seeing Amber, he quickly put his finger to his mouth, to show she should be quiet and nodded at the sleeping Delilah in his arms.

"She's ok" Gavin said quietly as Amber walked further into the room, "you can stay here if you like. She's asleep but she'll be awake soon I'm sure."

"Sorry" she said, lowering her voice, as Alexander rolled his eyes behind her. "I told you to calm down" he said and she glared at him again.

"Sorry for being concerned about my friend" she said, looking over at Delilah , immensely glad she was all right "Gavin, this is my brother Alexander. I was over at his house when I heard the news and he drove me over here.

Gavin smiled at the man behind Amber. He kissed Delilah on the top of her head and slowly slipped out from behind her, laying her gently onto the pillow.

"Hi, I'm Gavin, I'm Amber's boss!" he teased, holding out his hand to Xander

He looked back to check on Delilah and smiled

Alexander smirked as he shook Gavin's hand. "You don't look like an evil manipulative she devil to me but I suppose makeup can do wonders" he said and Amber smacked his arm.

"Alexander, I told you to be nice" she said, shaking her head. She followed Gavin's gaze to Delilah and smiled. "I'm so glad she's okay, what happened to her?", she asked.

Gavin smiled and laughed quietly at Alexander's comment.

"She passed out from exhaustion and hunger. And she drank a lot too," he replied, smiling at Delilah

He quickly scribbled a note and left it on her nightstand, then dragged Amber and Alexander into the hallway so they could talk properly

Amber's here so we left you to sleep. Throw something at the door when you wake up. Love u. Gavin xxx

Delilah opened her eyes slowly, hearing the door shut. She looked over at the nightstand next to the bed.

A piece of paper.

She reached over, trying not to strain herself too much, and grabbed it up. After reading it, she muttered, "Throw something? What can I throw?"

She reached back and picked up her pillow. With as much strength as she could muster, she threw it at the door.

Minutes after they stepped into the hall Amber head a faint thumping noise. "I think someone woke up quicker than we thought" she said, moving towards the door "You can tell us what happened later, let's go see how she is"

Gavin nodded and opened the door to Delilah's room.

"Hey sweetie, how are you feeling?" he asked, picking up her pillow and taking it back to her. He slid in behind her again on the bed and put his arms around her

"Amber came to see you!"

Delilah smiled peacefully and snuggled closer to Gavin. She waved at Amber.

"Hey," she said, greeting her friend. "I'd get up and give you a hug, under different circumstances."

She noticed someone peeking in from the hallway. She raised an eyebrow. "I think we have a spy," she quipped. "Your brother?" she asked Amber, recognizing the man from the photograph.

"Delilah, Alexander. Alexander, Delilah" Gavin said with a smirk

He kissed the back of her neck lovingly and rubbed his hands up and down her arms again to warm her up, "did you sleep well?"

Delilah greeted Alexander with a smile. She closed her eyes and leaned back against Gavin.

"I slept very well," she replied, yawning.

Aside from that weird dream about Nicolao with a gun, she thought.

Gavin slipped his arms from her shoulders to clasp them tightly around Delilah as she leant back against him, holding her securely and lovingly

"Good," he said with a smile, "what did you dream about? Me?"

Delilah snuggled even closer to Gavin.

Why bother him with the details of that stupid dream? she thought. Nicolao isn't actually going to go shooting up an office.

"Yeah, I did," she said. "It was a nice dream where you and I were just laying in bed and holding each other and keeping each other company."

She kissed his hands softly and leaned back against him. "You're so nice and warm," she said, still drowsy.

"I bet she did" said Amber smiling at her "I'm so glad to see you're okay Delilah".

"She certainly is" said Alexander, putting an arm around his sister's shoulders "You should have heard her in the car on the way here". "And this charming individual" said Amber, resisting the urge to pinch his arm "Is indeed my brother Alexander".

Gavin laughed and raised his eyebrows, not sure to believe her dream. But then again, he knew she wouldn't lie to him

"I'm warm because I'm with you," he teased Delilah, winking at Amber and Alexander across the room

Delilah grinned. "Hey, Alexander," she said. "You look just like the picture Amber showed me."

He was a rather good-looking guy. Back when she was single and more into partying, she would have been on him like white on rice. But now, all she felt for him was that he'd make a good friend, and that he seemed to be a nice guy.

I definitely would choose Gavin over Alexander, she thought, even if I was just meeting them both.

She toyed with Gavin's fingers as she chatted with Amber and Alexander.

"Well, I don't know if there IS a bad picture of me out there, so at least I know it would look good" he said, and Amber groaned.

"Got any pins hiding around here for me to pop his ego with" she said, shaking her head at Alexander's smirk "Either that or some scissors to threaten his hair with".

"No, not the hair" said Alexander, reaching around to pull his long ponytail over his shoulder "I'll be good". "You better" said Amber, finding it difficult to keep a straight face.

She looked over at Delilah and laughed slightly. "Sorry, we get like that sometimes. Can I get you anything Delilah? Maybe something to eat or drink or something like that".

"A bit overly obsessed with the hair are we?" he joked, "I know what you mean."

He laughed and flicked his hair back with a girly pout, pretending to be a model, "think I should get mine cut yet?" he asked Delilah

Delilah groaned. "I'd like to eat a ton of stuff, but I don't know if the doctor says I'm okay to do so or not."

She began listing all the things she wanted to eat: "I'd like a burger and some fries and a slice of pizza and a salad and some fruit and chocolate... lots of chocolate..."

She groaned again and said, "The good kind of chocolate, not the cheap dollar store kind."

She kissed Gavin's hands. "Don't cut your hair, sweetie," she added. "You look good as you are."

"Well" said Amber, looking around "What if I got you some as a get well present then? I could go to Laura Secord and get lots and lots of yummy things and put them in a nice big basket with a bow and leave them on your desk".

"You just want an excuse to go to Laura Secord" said Alexander, poking her arm "And don't try to deny it".

"Hush you" she said "I'm a girl, we like chocolate. It makes us feel better"

Delilah nodded and said, "Fine. But make sure it's okay with the doctors. It would suck if you spent all that money and then found out I'm not allowed to have it."

She sighed and squeezed Gavin's hands. "Thanks for coming to see me, all of you."

Gavin smiled and kissed Delilah's palm gently

"You know I'll be here as often as I can. You've got the workaholic off work!" he laughed

He turned to Amber

"There's a fifty in the pocket of my jacket on the chair. Can you buy Delilah something for me?"

Delilah grinned. "Sounds good. It was great having people over to visit," she said. "Hopefully, I'll get out of this hospital soon."

She whispered in Gavin's ear, "And maybe after I get out, your back will be healed enough for us to have a little fun, eh?"

She giggled a little and stroked his hair.

Gavin raised his eyebrows and smirked, stretching his back

"My back feels pretty good now!" he teased, turning her head and began to kiss her passionately.

Delilah blushed and giggled, kissing Gavin just as passionately.

"You better behave," she teased. "This is a hospital. I don't think the beds are for that kind of use."

She reached under his shirt and gently stroked his back, careful not to be rough, just in case.

"You're marking me!" he giggled, wrapping his arms around her under her hospital gown and bit down gently onto her own neck

"I've only fooled around in a hospital once before," he replied with a wink, "but there's no way that it ever compared to this."

Delilah raised her eyebrow, both amused and surprised.

"When did you fool around in a hospital?" she asked, curling up on Gavin's lap.

Gavin smiled and held onto Delilah on his lap, playfully pulling her hospital gown over her head

"Hmm...it was a hot nurse that turned out to be a not so hot male nurse" he joked with a wink, giving Delilah little kisses down her neck

Delilah laughed and pulled the sheets tightly around herself.

"You pervert!" she squealed, grabbing the hospital gown back from Gavin. "Do you want the doctors to come in and see us like this?"

She paused. "Actually, you would like that," she snickered.

Gavin pulled the gown from her hands and lifted it high above his head, kissing her on the mouth with his other hand around the back of her head

"I'm not a pervert!" he giggled, "I just love you!"

Delilah laughed and tried to reach for the gown, but could not grab it.

"I'm going to get you for that!" she giggled, nipping Gavin's neck again.

Just then, a male nurse opened the door. He took a look at the couple and said, "...Well, it seems that your condition has improved. ...Uh... I'll be back in about an hour to get your temperature and some blood samples, okay? ...Great... I'll go tell the doctor that you're... um... conscious and... uh... active."

He shut the door quickly, face red.

Gavin burst out laughing and wrapped his arms around Delilah

"Lets hope you don't get him again!" he joked. He laughed until he couldn't stop and then climbed out of the bed and locked the door.

"That's better!" he said with a grin, climbing onto the bed and pulling Delilah onto his lap, "and you aren't getting the gown back that easily!"

Delilah giggled. "That poor guy," she said. "I bet today was his first day, or close to it."

Then, she pouted when Gavin would not return the hospital gown. "But I'm cold," she complained. "If I don't have my gown on, I'll freeze!"

She pulled the sheets even tighter around herself. "You wouldn't want me to freeze... would you?" she asked.

Gavin smirked

"They say the best cure for hypothermia is close bodily contact and sex! And I wouldn't want my girlfriend to freeze to death now would I!"

Delilah laughed. "You're hopeless," she said. "I guess you really believe in the phrase 'Work hard, play hard.'"

She wrapped the sheets around both her and Gavin and rested her head on his shoulder. "This is actually pretty nice," she commented. "You know, aside from the whole hospital thing and all..."

Gavin smiled and nuzzled his head against Delilah's.

"This is how it should always be," he said after a moment, "not the hospital bit; but the love. No fighting or other people involved. Just you and me, eh babe? You and me together."

Delilah blushed a little and rubbed her cheek against Gavin's soft hair.

"Yeah..." she said quietly. "I like that."

She wrapped her arms around Gavin's waist and held him tightly. "I love you," she whispered into his ear.

Gavin stroked Delilah's cheek with his thumb, smiling into her sparkling eyes

"I love you too," he replied, putting his arms around her, "I'm sorry about everything before. Cecilia and Nicolao. I'm sorry about treating you badly. I'm sorry that I drove you to drink. I'm sorry I handled it badly when I found out you were drinking. I'm sorry I let you be in hospital without me. I'm sorry I hurt you."

Delilah embraced Gavin tightly. "It's okay now, sweetie," she said soothingly. "Everything's going to be fine."

She softly kissed him, speaking in a soft, soothing tone, "Everything will be okay. After I get out of this hospital, we're going to be back to working together and ticking off Cecilia with our antics. Maybe we'll move in together, buy some new furniture, that kind of thing."

She stroked his hair. "I love you, Gav," she murmured, kissing his hands.

Gavin smiled and bent his head to kiss Delilah, stroking her back under the covers

"I'd like that," he whispered, "I'm so more than ready to be serious with a girl. And I'm so pleased you're that girl."

He slid further under the covers and pulled them tightly around the two of them so Delilah wouldn't feel exposed, "I love you too babe," he whispered softly, kissing her nose and cheeks

Delilah wrapped her arms around Gavin's waist and closed her eyes, allowing him to kiss her.

This is nice, she thought. A good-looking guy with a great personality and a steady job who takes good care of me. What more could I want?

She sighed happily and opened her eyes, allowing herself to gaze into Gavin's eyes.

Love you, Gavin, she thought. Love you like crazy.

Gavin shut his eyes softly and rested his head on hers once he'd broken apart the kiss. He opened them again and smiled into Delilah's eyes, his bluey purple eyes were always his most prominent feature

"When you get out of hospital I'm going to shower you with gifts like crazy!" he said with a chuckle, "I've already had another two dozen roses sent to your home!"

Delilah giggled, picturing her small studio apartment crammed with roses and various other presents.

"I might run out of space," she said, laughing, "and then I won't have anywhere to sleep or eat. And then I'll have to move in with you just so I can get a night of sleep without rolling over and getting stabbed by rose thorns."

Gavin chukled, "Well maybe I'll send you even more so you'll have to move in with me!" he teased

He tickled her bare stomach gently and kissed the top of her head

"Did you know that this is the first time in our three week relationship that we've been in bed together!"

Delilah laughed and squirmed away from his tickling fingers.

"I guess that means we're weird-- haven't done anything in a bed yet, but everywhere else has been fair game," she joked. "But that's your fault. If I'd had any say in the matter, we'd have been like all the other couples and utilized beds instead of, say, rooftops."

She poked playfully at Gavin, laughing.

Gavin laughed and pinned Delilah to the hospital bed and tickled her again

"Don't tell me you didn't enjoy the rooftop! I'd say that was the best time!"

He giggled to himself and kissed Delilah gently on the lips

Delilah giggled and ran her fingers through Gavin's hair.

"I didn't say I didn't enjoy it. Just saying that we did things a bit backwards," she replied, pressing her lips to his forehead.

"Actually," she continued, "we haven't done anything in the 'normal' order."

After the paramedics rushed into the hallway and left, taking with them the unconcious girl who was on the floor, Jeisa watched the two men rush after them. She stood alone in the hallway, taking in what just happened. Maybe she was bad luck; last time she was here the secretary Amber had to go to the hospital, and now this.

She sighed, and walked slowly to the elevator and to home. She tossed off her high heels and walked barefoot into her small apartment's kitchen. As the water was boiling on the stove top, she flipped on the TV. Her eyes nearly popped out when she found out that Cecilia Queen was missing. Everything bad always happened to the people around her.

Then the kettle whistled (screamed is more like it, actually) and Jeisa jumped. She made herself a cup of tea and drank it while watching the news broadcast. When the program was over and her mug was empty, she remebered that Nicolao didn't have her phone number or her address. So, she went to her handy-dandy computer and Googled him to find his email. (:D)

Gavin laughed and pressed his forehead gently against hers and looked in her eyes. He pretended to count on his hand

"We met. We were friends for a few hours. I gave you a necklace. We went on a 'date.' Then we fooled around. Seems nothing wrong to me!" he laughed

He ran his hands gently along the curve of her back and down across her bum, resting them there for a while

Delilah giggled. "Okay, fine. But normally, it's spread out over the course of months or years. Not hours or days," she teased.

She snuggled close to Gavin, enjoying just laying there with him and talking. It was... well... cozy.

She playfully nipped at his neck and said jokingly, "I bet you just went after me because I was the first chick you actually talked to that day at work."

"You're right! This entire thing could have been with Chinsa if she'd got there early enough" he teased, placing his hand gently on Delilah's cheek, "don't be stupid babe. I love you for you. I bought you a necklace didn't I."

He paused and tickled her upper leg gently, "you only went out with me because I bought you an expensive gift!!"

Delilah laughed and replied, with a wink, "Oh, damn... you figured out I'm a golddigger."

She giggled and nuzzled Gavin's neck. "Sweetie, you know I would have dated you, no matter what. I didn't even want to take the necklace, remember?"

Gavin smiled and moved to kiss Delilah gently on the lips

"You only go for the millionaire businessmen type!" he giggled, stroking her cheek gently.

He kissed her nose and cheeks and gently tickled her body, stroking every new bit of skin he uncovered, "I love you" he whispered against her cheek

Delilah cuddled Gavin. "I love you too," she whispered.

She wrapped her arms around him tightly. "Please, don't ever leave me," she said softly, pressing her face against him. "I need you."

She looked into his eyes. For some reason, she had just felt unusually terrified of losing him.

Gavin smiled and lifted Delilah's chin up so they locked eyes. After holding her gaze for a moment he shut his eyes and kissed her

"I promise I'll never leave you," he whispered, his voice serious and honest, "I promise I'll love you and worship you forever."

He paused and held Delilah around the waist, "please don't leave me," he said to her in a saddened voice

Delilah clung to Gavin. "I won't leave you," she whispered. She pressed her face against his neck, crying. "I promise."

Why am I so emotional all of a sudden? she wondered. Why am I so scared of losing Gavin?

She wrapped her arms tighter around him, trembling. "I don't want to lose you."

Gavin instantly held Delilah tighter at hearing her cry. He lifted her face up and kissed each tear away gently

"Hey, hey," he said softly, trying to sooth her as he rocked her gently in his arms, "why the crying? You aren't going to lose me. I love you too much to ever let that happen."

He stroked her back soothily and slowly, making her feel as loved as she deserved to be and held onto her tightly as she trembled

Delilah finally managed to stop crying and looked up at Gavin.

"I love you," she whispered again. She caressed his face gently and smiled. "No one and nothing will take me away from you."

She kissed his fingers softly and whispered, "As long as you love me, I'll love you."

Gavin grinned happily and gently stroked Delilah's back, hips and legs as they lay together in each others arms

"I'll love you until the day I die," he whispered honestly, kissing Delilah's fingers as she kissed his, "no matter what, I will always love you."

He smiled lovingly at her, not wanting to take his eyes from her. He never dreamed he'd fall in love so quickly and with the girl of his dreams. She'd been under his nose all along and he hadn't realised it. It was fate that she became his secretary. Fate and love

Delilah rested her head against Gavin's chest, smiling contentedly.

"Gavin," she whispered softly, kissing his neck. "I love you so much."

She sighed and closed her eyes. Mine, she thought possessively, wrapping her arms around him. He's mine, and I'm his.

Delilah sighed happily and closed her eyes, drifting off to sleep.

Nothing bad is going to happen to me, she thought. Gavin is here to take care of me and protect me... forever.

She fell asleep, a small smile on her face.

The male nurse peeked into the room nervously, hoping not to see anymore nude people for a long time.

Delilah slumbered peacefully, her arms wrapped around Gavin, much as she had slept with her arms around a teddy bear many years before.

Even as she slept, a small smile was on her lips, as though her contented state existed not just in the real world, but in the dream realm as well.

All was well in the world, as far as she was concerned. Still, in the back of her mind, she continued to ponder the strange dream she'd had about Nicolao, clutching a gun.

Amber had indeed gone to Laura Secord, having picked up both Delilah's gifts and something for the birthday party. She put the chocolates in Delilah's fridge to keep them from melting and walked upstairs to her own office.

"I bet she'll like the one shaped like a guitar" she thought, rooting through her tea stash looking for her last bag of Moroccan Mint tea "It's just so her".

Finding the tea, she plopped it in the mug and flicked the kettle on, sitting down in her desk and waiting for it to pop.

Delilah awoke with a jolt. "Just a dream," she muttered to herself. "It was just a dream."

He wouldn't really do that... would he? she thought, drifting back off to sleep.

"What's wrong?" he asked, as she muttered to herself.

Cecilia was practicing to walk, which wasn't really easy, her legs hurted so much. The doctor helped her walk a bit, but she just wasn't ready and went back into the bed.
"Doctor?" she asked. The doctor turned around.

"Am I going to die?" The doctor's eyes widened as he heard that, but didn't turn around so she wouldn't see his face.
-"To be honest, we don't know. It's a chance you'll die, yes. But I'll take care of you. When you're about to die, don't give up, ok?"
Cecilia nodded. "Ok" and the doctor left the room.

Gavin kissed Delilah lovingly, seeing her begin to close her eyes

"I'll leave you to let you sleep hunni," he said gently.

He slid her hospital gown back over her head and tucked her into the bed, kissing her forehead.

"I'll be back soon babe," he whispered in her ear, gently kissing it before he left the room.

After a brief walk to the shop down the road, Gavin purchased a large expensive box of chocolates and two red roses: one for Delilah and one for Cecilia, and walked back to the hospital. On his way back to Delilah's room he stopped off to see Cecilia.

"Hey" he said, opening the door with a smile, "how are you doing?"

Gavin walked into the hospital room and lay one of the red roses on her night stand, "I brought you a get well soon present."

She smiled. "Thanks"
"I'm doing a little better, I can sit now. It's hard to lay here, you can only stare at one spot or else it might hurt" she laughed.
"How are you?"

Gavin smiled kindly and sat down on the chair, flicking his hair casually out of his eyes.

"At least you're happier again. I'm fine, a little shaky from missing work but pretty good!" he replied

"I missed work" she joked.
"I'm not really happier, just better." she said, looking at him. "The doctor said there is a chance that I'm going to die. I don't want to die, Gavin." she closed her eyes and breathed out. She then opened them again.
"I hope you're happy" she sighed. "Now i'm not in the way anymore."

"Why would I be happy if you died? And in the way of what?"

He looked at Cecilia confused, "I don't want you to die. You're my friend and I'm concerned about you."

He stood up and helped Cecilia out of the bed carefully and placed her on the chair

Gavin nodded and sat on the bed opposite her

"I'm sorry. I won't bring it up again," he said, "just as long as we're clear though. Anyway, how are you holding up? Had any visitors?"

"No, I haven't had any visitors" she said softly. "oh wait, the press wanted to get in but the hospital didn't want them here."

Gavin looked at her sadly. She was so alone in the world, she needed a friend and he wanted to be that person

"The press! Someone's Miss Popular!" he said with a smile, "didn't Amber stop by to say hi?"

"Nope she didnt. And i'm not miss popular, there's just no news lately." she sighed. "I want to know when I can get out of here. Because I really want to."

"You have to stay in here till you're better. Don't worry, I'll look after everything at the office. I can manage. You just need to recover first."

"I'd like that" she smiled. "I like chocolate." She took one of the crutches and placed it on the ground.
Come on... please let me walk she got herself up and tried to walk a few steps.

Gavin sighed heavily and watched Cecilia take a few small steps with her crutches, stealing a glance at his watch to see how much longer before he should go back to Delilah. He'd only left her to buy her chocolates

"Walking now then?" he asked

Cecilia smiled. "I guess so, it's" before she could even finish her sentence she fell and landed half on the bed and half on him. "Aaargh"

Gavin looked shocked as Cecilia fell onto him. He picked her up and put her back in the bed

"I'd stay in there for the time being," he said, a serious look on his face, "what if you'd fallen and I hadn't been here!"

"It would have been really unpleasant." she said and rubbed her stomach. "Ouch. Thanks for picking me up and being here" she coughed. "God it hurts"

He nodded curtly at Cecilia and left the room. He walked to Delilah's door and sat down outside, the single red rose and box of chocolates in his hands

She tried to reach for the button the nurse gave her but it fell behind the bed. She sighed and tried to grab it.

She started coughing and her she felt the pain rising, there was something wrong and she needed someone to hear her.

"HELP!" she yelled as hard as she could, hoping Gavin or someone else would hear her.

Gavin heard a faint cry from Cecilia's room. He stood up lazily and walked down the corridor, poking his head around the door.

"Oh god," he said when he saw her coughing, "sh*t!"

"Gavin!" she called at him. "Get a nurse or a doctor, please." she said as she collapsed on the ground, still coughing.

Gavin ran out into the hallway and immediately caught the attention of a young pretty nurse

"Can I help you hun?" the nurse asked with a grin

Gavin looked at her, realising how much he'd changed from being with Delilah, usually he'd have been all over her: especially with the eyeing look she was giving him, but he wasn't bothered anymore. He had Delilah and that's all he needed.

"Yea, my boss, Cecilia Queen, she needs a doctor NOW."

The nurse nodded and ran off as Gavin ran back into Cecilia's room. He knelt down on the floor and clasped her hand

"Just breathe deeply," he soothed, running his hand up and down her back, "a doctor is coming."

Cecilia only cried, it hurted so much, and the fear that she might die was just overwhelming.

Gavin was pushed away as several doctors and nurses ran into Cecilia's room. He stood up and walked into the hallway, pacing anxiously. He entered Delilah's room and left the chocolates on her nightstand, gently kissing her forehead, before he began pacing the hallway again.

The nurses put things on her, in her and much more, Cecilia didn't understand it no more and she just wished it was over, then she felt her eyes closing.

Amber shoved the phone down and glared at it, trying to will it to blow up. She has been getting a steady stream of calls all day from people asking about Cecilia and was getting fed up.

The phone rang again and she ignored it, deciding to make her way down to the cafeteria. She was starving and needed to get something to eat.

Then some doctors came in and quickly grabbed the pedals.

Chris knocked on Amber's door, knowing she was one of the few people who were in the office.

Chinsa was running late for her photo shoot. Alexis her acholic girlfriend was supposed to help her call the party guest but she got sloppy drunk so Chinsa carried her to bed and did it all on her own. Calling her Japanese friends and speaking japanese then calling Alexis's american friends and speaking english tired her out but she had finished by 3 a.m. She was rushing but then she passed by an office where a man sat and talked on a cell phone. He was very attractive more attractive than most men in the office way more attractive than Gavin. She thought well I have a little time to chat.
She put on her toothiest smile showing her perfectly aligned teeth. "Hello". She said with her innocent japanese accent which was rather fake because her accent could on be heard when she said words that had the letter S in it.

"Goddammit" muttered Amber as she heard the knock on the door "Of all the stinking luck".

She forced a smile on her face and went to open the door. "Hello" she said to the man on the other side "Who are you and what can I do for you".

He walked downstairs and walked over to the mailroom, where he carefully placed the chocolate in her mail box.

Cecilia woke up in the same room as she collapsed in. She made it, again. She asked the doctors to get Gavin for her, her only friend.

Gavin sat on the ground outside Delilah's bedroom, his head in his hands

"Gavin. Gavin Ruppetts?" a doctor said.

He looked up instantly and looked alarmed, "is everything ok?" he asked.

The doctor nodded and signalled for him to follow him, so Gavin got to his feet and walked after the doctor, entering Cecilia's room with slight hesitation. He walked over to her bedside where she was attended by several nurses and touched his hand to her forehead

"Hey." he said softly, "are you ok?"

She looked at him, her eyes half closed, she was tired, but couldn't sleep. "Hey" she said back, she almost talked in a whisper. "I'm so glad you were still here. I really need someone now." she breathed slowly. "It just hurts so much" she said as a tear fell down her cheek.

Gavin nodded and stroked her forehead comfortingly.

"I have to get back to Delilah soon," he said sadly, knowing it would just hurt her even more, "but I'll stay till you fall asleep."

She slowly moved her hand to his other hand and held it. "My heart still beats, it's a miracle. They had to bring me back for three or two times. I don't even know where the strenght to go on came from."
It was him... I just know it. she thought. "I'm really pale right now, aren't I?"

Gavin smiled and squeezed Cecilia's hand gently. Enough to comfort her but not give her the wrong impression

"Yes you are pale." he said, gently stroking her forehead to try and bring some color back to them, "I'm pleased you're alive though. It wouldn't have been great if you'd died."

"Nope, it wouldn't have been great." she repeated. She smiled as he gently stroked her forehead with his warm hands, it felt great. "There's something for you in the drawers, the first one. It's a ring I bought and I want you to have it."

"I'm not taking your ring. It's yours and there's no way I could have it. No C, I won't take it hun."

He rested his hand on her forehead soothingly

"Please, take it" she said, looking him in the eye. "I really want you to have it, so there will always be a piece of me with you if it might go wrong. Please take it, Gavin." she squeezed his hand, which wasn't really a squeeze since she had no energy for that.

He took the ring from her drawer and slipped it into his pocket

Gavin held Cecilia's hand in a friendly manner as she closed her eyes. He waited ten minutes, until he was sure she was asleep and stood up, leaving the room quietly. He walked down the corridor and quietly entered Delilah's room, sitting down on the chair beside her bed

"Hey sweetie, I'm back," Gavin whispered softly, just to let her know he was there and wasn't going to leave her again

Chinsa was about to call in sick to work when she saw she had 20 missed calls. "I knew I was popular but not this popular". Chinsa thought to herself. She listened to her voicemail the first nine-teen were from Alexis her drunken girlfriend. Then she listen to the last one it said. "I am Laura Bloomfield I am calling regarding Alexis hunter .
She is in gaurded condition at the Metropolitan hospital she attempted suicide. You were listed as an emergency contact. Please come to the hospital as soon as possible." Chinsa ran about 2 blocks but had to slow down because she was wearing stiletos. She arrived at the hospital and rushed to the reception area almost falling over the circular desk where the receptionist sat. She frantically asked "Where is Alexis Hunter?" The receptionist flipped through a large book then she said "She is in the ICU oh wait she was moved to the infirmary. But before you enter I must ask your relation to Ms. Hunter. Chinsa lied and said "I am her sister". The woman said "Ms. Hunter doesn't have any sisters. b Chinsa /b then said. "I am her sister in-law but were very close". The woman opened the doors to the infirmary. "She is in room number 37 curtain two." The receptionist said. b Chinsa /b replied saying "Thank You". She then ran down the large hallway until she reached room 37.She open a curtain and there was Alexis ."My beloved why did you do this?"Chinsa asked even though Alexis was asleep. She started crying she didn't want wake her so she left the room and sat in the hallway on the floor. She was hoping a familiar face would come by and bring her some comfort. She had doesed off and when she woke up she re-entered the room she heard a voice that sounded like Gavin's . But she ignored it and sat on the edge of the hospital bed holding Alexis hand she started crying why had she done this? She felt Alexis thin fingers moving. "My Beloved are you awake". Alexis opened her eyes and crankily said. "I want some vodka. I have been sober way to long".
Chinsa smiled and said "Wait until your out of this place I don't think the nurses would appriciate you being intoxicated. I am so happy your ok my beloved". Chinsa then crawled into the tiny hospital bed. Alexis gently embraced her. Chinsa wanted to ask her a million questions but for now she would just lay here everything was going to be ok.

Leaning back in the chair as he stretched his back, he opened his cellphone. Dialing the number that was given in the email he left a voice message.
"Hello, I am calling for Jeisa Intel, this is Nicolao, from the office. I appreciate your sentiments and I am assured they will be on the up and up soon. I am calling to set an appointment for a fitting at your earliest convenience. Thanks again for calling." With that he closed his phone, and sat at the desk. The bundles of paper had long since been removed, he couldn't work in a dirty office. The gown, had turned out rather well, for a sample fitting. His fingers grazed over the dainty fabric as he smoothed over the wrinkles.

The demon sat in the drawer, he knew it was there, and he longed for yet another sip, just one, only one it would calm his nerves. His fingers clutched over the handle, as he sat there contemplating if he should. Five long treacherous minutes he clung to the handle. The wheels of the drawer squealed as it opened, his hand wrapped around the bottle. Watching, waiting, unsure if it was worth it anymore. It was just easier this way, easier, as he uncorked the bottle. The bottle sat on his desk, like an instant invitation, but he didn't drink. His throat felt as if he hadn't drank for forty days, and forty nights. It was so dry that his tongue stuck to the roof of his mouth, as the devil awaited, tauting, and pleading with the ominous black label.

Cilla headed over to the cafeteria, inserted a dollar in the soda machine and out came a bottle of Coke. Taking it, she headed back to the photostudio to continue her photos due soon.

Cilla arrived to the hospital shortly after her session of smiling nonstop at the camera. After asking for Delilah's door number.. she arrived to the floor quickly. It seemed like forever since the last time she had seen her.

"Delilah? Are you in there?"

"I'm a secretary, from no one actually, I just do paperwork with other secretary's. Don't know why they hired me."

"It must be fo a reason. Hey, what time ist?" he asked.

"Come on!" Delilah called.

Cilla walked into the hospital room.

"Hey," Delilah greeted her. "I can't exactly get up and hug you, but... well, you know how it is."

"Dunno, why?" he asked and sat down on a nearby chair.

Cilla opened the door carefully to see the condition her friend was in. "Hey Delilah. Er.. nice hospital, isn't it? Except the fact that the whiteness has blinded me.."

She set down the plate of cheesecake on the counter. "Sorry, but it was either food or flowers, and I'm sure Gavin has showered you enough gifts already.."

"How are you feeling?" she asked, concerned.

"I'm hungry. Just wanted to see if now was a particularly good time to get lunch. Coming with me?" he asked.

"Nah, I just ate, feel free to go and eat yourself, I need to do some paperwork."

"I'm fine," Delilah said. "Just really freaking hungry. They haven't fed me anything yet, and it's making me cranky."

She stared hungrily at the cheesecake, feeling her mouth water. "That cheesecake looks really good," she remarked.

Cilla giggled and took the plate, moving it right in front of Delilah's nose. "Mmmm... cheesecake..." she teased, moving it away from her nose, then back, and away, then back.. and continued on.

"NOW EAT IT." she demanded, putting it on Delilah's stomach, making sure the plate was balanced so it wouldn't fall off.

Delilah grabbed up the plate and devoured the cheesecake in about one minute.

"Thanks," she said breathlessly, handing Cilla the plate. "I needed that. I was sure they were planning to starve me to death or something."

She laughed a little.

"Erm.. you eat fast. I should've brought more!" she laughed, placing the plate on the table.

"How long do you expect that'll you'll be here? It's lonely at the building. Chelsea's on a business trip, and half of the people there are here because of you guys! It's almost scary," Cilla said, making a stupid expression.

"I ate fast because I haven't eaten in a while," Delilah replied.

"Hopefully, I won't be in here much longer, but the doctors sure seem to be performing a lot of tests on me. Something about brain waves, I think they said."

She shrugged. "I have no idea, really."

"Brain waves?" she repeated, thinking. Cilla had heard of that before.... somewhere. "Did you ever have any.. learning problems? Dylsexia? Attention disorders and all?"

Delilah shook her head. "No learning problems, except for the fact that I generally suck in math. No disorders or anything like that. I think they said something about getting really weird readings from the brain activity monitor while I was unconscious."

Cilla looked at her and shrugged. "I'm not a doctor, but I think they'll be keeping you in here for a long time. They'll be researching. I think you might be having abnormal activities when they take the tests, but that's usually normal."

"Want more cheesecake? I have more in the car."

Delilah nodded. "More cheesecake would be great."

She sat back and thought to herself, What are all these tests for? What's so special about my brain?

Meanwhile...

The doctor shook hands with the other men and said, "Gentlemen, I'm glad you've arrived."

"After seeing those charts, I had to hear more," one of the other men said.

The doctor nodded and put up a series of slides as he spoke. "I would like to discuss a patient, who we shall refer to as D. D was brought in here several days ago. She was, from all tests, in good physical and mental health, except for the fact that her body was showing signs of emotional stress. She was unconscious while I ran tests on her. However, as you gentlemen can see from the charts, her brain activity was extremely high. Also, while reviewing footage from the tests, from the cameras in the room, I noticed something extremely unusual..."

He flipped a switch, turning on a video. The footage was slightly grainy, but everything was visible enough to know what was going on. The doctor was shown, drawing some blood from the young woman's arm. She was hooked up to various machines. As he drew the blood, a weak voice could be heard, saying angrily, "Don't do that again! Leave me alone! I need all my blood!"

The doctor switched off the video and said, "There was no one speaking in the room at that point in time. This happened several times throughout the course of the video."

The doctor sighed a little. "I would like to propose a hypothesis. Suppose that normally, our brain waves operate on one wavelength, which we shall call Wavelength A. However, suppose that under extreme cases of distress, the brain were to operate on another wavelength, about the same wavelength as, say, electronical devices, which we shall call Wavelength B."

"What do you propose we do?" one of the other men asked.

"We run further tests," another suggested.

Shortly after, Cilla went back to her car to get out another slice of the cheesecake. Entering Delilah's room, she placed the plate on the table, and then a doctor in white came in. "Ma'am, visiting time will be over in fifteen minutes. I'm going to need you to leave then," she nodded, looking back at her friend.

"Here you go, it's my second-last piece. I'm saving the other one for me." she stuck out her tounge at Delilah and passed the plate to her. "Don't worry, I'm sure you'll be fine. The tests aren't too bad.. just don't do anything harmful, okay?"

Little did Delilah know, she heard almost everything the doctor's said in the next room, thanks to all the harmless training back in her childhood days with her siblings...

Delilah happily ate the second piece of cheesecake.

"Thanks, Cilla," she said, wiping the crumbs from her mouth. She smiled happily up at her friend.

She was completely oblivious to the plans the doctors had.

Cilla smiled, took the plate and trashed it in the garbage. (It was a paper plate... right?)

Again, there was another few knocks from the door and then the sound of a doorknob turning. It was the same doctor from earlier.
"Ma'am, visiting time is over," he said, with absolutely no expression. She looked at the clock. Two minutes had passed. Something wasn't right, and she knew it.

"It's only been two minutes," she stated sharply, picking up her bags and waved to her friend. She hated to see Delilah in the condition she was already in. What on earth did they want to test her for now?

Delilah looked over at her friend, worried.

Something's not right. Something's definitely not right, she thought. Cilla, don't listen to them!

She stared fearfully at the doctor. It was bad enough that hospitals terrified her, but this doctor really freaked her out.

The doctor pulled out a hypodermic needle and filled it with a clear fluid.

"What's that?" Delilah asked nervously.

"It's to help you sleep," he replied, injecting it into her arm.

Cilla couldn't help but leave the hospital with a bad feeling. With the little knowledge she had, she knew if they injected something to make her sleep, she could easily wake up if they were doing a brain wave test. But that was the part which made her unsure - were they really doing a brain wave test?

She headed over to her car and unlocked the door, leaving her purse on the chair, then slammed the door shut, locking it again. Entering the hospital, she sat down quietly, smiled at the receptionist and flipped through a magazine, listening to the receptionist typing quickly and a cry of a baby.

Delilah was asleep for several minutes, when she awoke with a jolt, feeling something stab into her skin. She tried to yank her arm away, but she realized, to her horror, that she was tied down.

She was no longer in her room, but in a white room filled with various machines. Bright, blinding lights shone in her eyes from above.

"What did you just stab me with?" she screamed.

"I was taking a blood sample," the doctor explained.

"Well, cut that out. I need my blood," she snapped. "What the f*** is going on?!"

"Tests. Your brainwaves show a lot of activity under times of stress, and I want to replicate those results."

"And how do you plan on doing that?" she asked.

In response, the doctor forced another needle into her skin.

"Delilah."

As soon as Cilla heard a scream, she knew it was from her friend and jolted up quickly, throwing the magazine on the floor. She ran to the receptionist and tried to catch her breath. "I need to see Delilah Stanton!"

"I'm sorry," he said, eyes on the computer. "Delilah Stanton seems to be in the middle of testing. Come back in an hour."

"I WANT TO SEE HER NOW!" she screamed. The receptionist picked up the phone but she grabbed it and slammed it back down. "They're going to KILL her!"

The man sighed and looked up at the crazy woman standing in front of him. "Listen. Doctors, are professionals, unlike crazy women demanding people around! I suggest you leave IMMEDIATELY before I call SECURITY."

Cilla crossed her arms, turned away, frowning. Yes, doctors are professionals, but professionals are humans and humans make MISTAKES!
Knowing the fact that replicating while testing could kill Delilah, she had to do something, but what?
