Ok I had a party at the pool. I didn't have any idea what to do. All the people just stood around. Maybe two went swimming. I didn't save and felt that was bust. How do you throw a great party at a community lot???

By interacting with your guests.

I had a great party with my sim who is good at socializing. To throw a great party have food available for them to eat, play music, dance with each guest or talk or joke with them. The more guests you talk to and interact with (positively) the better.

My sim had a pool party and even though she was in the red zone by the end, it was a good party. People want to go to her parties.

Really I always have great parties but it might be due to traits. I think the key is food. I always get that party table and fill it up. It seems to make for a happy crowd.

I bought the trait legendary host. But I didn't know how to get these things when I was on a community Lot!! Any suggestions?

I had a party when I played just now, and it was ''on the verge to epic'', and that surprised me. It was a beach party, but I had a hard time getting there, because my sim kept forgetting to bring the toddler, and when she finally picked her up, I sendt her to the park!
So when I finally got her to the party, she talked to a couple of people, and everyone had a blast. So I think it's much easier to have a cool party now than in Sims 2. I hardly ever had parties there because they were always catastrophic.

Be careful with the pool party at the Cerulean pool, because the little pools don't have ladders to get out. I had a party there, and within a little while, all of the Sims were in one of the little pools, panicking because they couldn't escape!

Pools are still messed up in this game. Very limited interactions in there, pathfinding sucks (like normal) and I can't tell if their relationships are even changing in there.

Pathfinding really is the thing that screws up most of these parties, I think. Way too many times I've had multiple sims all stuck in one area and then stand there for about a sim hour.

Also...I've never had very much success with community lot parties. The lots are really big and I find that the sims all scatter and it becomes difficult just to even find people.

You can put stuff in your sim's inventory and take it out on community lots. So buy the buffet table, a radio, whatever, put them your inventory and take them out when you get there.

It worked with the guitar when my sim went downtown.

I tried to throw a wedding at a community lot, but my sim's stupid Fiance just sat on her sofa reading a book and never showed up. I sent her home to tell him to "Stop doing that" and he got up, changed into formal wear and took off. Too late, moron. My poor sim had a sad/embarassed wedding moodlet for 2 days! Heads up to anyone wishing to do the same...

Haha, the stupidity of sims sometimes just has to make you laugh :)

I tend to keep parties at home. Can manage the sims better. Can't lock doors though, which was awfully handy in Sims 2. Like, who hangs about in the host's bedroom, playing chess? Wish you could lock doors, it's a very simple, yet highly useful tool.
