Hopefully it's ok to ask general rpg planning questions here. Most of the rpgs seem to be more free-form and not so much on a turn based rpg. Is it possible to do one more turned based? Or is that just impractical on a forum?

Obviously you can't do the whole die rolling thing, but it could be sort of done behind the scenes (host could do it and pm the results to be included in the posts). For example if someone decided to pick a lock at the end of their post, then I would roll to see if they succeed and pm them whether or not it worked so in their next post they would know. Does that work?

And finally, I don't see a lot of deaths in the forum. Would people be ok with a high mortality rpg? I can't see myself doing a horror one without the body count.

Scout- That's a lot like the Vampire Masquerade RP that's going on. That's a high mortality, semi-turned based rp. (At least I think so.) My character died, but I enjoyed that RP the most! I like the thrill of not knowing how long you'll be in it, the threat that you'll die. I'd be up for a non-free-form rp for sure! I think free-form can get a little monotonous after a while, so turned-based can be really fun. :]

I was VERY disappointed when I died (I moped around for quite a bit), but it really does make the RP so much more exciting! I can't explain it. You also have a greater goal-- in the case of our Vampire RP, it was to discover the Hunter, and so we constantly had to solve clues to save ourselves, and try to determine who the Hunter was without getting killed. It really is more fun that way, with the threat of death included, if you ask me. :] But that's just my humble opinion, of course. It differs for everyone. But I'd assume if you join a RP like that, with high mortality, then you have to recognize that you could possibly die, and then you accept it and move on.

trampledsneakers, Vampire Masquerade RP is kind of like a werewolf game I played at a Christmas party last year. I was repeatedly mauled. Great fun.

I probably wouldn't start with one that had that kind of "secret killer" plot. Basically the goal would be more to escape with your life rather than uncover who is the killer. I'd probably just twink a Horror Rules rpg.

ElektraNatchios33, true. But it wouldn't be a long-term rpg. So even if you die early you wouldn't have to watch it continue on without you for months. And since they all end eventually, at least this way you could go out with a bang. :D

Ok I'm putting this here as I see V:tM being discussed ;) I'm basically asking for help to get the Vampire freeform started. I don't know anything about the disciplines involved with V:tM or Requiem for that matter. And here's an element I would like to add to the freeform. Humans. In their character description they would have to put what they would prefer to happen (not garanteed though of course). For example: Jo Shmoe, he could put vassal(vampire plaything/drink), wants to be ultimately turned, average Jo, in the Vampires pockets, or wants to be against vampires. Of course if there is fighting (there will be a Prince/Princess of Los Angeles and Chief of oi I forgot off the top of my head who's head in LA for humans) then things can happen that are a bit un anticipated. But it's good to have an idea who is who.

Another thing I know NOTHING about the disciplines. But I know a lot of people would like to actually use them in the freeform. So basically I'm asking for a co-GM who knows this stuff :) Or someone who wants to educate me extensivly :P but still would prefer someone to help me too with a knowledge of the RP

To people talking about a Harry Potter RP - I think a good idea for this would be to scrap the main characters completely, with the exception of using the professors as NPCs. Maybe a RP in the world of Hogwarts, Witchcraft and Wizardry but not sticking to any storyline or trying to recreate characters. A RP where characters can use magic, attend Hogwarts etc. is a good idea, but sticking to a storyline ends up too restricting and it'll just turn out to be everyone regurgitating JKR's (most amazing) words...

Anyway, the main reason I'm on this thread - I'm planning a RP strategy thing that will probably take me forever to get planned out and I may never actually finish it. It's still but a twinkle in my eye at the moment (in fact, I only thought of it earlier today) but I want it to be fast-paced with lots of different (non-compulsary) stuff happening for those who crave action and adventure. I want it like.. Final Fantasy-esque theme. Not complete science-fiction, but most definitely on a different world. And we'll be travelling around the world, looking for more bits of a map and trying to win enough food and money to survive in mini-challenges. You'll also be able to buy lots of other nice things with your money to RP with XD I still need to work on the main storyline though.. *runs off*

To whomever is doing the Harry Potter RP (if no one wants to I might because of all the interest) I tried this on a roleplay forum once and it worked out quite nicely.

Sorting: How I made the role play was by starting everyone as a first year. You would send in your application, along with some Q&A about yourself, and the Headmaster would sort you into the appropriate house according to your answers. After you completed each class's assignments (see below) you would move into the next year. Once you "graduated" you could become a teacher, or roleplay a new character. This way, people can always apply.

Classes: There would be all of the classes (i.e, transfiguration, astronomy, potions, care of magical creatures, etc.) and a teacher would apply for each. You could also make up your own class (but not many people did). Once you were a teacher, you would design your class page, and have questions for the students to answer. They would earn a certain amount of Housepoints (decided by the teacher) depending on how well they completed the assignment. Or teachers also had the option of giving the same amount of housepoints to each student, but having an extra credit question. Teachers were expected to change the class assignment every month.

Head of House, Prefects, and Head Boy/Girl:
-To become a Head of House, you must have first become a teacher. To apply for the position, you would already need 20+ posts in the thread. Head of House comes with a lot of responsibility: You must manage all of your house's house points, and design a common room webpage for your house with activites and bulletins. You also have the power to take or add housepoints to any house within reason.
-To become a Prefect, you must be at least 5th Year, and have 50+ posts in the thread. There are 2 Prefect's for each house. The Prefect's job is to monitor the students, and report any misbehavior to their Head of House. IN the event that the Head Boy/Girl are unactive, you can take over.
-To be the Head Boy/Girl, you but be at least a 5th year, and have 75+ posts in the thread. There is only one of each per house. You monitor both Prefects and Students, and represent your house. You have the power to take/add house points within your house.

House Points: House Points are controlled ultimately by the Head of Houses, but in roleplay the Teachers and Head Boy/Girls have influence. If you want to add/take housepoints, you will need to bold the amount in your post. The Head of House has the power to decline the Head Boy/Girls points though, if he/she finds it unessacary. Whenever the amount of HP changes, the HOH pm's the Headmaster to change it. At the end of each month, the House with the most points wins, and students can skip a grade(if they want). After the winning house is decided, the points are cleared and it starts all over.

So, that's what I think. And I appreciate if you just read all of that. I agree with Haylifer, though, that you shouldn't use the book's characters or storylines. Except for maybe well, death eaters, lol. But I really want to do this, and trust me, it's fun. Plus there will be so many people to roleplay, and everyone gets to. And it's not one of those things that if you miss the applications you can never ever join it.

If anyone likes this method, please let me know because I can get it started :)

Spammer alert - don't think this would be a good idea. Maybe people could elect Head of House, Prefects, and Head Boy/Girl, depending on whether the person is consistent with the RP and not so silly and stupid. I've been on RP forums that used the post rule and most if not all of the higher authority characters were 12-year-old girls who spammed too much. :P

Wow, Haylifer, that sounds like a great idea. I would definitely be interested in something like that. I keep checking the RP thread, hoping for new ones to pop up, so I do hope the twinkle in your eye becomes reality. :)

devoshka - I've only played the computer games (haven't played the original RP tabletop game, nor the live one) and so I probably don't know the whole deal about the disciplines, but I do know some of it.
One thing you could do is have everyone specify in their application three or four disciplines that their character knows (if a vampire, humans don't have any, as far as I know), and also what level. But it has to be reasonable, meaning they can't be experts on everything. Unless they're Methuselahs, which maybe shouldn't be among the options anyway(?), since it'll probably require alot of studying of White Wolf's material, for everyone, if it is to be done "correct". And it already requires some studying to grasp the clans, the Camarilla, the Sabbat, etc. (I'm just thinking out loud here).

Also, you might want to decide if you want to base the disciplines on the tabletop games and if so, which one; The Masquerade, or The Requiem. Doing that, it'll be quite extensive work, whereas basing it on the PC game Bloodlines will make it alot simpler.

And as for humans... How about hunters? And possibly dhampirs? Though, again, that might be to complicate it too much?

I love the sound of the HP role-play outline, but agree with the others that the post rule will incourage spamming, so you might want to think of another why of assessing the head roles without the need to have X amount of posts.

Scout I love the idea of a horror based RP with high mortality. I agree knowing your character can die does add a certain thrill. And if the RP has a high turn around then you can RP in others until it comes back around. I think a turn based one could work on a forum but it would need to take into account that everyone has lives and can't always get online daily.

Dev humans will be a great addition. How about some NPC humans that we can RP feeding on (godmoding) etc. Perhaps a vampire friendly club where the ghouls and Revenants hang out?

I do have a plan to accommodate those who miss a day in posting which will keep them in the RP (basically they just default to staying with the largest group and have only reflexive actions). Of course they can still be killed while away, but they would have died even if they were there so it doesn't matter really. Cause when death comes for you it doesn't care if you are paying attention.

If this works, we'll probably do others since they are short. That way when someone dies they could also just take it as a sign to try again next time.

SimGameFan viewed the roleplaying thread, then saw that there was a new rp thread, she clicked it, then all of a sudden, and popup blocked the screen! Finally, after closing 5 more popups, she wrote a rp, then got impatiente after nobody replied to the thread, then finally a reply, but nobody interacted with her character. It was devastating.

Just so this post isn't so...worthless, I have a RP idea to share. The theme would be the future, and it would be about how the humans finally found intelligent life on another planet, and so they did experiments on them, but it was a big mistake, now the earth was being attacked, and humans are turning against each other. The characters in the RP would be trying to stay alive. They could even be half human, half animal (the debate thread about mixing animal DNA with human DNA was my inspiration...) and have special abilities that could be useful in the RP.

SimGameFan - I love Sci-Fi stuff, I'd be interested in that RP. I was planning out a sci-fi RP myself, actually, set on a different planet where a group of humans survive the apocalypse and make their way over to a new planet but oh nos, it's inhabited by aliens! Phew, the aliens are friendly. But there are even bigger aliens, and they're attacking the planet! Something like that ;P And the group of humans have to get across the alien planet, hunt down the bigger-aliens base, and smash it to pieces. Unfortunately, the world map has been torn into little pieces and scattered everywhere, so it's like a jigsaw as you gain more and more map pieces. My idea would be a turn-based RP including character stats and currency! Yes, we all love shopping, but you can only buy alien trinkets and weapons. These might help you defeat the big guys though when you get round to attacking their base.

Oh, I ramble. That's my idea so far, anyways.

I'm planning/thinking about doing a mental institution RP, kind of based of that movie/memoir "Girl, Interrupted" What do you guys think? I thought it would be kind of funny. The rounds could be like this:

A nurse just handed you a pill, but she refuses to tell you what it is. You...

1) Take the pill
2) Tongue the pills
3) Demand she tell you what they are

They would all have different outcomes, so It's based off your choices.

SGF-I had an RP idea like yours but mine would be like this:

It's in the future (I mean, wayy into the future) and humans have evolved into spectacular creatures with amazing powers of Earth, Wind, Water, Fire, Light, and Darkness from a combination of natural evolution and pollution. Most still have their human form but some have transfored into either beautiful or grotesque beings. People have formed into enormous clans in each contenient based on their gifts. Each clan have lived in peace with a few uproars here and there but now, they have a major problem.

Earth has become so polluted and misused to the point of inhabitabilty. The leaders of each clan have had countless meetings to see who could rule the planet and solve this issue but nothing have come out of it but arguments and petty threats. They have finally come up with a solution: have the ultimate, no-holds bar battle between each clan. There are no rules, it's just survival of the fittest. Many clans are forgetting the main reason behind the battles. Some want to prove their worth, some want to rule the world, some just want to win for the spirit of winning. So, which clan will be on top?

So, what does everyone think? If someone really likes it, we could possibly co-lead the RP.

Well, coming out of the blue here, but my friend and I had this RP idea for quite some time now.

Some time in the future men and women decided they couldn't live in peace with each other, so they all decided to build a giant wall to split the earth into two parts. And hundreds of generations later some people decide to break down the wall and re-introduce men and women together.

I know it sounds ridiculous and well ... stupid... but think how fun it would be to RP a man who enters into the female world, having not seen or known about women their entire lives... haha, just makes me laugh thinking about it. Anyway, just thought I'd share that with you all for laughs. :rofl:

happycowlover, I'm using a type of simplified DnD system for combat in my RP. So charts, a spreadsheet and a die are all used. Each combat round incorporates 5 secs of RP time and 1 day real time (or until each person posts). So it works kind of like this:


Since I know monster is jumping out at characters first I run a check to see their fright response (a basic check of their inner strength vs the level of surprise/scare of the event). I'll PM that info to the players along with how many actions they may take (they may have fainted from fright and get none).
Post Round - which includes description of what occurs (like a monster suddenly bursting through the door). Also that the game time for the round is 5 seconds, real time 1 day.
Wait for players to post their actions.
Check their actions for the level of success/failure. PM players the information.
Post next round starting with the monster actions.


I'm not sure how well it will work. Guess we'll see next week. And obviously it wouldn't work for everyone as it requires a certain amount of work by the person running the RP. But maybe it'll get you thinking of a method you can use.

What about a cat-and-mouse style RP? I know, I keep getting new RP ideas while I'm at work on a Sunday. I'm not sure how it'd work, there'd need to be a 'cat', or villain; or maybe a group of cats, trying to hunt down a load of mice but they dunno where the mice are. Sort of like Battleships but only the cat attacks.. And each mouse has to hide somewhere and if the cat finds them, the poor mouse gets eaten..

Obviously we wouldn't be RPing as cats or mice. It'd be in a setting with an evil dictator's reigime and a load of poor oppressed people who are being hunted down. Or maybe the cat group are aliens attacking the planet. Or maybe they're really cats, hunting down mice to rid the world of vermin! Although I'm not sure whether or not animal RP-ing is popular.. Could be anything, I'll have to think about that.

Alright, the Eastern Hemisphere is governed by Four Empires.

1. The Byzantines. Rulers of Eastern Europe
2. The Muslims. Rulers of Southern Spain, North Africa, Middle East and Persia
3. The Indus. Rulers of the Indian Subcontinent, and the lands of Malay
4. The Chinese. Rules of China, Mongolia, Korea

The rest of the world that isn’t covered by the above Empires are either under local control. Such as Western Europe, Africa (Kingdoms), Russia, Australia, Oceana (Tribes)
Japan (Feudal Rulers)

North and South America (Unknown, Undiscovered Empires) are part of the Western Hemisphere and are not visited until later in the RP.

The point of this RP is to:

1. Make sure that money keeps coming into your Families coffers by:
a. Trade (Making as much money)
b. Protection of Smaller Tribes (More money)
c. Exploration (Getting funded by Lords and Ladies)
d. Settlement (Taxation)

2. Improve the standing of your Families by:
a. Business opportunities (The more powerful friends the better)
b. Charity work (Trying to get as many people to love you)
c. Funding to Explorers (You helped find a new trade route!)
d. Settlement. (You have created a new homeland!)

But it may be possible to incorporate some general systems and just tweak them for your needs. I think the rounds I'm using work well and are flexible enough to use in other RPs. What do you guys think of doing like a chance/multiple choice thing for mine? There's a post on the previous page I think with an example. I'm trying to get some input to make the RP decently successful.

ElektraNatchios33, I personally love chance and randomness, but I don't know how many people share that love.

I think choices are great for helping people keep up a story. Most RPs seems to start very heavy but unless there is some structure or some pushes by the person running it they also tend to fade away. I don't think it's because people have lost interest overall but because there is no one pushing a story to give those participating a focus for their creative voice.

Which isn't to say they have to be totally controlled. Mine is very focused because I wanted something very different than all the other RPs. But there is a whole world of variety between something like mine and a completely free form, unstructured RP.

Ah...what happened to that talk of a mafia-esque RP? I was quite interested in that one. :{ If Blah-Blah-Blah isn't going to go with it, I kind of have an idea of something we could do... It's not exactly like the mafia, per say...

Such as: you'd start out as new recruits for a new gang. You're sent on missions left and right, starting out kind of small {like simply tracking a target} and then moving on to the point where you're basically a hitman. You would have to interact with NPCs and try and get clues from them to help you decide what to do next. Depending on how you handle the situation after you get these clues, you could could either gain points that would help you get a kind of 'promotion', or get yourself killed. :] I was thinking promotions could in turn eventually lead the person to become an independent assassin-for-hire. Or something like that.

There wouldn't be, however, anything too complicated about this. Simple chance interactions and a bit of reasoning is all it would take.

It's just an idea, nothing more, nothing less. I thought of it in the middle of school so bugs and kinks aren't worked out, and I just wanted to present the idea to you guys, see who would be interested and such before I get excited and ahead of myself. xD

OK I have one RP idea.

The Black Order - based off the Anime series D.Grey Man.

It will essentually be a battle between Exorists (humans/good guys) and the Akuma (/demons) and the Millenium Earl.

About 3 days each week would be normal in-the-order RPing (the order is Exorsist Headquarters) and then the rest of the week will be akuma attacks.

The Akuma attacks would be taken in -pairs- that I would assign and would change on each attack. The attacks themselves will be RP-able, but may also use an arcade element as well...

Not really sure about it yet! But it definantly won't start until mid september.

I was thinking of doing a roleplay set very far ahead in the future where aliens have taken over the world and enslaved the human race (very over-used I know ;)) and a couple (when I say couple I mean about twenty) of toughies from prison bust out and start trying to get the world back under control. i was thinking having a model academy RP with 18 people to apply and every week they get 2 tasks to give photos and someone goes every week depending on what the judges thought...the judges would be like 3-5 of them and they would discc or what the applicants wanted to go, and the applicants talked in the house but have to go out to photoshoots for tasks...but then i thought that would be classed as a conetest rather than a roleplay huh?

Don't know if it's been suggested, but what about a WWII-theme RP? I'm starting to become slightly history-obsessed, y'see... It could be set in London in the 1930s and involve rations, air raids, all of that. I'm too lazy to plan it out though :p

Another idea I had was a Victorian school or village with all the social 'laws' of the Victorian era, like unmarried men and women not being allowed to spend time alone together without a chaperone... etc! And there might also be like, a school ghost or something creepy like that just to make it fun XD

Mafia sounds great too...but I would love to see a roleplay based on life..I mean the sims is like a lifecycle game and I thought I would see a roleplay about it, but I think it should include going from a child (starting at child because really nothing can be done as a toddler or baby) and have rounds on that like what happens in school and what happens with you are your parents and siblings, and do you have a little girlfriend or not..etc. Then you should enter your teen years, when the Thread opener posts the round for teen years, and you should be able to have birthday parties...school events, love, hate, etc. Then you should enter the Adult years and you should fall in love, have kids (post pics so we can see from time to time), getting married, raising the kids, etc. because most likely that characters will grow up together and marry one another, (say for instance everyone is assigned a character to get to know, and if they dont like them they can interfere with someone elses relationship and trade lovers..etc.)..How does this sound so far guys?

Brothers And Sisters (Based on the Tv Show 'Brother's and Sisters')
University! I cannot believe this one hasn't already been set up already. It's such a simple idea
and finally Shipwrecked! (I know there is already a shipwrecked RP out there, but that has died down and this takes on a different perspective. It would be based on the british reality TV show Shipwrecked Battle Of The Islands (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shipwrecked:_Battle_of_the_Islands). There are two 'tribes' that each week try and get a new arrival to join there island and after a while the tribe with most people in it, will win!

I want to make a WWII RP. Expect it around next month time I guess, once I get internet back at my own place. It'll only be short I hope, as in maybe two weeks to a month. So, just the rough drafty idea... I know war's a sensitive topic so hopefully I won't be hated for making one! This is just the outline for how I want it to happen. Oh, and I have no real problem with anyone stealing my idea if they can be bothered. I'd like to host it but I'd also like to join one like this so.. heh.

Basically there are a number of missions your team will be required to fulfil involving a strategic plan to destroy Nazi forces. I'll think that storyline up later xD It's going to be very guided play and characters will need to be active (i.e. post at least once every two days), using die and a map including both planned battles and random events. Two groups of people, basically. Soldiers are moving around the field fighting the enemy, and are all men. They'll have statistics, and depending on their stats they have a chance of being wounded in battle. Nurses are allowed to be female, and their job is to heal those soldiers wounded in battle by solving clues.

I'm also gunna have soldiers being captured and having to answer questions to quick-talk their way out, possibly spies who lead them to the wrong places on the map.. Clues as to where not to head, through either descriptions or hints to where the enemy soldiers are. Plenty of NPC civilians to interact with.. blah blah :) Oh, and you can get promoted through the ranks for being active or working out clues well, at the elected General's discretion.

I'm thinking of posting a roleplay based upon a game that's usually played in person: "The Extraordinary Adventures of Baron Munchausen." It's succinctly described as a game of competitive lying.

This is part of the description from the book: "It is the eighteenth century. A group of nobles are gathered...and pass the long evening by entertaining each other with tales of their travels and surprising adventures. Little respect is paid to historical details, scientific facts or the bound of credibility."

Adapting the rules for online play (it can even be played as a drinking game!), my idea is basically that each player is given a random topic, and must compose a brief tale. The Baron might say, "Lady Humphreys, tell us how you invented the tomato," "Lord Pullman, how did you lose both of your legs at the Battle of Utrecht, and how did you recover them?" "Colonel Scott, what happened when the primitives of the Polynesian islands offered you as a sacrifice to their native gods?" (The book has about 200 different topics.) In telling a story, each player should try to outdo the previous story-teller, with a story that is bigger, wilder and brings more glory upon themselves. Stories are told in the first person, and are not too long: I figure between 10 and 20 lines of text would approximate the real-time limit of about five minutes. Then, after each player had told their story--with an opportunity for other players to object or add twists that the teller must add to their story--the players vote on the best story. It's a relatively simple concept.

What do you think? Although players create roles, it is not a freeform roleplay, and I worry that that alone might turn players off. On the other hand, many of the roleplayers on the forum are very creative and descriptive, and I think they could really go to town with their story.

Do you think people would want to play this game? Technically, you can play with only three people, but of course it's more fun with more. I don't want to write up the roleplay if nobody is going to join.

Then you have to RP challenges who the mole has to screw up and then the other RP people have to find out who the mole is. Then they have to make questions about the mole. Like: Who is the mole?? What was the colour of the mole's shirt?? BlaBlaBla... ect. ect. The one who has the least questions right has to leave. It's fun on tv but I don't know how it's with roleplaying. Could be fun xD

But I think the Dutch name sound better, Who is... the mole??

I dont know fi anyone has Karen Monings books, but I was thinking of a rp based on them. They are romance novels, but i think they can be toned down for a rp on here. The jiff of it is that there are faires know as Tuatha Dé Danaan or fae for short. But they look more god like. They are suppose to be far more beautiful and handsome than a human can imagine. Very few humans can see them. The humans who can are called Sidhe-seers. There is more to the story. There are dark fae and light fae. Good and evil ones. There are demons (Like vampires and others) demon-hunters and vampire slayers.
I still don't know how (if someone will do this) to deal with the dying demons, or just only let them die when they want to.

That sounds wonderful. A way to deal with the killing of demons and stuff would be to let people make a short term characters that can be killed and a regular character. When the short term character gets killed off they can make a new one.

But, it would most probably be set in London, and freeform, with noteable events just being thrown in there. Jesus Christ, the forum is overflowing with new RPs... The more there are, the less players there will be for each RP in there, cuz you can only participate in so many RPs... Maybe slow down a bit...?

And also, there are so many RP's overflooding with ooc posts and RP posts that are no longer than one or two lines, which HystericalParoxysm has repeatedly asked us not to do... If we're not careful, this forum will become way more moderated, and the rules way more strict.

I don't think deleting threads where the RP has actually gotten started is a good idea. Many players here spend alot of time and effort writing their posts, and so for someone to just simply delete their hard work is... well, frankly, really disrespectful. Why not just leave them instead? They'll sink to the bottom of the forum, but still be there for people to read. :)

Most of them just started. A week or so ago, there were like 6 new roleplays in four days. :blink: Alot of new people here, and most don't let applications run for more than a few hours before starting, and some start even if only three paople have signed up, so... yeah...
However, one or two of the new ones were deleted by the creators due to lack of interest. But still, some don't seem to understand the many downsides of having too many RPs run at the same time, and can't seem to wait to post theirs.
Patience is a virtue, people. :D

I agree that the RP forum is kinda crowded right now. It's hard to keep track of everything; Some RPs only have two or three members RPing with each other, some get deleted before anyone has a chance to enter, some are alot like RPs that have already been started, and some have a great plot but the creator is new to RPing and doesn't know how to run one well. I have a feeling the mods might have some new rules for us if everything doesn't get sorted out..:blink:

Give it time, thought, planning.. and wait until more people can join. There are so many RPs up at the moment that everyone's too busy to join more, and even with the most amazing, well-planned role-play ever, you won't get much interest right now. So do as I am, and just be patient. And in that time, make the RP even better and more enjoyable for participants :) Good luck!

Well, as 'popular' suggests that it would have alot of players, I can only recommend you wait until some of the current RPs have finished. As has been discussed in a couple of the most recent posts in this thread, the current problem is that there are too many new RPs for the players to go around. :)

I had been thinking about making an RP on another site. It wasn't very good, but it was about the X amount of years from now where the human population is going into exponential groowth. The RP would start off with people beginning to notice that the effects and eventually, all hell breaks lose and it becomes a struggle to get resources. Nations start declaring war against each other to gain resources, crime rates start to spike, ect. The people would have to try to survive as the world slowly turned upside down.

It would have been called Exponential, but you guys already have an apocolypse RP here....

I had another idea that involved a serial killer trapping a bunch of people in a movie theater and slowly picking them off one by one, but I don't think it was very good either.

i think a geisha rp would be totally awesome. i totally am in love with geisha... i think it would be just completely cool, because what's more dramatic? hehe...
maybe to have some players to be maiko (apprentices), some to be geiko (full geisha), some to be shikomisan (in training) and some people to be townies (they get to attend the parties, become a patron etc.) and of course someone needs the be the okasan, the mother/owner of the geisha house.
it would be sooo fun!

The RPs got deleted for not being original ideas (St.Peter's boarding school, two days after St. Mary's opened) and for the person in question ignoring the mods and various and sundry other reasons, including not having a fully developed RP idea. I think it was like five seperate threads, lol.

And I don't reckon it'd be strictly wise to start a new RP now since theres alot of new ones already, so not many people owuld join, due to time constraints and regardless of how well organized something is and how cool the idea is time is a rare commodity. *cue twilight zone theme song* but I wouldn't know that well, I'm somewhat new to the RP forum and I would seriously consider joining your geisha RP if you opened it. Not that I'd recommend that. If that made any sense whatsoever, lol.

yeah, you have a point. There are alot of active rps right now (i'm only in one- i try to restrain myself from joining all of them XD) but there are alot of inactive ones as well.

Really, as a wannabe host, I think there should be a waiting list or something in the Roleplaying forum, a bit like in the Contests forum. And RPs should be moderated in the same way. I might submit that as a suggestion. The problem is, staff are busy enough as it is I guess and I don't think they'd be that willing to moderate contests and RPs.

A solution to the surge:
We should boycott the new RP's. Just not join any new ones I mean. Of course we would (not to mention should) contine RPing in the ones we've already joined.

I, for the most part, am happy with the new rules. Can I ask one question HP? The Desperado RP has been abandoned by it's host, as he hasn't logged on to the site in two months, yet there's still two players using the thread. Will it be "archived" and not available to use for us because it's gone WAY over the 1000 post mark? Starphyre and I are trying to wrap up the storyline for our Characters, then it could be archived away, so I'd hate to start a new thread when it should be officially dead soon. But I don't want to lose the thread because the host is not around.
