((Note: This RP is actually a run-off of the ‘High School: A True Reality’ RP that was hosted by LadyAshe. Because LA is leaving, and thusly has become unable to run the RP anymore, the current members have decided to create a new thread for the RP with me as your host, and Atropa assisting. So, this means it will be a continuation of the events going on in the old RP, but now it's revamped and open to new members!! You can choose to enter as a student who has been attending the school all along, or as a transfer, if you'd like. It’s not mandatory, but if you’d like to have a better idea of some of the people already involved, who their friends are, and who their enemies are, I would suggest just quickly skimming over the older RP, here (http://forums.sims2community.com/showthread.php?t=42365&page=1) . This is time-consuming, however, so we don’t expect you to do so. It’s at your own discretion. If at any point you have questions, feel free to contact me or Atropa—we are more than happy to help.))

It’s your junior year of high school, and you’ve finally hit that notoriously significant age: 16. You’ve made it through the first two years, and have settled in to your own particular group of friends. It is from these groups of friends that cliques have spawned, forcing students to distance themselves from one another in certain cliques. Brooklake is not your average and boring high school—fights, break-ups, make-ups, outrageous field trips, and parties are always occurring, and there is never a lack of drama. But with the hostilities and alliances between cliques, many a time you will find yourself caught in the crossfire. Whether you make friends, or make enemies—you will have to find a way to survive high school, or your sweet sixteen won’t be quite so sweet after all.

Cliques: (feel free to suggest a new clique!)
Jocks - Your typical athlete. Participates in a varsity sport, is well-liked and popular, and has practically everything handed to them on a silver platter. The guys are regular Casanovas, with girls tripping over themselves to get their attention. However, they have a reputation for being a bit on the duller side, and are seen as meat-heads who never use their brain.
Preps- They are the fashionistas, the most popular kids, the cheerleaders, the rich kids. Known for being very beautiful, very well dressed, but also incredibly shallow and manipulative, as well as self-centered and egotistical. Furthermore, they’re often outrageous flirts and teases, constantly playing with the emotions of others.
Trouble-makers/Badasses- These are the kids you don’t want to mess with. Tough as nails, they walk around with a huge chip on their shoulder, prepared to strike at anything that dares to cross them. They are known for being somewhat antisocial and aggressive, but they posses the smarts that the equally brawny jocks may lack. However, unlike the jocks, when they start fights—they are almost always the ones to get the blame. If you’re a Badass, chances are that you’ll be spending a lot of time in detention.
Achievers – These are the brilliant kids; the ones who will be owning the multi-million dollar corporations when they’re older. They ace all their tests, get practically all A’s, and never miss a day of school. Despite their impeccable work ethic and standards, they are often given the label of nerds, geeks, and teacher’s pets. Although they may be picked on in high school, they’ll probably be the ones having the last laugh.
Skateboarders/Surfers – These students a the most laid-back, relaxed kids in school. With their mellow and calm attitudes, they hardly let anything phase them and never go out of their way to create drama. They’re known to be the slackers, and this is often revealed through their grades. While they may not be stupid, they certainly aren’t geniuses, and they’re notorious for being extremely lazy and a bit of the class clown.
Goths – The perpetually troubled, deep, emotional kids. They don the darkest clothing they can find, wear thick, heavy, and dramatic makeup. Often, they are incredibly pale. These are some of the most artistic kids in school, however. Be it poetry, painting, or music, one thing is for sure—they’ve mastered one type or the other, as a means to express their angst and deepest emotions. Sadly, they are often given the label of freaks, because they can be misunderstood.
Normies – The average kids. They don’t really stand out in any particular thing. They’re not over-achievers, but they’re not under-achievers either. They show up to school, make their way through the day, and maintain a balance between school and their own lives. Because they are labeled as boring, they often blend into the background, not really fitting into any one clique. The normies are often the wallflowers, but when you get to know them, they often bloom before your very eyes, or shrivel up and prove they’re as boring as they seem.
The Oddballs - The exact opposite of the Normies, the Oddballs stand out like a sore thumb. People can point them out a mile away, with their eccentric clothing and their loud mouths. Lighthearted and outgoing, they talk to anyone and anything that crosses their paths, not fearing social boundaries. While their free-spirited nature and unique ways can be a good thing in its own light, they are often looked down upon by others and labeled ‘obnoxious’ or simply 'out-there'.

Name:
+ izabel.
+ marie.
+ laurent.
Age/Class:
+ sixteen.
+ junior.
Clique:
+ preps.
After School Activity:
+ cheerleading.
Brief History/Personality Description:
+ personality - Izabel isn't 'miss nice girl who's everybody's best friend'. She's a bitch to put it blatantly and she knows it. Girls want to be her, guys want to have her. She's really the new Queen Bee of the school. She's outgoing and rash and has everybody wrapped around her fingers. Atleast, most of the people. Sure she's not everybody's best friend, but she has an inner circle of friends who follow her around like little dogs. Spoiled and a princess, Izabel is royalty in everybody else's eyes.
+ history - Izabel's mother and father are very well known people. Her father, owns the top record label in the world, and her mother is a retired supermodel who liked to throw cellphones at her assistants. Taking her beauty from her mother, Izabel also recieved her ignorance and arrogance. Growing up, Izabel was always the popular one. She had boys in her hand by middle school. During sophomore year, Izabel started to get romantically linked with a french teacher only five years older. But that didn't matter, she was still a minor. Forced to move, Izabel and her family moved into a grand mansian off the road of the road of Brooklake High School, which she now attends.
Anything else you might want to add:
+ fears rejection, spiders, heights, debt, becoming fat, being thrown off the map of popularity, and death.
+ transferred from a cali school.

Name: Lila Kavanagh
Age/Class: 16/Junior
Clique: Normies
After School Activity: Drama Club
Brief History/Personality Description: Lila is a girl of many complexities, a living, breathing paradox. While she is quite spunky and unafraid to speak her mind, she is equally self-conscious and unsure of herself. Ever the optimist, Lila is convinced that there is some good in everyone, and every situation. Sometimes she may come across as a bit naive, and too idealistic, but she is a loyal and trustworthy friend who never falters in matters concerning those she cares about. Perpetually smiling and giggling, her compassionate demeanor makes her easy to get along with, and makes her fast-friends with almost everyone she meets. Beneath her ever-happy facade, however, she masks any pain she experiences, because she doesn't like to burden others with her problems.
Anything else you might want to add: Lila is deathly afraid of spiders and tinfoil, has a fascination with trees and staring out windows, is extremely ticklish, and loves quotes. Also, her twin brother is currently in the hospital with a debilitating illness that she rarely mentions to anyone, save for a close few.

((I hope it's okay if I changed her to the normies :)))
Name: Dana Scherer
Age/Class: 16/Junior
Clique: Normies
After School Activity: School Newspaper
Brief History/ Personality Description: Dana grew up with her mom, dad, and her two brothers. Soon, her mom and dad split, leaving her and her brothers with her dad. They only saw their mother on the weekend. Soon she was sent to and all girl boarding school when she was 12, and has just transferred to a public school. Her brothers are now both in college, and she is able to see her mom a lot more.
Dana is a very sweet, happy, loving girl. She is patient and likes to listen to others. Dana can be very nosy and annoying sometimes, and she can be stubborn. She tells people how she feels only if the time is right. She is somewhat outgoing, and has great creativity which she expresses through her writing.
Anything else you might want to add: She is afraid of spiders, snakes, bugs, sharks, tigers, lions, and the dark. She also had a boyfriend before she left the school, but are no longer together because they grew apart. She loves to write stories, especially novels. She hopes that one day she will become a famous writer. Music is very important to Dana, she'll listen to anything but classical. She listens to music almost every time of the day, except during class of course.

That's totally fine-- Again! To any of the members of High School: A True Reality, you can choose to alter your original character, make a new one, or keep them as they were. (This includes switching their cliques). It's your choice.
AtropaMandragora
9th Aug 2007, 10:59 PM
Name: John David "J.D." Harper (though few know his real name, but those who do usually know better than to call him by it.)
Age/Class: 16/Junior
Clique: Troublemaker
After School Activity: Drama club. He'd rather shoot himself in the foot than actually act, but lighting, he can do. When he feels like it. (Hey, if you can hotwire a car, you're usually good with electricity. *LOL*)
Brief History/Personality Description:
J.D.'s always been a quite trouble kid, but didn't really start acting out until hitting his teens. His parents are divorced. He's living with his mother, and hasn't seen his father in the past couple of years, by choice, as the father has a serious drinking problem. When facing the choice of who to live with, J.D. figured that living with his mother was the lesser of two evils. His mother doesn't quite know how to handle him, and J.D. would prefer it if she just left him alone altogether.
In school, J.D. is far from the nicest person around. He's an ill-mannered, bad-tempered hothead, who will often resort to violence to get his point across. He's also got a problem with authority and anyone opposing him, which has earned him the spot as everyone's #1 scapegoat. If something can be pinned om him, chances are it will be.
He despises preps and jocks.
Anything else you might want to add: He's quite good at sketching, but keeps it mostly to himself as he has no need to be seen as anything but what he believes himself to be: a jerk and a delinquent.
Picture:
http://www.vintagestars.com/river/Test2/JDHarper3_Troublemaker_Atropa.jpg
------------------------------------------------
Name: Leigh Grayson
Age/Class: 16/Junior
Clique: Troublemaker
After School Activity: Drama club
Brief History/Personality Description:
Leigh is really quite an intelligent girl, but still does poorly in school. Having moved here with her family at the age of 13, she quickly fell in with the wrong crowd (J.D., among others), and things have gone down hill ever since.
Her younger brother Aiden is physically disabled, and that has left Leigh feeling that her parents pay more attention to him. The only thing that gives her attention, is when she's doing something bad. It might not be the kind of attention she'd prefer, but at least it's attention. And so she's become quite good at being bad (even though she might not realize her own reasons for doing what she's doing).
She's made a habit of skipping classes, and can be gone from school for days. She has a huge problem with authority, and any attempt to discipline her will be destined to fail.
Leigh has also earned a reputation for being a bit on the loose side, (which is really the result of seeking the love and affection she feels she doesn't get from her parents, and like alot of teenage girls, she mistakes sex for love) and there have been rumours that she's even been with one of the male teachers. (This rumour is, however, untrue.)
She's no stranger to partying (the self-destructive kind of way) and has had to be brought to the hospital to be stomach pumped twice. Once for alcohol poisoning, and once for taking pills in what is believed to have been an attempt to committ suicide. This too is well known, as it happened during a party almost a year ago.
To the other students she's a hellcat, and has gotten into her fair share of fist fights. She will not hesitate to punch someone if provoked. However, if you don't get on her bad side, she'll most likely leave you alone, or she might even turn out to be quite approachable.
Anything else you might want to add: Plays guitar and does back-up vocals/harmonies in a local rock band. One of J.D.'s ex's, altough they still hang out with the same crowd, and get along fairly well.

Application in progress:
Name: Lucretia Avalanche
Age/Class: automatically 16/Junior
Clique: Goth
After School Activity: Art Club
Brief History/Personality Description:
Well, what can I tell you about myself, obviously I was born wearing eyeliner. It was in the blood, the dark hair, pale skin, single groupie mum and some elusive singer who she claimed was my father. Fate wouldn’t have anything less than the rejection of normal society. Some people might describe me as dark, depressing and evil but they just don’t get the humour. Sure I love black, it’s my favourite colour but I also have a deep appreciation of crimson and silver.
Anything else you might want to add:
I didn’t mean to burn the gym down, no really, I was just smoking a few clove cigarettes in the changing room and well accidentally uhm burned the cheerleaders' designer clothes. No one was hurt...much, there were a couple of toasted Barbie’s but no-one died. They expelled me and sent me here thinking a change of scene would do me good.
Special occassions etc.

This'll be freeform right?
trampledsneakers
9th Aug 2007, 11:09 PM
Mhmm! It'll be freeform, but I may set up little... events. Not tasks necessarily, but occasionally little things that will keep people involved. (For example, the dances and trips that the students will take.) But there are no eliminations, and no points to be earned. However, if we find that people are bored out of their minds, we can always edit it to make it more fun!

[Hee! Yeay~ I'm definately joining in, and I actually think that I'm going to change characters. [Would it be alright for me to do twins? :o] But...um...I have a suggestion for a clique. How about those kids who stand out like a sore thumb, with brightly colored clothes and strange personalities. Eh...I guess you'd call them the weirdos? *shrugs* Because the character I have in mind really wouldn't fit in any of those. o_o It's just a suggestion though. It seems like there are already a good number of cliques, so it might be a little much to add another...]
trampledsneakers
9th Aug 2007, 11:17 PM
Yay Cherry! You are welcome to do twins (everyone has the opportunity for a max of two characters, so those can be yours), and Maybe I'll just make it Goths/Weirdos. Sound okay?
edit... nah, their descriptions are too different.
Do you mean like a Raver? xD
Or just a weirdo? Because I guess I could just make another clique for the Out-There kids.
edit:
DON'T FORGET!!
You can create a Teacher as a character! They'll be just as involved, especially if there are other teachers to interact with. Who knows what might happen? ;)
cherryp3
9th Aug 2007, 11:25 PM
Ok! That's great. And... Yeah, sort of like a raver I suppose. Hyperactive and whatnot. I think an Out-There clique would work well. A group of kids didn't really fit into any of the cliques so they mold into their own clique. ;D
trampledsneakers
9th Aug 2007, 11:26 PM
Well, since I'm not entirely sure of how to describe them, if you'd write up a quick summary of the clique like I did for the others, I'd be happy to add them as a group. :D

I love Jamison too much to just let him out of this lol But I changed well some things ;)
Name:Jamison Saber
Age/Class:16/Junior
Clique:Preps
After School Activity: Drama Club
Brief History/Personality Description:Jamison lives with his father Dan and his older brother Tyler, since their parents got divorced. He was always known as 'the normal guy' which changed last summer! He spent the holidays with his Mom in California and he met some guys his age there... rich guys! His family was always rich but he never really cared about money or anything but his new friends made him wear the latest fashion, made him style his hair different and before he could even choose he already was one of them! And he kinda liked it! Back home everyone seemed to accept it and he really loves his new lifestyle!
Anything else you might want to add:nothing so far

He's reall laid back and cool most of times but when he's moody he can be the biggest b*tch ever. Next to surfing he likes almost every sport.

And Beautiful, that'd be fine! You're allowed a max of two characters, so he could be your second. Just add his app to Jamison's on the same post to conserve space. :] Thanks for checking!

After School Activity: Drama Club
Brief History/Personality Description: I came to this school whenever I had just moved from another state. I didn't know anyone, but some of the popular girls picked me up. They could tell that I was (obviously) adorable, and had a nack for fashion. Later, they found that I was at school for the academics, not for boys and lip gloss. Then they dropped me. They spread nasty rumors, they didn't even make sense. It was kind of stupid though, the whole thing. I can't believe I had been munipulated like that. So I got over them and started out fresh in the Drama Club, hoping to meet new people. I noticed many people that had been in my advanced english/literature course, and began talking to more and more people like me. I guess the dark makeup and clothes just kind of grew on me, as well as some new friends. I've come along way in that club. My freshmen year I painted sets, and this year I know I'm destined for the lead role.
Anything else you might want to add: I guess you could say I'm generally a nice person. I don't smoke or do drugs, and I think cuss-ers are distasteful. I could probably make it without my friends, but it's a lot better with them. Besides drama, I'm also kind of a computer geek and like all that jazz. I've been a vegetarian since 3rd grade, and like to protest against animal cruelty. Oh, and my dead-celebrity lover is Shakesphere. :P

Anything Else you want to add: Essa loves cats, dislikes dogs. Enjoys simulation games that involve think and is struggling with his sexuality. He also has a habit of over dramatizing things.

For clubs/afterschool activities I have another couple suggestions:
-Band
-Yearbook
-ALFA or BETA club (for all a's or all b's)
-Computer Club
-Library/Office Aid (not really afterschool, but we have these at my school and they just come to the library or office during study hall and help out)
-Sports
-Student Council

Mmm, all good suggestions Panda, but everyone only joins one club, and if we had all of those, there would only be one or two people in each club. xD
So maybe pick one or two of those and we can add them? Yearbook and Sports seem good to me.

Lol, yeah you're probably right. But there's a band at every highschool. And what will the nerds do afterschool?
trampledsneakers

Not everyone in band is a nerd! :P haha, but that's true... it's a stereotype. But they could always write for the school paper. After all, the nerds are really the Achievers. They'd like expressing their brilliant opinions, hm? Either way.
Maybe Sports and Band instead then?
Pandaness

I know, just the stereotype lol.
Sports and Band would be good, I think. ^^ Because the kids in my school paper were kind of achiever-preppy. But you have to have sports, or else the cheerleaders will have nothing to cheer about ;)

Name
Rachael Harbour // Prefers to be called Rach
Age/Class
16/Junior
Clique
Skateboarders/Surfers
After School Activity
Art Club
Brief History
Rachael has always been into skateboarding after constantly seeing her older brother practice and enters several different competitions. For Rachael's 10th birthday her brother presented her with her first ever skateboard, it took her a few months to finally get the hang of skating; for the past 6 years she's been learning tricks while her brother has been busy at college. Her parents are frequently busy so she usually gets the house to herself for most of the day, she usually spends that time skateboarding.
Due to her father getting a job offer 20 miles away from where they had lived, they had to move, which meant Rachael had to move schools, not that she cared anyway, as long as she got to skate she was relatively happy; but it was a shame to move away knowing that she might never see her old friends again.
Personality
Rachael is a very laid back person, she's quite outgoing and tends to be cocky towards most of the teachers at school. She doesn't like Preps or Jocks, and literally refuses to be friendly with them as she knows what they're like, students that aren't sucked into those Cliques are welcome to talk to Rachael and become friends with her.
Anything else you might want to add
Rachael has a secret passion for art, in her bedroom there are piles of her paintings and equipment. She paints portraits and still life, it's one of her ways, apart from skateboarding, that calms her down after what she thinks as a 'pointless' day at school.

Name: Maria Chase
Age/Class: 16/Junior
Clique: Normies
After School Activity: Art Club
Brief History/ Personality Description: Maria is seen as very shy, though once she gets to know you, she is extremely friendly and talkative. It just takes a while for her to warm up.
She is the only-child in her family, and the daughter of a retired military general. The family had travelled around throughout Maria's childhood, and in her 11 years of education, she has attended 10 different schools. When her father retired from the military, the family finally decided to choose a place and settle down. Thus, Maria entered Brooklake High... (she is a transfer student)
Anything else you might want to add: There isn't much that Maria is scared of--fear isn't something her father allows. If anything, Maria is scared of her father showing up at school and embarassing her. He is extremely protective and overbearing, which often makes relationships difficult for Marie.

Name: Galen Atkins
Age/Class: 16/Junior
Clique: Jocks
After School Activity: Football
Brief History/ Personality Description: Galen is the youngest of six, raised in a dysfunctional family. His mother left the family three years ago, and his father is an alcoholic who can't hold a job. His older siblings have all left the house, and seem to have forgotten about Galen and their father entirely. Galen is often responsible for finding a way to make ends meet and either picking his father up from the corner bar or helping him into bed after he comes stumbling through the door. Galen started playing sports and poured every ounce of his effort into the games once his mother left, knowing that his only hope of escaping his current situation, is to obtain a full-ride scholarship based on sports. Galen recently transferred to Brooklake High School after hearing that college recruiters were paying extra attention to the school's football team.
Anything else you might want to add: Although at first glance Galen appears to be a typical jock, he's anything but. He's rather smart, though he hides behind a mask of stupidity to better fit in with the typical jocks. Just as he isn't the typical meathead, he isn't the typical skirt-chaser either. Of course he's had his share of girl friends, but he actually finds it quite sickening that girls throw themselves at him just because he plays football. He'd much rather find some friends...and maybe even a girlfriend...who didn't care about how many touchdowns he made, and instead cared about the guy beneath the helmet.

Name: Delainee Rose Meryl
Age/Class: 16/Junior
Clique: Oddballs
After School Activity: Drama
Brief History: Delainee Rose and her brother grew up in Las Vegas with their doped up father and nearly insane mother, who worked long hours at a rather trying job. While they led a somewhat pitiful existence for much of their lives, things got better once their mother chased their dad out of their home with a butcher knife. However, this brought the government to question the safety of the twins in their mother’s care and promptly shipped them off to live with their Great Aunt Rika who cut hair near what she called ‘a perfectly wonderful school’. Now they attend Brooklake High, much to the chagrin of its students.
Other: Delainee Rose is ADHD something awful, to the point where people walk up to her to ask if she takes drugs. Because of her inability to sit still and her severe motor-mouth, she’s hard to handle and has been pegged with the infamous title of ’That Annoying Twat’. Oh--and don’t call her Delainee. It’s Delainee Rose. Always. | She also likes to dance, and changes her look up every day with help from Great Aunt Rika and her hairstyling expertise. Though, she prefers to wear Harajuku style clothing with blinding prints.

[Myyy how lovely. <33 I didn’t think anyone would want to be an oddball. xD]
Name: Daniel Claesse Meryl
Age/Class: 16/Junior
Clique: Oddballs
After School Activity: Art Club
Brief History: Daniel has always been sort of a father figure to Delainee. His first word was ‘no’, and it was pointedly directed at Delainee who was threatening to jab her finger into an electrical socket. Daniel has a strong sense of right and wrong, and if you go against his wishes it confuses and infuriates him. Therefore, he despised both of his parents, who were the epitome of everything he stood against. When they were taken away, Daniel was quite pleased to be moving in with their eccentric but kindly Great Aunt Rika, who taught him to relieve stress through painting.
Other: Daniel has OCD, a gripping problem that he can’t get past. Because of this, every feature about him has to be perfect and he tends to collect useless objects. Aside from this, and his fatherly ways towards Delainee, Daniel is very outgoing and fun-loving, an almost exact replica of his sister, changing his look to fit what he feels is 'perfection' for the day.

Cherry, yer not spamming. Least not in my book. >_> We're talking about things relating to the RP, so there. :P What's really special about your characters is that even if they're not people you'd normally see in real life, you still manage to make them seem completely believable! It's not at all a stretch to imagine them walking down the hallways, so that's a real talent. :] And thanks for the compliment on Lila! She's just a real sweet-heart. And I enjoyed the J.D./Lila conversations too, but since they're in a mini-fight, who knows when they'll talk again? xD

Name: Nemo Shumpert
Age/Class: 16/Junior
Clique: Oddballs
After School Activity: Art Club
Brief History/Personality Description:
Nemo has never really "fit in". At an early age, his parents would worry about him and his future. Though he produced stable grades, he would often place PopRocks in water in a bowl and put them in front of the door to "ward of evil spirits". His parents were constantly fighting, and Nemo got the worse of both of them. He learned to live independently and hide his bad emotions as well he could from everyone. Then his father moved out, back to Greece. With all his money. "Luckily", his mother remarried a rich business man, and she was able to support him. His stepfather was kind and would buy him whatever he wished, but spoiling him ruined him. He would never except him as his real father. He still keeps in touch with his Grecian dad, and every summer he'll visit his villa, asking him to move back. But he never will
Not finding compassion in people, his step father bought him a Womrat, that Nemo lovingly named "Figaro." He loves him as much (if not more) than some people. If the teacher allows it, he likes to sit above the class, whether it be on a desk, table, or filing cabinet. Sometimes he enjoys talking to plants, although he believes that the ficus is a little stuck up. Classmates used to laugh about his short stories on ninjas that befriended puffins, and how cuttlefish would have an awkward time shopping with their friends (because they are cannibals). Sometimes he also contemplates the psychology of balloon animals. Now, most of the students are just scared of him, and avoid him at all costs.
Anything else you might want to add: Nemo talks to everyone in 3rd person except for his friends. It's sort of like a right-of-passage. Nemo enjoys photographing random objects arranged to look like fruit. He also claims he has a promising career in stop-animation with MegaBlox and those dragon ones. That, or male modeling.

Age/Class: 16/junior
Clique: Skaterboarder/surfer
After School Activity: Drama Club
Brief History:
First thing one will earn about Kendra, shes a devoted skater. Her dad was a skateboarder, and naturally Kendra followed, starting at the age of four. Now she is good, very good. She hopes to be pro someday. She's a new student at Brookelake, having moved from a different state after her mom got a new job.
Kendra's quite outgoing, when shes not slumping around in class depressed about being in school. Shes generally very nice, but can have somewhat of a mean streak if its toward someone she personally doesnt like much, though shes quite good about giving people a chance. When interacting, shes sometimes a bit random and is no doubt overly sarcastic.
Anything else you might want to add:
Kendra fears spiders, greatly. Shes fine with any other creepy crawler but spiders, she hates them. She also hates ferris wheels for some weird reason, they freak her out and she refuses to ride them. But other than that, theres nothing else she fears. Kendra's a daredevil, and will do anything if given the right amount of money as a bribe.

Brief History/Personality Description:
Iris isn't a loud girl by any means. To many, that is exactly what makes her strange. Well...that and her closet full of plaid. Iris was born to her single mother after her father left for a younger woman and her son. This took a toll on little Iris, who therefore began to see a pyschiatrist at the age of 9. She learned to accept everything how it is, and stopped seeing her psychiatrist at the age of 14. Her brother isn't a good support system at all, but her mother is her very good friend, possibly her best friend, and this also makes other students look at her in confusion. She enjoys alphabetical order, and counting sheep before falling asleep. She loves poetry and is not too fond of dinosaurs or other reptiles. She likes jokes and sneakers.
Anything else you might want to add:
Iris is pretty, but her odd colored eyes set her apart from the crowd. Also, the plaid confuses many. She has a brother who is a senior,(his name is Steve) but he doesn't talk to her. He's a jock and a bully. Iris' hair always stays blonde, as she feels it makes her fit in more than, say, blue hair (which she almost had once).

Gerbear, sorry 'bout that! The slots for the Oddballs just filled up so quickly, so I had to cut them off or else there would be no one in the other cliques. However, if you were originally making a nerd, they would be far more similar to the achievers than the oddballs. >_> The achievers basically ARE nerds, but they call themselves Achievers. Everyone else views them as nerds. They work hard, study hard, and have pretty much all the nerdy qualities. Oddballs are just friggin weird. xD So why not just take a slot as an Achiever?
Glad to see so many people taking interest in this!! Once we get the cliques a little more evened out, we'll get started. :D

Once we get 3/4 members in the other cliques too, you can probably get a spot in the Oddballs. But if not, you could make her an Achiever, but an odd Achiever, you know? Not everyone in the cliques PERFECTLY fits their description. I just hope you'll RP with us!! :luff:
Oh! And I just remembered-- typically, not everyone who makes an application actually stays with the RP (I mean, look at HS:ATR, we had more apps than we knew what to do with, but in the end it was only like five of us left!) so you'll never know if spots will open or not. Girl, Sylvia has the first period. So you might want to start thinking up a fun game or assignment for everyone to do. Keep in mind, when we start, school has already been going on for a month or two-- it's almost Halloween. Just things to consider. :]

Brief History/Personality Description: Natalia's mother moved from Russia and married he father, a rich business man, before she was born. Her mother was a supermodel, notorious for being snooty and, well, quite mean. Natalia is following in her footsteps. She likes to think she's better than most people. They recently moved from the city to (whats this town's name?) here, due to her fathers health conditions. The maids say his wife and daughter broke him and his health with their ways.
Anything else you might want to add:Although she doesn't usually tell people, Natalia is generally a straight-A(and B+) student.

The schedule is going to seem a little weird, but I think you'll get used to it. We're only going to RP through two real classes a day because I think sending us to school gets really boring. xD (At least, that was one of the problems with HS:ATR.) So once I post the schedule, you'll see what I mean. I just needed to know who had first period because that's where all the students will be going first. We'll worry about the other classes later. :]

Name: Elsye
Age/Class: automatically 16/Junior
Clique: Normie
After School Activity: Band
Brief History/Personality Description: Elsye is painfully shy. She will talk if people approach her, but she rarely talks to people who do not speak to her first. Elsye's mother was a cheerleader in high school and does not understand her daughter's shyness. She often pushes Elsye into social situations in attempt to "cure" her daughter's shyness. People often assume Elsye is smart just because she is so quiet. While she does get decent grades, Elyse does not fall in the achiever/nerd category.

You're welcome to apply! All the kids from HS:AtR are guaranteed slots as long as they were relatively active. You can apply, as long as you'll stay active once you get back. I'm going to be pretty strict on people not participating--one of the rules is that you have to post at least once a week. As long as you post on thursday or friday, you should be fine. You might miss a bit, but I'm sure you could catch up. I'm not sure when I'm scheduling the Halloween Ball for, but it's sometime next week. :/ That might be the only thing you miss.
Just edit your post with Elyse's app and I'll add her to the list. :]

Brief History/Personality Description: My name is Sophie and I've lived with my mom my whole life. Sometimes I understand why my dad took of when I was two. My mom can never settle its always bigger and better with her. Nothing seems to satisfy her. The one thing I like about my mom is she usually doesn't really care what I do. Other adults things she irresponsible but being a teenager I take full advantage of this. I love the water, swimming is my favorite thing to do. You can just separate yourself from the world just floating weightless. I can usually be found at the beach surfing, swimming or just laying out in the sun.

Name: Eeric Kinsley
Age/Class: 16/Junior
Clique: Goths
After School Activity: Band
Brief History/Personality Description:
Eeric is not loud, and he is not emotional. He is not a hurricane of rage and teen angst. No, far from it, actually. Just because he has tattoos, a lip-ring, and wears dark clothing, that does not mean that he is like every other whiny teenage 'emo-kid' who will try to dress like him. Eeric is mellow (almost apathetic) and composed, and his dry wit and sarcastic sense of humor give him an odd charm. Although he has the typical pale skin (ivory, or porcelain, thank you very much!) and dark hair of your average goth, he does not try to be out there and 'different' from everyone else. On the contrary, he couldn't care less about the differences between people. If you're a goth and you piss him off, he will treat you with the same amount of anger as he would if you were a prep.
Eeric was an only child, the son of two loving, supportive parents. So no, you won't hear any of those "I-hate-my-parents" diatribes coming from him. That's why his choice of 'alternative dress and accessories' was never selected as a means of rebellion: he dresses as he does simply because it is a style that appeals to him. He loves his family, and was raised by a high moral standard. So while he may bend the rules and come across as a bit rough around the edges, he's really a decent guy deep down.
Anything else you might want to add:
He's a closet classical music junkie. Trained in the classics from age three, he can play piano, violin, and cello. Although he is gifted in these instruments, he rarely mentions such talents-- instead, he only speaks of his guitar. He's also a whiz with accents.

She is sick of anything mainstream and likes to float outside of the boundaries while still holding her place in the normal crowd. Preps make her want to barf and the Skater's apathetic nature makes her want to rip her hair out. Age: 46
Class taught: Music
Sponsor of: Band
Brief History/Personality Description: Nicholas entered the United States when he was 4 years old, originally from Greece. He was taught in the American schools and slowly but surely learned English and adopted a New York accent. He was always the quiet boy who spent his lunches in the band room, practicing three different instruments. Once he graduated high school, he earned half a scholarship in musical arts at Harvord, but was forced to decline because he wasn't able to pay the other half of tuition. Determined to succeed, he worked as a bartender at a club until he had earned enough to go to college, which he finally attended three years later. He now has a Masters in teaching and music. He's the quiet sort of guy. He has no wife, as he has never had the time to really socialize. He thinks of his students as his children, and treats them with great respect and care. His love for music is unmeasurable - math has always been a bit of a sensitive spot for him. He despises math, and uses as little numbers and math terms in his classroom as possible. He runs the School Band with a calm, fatherly control - he is kind but can discipline when necessary.
Anything else you might want to add: Nicholas has dark, Greek skin and his black curly hair is gradually greying. His eyes are brownish hazel and he has a fairly toned body for a middle-aged man.

Brief History/Personality Description: Anybody with a TV set can tell Chad's personality instantly. Jock, handsome, buff, one of the so-called "kings" of the school, just a stereotypical jock with a smile that can make a girl go weak at the knees. Speaking of girls, he wouldn't be seen dead without a gorgeous one dripping off his arm and, lets face it, he'd 'done' most of the cheerleading squad within his first week at the school.
Anything else you might want to add: Call him a player, you'll be flat on your back so fast, but secretly Chad loves it. The attention, the girls, especially the girls! Being a player has got him everything he's ever wanted from the day he learned to walk: he's looking for that girl to tame him!

Cherry- Er, yeah. We do have lots of rich kids going here, apparently. o_o; Well, Brooklake is still a public school, so it's not uber-nice. However, it isn't rundown like the school in the other thread. Especially now that we have actual professors, the administration is far more involved in running the school and keeping it in shape. Essentially, as far as public schools go, it's on the nicer side. LadyAshe had it set in Massachusetts, so I kept that sort of in mind. I'm basically thinking the New England area of the U.S. (We're starting in Autumn, so think lots of big red-gold trees. :] )
Remy- Is there any way I could convince you to make Tia an Achiever? I ask this in part because there are only 3 Achievers and you would be the 5th Normie. But on top of that, if Tia really wants to make a difference, she sounds more like an Achiever. They're the ones who work hard and have a strong moral/work ethic. The normies are just your average high schoolers who try to blend in. Let me know. :]
Sesshomaru- You can only choose one after school activity. So let me know which one you want. :]
Gerbera- I don't think that I can add Sophia as an Oddball. That would be 6 people in one clique while there are still cliques with only two or one people in them. If an oddball drops out, however, you'll be the first to get their spot. Sorry. :/
Hamsterball- Hmmm, I would have preferred that it be a sim (just to keep the continuity, as everyone else has a sim) but if it's a hassle to change it, don't worry about it. But the bigger problem is that we already have an English teacher. You'll need to select another subject to teach. Just edit your app and I'll update the front page.
StyleQueen- Chad's got to be a Junior. Unless he wants to be in a bunch of classes by himself... xD
I'll post the lead post very soon!! Just putting it all together right now.

There’s a chilly breeze sifting through the air outside. The copper and crimson hued trees lining the pathways of Brooklake High School have become the indicators that autumn is quickly creeping upon us, and with it comes the prankster’s most cherished and revered holiday: Halloween. As everyone begins to bundle up on their way to school, the administration at Brooklake is working overtime to plan a series of events to keep their students occupied. The ever-popular Halloween Ball is fast on the approach.
The Halloween Ball
Not your average school dance. The annual Halloween Ball is a chance for everyone in the school to become someone else for one night; be it a knight, a ghost, a princess, a witch, or whatever their mind can concoct, a plethora of oddly-dressed students will fill the unrecognizable gym to dance long into the night. There will be a costume contest with several categories to recognize the students who really went all out! This dance will be chaperoned by your professors, however, so don’t try to get too risqué—or else you might find yourself in a heap of trouble.
(You will be informed of the day it will be taking place soon :) )
Current Weather
The sky is somewhat dark, leaving a mild haze throughout the day. The sun occasionally peaks through the clouds to lighten up the sky, but this is rare. It's starting to cool down, so be sure to wear warm clothes. The current temperature is around 68 degrees Fahrenheit.

((Start off by arriving at school and making your way to Ms. Summer's class. Keep in mind that it's toward the end of October, so you've been in school for almost two months. Those of you who were members of HS:AtR, assume that you know the people you met there, and the events that happened in the days we RP'd in that thread were occurring a day or so before today. New members! You can act as if you still don't know many people, as it has only been a month. However, you DO know everyone's names. By a month or so in, you should. If you have any questions, feel free to ask away. Once you get to class, wait for Ms. Summers to take over.))

I felt the cool air around me as I walked down the path to school. Above my head, the sky was dark and cloudy, it looked like it was about to rain. I looked over at the trees, noticing the change in color since school began. Halloween was coming up soon, and the school dance was on his way. I sighed at the thought, wishing Halloween would pass as quickly as it came. I was never someone who liked dressing up and getting candy, saying "Happy Halloween!" every time someone opened the door. I usually just sat inside and ignored the kids that came asking for loads of candy. I'm not against Halloween or anything, I just don't find anything exciting in it.
Knocking the thought out of my head, I arrived at the school, looking at everyone as they passed by. I arrived at Ms. Summers room, as I took a seat in the middle of the room. I layed my things out on the desk, putting my backpack down on the floor beside me. I wondered what we could be doing. English wasn't something I loved--at all. Even though I loved writing, I didn't really like talking about important people and literature. I slumped in my seat, waiting for the others to show up.

Rachael trotted through the long roads towards the place she saw no point in going to, Brooklake High School. Today was just another day that would limit the amount of time Rachael could skate, the weather was quite dark; as it was nearly every morning Rachael would walk to school, except that the gloomy clouds look like they were about to be rinsed and rain would empty from them. It was halloween afterall, where little children ran around, knocking on doors wanting sweets, Rachael didn't mind them at all, but it was those idiotic people who annoyed her; the ones who would come around and force you to give them most of the candy you had.
A yawn escaped from Rachael's mouth as she carried on walking, now only a few minutes away from the school. The annoying voices of the teachers would soon flood Rachael's ears, so she tried to make the most of the sounds she was hearing now and prepared for the screeching of several teachers she didn't like.
Rachael was now in the corridors of the High School, walking towards the most boring lesson anyone could dream of, well, that was what Rachael thought, anyway. Voices of other Students surrounded the hallways, Rachael smiled at a few she knew and couldn't help but scowl at the preps and jocks as she passed by. Opening the door to her class, Rachael walked in and sat at one of the desks somewhere in the middle of the class, she dropped her back in between her feet and started tapping the desk quietly, waiting for other students to flood in.

Here it is. Not too sure what I was even doing, I reached out and opened the door, stepping in to find only a couple students. Figures, everyone else is all off hanging with friends. I dont have friends here. Yet, anyway.
I stuffed my hands into my jacket pockets, making my way to a desk and sitting down.

Maria awoke with a start to the sound of her alarm clock ringing in her ears. She groaned as she rolled over and hit the snooze button, burying her head under the covers again. Suddenly the door to her room burst open.
"Maria Louise Chase! What are you doing still in bed? It's oh-seven-hundred hours, missy. You should be up and dressed by now!" the General's cadence burst through Maria's sleep as he yanked the covers off the bed, leaving Maria shivering in the cool air.
Maria shot out of bed as her father retreated out of the room, closing the door behind him to allow her to dress. She threw on her favorite long-sleeved green shirt and a pair of jeans before dashing to the bathroom to brush her teeth, and running a brush through her hair. She grabbed her makeup bag off the counter--she'd have to do her makeup in the car. Running from the bathroom and down the stairs to the small foyer, she found her father waiting, her backpack in his hand as he contemplated which keys to grab off the small table by the door. Maria pulled her shoes on and groaned as her father decided on a key.
"Daddy, please, can't we take Mom's car?" Maria whined. The General had managed to purchase an Army-issued Hummer when he had retired, and he enjoyed taking Maria to school in the horrid thing. He claimed he was simply more comfortable in that vehicle after 30 years of driving around in one, but Maria was sure he enjoyed dropping her off in that thing to try to intimidate the other students. A warning that Maria Chase's father was a military man, and not one to be taken lightly.
The General didn't argue this morning though, simply shrugging instead and picking up the key to the family sedan. The drive to school was short, and soon Maria was climbing out of the car, her forest green backpack in hand. Her father waved as she slammed the car door, before speeding off and leaving Maria standing on the sidewalk, staring up at the brick building. She sighed and slung her backpack on her shoulders, walking into the building with her head down and her blond hair falling into her eyes.
Maria came into the classroom, noticing that despite her late awakening, she was still one of only a few that had arrived. She chose a seat in the middle of the classroom--not in the back where it would look like she was eager to leave, but not in the front where it would look like she was eager to stay either. This was how Maria lived her life at these schools. Somewhere in the middle, where she was most likely to not be seen.

Georgina hopped out of her dark green car, pressing the button on her keys to lock it. She tossed the keys into her bag and shrugged it onto her shoulders. She was actually in a decent mood today, the paper had been going well and her father had just returned from a trip to London where he had been guest lecturing at a University. She brushed some fluff off of the striped sweater he had brought her back as a present and started walking to class.
When she got to class, she went and sat down at her usual seat in the front row, pulling out her glasses and putting them on. She then pulled out a slightly worn copy of Macbeth and started thumbing through it.

"Are you guys ready for the ball?" She asked glancing at the students.

((That's fine Alexis. I'm a big believer in the more detail, the more interesting. :] ))
Eeric squinted through one amethyst eye. Judging by the time blinking angrily at him on his alarm clock, it was time for him to get moving. Groaning as he pulled himself out of bed, he gazed at his pallid reflection in the mirror. The dark bags that circled his purply-blue eyes oddly had no look of sickliness; on the contrary, it almost looked as if he had intended them to be there.
Tugging on a pair of black pinstripe paints and a plain black shirt, he pulled his long ebony tresses back into a low pony-tail. With a nod of approval, he grabbed his leather messenger bag and slung it over his shoulder, heading out the door with a piece of toast tucked into his lips. "Bye mum," he mumbled through the bread as he bounded out the door. Lucky for him, his house was only a few minutes walk from the school.
Once he was on school property he took another bite of his toast, enjoying the cool breeze sweeping his loose locks of hair out of his eyes. Recognizing a few familiar faces on his way to English class, he would nod to acknowledge them. Finding the door labelled, "Ms. Summers: Junior English", he pushed it open and ambled inside, lowering his head to Ms. Summers with a grin through his toast. "Teach," he said in greeting, moseying to the back of the room. Once finding a seat that seemed comfortable to him, Eeric slumped into it and finished off his toast, reclining with his hands cradling his head.
He heard Ms. Summers say something.
"Ball?" he murmured curiously, shifting in his seat.

It was way too early to be up. At least in Leigh's opinion. And to be on her way to school was just... Urgh.
But she didn't really have anything else to do, nor anywhere else to go. Having stayed at a friend's house over night, she'd had to leave when her friend, Julie, did. Julie's mother had made damn sure they both got up, and had then driven them to school. And since there was no better place to hang out this early in the morning, Leigh had decided she might just as well stay. But she was far from thrilled about it.
First stopping for a quick smoke behind the school, the two girls then split up, each going in her own direction. Julie was a year older, and so they weren't in the same class. It was a pity really. If they had, class wouldn't be half as boring.
Shoving the door open, as if to announce to each and everyone there that this was not how she'd wanted to spend her morning, Leigh continued to a desk in the back and sat down, not making eye contact with anyone. It was almost like she was pretending they weren't even there. Crossing her arms she sank deeper into her seat, and blew a few strands of hair out of her face. She then began staring out the window, already showing signs of utter and complete boredom.

"Bye mom, love ya." Sophie yelled as she got out of her moms blue Buick and headed up the stairs of the school.
She stopped at the top and opened her big blue jean tote bag and pulled out a piece of gum. She popped it in her mouth and opened the doors and walked down the corridor towards Ms. Summers room. She arrived at the door and walked inside seeing some other students she smiled and figured she must be in the right place.
Heading towards the back of the room she pulled out her ipod and sat down in the desk closest to the window. Placing her bag on the floor she put her head down on her desk and drifted off to sleep.

"Yes, hun, the halloween ball. Didn't they make an announcment about it a few weeks ago? I'm setting up a comittee to help out, and everyones welcome,"
Eeric quirked a brow at the word 'hun'. It actually made a chuckle rumble from his lips. For some reason, anyone calling him hun just seemed a little out of the ordinary. But hey, he would take whatever terms of endearment people would give him.
"Mm, dunno. They probably did. I don't pay much attention to those things..." he trailed off, letting his eyes close. Before he could get much rest, however, a loud noise came from nearby. Apparently, Leigh, at least he thought that was her name, was having a bad morning. Staring at her for a moment until she began staring harshly out the window, he returned his gaze to Ms. Summers.
"I'm not much of a dance person." He shrugged his broad shoulder and smiled charmingly, as if this would be his excuse for not attending a school function.

"I'm not much of a dance person."
Silvya smiled knowingly at these words. She heard this excuse many times in her teaching.
"You don't have to dance, you just can show up, besides, there's a costume contest and the winner gets a trophy and two days worth out of any class you like. So if you win, you don't have to come to one period you don't like for two days."

Galen woke up before his alarm clock sounded, stretching his arms high over his head while he swung his feet onto the cold wood floor of his room. Standing, he stepped over the many piles of dirty clothes that littered his floor and made his way to his dresser, pulling his clothes for the day out from the drawers. Walking to the door directly across from his room, he threw the clothes on the bathroom counter and started the shower. As he waited for the water to warm, he left the bathroom and poked his head into the living room. His father was still passed out on the tattered old couch, bottles and beer cans littering the floor and covering the coffee table. Galen sighed and grabbed a garbage bag from the kitchen as he started to gather up the trash left over from his father's nightly ritual of drinking. Once most of the cans and bottles were taken care of, Galen returned to the bathroom and slipped beneath the rush of warm water.
Dressed with backpack in hand, Galen nudged his father's shoulder in a goodbye, and headed out the door, making sure to lock the door behind him. Wouldn't want some thief to come steal the few possessions they owned while his father was incapacitated. Galen shivered against the cool breeze that blew across the small, untended front yard, and shoved his hands into the pockets of his pants. The walk to school was always the worst. Galen didn't live in a good part of town...heck, he didn't even know if there were any other kids at school that lived in the ghetto he called home. He had to walk through a pretty rough part of town to reach his destination, and it wasn't uncommon to see the junkies between buildings shooting something into their veins, or to have the guys on the corner try to sell you any number of substances. Galen simply walked, hands in pockets, and eyes diverted, hoping no one would approach him.
Once Galen finally reached the school, he let out a sigh of relief. At least here, food was guaranteed at lunch time and he didn't have a drunken father he had to worry about, or vomit to clean up. Here, he could be someone completely different. A star football player. Someone who had it all. That was the mask he was wore, and he wore it well. Straightening his posture, Galen put a smile on his face as he strode confidently through the halls. Slapping the hands of friends as he passed, winking at the girls that giggled as he passed...life at Brooklake High was good.
Galen reached first period English class, and entered with his normal show of confidence. "Hey Ms. S, you're lookin' good today," he grinned as he slid into a seat towards the back of the class.

-click click click- The blinker on Tia's worn down '92 Toyota signaled her turn to school. With one swift movement of foot on the accelerator and hands turning the wheel, she was in. Even after going to school at Brookdale for a month, she still wasn't used to rolling up to perfectly trimmed grass and large university-like brick walls. It seemed too good to be true.
"Ahh!" Tia screamed, slamming her foot on the break pedal. Two girls from her English class absently walked their pink-and-pearl bodies right in front of her car. "God. Someone please give these preppy effing skanks a mind and do the world a great load of good!" Tia fumed. As the girls she recognized to be Natalia and Izabelle flitted along, Tia pulled into what had become "her spot" to park.
--
Before stepping into the English room of Ms. Summers, Tia made sure her hair was free of fly aways and her breath was smelling fresh. After everything was perfectly accounted for, she opened the door to hear Ms. Summers voice talking about the upcoming school dance. The words "school dance" ruminated over her head like a floating cloud of doom. Tia hated dances. Not only could she not dance, but she had this sinking feeling that she would end up dateless, just like every other time the school hosted a dance. Muttering words of disdain towards no one in particular, Tia took her seat in the front row, eager to hear what they would be discussing in class today.

Jamison Saber jumped out of his car and looked at his cellphone, 4 new text messages and 2 missed calls! But that wasn't what he wanted to read! He just wanted to check the time, there were a few minutes to go. "I'm good..." he said quietly to his self and looked around.
It wasn't long until Halloween and he always happened to like that time of the year, with all the golden leafes and fresh but chilly air.
He took a look into his side mirror and then walked into the school building.
Some girls giggled and whispered behind his back but he just went straight to Ms. Summers class.
As he stepped into the door,he saw Ms. Summers talking to the other students and went to his table. "Morning..." he mumbled and pulled out his cellphone to read his new messages.

Ms. Summers sat at her desk in the classroom, Rachael looked up for a split second before focusing her eyes on the table she was picking at, shuffles of paper were heard in the classroom and the teacher finally spoke. "Are you guys ready for the ball?" Rachael lifted her head and shrugged, Eeric had already replied to what Ms. Summers said, "Ball?" he said curiously, this ball was also news to Rachael, due to her lack of attention in most classes; this was probably the first thing in a while at her time being at this school that she took interest upon.
"You don't have to dance, you just can show up, besides, there's a costume contest and the winner gets a trophy and two days worth out of any class you like. Rachael's ears perked up, two days out of any class, for once in a long time she actually began to like what she heard coming from a teacher. Rachael smiled at the thought of getting out of class, she glanced at some of her classmates with the smile still spread across her lips.

I sighed deeply, finding myself staring at the tissue box on Ms. Summers desk for some odd reason. I groaned, bored, and leaned over digging my hands into my bag, pulling out a stick of gum and popped it in my mouth.
I leaned back in my chair, my hands once again in my jacket pockets, my eyes closed as I once again thought of why the hell couldnt I just stay at my old school, where my life was. I hated my school there too, but now Im missing it.
Its just not fair.
Suddenly, a loud bang echoed through the room. I jumped, nearly falling out of my seat. What...the hell. I straightened up, looking to see a dark haired girl stride into the room and toward the back. What is she going and slamming doors open for anyway? I thought, slouching back down and propping my feet up on the chair in front of me, now listening to the exchange between some other student, who was clad all in black, and the teacher.
Halloween ball. Im not much of a dancing person either, but two days off seemed quite inviting. I smiled inwardly, reminding myself to think about considering it as more students filtered in.

"How lovely," Lila whispered as she stepped outside into the cool air, brushing her chestnut hair over her shoulder. A pleased smile spread across her lips and she sucked in a breath of the chilly oxygen, feeling it inflate her lungs. The sting of it's crispness felt refreshing. There was nothing like the feel of fresh air.
She pulled her wool jacket closer to her body. Her petite frame didn't provide much heat to begin with, so she would have to insulate whatever she could. Lila rubbed her hands together and breathed into them, hoping that it would warm them out of the numbness they felt. As she strode along the path to school she eyed the archaic buildings with sullen eyes. She was tired, and she didn't want to be at school. It was too early.
Entering the school she waved to those she recognized, smiled meekly at those she didn't. She quickly found her way to Ms. Summers room and entered quietly, taking a seat near the window as she always did. The seats at the back behind her were already filled, so she had to settle for the middle of the room.
The sight of the vast array of colors captivated her gaze. The varying hues of red; crimson, scarlet, fire, blood. The yellows, golds, oranges. It seemed like the trees were on fire.
"How lovely," she repeated, this time in a whisper and only to herself.

Maria was doodling on the cover of her notebook when Ms. Summers mentioned a Halloween Ball. She looked up, briefly stopping her doodling, before returning her gaze back to the notebook. A school dance. And everyone would dress up.
"It sounds like a lot of fun," Maria thought. "No one will invite me though, and I'm sure not showing up by myself so I can sit in a corner and watch while everyone else has fun with their friends and boyfriends..." Maria sighed heavily and put her head down on her desk.

Suddenly I heard the door slam hard, and watched as Leigh sat down in a seat in the back of the classroom. To be honest, I was slightly afraid of Leigh. I had never met her personally, but she just seemed so...scary. I felt like if I talked to her and said something she didn't like I would end up with my face mushed inside my locker. I turned my attention away from that thought, trying to think about something else.
"You don't have to dance, you just can show up, besides, there's a costume contest and the winner gets a trophy and two days worth out of any class you like. So if you win, you don't have to come to one period you don't like for two days," Ms. Summers said. I hadn't really paid attention to the conversation between Eeric and Ms. Summers, but hearing that last sentence suddenly caught my attention
I would love to get out of any class I wanted for two days. Suddenly I realized that this Halloween ball may not be so bad after all. I was debating whether or not I should go, but I was definitley sure I was going to go now. Even though I probably won't have anyone to go with, I'm aiming towards the prize, so I wouldn't even matter to me.
My thoughts shifted as I began to think about what costume I was going to wear. It needed to be good, and not something simple. I would need to stand out from all the rest. "Hey Ms. S, you're lookin' good today," Galen said, sitting in the back of the class. I rolled my eyes, my attention turning away from the ball. He so annoying, I thought. I have nothing against jocks, I mean, they were pretty stupid from what I've heard. But they're really good at sports, I mean, at least they're commited to something. I sighed and began to continue thinking of ideas on what to do.
"Morning," Jamison mumbled as he took out his cellphone. Preps, weren't the nicest people around, they were fashionable, but looked down to others often. I've had my fair share of them. I looked around wishing that I could take out my I-Pod and listen to music. I could never do it though, I was usually the one who was caught, unlike the other hundreds of people who did the same thing.
Lila had entered the classroom and I gave her a slight wave, wondering whether she noticed it or not. I then came back to the Halloween ball, and began writing down idea's.

Nathan's alarm had just gone off. It was so early the sun was just starting to peek above the tall tree covered mountains that lay way over in the fresh country side.
"Ugh. Why do I have to get up at this un-godly hour," he muttered to himself.
He plopped out of his bed and put on his normal everyday attire, after taking a nice hot shower, eating fluffy pancakes and brushing his teeth. He then did his mp of hair and was out the door.
He walked down the depressing grey and craked sidwalk that matched the morning sky, the sun was gone.
"Just another day," he muttered to himself. As he walked into the school he went to his orange locker and took out his few things for English.
He walked inside and went into Ms. Summers class. He found a seat near the middle, a little closer to the back and sat down. He set his bag on the old rsuty wood chair that was soon going to break, just like all of the others. Hopefully someone would say hi.

Iris Scott awoke to the sounds of birds chirping in a flowery garden--her alarm clock, of course. She hopped out of bed and walked quietly to her bathroom, where she showered and dressed in one of her wonderful plaid clothing ensembles. Today it was a navy and emerald green hued jumper dress with a pair of lime green converse, and a black quarter sleeve turtleneck. She blow-dried her hair and tied it half-back with a black ribbon. Observing her face in the mirror, she smiled. She absolutely loved her clear complextion, almost as much as sneakers and plaid!
She grabbed her green jansport corduroy backpack(with buttons on it) and a purple jacket (with buttons on the collar) and caught the bus just in time. On the bus ride there, Iris took out a small purple notebook, and decided to write a poem:
Flowery abyss
sunshine rays
happiness
and rainy days
Eh, it was a work in progress. But it did remind her of happy things, and warm weather. Iris was the first off of the bus (she always tried to sit in the front seat of the bus) and walked to her locker with a small, shy smile. She obtained her books and put them in her backpack as she walked into her english class.
And she bumped into an attractive boy. Awesome.

With only a few minutes to spare before the bell rang, J.D. pulled into the parking lot, parking his old and, quite honestly, shabby car in an empty spot. Like always, he didn't feel like being there, and would much rather be at home, still in bed. But knowing how his mother would otherwise find an excuse to start vacuuming his room this early in the morning, he'd eventually crawled out of bed. His body had been aching from the fist fight he'd managed to get himself into the night before, but it was worth it. All the anger and frustration that had built up in him during the day, he'd gotten out of his system. Although that didn't mean he was in a cheerful mood. He never was. There was a part of him that was always angry, no matter what he did.
Stepping out of the car, he could feel that his left shoulder was still hurting. The guy he'd fought had managed quite a few punches, but luckily, none of them had been in the face. Unlike J.D.'s right hook. That one had left a nasty split lip on the other guy's face. That was what you got when provoking J.D.
After locking his car, J.D. lit up a cigarette on his way to the main entrance, but just before he entered, he flicked it away and let what was left of the smoke in his lungs filter out through his nose. Just like "good little boy".
The thought made him smirk.
About a minute later, he entered the class room. Hesitating only for a moment, he shot a look over at a certain someone, before striding down to the back and stopping by the desk next to his friend Leigh's, staring down at the unfortunate student already sitting there. That was all he did. Still, his eyes spoke volumes, and within seconds the student had gotten the message. Panicked she grabbed all her stuff from the desk and scurried off to another, allowing J.D. to slump into the now empty seat.

After all, she was what was known as an 'oddball' and if anything was embarassing, bumping into someone was just enough ammo for some preppy girls.
She turned around quickly, and walked very quickly to her desk. To her slight uneasiness, Bradin decided to take a seat near her. “Delainee Rose, you are just the cutest girl to ever live!” it was Great Aunt Rika who appeared over the slumbering Delainee, whose mouth was thrown open wide and drool slopped over like an overflowing dam. Rika’s hand placed tenderly against her cheek as she cooed. The young blonde’s eyes creaked open to reveal a sterling silver. Delainee rose and blinked, confused. What time was it? The sky outside was a murky gray, and the texture reminded her of thick gravy. She glanced at her clock, and frowned. 7:02 AM.
Great Aunt Rika purred as she bustled about the room, placing clothes back into the enormous closet and arranging a rather messy pile of makeup, “You know, your brother has been up for two hours now. He’s such a good boy. So charming. He painted me a lovely picture of a…well…I don’t know what it is exactly. Since he’s into that abstract art, but it’s beautiful simply--oh DELAINEE ROSE! Look at this exquisite flower I picked in the garden the other day, my~ isn’t it lovely? Beautiful? Gorgeous?” the woman placed the strange little red flower to her nose and began to twirl about the room. “It’s as if it’s the symbol of everything that is fall! It tells us--today, you should dress in vibrant colors and change! Change into something filled with a unique nature and beauty like the changing of the leaves of autumn!” she thrust the flower into the air and placed her hand to her heart, her eyes shut as she sighed.
Delainee blinked again, but gave a thick saccharine smile. The morning routine then ensued, she rose from the bed, brushed her teeth and her hair, applied a thin layer of makeup and a thick batch of eyeliner, and fled back into her room to slide in front of her closet, where she slopped on a random array of mismatched clothes. It was then that she skipped into the kitchen, where Daniel sat awaiting her, two Poptarts in his hands.
“Come on, Del,” Daniel grinned, his silver eyes that reflected Delainee’s own glittering in the sunlight. “We’ve got to get going. We want to be there early, right?” So, the two left the house munching on the Poptarts as they went.
First period was English with Ms. Summers. Delainee Rose and Daniel entered, and their enthusiasm seemed to emanate from like an aura from them. Delainee spotted Iris and squealed, plopping into the open seat that another lad hadn’t filled. In turn, Daniel sat behind Delainee. He bit his lip in distaste upon noting that the desk was askew, in fact, the entire line of desks was off. The red-haired boy fidgeted in his desk and chewed on his index fingernail, scooting it as best as he could in order to at least obtain a bit of symmetry.
Meanwhile, Delainee beamed at Iris, her chin cupped in her hand, “Hey Iris~” she chimed, knowing that that day would be a great day. She could feel it in her bones.

Sophie awoke to the class room nearly full. As she looked around she spotted some people from the looks of the attire she would get along with. Pulling her head phones from her ears she turned of her ipod and pulled her tote into her lap.
Taking out her sidekick , that her ex bought her, she looked through some texts from some friends back at home. While reading her texts Sophie overheard some students talking about a Halloween Dance. Sophie thought this would be a great idea to meet some new friends but wasn't sure who would actually go to a school function. I mean no one likes to be here during the day why come back at night?
Putting her sidekick away Sophie grabbed her notebook out of her bag and started to doodle with her favorite pen. Thought shes not very good at drawing its something that she does when shes bored. She looked up from her drawing of a little kitten and saw that J.D had made sure he had his seat. Sophie hoped that he wouldn't be taking that aggressiveness out on her because shes pretty much happy person all the time and drama and fights are not her thing.
Glancing at the teacher she sensed that this could possibly be a nice teacher, maybe one that didn't wake her from her lovely naps or one who didn't yell at her for not doing all of her assignments. I mean sometimes just laying out reading a book is more exciting than sitting at a computer writing a paper about some old dead writer.Going back to her drawing she wondered when is this class going to start.

It has been a few months since Essa and his family have set foot on American shores, and even though they struggled at first, they fell in line with the American way of life. Things were looking good. Essa fitted in well with the rest of the student body, his father was promoted and now works as the head of the Kuwaiti Embassy in America. His mother was able to open up a clothing store and it was booming, and his favorite aunt was enjoying her job as a teacher in Brooklake High that she was staying for the whole year!
The alarm began shaking and ringing, but Essa was already awake as usual. He was dressed, groomed and had all his school stuff ready near the living room door.
His mother called out to him. “Honey, breakfast is ready!”
“Coming mother.” He checked himself up in the mirror; everything was as it should be. He smiled to himself.
Downstairs his mother, father, sister were getting ready to eat. “Where’s my aunt?” He asked.
“Oh she’s just going to get some things then coming back.” His mother looked at him. “Don’t worry you won’t be late.”
They ate in silence, enjoying the sounds of autumn. The hum of a car punctured the peace, and it was followed by the sound of a door opening. “I’m back!”
“That’s her! Bye mom, dad, sis.” He leaped from the chair and ran towards the door.
“Have a good day at school dear!” his mother called out after him.
“You’re late.” Essa said to his aunt
Amused by the statement his aunt replied “Well duh. I am a Kuwaiti. We need to get you back to normal. You’re getting too Americanized.” She playfully swatted his head. “Let’s move!”
~Few minutes later~
The car stopped in the teacher’s reserved parking space. Essa and his aunt stepped out and began walking towards the large public building.
“Okay Essa. Go to class before the bell rings. If you’re late I’m noting going to help you out. I already did that three times this month.”
“Good luck with first class. Give them Hell.” He smiled waving at his aunt.
“Well do sweetie!”
Essa walked into English before the bell rang and sat next Georgina. “Morning G,” he eyed the book she was reading. “What happened to the new one I bought you?”
Essa, hoping to cement his friendship with Georgina, had bought her a Shakespeare collective series. The cover was made out of pure leather, the pages of Egyptian papyrus and the writing was golden ink. “Well?” He repeated.

"Poor spoiled pretty boy" he said quietly and rolled his eyes before he started to watch Iris a little, in a way no one would really notice.
Iris blinked a couple times before smiling back and said "Yeah, I'm kind of a klutz", and turned around to see Delainee and raised her eyebrows, both a greeting of hello and a 'did you just see that?!' kind of gesture. She opened her book to the correct page and took out a lime green folder and found her homework. She set all of this neatly on her desk and tapped her polished fingernails on the desk : needless to say, they were painted plaid. Iris pushed a lock of blonde hair behind her small ear and turned to look at her friend, Delainee.
"Hey, Del." She said quietly. "Did you get this class' homework finished?" she asked with a joking smirk. She knew Delainee always did her homework. It was just a little joke among the friends. She then looked at the boy and noticed that he was avoiding her violet gaze. She raised her eyebrows and turned back around, taking out her notebook once again to work on her poetry, this time adding in doodles of sunshine and flowers.

Delainee gave a tiny little nod to Iris's inquiring expression, and then leaned forwards in her desk to get a better look at the young man who had helped her out. It wasn't often someone so fetching from another group dared involve themselves with someone as odd as Iris and the rest of their group. Delainee let out a little giggle and turned back to her books to sort through her stuff.
"Hey, Del," Iris's quiet voice spiraled into her ears, and Delainee knew precisely what the next question would be. "Did you get this class' homework finished?" Delainee cast her a side glance and smirked.
Her next actions startled a few people at her side, as she thrust both arms into the air and yelped, "Oh, yeah you know it!" in a sort of macho-man tone. She then brought her arms back down upon the desk and smacked her head down firmly against its surface, and a girl nearby her looked over with concern. She must have been new, though, because she leaned over and asked another girl if she was mentally challenged. It wasn't a stupid question. Delainee Rose was about as close as they came, sometimes.
Meanwhile, Daniel cleared his throat repeatedly as he adjusted the thing atop his desk neatly. Pencil in the exact center of the pencil holder, binder tucked into the little metal tray beneath the desk, paper at the center of the desk with a black pen on the right side and a red on the left. He sat a fat eraser that looked like a blob of black, gooey snot in the upper right hand corner of the desk and grinned at the organization of his thinking space. However, he was forced to pull out his eraser when he discovered a long, black pencil sketch across the desk.
He listened to Delainee intently as she addressed some boy a few desks over.
"Hey, you boy, what's your name?" she questioned, and she had a bouncy tone in her voice that he recognized. His aggressiveness at tackling the pencil mark faded as the line disappeared, and he returned the eraser to the upper right hand corner again.

Chad revved his motorbike a final time as he pulled into the Brooklake High School parking lot and pulled it to a halt. Turning the keys in the ignition, he took hold of the base of his yellow and red helmet and slid it casually off his head, allowing his shoulder length brown hair to waft in the gentle wind, something he knew the girls would be admiring and talking about later. Chad high fived the other members of the football team and began into the High School, his red bomber jacket loosely fitted around a white tank shirt over his toned stomach as it was pretty cold that day.
Parting ways with his jock mates, Chad flicked the dial on his locker and shoved his book bag inside. As he began towards his first class, he flipped out his cell phone and replied to the early morning texts he had already received. He briefly stopped at the doorway to his first class and took in the students already seated; noticing that none of the cheerleading were there yet so the choice of seating was limited.
“Hey miss,” Chad said, holding out his hand to high five Miss Summers who was seated at the front of the class.
Walking casually to the back of the classroom he dropped into a seat next to a pretty brown haired girl and a spare seat on the other side, just so if anyone else did come in they’d be able to sit next to him. As Miss Summers started the class, Chad noticed Sophie, a blonde girl he’d seen around before doodling in a notebook and took out his own pen.
Hi Sophie babe, you wanna hook up after class – Chad
He scribbled a note on a sheet of paper he tore from his own notebook, and chucked it at Sophie

People were slowly filtering into the class, claiming seats and making small talk. Galen saw Chad, a guy on his football team, enter the room and he nodded in hello before opening up his spiral notebook and flipping to a free page. Taking out his pen, Galen hurriedly scribbled a list of items he'd have to try to pick up at the store after football practice--milk, eggs, bread. All essentials. He quickly tore the sheet of paper from the notebook and folded it up, shoving it in his pants pocket before anyone could see. Slouching in his seat, Galen looked around the room, smiling as he met the the gazes of others.

I heard the chair squeak as someone sat in the seat next to me. I turned my head to see Chad sitting next to me, writing some note and throwing it at Sophie. I rolled my eyes, continuing to write down ideas for the Halloween ball. I wasn't particularly interested in sitting next to Chad, but it would be rude to just get up and walk away--as tempting as it was.
I looked around to see even more people had walked in, some talking, others doing nothing. I scanned the room, hoping to find someone to talk to--I was bored, and I was wondering when classes would start. Sighing I put my chin on my head, finishing up my list.

The alarm rang, Jenny got up quickly and turned it off. She took a shower then put on her favorite red sweater and jeans, straighten her hair with a flat hair iron, then sprayed on a bit too much perfume. Jenny ran down the stairs and into the kitchen, and greeted her mother and father. It was the same as every morning, her mother was making breakfast, and her father was reading the newspaper. Jenny ate breakfast quickly along with a cup of coffee, even though she was already hyper to begin with, coffee only made her even more hyper. She ran back to her room to grab her backpack, then ran back downstairs and grabbed the car keys.
Jenny drove her car into the school parking lot, and almost hit one of the parked cars. After parking her car she ran to the school and up the steps, and tripped. She opened the door to the classroom and walked in. "SCHOOL, WOOHOO!! Don't'cha all LOVE school?!" She yelled, as if she was exited, but she was actually being sarcastic. She sat down at the back of the room and pulled her ipod out of her backpack and turned it on, then sat there, lost in her thoughts, blocking out what was going on.

As Sophie sat scribbling something soft hit her in the head and fell to the floor. She looked up to see Chad, a good looking guy, smiling at her. She pick up the crumpled up piece of paper off the floor and read it.
Hi Sophie babe, you wanna hook up after class – Chad
As Sophie read the note she looked back up at Chad he seemed pretty full of himself but hey you should never be quick to judge. Sophie picked up the pen shed been doodling with and replied.
Hi Chad,
I'm not sure how things work around here but where I'm from hooking up is basically meeting up with someone and making out and then on and then on. And well I'm not up for that but if you want to go out and show me around town and actually get to know me than sure. But let me make this clear I'm not a slut and I will not be your sleazy bimbo that you keep as arm candy. Not to insult you or anything thats just how alot of boys that are similar to you act.
-Sophie.
Than Sophie crumpled up the paper similar to Chad and threw it to him. She studied him for a second. She wasn't sure if she liked what she saw. She really wished she had some more friends so she could get their opinions.
Sophie leaned over and tapped the girl next to here on the shoulder and keeping her voice low so as not to be overheard by Chad or others she asked, "Psst, hey Dana, thats your name right? What do you think of the kid Chad? Is he one of those use her lose her kinda guys? Oh and my names Sophie, Sophie Herman I transfered here from California."

Daniel let out a yelp. Well, actually, it was more than a yelp. It was more like a quiet scream. Some idiot bumped into his desk, where he'd been stacking erasers neatly across his desk to pass the time. Each one had been meticulously aligned into stacks with no more than three erasers per stack, and those towers had been set into an almost pathetically neat line. Now, they were all across the floor, some thumping to a stop, others rolling dangerously far away. All thanks to the fool who'd barged through without even offering up an apology.
He wrung his hands nervously then, eyeing the rubber bits with an anxious nature. Should he pick them up? Should he leave him there? Before he could make a move, Delainee was in the floor, scooping them up for him. He smiled in thanks, slightly embarrassed.
Delainee returned to her desk then, and bounced up and down there. She wanted to get up and move around, or converse with someone about...well...anything. The guy she'd talked to had proved to be about as amusing as eating broccoli was tasty. Not very. Bored out of her mind, she reached up and began to play with the hair of the boy in front of her.

Chad sat back and re-read the piece of paper that had just been thrown back to him. It certainly wasn't what he'd expected as a reply, but at the same time something about her reluctancy to "hook up" with him was oddly alluring. He didn't think any girl at that school would say no to a request like the one he'd sent her, but a really pretty girl just had, and he loved it. All guys liked a challenge after all. As Sophie and Dana moved to talk to each other, Chad scribbled down another reply, this time thinking about the words he was going to write.

I looked back at him, shaking my head a little. "I personally wouldn't go out with him, but that's just my opinion," I whispered back. "I guess you could give it a shot." I shrugged, not sure what she should do. I hadn't really gone out with anybody since I left my old school, so I was just as confused as she is.

Izabel
Waking up at 7 o'clock, Izabel was known to take forever to get ready. On dates it took her hours to get ready and she would be extremely picky. Izabel was the type of girl that would put on ten outfits and wouldn't be happy with an outfit until she tried on the fifty sixth one. Clad in a black mini-skirt with white polka dots and a pink tanktop that barely covered her chest, Izabel's walked out of her large mansian house with her white Abercrombie tote in hand. Entering her red corvette, Izabel pressed the pedal with her her black stilletoes and got to the school just in time.
Passing through the halls, boys whistled, girls greeted her, and teachers stopped dead in her tracks, criticizing her outfit silently. Sure it was definitely risque but Izabel got away with these types of outfits every single day and it was no big deal if you saw her practically naked.
Grabbing her books from the locker, Izabel examined herself in the mirror and applied some lipgloss. Looking gorgeous like always, she entered her English class taught by Ms. Summers. "Hey Chad!" Izabel said with a pout as she sat down, putting her tote to the ground. Chad was the kind of guy Izabel liked. Stupid and hot.

Chad smiled mischievously as Izabel sat down next to him, a pout across her pretty pink colored lips. He let out a low whistle when he saw her outfit, and his smile became even bigger. Izabel was one of the hottest girls in the school, and one that Chad had yet to date; although it was certainly on the agenda.
“Hey babe,” Chad retorted, watching out of the corner of his eye as Sophie unfolded his latest message, “looking hot as always. And what flavor is your lipgloss today? Do I need to guess or are you going to let me have a taste?”

Dainty fingers were becoming intertwined in his silken hair. That was odd. Letting his head relax and roll back, his amethyst eyes gazed upwards into the eyes of the girl behind him. Eeric was completely passive, not at all phased by her actions. In fact, it almost had a soothing affect over him.
"Want to braid it?" he said, his deep voice seemed to smooth out the air around it. "At least until class starts."

A small laugh escaped Izabel's lips as she heard Chad. Yes she was easy but not that easy. She was more tease than a slut who would make out with anybody except that changed when she was drunk. You see, Izabel wasn't the one to handle alcohol very well. After a couple of drinks, she could be seen making out with some guy.
"Chad!" Izabel replied with a smile, her cheeks blushing, "you know I'm not THAT easy." She lightly pushed his shoulder in a joking manner. "Cause if I was, you would've already got it."
Izabel was used to guys hitting on her, she was hot, or so the boys said. She loved the attention, she loved having everybody's eyes on her and she loved making girls jealous. It seemed like she was perfect and had everything and truth be told, she really did.

Much to Delainee's surprise, the dark boy leaned his head back, and his raven hair spilled out before her. She was captivated by its beauty, how well kept up it was. The only other guy she'd seen with such glossy hair was Daniel, and that was only because he was obsessively clean. She trailed her fingers through it, and was once again startled when he spoke.
"Want to braid it?" the boy questioned in a rich voice. "At least until class starts."
Delainee Rose beamed, and then chimed, "Sure!" For a moment she sat silently, her energy and thoughts channeled into the task of neatly dividing the silken darkness into three equal sections. But, Delainee Rose wasn't one to sit quiet for long, and she commented in a chipper tone, "You know, I swear I've seen you around but I have no idea what your name is. I mean, I don't know who half the people in this room are... I'm terrible with names. You can tell me someone's name twenty million times and I just can't remember. I mean, if I talk with them a good amount of course I remember, but like...if you're trying to describe someone odds are I will have no idea who you're talking about. Like the other day Danniboy was trying to tell me about this girl he thought was pretty, and turns out she's been in all my classes every year... or something like that. Still don't know who she is. But..um..what was my point, again...oh! Yeah, what's your name?"

By the time all of the students had come in, they started chattering and sending messages to each other. Rachael was a bit too shy to even spark up a conversation with anyone, seeing as pretty much all of them seemed busy in their own conversations. Rachael sighed and cupped her chin with her hands in boredem, she wished she had the courage to go up to someone and speak to them; or something. But it didn't happen.

As more and more students kept flooding in through the doors, Leigh's attention was constantly being dragged back to the class room and the people in it. Some just slunk in without too much of a commotion, but then there were others who made a grand entrance, almost as if they were expecting people to applaud simply because they had decided to show up. Leigh despised people like that; students who thought they ruled the school.
Still, it gave her great satisfaction to think that those very students would be running head first into a brick wall when having to deal with the harsh life after high school. Life as an adult wasn't merciful. At least Leigh didn't think so.
Momentarily scanning the class room, her eyes sweeping over all the different faces and characters, she noticed some of her class mates had already started their day with their top priority; flirting. Chad, aka 'God's gift to women' according to himself, was already busy eyeing one girl, while passing a note back and forth with another one. Enter Izabel, and he had yet another one to drool over.
Leigh rolled her eyes. What a creep.
Next to her, J.D. was slumped over his desk, seeming extremely busy with trying to fall asleep. Leigh smirked. Why wasn't she surprised?
Because she knew J.D., that's why.
Letting her eyes roam the room once more, with the intention of then continue to stare out the window, she noticed that a few of the students were occasionally glancing over at her. There was nothing wrong or weird about that, as it was a natural thing to do, but this morning, it simply rubbed Leigh the wrong way.
"What're you lookin' at?" she sneered the next time a class mate looked over at her, her voice in itself sounding almost lethal with venom.

Something about the girl reminded him of a young child. Eyes wide and bright, expression almost a perpetual look of glee. Even her voice had the youthful effervescence of a child.
"Sure!" she chirped merrily, proceeding to section off his hair and rattle off a mini-monologue leading up to the question of his name. All along he listened intently, fingers interlacing and settled on his stomach. A soft and gravelly chuckle rumbled his abdomen when she finished speaking.
"Eeric. Two E's. Most people forget the second one," Eeric nonchalantly said with a shrug. "I'm not very good with names myself, but if I'm not mistaken, you're Delainee Rose?"

While walking back to her desk she smiled at Chad who had given her a quizzical look and sat back into her seat.
Grabbing her tote off the floor she placed it into her lap and started digging around for a ponytail. After a few minutes of searching she found one wrapped around some nail polish. "Wow I really need to clean this thing out" thought to herself while pulling her hair back into a pony letting her bangs still hang.

((Since Girl didn't get a chance to post the assignment, essentially, your student has to select a favorite poem and read it aloud to the class. You have a book of poetry with you, so you'll have the first part of class to chose, and then present. :] This task should be completed by tomorrow so we can move on. Any questions, let me know.))

Jenny's ipod ran out of power, and now she didn't have anything to do. She glanced around the classroom, she noticed some people were already making friends, and passing around notes. She wrote on 4 pieces of paper, 'I'm so bored I could beat myself up. I'm the girl in the red sweater, talk to me or something like that, or don't...I don't care.' then crumpled them up and threw them at random people, while giggling at what she did. She then started drawing random things on paper, while waiting to see how people would react. She enjoyed doing strange things to find out how others would respond, even though she knew she was annoying most of the time.

J.D. was just about to drift off to sleep, when something small and white landed on his arm. Dazed, and looking pretty much as if he had just stumbled out of bed, he lifted his head from his arms to see what it was.
A note? Just who the heck would be sending him a note? Hadn't they seen that he was trying to get some sleep?
Squinting in the sudden and bright light, he looked around for whoever it could've been, but saw no one. Everyone seemed busy with their own thing.
Shrugging slightly he gripped the small piece of paper and unfolded it:
'I'm so bored I could beat myself up. I'm the girl in the red sweater, talk to me or something like that, or don't... I don't care.'
Again J.D. lifted his head to look around, this time for "the girl in the red sweater". There she was, sitting in the row infront of him and to the right. Though at the moment she seemed to manage just fine with occupying herself.
And wasn't she the one that had entered, yelling something about "school, woohoo"? If so, this was the second time she interrupted him in his stubborn attempts to doze off.
"Five minutes of peace is all I need...", he muttered to himself, but still reached for his pen to scribble down a reply:
'Okay; Hi. NOW can I get some sleep?'
It wasn't the most friendly answer, but considering J.D. didn't have a friendly bone in his body most of the time, it could've been alot worse.
He returned the note to it's folded state, and threw it back at Jenny. While waiting for her to open it, hiz gaze began to wander, and once again it ended up on Lila.
During the few minutes he had been there, she hadn't looked over once. She hadn't even looked up when he entered the class room. It was as if she was ignoring him on purpose.
The thought made him scowl to himself. So that was the way it was going to be, huh? Alright then, he decided, briefly clenching his jaws. Fine by him.

Most of the class was present, which meant the lesson was bound to officially begin soon. Maria looked up from her doodling to see cursive writing on the blackboard. Ms. Summers must have written the assignment for the day when she ended her talk about the Halloween Ball. Maria hadn't noticed, as she'd been too preoccupied with her senseless doodling and daydreams of actually getting invited to the dance. "Not likely," she sighed under her breath.
Glancing around the room from behind her bangs (which had a habit of falling into her eyes), she noticed plenty of the more conspicuous students. A football player, seemingly off in his own world as he smiled and nodded at everyone around him (Galen); another football player (Chad) pathetically trying to woo the pretty girls; a couple of the troublemakers at the back of the room, one trying to sleep (JD) and his girlfriend, or ex-girlfriend, or something sneering at someone nearby (Leigh).
Then Maria's gaze fell on the peculiar trio--Iris, who actually seemed quite normal with the exception of her love for plaid; Daniel who was a bit compulsive about his things being in a very particular order and was busy making sure things were to his liking; and Delainee Rose. Delainee Rose was a bit odd, but her behavior always did bring a smile to Maria's face. How could it not? She always seemed so cheerful. In fact, she was currently talking in a sing-song voice while she braided some boys hair!
Maria's jaw dropped as she looked at that odd scene. The boy whose hair Delainee Rose was braiding was handsome--in a dark, goth kind of way--and he certainly didn't seem like someone who would allow his hair to be braided (Eeric). Maria looked away with a blush. She'd been staring at them, and only hoped they hadn't noticed.
"You can't judge a book by its cover," Maria whispered to herself before pulling the compilation of poetry from her bag and flipping through the pages.

Nemo peeked in at his precious womrat, Figaro. Looking cute and cuddly as always (much like himself) he poked a finger through his metal bars and patted his small fuzzy head. Nemo thought today was going to be a good day.
Walking over to the mirror to examine his appearance, he patted his fuzzy head to smooth down some of his now trademarked cowlicks. His big brown eyes were a glow in the mirror, and his face was free of acne like it always had been. He hoped that maybe this year he would make some new friends. Smiling, thinking of his bestest friend Delainee Rose, he grabbed his doodled-over napsack, along with a frozen waffle and headed off for his 2 mile walk to school.
He nearly sprinted there with that waffle thawing in his mouth. He had the odd feeling that his schedule would be wrong and he would have to sit in the office with that damn ficus while the dull receptionist would "figure it out" in about 15 minutes. New quarter and a frozen waffle made a icy feeling through his body. Or perhaps it was the chilly weather? He considered turning back and grabbing a poncho and a bowl of oatmeal. But he had a mission, and that was to get to school and meet some new people.
By the time he got to the office, he was panting. The office was kind of upset with him because he was already late, and had taken off the first two months of school to stay with his Papa in Greece. That was considered an excused absence, right? No matter, they had his schedule waiting for him. With calculus first period. He noticed just as he was walking out of the godforsaken place, and on one heel he spun to face the pudgy-faced woman again. "There must be a mistake, Nemo isn't taking calculus until next year. Change it, please," He asked the lady. She sighed, taking it quickly from his hands and rotated her fat body on the chair to face her computer. Nemo knew it would be a while until she finished, so he figured he explore around the office to see what changed. Still those hideous patchwork frog plushies glaring at you wherever you went. Still those stupid inspirational phrase posters on the wall, like, "Make this an A day!" ect. Still all the "awards" hanging that Nemo somewhat doubted. Still the demonic office workers that-"Here you are, Nemo. Looks like you've got Ms. Summers English today first period," She gave back to him squinting through her jeweled spectacles. Nemo grabbed it and tried to get out of there quickly.
He wasn't in such a good mood anymore. He had taken Ms. Summers class last year and it was nothing short of a drag. She didn't even have and interesting plants to talk to, and they had assigned seating. Sure, she was nice and all, but so average. Finally reaching the door, he slowly twisted the brass knob and poked his little head through. "Is this Ms. Summers english?" He got a couple half-hearted nods, so her proceeded into her room. Scoping the room out for Delainee Rose, and the familiar sights he was used to. To his demise, she was braiding a rather attractive boy's hair that Nemo didn't know. For some reason this made him slightly jealous.
Walking in, he showed his schedule to Ms. Summers and explained his tardiness, and absence. She didn't seem to mind and he plopped down in a seat next to Delainee Rose. Still braiding. Had she forgotten to notice him? How could she forget? Destined to be noticed, he leaned over and hugged her. Due to poor design of desks, he, unfortunately, toppled over her.

((I'm going to wait to respond with Eeric until Cherry gets a chance. Delainee Rose is so popular! xD ))
Lila had been thoroughly engrossed in staring out the window. She was quite satisfied with keeping to herself for the time being, as the few students she had seen enter did not appear to be the types of people who would approach her, nor were they the kind of people she would approach. Izabel, Queen of th Universe, for example. As much as Lila told herself that the blonde girl sickened her, she couldn't help but feel intimidated by her. There was a presence that was overwhelming. Lila couldn't help but feel that if she were forced to stand beside her, she would melt into a puddle and seep through the cracks in the floor beneath her.
A desk jerked behind her as someone slumped into it. For a moment, she felt eyes upon her. That sensation was becoming oddly familiar. She kept her emerald eyes glued to the bark of a nearby oak, as if carving the grooves into it with her eyes. The feeling subsided and she relaxed, slumping forward into her desk. "I wonder if it was him..." she thought silently, wrinkling her nose and drawing in a breath, wondering about the eyes that had been focused at her.
"Class, please complete the assignment I've written on the board. You have half the period to select your poem, and in the second half, you'll read it aloud to the class and explain your choice!" Ms. Summers spoke loudly and warmly to the class, directing their attention to the board.
Lila cracked her Poetry book open and skimmed through it's pages, searching through a few of her favorites, but all the while her mind wandered. She hadn't seen him come into class. Maybe she had missed him when she had been staring out the window? But he hadn't said anything to him. Glancing at the seat next to her, she cringed when she realized it was still vacant.
"What do I have, cooties or something?" she muttered softly, groaning in a low tone.
On a whim, she let her eyes drift across the classroom. So many familiar faces. There was Delainee Rose, Nemo, Eeric, Daniel. What a group that was. Then there was Chad, Iris, Izabel, Sophia. More eclectic, preppy, beautiful. Her eyes finished on J.D. and some beautiful girl with dark hair. Wait. Who was that? Lee? Leigh? Lila turned back in her chair with her brows furrowed. Why had it surprised her to see him sitting there with another student; a girl, in particular? It wasn't as if he didn't have his own friends. Lila brought a hand to her temple and sighed deeply, searching the pages for a proper poem.

Lori sat in her desk, secluded from everyone else in the room. She had been admiring a boy from afar, her thoughts completely drowning out the voice of the teacher. Her cheek was laying in her pale hand as she saw Eeric laying on the charm with Delainee Rose. She frowned as she began braiding his hair and chatting up a storm. Stupid, Stupid. Lori had a paticular distaste to people who talked to much, and listened to little. She had been told last year that she had a medical problem, but these days she figured everyone did. The classroom was full of the same, boring, people that she had known since she was an embryo. Except for Eeric, he looked like he had a little bit more going on then he was letting people know. Lori always seemed to admired people she didn't know, and then whenever she got to know them, she wondered why she wanted to in the first place. But she thought he might be different. Too bad by the looks of Delainee's unintentional flirt, Lori would be going to the Halloween ball alone this year. Again.
Finally noticing some of the other people outside her direct view, they were all getting out there poetry journals, some kids were murmuring how they hated presentations. Crap, crap, crap. Hating presentations herself, she was going to pick a very, very, extremely short poem. Maybe even a haiku. She had even bookmarked some in case of this situation, just proving how nerdy she really was. Vigorously flipping through the untidy pages, she finally found the one she was looking for.
Thanksgiving is in the tears
that burst like ripe grapes.
Proclaiming, see you next year,
we wave, begin to panic.
With these tears, the further we go
the tighter we are entwined.
We hold onto each others image,
hold each other way-deep
as the bus pulls us apart,
stretching our gratitude for miles.

"You wanna hang out after class?" Chad asked Izabel, his attention fized firmly on her backside.
"Depends-" She said with a teasing tone, "what do you have in mind? Cause you know, I DO have other things. Unless of course, you can convince me that what you want to do is more fun." Flipping her blonde her back, Izabel gave a flirty smile before paying attention to the teacher. Surely Chad and her were going to pass notes all throughout class.
As the teacher explained the assignment, Izabel grabbed the poetry book out of her bag. You'd be surprised that she reads if you'd judge by her common sense. You could say Izabel was a dumb blonde. A horribly popular, slutty, dumb blonde. Yes. That's it.

[Wow, really Panda? xD What a coincidence!]
After that sporadic tangent, Delainee had expected the dark young man to say something like--shutup, you stupid twat, or anything along those lines really. So, when he began to chuckle at what she was saying, Delainee stopped a bit in surprise. Her surprise deepened into shock when he continued along with a kind tone, politely informing her that his name was Eeric with two E's. She was taken off guard to find he was one of the few that knew to call her by her complete name. Wow.
"Wow! You know not to call me Delainee?" she grinned and looped a lock of sable hair over the central mass. "Usually people are ignorant and just ignore me when I say that I like Delainee Rose better. I hate people like that. They're the kind you want to ram a bat up their ass. I mean I understand, perfectly, if they've never been in a class with me or ever seen me around, but you know, I make it pretty clear at the first of the year that I like Delainee Rose. Not Delainee. My friends can call me Del, of course, but it's just not Delai-"
Suddenly, a loud clatter sounded throughout the room, and Delainee jumped to her feet with a loud shriek at the noise. When she saw who it was, she squealed again.
"Oh! Nemo! Nemo, are you alright, dear?" she chewed on her nail and hopped over the side of the desk in order to help out her poor friend, who she'd failed to notice enter the room. "I'm sorry, I was...I'm sorry." She helped her friend escape the wreckage and propped the desk back up, sighing. Delainee glanced back over to Eeric, who she provided an apologetic smile, and hopped back into her seat.
"Nemo, I thought you were in Greece? You're back already?" it was Daniel who spoke then, and Delainee cast a glance back at him to discover he was, once again, stacking up his erasers.

"No worries. Glad to see you again. Hope I didn't bruise you, or anything." He looked at the boy who she had previously been fratenizing with, destined to know his name. "I think Nemo's been in a class with you before, but he didn't catch you're name," Holding out his hand to the boy, he added, "I'm Nemo Shumpert! My name in latin means 'nothing' or 'nobody'! Pleasure to meet you!"
He recognized the voice of the boy seated farther along in the row spoke as he organized his erasers. "Nemo, I thought you were in Greece? You're back already?" Taking his hand back, he hoped over his desk and faced his friend Daniel. "Mmmhmm. Well, Papa had, 'other' work to attend to and I decided to send myself home early. I already know the airport like the back of my hand anyway!" He looked back at his hand, contemplating how well he actually knew it. Had he really been friends with it so close? I mean, they were attatched, but he had never really gotten to know his hand personally. "Actually, I know the airport more like I know what my name is! That would be more accurate, I do believe!" He said, quickly correcting himself.

OOC: I'll be gone nearly all day tomorrow until late,Georgina will be her usual unsociable self and not talk to anyone until I get back:P
Georgina flipped trough the book for a while, until she found just the poem she was looking for. She then raised her hand and said "I'm ready to read mine M'am".
She stood up, cleared her throat and started to read:
The Guy in the Glass
By Dale Wimbrow
When you get what you want in your struggle for self,
And the world makes you King for a day,
Then go to the mirror and look at yourself,
And see what that guy has to say.
For it isn't your Father, or Mother, or Wife,
Who judgment upon you must pass.
The feller whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the guy staring back from the glass.
He's the feller to please, never mind all the rest,
For he's with you clear up to the end,
And you've passed your most dangerous, difficult test
If the guy in the glass is your friend.
You may be like Jack Horner and "chisel" a plum,
And think you're a wonderful guy,
But the man in the glass says you're only a bum
If you can't look him straight in the eye.
You can fool the whole world down the pathway of years,
And get pats on the back as you pass,
But your final reward will be heartaches and tears
If you've cheated the guy in the glass.
When she finished, she sat back down and shut the book, resuming her reading of Macbeth.

"Class, please complete the assignment I've written on the board. You have half the period to select your poem, and in the second half, you'll read it aloud to the class and explain your choice!"
"Finally," Tia thought, "something to do rather than listen to everyone else socialize." Tia reached down into her PETA and Greenpeace buttoned messenger bag and pulled out a notebook titled "English" and the poetry book the class provided her.
Skimming through pages of poems she probably would never read, Tia couldn't help but feel the overwhelming sense of being totally friendless. Of course, she knew who everyone was, or at least she thought she did. She shot a glance at her left and took in everything she saw. "I could be liked," Tia thought. "I know I could."
With her mind full of ways to get noticed, it was no wonder Tia was oblivious to the tap tapping of a pencil on her shoulder. Finally her nervous system awoke and she automatically turned to the face of the tapper. "Uh... Yes?" she managed to get out..

They must have something in common, as she noticed a PETA button on her backpack, identical to the one on hers that read, "I am not a nugget!" and had an image of a cute little cartoon chick. Lori had a weakness for cute things, and bought it at a convention. Wanting to talk to someone more like her, she tapped on her shoulder with an average, #2 pencil that was required. And tapped somemore. Until Tia finally realized she was trying to get her attention. She quickly turned her head around, and managed to say. "Uh... Yes?" Well, not the most profound of words, but it was a start.
"Hey! I noticed you PETA button, and I have one just like it!" Lori replied pointing to the one on her bag. "I didn't know you were a member! Are you a vegetarian as well?"

Delainee Rose smiled warmly at her precious friend. Even though she hadn't lived there for too long, it felt like she'd known Nemo all of her life. They got along so well, Delainee with her hyperactive, free nature and Nemo with his quirks and his clever stories. They fit together like two peas in a pod. She was the Dory to his Merlin--er...Nemo. All the goofy little songs about friendship kids sang in music class: well, that fit the two of them perfectly. Nemo was introducing himself to Eeric then, and Daniel inquired about his early homecoming. Delainee, of course, had already known that he was coming back that day. They'd spoken on the phone about it a few days ago.
While Nemo explained his return to Daniel, Delainee turned back to Eeric and grinned, "So, what poem are you thinking about? Are you like the others, obsessed with dark poetry?" she laughed a little and clapped her hands together. "Actually, I like some of it myself. But I mean not like the kind--I just mean I like some Edgar Allen Poe, of course a lot of people do. But then again you have your people who just think he was a freak. I don't think he was, really. He was just troubled, and he couldn't help that could he? Isn't that right, Nemo?" she grinned. "But, I really don't want to use him for any poetry I'm going to recite..."
Daniel commented behind her, his feet bouncing against the back of her desk, "I'm going to do 'Where the Sidewalk Ends', I think..."

After reading the note on the board Sophie looked around she say everyone taking out there poem books and searching for a poem to present to the class. Opening up the book Sophie went straight to the index and found what she was looking for. Looking at the page number she thumbed through the book in till she found the page. After skimming over the page and making sure it was the poem she was thinking of she grabbed a post it note and wrote , Emily Dickinson- Because I Could Not Stop For Death, the name of her chosen poem and placed it as a book marker and closed the book.
Sophie thought to herself, if all these assignments are this easy I might actually do them here. She smiled brightly and looked around saw a boy Eeric, whose name she overheard while doodling, getting his hair braided by Delainee. Which was a weird sight and...
Sophie thoughts were cut off by Georgina reciting her poem for the class. Georgina seemed to be one of those who thought of themselves highly an if you got in the way of them and Harvard or some other big ten school the would kill you. Sophie thought this seemed silly because why should anyone be so uptight about things. No ones perfect. Sophie made note to avoid Georgina as she didn't need more people telling her what she should be doing with her life.
Returning to the real world Sophie glanced over at Chad, still making googely eyes with Izabel. She turned to Dana, "So what poem are you going to read?" Sophie inquired.

Natalia awoke with a start to her mother saying, "Darling, you're late! Get up, get up!"
"Oh my god! Why didn't you get me up earlier? Tell Leila to bring my breakfast up here," She threw off her fluffy pink duvet, and sighed. How would she be able to choose the perfect outfit with only two hours to get to school? She went into her spacious walk-in closet and looked around. So many possibilities.
Nearly forty-five minutes later, she emerged from the closet to see a tray beautifully laid out on her newly made bed. I thought I told that stupid maid to put food on the stinking table. She didn't think too highly of Leila, the newest member of Natalia's family's staff. She wore what she thought would make a good impression on this town; something that wasn't too fashionable (they obviously wouldn't be ready for it) but definitely not frumpy or unstylish. Her steel blue trapeze dress hung perfectly on her model-like frame, ending mid-thigh. To keep out the cold she had on a pair of black tights. Her shoes were black oxford lace-up pumps.
Deciding that she was fat enough, she 'accidentally' bumped into the tray of food, shattering the glass vase and spilling her scrambled eggs all over the carpet. She went down the carpeted swirling stairs and grabbed her jacket and leather gloves.
"You'd better clean up the mess in my room by the time I get home," she said to Leila. "Next time listen to me." With that, Natalia walked out the door with her Gucci tote and the keys to her vintage Porshe in hand.
By the time she got to class, she was a good ten to fifteen minutes late. Good thing this was her first day as a transfer student; she planned on taking advantage of it. She walked with leisure to her first class: English with Ms.Summers. Students were looking in poetry books and writing things down. A few were throwing notes around or talking with each other.
"Are you Ms.Summers, please tell me you are," she asked the teacher who obviously was Ms.Summers. She widened her eyes a tiny bit to look a bit naive and bewildered and added an edge of mock worry to her voice. "This is my first day and it's not going very well at all. First, I got a flat tire and now I can not for the life of me find my first class."

“The Raven”
“Edgar Allan Poe”
Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore,
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
`'Tis some visitor,' I muttered, `tapping at my chamber door -
Only this, and nothing more.'
Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December,
And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor.
Eagerly I wished the morrow; - vainly I had sought to borrow
From my books surcease of sorrow - sorrow for the lost Lenore -
For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels named Lenore -
Nameless here for evermore.
And the silken sad uncertain rustling of each purple curtain
Thrilled me - filled me with fantastic terrors never felt before;
So that now, to still the beating of my heart, I stood repeating
`'Tis some visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door -
Some late visitor entreating entrance at my chamber door; -
This it is, and nothing more,'
Presently my soul grew stronger; hesitating then no longer,
`Sir,' said I, `or Madam, truly your forgiveness I implore;
But the fact is I was napping, and so gently you came rapping,
And so faintly you came tapping, tapping at my chamber door,
That I scarce was sure I heard you' - here I opened wide the door; -
Darkness there, and nothing more.
Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing,
Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before
But the silence was unbroken, and the darkness gave no token,
And the only word there spoken was the whispered word, `Lenore!'
This I whispered, and an echo murmured back the word, `Lenore!'
Merely this and nothing more.
Back into the chamber turning, all my soul within me burning,
Soon again I heard a tapping somewhat louder than before.
`Surely,' said I, `surely that is something at my window lattice;
Let me see then, what thereat is, and this mystery explore -
Let my heart be still a moment and this mystery explore; -
'Tis the wind and nothing more!'
Open here I flung the shutter, when, with many a flirt and flutter,
In there stepped a stately raven of the saintly days of yore.
Not the least obeisance made he; not a minute stopped or stayed he;
But, with mien of lord or lady, perched above my chamber door -
Perched upon a bust of Pallas just above my chamber door -
Perched, and sat, and nothing more.
Then this ebony bird beguiling my sad fancy into smiling,
By the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore,
`Though thy crest be shorn and shaven, thou,' I said, `art sure no craven.
Ghastly grim and ancient raven wandering from the nightly shore -
Tell me what thy lordly name is on the Night's Plutonian shore!'
Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'
Much I marvelled this ungainly fowl to hear discourse so plainly,
Though its answer little meaning - little relevancy bore;
For we cannot help agreeing that no living human being
Ever yet was blessed with seeing bird above his chamber door -
Bird or beast above the sculptured bust above his chamber door,
With such name as `Nevermore.'
But the raven, sitting lonely on the placid bust, spoke only,
That one word, as if his soul in that one word he did outpour.
Nothing further then he uttered - not a feather then he fluttered -
Till I scarcely more than muttered `Other friends have flown before -
On the morrow will he leave me, as my hopes have flown before.'
Then the bird said, `Nevermore.'
Startled at the stillness broken by reply so aptly spoken,
`Doubtless,' said I, `what it utters is its only stock and store,
Caught from some unhappy master whom unmerciful disaster
Followed fast and followed faster till his songs one burden bore -
Till the dirges of his hope that melancholy burden bore
Of "Never-nevermore."'
But the raven still beguiling all my sad soul into smiling,
Straight I wheeled a cushioned seat in front of bird and bust and door;
Then, upon the velvet sinking, I betook myself to linking
Fancy unto fancy, thinking what this ominous bird of yore -
What this grim, ungainly, gaunt, and ominous bird of yore
Meant in croaking `Nevermore.'
This I sat engaged in guessing, but no syllable expressing
To the fowl whose fiery eyes now burned into my bosom's core;
This and more I sat divining, with my head at ease reclining
On the cushion's velvet lining that the lamp-light gloated o'er,
But whose velvet violet lining with the lamp-light gloating o'er,
She shall press, ah, nevermore!
Then, methought, the air grew denser, perfumed from an unseen censer
Swung by Seraphim whose foot-falls tinkled on the tufted floor.
`Wretch,' I cried, `thy God hath lent thee - by these angels he has sent thee
Respite - respite and nepenthe from thy memories of Lenore!
Quaff, oh quaff this kind nepenthe, and forget this lost Lenore!'
Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'
`Prophet!' said I, `thing of evil! - prophet still, if bird or devil! -
Whether tempter sent, or whether tempest tossed thee here ashore,
Desolate yet all undaunted, on this desert land enchanted -
On this home by horror haunted - tell me truly, I implore -
Is there - is there balm in Gilead? - tell me - tell me, I implore!'
Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'
`Prophet!' said I, `thing of evil! - prophet still, if bird or devil!
By that Heaven that bends above us - by that God we both adore -
Tell this soul with sorrow laden if, within the distant Aidenn,
It shall clasp a sainted maiden whom the angels named Lenore -
Clasp a rare and radiant maiden, whom the angels named Lenore?'
Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'
`Be that word our sign of parting, bird or fiend!' I shrieked upstarting -
`Get thee back into the tempest and the Night's Plutonian shore!
Leave no black plume as a token of that lie thy soul hath spoken!
Leave my loneliness unbroken! - quit the bust above my door!
Take thy beak from out my heart, and take thy form from off my door!'
Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'
And the raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming,
And the lamp-light o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted - nevermore!

“Alright class, please complete the assignment I've written on the board. You have half the period to select your poem, and in the second half, you'll read it aloud to the class and explain your choice!" Ms. Summers said brightly from the other side of the class.
'Great, work' Rachael thought groggily in her mind, all she had to do was pick a poem and read it out, right? Simple enough, didn't require the use of thousands of brain cells so that was okay. Rachael grabbed a book that provided poems, she scanned through some pages before poking her finger on a random page; finally, Rachael raised a hand so she could get this over and done with. "Ready, Miss" Rachael stood up, held the book in front of her and read out the contents.
My Dreams Are the Sun
By Dawn Michelle
See that golden hue
Burning in the west
My dreams are with that color
My dreams are the sun
The sun always sets
But never seems to rise
That sun carries my dreams
Slowly out of my reach
I watch it slide away
Leaving me behind
The color disappears
My dreams are with that sun
Whenever the sun sets
It rises in another place
A place blessed by that light
My dreams are hidden in that light
At my window seat
I watch the sun take it all away
My dreams are with the sun
My dreams are the sun
Once finished, Rachael closed the book and sat down a couple of seconds afterwards, turning around slightly to see if she could talk to anyone. Which was hard, considering most people were in groups by now.

(((ooc: Awww, no one wants to be the person Leigh's snapping at. :( *LOL*)))
LEIGH
"Class, please complete the assignment I've written on the board."
The teacher's voice cut through Leigh's day dreams of being somewhere, anywhere, but here. Yawning she looked over at the black board, only to find written instructions on it.
Select a poem and read it aloud? Leigh's eyebrows shot up. Was Ms Summers for real? Did she actually expect Leigh to sift through a book that thick in search of something she actually liked? Pfft, Yeah right. The poems in that book were not exactly up Leigh's alley.
Because, contrary to popular belief, Leigh did actually have an interest in poetry. It was only a small one, but there were poems she actually liked. There were even ones that had struck so close to home that she now knew them by heart.
And she'd just thought of the perfect one. It was short, it was dark and it was provocative. The goths would probably already know it, as it tended to float around their particular scene, but it would have to do anyway. And maybe it would be a little over-dramatic, coming from her, but whatever. If nothing else, it would probably shut a few people up, at least for a second or two. And when in this mood, Leigh was willing to accept just the tiniest moment of silence, of not being forced to block out the sound of the preps' and jocks' everlasting flirting and worshipping within their groups.
After most of the students had read their sappy, chosen poems, she raised her hand with a most unenthusiastic expression on her face. The sooner she presented the poem, the sooner she'd be left alone.
Though she absolutely refused to stand. That was so hundred years ago.
Having been given the go-ahead by Ms Summers, she started quoting the short poem while remaining in her seat;
Resume
by Dorothy Parker
Razors pain you;
Rivers are damp;
Acids stain you;
And drugs cause cramp.
Guns aren’t lawful;
Nooses give;
Gas smells awful;
You might as well live.
And with that she was done, and free to once again stare out the window.

J.D.
J.D., on the other hand, had no intention of either selecting a poem, nor reading it. Ever. He simply didn't do poetry.
Besides, listening to the others quoting that sentimental gibberish was torture enough. Really. Some of the poems chosen by his class mates were never-ending, for god's sakes. They just went on, and on, and on, and on... It was almost as if someone was paying these kids per word or something.
Muttering to himself, still slumped over in his desk, he turned his head the other way and closed his eyes to try and block out their voices. But soon his eyes flew open, as he heard Leigh's voice quoting a poem, and he looked up, clearly confused. He hadn't expected her of all people to participate in this nerdy assignment.
But as he heard her words, a smirk darted across his lips and he glanced over at Ms. Summers and the rest of the class. But, just to make sure no one got the brilliant idea to mock her, he narrowed his eyes slightly, making it clear to everyone that if they did, they'd be answering to him. And Leigh.

Tia seemed a little shocked at first that someone was talking to her. Lori herself was a little confused that she was talking to someone else. "Uh.. Yeah! Totally," Tia replied. "I've been a member for about a year now and a vegetarian for as long as I can remember." She grinned. "So.. what do you think about this dance coming up?"
"Well, I'm not really one for dances, but the contest part sounds interesting. And Halloween is my favorite holiday, and I like dressing up. I'll probably go. How about you?" Lori replied, ignoring the teacher. She had already selected her poem, so it wouldn't hurt to chat a little, right?

Delainee turned back to Eeric and grinned, and Nemo did his best to not remove his eyes from them. "So, what poem are you thinking about? Are you like the others, obsessed with dark poetry?" she laughed a little and clapped her hands together. "Actually, I like some of it myself. But I mean not like the kind--I just mean I like some Edgar Allen Poe, of course a lot of people do. But then again you have your people who just think he was a freak. I don't think he was, really. He was just troubled, and he couldn't help that could he? Isn't that right, Nemo?" she grinned. "But, I really don't want to use him for any poetry I'm going to recite..."
"Well I think he was a genious! If he would have gotten help, we would have gotten zippo poems from him! Da Vinci was crazy too! He used to work on cadavers to get a better feel for how to draw the human body. I think that weird people often turn out pretty well in the end and contribute a lot," He beamed back up at her while he was laying his torso ontop of his desk. He laughed a little to himself know that last line was talking about them. It didn't really matter what Eeric thought of him, but to Nemo he kind of looked like trouble. There was nothing he hated more than to see Delainee Rose upset, and her tears would crush him like cinder blocks. It was always a rare occassion to see her cry, she was always really strong and able to handle her emotions. Nemo had been like that for a long time, but these days he would hide it. "But I think I'm going to choose a happy poem like Daniel. Shel Silverstein is quite inspirational, too." Not feeling like talking abouot poetry anymore, he asked, "Soo, are you guys going to the dance? I want to go, and eat a lot of candy. And wear a cute costume, and see the little costume contest. I may even dance a little, although it will probably be bad and I'll just go eat more candy," Nemo said awaiting a response.
[[ When is the Halloween ball? I just wanted to know because, well, I've already taken pictures of Lori and Nemo in their costumes XD ]]

Chad watched confused as Sophie stood up and dropped his note in the bin, not before tearing it up into tiny pieces and then returned to her seat. Unusual, perhaps this nut was harder to crack than he'd expected...still a challenge was something Chad enjoyed, he didn’t like getting the girls too easily. As he was watching Sophie flip pages in a book he heard Izabel talking again, his mouth teasing into a smile at her flirtatious manner,
"Depends-" Izabel said with a teasing tone, battering her heavily made up eyes "what do you have in mind? Cause you know, I DO have other things. Unless of course, you can convince me that what you want to do is more fun."
Chad laughed and raised one eyebrow at her, rather surprised that Izabel wasn’t going to let him get it that easily. Some girls really know how to push his buttons; playing hard to get made him want to chase them, instead of them chasing him.
“What I had in mind…” Chad replied, pretending to think about it, “go hang out on the football field? Maybe I’ll take my shirt off. Maybe I’ll find out what flavor lipgloss your wearing. You know: cherry is my favorite!”
He smiled and moved towards her, using an equally flirtatious tone, “is that enough to convince you?”
Chad grinned to himself as he sat back in his chair, deliberately not making eye contact with Izabel as he scanned the room again. The teacher was just starting the class and an assignment had been scribbled on the board; Chad stared at it nonchalantly, casually reading the words without taking it in. He wasn’t about to do any work. Besides, he had a big game coming up soon and he couldn’t care less about poetry or reciting a poem; that job was for the achievers. Plus there was the Halloween Ball to think about, and who was going to ask him first. As he was thinking about it, Chad wripped a page from his notebook again and scribbled down another note. After a hesitant moment he wripped out another sheet and wrote the same note, passing one to Izabel and one to Sophie

Bradin looked thorugh the poetry book and sighed. "I hate Poems..." he muttered quietly but raised his hand as he finally found something he kinda liked and Ms. Summers nodded.
How the Waters closed above Him
by Emily Dickinson
How the Waters closed above Him
We shall never know --
How He stretched His Anguish to us
That -- is covered too --
Spreads the Pond Her Base of Lilies
Bold above the Boy
Whose unclaimed Hat and Jacket
Sum the History --
He read with a tad of boredom in his voice but well at least he did that assignment.
He watched the other students reading or scribbling. He sighed and wrote a big and bold BORED on the paper in front of him, maybe someone would see it and talk to him or whatever! He just wanted some entertainment.
---------------------------------------------------------
Jamison looked through that book and sighed. "Gosh that all sounds so stupid...but well".
He was rather busy watching all the girls in the room and talking via a messenger to his friends on his Sidekick under the table.
Suddenly one poem caught his attention and he nodded. That was it!
He waited till the student in front of him was done and raised his hand.
"Can I start?". He didn't even waited for an answer and just got up and started.
The Road Not Taken
by Robert Frost
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
Jamison sat down and started to talk to his friends on his sidekick again, hoping Ms. Summers wouldn't recognize what he was doing.
Beside that he went on looking at girl and he came to the conclusion that really all of the girls in this years class looked somewhat hot! Prep, oddball or even achiever. All of them and he really liked that fact.

Iris smiled at Bradin when he read the poem. She turned to Delainee, who was admiring her handiwork on a boy's long dark hair and then turned forward again. She began searching in her book. She then found a poem by Robert Frost that she recognized from 'The Outsiders'. Iris raised her hand and stood up, and read.
Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
She then sat down and pretended to be writing, and snuck a secret look to Bradin, who was reading a poem. Iris looked back at her book and smiled.

Luce awoke, groggily pushing the think duvet off her body, rubbing her tired eyes and rolled over to look at the clock. Startled she looked at it again, it couldn’t be. She rubbed them again as she stumbled out of bed. She was late, again.
“Mum” she called as she pulled on a long black skirt and a crochet jumper that had see better days. “Mum are you up yet?” When she heard no response she headed quickly into the living room.
Her mother was passed out half-dressed on the threadbare coach. Discarded takeaway boxes littered the floor, still brimming with food that had congealed into a sticky brown mass throughout the night. The room stank of beer and sweat and the sweet acrid smell of herbal cigarettes. Biting back the angry tears, she bent down beside her.
“Mum, you’ve got to get up.” She shook her mother roughly hoping to stir her to life. “Mum, come-on please, you promised me if we moved here you’d try.”
As her mother began to stir, she left her side, angrily picking the rubbish off the floor, throwing it furiously into the bin, trying her best to make it look a little more respectable. She would not look at her, refusing to acknowledge the mess she had got herself into again. “Mom, get a shower, I’ll put the water on as I leave. Mr Jefferson said I could help out tidy his garden after school. He said he’d pay me. It’ll help. I’ll be home before you and I’ll make us a nice tea.” She said trying to sound cheerful as she pulled her dark curly hair back into a pony. Kicking the boiler into life she exited the house.
* * * * *
Luce arrived late and feeling completely flustered. She hesitated outside the room as she heard Leigh’s voice. It sounded like she was reciting a poem about suicide. Great she’d come to school to escape not to be reminded of how awful life was. She hesitated outside the door. Retrieving her mirror she smudged thick black lines of eyeliner around her eyes to disguise their puffy redness. Listening as the others recited their poems she waited for a pause then pushed open the door. There was no point in trying to skulk in, she was late, so be it.
The back row was full so she took a seat on the row in front, sliding into the seat like a snake in the grass, trying to make as little noise as possible. Offering no apologies for her lateness, whose business was it anyway? She eyed the blackboard suspiciously. Great find something she actually liked in this book. She started flicking through it, absentmindedly reading the passages as the words swarmed in front of her eyes.
(OCC I call her Luce for short - Lucretia is her formal name)).

"So what poem are you going to read?" Sophie said.
"Probably a nice short one," I replied. "But seeing as there aren't any that I've found yet, I just keep looking." I quietly flipped through my book of poems trying to find a nice short one that I could read aloud to the class. Coming upon one I found a least a bit interesting, yet sadly it wasn't as short as I hoped. Groaning, I raised my hand and walked up to everyone, wanting to do this as quickly as possible.
My True Best Friend
By: Amanda Joyner
My best friend and I
Always seem to fight,
But he's there when I need him,
He talks to me at night.
He's the greatest person
Anyone could ever imagine,
He's kind and funny,
He sends love out like magic.
He always knows
Whenever I'm sad,
Whenever I need to cry
He's there.
Sometimes he's been
The only one who understood,
My best friend's
The only one who would.
Next year he'll be
So very far away,
But next to me
Is how he'll always stay.
'Cause you see that my best friend,
Just happens to be my brother,
And Bubba, no matter what
I'll always love ya.
I read it quickly not caring if anyone heard me or not. I sat back down and closed the book, wanting to go to next period. I took out a sheet of paper and began to doodle, wanting to hear the sound of the bell.

As Sophie thought for a moment she decided to write back to this letter.
Ha ha Mr. charming,
Well I think I might go to the Halloween Ball . I'm not sure yet but I don't really want to get all dressed up. And as for the assignment this is too easy so I'm not necessarily interested but I am going to do it.
Sophie
Wading up the paper and threw it back Sophie had already made up her mind about Chad. She figured he could go wit Izabel and she could pull him along on a string till he got bored because she wont put out and then he'll just go searching again for someone else to fulfill his needs.
Sophie informed Mrs. Summers that she was ready to read her poem and stood up and began to read.
Emily Dickinson
Because I Could Not Stop For Death
Because I could not stop for Death,
He kindly stopped for me;
The carriage held but just ourselves
And Immortality.
We slowly drove, he knew no haste,
And I had put away
My labor, and my leisure too,
For his civility.
We passed the school, where children strove
At recess, in the ring;
We passed the fields of gazing grain,
We passed the setting sun.
Or rather, be passed us;
The dews grew quivering and chill,
For only gossamer my gown,
My tippet only tulle.
We paused before house that seemed
A swelling of the ground;
The roof was scarcely visible,
The cornice but a mound.
Since then 'tis centuries, and yet each
Feels shorter than the day
I first surmised the horses' heads
Were toward eternity.
Sitting down Sophie decided to listen everyone else poems.Pulling out some sour patch kids from her bag she began to eat and listen. Some where good some where horrendously long, others not so good.

"Mmm.." Izabel replied, thinking if it'd be better to play hard to get, "I think I'll pass. I guess you're just going to have to wait until next time." A little giggle escaped her lips as she dug her nose into the book, looking for a reasonably short poem. It seemed like every page had a huge poem with words that Izabel couldn't even pronounce.
Flipping through a couple of pages, Izabel noticed a note placed on her desk's corner. Putting the book down, she picked up the note and unwrapped it, noticing Chad's handwriting.
Hey
Heard about the Halloween Ball. I'm thinking about going as Prince Charming: but then again the flyer said go as something you're not.

Letting out yet another giggle, Izabel grabbed her pen and started writing.
Haha.
That's cute. You should definitely go as prince charming, it'd be like uber cuteness. The girls and I are keeping our costumes a secret but you'll DEFINITELY like them. And ew. no. This is so pointless. I don't even understand like half the words.
- Izabel.
Returning to the book, Izabel found the poem. Getting up, Izabel informed Ms. Summers that she had a poem, knowing that it'd be easier to get it over than sitting around until the last minute and waiting for Chad's note. Getting in front of the room, she began.
"Okay, like it's called like Life or something." Izabel started, letting out a loud sigh. This was utterly boring, and time consuming. Why couldn't they just go shopping or something? These poems weren't going to help her later in life, she'll still be on her daddy's yacht after highschool, not even bothering to college. She was too rich to care about college. Letting out another sigh, she began.
"But gallanter, I know,
Who charge within the bosom,
The cavalry of woe.
Who win, and nations do not see,
Who fall, and none observe,
Whose dying eyes no country
Regards with patriot love.
We trust, in plumed procession,
For such the angels go,
Rank after rank, with even feet
And uniforms of snow."
Waking back to her seat, Izabel smiled at the passing boys as they gawked at her. She was a goddess among men to them.

"Well, I'm not really one for dances, but the contest part sounds interesting. And Halloween is my favorite holiday, and I like dressing up. I'll probably go. How about you?" Lori inquired.
"Well, I don't know. I do love Halloween and everything but I hate dances. The costume contest does sound fun though. I'll have to think about it." Tia smiled and turned around to find Ms. Summers practically drowning her in a death glare.
"Ladies, please keep the chit-chat for after class. Tia, Lori, have you selected your poems?" Ms. Summers asked, voice high-pitched and ready to pounce. Good thing she had, otherwise who knows where she would have been headed. "Of course, Ms. Summers. I'm ready to read it now, if that's okay," Tia meekly replied.
Getting up, she could already feel the icy glare of her fellow students on her back. "How many of them actually know my name?" Tia thought. She straightened out her skirt and looked out to the room, trying not to make any awkward eye contact. "The poem I selected is At A Window by Carl Sandburg."
At a Window
Carl Sandburg
Give me hunger,
O you gods that sit and give
The world its orders.
Give me hunger, pain and want,
Shut me out with shame and failure
From your doors of gold and fame,
Give me your shabbiest, weariest hunger!
But leave me a little love,
A voice to speak to me in the day end,
A hand to touch me in the dark room
Breaking the long loneliness.
In the dusk of day-shapes
Blurring the sunset,
One little wandering, western star
Thrust out from the changing shores of shadow.
Let me go to the window,
Watch there the day-shapes of dusk
And wait and know the coming
Of a little love.

Mmm.." Izabel replied, "I think I'll pass. I guess you're just going to have to wait until next time."
Chad laughed to himself and pretended to pout, “I guess I will just have to wait,” he replied, allowing a mischievous half-grin to slide across his mouth, “your loss…for now.”
He winked at Izabel and reclined back in his seat, waiting for the replies to the two notes he’d just sent. Chad listened to the others reciting their poems, not the least bit interested in reciting one himself. He’d just sit there till the end of class, and, as long as he maintained a C average in every class he’d be allowed to stay on the varsity football team. Then all he’d have to wait for was that college football scholarship the coach had ensured him he’d get, and his education wouldn’t matter at all. During his daydream he hadn’t noticed Sophie place a note back on his desk, and he opened it to read.
Ha ha Mr. charming,

You needn’t dress up. Go naked and pretend your Eve…like Adam and Eve. I’m pretty sure that would be a hit ;) If you need help deciding on a costume let me know babe.

He scribbled his reply in his usual slanted untidy handwriting and chucked it back at Sophie, realizing he was probably pushing it a bit far with the teasing, but knew he’d get a reaction. He wasn’t smart, his looks were all he had and he was going to play them to the best of his ability. Just as he’d sent off one note, another one appeared on his desk: this time from Izabel.
Haha.
That's cute. You should definitely go as prince charming, it'd be like uber cuteness. The girls and I are keeping our costumes a secret but you'll DEFINITELY like them. And ew. no. This is so pointless. I don't even understand like half the words.
- Izabel.

He waited for Izabel to finish reading the short poem she had open and then chucked the note back, satisfied he’d done well for the first twenty minutes of class.

[Holy crap. Sorry for the poem being so long. x'D]
"I think that weird people often turn out pretty well in the end and contribute a lot," Nemo concluded, and Delainee let out a stream of little giggles, knowing very well that he wasn't just speaking about Leonardo Da Vinci, but himself as well. He then mentioned something about doing a happy poem. Delainee frowned. She wanted something more dramatic. In fact, she was almost positive she was going to do 'The Highwayman'. But, she didn't see it in the book...so she would have to recite it from memory. That shouldn't be a problem, because she'd loved the poem and memorized it up and down. She was jerked from her contemplation when Nemo asked whether they were going to the Halloween Ball.
"I want to go, and eat a lot of candy. And wear a cute costume, and see the little costume contest. I may even dance a little, although it will probably be bad and I'll just go eat more candy," Nemo prattled on, grinning as he half-lounged across his desk. Delainee, however, held a finger up. Iris was rising beside them, clearing her throat to read through her poem. She smiled at the other girl, who had selected a beautiful poem she recognized from when they had to read The Outsiders. Delainee sighed as Iris's soft voice carried on the tones of the poem, and clapped for her when she finished, even though the rest of the room had remained silent.
"YES, Iris, you do have the most beautiful poetry-reciting voice I have ever heard," she offered a hand for her to high-five, leaning precariously over the side of her desk, but learning from Nemo's mistake and not pushing it too far. "I swear, when you read it's like...it's like...hm. Well it's gorgeous. You feel like you're listening to...to...some...gee. I can't think of anything that can even fit it. Your voice just fits poetry so well! Oh--and Nemz, are you kidding me? Hah! Of course I'm going! Can you imagine me, Delainee Rose, not going to the Halloween Ball? Honestly. I don't know what I'm going to do. I was debating dying my hair white and going as a witch with some of this emerald eye shadow I picked up the other day. I'd need a new dress, but I could probably stitch something up mys- you know what? I need to go up there and recite my poem." Delainee immediately thrust her hand up into the air and cried, "Me next! Me next!"
Bookless, Delainee skipped, yes literally skipped, up to the front of the room, where she hopped up into the teacher's stool. She beamed at her fellow students before beginning:
"The Highwayman", by Alfred Noyes
The wind was a torrent of darkness among the gusty trees,
The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas,
The road was a ribbon of moonlight, over the purple moor,
And the highwayman came riding-
Riding-riding-
The highwayman came riding, up to the old inn-door.
He'd a French cocked-hat on his forehead, a bunch of lace at his chin,
A coat of the claret velvet, and breeches of brown doe-skin;
They fitted with never a wrinkle: his boots were up to the thigh!
And he rode with a jewelled twinkle,
His pistol butts a-twinkle,
His rapier hilt a-twinkle, under the jewelled sky.
Over the cobbles he clattered and clashed in the dark inn-yard,
And he tapped with his whip on the shutters, but all was locked and barred;
He whistled a tune to the window, and who should be waiting there
But the landlord's black-eyed daughter,
Bess, the landlord's daughter,
Plaiting a dark red love-knot into her long black hair.
And dark in the old inn-yard a stable-wicket creaked
Where Tim the ostler listened; his face was white and peaked;
His eyes were hollows of madness, his hair like mouldy hay,
But he loved the landlord's daughter,
The landlord's red-lipped daughter,
Dumb as a dog he listened, and he heard the robber say-
"One kiss, my bonny sweetheart, I'm after a prize to-night,
But I shall be back with the yellow gold before the morning light;
Yet, if they press me sharply, and harry me through the day,
Then look for me by moonlight,
Watch for me by moonlight,
I'll come to thee by moonlight, though hell should bar the way."
He rose upright in the stirrups; he scarce could reach her hand,
But she loosened her hair i' the casement! His face burnt like a brand
As the black cascade of perfume came tumbling over his breast;
And he kissed its waves in the moonlight,
(Oh, sweet black waves in the moonlight!)
Then he tugged at his rein in the moonlight, and galloped away to the West.
He did not come in the dawning; he did not come at noon;
And out o' the tawny sunset, before the rise o' the moon,
When the road was a gipsy's ribbon, looping the purple moor,
A red-coat troop came marching-
Marching-marching-
King George's men came marching, up to the old inn-door.
They said no word to the landlord, they drank his ale instead,
But they gagged his daughter and bound her to the foot of her narrow bed;
Two of them knelt at her casement, with muskets at their side!
There was death at every window;
And hell at one dark window;
For Bess could see, through the casement, the road that he would ride.
They had tied her up to attention, with many a sniggering jest;
They bound a musket beside her, with the barrel beneath her breast!
"Now keep good watch!" and they kissed her.
She heard the dead man say-
Look for me by moonlight;
Watch for me by moonlight;
I'll come to thee by moonlight, though hell should bar the way!
She twisted her hands behind her; but all the knots held good!
She writhed her hands till here fingers were wet with sweat or blood!
They stretched and strained in the darkness, and the hours crawled by like
years,
Till, now, on the stroke of midnight,
Cold, on the stroke of midnight,
The tip of one finger touched it! The trigger at least was hers!
The tip of one finger touched it; she strove no more for the rest!
Up, she stood up to attention, with the barrel beneath her breast,
She would not risk their hearing; she would not strive again;
For the road lay bare in the moonlight;
Blank and bare in the moonlight;
And the blood of her veins in the moonlight throbbed to her love's refrain.
Tlot-tlot; tlot-tlot! Had they heard it? The horse-hoofs
ringing clear;
Tlot-tlot, tlot-tlot, in the distance? Were they deaf that they did
not hear?
Down the ribbon of moonlight, over the brow of the hill,
The highwayman came riding,
Riding, riding!
The red-coats looked to their priming! She stood up strait and still!
Tlot-tlot, in the frosty silence! Tlot-tlot, in the echoing night!
Nearer he came and nearer! Her face was like a light!
Her eyes grew wide for a moment; she drew one last deep breath,
Then her finger moved in the moonlight,
Her musket shattered the moonlight,
Shattered her breast in the moonlight and warned him-with her death.
He turned; he spurred to the West; he did not know who stood
Bowed, with her head o'er the musket, drenched with her own red blood!
Not till the dawn he heard it, his face grew grey to hear
How Bess, the landlord's daughter,
The landlord's black-eyed daughter,
Had watched for her love in the moonlight, and died in the darkness there.
Back, he spurred like a madman, shrieking a curse to the sky,
With the white road smoking behind him and his rapier brandished high!
Blood-red were his spurs i' the golden noon; wine-red was his velvet coat,
When they shot him down on the highway,
Down like a dog on the highway,
And he lay in his blood on the highway, with a bunch of lace at his throat.
And still of a winter's night, they say, when the wind is in the trees,
When the moon is a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas,
When the road is a ribbon of moonlight over the purple moor,
A highwayman comes riding-
Riding-riding-
A highwayman comes riding, up to the old inn-door.
Over the cobbles he clatters and clangs in the dark inn-yard,
And he taps with his whip on the shutters, but all is locked and barred;
He whistles a tune to the window, and who should be waiting there
But the landlord's black-eyed daughter,
Bess, the landlord's daughter,
Plaiting a dark red love-knot into her long black hair.

Lori and Tia were rudely interupted from there conversation by Ms. Summers. She pleaded they talk later and present now. Tia quickly jumped up and presented her poem, followed by Delainee Rose. Lori just got up without letting the teacher know she was going, and said the poem clearly and loud:
"Thanksgiving is in the tears
that burst like ripe grapes.
Proclaiming, see you next year,
we wave, begin to panic.
With these tears, the further we go
the tighter we are entwined.
We hold onto each others image,
hold each other way-deep
as the bus pulls us apart,
stretching our gratitude for miles.

Returning back to her desk, Izabel slid her book back into her Abercrombie tote and yawned. She had not slept well that night, but then again, she was at a party getting wasted. This happened almost every night, atleast friday, saturday, sunday, and perhaps thursday. You see, her parents really didn't care where her child was as long as she got home in one piece. Hell, they didn't even care if she even came home. Her father would probably be too busy in the record studio, working on the next hit track for 50 cent to care and her mother was probably doing some Victoria's Secret ad for the new bra for extra-coverage. Little Miss Perfect's life wasn't really perfect. She didn't even spend much time with her parents, they were too busy working. But when they actually did have bonding time, her father and mother would splurge on expensive gifts for her, to make up for being gone so long.
Noticing a note on her desk, Izabel quickly grabbed it in hope of the teacher not finding out they were passing notes as some little geek recited his poem.

She quickly threw the note onto Chad's desk.

As more and more students finished choosing their poems and waited to recite them, Leigh found herself listening. Reluctantly, but what else was there to do? If nothing else, hearing some of the students struggle - and mostly fail - to catch the rythm of the words, was fairly entertaining. Though most of their choices were so loooong, and so booooring.
That Jamison guy read "The Road Not Taken". Long, and boring.
Bradin read "How the Waters closed above Him". Short, and boring.
"Because I Could Not Stop For Death"; mildly interesting.
"At a Window"; booooring.
And then there was Izabel, reading a poem Leigh was convinced she didn't even understand. She'd probably just picked it because of all the short and pretty words.
Leigh stifled a giggle, and glanced over at Chad, who was so busy watching Izabel's cleavage that his eyes seemed ready to pop out. The two of them sure were the perfect match; Dumb, and dumber.
Though she had a hard time understanding how he could be so popular with the girls. He was a sleaze. He made Leigh's skin crawl. Good thing he hadn't tried hitting on her. With her reputation, one would think he'd come running sooner or later, conviced he'd get her on her back in two seconds flat. Boy, would he be mistaken. And perhaps he knew it. Or perhaps he was just scared that Leigh would end up breaking his pretty nose if he got with her and then dumped her, like he did with every other girl he "dated".
Again she had to stifle a laugh at the thought.
Turning her attention away from the self-proclaimed King and Queen of the universe, she saw that weird girl, Delainee Rose, skip over to the teacher's chair and sit, and then fire off a wide grin before starting to recite her choice.
At first Leigh actually listened, but after the the first two verses, she was bored. After two more verses, she was badly hoping the poem would just end. But it just went on, and on, and on. Finally, after what seemed like a hundred verses, Delainee fell silent, and relieved Leigh thought it was over. But then Delainee inhaled, and kept going, and Leigh let out a loud groan for everyone to hear;
"Oh god, please just kill me now."

Chad watched both Sophie and Izabel, determinig which one was actually going to reply to his note; if either of them. Chad was used to this, passing notes with hot girls in class, while not bothered at all about what was going up at front. Currently another one of the achievers or goths were reciting their poems like good little students, it was enough to make him wanna barf. Noticing Izabel had just passed a note to him, he snatched it up and read.

Maria was still flipping through the pages of her poetry book, while others were standing and reading theirs. She wasn't paying much attention, honestly. She was just trying to find something short. Something that wouldn't require her to be in front of the class long. If she was able to find something that fit her, she would be happy...but if not, she'd choose the shortest poem she could.
Finally finding a poem that appeared short enough, she read over the lines to herself and smiled slightly. It was perfect. No one was reciting any poems anymore, so Maria raised her hand tentatively. Really, her arm was only half-raised, as any higher may have brought even more attention to herself. Ms. Summers nodded at Maria, letting her know she could begin. Maria stood from her desk and hurried towards the front of the class, her head down staring at her book, while her hair fell into her face. At least she couldn't see the other students staring at her, so she could pretend she was still unnoticed. She began to read, quietly:
There is a solitude of space
by Emily Dickinson
There is a solitude of space
A solitude of sea
A solitude of death, but these
Society shall be
Compared with that profounder site
That polar privacy
A soul admitted to itself --
Finite infinity.
Having finished the words, Maria closed her book and hurried back to her desk, sliding into her seat and slumping. She could feel the crimson heat in her cheeks as she glanced around nervously to see if anyone was staring at her strangely...

After Nemo had proclaimed he would be doing a happy poem, Delainee Rose seemed to emit a small frown. Puzzled, he flipped through his journal to find a more deep poem. She continued to ramble on to Iris after she finished a rather beautiful poem, and he flashed her a smile and a thumbs up. "Oh--and Nemz, are you kidding me? I need to go up there and recite my poem." Speaking with much enthusiasim, Delainee presented next. Out of respect, he had to stop his flipping and watch her. He was almost more amazed that she had memorized the whole thing then the poem itself. She looked so cute today, even presenting that melancholy poem. Maybe it was because he had gone without seeing her for so long. He was compelled to hug her, but that would be kind of awkward at the moment.
As she finished, Nemo hopped up out of his desk excitedly shouting, "I'll be next!!" He beamed at Delainee Rose as she walked by, and mouthed "Good Job!" When he finally approched the stool, he figured he could fit is narrow legs onto the petite stool. Less clumsily then he had been this morning, he got ontop of the stool. He loved the feeling of being above everyone and being able to see everything that was going on. It made him feel like he had special authority, or something. He cleared his throut and began speaking, "Um, this isn't really a poem, but it is lyrics, and I think lyrics are just moving poems. It's by Shannon Wright called 'Twilight Hall' ,so here goes!
Shade calls the bone marrow
She left a stage so bare
And everyone clapped to see
You rise so gracefully
What a fright
On such a beautiful night
The soldiers rang around my head
The flies ate the called cabs
Everyone says i'm scared but not you
You believe I'm dead,"
He had said it in the most lachrymose voice he could. It was particularly difficult for him because he appeared most always jovious on the outside. He returned to his desk, proud of his performance. He continued to talk Delainee about his plans for the Halloween Ball. "Rawr, I wish I was a girl because guys don't really have that many cute costumes. I wanted to go as a Wonder Pet! You know that little kid's show where the three class pets save animals? Yeah, but I kind of figured it would be hard to dress as a guiena pig, a baby duck, or a turtle, so I abandoned that idea. I kind of want to dye my hair too!! You would look so good as a witch! But I think you would look better as an angel, or something really pretty!!" Nemo said barely stopping to take a breath. "Um, I'm sorry! It's just I haven't talked to you in a while, in person, and I'm soooo glad to be back! Plus I'm kind of hyper whenever it's cold outside! I don't know why!"

Delainee giggled immediately when she caught sight of a pretty, but deathly bored girl in the back. She seemed particularly irritated at Delainee's poem, which had been, indeed, very long. When she took her seat once again, she turned around and waved enthusiastically at the girl. However, just as she was about to open her mouth, Nemo bounded up towards the front. Delainee focused her attention on him, as he had done for her, and grinned as he deftly mounted the stool.
The girl had to stifle her laughter at Nemo's attempt to keep a straight, serious tone, but his cheerful nature just kept shining through every so often. Other than that, he did a good job and she whistled and stomped her feet. The truth was, she really wasn't one for poetry. It wasn't that she didn't like it, and she was in love with 'The Highwayman'...but she didn't like listening to others recite it so much. If it was one of her friends, though, or someone particularly interesting, then she would be more than happy to listen. Delainee tapped her pencil on her desk loudly, and was shaking her shoulders to an imaginary beat. She kind of wondered what Eeric would be reciting, he'd never answered her question.
[I]"Rawr, I wish I was a girl because guys don't really have that many cute costumes. I wanted to go as a Wonder Pet! You know that little kid's show where the three class pets save animals? It's just I haven't talked to you in a while, in person, and I'm soooo glad to be back! Plus I'm kind of hyper whenever it's cold outside! I don't know why!"
Delainee eyed Nemo with a pretend exasperation and produced a(n) (exaggerated) sigh, "Nemo, Nemo, Nemo. You are so juvenile Hee, but really, I think that would have been cute. Especially as a little duckling!" she reached over and nabbed Nemo's cheek in a firm, grandmotherly pinch. "Daniel also suggested that we go as Godzilla and Godzilla's sister."
Daniel nodded. He was flipping through the book in an odd manner, quite literally speaking as he was flipping past all the even numbered pages. They made him nervous...maybe even a little angry for reasons he couldn't quite grasp, "Yeah. We would have our skin painted, and our hair dyed green, and I would have mine spiked straight up," he gestured with his arms. "We'd have to find some gold contacts, and some Godzilla-claw-gloves, but other than that it's be pretty easy. Just find a like...green body suit or something. It was just an idea though! I also kind of thought about going as a milk carton. But that would be annoying trying to put it together without having the costume look cheap. Don't you think, Del? Um...Del?"
However, Delainee had her back turned, and was looking at an unfamiliar girl across the way, and was then calling out for her attention, "Hey, hey you! I don't think I've ever seen you before. Who are you?" she questioned rather loudly so that the girl could hear her from those few rows over, beaming and bracing herself for the stream of aggression that might follow through next. So many times she'd asked the same question, and she either A) got ignored or B) got pwned with a straightforward insult. Regardless, she had learned how to handle each situation. If they ignored her, hey, just keep asking until they turned to option B. Or, if they chose option B...well, she had a response to about every insult in the book. So really, her smile was a great fat challenge that many failed to recognize. She wanted someone to stump her good. To make her words catch in her mouth so that she could find nothing to say in return.

Natalia stood and looked around the room, trying to find out who she should befriend and who she should shun. It took a lot of careful planning to be popular, especially at a new school. She saw quite a few weirdos hanging about the room. She saw immediatly who was the queen bee of the classroom; a girl in a tight shirt and a mini skirt (Ohmigod! That is totally a summer outfit, not fall.) She was flirting about with a boy casually slouching in his seat. They were throwing notes around.
Luckily, there was an empty seat right in front of the girl. Natalia straightened her posture and walked purposefull to the desk. She sat herself down gracefully and laid her delicate Gucci tote on her desk. She rotated her body so that she was facing the queen bee.
"Hey. I'm Natalia. I just looove your shoes!" She whispered, knowing that girls always took pride in their shoes, and a compliment would never hurt. Just then, the teacher asked Natalia to recite her poem. She smiled at the girl and winked at the boy sitting next to her. She stood up straight and walked, leaning slightly back to appear thinner, to the front of the room.
Hello darkness, my old friend,
Ive come to talk with you again,
Because a vision softly creeping,
Left its seeds while I was sleeping,
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence.
In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone,
neath the halo of a street lamp,
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence.
And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more.
People talking without speaking,
People hearing without listening,
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dare
Disturb the sound of silence.
Fools said i, you do not know
Silence like a cancer grows.
Hear my words that I might teach you,
Take my arms that I might reach you.
But my words like silent raindrops fell,
And echoed
In the wells of silence
And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon God they made.
And the sign flashed out its warning,
In the words that it was forming.
And the sign said, the words of the prophets
Are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls.
And whisperd in the sounds of silence
"I know it's a song," she said, "But I just adore (at this she widened her eyes to appear more earnest) Simon and Garfunkel." She beamed then went back to sit down.
"Ohmigod. I totally hate this assignment, don't you?" Natalia made a gagging gesture.

Galen opened his poetry book and sighed. He liked poetry, though that was not something he would ever admit in public. Instead, he simply flipped the book open and placed his finger on the poem the book happened to open to. Walking up to the front of the class with his usual confidence, he stood, looking around the room slowly before he began.
Fire And Ice
by Robert Frost
Some say the world will end in fire;
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To know that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.
As Galen spoke, he made eye contact with everyone looking at him, and when he finished reading he smiled and closed the book with a slight slam before making his way back to his seat.

As Chad was waiting for a reply to the notes he sent Sophie and Izabel, another girl entered the classroom. After looking round the room she fixed eyes on the empty seat next to him and sat down, laying her epxensive looking bag on the desk before turning round to address Izabel.
"Hey. I'm Natalia. I just looove your shoes!" the girl said to Izabel. Natalia then stood up, winked at Chad and began to recite her poem.
Chad watched her amused as she read, her equally as glossy lips speaking the words and her body arched backwards in an attractive pose, his lips teasing again into a cheeky smile as she returned to her seat.
"Hey. I'm Chad. I just looove...you!" he whispered to her, immitating Natalia's voice and laughed under his breath.
He sat back in his seat and smiled mischeviously at Natalia, interested in her reply. This was either when he got a slapped face, or he'd pulled

Who are you?" she questioned. But then again, if she befriended her, maybe she could introduce Nemo to her and they could all be friends! That wouldn't be too hard with all of her natural charm. And no one would be scared or freaked out by anyone!
[[ Edit: Well, since Essa is a cat lover and likes simulation games, Nemo might go and talk to him in a little bit. But I don't know if he's ready for a relationship. ]]

Natalia laughed at his introduction but was silenced by the teacher who glared at the two of them. Chad gave Natalia the once over and then sat back in his chair again, wondering how he'd just managed to draw in a third girl, even if she was one of the prettiest, if not the prettiest. After a moment he noticed her scribbling in her notebook, and he just assumed she was getting down to the assignment again, an instant turn off for Chad who didn't want anything to do with English or the crummy assignment. To his surprise, and delight, she passed the piece of paper to him and he realised it was a note.
So, what is this I hear about some dance?
He laughed under his breath again, curious as to what to reply. He already had two other girls with his notes, waiting for their replies: did he really want to start another 'note-conversation.' Hell yea. Tearing out a sheet from his rapidly depleating notebook he scribbled his own reply.
Halloween Dance. This Halloween, as if you hadn't guessed. All pretty girls have to wear hot costumes by orders of Chad, God's Gift to Girls. If you're lucky maybe someone will ask you to go with them. Maybe I'm someone ;)
-Chad
Chad snickered at his own reply, folded it up and passed it under the desk to Natalia, making sure he touched her leg in the process

Finally! Finally Delainee finished her poem and returned to her seat, only to immediately turn around and wave at Leigh like a maniac. Leigh simply shot her a glare, half expecting the girl to say something, or even come over. After all, she did seem rather oblivious to the fact that Leigh, right now, was not a happy camper, and from what Leigh had seen of her so far, she was quite impulsive, in a sickly sweet pink bunny kind of way.
But instead, Delainee's attention was turned towards the people she was sitting with, and she left Leigh alone. Somewhat relieved, Leigh rested her chin against her hand, and kept staring at the clock on the wall, waiting for the class to end.
The minute hand had moved only twice when suddenly she heard someone calling.
"Hey, hey you!"
Slightly dazed, she tore her eyes away from the clock, and scanned the room for whoever it was that was trying to get someone's attention. Catching sight of Delainee, she realized it was her. And the person whose attention she was trying to get, was Leigh's.
"I don't think I've ever seen you before", she beamed. "Who are you?"
Leigh's eyebrows shot up in disbelief. 'I don't think I've ever seen you before'? They had been in the same class for two months, and she hadn't seen Leigh? Was she blind?
Granted, Leigh skipped alot of classes, but even she had managed to still learn the names of most of her class mates.
A thin crease of annoyance formed between her eyebrows.
"I'm the one you almost bored to death", she said. "But you can call me Leigh".
(((ooc: stylequeen - Does that mean you missed my references to Chad as well? Or is he just too busy gawking at Izabel, Sophie and Natalia to notice? *LOL* ;) )))

Natalia was facing forward trying to look like she was pretending to pay attention, (It was hard to pretend that she didn't like learning. ) when she felt something brush her thigh. She smiled, knowing exactly what, or who rather, it was. She grabed the note out of Chad's hand 'accidently' squeezing his fingers when she did.

She laughed inwardly to herself. There were boys just like him at every school; jerks. But to be 'in', one had to be friends with them. Or better yet, more than friends.
To Chad, God's (Greatest?) Gift to Girls,
Am I to assume that I need to wear a hot costume? What would 'someone' suggest I wear?. I should think that you, being God's Gift to Girls, would know everything.
Natalia
She dotted her I's with tiny little hearts and passed the note back to Chad, looking back at him under her heavily lidded eyes.

(( OOC: no Atropa I read the reference. I'm still pondering what Chad should do. Don't worry, Leigh will experience 'the Chadmeister' soon lol heeheehee :)
Pandaness I love this roleplay too :D ))
Chad felt Natalia squeeze his fingers as she took the note and he grinned cheekily again, his mind suddenly fixed on the girl next to him. He watched more students reciting poems as Natalia wrote out of the corner of his eye. The pretty darked haired girl Leigh caught his attention more than most, as she wasn't an achiever or some freaky goth, and had her own style that actually looked kinda hot. Maybe he'd have to check in with her later. As he watched her chat to others he felt a had touch his own leg and he smirked, touching Natalia's hand as he took the paper.

Natalia
Chad laughed again at her reply and the way her i's were dotted with hearts, eager to get to know Natalia as, from the way she wrote, she was just as flirtatious as he was.
Nat
I'm sure the outfit you wear will look hot whatever it is: its on you isnt it! I think someone would want you to wear something...revealing. Or maybe not. Some people say less is more: I hate those people ;) what would you suggest I wore?
Chad (GGG2G)
Again he slipped the note under the desk, and this time rested his hand on her leg as he waited for her to take it.
